If you are an Indian citizen planning to visit the stunning city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), you will need to apply for a tourist visa. Dubai offers a wealth of attractions, from towering skyscrapers to pristine beaches, making it a popular destination for tourists around the world. The process of applying for a Dubai tourist visa from India is relatively straightforward, but it is essential to follow the correct steps to ensure a smooth and successful application.

Dubai offers different types of tourist visas, including short-term visas for up to 30 days and long-term visas for up to 90 days. The specific visa you need will depend on the duration of your stay in Dubai, so it’s essential to plan your trip accordingly. Whether you’re planning a short vacation or an extended stay, this guide will walk you through the process of applying for a Dubai tourist visa from India.

It’s important to note that the visa application process may vary slightly depending on the specific requirements set by the UAE government and any updates or changes to the visa policies. Therefore, it is crucial to check the latest information on the official website of the UAE immigration authority or consult with a travel agent before proceeding with your application.

In the following sections, we will outline the step-by-step process of applying for a Dubai tourist visa from India, ensuring that you have all the information you need to successfully obtain your visa and embark on your memorable journey to Dubai.

Step 1: Gather the required documents

Before starting the application process for a Dubai tourist visa from India, it’s important to gather all the necessary documents. Having these documents ready will help streamline the application process and ensure that you meet all the requirements set by the UAE immigration authority. Here are the essential documents you will need:

  • Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of travel. Make sure your passport has blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Visa application form: You will need to complete the visa application form accurately and legibly. The form can be downloaded from the official website of the UAE immigration authority or obtained from a travel agent.
  • Passport-sized photographs: You will need recent passport-sized color photographs with a white background. Ensure that the photographs meet the specified size and quality requirements.
  • Proof of travel: You will be required to provide proof of your travel itinerary, including confirmed flight tickets and hotel reservations. Make sure your travel plans align with the duration of the visa you are applying for.
  • Proof of financial capability: You may need to provide proof of sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in Dubai. This can include bank statements, pay slips, or any other documents that demonstrate your financial stability.
  • Proof of accommodation: In addition to the travel itinerary, you may need to provide proof of accommodation in Dubai, such as hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from a host.
  • Medical certificate: Depending on the duration of your stay, you may be required to undergo a medical examination and obtain a medical certificate stating that you are in good health and free from contagious diseases.

It is important to note that these are the general requirements, and additional documents may be requested based on the specific circumstances of your application. It is always advisable to check the updated list of required documents on the official website or consult with a travel agent.

Once you have gathered all the necessary documents, make sure to keep them organized and readily accessible for the application process. This will help you complete the application smoothly and avoid any delays or complications.

Step 2: Fill out the visa application form

After gathering all the required documents, the next step in applying for a Dubai tourist visa from India is to fill out the visa application form. This form is an essential part of the application process and provides the UAE immigration authority with important information about your travel plans and personal details. Here are the key points to keep in mind when filling out the visa application form:

  • Accurate information: Ensure that all the information you provide on the application form is accurate and matches the details mentioned in your supporting documents. Any discrepancies or incorrect information may lead to delays or rejection of your visa application.
  • Legible handwriting: Fill out the form using clear and legible handwriting. If possible, use capital letters to ensure that the details are easy to read and understand.
  • Complete all sections: Make sure to complete all the required sections of the application form. Failure to fill out any necessary fields may result in the form being deemed incomplete and could delay the processing of your visa application.
  • Follow instructions: Pay close attention to the instructions provided with the application form. These instructions may include specific guidelines on photograph specifications, signature requirements, and any additional supporting documents that need to be included.
  • Review before submission: Before submitting the completed application form, thoroughly review all the information to ensure its accuracy. Double-check spellings, dates, and contact details for any errors or omissions.

It is essential to take your time when filling out the visa application form and ensure that all the information provided is correct. Any mistakes or inaccuracies could lead to complications in the visa application process. Additionally, it is advisable to keep a copy of the completed application form for your records.

Once you have filled out the visa application form accurately and completely, you are ready to move on to the next step: paying the visa fees. Make sure to have all the necessary documents and payment details ready before proceeding with the payment.

Step 3: Pay the visa fees

After completing the visa application form, the next step in the process of applying for a Dubai tourist visa from India is to pay the required visa fees. The visa fees vary depending on the type of visa and the duration of your stay in Dubai. Here are the key points to keep in mind when paying the visa fees:

  • Payment methods: Check the accepted payment methods for the visa fees. It is common to pay the fees online using a credit or debit card. Make sure you have a valid payment method available to complete the transaction.
  • Currency: Be aware of the currency in which the visa fees must be paid. Ensure you have the required amount in the specified currency to avoid any payment complications.
  • Fee calculation: Calculate the visa fees based on the type and duration of the visa you are applying for. Refer to the official website or consult with a travel agent to determine the exact fee amount.
  • Receipt and confirmation: After making the payment, ensure that you receive a payment receipt or confirmation. Keep this receipt as proof of payment, as you may need to submit it as part of your visa application.

