SHELBY HERITAGE CENTER DESCRIPTION

Established in 2013, the Shelby Heritage Center is a 15,000-square-foot space dedicated to the famous racecar brand and its iconic creator, Carroll Shelby. 

The center is home to over 30 iconic vehicles, with the inventory consistently changing to keep their displays fresh, and is attached to the production facility where new cars are made. Guests can purchase a VIP tour that'll take them into the production facility to get an in-depth look behind-the-scenes and includes a gift bag full of authentic Shelby merch. 

Self-guided tours of the Heritage Center are free of charge, and make sure to check out their gift shop that sells collectible gifts, apparel, and even performance parts for late-model Mustangs.

Who Was Carroll Shelby?

Carroll Shelby is known to the world of racing as one of the most respected drivers in modern history. After serving in World War II, Carroll Shelby took up a little hobby of racing cars, which quickly turned into an adrenaline-fueled career at a relatively young age. In the 1950s, he raced throughout the United States, England, and Mexico. In 1957, he earned the distinction of being named Sports Illustrated Driver of the Year. 

It wasn’t long after this that Carroll Shelby was forced into retirement from racing due to complications of a heart defect present at birth. Unable to continue racing, he wasn’t yet ready to give up the world he loved and decided to focus on building race cars. 

Shelby contacted a British automobile manufacturer by the name of AC Cars to assist him by providing him with a chassis to accommodate a Ford V8 engine. A partnership was formed, and Carroll Shelby became known as the mastermind behind the AC Cobra. Eventually, Shelby America was formed and produced popular models, such as the Carroll Shelby Signature Edition Mustang, the Shelby GT, and the Shelby SuperSnake.

Can I buy a Shelby Cobra?

You can buy a Cobra, but the price will cost you a pretty penny. An original, large-black Cobra can be purchased in the ballpark of $3M-$6M. Rumor has it that there are fewer than 900 original Cobras remaining today.

Only 5 Cobras will be built in 2024 and will cost $750,000.

How much is a new Shelby?

The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a base price starting at $80,795. Of course, if you’re going to spend that on a Shelby model, you might as well go all out with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, which features aerodynamic add-ons, 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels, and Michelin Pilot Port Cup 2 tires, for an extra $18,500.

Shelby County Health Department to host tour for 'Bike-to-Work Day' in medical district

A bicycle tour of the Memphis Medical District is being organized by the Shelby County Health Department and their partners Explore Bike Share and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative.

The tour is said to take place on May 17 and start at 8 a.m. on the front lawn of 814 Jefferson Avenue. The event, celebrating "National Bike-To-Work" Day, is also a celebration of a new bike-sharing station at this location.

This station is brought to the area by Explore Bike Share , a Memphis non-profit that supplies e-Bikes.

“Explore Bike Share is truly excited to partner with the Shelby County Health Department to offer their staff members and the public this opportunity to exercise and learn more about cycling as an alternative way to travel,” said Anton Mack, Executive Director of Explore Bike Share.

A limited number of e-bikes will reportedly be available on a first-come, first-served basis during the event. The public is also welcome to bring their own bikes to join the guided tour, according to the health department.

This event also aims to highlight the Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC) — a community development organization working with institutions like the Shelby County Health Department to "strengthen the connections, communities, and campuses located in the district to create a more vibrant, prosperous, and equitable community."

“The Memphis Medical District Collaborative is proud to be a part of this effort to promote cycling in the Medical District,” said Rory Thomas, President of the Memphis Medical District Collaborative. “The Medical District is more than just a great place to live and work. It is also a great place to visit, dine and shop. Biking is the perfect way to see all the amenities it offers while connecting our campuses and neighborhoods.”

“Cycling is an environmentally friendly way to travel, and a great form of aerobic exercise,” said Dr. Michelle Taylor, Director of the Shelby County Health Department. “Regular cycling strengthens the cardiovascular system, promotes balance and coordination, increases muscle strength and flexibility, and reduces stress. The Shelby County Health Department is proud to promote cycling and Explore Bike Share with this guided ride through the beautiful Memphis Medical District. We hope the participants will consider cycling as a commute option to get where they need to go for work or play.”

