20 R&B and hip-hop concerts to attend in 2022

Live music is back in full swing! When the pandemic shut everything down in 2020, fans were deprived of seeing their favorite artists on stage, and artists had to get creative and find new ways to deliver virtual shows. But this year seems to be a turning point in the music industry—artists and promoters are back with tour announcements and fans have the chance to attend concerts in person again.

Over the past two years, fans and artists had to deal with show cancellations and postponements, but the future is looking a little brighter. A jam session through a listener's headphones is one thing, but the energy from a live performance is unmatched. Here is a list of R&B and hip-hop artists hitting the road this year.

Mary J. Blige

The queen of hip-hop soul a.k.a. Mary J. Blige has a career spanning three decades and she still’s going strong. Her recent album Good Morning Gorgeous marked her 14th album to date and featured collaborations with artists such as Dave East, Anderson .Paak, and Usher. To support the album, Blige is taking her talents across America alongside R&B newcomers Queen Naija and Ella Mai. For fans who enjoy hearing songs about life, love, and relationships, this is a must-see show.

It’s been six years since Usher released his last studio album Hard II Love, but as an artist with a discography that spans nearly three decades, he continues to be an in-demand artist for shows. In 2021, Usher had a residency in Las Vegas that became one of the city’s most talked-about events. Well, Usher is back for a second residency leg starting this July and going through October. Hopefully, this next stint also means fans will hear new music from him soon.

Alex Isley comes from a family lineage of music heroes—yes, she is the daughter of Ernie Isley of The Isley Brothers. However, she’s been carving her own lane in R&B for about a decade. Alex’s sweet and soothing voice makes her a standout in the R&B world. Once she released her latest album Marigold earlier this year, fans were curious if she would announce a tour soon. Well, the wait is over! Kicking off in August, fans can catch Alex on the Marigold Tour alongside LAYA, Gwen Bunn, and Zyah Belle.

Kendrick Lamar

After taking some time away from the spotlight for a few years, Kendrick Lamar put the world on notice with the release of his highly-anticipated album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The number one album brought a lot of discourse on social media, such as comparisons to his previous projects and thoughts of a tour set. Well, fans got their wish since Lamar is hitting the road this summer. His Los Angeles tour stop sold out so quickly, that organizers added three more LA dates. Since Lamar doesn’t tour very frequently, fans should score tickets to this show ASAP.

At the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, Kehlani showcased her visual creativity with her album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. Kehlani returned this year with her third studio album Blue Water Road and fans raved about her collaborations with artists such as Blxst, Jessie Reyez, Thundercat, and Justin Bieber . In support of the album, Kehlani is bringing Rico Nasty and Destin Conrad along for her tour, set to kick off in July.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak surprised fans when they joined forces as Silk Sonic and released their single “Leave the Door Open.” Once fans caught their performances at shows like the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards, they noticed how much Silk Sonic brings electric showmanship and creativity to each stage. Fans can catch the duo in Las Vegas for their residency, however, be prepared because phones aren’t allowed in the venue—a great way to allow fans to be present at the moment.

Nas and Wu-Tang Clan

For fans who prefer to celebrate hip-hop legends in the game, then attending the NY State of Mind Tour is the way to go. Wu-Tang Clan and Nas are teaming up on this one-in-a-lifetime type of show. While Nas continues to bring fans new music, like his recent work with producer Hit-Boy, Wu-Tang’s debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) was recently archived in the Library of Congress—proving how much they continue to bring to the hip-hop world. The NY State of Mind Tour is set to run between August and October.

Over the past two years, Giveon has emerged as one of the newest R&B crooners to watch. From collaborations alongside artists like Drake and Justin Bieber to a couple of Grammy nominations—the singer is sure to have a bright future ahead. With the recent release of his debut album Give Or Take, his tour will kick off on Aug. 16. Joining him on tour are emerging artists Fana Hues, Saleka, Jenevieve, and Rimon.

Post Malone

In early June, Post Malone released his fourth studio album Twelve Carat Toothache. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and featured collaborations with Roddy Ricch , Doja Cat, and The Weeknd. Malone is set to kick off his Twelve Carat Tour alongside Ricch this September.

To some fans, PJ Morton is a member of the pop band Maroon 5, and to others, he's known as an artist putting a lot of soul into his own discography. In April, the Grammy Award-winning singer released his album Watch The Sun which featured collaborations alongside Wale, JoJo, Stevie Wonder , and Nas. Morton's current tour is already underway and is set to go through November.

