MIA Airport Terminals

MIA is a U-shaped airport with parking situated inside the “U” and the departure concourses on the outside.

There is 1 large terminal building that is split into the North Terminal, Central Terminal, and South Terminal, however, all terminals are interconnected by moving walkways located on Level 3.

Within each terminal, arrivals and baggage claim are on Level 1, departures and ticketing are on Level 2, and access to terminal connections and the MIA Mover is on Level 3.

Concourse D has 50 gates numbered D1 to D12, D14 to D17, D19 to D34, D37 to D51, D53, D55, and D60, serving international and domestic flights.

The Skytrain runs along most of the length of the concourse (which from end-to-end is 1 mile), with 4 stations along the route.

There are 4 security checkpoints between the North Terminal and Concourse D — 3 near the ticketing areas and 1 small checkpoint near the Central Terminal. Once through this checkpoint, passengers can walk to the secure area of Concourse E through a connector bridge.

Concourse D has lots of shops and restaurants to pass the time, as well as an XpressSpa, The Centurion Lounge , and 2  Admirals Club locations.

The Central Terminal consists of Concourses E, F, and G situated at the bottom end of the U-shape. Each concourse has its own shops and restaurants inside the secure area, with more outside of security, along with the Miami International Airport Hotel.

Concourses E and F operate international and domestic flights; whereas, Concourse G operates domestic flights only.

Concourse E has a total of 18 gates with gates E2 and E4 to E11 in the main concourse, and gates E20 to E25, E30, E31, and E33 located in a satellite building accessible via a walkway or a train.

Concourse E is connected to Concourse D within the secure area via a connector bridge opposite gate E2.

Concourse F has 19 gates numbered F3 to F12, F14 to F21, and F23. All gates can be reached from the security checkpoint within a 3- to 5-minute walk.

Concourse G  has 14 gates numbered G2, G4 to G12, G14 to G16, and G19, with all gates accessible to walk to within 3 to 5 minutes from the security checkpoint.

Apart from connections between Concourse E and D, all other passengers must exit the secure area and use the moving walkways on Level 3 to travel to their connecting concourse.

The South Terminal provides direct access to Concourses H and J that operate both international and domestic flights.

Passengers can travel between these 2 concourses within the secure area via a connecting walkway. This is also where most of the shops and restaurants are situated for both concourses.

Concourse H has 17 gates numbered H3 to H12 and H14 to H20. Concourse J has 15 gates numbered J2 to J5, J7 to J12, and J14 to J18.

To connect to another concourse, passengers are required to exit the secure area and take the moving walkways on Level 3 to their next concourse, where they will need to re-clear security again.

The Skytrain operates every 3 minutes along the mile-long Concourse D, and passengers can access the train from 4 stations along the route. Stations are located:

• Near gate D17 — serving gates D1 to D19
• Near gate D25 — serving gates D20 to D25
• Near gate D29 — serving gates D26 to D39 and E1 to E35
• Near gate D46 — serving gates D40 to D60

MIA E Train

The MIA E Train transports passengers from Concourse E to the satellite terminal to access gates E20 to E33. The train departs from Level 4 in the main concourse.

Passengers can ride the MIA Mover (located between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages on the third level) to the Rental Car Center and Central Station.

Passengers can walk between all terminals and concourses at MIA. However, it’s not possible to remain inside the secure area at all times. It’s possible to stay airside when connecting between Concourses D and E and between Concourses H and J (as long you’re not arriving on an international flight).

When connecting between all other concourses, passengers must clear security at the entrance of the concourse.

Security and Customs at MIA

MIA has 10 security checkpoints located across the airport with 4 located within Concourse D.

Concourses E, F, and G have a security checkpoint at each entrance, and Concourses H and J have a security checkpoint at their respective entrances, plus one in the H/J connector. Checkpoints are open during the following hours:

Concourse D (North Terminal)

• Checkpoint 1: 4:45 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
• Checkpoint 2: Open 24 hours
• Checkpoint 3: 4 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.
• Checkpoint 4: 4:45 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Central Terminal

• Checkpoint 5 (Concourse E): 5 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.
• Checkpoint 6 (Concourse F): 3:45 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.
• Checkpoint 7 (Concourse G): 3:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.