It is important to note that visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether your visa application is approved or rejected. Therefore, make sure you fulfill all the necessary requirements and double-check your application before making the payment to avoid any unnecessary expenses or complications.

Here are some common reasons why a UAE visa application may be rejected:

  • Incomplete or Inaccurate Application: Ensure thorough completion of the application form, attaching all required documentation before submission. Any inaccuracies or omissions may lead to visa refusal.
  • Past Visa Violations: Previous breaches of UAE visa regulations, such as illegal employment or visa overstay, can result in visa denial.
  • Security Concerns: Visa applications may be rejected if immigration authorities have suspicions or concerns regarding an applicant's security background.

If your previous UAE E-visa application was denied, you have the option to reapply. However, it's crucial to understand the reasons for the initial rejection and address them before submitting a new application. Review any rejection notices or communications from UAE immigration authorities for specific feedback.

To avoid another rejection, ensure that your new application is error-free and meets all requirements.

Before reapplying for a UAE E-visa, gather the necessary documents:

  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your planned entry date into the UAE and has two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Provide a scanned copy of your passport's personal information page.
  • Have a credit/debit card or PayPal account ready to pay the Dubai tourist visa fees.
  • Use a current email address to receive your UAE E-visa.

When reapplying:

  • Address any issues: Correct any mistakes or deficiencies from your previous application. Make sure all required documents mentioned above are accurate and complete.
  • Provide additional information: If possible, include any extra details or documents that could strengthen your application.
  • Seek assistance if needed: If you're unsure about why your application was rejected or need guidance, consider reaching out to UAE Immigration Services for clarification or assistance before reapplying.

If your UAE e-visa application is rejected there isn't a formal process for appealing the decision. Typically, if your UAE e-visa is denied, you will receive notification outlining the reasons for the rejection. If you believe the denial occurred due to misinformation or an assessment error, you may consider reaching out to the UAE embassy or consulate for clarification and resolution.

Upon arrival at the UAE airport, it's important to follow these steps for a smooth and hassle-free experience:

  • Ensure Travel Documents are Ready: Have your passport and a valid UAE visit visa readily available for quick verification by immigration authorities. It's advisable to carry physical printouts of these documents or ensure they are easily accessible on your mobile device.
  • Understand UAE (Dubai) Regulations: Proceed to the customs area if you have items to declare or if your baggage requires inspection. Familiarise yourself with the UAE (Dubai) Customs Regulations , which offer information on various services, duty-free shopping options, and traveller facilities.
  • Follow Unaccompanied Minor Guidelines: If you are travelling as an unaccompanied minor, remain with your designated flight attendant for safety. Upon arrival, identify your assigned adult at the destination airport to ensure a secure transition.

In summary, this guide simplifies the process of obtaining a visa for Dubai. Simply follow the steps that align with your travel plans, and you'll soon be exploring the wonders of Dubai's captivating cityscape and rich culture.

Explained: Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa For Indians

In 2023, Dubai witnessed a remarkable 25% surge in overnight visitors from India.

Dubai has introduced a game-changer for Indian tourists with a newly launched five-year multiple-entry visa. Aimed at strengthening ties between India and the UAE, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has announced this initiative in response to the increasing influx of Indian visitors.

Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: What does it mean?

In 2023, Dubai witnessed a remarkable 25% surge in overnight visitors from India, solidifying its position as the leading source market. The five-year visa is strategically implemented to deepen economic collaborations, stimulate tourism, and fortify business relationships.

Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: How does it work?

This new visa lets tourists enter the UAE multiple times on their sponsorship. They can stay for 90 days initially, extendable once, totalling a maximum of 180 days within a year.

It is designed to suit various travel needs, facilitating easy connections for business or leisure purposes.

DET highlighted that with this initiative, tourists can benefit from multiple entries and exits, enhancing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity.

Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, emphasised the significant role of India in Dubai's tourism sector, contributing to record-breaking performance in inbound visitation in 2023, reported Economic Times.

He stated that India remains a key market for Dubai, playing an essential role in achieving the goals of the D33 Agenda and reinforcing Dubai's position as a hub for business, investment, and tourism.