Jack Harlow

Over the past two years, it seems like the hip-hop world is catching on to Jack Harlow. From his breakthrough hit song “What’s Poppin,” to being named a recipient of XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class, to earning a Grammy nomination alongside Lil Nas X on their hit song “Industry Baby”—Harlow is on his way to becoming a household name. In support of his sophomore album Come Home the Kids Miss You, he’s hitting the road with rap duo City Girls starting in September.

Chris Brown

Just three years after releasing his previous album Indigo, Chris Brown is back with his tenth album  Breezy, just in time for the summer. The album’s lead single “WE (Warm Embrace) is reminiscent of ‘90s R&B, thanks to the sample of Guy’s 1991 hit song, “Let’s Chill.” Brown is set to join Lil Baby on the road for the One of Them Ones Tour kicking off in mid-July.

Ever since Lil Nas X had everyone singing about “Old Town Road” in 2019, his stardom has continued to rise. His debut song reached diamond-certified status, he won two Grammy Awards, and his debut album reached number two on the Billboard 200. As Lil Nas X gears up to the release of his sophomore project, he’ll be hitting the road on his Long Live Montero Tour that is set to start in September.

Jade Novah is a singer-songwriter who got recognized for her song covers on YouTube, while also singing backup and writing songs for other artists. To many fans, she's known for her viral video impersonations of artists like Toni Braxton and Beyoncé. Just two years after her previous album Stages, Novah returns with her latest single, "Lost In You." As fans anticipate a new album on the horizon, Novah is bringing the Moon in Pisces Tour across North America starting in August.

Wiz Khalifa and Logic

The first half of 2022 has been a year of collaborations for Wiz Khalifa. So far, he's released albums with Juicy J, as well as his latest project Full Court Press alongside Big K.R.I.T., Smoke DZA, and Girl Talk. Well, this summer he's teaming up with Logic on their joint Vinyl Verse Tour. Khalifa and Logic will kick off their 28-city tour on July 27th and they will be joined by 24kGoldn, DJ Drama, C Dot Castro, and Fedd the Good.

Over the past two years, Blxst has emerged as an artist putting his stamp on the Los Angeles sound. With a style inspired by the likes of Ty Dolla $ign and the late Nate Dogg, Blxst is becoming an in-demand collaborator on hooks for other artists. With the release of his latest album Before You Go and recent performances at festivals like Dreamville and Something In The Water, Blxst is heading out on his own tour with Audrey Nuna and Buddy starting in July. The Before You Go Tour is set to take place in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and more.

Joey Bada$$

It was back in 2017 when Joey Bada$$ released his last album, and he took the next few years to focus more on his acting. Well, Joey is returning back to the music scene with his highly-anticipated album  2000. To celebrate the new release, as well as the 10th anniversary of his 1999 album, Joey is set to hit the road in July for his 1999-2000 Tour.

Leon Bridges

After earning rave reviews with his 2021 album Gold-Diggers Sound,  soulful singer Leon Bridges teamed up with eclectic trio Khruangbin on their joint EP Texas Moon. Following the releases, Bridges is heading out on The Boundless Tour alongside Swedish electronic band Little Dragon. While Bridges and Little Dragon may have differing fan bases, the tour is sure to be an intriguing show for fans who love soul, R&B, and dance music. The 23-stop tour is set to kick off in July.

Kenyon Dixon

Kenyon Dixon may not be a household name just yet, but he is certainly not new to the R&B game. In addition to releasing his own music, Dixon has penned songs for artists like Mary J. Blige and Justin Timberlake and sang background for Usher and John Legend. Earlier this year, he received a Grammy nomination, released his latest album Closer, and actively uses social media to advocate for the R&B world. Dixon is set to embark on his Closer Tour this July.

Lil Durk garnered a following since he started releasing mixtapes back in 2013. However, it seems like the past two years have pushed Durk to more commercial success, thanks to his hit single "Viral Moment," as well as collaborations alongside Lil Baby, Pooh Sheisty, and Drake. Earlier this year, Durk released his seventh studio album 7220, and went on tour during the spring. However, if fans missed out, they can catch him on the second leg of The 7220 Deluxe Tour kicking off in September.

Speaking about the LP, which includes the previous single  The One , Brian said: “Keith and I grew up in the 80s and 90s, the sound of that era is what made us want to be musicians in the first place.

“When we first started talking about making this record as Boyzlife’s first studio album, we naturally talked about those influences a lot and have loved bringing these familiar sounds into our studio sessions and onto this record.

