Amazing tour! Fast paced and fun with incredible views of the highlands.

Wonderful trip. Saw a great variety of places.
Scotland was beautiful, the hotels and meals ....not so good. The coach and driver were excellent, while the tour director had exactly nothing to say while driving for hours thru magnificent landscapes. The Edinburgh hotel was passable, but was not in Edinburgh. The hotel in Glasboro was a Radison Blue, which was fine. the remaining hotels were awful. In one hotel we had a double bed, not a king, not a queen, but a double bed....really! In 2 hotels the fire alarms went off before 6AM in the morning. You had to react because these buildings were old and most may have lacked fire protection. The hotel breakfasts were generally awful, crowded, and long waits to get a coffee from the machine. The included dinners were terrible, the same menu night after night. One exception was the included dinner in Edinburgh, which was at a restaurant and was quality food and drink. everything after that was trash. breakfast on the last day in Glasgow was very nice, and what I would have expected from an upscale tour. One thing I thought was an insult, was the night spent on Skye. There was no included tour of Skye, so if you wanted to see anything other than the hotel, the only choice was an optional $29.00 bus ride for an hour or so. Bad weather forced the cancellation of the trip to Orkney...so we killed a day with a castle visit. Earlier this year we were on a Viking river cruise that missed a port for a mechanical reason. Before I got home, Viking sent me a $1000.00 credit for a future cruise. They know how to treat guests, Insight not so much. In summary, low end hotels that were in many cases dirty, and mediocre food, and a tour director that had nothing to say. that will be my first and last Insight tour.

G Adventures

G Adventures

Tour guide and bus driver were both excellent. Starting hotel was terrible and no where near the main area of Edinburgh. Breakfast there was a granola bar, croissant in a plastic wrap, a yogurt, and a juice box. Our hotel room in Inverness had a leaky ceiling which we reported to the front desk right away. They said they sent maintenance to fix the issue, but that evening it was leaking again. G Adventures itinerary is not reflective of the actual tour and for many extra activities listed there was no time to do them even if we had wanted to. Isle of Skye was a real highlight along with Inverness. We only received our tour vouchers the night before we left Canada and we had to call to get it. We will not consider G Adventures for any of our future travel needs.
This was my second G Adventures tour and it proved to be as enjoyable as the first one, which was the main reason my wife and I booked it. The small size of the tour group and the variety of people made it all the better. The tour offered a good balance between structured visits of major attractions and free time to explore on our own. I would not hesitate to recommend a G Adventures tour to anyone seeking a guided travel experience in the company of other like-minded travelers.

Intrepid Travel

Intrepid Travel

Intrepid needs to tighten up this tour. Two free afternoons is too much when one has only three days on the island. Either make the tour two full days or two full days with one full day free to make plans to go to Hoy or Rousay. Give people guidance on what to do on the free day.
I recently traveled with a friend to Scotland. We included a week long tour with Intrepid, booked through Tour Radar. We paid a very healthy sum for the tour, $3,460 each. The description said the trip was appropriate for ages 15-99. It also described two nights in Portree on Isle of Skye with a private van tour on the full day on Isle of Sky. My friend and I chose this tour because of the time spent in Portree and on Isle of Skye, the small group size, and that if it was okay for ages 15-99 then I’d be fine six months post a major knee surgery. What wasn’t included in the description and what happened: -No where did it say that we’d be expected to walk/transport our luggage on foot from Points of transportation to our lodging ranging from 10-20 minutes. My 94 year old father-in-law lives with us and is able bodied, but there’s no way he could have done these distances While also carrying/pulling luggage. My 87 year old mother could not accomplish this either. I could do it with my recovering knee, but I was slower and it also used up some of the energy I needed for enjoying walking portions of the tour. I didn’t anticipate having to schlep my suitcase for 15 minutes at a time over uneven sidewalks, etc. I would have packed differently had I known or we would have looked for a different tour. -My friend and I still wonder why Fort Williams was included on the itinerary as a place to stay?
The only thing Intrepid provided was a walk to a castle that wasn’t open for visitors. The rest was on our own and there really wasn’t much happening other than a nice, little museum. We would have preferred more time on Isle of Skye. -We were notified prior to departure that our time on Isle of Skye would be at Kyleakin - not in Portree- and we’d have to arrange our own tour. Phone numbers were provided but no one on the tour had any luck booking anything prior to arriving, calls not returned, no availability, etc. So, 3-4 of our tour group spent 2 FULL hours or more on their phones while we were in Fort Williams trying to come up with some options for us. They pieced together a public bus ride to/from Kyleakin to Portree and a private taxi tour at our own expense! (After paying for it in the cost of our tour.) This should have been done by Intrepid!! Not once were we offered reimbursement. We didn’t have any time in Portree. We’d hoped to have lunch before our taxi tour, but all the restaurants were full. I found a to-go cup of tea and scone at a bike shop, then time in cue to use a bathroom. I’d looked forward to staying in Portree and had many places I had planned to walk to when not on the private van tour we were sold but didn’t get. Also, While staying in Kyleakin, the guest house did not provide a cooked breakfast, just light snacks in our rooms. Breakfast was provided, but we had to walk to/from the restaurant that was a mile each way. This used up time we could have been site seeing. Also, it would use up my knee energy for the days site-seeing. My friend went to breakfast but I skipped the walk to reserve my energy for site-seeing. Oh, and the whiskey tasting…we passed distilleries but we Were given a private lesson on tasting with our tour guide. While he did a fine job, the setting was not the same as a distillery setting. The room was bare, we used wine glasses, we were Supposed to take notes but no hard surfaces to write on, etc. Just wasn’t what any of us were expecting. I found Intrepid’s disregard for the changes and the misleading descriptions as to be very unprofessional. I use tours so that I don’t have to do all of the arranging. Why pay you if I’m going to have to do it myself? Next time I book a tour, I’ll be sure to avoid Intrepid. Many friends have asked about my trip. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the tour. I’ve shared that multiple times now. I’m not the only member of the group that walked away Disappointed. We didn’t want to “blame” the tour guide, I don’t think he was responsible, he was just trying to keep us happy as he could sense how displeased we were. His answers too our questions were not satisfying at all. He seemed to be trying to cover for the company best he could.