Application Process:

To obtain the visa, applicants must meet certain criteria, including a bank balance of 4,000 USD, valid health insurance for the UAE, a round-trip ticket, and proof of stay in the UAE (hotel or residential address).

The application requires essential documents such as a coloured photo, passport copy, medical insurance, bank statement, tour program, and an onward journey ticket.

Issuing the Visa:

The process of issuing the visa involves either utilising digital channels (GDRFA website/smart application) or visiting a Customer Happiness Centre. Both methods involve filling the application, paying the necessary fees, and ensuring all conditions and documents are in order.

The visa adheres to specific terms and conditions, including possessing a valid passport or travel document, a return ticket, valid medical insurance in the UAE, and a bank statement showing a balance of 4,000 USD.

Dubai's 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa for Indians is a significant step towards fostering stronger bonds between the two nations and providing Indian tourists with an extended and flexible travel option to Dubai.

4 Easy-Peasy Ways to Get UAE/Dubai Tourist Visa from India

HOW TO GET DUBAI VISA FROM INDIA FROM EMIRATES, VFS, AGENTS & HOTELS

By Deb Pati last updated on November 1, 2020

Sharing is caring!

Dheeraj Asnani, a friend and colleague was the one to visit Dubai with an UAE visa and this article has been written with direct inputs from him.

Ok, just so that there is no confusion, I want to make a confession: there is no such thing as a Dubai tourist visa from India. It doesn’t exist. Dubai is a city in the country named UAE, and you get a visa for UAE, not Dubai.

However, since probably 99% of the people who visit UAE, would no doubt visit Dubai or at least make a stop there, it makes sense to call this Dubai tourist visa, rather than the right way to call it: Visit visa for UAE . And people who frequent Abu Dhabi, also refer it to as Abu Dhabi tourist visa.

So now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about my trip to Dubai.

Going to Dubai has been a dream for a long time. So now when my sister wanted to indulge in some wedding shopping in Dubai, this was the perfect opportunity. We had a great time in Dubai for more than a week or so, and I would definitely recommend you to visit it once.

tourist dubai visa from india

We all got the UAE tourist visa from India and the whole thing was super easy. The UAE tourist visa is an electronic authorization visa and it will not be stamped to your passport as a sticker. You will receive the UAE e visa as a PDF in your email. Here is how I got it and all the options you have.

Table of Contents

Where to Get Dubai Tourist Visa from India

Now, that’s the million-dollar question. Why? Coz’ the UAE embassy in India doesn’t issue tourist visas to Indians. Here is the screenshot from the official website.

tourist dubai visa from india

They quote a few different ways to get the visa :

A tourist visa for an Indian National, holding an ordinary passport, is arranged by a sponsor in UAE. It can also be obtained on booking a hotel in UAE or through the Emirates Airlines Office or the Air Arabia Office or through a Travel Agent in India.

Dubai Visa Requirements for Tourism

Uae visa application form.

A UAE visa application form can vary a little depending on who you are applying with. But apart from your personal details, you always would need to fill in:

  • The Particulars of Sponsor / Host in the UAE
  • Residence Address in UAE  (e.g., hotel, family or friend’s house, etc.)

Hotel Reservations in UAE

You don’t always have to have a hotel reservation in UAE before you go there. This will depend on your agent. Bit if you apply UAE visa through a hotel which will be your sponsor, then of course, you need to make a reservation.

Round-trip Flights to UAE

Roundtrip flight tickets to Dubai from India is a requirement for UAE visa for Indians. It doesn’t have to be a confirmed flight ticket. There are many ways to rent a flight itinerary for visa .

Financial Proof

You need to submit

  • Either last 2 Years Form 16 or last 2 Years Income Tax return
  • Bank statements to demonstrate a minimum gross income of INR 2 lakhs per annum from a business, profession or employment.
  • investments of at least INR 5 Lakhs or above, in form of fixed deposits in Banks or Post Office.

Visa Cover Letter

A visa cover letter is needed especially for 90 day visas. You need to write a letter mentioning the reason of travel, stay & host details and guarantee that you will leave Dubai within the visa validity period.

This letter also should contain two local contact details, staying in different address, as well as their Photo id cum Address proof.

Additional Requirements for Newly Married Couple:

In case of the spouse name is not there on the passport, a newly married couple would need to provide:

  • Marriage Certificate / Notarized Affidavit on an INR 100/- stamp paper
  • NOC from parents with photo id proof, Wedding card and Marriage photograph of the couple, if they are travelling immediately after marriage.

UAE Visa Requirements for Females

Females above 18 and below 25 years without accompanied application of either parents/relatives older than her will likely be rejected or in some instances will experience deferred visa approval.

