To much scams…please READ!

So whenever I use this app/ Safari it get these trackers and scammers to get my location and this is making me nervous. I installed ad blocker I think it’s called and I blocked some trackers which made me feel better. Every time you search something you usually get a scam or tracker. I do not like when people track me down. I rarely use this app because of the scams and risks. I think it is an OK app in general because it’s the people making these small BAD websites. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it could use work but it is pretty much like google. I use google way more because I feel like it is much safer than safari. I could be wrong… Safari could use some work with all these BAD websites. Can you block these bad websites? I would love to block these websites cause they are scary. Also watch out for nine anime/ 9anime websites… I searched up 9anime on safari and clicked a link. It looked safe but then these inappropriate pop ups kept coming. I immediately got off. I checked my ‘ How much trackers we have prevented’ or whatever it’s called it said that it had prevented 14 trackers from getting my IP address. This was good and bad news. I’m glad that safari and google can prevent these trackers but it is bad because this is dangerous. BE CAREFUL ON SAFARI!!!

Your Underrated Prince, Safari

In my humble opinion, Safari is the underrated king among multiple web browsers on the market. I was a PC devotee from ‘95 to ‘16, since then, it’s been all Tim Cook 🍎 all the time. My only regret is not purchasing a smartphone back in ‘07 from Steve Jobs. Presently, I own an iPhone 6s Plus in rose gold (2016), iPad Mini (2016), iPad Pro (2019) & MacBook (2018) in rose gold with matching Beats By Dre headphones. All four are set up with Safari, not Chrome, TOR, Brave, Edge, or DDGo. I love the ability to quickly save favorites, add to reading list & share content to other platforms. My favorites are alphabetized for quick reference & the reading list keeps all articles & pages in chronological order for quick recall. Also, I learned Safari quickly because it’s extremely user friendly. The browser helped my navigation of Apple when switching from PC. I’ll admit, learning MacBook isn’t easy, but, Safari keeps things familiar for me on the desktop. When lost, just go back to Safari & start over. It’s surprising no one in tech media mentions Safari more often as a go to source for navigating the internet. Chrome is the reigning king of, Land Of Browsers, without an heir apparent. I nominate Safari as the prince with future king potential. Citizens of Land Of Browsers don’t like their chrome-plated dirty laundry aired, sold or tracked.

I have been using this for years and had no problems with it. I ran over my phone with my lawn mower and was without my phone for over a year due to having to fight with the insurance company. However when I finally got a lawyer involved the insurance company finally replaced it for me. I DID not lose anything and I mean anything. I like the cards better because they are easier to clear out. You have to back everything up to your cloud every day or every other day so that you don’t have to worry about losing anything. As I always make sure that I back everything up just in case. It is not apples fault if you lose your any of your information it is yours for not backing up your phone to your cloud. So most of the people who write bad reviews either don’t back up or they just don’t or they just don’t care. Apple doesn’t charge a lot to add more space to your cloud so there is no reason why you can’t back you things. This is better than anything that google has. By far. If you want your information used by third parties then use google’s and quit complaining. You can change your browser in safari so that you don’t have to use them get with it you bad reviews and learn how to use safari.

Safari 8 browser on Yosemite shows major speed boost

On the latest Mac OS, Apple's browser vaults past Firefox and Chrome on some tests. The browser performance race means a more sophisticated Web for us all.

With its new Safari 8 browser built into its OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system , Apple delivered on its promise for a significant boost in browser performance.

On two new speed tests Apple introduced this year called JetStream and Speedometer , Safari vaulted over Google's Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox, and Opera Software's Opera. On a third test, called JSBench -- the one Apple chose to highlight last week as it announced the release of Yosemite -- Safari far outpaced those rivals. But on two other tests, Google's Octane and Mozilla's Kraken , Safari lagged.

Mixed results on benchmarks are nothing new: it's impossible to create a synthetic test that predicts how well a system will do with the vast variety of real-world computing challenges.

But browser makers have picked these tests to guide their development, and high scores generally mean browsers will be faster when you're posting to Facebook, searching at Bing, buying at Amazon or typing at Google Docs.

Faster browsers are important for another reason, too: They let Web developers make more sophisticated sites and apps, giving new power to tools like Google Docs and games like Cut the Rope . So it's no surprise browser makers have been locked in a speed race for years.

