The Corrs (formed in 1991) is an Irish family pop, rock and celtic fusion band, best known for their third full-length pop album “In Blue”, hailing from Dundalk, Country Louth, Ireland.

Prior to the formation of the Coors, siblings Jim and Sharon Corr began playing music together at their aunt’s pub, McManus’s. Fellow siblings Caroline and Andrea Corr subsequently joined and the Corrs was born. The group’s breakthrough came when they landed roles in the 1991 film, “The Commitments”, and secured John Hughes as their manager. Following a successful show at Whelan’s Bar in Dublin, the group were invited by the U.S. ambassador for Ireland to play at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in Boston.

After singing with Atlantic Records, the Corrs released their debut studio album “Forgiven, Not Forgotten” in September 1995. Combining the traditional celtic fiddle work and vocals with folk and alternative rock, the album spawned the singles “Runaway”, “Forgiven, Not Forgotten”, “The Right Time”, and “Love to Love You”. In support of the record, which charted in over 18 countries, the Corrs embarked on a world tour from April 1996 which included Europe, Australia, Asia, America, and Canada.

The band’s sophomore album “Talk On Corners” was released in 1997 and produced by Glen Ballard, known for his work with Alanis Morissette. Aided by the Top 10 singles “Only When I Sleep”, “I Never Loved You Anyway”, “What Can I Do”, and “Dreams”, the record catapulted the group to UK success, topping the Irish and the UK Albums Chart. The Corrs’ third full-length to date, “In Blue”, followed in July 2000, marked by a move towards mainstream pop and away from celtic traditions. Toping the charts in nine countries including the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Australia, the record produced the singles “Breathless”, “Irresistible”, and “Give Me a Reason”.

In 2001, the band issued the compilation “Best of The Corrs” before contributing to Josh Groban’s debut album “Canto Alla Vita”. The Corrs subsequently performed a successful show at Ardmore Studios in which U2’s Bono and the Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood made appearances, which culminated in the live album, “VH1 Presents: The Corrs, Live in Dublin”. Returning to their folk rock roots, the band’s fourth studio album “Borrowed Heaven” arrived in May 2004. Led by the singles “Summer Sunshine”, “Angel”, and “Long Night”, the record didn’t prove as popular with mainstream audiences however was seen as a return to form.

Completely dropping the mainstream pop influences, released exactly 10 years after “Forgiven, Not Forgotten”, the Corrs’ fifth studio album “Home” arrived in September 2005. Earning a string of positive reviews, the record went on to sell over a million copies, led by the single “Heart Like a Wheel/Old Town”.

Live reviews

This was the first time I'd seen the Corrs since their memorable St Patrick's Day gig at the Royal Albert Hall in 1998, in part due to them taking a decade break from 2005. The other reason for that was the gradual move towards mainstream pop, and starting to play at Arenas such as this, which made them a lot less appealing. The Corrs are not suited to arena gigs - their sound is just, well, not big enough. A theatre is much more them.

Anyhow, this was at the O2 arena, and to be fair they made a good fist of it. However, too often they were neglecting their roots (e.g. playing a medley of great folk instrumentals, rather than giving the songs the time they deserve, and playing them in full), and particularly Sharon's fab fiddle playing. When they did go back to them (e.g. on 'Toss the Feathers', and 'Radio', with an excellent extended fiddle outro), they were excellent, there just needed to be more of it. And there needed to be more, full stop, with the set around 1 hr 45 minutes, at least 15 minutes too short for an established act.

The set was also far too heavy on their second album 'Talk on Corners', with 6 songs from it played (including 'Dreams'), although a couple of the highlights - a very rocky 'So Young' and 'Queen of Hollywood' (featuring a storming guitar solo) - were from that album.

All, in all, a good gig, albeit one with ups and downs - and well worth seeing.

