The park is home to four different vegetation zones: Patagonian steppe, Pre-Andean shrubland, Magellanic subpolar forests, and the Andean desert – throughout which you will find unique landscapes, with turquoise lakes, lagoons, waterfalls, and impressive glaciers. Archeological proof indicates that the zone was once permanently inhabited during millenaries. (from the 6th to the 5th millenary BCE), by people that belonged to the ancient hunting tribes of the pampas, Tehuelches’ ancestors. We have indeed found signs of presence along the Sarmiento Lake and Serrano River banks. After these primitive hunters came the Aonikenk Nomads between 1500 and 1870, who were Tehuelches living south of the Chubut River. The Tehuelches always had a very extended knowledge of the mountain-range that they would call Paine or Carrón, and for which they had deep respect.

It is quite impressive to listen to the cracking ice, which breaks off and falls into the otherwise calm motionless fjord. The landscape is a unique mix of green areas, covering the hills and mountains, and of turquoise water that seems to blend into the impressive glaciers. During the cruise, you will be able to see sea lions and cormorants. Then, you will top and get off of the boat for a short 1km walk, across a forest of native trees, to reach the bottom of the Serrano Glacier, and appreciate this magnificent work of nature.

First of all I would like to express my deep gratitude to main organizer of trip Daniel and all guides of the company!!!

Our agent Daniel was extremely helpful and great building the itinerary. We loved working with him! He was so fantastic. Peru, Argentina, Patagonia, Rainforest, and Chile all went well. Brazil was a little bit messy and the organization was disappointing in comparison to the rest. The hotel in Rio was absolutely horrible and I had mentioned that before and nothing was changed. We booked months in advance so it being a long holiday weekend should not make a difference. The hotel should have been changed way before as I asked. It was below standard and should not be an option because it was old, dirty, with bugs and run down and in a very unsafe location. For Manaus, our driver was late and no one communicated it to us. I had to reach out and we didn’t have a lot of information. Also, there should have been some options to do the meeting of the waters tour in the rainforest we had plenty of time and we ended up scheduling it last minute because the agent there (Nathalia) didn’t include it and couldn’t get us on a boat. The local agent worked with us instead. It would have been better to have everything paid for and done in advance. So overall, Brazil team could have done a better job. The rest of the teams in the other countries were great!

Overall experience with Latin Discoveries was good, dealing with Daniel and other team members via WhatsApp was pretty quick and easy. However, there were couple of instances which i believe can be improved upon. 1. once i had approved the proposal and payment was made, I had to send couple of emails asking if the payment was received or not. 2. the travel books came in as seperate for each country, however for ease of understanding if an overall summary would have been given it would have been good. 3. the travel book came pretty close to our travel so not much time to review and question some of the timing (flight times etc.)

Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted. Please refer to the itinerary for details.

Travel by private bus through the Sacred Valley on the outskirts of Cusco today. This lush valley, known as Wilcamayo to the Incas, has long been the main source of food for the high Andes. Maize crops can be seen surrounding the river and covering the terraces that are carved high into the valley walls. You’ll visit a community in the valley to learn about local lifestyles and activities. If your visit coincides with market day, you can browse the stalls in search of hand-painted beads or warm ponchos. Visit the AMA Restaurant in Urubamba for afternoon tea – this café is dedicated to working with single mothers throughout the Sacred Valley, where there are few opportunities for childcare and employment. As all the ingredients used here are grown and purchased locally, the establishment also prides itself on its organic and locally focused practices. Enjoy a coffee, tea or juice with a slice of vegan beet cake or a homemade cookie and then board a train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes – nestled in the cloud forest at the foot of Machu Picchu.

  • Sacred Valley - Community visit & lunch
  • Sacred Valley - AMA Snack and Drink

This morning, you’ll take an early bus up the winding road to Machu Picchu. Welcome to one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World! This is your chance to decide for yourself whether Machu Picchu was built around 1440 as a country retreat for the Incan nobility or as an ancient astronomical observatory. Enjoy a guided visit of the incredible site, giving you ample time to take in the many temples, palaces and living quarters. After taking advantage of the seemingly endless photo opportunities, you’ll return to Cusco.

  • Machu Picchu - Entrance and guided tour

Due to Intrepid's internal safety policy, our leaders are specifically prohibited from recommending or assisting with booking climbs of Wayna Picchu.