Even though it wasn't a clean sweep for Apple's browser, Safari 8 showed significant improvements over Safari 7, including an 81 percent better score on JetStream, 89 percent improvement on Speedometer, and 35 percent jump on Octane. That shows that Safari's new FTL JavaScript engine seems to be doing the job.

I performed my tests with the latest stable versions of the browsers on a 2012 MacBook Pro Retina-display model. For another perspective, I also tested on a 2009 Dell Studio XPS running Windows 8.1, where I could throw Microsoft's Internet Explorer into the mix but where Safari isn't available. The tests were running with extra extensions disabled, no other software running, no other browser tabs open, and with a fresh restart of the browser beforehand.

To show relative progress, I also compared the newest browser versions to the stable versions available in June 2014 for all the tests except JSBench.

New benchmarks for new browsers

Four of the five benchmarks measure a browser's ability to run JavaScript programs fast. JavaScript is the programming language, nearly 20 years old now, that transforms Web pages from static documents to dynamic apps. It's increasingly important to the future of the Web -- especially with so many developers focusing their resources instead on mobile apps that run on Apple's iOS or Google's Android operating systems.

JavaScript speed is central to browser quality, but it's not the only factor. Others include page-load speed, scrolling responsiveness, Web standards support, security protections, and battery and memory usage.

Three of these benchmarks -- Google's Octane, Mozilla's Kraken, and Apple's JetStream -- are conceptually similar. They run a mixture of tasks such as encryption algorithms, GameBoy emulation, PDF rendering, and data sorting.

Speedometer tests a broader range of Web-app technologies, including the Document Object Model (DOM) that lets JavaScript programs change elements of a Web page and the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) standard that governs the layout of elements on a Web page. And JSBench, from Purdue University, executes actual JavaScript code harvested from the Web pages of Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo.

Not coincidentally, each browser maker's browser scores highest on its own benchmark test. You don't need to be cynical about this result, though. Browser makers steer their browser development with the tests, paying close attention when changes give one browser or another a competitive advantage. For one example of the process in use, check Mozilla's Are We Fast Yet site .

That's why Mozilla pats itself on the back when Firefox shows as fastest in its own JavaScript tests.

"Safari substantially lags behind Firefox and Chrome on existing benchmarks such as Octane, Kraken and Sunspider. Firefox is in fact the fastest browser on these benchmarks," Chief Technology Officer Andreas Gal said. Apple's browser engineers created Sunspider years ago, but have since moved away because of shortcomings .

Mozilla will add new Apple tests into the mix if they prove their merit, Gal added.

"Apple appears to have picked a new benchmark that other engines don't yet optimize for," Gal said. "We are constantly evaluating what benchmark best represents Web workloads, and if benchmarks like JetStream or Speedometer become relevant we expect other browsers to improve on them."

Indeed, just to pick two examples, I found Google Docs very snappy in the new Safari. But Safari 8 fared much worse at Atari's Web-based "Centipede" game than Chrome or Firefox.

The results are in

On the JetStream test, Safari 7 was behind Firefox, Chrome and Opera in June. But now Safari 8 handily outdoes the updated versions of those browsers. Safari 8's score of 162 was better than the 145 for Firefox 33, the 133 for Chrome 38, and the 132 for Opera 25.

Because browsers work on multiple operating systems, they can be run on multiple machines. My Windows computer, with an older processor and other components, doesn't fare as well as my Mac, but it's still useful for looking at the relative performance of the browsers on the machine. There, Firefox 33 was in first place with a score of 106, followed by Opera 25 at 101, Chrome 38 at 97 and Internet Explorer 11 at 80.

Octane results were broadly similar, but not as dramatic. There, Safari 8's 35 percent improvement over Safari 7 wasn't enough to give it a better score over No. 1 Opera, No. 2 Chrome or No. 3 Firefox. On Windows, IE again was in last place.

In recent months, Chrome and Opera made significant gains on the Speedometer test, and Firefox improved a little. Safari had been in second place in June but passed Firefox for the lead in October. On Windows, leader Chrome and second-place Opera edged ahead, while third-place Firefox and last-place Internet Explorer posted lower scores.

JSBench gave a very different view of the competitive landscape, trouncing rivals. On this test, where a low number is better, Safari 8's score of 16.9 was vastly better than Chrome at 98.8, Firefox at 99.1, or Opera at 106.8. On Windows, Internet Explorer was the top scorer, though not by a wide margin.

Victory on on browser benchmarks can be fleeting, but it's a top priority in the tech world.