With countless platinum selling albums and singles released over the years, the Corr siblings continue to produce and perform their famous combination of traditional Celtic Irish themes, with pop/rock music which maintains its appeal of originality. When I saw them in concert, the night flew past, it all seems like an incredibly magical blur. I was lucky enough to get tickets for myself and a few friends in Manchester, and it really was the best gig i've ever been to. There was something extremely special about seeing the musicians perform with such passion and enthusiasm to such a vast audience, whilst seeming to personally interact with everyone in the concert hall.

They came to the stage just after 19.30, to the backing track of a prerecorded introduction that fuelled the enthusiasm of the audience even further. They launched straight into their first song without any introduction, which created tumultuous screams from the fans. After a few of their classics, they stopped to introduce the show, and thank us for being there which was really great. I loved how they played a great balance of the classics, really well known songs, and also some of their new material which is great! A simply unbelievable concert, don't miss out if you get the chance to go.

Hi, I am 72 years old, and I believe i am one of the eldest followers\fans of The Corrs.

I follow this wonderful group ever since when the first album "Forgiven Not Forgotten" was launched in 1996, and after having listened to it, I haven't rested until I bought it. I own the whole band's discography either in CD's and DVD's and I was present in the first live concert in Portugal - Braga when it took place in 2005, it was a spectacular performance and one of the last before the band fell apart, and since it did I became interested in Sharon Corr and her performances instead. Which remind me of her concert in Galicia - S. Tiago de Compostela in the Lope de Vega theater, and in Dublin - The Sugar Club in which I was also present.

In regard to what I think about the White Light Tour in Dublin - Arena 3 no words can describe it, it was the best concert I watched in my whole life and is one that I will forever remember.

I was touched by that performance and the experience it was. Easily the best concert of The Corrs for me, they know how value the merit given to them by their fans and naturally you can count on me in future events.

Best regards from Domingos Silvestre.

Ireland has produced good musicians & great musicians over the years but The Corrs would be very top of the pile.

I'm an Irishman living in Australia for many years but my sister lives in Jenkinstown Dundalk.

Every time I visit I hope I might run into one of The Corrs in a local pub, well no harm in dreaming!

Really hoping the Corrs might do a world tour in the next few years?

I'm thinking most of the band members are married now with families so it's probably very difficult to tour these days.

The Corrs are adored worldwide & especially here in Australia.

That raw fresh Irish sound which is so original comprising the fiddle, tin whistle etc. to the pure voice of Andrea, there is simply nothing else like it.

The entire Corr family are just so talented & when they combine the music they create together is just magic!

Please Corrs try to do a tour in the next 3 years? I seriously would go anywhere in the world to see you again in concert.

This was not just a Corrs concert. It was their first performance in 11 years!

We've been following them for years so when we heard that they were working on a new album and were expected to perform at BBC Radio 2 Live at Hyde Park we were very excited!

Before their set, a clip of their hit songs and some live footage was shown, getting cheers from the audience.

They played a 30 minutes set which included Breathless, Runaway, Dreams, What Can I Do, Radio and Toss The Feathers.

There were some technical problems during the first song and it was clear they were very nervous, but who could blame them! They probably weren't sure of the audience reaction but they really had nothing to worry about, as everyone was clapping, cheering and singing along. Runaway was a very emotional moment!

It was great to see them back on stage together and, if anyone is wondering, YES, they still got it!!

I had seen the Corrs live twice before but after a gap of 10 years and a rather subdued performance in Hyde Park (seen on TV) I was concerned that the family band may have lost their touch.

Seconds into the set I felt reassured and by the end I knew they are back, back, back.

There was an instant standing ovation from their first appearance on stage which continued throughout the set.(NB: if you like sitting get a banked seat)

A mix of fast, slow, new, old (plus the 'traditional section') would have pleased most fans.

The new album 'White Light' was given a fair hearing but sprinkled throughout.

The staging was also up to standard with projection and various light effects enhancing the music rather than being a distraction.