Reba McEntire teases 'big production' for her 2024 ACM Awards performance

McEntire, who is hosting the awards show, will perform her new song "I Can't."

When Reba McEntire steps onto the stage as host of the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16, she said she looks forward to hearing the "roar of the crowd."

The country music superstar isn't just emceeing the awards show for the 17th time -- more than any other artist -- she's doing so nearly 30 years after she took home the top prize of entertainer of the year in 1995.

"It was a wonderful night," McEntire reminisced in a new interview with "Good Morning America" ahead of her hosting gig at the 59th ACM Awards. "I was shocked. Thrilled."

"You work so hard to put on the best show possible, and when I won that, it just gave [me] the enthusiasm and the [positivity to say], 'They like what I'm doing, so let's continue on and do more,'" she added.

The crowd will certainly be on its feet when the Grammy winner takes to the ACM Awards stage to perform her new single "I Can't," which she teased as "a big production."

"I just saw my outfit yesterday. It's absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to have it," she said. "So, I'm really excited about it."

McEntire described "I Can't" as "a very strong woman song" that has a lot of the "swampy-type minors" she loves to sing.

"It's a little different from anything I've done in a while," she said. "So I hope everybody enjoys it."

Reflecting on her career, specifically people telling her she couldn't do something, McEntire said that's something that has always fueled her.

"I've had that all my life," she said. "And I'm so glad they did, because that just gave me the determination to do it."

As for what she looks for when choosing new music to put out, McEntire said it's always "something different that will grab my heart, because if I love it and it touches my heart when I sing it and I do my job right, it'll touch your heart."

The "I'm a Survivor" singer said she's looking forward to meeting new talent like Megan Moroney at the ACM Awards and also praised Beyoncé for "surprising" her with her choices on her recent country-inspired "Cowboy Carter" album.

"It reminded me more of the really, really old country music instead of like the '80s and '90s country music," she said, referring to "Cowboy Carter." "It was very interesting to me the era she chose to go into for country music."

The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards will stream live on Amazon's Prime Video on Thursday, May 16, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. A limited number of tickets for the awards show are still available for purchase on SeatGeek.

Kelsey Plum turned heads on Tuesday night after arriving at the Las Vegas Aces season opener in a barely there full Alexander Wang outfit that showed off some skin.

The WNBA star, 29, went immediately viral when she stepped out in a sleeveless leather cropped vest ($995) with nothing underneath.

She paired the unbuttoned waistcoat with matching low-slung leather trousers ($1,595), which featured crochet detailing along the waistband.

Plum wore lots of silver jewelry — including a large cross pendant and a bolo-inspired drop necklace — and dark sunglasses. However, her enviable abs served as the main accessory.

The championship-winning athlete completed the ‘fit with a  crinkled patent leather crescent handbag  ($595) and square-toed moto boots ( $695 $415).

Plum, who was styled by Sydney Bordonaro, wore her dark hair up in a sleek bun and shielded her face with cat-eye sunglasses.

After getting her second championship ring, Plum helped lead the Aces to their first win of the season, beating The Phoenix Mercury 89-80.

While Plum has always had fun with her fashion, she seems to have leveled up amid her split from Darren Waller.

The athletes filed a joint petition for divorce last month after just one year of marriage.

While the New York Giants tight end has yet to address their breakup , Plum told her Instagram followers she was “devastated” by the decision right after the news broke.

“I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go,” she wrote atop a black screen on her Story.

“God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends,” the basketball player continued.

“One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day. Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy. Much love KP.”

Last week, the WNBA star told Fox 5 News that she grew a lot amid their “tough” split.

“But, you know, for me, I’m super grateful. I think my faith has grown tremendously and not just that, but I know who I am. You kind of get refined by fire.”

To kick off this new chapter of her life, the brunette beauty stripped down for the latest Skims campaign alongside several other WNBA stars — including Candace Parker, Dijonai Carrington, Skylar Diggins-Smith and newcomer Cameron Brink.

In the shots, Plum donned the Skims  Fits Everybody Bandeau  ($28) and a pair of matching underwear, which she accessorized with a belly chain.

She also wore black pointed-toe pumps and massive diamond drop earrings in a few of the pics.

We can only imagine what high-fashion looks are to come this season from Plum.