Microsoft's Windows 10 will bring major refinements coming to Chakra, IE's own JavaScript engine . Google is concentrated fiercely on browser performance, with a direct financial benefit at stake: the more people who use Chrome, the less search-advertising revenue Google has to share with other browser makers that refer search traffic to its its search engine. Opera, which uses Google's browser engine, benefits from that work and contributes its own as well. Firefox performance is key to the success of Mozilla's Firefox OS, a mobile operating system geared for lower-end phones that run Web apps, not native apps.

And for Apple, Safari is important not only for Macs but also for iOS -- in particular because many programmers build their apps using Apple's Web-rendering technology behind the scenes.

So, although Apple made major browser performance gains in October, don't expect them to be the final word.

OS X Yosemite first look: Safari 8 Smart Search, advanced tab controls, more

Smart Search Bar

The Smart Search Bar, née Address Bar, is where the majority of Safari 8's new features and improvements can be found. Most noticeably, desktop Safari now follows the mobile Safari convention of hiding all but the root domain of a URL — users need to give the search bar focus by clicking in it to reveal the full URL.

A number of changes come into play once users being to type in the search bar. If the user is currently on a web page, clicking in the search bar will result in an icon-stuffed dropdown menu of the users' favorite and most frequently visited sites. If the user is already at the Favorites or Top Sites screens , however, nothing will happen until the user begins typing.

In either case, once some text has been entered, the bar will default to a Mavericks-style dropdown of Google suggestions and history shortcuts. One notable addition in this view is a new quick links feature that integrates Spotlight suggestions, such as Wikipedia entries, directly into the dropdown.

The most glaring addition to Safari 8's tabbed browsing is the new Mission Control-like tab overview. Activated from a dedicated button in the upper-right hand corner, the new look gives a birds-eye view of every tab currently open in that Safari window, grouped by website.

Safari 8's tab bar also has a slightly different behavior when there are a large number of tabs open, altering the width of tabs on either end, depending on where the currently-focused tab resides. Users can scroll through the bunched-up tabs by swiping side-to-side on their trackpad or Magic Mouse, allowing them to see tabs which are out of view —  this replaces the pulldown menu that previous appeared on the right-hand side when too many tabs were open.

Private Browsing

Private Browsing has been expanded in Safari 8, with users now able to create Chrome-like private windows while allowing other windows to remain open. Previously, going private meant taking every window private at the same time, an inconvenience for many users.

Opening a private window causes the smart search bar to turn a dark gray, similar to the paradigm used in iOS. A short message confirms that any visited pages, search history, or AutoFill information used in a private window won't be retained.

Safari's Clear History function is the beneficiary of a significant makeover. In another move reminiscent of Chrome, users can now choose to clear their history for the past hour, today, today and yesterday, or all time. Interestingly, it appears that Apple is set to synchronize browsing history on every device by default — clearing history on a Mac will also clear history on any other device signed in to the same iCloud account.

Safari 8 brings a huge expansion of sharing options, many of which can be customized using OS X's new systemwide Extensions functionality. Additionally, sharing is now done in translucent overlays — choosing a sharing option will cause the Safari window to "swell" slightly as a screenshot is taken, which will then make its way into the sharing overlay while the rest of the window is darkened.

The web browser that comes with every iPhone , iPod touch , and iPad is called Safari . While you can  install third-party web browsers from the App Store , Safari is a great option for most users.

Apple adapted the iOS version of Safari from the desktop version that has come with Macs for many years. However, the mobile version of Safari is different in many ways.

These instructions apply to devices with iOS 12 or later.

How to Use Safari in iPhone and iOS Devices

To control Safari, you use the same gestures as found elsewhere on the iPhone. Swipe to scroll web pages and tap links to open web pages. But Safari also has some special features that might not have counterparts in other apps you use. Here are some tricks that will help you get the most out of your internet browsing.

Zoom in and Out in iPhone Safari

To zoom in on a particular section of a web page—for example, to enlarge the text on the page you're reading—tap twice on that part of the screen. This gesture enlarges that section of the page. The same double-tap zooms out again.

To have more control over what you're zooming in on, use the iPhone multitouch pinch feature:

• Put your index finger together with your thumb and place both fingers on the part of the iPhone screen that you want to zoom in on.
• Then, drag your fingers apart to zoom in on the page.
• To zoom out and make things smaller, put your fingers at opposite ends of the screen and drag your fingers together in a pinching motion.