South Terminal

• Checkpoint 8 (Concourse H): 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Checkpoint 9 (H/J Connector): Open 24 hours
• Checkpoint 10 (Concourse J): 9:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There are dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes at some security checkpoints at MIA that are open during standard checkpoint hours:

• Concourse D: Checkpoint 1

MIA has a TSA PreCheck Enrollment Center located pre-security at the east end of North Terminal – Concourse D on the fourth floor , so you can apply and arrange an interview the next time you’re at MIA. The enrollment center is open Monday through Friday with the following hours:

• 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hot Tip:  TSA PreCheck can be extremely useful for regular travelers flying out of MIA as it consistently falls under the 5 U.S. airports with the longest security wait times . 

MIA has Global Entry kiosks for eligible passengers who have enrolled in the program. If you have been conditionally approved and need to arrange an interview, MIA has a Global Entry Enrollment Center in Concourse J on the second level . The office is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.

MIA participates in Enrollment on Arrival at Concourse D from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m., and at Concourse J, open 24 hours. Passengers can complete an interview at MIA without the need to make an appointment.

MIA accepts Mobile Passport Control for passengers arriving in the U.S. from an international flight.

Eligible passengers must complete the “new trip” section within the app on arrival at MIA and present both their electronic receipt and passport to a CBP agent.

The CLEAR Security Program is available at concourses E, F, G, H, and J security checkpoints. CLEAR is available from 4:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. at all available checkpoints, apart from Concourse H which is open from 4:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.

MIA Airport Lounges

MIA has 10 airline lounges, with just 3 available for passengers to purchase day passes for. Other lounges are reserved for premium class passengers or those with elite frequent flyer status or eligible credit cardholders.

MIA has dozens of restaurants, cafes, and food stations across the 3 terminals. If you arrive early for your flight, the best selection of restaurants outside of the secure area is in the Central Terminal.

Free Wi-Fi is available at MIA but features mandatory advertising. Uninterrupted services are available for $4.95 (standard service) and $7.95 (premium service). Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport in all indoor public areas.

Miami Airport’s lost and found is located in the North Terminal on Level 4 and is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

All items lost in the parking lots, curbside areas, or employee shuttles will be stored in the lost and found office for 30 days. If an item is lost on an airplane, passengers are advised to contact the applicable airline , and if lost at the Rental Car Center, then passengers can call 888-761-8227.

Additional Airport Information

MIA has information counters located in Concourses D, E, H, and J, with the main counter located in the Central Terminal E on level 2. Counters are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Paging can be requested by using one of the white courtesy phones that are positioned throughout the terminal.

An interactive children’s area called “Plane Fun” is located in Concourse E, near gate E5. Children can listen to real conversations between pilots and the control tower and pretend to be air traffic controllers.

MIA has duty-free stores located in every concourse.

Designated smoking areas are located outside the terminals on the departures (Level 2) and arrivals (Level 1) level, and inside Concourse D at the TGI Friday’s outdoor patio (near gate D36).

There is an interfaith chapel on the 1st level of Concourse D between international arrivals and carousel 22.

ATMs are located throughout Concourses D, E, F, G, H, and J.

Luggage storage facilities are located on level 2 of Central Terminal E. Storage is available from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. with daily rates from $6.

Travel to and From MIA

MIA Mover : Passengers can ride the MIA Mover from between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages on the third level to the Rental Car Center and the Central Station.

Metrorail : Trains depart from Central Station every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes at weekends. MIA is on the orange line with stations through to Dadeland South. To connect to the green line, change at Earlington Heights for stations to Palmetto.

Tri-Rail : Trains run from MIA (Central Station) through Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach and Mangonia Park.

Brightline : Ride the orange Metrorail to Central Station where you can pick up the Brightline service to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando.

MetroBus : MIA is served by bus routes 37, 42, 57, J, 150 Miami Beach Express, and East-West Connection from the airport Central Station. 

Miami Beach Bus : The Miami Beach Bus runs from the airport Central Station to Miami Beach (41st Street to South Pointe Drive). Buses run daily from 6 a.m. to 11:40 p.m. and cost $2.25.

