We booked this with very little research on a recommended from a friend. If you stop here, atleast read these few tips: 1.) Bring layers or even a blanket. 2.) Bring snacks and beverages. 3.) Plan to spend some time in Gills rock, there are little shops, restaurants, and an ice cream place. Our captain was Robbo and the crew for the day was Bunny. Kids 12 and under were half price (bonus), and as my 12 year old said, "it.was.awesome!". They had a great knowledge of Door County and local shipwrecks. The captain was also a diver so was able to tell us about what the shipwrecks looked like from the bottom of the water. The took us to Plum Island to give a very thorough history of Deaths Door Passage, the ships that travel through it, and the lighthouses. We also drove around Pilot Island, to learn about its past and current state (which was bizarre). You could tell they really cared about the area and wanted to pass their knowledge on to us. Before leaving it was a nice warm day in door county, by the time we got out on the water we found ourselves putting on all our layers, so pack accordingly. The crew encouraged food and beverages, which we regretted not bringing. Tips are appreciated!
It was a great day for sailing on Lake Michigan and the staff at Shoreline made the cruise even more enjoyable. Reservations can be made over the phone or online. The cost is $39 for adults and you can sign up for the cruise on the day or evening that you want to travel. The boat is an old Navy vessel from the 1980's and is well maintained and safe. There are life jackets under the seats and a small bathroom. It would have been nice if the crew had served cold water and soft drinks. When on the cruise you will see 3 lighthouses and a few shipwrecks. The captain and one crew member will keep you entertained with local history and they do a very good job. The cruise lasts for 2 hours and it is worth your time and money.
Nice cruise. Very friendly staff. We were able to see two shipwrecks and two lighthouses. I recommend this cruise.
During my first trip up to Door County from Chicago, my boyfriend and I stumbled across Shoreline Charters' sunset cruise. It seemed like a relaxing way to spend a few hours, and it completely exceeded our expectations. With a group of about 10, the boat cruised around Green Bay, pointing out some interesting sights while also leaving plenty of time to relax and just enjoy the sunset. Capt. Gaydean and David were knowledgeable and comfortable, and gave just enough information about the area and its history without droning on. We were also encouraged to bring our own snacks and drinks, which was a nice touch. We sailed from Sister Bay, and I highly recommend checking it out. The sunset cruise is not appropriate for kids, but they have plenty of other cruises that may fit your family's needs.

The mood above board.
Whether you’re an angler, a sailor, a paddler, a canoeist, or a family looking to get its feet wet for the first time, Door County has a way to get you on the water. Nearly 300 miles of Door County shoreline, plus several public islands, mean the opportunities to get on the water are endless. Paddle-Powered Vessels
Kayaking & Canoeing Spending an afternoon paddling on a lake or river is a must-try experience in Door County. If you have your own, find kayak launches here. If not, rent one locally or consider taking a kayaking tour of Cave Point, Mink River Estuary, the Niagara Escarpment, sunken shipwrecks, lighthouses, and various islands, bays, and harbors. Gear is included with rentals, and most kayak providers offer single and tandem options.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding As stand up paddle-boarding gets more and more popular, Door County paddling businesses are answering the demand. Explore the area's waterways up close on a SUP tour or relax with some SUP yoga or other on-water activities.
Leave No Trace: Kayaking Basics
Stick to Trails When launching and landing your boat or stopping for a break, do your best to use durable surfaces, such as areas where vegetation is absent, established boat launches, rock, sand, gravel, or dry grass. Shoreline vegetation is fragile and can be easily damaged by visitors and their boats. When traveling to and from the water, always stick to established trails and pathways.
Leave It as You Find It Avoid introducing invasive plant and animal species by cleaning equipment between trips. Always wash, drain, and dry your kayak before putting it into a new body of water.
Keep Wildlife Wild Kayaking is a great way to experience Door County’s wildlife. Even on the water, be sure to keep your distance from wildlife and keep your noise levels down so that you can experience wildlife in their natural habitat. Avoid wildlife during sensitive times including mating, nesting, and spawning. Do your research and be aware of when and where wildlife might be during these times.

Equipped with ice-breaking technology, these huge fancy yachts are the only river cruisers running all year around. The round trip journey takes two and a half hours and floats past all the big sights like the White House, Novodevichy monastery and the Kremlin. For a particularly romantic experience take one of the evening boats and admire the bright lights of the city skyline at night.
