While driving if you use the turn signal, the cruise control will turn off. Left, Right, makes no difference. Also while driving the turn signal will randomly come on and cause the vehicle to accelerate until the brake pedal is depressed.

Cruise control not working

Hey guys I really need to fix this issue with my cruise control. It has always worked. And then just the other day it stopped working. I need to know what fuses I need to check and any other possible solution I could do to fix it. Thanks yall  

after checking for fuses, check the brake switch. most common cause of failure.  

my cruise went out right before an injector cup went bad a few days later. Got all the cups & injectors changed. And the cruise mysteriously started working again?  

Mine dose not work on my 04 gmc if the brake switch is bad is that separate from the one for the taillights?  

Check the over cab brake light bulb....if its burnt out it may not allow CC....somethiing about how it all ties into the BCM  

I didnt know that went through the bcm too Ive had a fair amount of trouble with passlock 2 who ever did the remote start in the truck hacked quite a few wires  

If the brake lights work could the cruise control be affected by the brake light switch.  

Dose the switch in the turn signal lever go bad ever  

Common problem is the tiny cruise control wires break, where they are secured to the steering column.  

So like down under the clam shell plastic?  

Okay guys so I thought I should just update y'all on this. Now that I think about it, it makes sense. So the cruise control stopped working whenever I replaced the dome lights above the driver and passenger. I put in LEDs. Well I didn't like the color of the LEDs so I got new ones. I put them in and the cruise control was working again. So yeah. Really weird. As weird as it sounds, those lights had something to do with it.  

Now you got me thinking about going out there and pulling my leds out but mine hasn't worked since before those anyways.

Yeah it was really weird. Really stumped. Hahah. But I will take it.  

Any news on the LEDs? I have LEDs in mine and it was working great for about a month until last night. Normally my data link through my OBD2 port goes to my security system. But when I want to reflash the PCM I have to switch it over to the module, well I forgot to switch it back and went to remote start my truck from inside and it just turns over a bunch of times but never starts until I switch that data link back over. After I did that on accident my cruise stopped working. I noticed I forgot to turn the switch off on the blinker lever before this all happened. So I'll be checking fuses and stuff tonight after work. But I'm hoping it's not the LEDs cause I love them!  

Hello, I am just a girl so I really don't know about automotive. I have always taken my (year 2002) GMC 3500 Dually Pick-up Truck to the same mechanic. All of the sudden the truck accelerated on my driveway and luckily hit a chest freezer in the garage. Otherwise the truck would have ending up in my house! It was never a problem in the past. It is always parked outside, so someone obviously tampered with it! Then it got stolen from my driveway! I have reported it to the local Police and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Have never received any help! Frustrate. Do you know of any online website where I could get some help? My cell phone went out as well even though the bill is paid directly through the bank's user interface. I am disabled and working from home. I have reported someone that has stole my home delivery of my groceries! Thank you in advance. Peace to you.

Cruise control not working.

I was recently on a short trip and tried to turn on my CC it did not work the light on my steering wheel came on but not my dash and it would not stay at the speed i wanted I read on here from other post the it most likely the brake light switch but my brakes lights work fine so I just want to be sure if this is the problem or before I go and buy a part I don't need, any info?  

I'd suspect the brake light switch. I think it is two switches in one, one for the lights and one for the cruise control. I'd say just the one part for the cruise is bad.

Check your fuses.  

checked all the fuses theyre fine gonna buy the brake light switch hopefully thats the problem, thanks anyway.  

I'm having this same problem, sometimes it will work and other times it won't. Where is this brake light switch located at?  

It is under the dash and should be connected to the brake pedal.  

Son in law just put the switch in his 2008 ,now the cruise works fine.a 12 dollar part.i wish they where all that cheap to fix.  

Just did the switch on my 09 and now the cruise works perfectly.

2010 Silverado Cruise Control Issues

Hello all, Had to open a new account because I lost my password and no longer have that email Vehicle in question is a 2010 silverado 5.3 Z71 I recently replaced my brake booster and master cylinder. All went well and brakes are functioning but now my cruise control is not working. The light on the steering wheel switch comes on but it does not set. I did some research and it sounded like the brake pedal switch. I changed that and no luck - further more my brake lights don't stay on and they illuminate properly. Also, double confirmed brake booster part numbers with chevrolet and the replacement was ACdelco. Any ideas?  

Perhaps the switch and brake arm are just a little out of adjustment. The switch is a double contact switch. One set is for brake lights, the 2nd set is an on/off signal to the Body Control Module.  

I thought that as well but there really isn't an adjustment unless I am missing something. The unit will only go on and clip in one way and the channeled flat face sits square on the pedal. I can push up on it and hear a click but it returns right back to its position .There is no way to keep it up as far as I can tell  

it is possible the brake pedal does not go back/lift up as before due to the booster change or the master. why did you do this change,, a booster and master at the same time ? sounds like a guess game .  