Trolley : The City of Miami Trolley is a free service with several routes running throughout the city. The Flagami route runs to and from Miami Central Station/Rental Car Center, or passengers can take the Metrorail orange line to connect to the Coral Way Trolley route.

Private and shared-ride shuttles are available from outside the baggage claim areas on the ground level of the airport. Advanced reservations are required and can be arranged by calling 305-871-1000.

Hotel shuttles pick up and drop off on the upper level outside of departures.

Shared Ride Services

Ride services such as Uber , Lyft , and Wingz can drop off passengers at the departures level and pick up at the arrivals level at the middle median.

Taxis are available from outside of the arrivals area on the ground level. Metered taxis have a minimum fare of $15 for routes originating at the airport. Various flat rates are also available.

Arriving From Downtown Miami

Take I-25 North and take exit 3A to merge onto FL-836 West/I-395 towards Airport/U M/Jackson/VA Hospitals. Keep left at the fork, following signs for NW 14th Street. Merge onto NW 14th Street and take a slight right onto the slip road to Airport North. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Rental Car Center, and merge onto NW 25th Street for access to the airport.

Arriving From South Beach

Take the MacArthur Causeway and continue onto I-395 West. Keep right to stay on I-395 West and continue onto FL-836 West. Take the NW 37th Avenue exit towards Florida 953/Le Jeune Road/Douglas Road and keep left at the fork. Follow signs for NW 14th Street and merge onto NW 14th Street.

Arriving From Fort Lauderdale (Toll Route)

Take I-95 South and keep left at the fork. Take the exit towards FL-826 and merge onto I-95 South. Keep left to stay on I-95 South, follow signs for Miami and use the left lane to take the exit towards Express Lanes. Merge onto I-95 Express and use the left lane to merge onto FL-112 West. Use the left 2 lanes to take the Le Jeune Road south exit. Merge onto FL-953 South/S. Le Jeune Rd. and use the left 2 lanes to turn slightly left onto NW 25th Street. Use the right 3 lanes to turn slightly right for access to the airport.

MIA Airport Parking Information

There are 2 main parking lots at MIA — the Dolphin garage and the Flamingo garage. The Dolphin garage serves Concourses D and E and the Flamingo garage serves Concourses F, G, H, and J.

For oversized vehicles, there is a high vehicle parking lot area located adjacent to the east side of the Dolphin garage.

Valet Parking

Valet parking is available on the second level of the Dolphin and Flamingo parking garages.

• 0 to 3 hours (first day only): $22
• 3 to 24 hours: $35

Hot Tip: Electric vehicle charging points are available on level 1 parking between Terminals E and G and in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages on level 2 valet parking. 

Pick-Up or Drop-Off Parking

The cell phone waiting lot has 60 spaces that friends and family can use to wait in until they receive a call from the passenger. The lot is located close to the airport just off LeJeune Road and NW 31 Street.

Although MIA airport parking isn’t the most expensive daily rate we’ve seen, off-site parking can offer cheaper rates.

Off-site parking starts at just $10 per day when booking with airportparkingreservations.com . These third-party sites can be used to compare rates for available parking and sort by distance from the airport.

Accessible parking for passengers with disabilities is located on Level 3 and the ground level of both parking lots. Standard parking rates apply, however, vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit or license tag receive 2 hours of free parking.

The Miami International Airport Hotel is an on-site hotel that is accessible from Concourse E on the departures level. There are also many off-site hotels that are under 2 miles from the airport that offer courtesy shuttle services to/from the airport.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Miami Airport East offers guests convenient access to Midtown Doral, Coral Gables, and Miami International Airport. The hotel offers free amenities such as high-speed Internet access, a hot breakfast, shuttle services to/from MIA, a daily newspaper, a 24-hour business center, a 600-square-foot fitness center, an outdoor heated pool, and a Jacuzzi. Award nights at the hotel start at just 24,000 points per night.

The Hilton Miami Airport is Miami’s only airport resort . The resort features a 24-hour fitness center, outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, an on-site restaurant, and 2 bars. The hotel’s large 3,000-square-foot pool makes a good place for you and your family to pass the time between flights. As with many major U.S. airports, MIA is thinking about the future. With passenger numbers rising, in 2019, Miami-Dade County commissioners agreed to fund $5 billion for improvements to the airport over the next 5 to 15 years.

