CORRIB SAFARI

If you are looking for an exciting and scenic way to explore Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland, you should check out Corrib Safari. Corrib Safari offers a range of boat trips on Lough Corrib, giving you several options to choose from. Whether you want a short and thrilling ride, a relaxing and informative tour, or a premium and immersive experience, Corrib Safari has something to suit you.

Corrib Safari operates a Rigid Inflatable Boat, or RIB for short, which can accommodate up to 12 passengers. The RIB is fast, safe and comfortable, and allows you to access some of the most beautiful and remote parts of the lake. You can enjoy the stunning scenery of the Connemara mountain ranges, the abundant wildlife, and the rich history of the lake and its islands.

One of the most popular trips offered by Corrib Safari is the Inchagoill Island Safari. This is a 2-hour experience that takes you on an exciting excursion to Inchagoill Island, one of the largest and most historic islands on Lough Corrib. Inchagoill Island is famous for having provided sanctuary to Saint Patrick and his nephew Lugnad, who remained on the island when Saint Patrick left. You can visit Lugnad’s grave, which is in the shape of a rudder, as he was said to be Saint Patrick’s navigator. You can also visit two ancient churches from the 5th and 12th centuries, a graveyard and an abandoned village.

Another option is the Corrib Safari, which is a 1-hour experience that takes you on a stunning sightseeing trip to a selection of scenic bays, idyllic harbours and wild islands. You can experience the varied wildlife and superb mountain views as you zip your way between islands and explore bays, harbours and wild places. This is a great way to get a taste of Lough Corrib and have some fun on the water.

If you are looking for something more exclusive and adventurous, you can opt for the Maam Valley Safari. This is a half-day (4 hours approximately) premium experience that takes you on a journey through the Maam Valley, one of the most scenic areas in Ireland. You can see an array of islands, bays and stunning mountain views as you cruise along the lake. You can also stop at some of the hidden gems of Lough Corrib, such as Castlekirk Island, where you can see the ruins of an old castle, or Maam Pier, where you can enjoy some refreshments at a local pub.

Corrib Safari also offers Private Charter options for those who want to customize their own trip. You can choose from many pick up and drop off points around Lough Corrib, and design an experience that suits your needs and interests. Whether you want to celebrate a special occasion, have a family outing, or just enjoy some quality time with your friends, Corrib Safari can make it happen.

Head over to the Corrib Safari website to book a tour and be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to see their latest updates, photos & videos. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover Lough Corrib in a unique and memorable way with Corrib Safari.

View of Lough Corrib from Inchagoill Island, County Galway

  • City breaks
  • Free things to do
  • Nature and wildlife
  • On the water
  • The great outdoors

The famous Lough Corrib, abundant with salmon and wild brown trout, is around 35 miles in length from Galway City to Maum, in County Galway. The salmon-fishing season opens on 1st February and the trout season on 15th February, and both end on 30th September.

There are numerous angling centres around the lake where visitors can find accommodation and hire boatmen, as well as obtaining all the necessary equipment. It is advisable for visitors who are new to the lake to use a guide due to its size and the numerous underwater hazards.

Access to the Upper Corrib is good, with numerous car parks, public quays and slipways. Amongst them are Derrymoyle, Oughterard Pier, Hackett's Pier, Birchall, Collinamuck, Knockferry, Rinnaknock, Greenfields, Derries, Golden Bay, Lisloughrey and Cornamona. Access to the Lower Corrib area is more limited and is easiest from Annaghdown Pier and the Streamers Quay in Galway.