The tour guide, Linda, was great as was the coach driver, Mike. The coach was very comfortable and the sites we visited were great. The tour was well organized and well executed. The meals were very good as well. The only thing making this “good” and not “excellent” is that I had to sleep on a pullout couch for three nights of the tour which much surprised me for something billed as a first class tour. So if you plan to go three to a room, be prepared for someone to be on a couch.
this guided tour was very good. we covered many places and did many activities. the guide was very good, always available, attentive and with a good knowledge. I recommend this tour

Overall it was a very nice trip, I think it was well laid out for traveling
This trip was a wonderful experience! The accommodation with one exception was fantastic! The end stops each day were all very nice. I gave my okay rating because we gleaned more information from our evening hosts than we ever received from Tour Radar. Be aware that It will be very important for you to get your own tour books, figure out a route between stops and obtain all your maps as this information was never provided. The final hotel in Edinburgh where you have two nights, B+B Edinburgh does not have any place to park a car so you will have to pay 4.10 pounds per hour to park on the street. Totally unacceptable to book a hotel that does not have room for the car that is provided. This is a very busy schedule to complete in the time provided so if you get the chance to extend the trip by adding another day in Portee on Skye and perhaps finishing the trip in St. Andrews then returning the car to the import then spending some time in Edinburgh on your own at the end of the trip.

I absolutely loved the Real Britain tour by Trafalgar! Our guide Paul was very friendly and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour which made our time so enjoyable! Our driver Ian was also very good! I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants a well-rounded taste of England! I was very happy to see a bit of Scotland as well! The only thing I would ask is that Tour Radar would put more specific details about the tour on their site as it appears on Trafalgar’s website. I would have appreciated the list of the names of the hotels, optional experiences, and which particular meals were included etc. Having finished the tour, I know better where I would like to stay longer the next time I’m in England! I got to see so much amazing scenery in the countryside as we travelled and sights at the destinations we stopped. It was truly a wonderful and unforgettable experience!

Our tour guide, Ryan, was outstanding! He immediately put us at ease with his friendly and personable manner. His knowledge of the complicated roads and history of the areas we visited gave us the safety we needed to deeply enjoy the beautiful landscapes and fascinating history Scotland has. Thank you for the perfect vacation!
The Spirit of Outlander tour was great! This tour is geared for Outlander fans but you don't have to be a fan to enjoy all the locations visited. Our tour guide, Paul, was fantastic! His knowledge, enthusiasm, and professionalism was 5-star! It was very exciting to visit the filming sites of Outlander and to be walking in the footsteps of the actors! There were a variety of locations to visit daily from castles to churches and gardens. There were also unscheduled photo stops to capture the scenic beauty on the way to visiting various locations. My husband and I waited over 2 years to take this trip (due to Covid) and it was worth the wait! The hotels were top notch and the meals provided were good! A thoroughly exciting trip!

