The wines of Serrania de Ronda are unique due to the high altitude the grapes grow up to 900 meters of altitude. This results in fruity and spicy wines full of attitude!

The romantic travellers of the 18th and 19th centuries “discovered” Ronda, and it inspired many writers including Hemingway, Orson Welles and the German poet Rilke.
Old and New Towns are separated by a dramatic natural gorge which is spanned by the majestic Puente Nuevo or New Bridge – an icon of Andalucia.
To compliment your visit to the historical quarter, you will enjoy a wine-tasting in one of Ronda´s boutique wineries. Ronda just for itself deserves a trip if it’s only to stroll through the cobbled streets of the former moorish downtown area or to take breathtaking views of the imposing Tajo, whos bridge rises right between the old and the new town in a canyon which is more that 100 metres high.
Ronda is one of those Andalusian whitewashed towns taking you back to time, with its folkloristic fiestas, the bullfights, the history of the bandoleros or the terrific views and landscapes which inspired some of the most beloved scripts written by famous artists such as Orson Wells or Ernest Hemingway.
Ronda’s original Roman name was Acinipo, the village of wine. Latins, arabs and the Catholic Kings afterwards, always enjoyed the quality of the wines produced in the area, exporting them all around the Mediterranean.
The arrival of the filoxera bug exterminated the local vines until a new Renaissance of the wine production which took place at the beginning of the 90’s thanks to the vision of the Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe aided by famed wine maker Juan Manuel Vetas from Bordeaux. This team planted new international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and mostly Petit Verdot, whose 100% single varietal wines are the most celebrated of the entire region.
Other wine makers like Frederich Schatz or Kieninger planted a wide range of varieties as well, like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Lemberger etc. Nowadays we count more than 20 wine cellars in the area of Ronda, with mostly boutique wineries with a limited production of premium wines.
The altitude, the terroir and the climate of the area have been the keys to use modern either modern ecological viticulture tecniques or biodynamic philosphy which make the Ronda wines an absolute wonder among wine lovers and sommeliers.
Our goal is to offer a full vision of the different wine styles produced among the finest wine cellars, tasting wines from the perspective of a French Chateaux and wines elaborated following ancentral symbolism and organic agriculture.
Indeed, according to your time at disposal, after the wine tasting our client can stay the time they like in Ronda to enjoy the delicious local gastronomy with the charming atmosphere of a pueblo blanco.
An optional lunch in a Bodega is available upon request.
Please let us know your dietary/food requirements upon booking. Children underage (18 years old) are welcome on Ronda Wine tour.
You can book Rona Wine tour as late as 1 week prior to departure, via email or whatsapp. Cancellation is free between 7 and 3 days before departure. Any cancellation after day 3 before departure will be charged 100% of the total cost of the Ronda Wine Tour.

Ronda, visit a land of wines
Our geographical setting is unique. Surrounded by holm oak, gall oak and cork oak forests, surrounded by the natural areas of Grazalema and Sierra de las Nieves, Biosphere Reserve, as well as Los Alcornocales.
It also has a privileged Mediterranean climate and is influenced by the Atlantic, with temperatures that can reach a difference of 20 degrees between day and night. The soil is loamy and clayey, with limestone in the lower horizons, which helps to retain the humidity of the soil. This makes it possible to obtain unique wines. According to the experts, both white and red wines from Ronda are monumental, patient, calm, generally fruity on the nose, whose aromas are attenuated in the aged wines, gaining complexity and acquiring aromas typical of the ageing process. In the mouth they are wines with volume, with good persistence and more unctuous and concentrated in those subjected to ageing.
Ronda was already a land of wines since ancient times. This is demonstrated by the nearby Roman ruins of Acinipo, where remains of wine presses and coins minted with a bunch of grapes have been found.
Wine tourism in the wineries of Doña Felisa
In our cellars you will find reds, whites, rosés and even a sparkling wine, the only one in the region, a brut nature made possible thanks to our Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. We have 6 vineyards, located at an average altitude of 850 metres above sea level and with different grape varieties, which gives each of our wines a unique character!
We do not treat our vines with herbicides or other chemical synthesis products and we carry out the pruning, harvesting and all the work in the vineyard by hand, controlling the whole vegetative cycle of the plant. We harvest at night to prevent the grapes from suffering the high temperatures of our area. We also carry out an exhaustive selection of the bunches in order to take only the best to the winery. We transport the grapes in boxes of no more than 15 kg, to avoid damage to the grapes or possible spontaneous fermentation.
Thanks to our long family tradition, we can offer you a variety of routes and explain or show you any detail of the winemaking process. And, of course, at the end of our visits, we will do a tasting of different wines of ours. If you prefer, you can even book just the tasting.
Now that you know some details of our vineyards, do you fancy a visit to our winery in Ronda? We would be delighted to toast with us!