There was no escaping the warmth of affection between audience and the group and I was pleased to witness the first leg of the revival

The Corrs at Epsom Racecourse on a cold windy evening did not seem a promising prospect -any more than the 50-1 outsider that I backed, but how wrong I was. With the strong wind blowing into their faces the whole concert they were magnificent, even more polished than they were when they were last touring. They performed the best from their extensive back catalogue including all the hits plus their wonderful repertoire of traditional irish songs faultlessly, and a few new songs, I guess from their new album thrown in. Their one and a half hour concert just flew by and sadly the crowd were not granted 'more'. Despite contending the wind full on, the sound mix was excellent. If I was being a bit picky, maybe the vocals could have been a bit louder. If you liked the Corrs don't miss seeing them. You won't regret it. Forgiven for the break, and definitely not forgotten

Blenheim Palace 24th June. What can you say? Send out the ever popular Caroline to energise the crowd with a drum solo before launching into 'I do What I Like' . As always a rock based opening with well established favourites before slowing down to the 'Irish' and acoustic sections.Kiss of life and Ellis Island are becoming fan favourites. Andrea , delightfully, couldn't understand why the crowd laughed when she introduced Ellis Island as a song about immigration! We all joined in with Runaway, stood for Breathless and generally had a superb time.Only dampener was the band not being allowed to play 'toss the Feathers' as they reached the site curfew time.Shame on you BP.

I adore The Corrs and have every CD. Looking forward to their new CD release on Nov 10th! I’ve seen them in the states at the Jones Beach Concert Hall on LI, saw Sharon perform at the Bolton Center in Bayshore, NY, and again saw The Corrs at the Titanic in Belfast in 2016. Their beautiful lilting and uplifting music is a joy to listen to, and their stage presence is vibrant!

The Corrs Live in Manila Concert 2023

Hailed as the most successful “family band” to emerge from the late 90s (consisting of siblings Andrea Corr on lead vocals, violinist/pianist/vocalist Sharon Corr, drummer/vocalist Caroline Corr, and guitarist/vocalist Jim Corr) the group is scheduled to fly across the globe to personally deliver their smash hits “Breathless,” “Runaway,” “What Can I Do” and “All The Love in The World” to their legion of Pinoy followers who have since made the group’s songs the soundtrack to their lives, mainly due to The Corrs’ knack for incredibly sincere songwriting and well-crafted overall sound.

Officially formed in 1990 in Dundalk, County Louth Ireland, the group has released seven critically acclaimed studio albums (including their 1995 debut Forgiven, Not Forgotten and their 1997 followup Talk On Corners, their most successful album to date…), numerous singles, and have sold a whopping collective of 40 million albums worldwide. They have won 24 awards out of 48 nominations over their career, including a BRIT Award for ‘Best International Band’ in 1999 and two Grammy Award nominations in 2001 for the songs “Breathless” and “Rebel Heart.”

Aside from these accomplishments in the industry, the band and its members are also adored worldwide for their philanthropic activities – and have been cited for their efforts and contributions to various causes and charities, alongside the biggest artists in the world… all while preserving their deep connection to their fans worldwide.

Without a doubt, The Corrs’ decade-spanning career of producing numerous hit songs that have marked the hearts and lives of generations of music fans is something no one should miss; definitely, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for serious music fans to revisit a time when songs were made to be nothing short of excellent and endearing.

The Corrs return for Manila concert

(UPDATE) IRISH family band The Corrs have touched down in Manila for their two-day concert.

The Facebook page of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday night showed photos of siblings Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim Corr arriving in the airport's terminal 1 via Philippine Airlines Flight PR 540.

This is the band's first return to the Philippines after 22 years.

They had made the announcement back in March regarding their return.

The Philippines is The Corrs' first stop in their 3-country Asia Pacific tour that also included stops in Australia and New Zealand.

The Corrs, known for their songs "Runaway," "Breathless" and "All the Love in the World" are preparing for their two-day concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City over the weekend, on October 21 and 22, both at 8 p.m.

Also returning to Manila for a concert is British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, known for his songs "Perfect," "Photograph" and "Shape of You," the first time since 2018, Warner Music Philippines and Ovation Productions announced on Friday.

Sheeran included Manila in his Asian "+ - = ÷ x Tour" (also known as the "Mathematics Tour"), which consists of songs from all five of his albums, at the SMDC Grounds in Pasay City on March 9, 2024.