Tours, which last about 75 minutes, start at the Mercat Cross on High Street and conclude with a visit to the company's Discovery Room, which houses various artifacts as well as a model of the vaults. Tours depart three times daily at noon and 2 and 4 p.m. Tickets start at 20 pounds (about $25) for adults and 15 pounds (around $19) for children 5 to 15. Children younger than 5 may not tour. Mercat Tours also leads a number of other walks related to Edinburgh's history and lore, in addition to private tours.

Scotland's Wild Tours – Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Tour

Admire some of the country's most spectacular natural wonders on this eight-hour bus journey, which explores Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park – Scotland's first national park. Beyond viewing the mountains, valleys, lakes, waterfalls, flora and fauna from the seat of the bus, travelers also enjoy several hikes. Guides provide information regarding the geography, history and culture of the area, and they are generally regarded as both professional and personable by fellow travelers. The tour, which is limited to eight participants, is generally offered at 9 a.m. daily from April through October. Tickets cost approximately 59 pounds (about $73) for adults and 54 pounds (around $67) for children ages 12 to 15. Keep in mind, the minimum age to take the tour is 12. The tour departs from the village of Balloch, which sits about 20 miles northwest of Glasgow. The company also operates tours of Glencoe and the Highlands in addition to private tours.

Glasgow Gander Walking Tours

This walking tour of Glasgow leads participants to top destinations, such as Buchanan Street, the Glasgow City Chambers , Trades Hall, Merchant City, the Glasgow Cathedral and more. Travelers laud guides as highly entertaining and knowledgeable about the city's architecture, culture and history. Several reviewers also say this tour is a fantastic value. Tours depart from Royal Exchange Square near the Gallery of Modern Art (where the Duke of Wellington statue typically dons a traffic cone on its head) Wednesday through Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The approximately 1 1/2-mile jaunt usually last about three hours. Tickets cost 12 pounds (or about $15) per person.

City Explorers – Free Ghost Tour

Is Edinburgh haunted? Here's one way to find out. City Explorers' Free Ghost Tour explores the city's more fiendish history, as guides recount tales of infamous murders, witch trials, public executions and the like while traipsing through Old Town's cemeteries and dark alleyways. While some tour-takers say the expedition could be spookier, most agree that it is great fun and that the guides' storytelling is highly entertaining. The 90-minute walking tour takes place each evening at 7 p.m., starting outside the Copper Still bar. While there's no charge to take this tour, guides appreciate tips at the conclusion. City Explorers also offers a free tour of Edinburgh and a free "Harry Potter" tour, among others.

Terrific Trip To Scotland

We had an amazing three-week trip in Scotland working with Luxury Scotland tours! Struan and Helen helped us to plan a terrific itinerary including castles and other interesting historical sites, first-class golf, fabulous hiking in scenic areas, and great whisky! They also booked a diverse mix of hotels and restaurants in beautiful locations. Our driver Alan was excellent, always where we needed him to be and providing lots of local insight. Overall, it was a very memorable trip and a 5-star service experience all the way. Exceeded our expectations. Very highly recommended!

Perfect Vacation

Everything about our experience with Luxury Scotland Tours was perfect. Amy took our wish list, whisky tasting, sheepherding, manor houses, castles, luxury hotels, good restaurants, shopping; and created 10 amazing days in the Highlands, Edinburgh and Saint Andrews. She allowed not only for tours but for time on our own to explore. Our driver, Brian, was amazing and like everyone we met in Scotland friendly, funny and helpful. Great trip....next time England!

Wonderful holiday

Luxury Scotland Tours worked closely with us to plan a varied agenda with a private driver. We had a fantastic time on private boat trips on Loch Ness and Loch Lomond (Captain Gordon and Captain Richard are charming storytellers), touring castles, tasting Whisky at Dalwhinnie and chocolates at the Highland Choclatier. Do ner reservations were handled for us (highly recommend) and the hotels were excellent. 10 days flew by and when we return we will tap our new friends at Luxury Scotland Tours again.

FIVE STAR TOUR OF SCOTLAND

We contacted Luxury Scotland Tours to plan a holiday for our family of four adults, and they responded with a brilliant itinerary to explore the Highlands, Orkney and Edinburgh. Struan and Florence asked what we'd like to see and experience, then put together a fabulous roadmap to see castles, abbeys, mountains, beautiful lochs, archaeological sites and ancient standing stones. Oh, and a whisky distillery! The van was very roomy and comfortable. The lodging at each stop was exceptional, with fine restaurants and amenities. The itinerary was flexible, as we opted to change our route along the way to see other sites of interest. Our driver, Alan, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. By the end of the trip, we had adopted him as family. Luxury Scotland Tours provides expert planning, excellent services and communication. The best recommendation we can give is that we did not want the tour to end! FIVE STARS!!!