“Working with our producer Jackson has been an extremely creative process, we went into the studio with lyrics ideas, worked together to find a melodic sound to go with the lyrics and built the songs from there.

“Some things just fit into place and others get chopped and changed until we all agree we are on the right track. We are very excited about this album and can’t wait for people to hear it.”

‘Old School’ is  available to pre-order on standard and deluxe CD .

Bruce Springsteen Promising 2023 Trek To Be An ‘Old School Tour’

Bruce Springsteen Promising 2023 Trek To Be An 'Old School Tour'

PRPhotos.com

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will be making up for last time with what will amount to a massive 2023 global trek. “The Boss” appeared on Sirius XM and mapped out how the tour will play out, explaining the band will rehearse in January — tour North America from February to April, hit Europe for an extended stadium run, return to our side of the pond for a string of stadium shows, then head Down Under — before coming “back around again” to the States.

When reminded that the E Street Band has been sidelined since 2017, Springsteen admitted he was still coming to terms with the layoff: “It's kind of mind-boggling to be honest with you. I mean, it doesn't feel that long — we stayed busy over that time, but still, I've got the jones to play live very badly at this point, so I'm deeply looking forward to getting out there in front of our fans. Y'know, I'm just aching to play, y'know? And actually, not just play, but to travel and see our fans in all our different cities and feel that life again and see their faces again. And we've got an old school tour planned where we'll be out there for quite a while and give everybody a chance to see us.”

So far, on the E Street Band's European dates have been rolled out. There's been no word when the North American shows will be announced.

Want to show teachers appreciation? This top school gives them more freedom

A top Florida public school attributes its students’ high test scores to the creativity its teachers are allowed in the classroom

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- When teachers at A.D. Henderson School, one of the top-performing schools in Florida, are asked how they succeed, one answer is universal: They have autonomy.

Nationally, most teachers report feeling stressed and overwhelmed at work, according to a Pew Research Center survey of teachers last fall. Waning job satisfaction over the last two decades has accompanied a decline in teachers’ sense of autonomy in the classroom, according to a recent study out of Brown University and the University of Albany.

But at this South Florida school, administrators allow their staff high levels of classroom creativity — and it works.

A public school of 636 kindergartners to eighth graders on the campus of Florida Atlantic University, Henderson scored in the top 1% to 3% in every subject and grade level on the state’s latest standardized tests, with the exception of sixth grade math, where students scored in the top 7%. In almost every subject, 60% or more of Henderson students score significantly above the state average.

“There is a lot of our own individual input allowed in doing the activities that we want to do in the classroom,” said Vanessa Stevenson, a middle school science teacher finishing her third year at the school. She plans to start an equine medicine class next fall even though the school has no stables — she believes she will find a way.

“It’s a bit of trial and error because there’s nothing being handed to you saying, ‘Do it this way.’ You just have to figure it out,” she said.

Joel Herbst, superintendent of Henderson and its sibling FAU High School, calls the faculty his “secret sauce” and argues the school’s success can be duplicated anywhere — if administrators cede some control.

When that happens, he said, teachers create hands-on programs that help students “not only show their understanding, but gain more depth.”

“Give (teachers) the freedom to do what they do best, which is to impart knowledge, to teach beyond the textbook,” he said.

Portland State University education professor Madhu Narayanan, who studies teacher autonomy, said independence has a high correlation to faculty morale and success. But autonomy must be paired with administrative support.

“It can’t be, ‘Here is the classroom, here is the textbook, we’ll see you in six months.’ Those teachers have tremendous autonomy, but feel lost,” he said.

Henderson emphasizes science, technology and math, using arts and humanities to help with those lessons. About 2,700 families enter a lottery each year for the 60 spots in Henderson’s kindergarten class and openings in other grades. There is no screening — some children entering Henderson are prodigies, most are average learners and some have learning disabilities like dyslexia.

The only tweaking is to comply with a Florida law requiring the student population at university-run “laboratory” schools match state demographics for race, gender and income. Because families apply to attend, parental involvement is high — an advantage Herbst and his staff concede.

Selected kindergartners are tested months before arrival so any needs can be immediately addressed.

“Some of them come in reading and some know five letters — and it is not just reading, but all subjects,” said Lauren Robinson, the elementary program’s vice principal. “We are going to provide every opportunity to close those gaps before those gaps grow and grow, instead of waiting until a certain grade level and saying, ‘Now we’ll try to close them.’ It’s Day One.”