Joining him will be fellow British singer Calum Scott, known for his song, "You are the Reason."

Sheeran's Asian tour next year kicks off on Jan. 27, 2024, where he starts at Osaka, Japan.

Though he did not mention his tour dates on his social media platforms, he previously responded to a fan's question of an Asian tour last May in an Instagram story, saying it was going to be held "next year."

Tickets for the concert will be made available on October 26 at 12 p.m. via Ovation Productions and SM Tickets.

THE CORRS: REUNION

Formed in 1990 in Ireland, the group consists of the Corr siblings, Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim.

The Corrs had their career take off in 1991 when they auditioned for the musical film “The Commitments.”

During their career run, they have become greatly known for their chart-topping hits “Breathless,” “Runaway,” “All the Love in the World,” “What Can I Do,” “So Young,” among many others.

The Corrs took a break in 2006 to prioritize their families and individual music endeavors, resulting in two albums each for Andrea and Sharon.

After a hiatus of almost a decade, they made a comeback announcement in 2015. Later that year, they performed at Hyde Park in London in September.

The band also released their sixth studio album titled "White Light" in November of the same year. Their last group performance was in 2017.

In November 2022, the group announced that they are reuniting once again for a concert in Australia.

Live Review: The Corrs Down Under Tour Leaving Perth Breathless

RAC Arena  Perth on the 26th of October 2023

Review by  Sheldon Ang

Photography by  Sheldon Ang Photography

She slithers mellifluously across the stage, possessed by the sonic denominator and ruptures from the tri-colour army. The shimmering hues from above paint her picture, carving an angelic aura that personifies an alluring elegance. Drawn onto the energy of ten thousand, the singer then granualised her attention to a fan, who screams and returns gesture while recording her fleeting moment for the personal archives. Others vie for the singer’s attention. She reciprocates with a smile and casting those hypnotic eyes onto the smittened. Through the smokey air, she bends her knees and twirls like a ballerina under a summer rain, possessed by the bohemian rhapsody of Celtic and contemporary infusion. To her right, the violinist sister weaves her arms, hypnotically casting a quintessential classical sound and sight of her upbringing, entwining with the ferocious drums pummelled by the paradoxically graceful practitioner, as the gentle breeze billows the fine blonde frocks. The keyboard adds to the element of white, orange and green. Drenched by synchronised harmony over the infectious hook and rhythm promulgated by the foursome, the cheering fans of the world’s most isolated city are transported from the present conundrum of adulthood to the wonder years of post adolescent affirmation.

“We are a blend of modern rhythms and technology with acoustic instruments, violin, tin whistle, drums and of course the voices, the marrying of these instruments is our sound.”

The Corrs – a family-run business, is Irish after all. They are subject matter experts in music brewed from a festive, folksy demographics of cathartic shenanigans and unbridled revelry. With the universal language sipping through their veins, the four siblings have been composing a range of musical scores with uber dexterity, slithering through the pop culture across the high school years with melodic delight and harmonious synchronicity. In short, the distinctive fusion between traditional music and contemporary sounds have formed the base ingredients of irresistible classics, propelling the Irish powerhouse into the world charts.

Even though the Perth RAC Arena was invaded by the Corrs army – a scene akin to a football march to Croke Park, the night wasn’t just about The Corrs. Rather, the summery vibe of a festival-like atmosphere swept across the nostalgic field of ten thousand thanks to the super subs who are headliners in their own capacity.

As the golden hour kissed the RAC Arena, Germein , a trio of sisters from Adelaide sparked the evening of festivity. Georgia, Ella and Clara Germein did a lot more than just warming the stage with hits such as Good For A Girl that was filled with edgy guitar hooks and accompanied by ethereal harmonies. Their 30-minute set may have been a fleeting moment – but the three musicians have planted their name in Perth with cover such as My Island Home. Perthians will always welcome Germein with open arms.

