Robbie Williams to headline outdoor concert at King’s Sandringham estate

Organisers said the singer-songwriter will be joined on stage by a number of special guests.

Robbie Williams is set to headline the first large-scale live music event at the royal estate of Sandringham next summer, it has been confirmed.

The pop megastar, 48, will be joined at the concert on August 26 by a number of “special guests” who have yet to be announced, organisers said.

Giles Cooper, from Heritage Live, said: “It’s been an ambition of us all at Heritage Live to stage a concert for the legendary Robbie Williams and the thing about Robbie is that he keeps getting better and better.

Robbie Williams

“His 2022 Arena tour show was the best I’d ever seen him perform and for me he’s the best entertainer since Elvis.

“It will be the most magical concert in the most amazing surroundings that’ll live in our memories for ever.”

The outdoor concert comes after Williams’ eight-stop arena tour in October, following the release of his number one compilation album XXV, which includes the newest version of his 1997 hit ballad Angels.

The album marks the 25-year milestone in Williams’ glittering career as one of the world’s most decorated artists, with 14 UK number one albums, having left boyband Take That to pursue a solo career in 1995.

With Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange, Take That were hailed as Britain’s biggest boyband in the 1990s, evoking hysteria reminiscent of The Beatles.

Sandringham

While the royal estate has played host to a number of events, including the mile-long Luminate Sandringham outdoor trail this Christmas, the concert will be the first time it has held a live-music event of this scale, organisers said.

The King will spend Christmas Day at Sandringham this year, marking a return to the traditional royal family Christmas on the Norfolk estate where the Queen hosted her family over the festive period.

The King and the Queen Consort are expected to be joined by their wider family as they mark their first Christmas since the Queen’s death.

Pre-sale tickets will be available from 9am on Thursday December 8 and general on-sale tickets will be available from 9am on Friday December 9 at www.axs.com/heritagelive .

Robbie Williams to exhibit his paintings for first time

Exclusive: Williams’s work with Ed Godrich will be shown alongside sale of works by artists including Basquiat

He’s better known for stepping out on stage and providing some of the most memorable British pop moments in recent memory, but now Robbie Williams is swapping the microphone and the spotlight for an easel as he presents his first ever exhibition.

Williams and his creative partner, Ed Godrich, are presenting an exhibition of their black-and-white paintings and curating a sale at Sotheby’s that will feature some of their favourite artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Grayson Perry and Damien Hirst.

The pair’s love of street art, which created their bond and inspired their paintings, is the thread that runs through their exhibition and the sale.

Godrich and Williams’s Black and White Paintings exhibition will be on show at Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries from 13-25 May, while their Contemporary Curated sale runs from 22-28 April and includes works by graffiti writer turned art world star Basquiat, and street artist Richard Hambleton.

The pair describe the Canadian-born New York-based Hambleton – who uses brushes and black paint in pots to create “ immense human shadows ” – as “the daddy” of them all and a huge influence on their work. “He was at the forefront of a revolution that has continued to this day. To own a Richard Hambleton, acknowledges your deep understanding of street art,” they said.

Robbie Williams and Ed Godirch, Beverly, est. £15,000-20,000

Williams and Godrich, who co-founded the interior architecture studio Godrich Interiors, said they went into “a meditative trance-like state” when they created their own work, and that it was not uncommon for them to forget painting certain parts of the canvas.

“There are references to so many things buried in the layers of each work, some private, some not. On closer inspection each viewer will perceive the content in a totally different way,” they said.

In total, 14 of the duo’s works will be on display at the exhibition, with Williams and Godrich creating the paintings while listening to music (often Annie Mac’s DJ sets ) in their Los Angeles studio that they share.

Other work in their curated sale includes the spot painting, 2- Hydroxypyridine by Damien Hirst, whom they describe as “a mischievous scamp”, and Grayson Perry’s self-portrait ceramics piece Him and Her. “The intriguing thing about this piece is it covers so many areas of Grayson’s creativity. We all need a ceramic of Grayson and a pink creature in our lives,” they said. “Without Grayson, it all feels a fraction normal.”

Williams, an early investor in Banksy, has dabbled in the art market before. In January he put up three works by Banksy from his private collection for a combined estimate of £10m . At the time he said the aim of selling Girl with Balloon, Vandalised Oils (Choppers) and Kissing Coppers was to free up space to be able to buy “new art from new people” and help fund his own work.

Richard Hambleton, Shadowman

The former Take That singer first told fans about his love for art in 2011 . In a blog post on his official website, he said that he was inspired by Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol and had taken up the practice during the group’s down time.