To scroll down the page, drag a finger down the screen. On a long, scrolling page, jump back to the top quickly with a single tap. Tap the top center of the screen. The first tap reveals the address bar in Safari, and the second immediately jumps to the top of the web page.

The second tap should be near the top of the screen, on the clock. Otherwise, Safari opens the address field for you to type a search or website address.

Move Back and Forth Through Your History

Safari keeps track of the sites you visit. Use the Back and Forward buttons and gestures to move through the sites and pages you've been to recently. There are two ways to access this feature:

• Arrow buttons  at the lower-left corner of the screen are the Forward and Back buttons.
• Swipe to go back or forward. Swipe the left edge of the screen to go back and the right edge to go forward.

Open a New Safari Tab

Opening a new tab in Safari lets you visit another website without closing the one you're on currently. Here's how to use this feature.

These instructions use Safari with the phone in portrait mode. The features work the same in landscape mode, but the buttons may be in different places.

Tap the Tabs icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. The page you're on gets smaller. Tap the plus icon to open a new, blank tab.

You can also open a link on a web page in a new tab. Find the link you want to open in a new window. Tap and hold the link on the screen to open the menu. Tap  Open in New Tab . The link opens in a new tab.

If your device supports 3D Touch , long-press down to open this menu.

Find the Action Menu in Safari

The icon at the lower-center of Safari that looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it is called the Action menu. Tapping it reveals features to bookmark a site, add it to your favorites or reading list,  make a shortcut for it on your device's home screen , print the page , share a page, and more.

Use Private Browsing in iPhone Safari

Use the Private Browsing mode to browse websites without Safari keeping a browser history, search history, or AutoFill information after you close a tab. To enable it, tap the​ Tabs button   to open your browser tabs. Tap Private  in the lower-left corner to open a private browsing section. Here, you can press the plus button at the bottom to open a private browsing tab and start surfing the web.

To turn Private Browsing Mode off, tap the Private button again in the lower-left corner of the window.

Web development tools

Apple has brought its expertise in development tools to the web. Safari includes Web Inspector, a powerful tool that makes it easy to modify, debug, and optimize websites for peak performance and compatibility on both platforms. And with Responsive Design Mode, you can preview your web pages in various screen sizes, orientations, and resolutions. Access these tools by enabling the Develop menu in Safari’s Advanced preferences.

Web Inspector

Web Inspector is your command center, giving you quick and easy access to the richest set of development tools ever included in a web browser. It helps you inspect all of the resources and activity on a web page, making development more efficient across Apple platforms. The clean, unified design puts each core function in a separate tab, which you can rearrange to fit your workflow. You can even debug memory using Timelines and tweak styles using widgets for over 150 of the most common CSS properties.

Elements. View and inspect the elements that make up the DOM of a web page. Clicking elements from the fully editable markup tree on the left reveals the node’s styles in the middle sidebar, with more details in the right sidebar.

Console. Type JavaScript commands in the console to interactively debug, modify, and get information about your webpage. View logs, errors, and warnings emitted from a webpage, so you can identify issues fast and resolve them right away.

Sources. Find every resource of a webpage, including documents, images, scripts, stylesheets, and more. Use the built-in debugger with data type and code highlights to troubleshoot and understand the script execution flow.

Network. See a detailed list of all network requests made to load every web page resource, so you can quickly evaluate the response, status, timing, and more.

Timelines. Understand all the activity that occurs on an open web page, such as network requests, layout and rendering, JavaScript events, memory, and CPU impact. Everything is neatly plotted on a timeline or recored by frame, helping you discover ways to optimize your site.

Storage. Find details about the data stored by a web page, such as application cache, cookies, databases, indexed databases, local storage, and session storage.

Graphics. Preview animation keyframes and their classes from HTML5 canvas, JavaScript animations, CSS animations, and CSS transitions. Dial in the motion and the visual design of web pages.

Safari Park welcomes first chimpanzee in eight years

A safari park has welcomed a chimpanzee into its resident troop for the first time in eight years.

Visitors to Blair Drummond Safari Park can now see Peter, a 31-year-old male, who arrived in February.

He was transferred to Blair Drummond near Stirling from Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire on February 29.

He had been living alongside another male chimp, Tommy, before the move was recommended by the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme, as it is hoped his relocation will allow Tommy to re-integrate with Twycross’s breeding troop.