Wine tasting tours and visiting a winery in Ronda.
Over the last few years the wineries (“bodegas” in Spanish) of Ronda have greatly increased their production and are going through what can only be described as a “boom time”. There are over 20 excellent vineyards producing Red, Rosé and white wines with the denomination of origin “Wines of Malaga” (Malaga being the province that Ronda belongs to.) Many of the wineries are open to the public for wine tasting tours and some even provide full lunches and dinners with matched wines to the food courses.

Ronda wine tour
Our group had an excellent experience guided by Lana through vineyards and the town of Ronda. Everyone was amazed and Lana was full of great information!
Wine Tour of Ronda and Gibraltar Tour
I booked the wine tour of Rhonda and the Gibraltar tour for a group of 6. I highly recommend both tours. Our contact person in Marbella in Style was Lana. She was exceptional. She was very prompt in her communications with us and went to a great extent to accommodate our needs and schedule the tours to maximize our enjoyment of them. She was our tour guide for the Ronda tour and was professional, informative, and a lot of fun to be with. The tour began with a traditional Spanish breakfast that was delicious. The morning wine tour was very informative. The tour of Ronda was interesting and fun. The afternoon wine tour included a meal that was one of the best meals we had in Spain. The couple that ran the vineyard was charming. We bought several bottles of wine at both vineyards that we visited. Lana was not our tour guide in Gibraltar; she scheduled a tour with a local guide who was professional, experienced, and very informative. We chose the tour option with the driver and were glad that we did not have to bother with the drive from our hotel to Gibraltar and parking. The tour itself is fascinating. A first visit to Gibraltar definitely requires a guide to get the most from the visit.
Wine Tour of Ronda
HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marbella in-style! We traveled to Marbella with friends and booked this tour prior to arrival. Lana was our fabulous guide & Leo was our driver in a private, comfortable bus – they were phenomenal!! Lana was very engaged with us and we became fast friends. She had much to share and was a terrific host. Lunch was amazing! So much food & the hosts where very kind. This trip was worth every penny & would use them again on future travels. If I could give more than 5 stars for this company, I would! Thank you for a lovely day.

We were 12 persons on a private tour to two wineries and lunch in Ronda. Our guides were great and the arrangements at the wineries were perfect. Highly recommended!
Our tour guide Thomas was fantastic during our excursion. He even took us to an extra location! I would gladly recommend taking a trip with costa excursions and find it hard to envision anyone having a bad experience using their service.
Without a doubt, this is the best tour I have ever been on. Our guide, Thomas, was so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We had the best day with him. We took a private tour of the winery, Bodega F Schatz, which included tastings of 6 organic wines + tapas. Thomas was so sweet and even carried the wine we purchased back to our van.
After the wine tour, he took us on the true “locals” tour of Ronda. He walked with us around the town, showing us the different bridges and telling us all about the history of the town. We also stopped at other scenic viewpoints, the bullring and for café at a hotel rooftop that overlooked the bullring. Afterward, he took us for Tapas at El Lechuguita, which Thomas told us is where all of the locals go. He went above and beyond to help us pick tapas that we never would have picked on our own and everything was DELICIOUS!
On the way back, he took a slightly different route down to the coast (with our permission) and showed us the Rock of Gibraltar from the distance at a beautiful overlook. It was incredible.
My friend and I honestly had the best day ever and will definitely book with Thomas again the next time we are in Malaga.