Williams reportedly created 40 large works during the Covid-19 lockdowns, and recently sold greetings card-sized artworks to help promote his new gallery, which doubles as a nightclub that he described as “ the opposite of Studio 54, which was exclusive and pretentious ”.

Godrich and Williams said: “We are proud of what we have created and it is time to share what has been coming out of our brains for the last few years. Doing an exhibition gives the work a chance to breathe outside of the studio.”

Jazz Sabbath

Jazz Sabbath are a British Black Sabbath covers band with a fictional back-story claiming that they are a 1960s jazz trio and are the original writers of Black Sabbath songs, with Ozzy Osbourne's Black Sabbath later plagiarising them. They play jazz renditions of the Black Sabbath catalogue, with the band fronted by Milton Keanes (Adam Wakeman).

The band released their debut eponymous album in 2020, featuring the songs: "Fairies Wear Boots", "Evil Woman", "Rat Salad", and "Iron Man", among others.

Follow-up album, "Jazz Sabbath Vol. 2" was released in 2022, featuring versions of: "Paranoid", "Snowblind", "Behind the Wall of Sleep", and more.

Robbie Williams Surprises Taylor Swift Fans By Joining Her On Stage For 'Angels' Rendition

Ash Percival

Entertainment Editor, HuffPost UK

Taylor Swift fans got a surprise from Robbie Williams at her gig on Saturday night.

The singer joined Taylor on stage for rendition of his hit ‘Angels’, as she played her latest show at Wembley Stadium.

Fans were blown away by the performance, which was hailed as a real “moment” on social media.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever screamed so loud as when Robbie Williams came up from the stage to sing Angels with Taylor Swift that was the most insane moment of my life — charlotte cunningham 🦋 (@whenshewaschar) June 23, 2018

Honestly of all the people to show up at Taylor Swift’s concert, I was not expecting Robbie Williams. But what a moment when you get an unexpected stadium singalong to Angels. 🙌🏻🐍❤️ — Amy (@AJgeorge) June 23, 2018

Wow. Seriously. @taylorswift13 what a show. Getaway Car was voted our family favourite moment; but Angels with Robbie was some singalong surprise! pic.twitter.com/jPNfqxmO2r — stewart vandermark (@TheStewartV) June 23, 2018

However, it is not the first time she has brought on a surprise guest during her ‘Reputation’ tour.

On Friday, former One Directioner Niall Horan came out to duet on his single ‘Slow Hands’ with her.

The pair duetted on Robbie's hit 'Angels'

Taylor’s tour has made a number of headlines since it kicked off at the start of May, initally surrounding the huge snake statues the set features, in reference to her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

More recently, she was hit by reports of poor ticket sales for her UK stadium shows, which has been blamed on high ticket prices.

Meanwhile, Robbie is said to be gearing up for a judging role on ‘The X Factor’.

It has been rumoured he and wife Ayda Field will be joining the panel for the show’s 15th series later this year, replacing the departing Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.

Robbie is rumoured to be joining 'The X Factor' with wife Ayda Field

While nothing has yet been confirmed, Robbie remained coy about the claims during an appearance on ‘This Morning’ last week.

He said: “If there is an ‘X Factor’ in my future, whether it be this year or next year or never, I’m scared for my own safety and health but not because of the people out there, the public, Twitter or Instagram, my wife. She is an A+ student from Beverly Hills, incredibly square, she is like ‘why would you do that?’

“She is supposed to be doing it with me. I have read those reports too. I would say…as it happens people say that every year and we say ‘no comment’. Yeah, there is a lot of me that would love to do it too. But as it happens, people are talking nothing has been signed. But watch this space.”

Red Pitch , the smash-hit sold-out story of brotherhood, returns to the Bush Theatre for three weeks only.

Experience the full-throttle power of one of the hit productions of our anniversary year performed by the original cast. Kedar Williams-Stirling, Emeka Sesay and Francis Lovehall play three football-obsessed teens in director Daniel Bailey’s “energetic, artfully staged production” (Evening Standard).

‘The way they’re changing endz is nuts.’

Red Pitch. South London. Three lifelong friends Omz, Bilal and Joey are playing football. Like they always have. Living out dreams of football stardom. Beyond their football pitch, local shops are closing, old flats are being demolished as new flats shoot up, some residents struggle to stay while others rush to leave.

When a small football pitch has been a home from home, a place you’ve laughed, fought and forged friendships, what happens when it’s under threat?

The fast-paced and sharp-edged play by Tyrell Williams tells a powerful story of gentrification versus regeneration and the impact of this relentless change on London’s communities.