The first bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu departs at 5.30 am. The estimated arrival time is between 6 to 6.30 am. The sun rises at Machu Picchu at approximately 5.30 am, therefore, it's not possible to be there in time for sunrise.

Today after breakfast, you can enjoy free time to relax, shop and explore Cusco's many sights. Maybe rest your weary legs at a cafe on Plaza de Armas or head to the San Pedro Market, where you can find vegetables, meats, local cheeses, chocolates, herbal medicines and many local handicrafts. It’s a great place to pick up souvenirs or ingredients for a picnic. The market is also where many locals (and daring travellers) go to eat ‘mystery soups.’ Some may be just chicken – however, the most popular among the locals usually contain frogs or offal. For those looking for something active, why not try mountain biking in the hills surrounding Cusco?

  • Cusco - Rainbow Mountain Hike (Based on 4 participants) - USD105
  • Cusco - Full Day Via Ferrata & Zipline - USD95
  • Cusco - Full Day Stand Up Paddle Boarding (Based on 4 participants) - USD85
  • Cusco - Humantay Lake Hike (Based on 4 participants) - USD130
  • Sacred Valley - Mountain Biking (Price Based on 2 Participants) - USD170
  • Cusco - Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Hike (Based on 4 paticipants) - USD100

Before your trip comes to an end, why not pay a visit to Instagram’s most popular mountain – Rainbow Mountain (or Vinicunca in Quechua). This activity involves climbing up to more than 5000 m above sea level in one day, which can lead to life-threatening altitude sickness. As such, your tour leaders are only able to assist you in booking this activity at the end of your stay in Cusco (when you’ll be better acclimatised) and when they have full control of safety aspects (such as transport, oxygen, emergency horses, adequate first aid kits and experienced guides). The price indicated is indicative only, and the final price will depend on the total number of travellers taking this activity. The price can range from as little as $56 (with 16 travellers) to $216 for two travellers.

This morning after breakfast, you’ll travel through the dramatic scenery of the high Altiplano to Puno – located on the shores of serene Lake Titicaca. At an altitude of 3800 m, Lake Titicaca is the world's highest navigable lake. Today includes a bit of a long drive, but it’s worth the first glimpse of immense Lake Titicaca, whose seemingly endless waters stretch into the horizon. Puno is a melting pot of Indigenous Aymara and Quechuan culture and traditional Andean customs, and it wears its traditions on its sleeve. If you're lucky, your trip will coincide with one of the many cultural festivals here. Ask your leader where you can get the best grilled trout tonight – a true local specialty perfect for dinner.

Your travel time today will be approximately 6 hours.

Puno continues to experience some occasional ongoing political unrest. With safety always our priority, on some departures, you may need to use alternative transportation to avoid affected areas. Your tour leader will advise of any specific changes to transport or the itinerary in this destination that needs to be put in place.

This morning, you’ll take a tour of the immense lake by motorboat, stopping at the floating Uros Islands that look like they could come from a Pixar or Studio Ghibli movie. Built by the Uros people to protect themselves from encroaching Inca forces hundreds of years ago, the islands are constructed from many layers of totora reeds that grow in the shallows of the lake. Get a closer look at contemporary life on the shores of the lake with a homestay in a local community. Help your host family with their daily activities, try out a few words in the Quechua language and maybe even join a local soccer game to make some friends on the makeshift pitch. Tonight, sit down and swap stories with your hosts, who will cook you a feast full of traditional Peruvian favourites.

  • Lake Titicaca - Boat tour & Homestay

Your homestay tonight is a traditional mud brick house. Rooms have beds and many blankets, and there are shared drop toilets, but no showers.

This morning after breakfast at your homestay, take a bus to Juliaca airport. Then, you’ll take an included flight back to Lima, where you’ll have a free night. Maybe head out with your fellow travellers for a celebratory dinner (some of your group will be leaving the trip tomorrow).

Your travel time today will be approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

Say ‘hasta luego’ to Lima and board a flight today to Argentina’s fiery capital, Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is the ultimate cosmopolitan city, with Latin passion, European elegance and its own distinctive style. Your adventure continues with another welcome meeting at 6 pm. Your leader will leave a note at the hotel reception telling you where this important meeting will take place. If you arrive early, why not visit San Telmo and its weekend antiques market and artists' displays? Or maybe visit Recoleta (the grand cemetery) or Casa Rosada (the Pink House).