Variety is the spice of his comic life
Paul f. tompkins is bringing his stage variety show ‘varietopia’ to city winery..
Stand-up comedian Paul F. Tompkins wears many hats. In addition to his day job, he hosts a podcast, performs sketch and improv, and does voice-over acting. As a lover of old-fashioned style, he also wears many actual hats — and cravats, three-piece suits, boutonnières, and the occasional cape. This love of classic showbiz trappings makes him a perfect fit for his other gig: variety show host.
“Varietopia” is a recurring stage variety show that Tompkins curates, stages, and hosts in Los Angeles. He just embarked on his first-ever “Varietopia” tour, which will stop at City Winery for two shows on May 2. (The full lineup is, by design, a secret.)
“Varietopia” began in 2002, when Tompkins was a mainstay at the Largo nightclub in Los Angeles. Owner Mark Flanagan booked guests whose specialties included spoken-word poetry, music, and stand-up comedy (its scene fostered musicians Aimee Mann and Fiona Apple, stand-up Patton Oswalt, and comedy band Tenacious D, among many others). This format inspired Tompkins to bring that same kind of grab-bag energy to a show of his own, which he periodically staged over the ensuing years.
“I wanted to host a show, and I didn’t want it to be just a parade of stand-ups, because there’s plenty of that already,” said Tompkins over the phone from LA. “There’s nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to do something where I could do all the different things that I like to do. I like to do stand-up, I like to do sketch, I like to host, I like to participate in music. So that was the impetus. It really reawakened in me the love of variety shows I had when I was a kid, when they used to be a much more common thing. The format itself isn’t dated, just to have different things in one show.”

After several years at Largo, Tompkins moved the show to the Lodge Room, a concert venue whose bigger space allowed him to expand from singer-songwriters to a house band with a full horn section. There is no “typical” “Varietopia” show, but past acts have included magicians, book readings, and character monologues. Last year’s St. Patrick’s Day show included Tompkins, in character as Monsignor Damien Fearnley, singing “Jesus’ Day Out,” an Irish-tinged song about how Jesus sometimes gets bored and pops back on to Earth.
Given the show’s longevity, it may seem surprising that Tompkins has never toured with the show. He said that this was largely because of its many logistical challenges, and credited musical director Jordan Katz with ironing those out.
“Music requires so much more all around, in terms of travel and lodging, tech, that it was very daunting for me,” said Tompkins. “I had [touring] in the back of my mind but I didn’t know how to do it. [Katz] has been the person putting all of the logistics together. That stuff is beyond me. He’s been terrific at putting that stuff together.”
Katz, reached via email, said the feeling is mutual.
“Paul is a comedy legend! And a great human!” he wrote. “I’m thrilled everyday to collaborate with him on this show. He’s so gifted in so many mediums. This show feels like a musical convergence of all that talent. It’s an extremely unique live experience, and such a fun time. I’m extremely lucky to help bring this show to life.”
That “comedy legend” business is no exaggeration — Tompkins has had a multi-faceted career that has spanned four decades. He still regularly performs his blustery, faux-exasperated brand of stand-up — his take on peanut brittle is a regular crowd request — and you’ve likely heard his voice on one animated show or another. (His recurring role as Mr. Peanutbutter on Netflix’s “Bojack Horseman” earned him a mention in a “Jeopardy!” clue this month.) He frequently appears as a variety of characters on the cult-classic podcast “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” and he hosts his own informally chatty podcast, “Stay F. Homekins,” with his wife, the actor Janie Haddad Tompkins.
Tompkins said that this seemingly disparate work is all part of the same skill set. “I think that every creative thing that I engage with informs the other, because it’s all extensions of me and my creativity,” he said.