Getting to and from Miami Airport is easy, thanks to its convenient transportation options. From taxis and rental cars to public transportation and shuttle services, there are plenty of ways to reach your destination. To access, use the MIA Mover, located on Level 3 between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. The Rental Car Centre is open 24/7 but some operators close at night.

Many hotels in the area offer airport shuttle service. These shuttles pick up and drop off passengers on the Arrivals Level 1 outside baggage claim, across from doors 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 15, 20, and 23.

This travels between the Miami Intermodal Center (MIA) and Miami Beach. The Miami Beach Bus makes traveling to/from Miami International Airport to Miami Beach fast, easy, and convenient. For just $2.25 each way, passengers can ride aboard 40-foot buses. The Airport Flyer runs every 30 minutes and provides express service from 6:00 AM to 11:40 PM, seven days a week. • To move between terminals, you can use the moving walkways on Level 3.
• The Sky Train, unfortunately, is temporarily unavailable. However, if you need to go from one end of Concourse D to the other, it would take approximately 30 minutes on foot. To save time, you could normally take the SkyTrain, which has 4 stations every quarter-mile along the route. The operating hours are from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
• For transportation between the terminals and the car rental facility, you can use the MIA Mover. Just head to the moving walkways on the 3rd level to reach the Central Terminal and the MIA Mover Station.

If you’re up for some distant adventures, the Tri-Rail offers service to Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Additionally, Metro Bus routes 37, 42, 57, J, East-West Connection, and 150 Miami Beach Airport Express connect travelers from the airport to the surrounding region.

Uber and Lyft are available throughout the US. A ride to Miami Downtown Center will cost you around $24. Look for ride-sharing pick-up zones outside doors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, 15, 20, and 23.

MIA Airport Maps & Guide

As one of the busiest airports in the United States, Miami Airport offers a range of facilities and services to make air travel as smooth as possible for passengers. With six terminals, each with its unique features and facilities, the airport has everything you need to make your journey comfortable and enjoyable. This terminal guide and maps will help you understand and navigate the airport with ease, scroll down for more detailed information.

Airport Terminal Layout

Do you know your specific departure or arrival terminal at Miami Airport? MIA Airport has three main terminals, North, South, and Central Terminals. Within each terminal are individual concourses, which are:

• Concourse D: North Terminal MIA
• Concourses E, F, & G: Central Terminal
• Concourses H & J: South Terminal

Each terminal is designed to cater to different airlines and services. The airport has a user-friendly layout, making it easy for passengers to navigate through the terminals and access various amenities.

Airlines By Terminal

Concourse D is the largest terminal at the airport and is used by major airlines such as American Airlines, Delta, and United Airlines. Concourse E is used by airlines such as Air France, British Airways, and Lufthansa. Concourse F is used by airlines such as Aer Lingus, Avianca, and Emirates. Concourse G is used by airlines such as Bahamasair, Frontier, and Sun Country. Concourse H is used by airlines such as Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines. Getting Between Terminals

Passengers can easily get between the terminals at MIA by using the Skytrain, which is a free automated people mover system that operates 24/7. The Skytrain runs between Concourses D and J, with stops at Concourses E and H. The journey between terminals takes approximately 5 minutes. Access is via the main terminals, using the escalators or elevators up one level.

Within the D concourse is a free shuttle (golf carts) that can carry a few passengers and their bags within the terminal. Look for signs that designate the pick-up points.

Walking between the terminal’s concourses is possible, but note that each concourse has its own security, so take that into account when calculating transit times.

• If you have some time before your flight's departure, be sure to grab some food to-go or peruse the shops, but be sure to return to the gate before boarding time!

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)

MIA Airport has multiple security checkpoints located throughout the airport. The main security checkpoint is located in Concourse D, but there are also checkpoints in Concourses E, F, G, H, and J. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight to allow enough time to go through security.