  • Buenos Aires - Coastal train - USD10
  • Buenos Aires - Tango show ticket prices from - USD120
  • Buenos Aires - Football game (subject to availability) from - USD120

As this is a combo trip, the travellers in your group and your group leader will likely change today. The flight today is unaccompanied, but your leader will provide you with all the details, plus where to meet a representative on arrival in Buenos Aires to be transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast this morning, head out on an orientation walk through this bustling city. You'll be introduced to some of Buenos Aires' major sights – the Colon Theatre, the Obelisco and Plaza de Mayo. Along the way, learn a little more about Argentina's independence from Spain. Tonight, you’re free to hit one of the many incredible restaurants with your new group.

  • Buenos Aires - Leader-led orientation walk
  • Buenos Aires - Polo day - USD185

This morning, you’ll catch a short flight to Posadas, then drive to Ituzaingo – your base to explore the beautiful Ibera Wetlands region in the north of Argentina. Spanning more than 15,000 square km, the Ibera wetlands are roughly the size of Belgium! The biodiversity here is incredible – the swamps, lakes and lagoons are home to otters, alligators, deer, wolves and black howler monkeys. Keep a look out for capybaras, too! These cousins of guinea pigs are the largest rodents in the world.

Your travel time today will be approximately 1 hour.

Today, you’ll head on a full-day walking tour and car safari with a local guide, including stops for a tasty lunch and plenty of snacks. You might see any number of species, including caimans or swamp deer, armadillos or a flock of rhea (a South American equivalent of an emu). Anacondas, though particularly hard to spot at certain times of the year, are also known to inhabit these wetlands. Keep an eye on the sky as well today, as you're bound to glimpse some of the 350 bird species that live here, too, from the sharp-tailed tyrant to the gorgeous yellow robin.

  • Ibera Wetlands - Day tour

After breakfast, you’ll have a long travel day today. From Ituizango, take a comfortable local bus to Puerto Iguazu. As soon as you arrive at Puerto Iguazu bus station, you’ll take a minivan across the border into Brazil and continue to your hotel in Foz do Iguazu. Take a good book or play some road trip games with your fellow travellers as you watch the scenery pass you by. Tonight, you’re free to relax at your hotel or find a cosy spot for dinner.

Your travel time today will be approximately 6 hours.

This morning you'll visit the mighty waterfalls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides. At over two km long, Iguazu Falls are actually a series of cataracts. There are over 270 falls, some reaching up to 80 m in height. They are wider than Victoria Falls and higher than Niagara Falls! Enjoy the magnificent panoramas on the Brazilian side – seeing the falls from this side means you’ll have a unique view of San Martin Island. You might also like to take a helicopter ride over the falls while you're here, which your trip leader can help you book. With loads of free time today, you can choose from many optional activities. Maybe head to a football game, take a cable car ride between Praia Vermelha and Sugarloaf Mountain for incredible views over Rio or just explore on foot with one of the many walking and hiking options!

Soak up the early morning air, revel in the joy of beating the crowds and take some epic photos of this iconic statue before heading to a local farmer's market. Your local leader will show you some of the best foods to try as well as provide plenty of interesting facts about the market traditions. Today you'll have a free afternoon, so may wish to return to the hotel with your leader to relax. This was an incredible lifetime tour that we really enjoyed. The accommodation in some of the stays was quite poor relative to the lifetime experience that this was. In Machu Picchu the hotel we stayed in had a long power cut when we arrived and then a further long one later in the evening.

What people love about Argentina And Peru Tours

One of the highlights for me was the Tango show in Buenos Aires, really enjoyed that. The dinner and show in Cusco was a bit of a let down. I thought the accommodations were fine , nothing to rave about. I was not impressed with the Cusco hotel or the one in Puno, very noisy and no air conditioning so had to open windows to get any air flow and that of course only made matters worse when it came to noise. Loved Iguassu falls and the resort we stayed at there was very lovely, nice to have a chance just to relax by the pool . My husband was disappointed when we got to Peru , not because he did not enjoy the visits with locals and family's but thought the experience was cheapened due to the fact they always were trying to sell you something. I have to agree , it would have been better with out always having the try to sell you items and several people commented that they felt they should buy something even though they didn't really want anything. It got to be a little too much for most. There were a few days where we did not get to stop for a proper lunch only a store on the way and that didn't impress me , too rushed . All in all I enjoyed the trip very much , and I would recommend Cosmos to friends and family .