For the past few weeks Peter has been settling into his new home and on April 4 he was introduced to Blair Drummond’s resident male, Chippie.

The park said this was carefully planned as introducing chimps can be a complex process requiring patience and strict safety protocols.

Chimpanzee team leader Alasdair Gillies said: “Introducing Peter and Chippie for the first time was naturally quite nerve-wracking.

“Thankfully, this went very well, and the two boys quickly engaged in playing behaviours. Chippie was born here 37 years ago and had never actually met another male chimp.

“However, he’s always been very playful, and we were hopeful that he would enjoy finally having a male friend to play with. Happily, this appears to be the case.

“Peter has also since been introduced to our female chimp, Gill, and the troop now have unrestricted contact with each other.

“We’re delighted that Peter has integrated so well and are certain he will enhance the dynamics of our troop.”

Keeper Georgie Taylor described Peter as “really thoughtful and clever”.

She added: “He’s always watching everything around him and is quite talkative too. He’s not shy about telling us exactly what he wants.

“He’s a brilliant climber and a star in his daily training sessions. We’ve had to earn his trust but now he knows us better, he’s full of character.”

The safari park said all species of chimp are now considered to be endangered in the wild, due to a range of threats including habitat loss, disease and the illegal wildlife trade.

They are also still widely poached for their meat and at risk from warfare across the regions in which they live.

Another critical Chrome update has just been issued

Another Chrome security update has just been issued, with the Stable channel updated to 124.0.6367.78/.79 . This release includes a critical fix to the underlying graphics engine of the type that has allowed attackers to execute code on target machines in the past—albeit no news yet as to any exploitation this time around.

The update also includes two high-severity memory fixes—the kind typically seen in such updates. Google has acknowledged that such memory vulnerabilities in its core engine are the most frequently discovered and exploited. As usual, there is no further information “until a majority of users are updated with a fix.”

Given that Google has designated the first fix—essentially a vulnerability to potential code manipulation—as critical, it seems highly likely it’s a credible threat. And once the fix becomes public, it’s important that users update as soon as they can—the clock is ticking for any exploitation.

Usually, a critical fix might have been the biggest Chrome news of the week, but not this time. The other news is that the death of Chrome’s dreaded tracking cookies has been delayed once again—this time into early 2025, at least.

The issue is Google’s need to balance the privacy of its users with the seemingly fair treatment of its advertisers, especially when it essentially plays both gamekeeper (as owner of the browser) and poacher (as the world’s largest ad machine).

“We recognize that there are ongoing challenges related to reconciling divergent feedback from the industry, regulators and developers,” Google said in a post mid-week, “and will continue to engage closely with the entire ecosystem.”

That’s a critical update of an entirely different kind.

The update comes as Google’s ongoing engagement with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) tries to carve a path through this messy situation. “We will not complete third-party cookie deprecation during the second half of Q4,” Google confirmed. “Assuming we can reach an agreement, we envision proceeding with third-party cookie deprecation starting early next year.”

Google is in something of a bind here, given its unique role in the industry. As web users become ever more privacy savvy, the gap between where Chrome is today and Apple’s Safari remains too wide. Chrome is an excellent browser, and its users rightly want to see it line up more closely with the alternatives.

Google seems to agree—notwithstanding its awkward Incognito Mode stumble—but it needs to find a compromise that doesn’t kill its ad model as well as those cookies.

Meanwhile, the bigger open question is around AI, of course, and just what this will mean for browser searching and advertising in the coming years. All told, by the time these cookies finally disappear, we may be in new territory anyway.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Guy Whittall underwent emergency surgery after being attacked by a wounded leopard while on a hunting session earlier in the week. The incident occurred in Humani, Zimbabwe's Southeast Lowveld and while Whittall was on his family game reserve, a place where he had previously encountered wild animals.

The attack happened early in the week and resulted in serious injuries for Guy Whittall, who was promptly airlifted to Harare for emergency medical treatment. His wife, Hannah Stooks-Whittall, took to Facebook to share the harrowing news with friends, family, and fans. In her post, she detailed the severity of the situation, revealing that Whittall had lost a significant amount of blood and required urgent care.

Hannah's message on social media was both a notification and a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards the medical staff at Hippo Clinic, who stabilised her husband before he could be transferred to Milton Park Hospital for further treatment. She described the overwhelming support they received: "Guy and I are overwhelmed by the hundreds of messages of well-wishers after Guy's run-in with a wounded leopard earlier today," she wrote.