A few minutes before twilight, Toni Childs , an Emmy winner, three-time Grammy nominee and now a Bryon Bay resident made herself at home by sitting the front centre of the stage. Her vocal engine was sparked by the smash hit I’ve Got To Go Now. Her bluesy, soulful vocals driven by those powerful grinding and grilling falsetto drew immediate reaction with utter silence among the audience. It was a shock and awe invasion, as she painfully lyrically narrated about a wife leaving her husband with her kids after a series of domestic violence through those rich throaty, funnelling personification. Stop Your Fussin’ followed as she stood in bare feet and greeted her band members, followed by House of Hope and Don’t Walk Away. Childs took to the floor, greeting the audience while firing her thunder struck vocals. The power, emotion and honesty were catapulting, drawing the audience closer to the stages through those distinctive voice that can only be Toni’s.   Toni Childs need to tour across Australia. She, herself was worth of the money spent.

The celebration continued with the ever so charming Natalie Imbruglia . It has been a quarter of a century since Torn, which sparked the album Left of the Middle, spreading her wings in the UK and Australia, reaching seven million copies worldwide, by far the best performing debut album by an Australian female artist. She gave Perth thirteen songs, sparking from What It Feels Like, Wished I Was There, Wrong Impression and Shiver – a solid start with the first four songs that were embedded in the commercial charts. Draped in a cute blue dress, Imbruglia was convivial as a lively adolescent, weaving her hair like a 90s rocker and spinning around like a love struck high schooler as she turned back the clock to the days of Barry Bissell and Take 40 Australia. What’s still apparent is the palpable sincerity oozed through her vocals, and the visceral compulsion sounding like the advice of a girl’s best friend who is wise and matured. At 48, her live vocals seemed to have manifested from life’s experience, and hardened to a rock star echelon – sharing its ferocity. The current live version of Torn has more grit and zest – with less emphasis on the the coming of age vulnerability – perhaps performing a retrospective observation of her twenty something self. She finished her set with Big Mistake – a track where she once again soared to the peak in those high falsetto and explosive crescendo.

Natalie Imbruglia is a lyrical narrator, sparking a reminder of our first love, the unrequited hurt, the coming of age cacophony, while drawing the audience into falling in love again with that girl in the music video with a domesticated setting.

Lights out.

So after three and a half hours since the golden hour, darkness set with the anticipation that could be felt from Dundalk.

The limelight was on Caroline – literally. She pummelled the drums with deadly ferocity, signalling the start of the Celtic party. Andrea, Sharon and Jim joined the stage. The Corrs commenced their set with a harmony of pop and soft rock in Only When I Sleep . Even after 25 years, Andrea Corr – lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, is still astro-travelling through a love struck fantasy, de-crystallising her heart and manifesting to reality. Alas, the visceral yearn is still embedded into the realms of her dream.

For many, the 1997 track from their second album Talk on Corners remains a one of their favourites. The harmonies were inexorably entwined. The recognisable introduction of rock-esque drums by Caroline and deep rich electric guitar by Jim was the perfect spark to the night.  The violin by Sharon cut through the arena and painted with the busking Dublin scene, fusing with the rock element of the rhythm section, culminating into a rich fusion of folk, Celtic and rock serenading the 10,000-strong fans.  The sonically charged number weaved enchantingly as the denominator for the breathy, airy tones of Andrea Corr. It was an explosive introduction.

The green pride swept the room throughout the night with traditional instrumental scores such as Erin Shore, before darkness swept with Forgiven, Not Forgotten – a track about taking one own’s life and leaving someone else behind.

Our parents considered moving to Australia, so I suppose, we could have come from here

There were moments of subtleness and poignancy, with Little Wing and No Frontiers – Jimmy McCarthy cover, where Caroline and Sharon took the mic in the latter. The heartfelt poignancy in their performance touched the nostalgic realms for so many, a moment of reflection casting over the entire Arena as they harmonised beautifully, instilling the violinist and drummer as world class vocalist. The fans stood in a worthy standing ovation.

It wasn’t surprising The Corrs have been influenced by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, dedicating their sentiment through the latest release.

We would like to dedicate to Christine McVie who passed away last year .