Fast Track Lanes and Locations

The airport offers a TSA PreCheck program, which allows eligible passengers to use the fast track lanes and expedite the security screening process. The TSA PreCheck lanes are located in Concourse D and Concourse J. In addition, there are also Global Entry kiosks located in the passport control area for expedited customs clearance for eligible passengers.

Passport & Immigration Control Locations

The passport and immigration control area is located in Concourse D of MIA. This is where international passengers will go through customs and immigration. There are also Global Entry kiosks located in this area for expedited customs clearance for eligible passengers. Domestic passengers do not need to go through passport control.

Global Entry Locations

Miami Airport is home to several Global Entry locations, which allow travelers to expedite the customs and immigration process when entering the United States. Global Entry is a program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to bypass the traditional customs and immigration lines and use automated kiosks instead. To be eligible for Global Entry, travelers must apply and be approved by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency. Once approved, travelers can use Global Entry kiosks at participating airports, including MIA Airport, to speed up their entry into the United States.

CLEAR Lane Locations

CLEAR is a service that allows travelers to bypass long security lines and get through airport security faster. At the airport, CLEAR services are available at multiple terminals. CLEAR Plus lanes are located in the following terminal(s):

• Checkpoint E
• Checkpoint F
• Checkpoint G
• Checkpoint H
• Checkpoint J

If you are unsure of when to leave for the airport, you can check wait times at MIA. This will give you an idea of how long the security lines are and help you plan your arrival time accordingly.

Baggage Claim Areas

Baggage claim areas at Miami Airport are located on the lower level of the terminals. There are four baggage claim areas in total, one for each terminal. Baggage claim carousels are clearly marked with flight information and airline logos. If you need assistance with your luggage, baggage carts are available for rent near the baggage claim areas.

Luggage Cart Pickup Points 

Luggage carts are available for rent at Miami MIA Airport. The cost is $6 per cart, and they can be found near the baggage claim areas. You can pay with cash or credit card. If you need assistance with your luggage, porters are available for hire at the airport. They can help you with your bags and guide you to your transportation.

Luggage Storage Locations (Left Luggage)

If you need to store your luggage at the airport, there are a few options available. The airport does not have a left luggage service, but there are luggage storage facilities located near the airport. One such facility is Luggage Storage Miami, which offers short-term and long-term storage options. Another option is Vertoe, which has multiple locations throughout the city and offers luggage storage by the hour, day, or week. Both options offer secure storage and insurance for your belongings.

MIA’s North Terminal: D Gates Map, Services & History

The North Terminal, also known as Concourse D, is a vast, bustling hub brimming with amenities designed to cater to the needs of every traveler, and was meticulously designed for effortless traveler navigation. In response to the escalating demand for air travel in the 1950s, Miami Municipal Airport underwent rapid expansion. Construction commenced in 1958 on Concourses E and F, marking the inception of the Central Terminal. These concourses were specifically designed to accommodate the increasing prevalence of large jetliners.

1970s and 1980s: The Central Terminal Matures

The Central Terminal underwent continuous expansion and modernization throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Notably, in 1984, a new baggage claim area was inaugurated, and by 1988, a state-of-the-art international arrivals terminal had been completed.

1990s to Today: Updates and Expansion

The Central Terminal saw numerous renovations and expansions, many of which are still visible today.

MIA’s South Terminal (H & J Gates)

Miami Airport Terminals and Concourses

The airport consists of three terminals and six concourses: North Terminal (Concourse D), Central Terminal (Concourses E, F, G), South Terminal (Concourses H, J).

Connection between terminals

To move between terminals, you must take the moving walkways on level 3. There are also moving walkways from the Central Terminal to the MIA Mover station (between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages), an automated transportation system that you can use free of charge to get to the Central Metro Station and the Car Rental Center.

The Skytrain service, located above the North Terminal, takes you from one end of Concourse D to the other, with 4 stations along its route. Use the elevators in Concourse D to reach the Skytrain stations.

Features a single concourse (D), which accommodates 30 million passengers annually and consists of 51 boarding gates.

Destinations: Operates American Airlines domestic and international flights.

Arrivals level

Level 1 houses the Arrivals area and baggage claim. Passengers can find various services on this level, including cabs and other means of transportation.

Check-in level

On level 2, passengers will find the check-in and baggage check desks, and access to the boarding gates after the security check.