Lake Titicaca tour - Visit Latin America - CME tours

Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Puno by our local guide and then transferred to the harbor. We start off our boat excursion of Lake Titicaca by visiting “The Uros Floating Islands”, a small community that has lived on these reed Islands for decades. Centuries ago the small indigenous Uros tribe conceived of the islands as a way to isolate and protect themselves from rival tribes, the Collas and the Incas. The Uros people harvested the reeds in the shallows of the lake, bundled them together tightly and built floating island platforms complete with reed houses and canoes, creating in this way their own little world. On the islands we will learn with our local guide about the life style and customs. After strolling around the floating Islands, we continue our journey towards “Taquile Island” traditional Quechua speaking community, and full of ancient agricultural terraces. The Taquile population was relatively isolated from the mainland until 1950s, and the notion of the community and family is still very strong among them. The weaving tradition of the Taquile Island goes back to early civilizations, thus keeps elements from pre-Inca Andean cultures alive in the present. All weaving is done on pre-Inca fixed and pedal looms. The most characteristic garments are the so-called “Chullo”, a knitted hat with an earflap, and “The Calendar Waistband”, depicting the annual cycles connected to ritual and agricultural activities. When we reach the shores of Taquile Island, we will have to walk up along a narrow path, enjoying on the way impressive views of the Lake Titicaca and also see gorgeous little houses inhabited by the direct decedents of the Inca Culture. Overnight in Puno. Meal: Breakfast, Dinner.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Juliaca airport for flight to Lima. Arrive and connect flight to Miami. Arriving in Miami, next day Meal: Breakfast

Airline Group Booking And Seat Assignments

POLLINA TOURS makes the booking with the Group Department of the airline, which means all the group members must travel together to and from a common gateway, as one Group. The Group tickets are lower fare tickets and carry restrictions. The tickets are nonrefundable, non-transferrable, non–re-routable, and non-endorsable. Policies governing seat assignments for groups vary greatly by airline. Most airlines currently offer preferred seating, a system which allows them to charge additional fees for more desirable seats, which may include window and aisle seats. As a result, many seats displayed on airline seat maps are set aside for clients willing to pay additional fees for them. Some seats may only be accessible at airport check-in, although sometimes passengers with frequent flyer status may have earlier access. Seat assignments preferences are not guaranteed by Pollina Tours. Loss of assignments may occur, at any time, due to airline schedule changes, or even as a result of individual passengers making changes directly with airlines on their group seat assignments. In many cases, airlines will not assign seats for groups until approximately 30 days prior. At this time, Pollina Tours will do all possible to seat passengers together and in the best available seats. However, it may not be possible for Pollina Tours to assign seats of each passenger's individual choice. Once assigned, typically seats may only be changed at airport check-in. Domestic US flights, as well as flights within Europe, do not permit group seat assignments. An exact passport name is required to complete seat assignments. Subsequent name corrections may result in the loss of seat assignments, in addition to other fees. Some airlines reserve the right to refuse subsequent seat changes, once preliminary seat assignments have been completed. Airline reservation agents are often prohibited from assisting with seat requests for group reservations.

Group Hotel Booking

POLLINA TOURS makes the booking of the hotel in the specified hotel in “Standard” twin-bedded (two single beds) rooms or “Standard” double bedded (one double bed) room with private facilities, unless you have specifically requested and paid for an upgraded room category. Special requests, such as bed types, smoking preference and connecting rooms are subject to availability. Room selection in all cases, unless otherwise reserved, is strictly at the discretion of the hotel's management on a run-of-house basis.

Group Dinner Booking

POLLINA TOURS make the reservation for the Group Dinner arrangements at the hotel or local restaurants based on the hotel or restaurant’s Buffet or Set dinner menu basis policy. All efforts are made to offer Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian menu choice to the Group members. However, Pollina Tours cannot make multiple dinner menu request based on each group members’ individual request, personal taste, likes and dislikes.

Is this tour right for you?

This active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from two to three hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps, significant slopes, along with narrow and possibly slippery paths at the falls. When visiting Machu Picchu, please be aware that walking sticks are not allowed in some areas of the archaeological site and must be carried in a backpack. Prescriptions are required for walking sticks to be allowed at the Machu Picchu archaeological site and must be rubber tipped. Also selfie sticks are forbidden and only folding umbrellas are allowed. A few early wake-ups, some at 4 or 5 AM, as well as one long 10-hour drive to Puno are necessary to cover the territory. The altitude, 11,000 feet in Cuzco and 12,400 feet in Puno, may be a consideration for those who have heart conditions or are otherwise affected by high altitude. We suggest you check with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour. Some hotels in Cuzco and Puno are built in the traditional local style and have no air-conditioning. During heat waves, these hotels can become uncomfortable, even at higher elevations.