Just found out brother said brake booster is already gone .........  

called acdelco to see if that booster only had the push rod adjustment or a push rod and pedal adjustment - they did not know. Would the pushrod that hits the master cylinder effect where the brake returns too? Just to clarify I can grab the pedal and pull back and it will not budge  

In your first post, you said "my brake lights don't stay on" can you provide more detail?  

To clarify I'm just stating there is normal operation of the brake lights - if the brake pedal is not being pressed the brake lights do not come on, when pressed all 3 do.  

Ok, I thought maybe they were on/off with brake pressed. Ok, good info. So, could you have knocked a wire off the switch, maybe broken a wire? I don't know, just grabbing straws and typing as I think about it. You haven't said, but I assume CC worked before you started the MC work?  

Yes, I had driven down for christmas using the CC - only thing I seem to remember is right before I got off the highway thinking the did the cc just not lock in? (but this is just a blur as I think back) Finally got someone at ACdelco to answer some questions and they said there IS an adjustment on the pedal side as well as the internal push rod (set at factory so do not touch) Does this sound right?  

My '09 should be the same; but I don't have a factory manual. Without the manual, I'm only guessing; but I would think there must be an adjustment somewhere. Do you have the adjustable pedals option, it the one that lets the driver move the pedals to match leg length?  

Nope standard pedal but the guy said you have to set the pedal position by rotating the rod. I am going to give that a try and see if it comes out at all.  

I think I found whats going on - 1st I am an idiot. When I was testing I was under 25mph so it would not engage. Turned out to be the switch and possibly the harness.

Thanks for that - new development though - Now I'm getting a random check trailer brake system message. The reason I said the harness in my resolution post was because when I jiggled the wiring while test driving that popped up - it is shared in the harness with the Cruise control. If this turns out to be the harness this will be the second one replaced on a 6 year old truck with 65K miles - the first was an SRS wire. Is there anything I can do about this or just piss and moan?  

I'd try a battery reset, it might go away  

Tried that it ditched the check engine light but driving today I got the DIC message 2 times. I acknowledge and it goes away but obviously something is tripping it.  

Hmmm, could there be wet dirt on, or behind, the trailer connector?  

Possible ill check but it has never done this before the overall issue Ive been having or before I jiggled the wires. I didn't do anything major just a quick wiggle with my hand and that was it. One thing I did notice is there are some wires under there that look like they were simply cut. This would be from factory as I am the original owner and can for sure say nothing has gone on under there.  

I assume you have the factory trailer brake controller, there are cut wires under there to add an aftermarket brake controller.  

Yes OEM contorller. Just didn't know if maybe the cut ends were shorting. I highly doubt it though  

They are blunt cut and coiled and taped up. But I don't know if the ITBC use that bundle or not. If they don't use the bundle it might be deleted. The ITBC trucks have the trailer brakes integrated with the Stabilitrac. It's added at the factory when the truck is built and can't be added later. Ted  

I've looked at the wiring diagram, it would be extremely difficult to add it to a truck. I've even thought of using the factory panel (on my truck it's the left kick panel) with the slider and connecting a 3rd party controller to it. Didn't want it bad enough to really look into it. BTW @General Disarray new , one of those wires (if it is the controller leads) needs to be connected to battery at the fuse box before it can be used by a 3rd party controller; so there's probably nothing to short.

I have a lift but that doesn't cause these issues LOL I was already about done with it but the problem is A) the new ones are outrageously expensive and 2) I am worried ill be right back same issues at 65K Issues so far: - MAster Cylinder & Brake booster - Driver Door Harness (SRS) - 1 spark plug - Brake switch - Driver door window switch - Whatever is going on now (if its the harness dealer said its a $400 item, I'm calling chevrolet to see if I can get any sort of forgiveness with all the other issues) - UCA, LCA, Front bearings due to my lift but those are my fault. - Rust spot behind corners of my Third Brake light

Im definitely going to report just like I did on the SRS. Is there any avenues with Chevy? Our local dealer sucks

Cruise control will not work

Every morning I go to turn on my cruise as I drive to work and it will not turn on. It does not matter if it is cold, hot or foggy out. I have also turned my car off and restarted it and the cruise still does not turn on. I get to where I am going, I turn the car off, restart it and the cruise will turn on. my car is a 2022.  

With these computers on wheels have electronic gremlins strike the first thing to do is have the battery LOAD tested.  

First thing to do.... if make sure the brake lights are off, when you drive.  

Being a 2022, this should be under warranty (unless you're over the 36k miles)  

Code scan is in order. There are 4 code families that need to be scanned, and some codes will not turn on a check engine light or ABS light. Without a comprehensive scan your just throwing darts with modern computer vehicles.  

Your car is still under warranty, isnt't it?  

Does the Traverse run off of vacuum like many others? Could be a slight vac leak. Now this next is gonna sound weird but it worked. We had a 2014 Jeep Patriot that the cruise quit working with along with other steering wheel controls. The online solution was to smack the steering wheel in the 8 or 9 o'clock position hard with your palm. 1 hard smack and everything worked again. Something with the clock spring in the steering wheel.  

Cruise has been electronically controlled for years now.