Boarding area (Concourse D): Boarding gates are located on the second level and are numbered as follows: D1-D12, D14-D17, D19-D34, D36-D51, D53, D55 and D60. In this concourse, there are duty free stores, restaurants, cafes, spa, stores and other amenities and services.

From here, you can access the parking lots or board the MIA Mover to reach the Car Rental Center and the metro station. Also on this level is the SkyTrain , which allows you to transfer along Concourse D in just 5 minutes. There are 4 stations along the entire length of the hall.

VIP lounges - Flagship Lounge - Admirals Club - American Express Centurion

Destinations: Concourses E and F operate domestic and international flights, while Concourse G operates domestic flights only.

Level 1 houses the Arrivals and baggage claim halls, as well as various services and transportation facilities.

Check-in counters and security and boarding areas through Concourses E, F and G.

Concourse E: It has 18 gates: E2 and E4-E11 in the main hall, while in the satellite area are gates E20-E25 and E30, E31 and E33. To reach the latter, you can board a train on level 4. Concourse E is also home to the Miami International Airport Hotel .

Concourse F: It has 19 gates numbered F3-F12, F14-F19 and F23. All of them can be reached from the security checkpoint by foot in 3-5 minutes.

Concourse G: 14 gates numbered G1, G2, G4-G12, G14-G16 and G19, all accessible on foot and 3-5 minutes from the security checkpoint.

From this level, you access the parking lots and the MIA Mover , which allows you to reach the Car Rental Center or take the metro.

This level allows you to transfer to other gates.

VIP lounges - The Military Hospitality Lounge and the Turkish Airlines Lounge are located in Concourse E.

Destinations: Operates domestic and international destinations. Concourse H is mostly used by Delta Air Lines. Concourse J is where intercontinental flights are located.

In addition to the Arrivals Hall and the baggage claim area, level 1 houses various services and access to transportation.

Check-in counters and boarding gates are located on level 2.

Concourse H: 13 gates (H3-H12, H14, H15, H17).

Concourse J: 15 boarding gates: J2-J5, J7-J12 and J14-J18.

Access to parking lots and the MIA Mover transport service.

VIP lounges - In Concourse H, there is a Delta Sky Club and a Turkish Airlines Lounge, while in Concourse J there is a LATAM lounge.

Bonaire bills itself as the diver’s paradise,  which might seem a bit braggadocious for an island in a region where reefs surround nearly every beach. But Bonaire does diving a little differently, offering an island-wide tank refill program that means divers can come down for the week, get a rental car, throw as many tanks as they need into the car, and drive to one of more than 60 short diving locations. Rocks painted yellow mark spectacular shore dive sites along the coast, so you can literally road trip your way around Bonaire, stopping to dive wherever you see fit. Divers can then swap the empty tanks for full ones at multiple locations around the island.

The Salt Pier is one of the island’s most popular dive sites, where you’ll float between pylons and are likely to see squid, eels, and plenty of parrotfish. Advanced divers can explore the wreck of the Hilma Hooker, a 236-foot-long, fairly intact ship that sits at a max depth of 105 feet. The Miami International Airport (MIA) served more than 50.5 million passengers in 2022. With all the lively foot traffic upon entering the airport, you’ll likely want to seek comfort and quiet in an airport lounge as soon as you get airside.

Knowing where your nearest eligible airport lounges are in advance gives you more time to unwind before your flight. Here’s a list of all of the Miami airport lounges.

Miami International Airport lounges are located in every terminal, though you’ll need to meet the entry requirements of the lounge you’re interested in using. Many Miami airport lounges restrict access to travelers who have qualifying loyalty status or access through a credit card.

Travelers with Priority Pass , or who are willing to purchase a one-day pass might be able to gain lounge access. Admittance, however, is generally based on capacity during the time of your visit.

If you're departing from the north terminal, here are your closest lounges in the Miami airport.

Flagship Lounge

Location: Past security checkpoint, across from Gate D-30.

Hours: 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; open daily.

How to get in: Accessible to qualifying first and business-class customers, AAdvantage Executive Platinum , AAdvantage Platinum Pro , AAdvantage Platinum and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold , ConciergeKey , and Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members. To get in just show your boarding ticket for an American or another Oneworld carrier flight. 