After breakfast, a city tour of Lima including a visit to the colonial centre including the Main Square, the Cathedral and the San Francisco Church. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Free day at leisure to relax and acclimatise to the high altitude.

Afternoon guided visit of the four ruins nearby; the Sacsayhuaman Fortress overlooking the city of Cuzco, a pre Inca architectural masterpiece; Kenko, a rock sanctuary whose main attraction is the monolithic altar representing a puma, the red Fortress of Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, a beautiful fountain fed by a spring forming a series of basins continue to the city of Cuzco; the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Return to your hotel.

Full-day excursion to the Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the village of Pisac, founded during Colonial times. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the Indians barter their products, and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions and jewellery. On Sundays, it is also the meeting place for the local Mayors of the region, who come dressed in their traditional costumes, to attend morning mass. After a buffet lunch, a visit to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town which is still inhabited. Explore the ruins above Ollantaytambo before returning to Cuzco via the traditional market town of Chinchero. Return to your hotel.

Meals: B & L

An early transfer to the railway station in Poroy for the 6.30 am train to Aguas Calientes. Arrival to Aguas Calientes and transfer to the bus terminal for the short ride (25 minutes) up to Machu Picchu. You will arrive in time for a guided group visit of the most spectacular ancient city in the world. This fabulous city contains houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour, free time to enjoy this spiritual wonder. Opportunity for a guided trek (approx 1 hour) up to the sungate (Intipunku), which is a part of the Inca Trail, for a magical view of the sanctuary or alternatively an unguided climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary (recommended for fit individuals only. Meals: B & D

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and connecting flight to Rio de Janeiro.

Arrival early in the morning at 04.49, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free day.

After breakfast, a half day visit of the 'marvelous city' including a sightseeing tour to Sugar Loaf Mountain. A two-stage cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy a splendid view of Rio, Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay. Return to your hotel.

After breakfast, a half day visit to Corcovado, the mountain home to the world famous, Christo de Redentor statue for a magnificent 360° panoramic view of Rio. After, a trip to the Tijuca forest, a luxuriant tropical forest only minutes away from this huge metropolis. The Tijuca Forest is considered the largest urban forest in the world. It has 330 square kms of preserved Mata Atlântica (Tropical Forest), the highest mountaintops of Rio, waterfalls and hidden caves. A rich flora, with a great biodiversity and an incomparable natural beauty. The caves in the Tijuca Forest are formed of limestone and were originally formed by movements of the crust that caused the collapse of stones from the Papagaio Peak and the Archer Mountain. These stones started to form caves with rocky formations. Another important point is the great variety of bromeliads. The Tijuca Forest is considered to hold the largest concentration of different species of bromeliads in Brazil. Even more than the Amazon Jungle. Return to your hotel.

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Iguazu. Arrival at 12.35, reception and transfer to your hotel, the Continental Inn. Half day excursion to the Argentinean side of the falls. Transfer across the border to get a closer appreciation of these magnificent waterfalls.

After breakfast, a half day excursion to the fabulous UNESCO World Heritage Iguazu falls, the most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls. The falls lie on the three borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Ride on the Great Aventura, zodiac boats which go nearly under the falls themselves. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

After breakfast, a city tour of perhaps the most cosmopolitan city in South America. Most of the population is of European descent and the city is reminiscent of Paris. It is situated on the Rio de la Plata, and as its name suggests, it is the city of good winds. The tour will include a visit to the Plaza de Mayo, the hub of the city centre and where many public buildings such as the Catedral Metropolitana can be found. At the east end, you will find the Casa Rosada presidential palace with the famous balcony from which Juan and Evita Peron greeted the masses. You shall also visit La Boca, Buenos Aires' most colourful neighbourhood. San Telmo, just a few blocks south of Plaza de Mayo is the artist's quarter, what some believe to be Buenos Aires' most interesting feature. Return to your hotel.

Today, a full day Fiesta Gaucha Excursion, visiting a typical "estancia" in the pampas. This is a visit to a typical "estancia" or Ranch, in the one of the most fertile and natural prairies of the world, the Argentine. Here you will see the work of the famous Gaucho, the Argentinean cowboy. Return to your hotel.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