Outstanding way to see Scotland

We wanted to visit Scotland in 2020. Covid. 2021 Covid. 2022 Covid. 2022 was not travel restrictions, but my wife got Covid. Year one and year two Luxury Scotland Tours made it easy by just shifting all our reservations out a year. In 2022 we had to file a travel insurance claim and LST made that as easy as possible by providing all the documentation required to get reimbursed from the insurance company, who, like Voldemort, shall not be named as they were a pain to deal with. We finally made it in October of 2023. We arrived to the worst rainfall in 30 years and our route to Crinan from Edinburgh was blocked, so we never got there. We retreated to Glasgow for the night. The next day we just tried to get back on track and we did that. Our guide/driver Neil was amazingly calm throughout, and that kept us calm. He was even calm 30 minutes into the first day of our trip when we were rear-ended in traffic. If this had been a self-driving trip I would have lost my composure. Between the accident and the flooding I'm not sure I would have finished the trip if I had been self-driving. It was great to have someone else handle the adversity of the flooding and the minor car accident. Our first several days were spent traveling. The last two days were in Edinburgh with a local photographer. His knowledge of Edinburgh and the surrounding area was extensive and he put me in the right place at the right time over and over again to capture some great photos. All in all we saw a LOT of Scotland. I highly recommend this trip to anybody who wants to see Scotland. Ours was awesome.

Great Scotland Experience

We had such a wonderful experience in Scotland and it was so well planned. Our guide/driver, George, was so pleasant and informative. He let us off at each place, told us to take our time and he would pick us up at a certain place in say a couple hours. Each day was a new experience and all well planned. The accommodations were definitely 5 star. The restaurants were superb. Seriously this was one of the most relaxing, stress free and enjoyable vacations we have ever taken. I would definitely take a trip with your company anywhere.

Trip of a Lifetime!

Trip of a Lifetime! We are 8 long time golf friends who had the most wonderful experience of touring Scotland and playing golf at St. Andrews, Gullane, Castle Stuart, Kingsbarns, and Gleneagles for 12 days on a luxury tour created for us by Luxury Scotland Tours. We did not have to plan or do anything but enjoy the trip. Luxury Scotland Tours did it all in style. We give Luxury Scotland Tours greater than 5 stars, 5 stars+, it was truly the best trip we have all experienced. The Mercedes Van was beyond comfortable with snacks and drinks always available, and our drivers, David and Neil, were wonderfully engaging, engaging, and just fun to be with. The lodging was first class with completely comfort and all of our needs taken care. The restaurants recommended by Luxury Scotland Tours were impeccable, incredible food and service, and always walking distance to our hotel. In addition to planning everything our golf days, Luxury Scotland Tours planned a very informative and enjoyable excursions such as a personally guided walking tour Edinburgh, tours of castles, cathedrals, distilleries, a private tasting with Iain Burnett, a renowned chocolatier, a private cruise with Gordon on the Loch Ness, shopping areas, and the list goes on. Luxury Scotland Tours’ attention to detail for the enjoyment of their clients cannot be overstated. It was truly the trip of a lifetime for all of us. Thank you Helen, David, Neil, Struan and all of you at Luxury Scotland Tours!

Our multi generational bespoke trip to Scotland

We went on a multi generational bespoke trip planned by Luxury Scotland Tour. We were escorted by John, our driver, who provided local information that you could not get in guide books. Our trip included staying at wonderful hotels (we always had the best rooms) and eating in gourmet restaurants. All the reservations were taken care of by Ophelie. We gave LST our wish list and they incorporated it into a fabulous itinerary. They planned outings that included our two teenage grandsons. From the time we arrived to the time we left, we had no worries. We will definitely use them again on a return trip to Scotland.

The perfect tour

It was an amazing experience. Totally recommendable. Worth every penny. The tour was meticulously organized and designed especially to fulfill our desires. All the hotels we stayed in were charming, beautiful and functional. The excursions gave us the perfect idea of Scotland and its incredible beauty. Our driver, Stan, was very professional, polite, patient and always on time. I'd like to recognize the marvelous job of Florence, who organized all the details of our travel. Thank to Stan and Florence we had the best vacations of our lives.

Scotland in luxury

What an amazing time we had. From our first enquiry with Ruaridh to Helen handling our whole personalised trip, everything was perfectly organised. Gary, our driver, had a wonderful sense of humour and had interesting bits of information on the stunning areas we travelled through. The Scottish people are extremely welcoming and friendly and we immediately felt like we were home from home. I highly recommend Luxury Scotland. We will definitely be using them again.