Guests can enjoy complimentary food and drinks, and can access a specialty cocktail bar and wine table. There are also showers available to freshen up before your flight.

Admirals Club D-15 and D-30

Location: Two separate lounges, both past the security checkpoint. One is across from Gate D-15, and the other is across Gate D-30.

D-15 lounge: 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; open daily.

D-30 lounge: 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; open daily. 

How to get in: You must be an Admirals Club member, a non-AAdvantage Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire member, or be a qualifying first and business-class customer. Upon arrival, you must show your same-day ticket for a flight on American or another Oneworld flight, and provide a qualifying credit card (if applicable) for entry. Depending on capacity, you might be able to buy an Admirals Club One-Day Pass for $79. 

Guests receive complimentary food, drinks and access to a full-service bar. The lounges offer free Wi-Fi and showers, and the Admirals Club adjacent to Gate D-30 has a conference room that can be booked in advance.

The Centurion Lounge

Location: In concourse D, near Gate D-12. Take the elevator to the fourth floor.

Hours: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; open daily.

How to get in: The lounge is available to eligible The Platinum Card® from American Express members, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card members and Centurion members. Based on the limitations set by your credit card guest policy, you may bring a guest for $50 ($30 for children ages 2 through 17). Terms apply.

Visitors of the Centurion Lounge in the Miami airport can access spa services and showers, along with seasonal cuisine and a premium bar. It also offers a family room, and semi-private workspaces.

Travelers who are departing from MIA’s central terminal have a couple of lounge options. However, two lounges in this terminal are temporarily closed.

Military Hospitality Lounge

Location: Pre-security in Concourse E, second level.

Hours: 9 a.m .to 5 p.m. Thursday - Monday.

How to get in: You must be a U.S. or Allied active duty or retired military member with proof of same-day travel and your government-issued military ID. Your authorized dependents can also join you in the lounge.

The lounge offers hot beverages, water and soft drinks, as well as complimentary snacks.

Turkish Airlines Lounge

Location: Past the security checkpoint, go to Concourse E, on the second floor.

How to get in: Available for all Priority Pass members, and first and business class passengers of Turkish Airlines , United Airlines, Aer Lingus, Air Italy, LOT Airlines, TAP Portugal and all Star Alliance members. Be ready to show your same-day boarding pass and Priority Pass card, if applicable.

Guests have access to showers and Wi-Fi. You will also enjoy complimentary food and refreshments, including alcohol.

Snakes discovered in passenger's pants by TSA at Miami International Airport: See photos

Transportation Security Administration agents in South Florida got a slithery surprise after the federal agency reported finding snakes in a passenger's pants at an airport checkpoint.

According to TSA, the reptilian discovery took place at the Miami International Airport on Friday.

The agency did not identify the passenger or say whether they were arrested.

Photos taken at the airport provided by TSA show two slender pink snakes outside of a small camo-colored bag, after apparently being pulled from the passenger's pants before they were able to board a plane.

Snakes found in passenger's pants turned over to Florida wildlife officers

After the discovery, TSA said it called the Customs and Border Protection Southeast Region and Miami-Dade Police for assistance.

It was not immediately known if the snakes were the passengers pets or whether the person was simply trying to transport them out of the city.

The snakes, TSA reported, were turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Internet reacts to snakes in pants

When TSA posted the finding on X over the weekend, people on the internet had thoughts.

One user posted: "OMG why would anyone have that?!"

"Is that a snake in your pants?" another person asked.

Another X reader commented: "Maybe he wanted to film a remake of the movie 'Snakes on a Plane'!!!"

"Because the TSSSSSSSSSA fearsssssss competition," one person posted .

A passenger travelling from Miami International Airport in Florida was stopped by security after he was found with a bag of snakes hidden down his trousers.

Alarms alerted security guards to an “anomaly” on the man’s person and he was taken for a pat-down, where he admitted to concealing the reptiles , on Friday 26 April.