In Jenny O’Sullivan’s art and technology classroom, kindergartners learn computer coding basics by steering a robot through a maze. Fourth and fifth graders make videos celebrating Earth Day. Students learn design by building cardboard arcade games like Skee-Ball for their classmates. Legos teach engineering.

While her new classroom has the latest technology, she insists such classes can be taught anywhere if the teacher is allowed creativity.

“My grandmother is from Louisiana and there’s a (Cajun) saying: ‘Lagniappe,’ that little something extra,” O’Sullivan said. “I get to be the lagniappe in (the student’s) education. Could you do without it? Yes. But would you want to? No.”

Working in small groups while dressed in white lab coats and goggles, the sixth graders in Amy Miramontes’ Medical Detectives class solve a mystery daily. They have examined strands of rabbit muscle under a microscope, using safe chemicals to determine what neurological disease each animal had. They have tested fake neurotoxins to determine which ailments afflicted their imaginary patients.

Miramontes hopes the class not only piques the students’ interest in medicine, but implants knowledge needed in two years when they take the state’s eighth-grade science test.

“They’re always learning by having their hands on something,” Miramontes said. “If they mess up, it’s OK — we start over. But then we learn a great life lesson that we have to be very diligent.”

Marisha Valbrun, 12, took Medical Detectives because she might want to be a doctor. She’s learned that while science is challenging, by seeking assistance she can overcome obstacles.

“I feel like if I just ask any person in this room for help, they can give you that right answer,” she said.

Even at a school where teachers exude enthusiasm, elementary art teacher Lindsey Wuest stands out — she can’t stand still while describing how her lessons center on science.

On this afternoon in her Science as Art class, Wuest and a visiting artist are showing third graders how to make clay bobblehead dolls of endangered species — while also teaching the chemistry of why glazes change color in the kiln.

“Hopefully those students who love art can also develop a love of science,” she said. “Project-based learning sticks with the kids for longer.”

Third grader Maximus Mallow said that by working on his leopard bobblehead, he learned how the animal’s camouflage works.

“We have fun while we create stuff about science,” the 9-year-old said.

Henderson’s success leads to grants — and nowhere shows that better than the middle school’s drone program, which recently won a national competition in San Diego.

Henderson’s drone teams have a room to practice flying the 3-inch-by-3-inch (75 millimeter), four-rotor devices through an obstacle course, plus flight simulators donated by the local power company.

The drone program is a chance to compete while using the physics and aeronautics learned in the classroom, teacher James Nance said. While expensive equipment is a benefit, Nance said, drone classes can be taught on a shoestring. At a previous school, he made a flying course out of PVC pipe and balloons.

Eighth grader Anik Sahai pulls out his cell phone in Stevenson’s science classroom, an act at Henderson that usually means a trip to the office. But he is demonstrating an app he created that uses the camera to diagnose diabetic retinopathy, an eye disease that is a leading cause of blindness worldwide. It took first place in the state’s middle school science fair and is being considered for commercial use.

The 14-year-old credits his success to his years at Henderson, beginning in the preschool program.

“The teachers here, they’re amazing,” he said. “They’ve been trained on how to get us to the next level.”

England's kris kim, 16, set to make pga tour debut, following in footsteps of his lpga mom, share this article.

High-level golf runs in the family for 16-year-old Kris Kim, who will make his PGA Tour debut this week at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. Kim’s mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, played on the LPGA in 1998 and 1999, at the same time superstar Se Ri Pak burst onto the global stage.

Kim, who hails from Surrey, England, brings quite the resume to Texas. His 2023 triumphs include the R&A Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys Individual Championship and the McGregor Trophy.

He also went undefeated at the Junior Ryder Cup, defeating another up-and-coming star, Miles Russell, 5 and 4, in singles. The 15-year-old Russell, of course, tied for 20th recently on the Korn Ferry Tour .

“I can’t wait to play in front of big crowds again. I’ve never hit the ball as far as I did at the Ryder Cup,” Kim said in a release. “The adrenaline rush makes golf so much fun. That said, having played that course, and a few more Tour courses, I appreciate the task ahead and look forward to the challenge.”

Kim, who is playing in McKinney on a sponsor exemption, became the first amateur sponsored by CJ Group last May. Managed by Trinifold Sports, Kim also became the first European amateur to sign an NIL deal with Under Armour and the first British amateur to sign with TaylorMade.

Suh, who briefly returned to competition in Europe in 2014 after a 12-year break, told tour officials that she took up golf at age 13 in Seoul after her father forced her to quit tennis.