Dream family vacation to Scotland

Luxury Scotland Tours did an amazing job at planning our family trip to Scotland. There was not a single hiccup during our trip and everything was planned as promised. Our driver Allen was absolutely amazing and made our trip even more amazing. All of the hotels were beautiful and the restaurant recommendations were perfect. I highly recommend using them for your next trip to Scotland.

Our itinerary was expertly planned

Our itinerary was expertly planned, and allowed for our minor customizations! Every accommodation was incredible, and the food throughout exquisite. You’d think 1-2 whisky Distillery tours per day would get repetitive, but each establishment chosen by Luxury provided unique spins on their way of doing things, or history, etc. Finally, our driver was absolutely amazing!! We only wished we could have spent more time in certain areas, but we wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on anything we did — next time we will just need Luxury to plan for more time away for us!

Just completed a distillery tour of Scotland

Just completed a distillery tour of Scotland with my sons. I booked the experience with Luxury Scotland Tours and they exceeded my expectations! Everything was first class; from our driver, lodgings, tours and tastings and assistance during the trip. We added some things canceled some things and rearranged some things and there was never hiccups! I would highly recommend them for ANY type of tour, whether it's a distillery tour, a golf tour or just a sightseeing tour. They are a first class organization from the principle to all members of the staff!

They did a great job organizing our wonderful trip to Scotland. It was everything we asked them to arrange for us. The hotels were each unique and gave us many different lodging experiences, all at the high end. They took care of dinner reservations, from casual to exquisite tasting menus. Our driver was professional and friendly as well as accommodating and made adjustments as we went along to make sure we got to see as much as possible. The office staff was great. We highly recommend them!

We had an amazing whisky tour experience, thanks to Luxury Scotland tours. It was a custom planned 5 days, super busy schedule that included 2-3 distillery tours and tastings every day. Michelle was incredibly helpful planning the entire tour advising every step of the way as to what's doable vs not. Florence was also great with the tour purchases and travel consultancy. They were also extremely instrumental to come up with alternatives when something wouldn't fit into our schedule due to timings. The transportation vehicle was true luxury with the safest driver ever (I am not exaggerating). He was there for us every step of the trip. The hotels were also very smartly recommended within our budget. Truly an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend them

Perfect trip!

Luxury Scotland Tours has set the bar extremely high for all our future travels. Their staff and attention to detail was amazing. Struan and Helen did a great job planning our vacation. Our first stop was Edinburgh where Hannah gave us a fun tour of the city. She was lovely and very knowledgeable. We then were picked up by our personal driver, Bruce, and headed to the Highlands for a week. Bruce was absolutely wonderful! He quickly learned our tastes and suggested perfect add-ins when there was time or unforeseen barriers occurred (like a mudslide on Skye). We could not have asked for a better trip, other than having more time. We will most definitely be back, and will use Luxury Scotland Tours (requesting Bruce) again!

“Short trip to Glasgow and the Highlands”

We took the 3-day Glasgow, Loch Ness and the Highlands package with Scottish Tours. Everything was well organized and the agent I was dealing with very helpful. All our tickets arrived by email, and it was easy to download everything on my phone. The train journey was fine, although the journey to Glasgow was late. Seemingly there was a broken-down train somewhere that delayed us. Couldn't be helped I suppose. Our hotel was in the city centre, just a few minutes walk from the train station. The hop-on, hop-off tour was a great way of getting our bearings. We visited the Riverside Museum and Kelvingrove Art Gallery - if you go to Glasgow please go, they are well worth the effort. Our trip to the Highlands was amazing. It was a long day, but we saw a lot of Scotland. We took the optional cruise on Loch Ness, which cost an additional £36 for the two of us. Nessie didn't show up, but the scenery was awesome. If, like us, you live in London and want a quick visit to Scotland I'd recommend checking out Scottish Tours.

“Stirling Castle and Whisky”

The tour started at the Destilery ( up side down... no problem). But is really necesary for to see a Destilery in Scotland, to make a long trip from Edimburg to Glasgow, about 45 miles.? Second: we have not been in Aberfoyle, as it was announced. Third: we have not been in Dukes Pass, as it was announced. Fourth: we have not been at the Kelpies, as it was announced. Three places to visit... missing.! Problem with the air conditioned in the mini bus. Bad logistic and around 40% less visits that were announced and we have paid for. I am sorry to say that, but is the real truth.