Pictures posted online by the Transportation Security Administration showed the two small, pink snakes that had been removed from a camouflage-coloured bag. Police and Customs and Border Patrol were called and the animals were safely turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The post spawned several risque jokes from social media users, as well as a string of references to the 2006 film Snakes On A Plane , starring Samuel L Jackson.

A TSA spokesman told The Independent that the passenger was attempting to take an international flight but had “basically admitted there were snakes in his pants” when the alarms had sounded.

Airport security uses Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) to detect irregularities.

“It showed that there was an anomaly in the groin area and it marks it for a pat-down. When the passenger came through they said that they needed to do a pat-down and that’s when he admitted that there were snakes in his pants,” the spokesperson told The Independent.

“At that point, they contacted law enforcement from there so I think that he knew that, you know, once the technology flagged him for a search that he was caught and he admitted to it.”

The man was subsequently forbidden to board his flight, the spokesperson said, adding that such incidents were not “commonplace”.

However, in January 2023, TSA agents in Tampa, Florida f ound a four-foot boa constrictor concealed in a passenger’s bag that they claimed was an “emotional support animal”.

At the time the agency shared a pun-laden post on Instagram which showed the “danger noodle” going through the airport’s X-ray machine.

“Our officers at Tampa International Airport didn’t find this hyssssssterical! Coiled up in a passenger’s carry-on was a 4’ boa constrictor! We really have no adder-ation for discovering any pet going through an x-ray machine,” TSA wrote.

It is understood that the boa constrictor was also turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The Independent has reached out to the agency for comment about the condition of the snakes discovered in Miami on Friday.

Man Tries to Board Flight with Snakes in His Pants at Miami Airport

The snakes were discovered by Transportation Security Administration officials on Friday, April 26

A plane flying out of Miami International Airport almost had a group of slithery travelers onboard.

Transportation Security Administration officials announced on X , formerly known as Twitter, that a bag of snakes was found hidden in a passenger's pants at a checkpoint on Friday, April 26.

The passenger, identified as a man by WBBH-TV , hid the snakes in a small green camo bag. TSA officials gave a glimpse of the bag through three different photos included in the post.

One of the photos showed two pink snakes crawling around the exterior of the bag with white packaging material around them.

According to the announcement, officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Miami-Dade Police Department were called to the scene, and the snakes were turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

WFTV reported that the passenger was attempting to go on an international flight, and was denied boarding after the snakes were found. PEOPLE has reached out to the Miami-Dade Police Department for comment.

The U.S. Department of Transportation explains on its website that "federal and state governments impose restrictions on transporting live animals. In addition, each airline establishes its own company policy for the proper handling of the animals they transport."

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advises pet owners to purchase flights with fewer connections or layovers, allowing a smoother travel experience.

"Pick departure and arrival times to avoid extreme heat or cold. For example, planning a nighttime arrival to a hot destination may be better for your pet," the CDC adds on its website .

In a previous conversation with PEOPLE, Dr. Sarah Nold, an on-staff veterinarian for  Trupanion , advised that the safest way to fly with pets is to be "prepared for any situation."

"Make sure your carrier is the proper size for your pet and durable. Call the airline to determine if your carrier/pet is approved for riding in the cabin or if they will have to go in cargo," continued Nold. "Keep in mind there may be maximum weight and minimum age requirements for traveling, these are usually enforced for the safety of your pet."

Bag of snakes found in passenger's pants at Miami International Airport

Snakes almost on a plane.

According to an X post by the TSA , officers at Miami International airport found a bag of snakes hidden in a passenger's pants while at a checkpoint late last month.

The post included photos of the snakes that were found in what appears to be an Oakley sunglass bag.

Before the discovery could leave anyone rattled, TSA officers alerted Southeast U.S. Customs and Border Protection as well as Miami-Dade police for assistance. The snakes were then handed off to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Currently, the relationship between the passenger and the snakes remains unclear.

MIAMI - A passenger got busted with snakes hidden in their pants while trying to board an airplane at Miami International Airport in April.

After discovering the reptiles, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials posted images on X, formerly Twitter, on April 30 that showed the snakes hidden in a bag.

The incident occurred on April 26 and the TSA noted that the snakes were handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. 

It’s unknown if the snakes were the passenger’s pets or if the individual was trying to move them out of the city.