Any attempt to cover a Fleetwood Mac track is sacrilegious. But the band’s tribute to the late Christine McVie is a unique celebration, a respectful rendition with heavenly Irish delight of the violin. Dreams was the other dedication to the legendary band, a fast paced, dancing version which is also thr album title of their Ultimate Collection.

The Irish siblings cruised with a wet sail towards the end with back to back commercial hits with So Young, a song written by Andrea about their parents. They can thank their parents as thousands sang and dance to the world wide hit. It’s one of those songs where two words forming a chorus would stick in the hearts and minds of so many over the years. And so the crowd gave their shot in karaoke, even if that’s the only two words they knew. Listening to the crisp harmonies, up tempo melodic line live was uplifting. I Never Loved You Anyway drew close before the encore, as Andrea equipped with cynicism, driven by Celtic folklore and complete with tin whistle.

Runaway formed part of the encore – which became a moment of embrace and karaoke, as Andrea encouraged Perth to sing along at the introduced. The seminal piece was produced by the legendary David Foster, and the infusion of the strings and melody and harmony was a flowy soothing delight. Digital lighters lit up the arena like a thousand eyes in celebration of the airy, floating ballad, with the Cupid arrow striking the hearts of our younger selves again.

Breathless closed the night, a standout track among the standouts in The Corrs discography. The fusion of the silky smooth vocals of the guitar sliders and the violin was the perfect penultimate ending to the last performance of the traditional folk tune – Toss the Feathers – a dedication to Ireland though song and dance.

The Corrs announce Australian and New Zealand tour dates for 2023

Natalie Imbruglia will support across the band's first full-scale national tour in over 20 years

The Corrs band performing onstage

The Corrs have announced a tour for Australia and New Zealand, which will kick off towards the end of 2023.

The Irish band originally shared news of the tour to social media over the weekend (December 4). At the time, they revealed that the Australian run of shows would take place throughout October and November next year, and that they’d be joined on the tour by support acts Natalie Imbruglia , Toni Childs, and Germein. The cities on the tour were confirmed, but not the dates and venues themselves.

Today (December 7), the full itinerary of the Australian tour has been revealed – with information on their New Zealand tour reportedly “to follow”. It can be viewed below, along with an official announcement post from the Corrs’ social media:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Corrs (@thecorrsofficial)

A pre-sale run by the tour promoter, One World Entertainment, will take place on Monday December 12 from 9am local time. General sale will follow 24 hours later, at 9am local time on Tuesday December 13. Fans can sign up for information on the pre-sale here.

The announcement of The Corrs’ Australian tour comes just over a week after their one-off performance at Hunter Valley’s Hope Estate Winery. The show not only marked the band’s first Australian appearance since 2001, but their first show at all since 2017. They were joined at that gig by Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet , as well as Darlinghurst and Gaudion.

The Hunter Valley show was notable for its use of 500 programmed drones, which moved in sync with the final two songs of The Corrs’ setlist. Throughout the night, The Corrs played tracks from the full breadth of their discography, including their ARIA Top Ten singles ‘Runaway’ and ‘Breathless’.

Prior to that, The Corrs held a cocktail party in Sydney on November 25, where they were interviewed by entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, quizzed during an audience Q&A session and participated in meet-and-greet opportunities with fans.

The Corrs were formed in 1990 by the namesake Corr siblings: Sharon, Caroline, Jim and Andrea. The band’s first four albums during their initial run from 1990 to 2006 were particularly popular in Australia, with each being certified Platinum locally. The Corrs’ last studio album, ‘Jupiter Calling’, arrived in November 2017.

The Corrs’ 2023 Australian tour dates are:

OCTOBER Wednesday 25 – Perth, RAC Arena Saturday 28 – Bribie Island, Sandstone Point Hotel Sunday 29 – Sydney, Aware Super Theatre Tuesday 31 – Newcastle, Entertainment Centre

NOVEMBER Thursday 2 – Adelaide, Entertainment Centre Arena Saturday 4 – Launceston, UTAS Stadium Monday 6 – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