“My father would take me at five in the morning and I would hit balls all day and my hands would hurt,” she said. “I didn’t like it very much, but my father did. So I continued practicing from the age of 13 and I became very good. Then, I joined the Korean National team, turned professional in 1998 and afterwards I decided to try and play in America.”

Suh recorded two T-15 finishes in 1998 on the LPGA at the Friendly’s Classic and Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.

Her stint in America fell short, she said, because her English wasn’t very good and it was difficult to travel on her own. With no sponsors in the U.S., she ultimately left for the Japan LPGA, where she played for one year until she met her husband and stopped altogether.

That was in 2002. The couple moved to Surrey and Suh took up a teaching career at a local golf course.

While Suh’s path into the game was laid out by her father, Cuddington Golf Club director Paul Schunter told BBC Sport that Kim’s passionate pursuit is self-motivated.

“I’ve never known a more dedicated youngster,” said Schunter, who watched Kim’s game develop as a youngster at Cuddington.

“And he could not have asked for better parents. They have been so encouraging. All the pushing has come from Kris because he has always wanted to play and practice more and more.”

Kim doesn’t have to look far to learn more about how to handle the next step of his career.

“I’ll definitely ask my mum for advice,” he said. “It is going to be a very different environment and you don’t know how you will respond to it. She’ll help me deal with it. She’s my coach and we talk about everything from dealing with nerves, taking one shot at a time, leaving bad shots behind and keeping it simple right through to course strategy.

“My first aim is to make the cut and then see what happens. At the end of the day I’m one of 144 competitors and we’ve all got a chance. Whatever happens, it’s going to be super helpful for my future because I’ll gain so much experience. I know I’m still young and pretty much every week I learn a lesson, but this week is going to be a lot bigger.”

Teens miss prom over lack of tickets after venue changed to smaller one last minute: ‘school has just stopped responding’.

A group of Virginia high schoolers couldn’t attend their prom when a change in venues limited the number of tickets sold to the annual event.

Tickets for Midlothian High School’s prom were sold out within days of being available after the school officials advertised a week-long sale to its students for the yearly tradition, according to WTVR.

Students and parents at the Chesterfield County school were dumbfounded because they were never told the tickets would be limited.

Others were confused after they assumed the senior dues they paid in the fall included entry to the dance.

“All seniors and their dates should get a prom ticket,” one parent said, the outlet reported. “Absolute failure to these seniors.”

Some Virginia high schoolers missed their prom after the school changed the dance to a smaller venue with limited capacity.

Another mother wrote that her son was left without a date after his longtime girlfriend wasn’t “allocated a ticket.”

“Many seniors are WITHOUT tickets for their OWN PROM,” the frustrated parent wrote. “There is so much chaos surrounding this subject that the school has just stopped responding about it. I’m so sad for them.”

The prom, opened to both juniors and seniors, was held May 4 at the Hippodrome Theater in Richmond, VA. approximately 16 miles northeast of the high school.

“My concern is why would they decide to book a venue that could not accommodate every student and their date that wanted to attend?” one parent asked.

Some parents were confused after they assumed the senior dues they paid in the fall included entry to the dance.

The change to the Richmond venue came early in the school year when students requested a different locale from the traditional Chesterfield Career and Technical Center, a post-secondary prep institute within the public school district.

“The reason for our location change is that students wanted prom at a different venue and very few venues can accommodate much larger than 700 without 18 months notice,” principal Dr. Shawn Abel said, according to WTVR. “We selected the Hippodrome based on very positive feedback from Deep Run HS, who has hosted their prom there the past two years. Deep Run is the same size school as Midlo.”

School officials claim only 10 students and 15 guests couldn’t purchase tickets.

“I was looking forward to it and I thought since there is only two grades everyone would get to go,” Midlothian junior Holden White told the outlet.

The administration also stressed it had notified families at the beginning of the year of the smaller capacity the new venue had compared to previous years, and couldn’t sell more tickets because of fire capacity at the venue.

Seniors had been offered an earlier sale in March while juniors were left to only the general sale last week.

“I feel sorry for families who worked hard to give kids a prom to remember and now can’t due to this,” one parent told the outlet.

Midlothian junior Holden White said he was looking forward to the dance and thought there would be enough room for all juniors and seniors to attend.

A waitlist was created for any student that missed out on purchasing a ticket, but the school couldn’t promise admittance to the dance.

“I’m sorry they did not receive their prom ticket, but I wanted you to fully understand the circumstances,” Abel’s letter to the parents concluded.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