They might require NOC from parents / husband, Photo ID of parents/ husband.

COVID Requirements for Dubai Visa

As part of the COVID-19 measures, you need to complete this  health declaration form  and give it to the staff at check-in. This form will also be available at check-in.

You will also need to complete the  quarantine undertaking form  given to you onboard if Dubai is your final destination. Hand this form to the Dubai Health Authority staff on arrival.

If you previously applied for a UAE visit visa but did not enter the country, then in order to get approval, the PRO of the applied travel agency or sponsor must go to the Immigration department to clear the previous U.A.E. visa application.

Different Ways to Apply for UAE Visa

So as I said before, there are many ways to apply for a visit visa for UAE. Here are those. The Dubai visa application process is different from that for other countries. In some cases, you can apply for UAE visa online and in some cases, you can’t. Although you receive the Dubai e Visa in electronic format only.

1. Apply for Dubai Visa via Sponsor/Agent

So I think the question here is where should you get it. And I believe the most cost-effective option is to get it through a travel agent. This is the option that I took, in order to get the cheapest Dubai tourist visa.

There are many travel agents who deal with this. Seriously so many. To do this, you can fill in the Dubai visa application form and then call them to ask about the payment. The Dubai visit visa price often changes. I paid 5000 INR for a 30 days UAE visa when I got it.

Some of the Dubai visa agents do need you to make hotel reservations with them in order to get a visa. Although many agents that it wouldn’t process the visa without any hotel reservations, that isn’t really the case.

How to get Dubai tourist visa from India

2. Apply for Emirates Dubai Visa

If you have booked your flight with Emirates, you can get a visa through Emirates online after your ticket is confirmed. It’s one of the fastest and sure-shot ways of getting a UAE tourist visa. The flight itinerary should include the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket, and these flights must be Emirates flights.  Using Emirates, you can get a point to point visa for 96 hours or tourist visas for 30/ 90 days. Once approved, the visa cannot be extended beyond the original period of stay.

You do need to pay the VFS global processing fees for this.

3. Air Arabia UAE Visa

Same goes for Fly Dubai. After you buy your flight tickets, you can contact the travel shops of Fly Dubai and get your visa processed through them. The advantage with Fly Dubai is that you can extend the visas you get through them, while with Emirates you can’t.

4. VFS Dubai Visa

You can apply for the UAE tourist visa from India through VFS Global as well. You can visit the nearest VFS Global application center and submit the documents there. They do require you to have your round-trip tickets from Emirates or Fly Dubai. Along with that, you would need to submit the bank statements, IT return, etc.

Types of UAE Visit Visa

A UAE visit visa can be any of the following.

Dubai Single Entry Visa

A single entry UAE visa can be issued for

Dubai Multiple Entry Visa

A UAE multiple entry visa can be issued for

Dubai Transit Visa

A UAE transit visa, while not technically a tourist visa allows you to be in UAE for point-to-point visits. This is not a Dubai airport transit visa per se.

Indians can transit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi airport without needing a visa if they have a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 24 hours. They must stay in the international transit area of the airport and have documents required for the next destination.

A Dubai transit visa( not Dubai airport transit visa) can be issued for

UAE Visa Fees for Tourism

The 30-day or 90-day UAE visas are really popular. The fees often vary as per the travel season & as per government directives. Different travel agents charge different prices as well.

As I mentioned above, the UAE 3 months visit visa and the one for 30 days come with multiple entry options as well. However, the Dubai visa cost almost double for multiple entries.

Dubai Visa on Arrival for Indian Passport with US Visa or UK Visa

Indian citizens  with U.S. visas or green cards can get Dubai visa on arrival. UAE visa on arrival is also available to Indians with U.K. or EU resident permits.

They can receive UAE entry visa or permit upon arrival to UAE valid for 14 days and can be extended it only once for a similar period.

The U.S. visa or green card or U.K Resident Permit or EU resident permit must be valid for at least six months, as well as your passport.

UAE Entry Permit/Dubai Entry Visa

The UAE entry permit is the Dubai visa on arrival that Indians can obtain with valid visas/residence permits from U.S, U.K. or EU.

Dubai entry permit cost

It will cost AED100, renewable for only one time at a cost of AED250.

Dubai Immigration

I booked round-trip flight tickets. In the Indian immigration, they asked me to show my return ticket and I promptly showed them. Although, I had confirmed tickets as my plans were all set, in case yours are not, you can always buy a refundable ticket from Orbitz.com or Expedia etc.

In Dubai, they simply asked for my passport and a copy of the Dubai e visa.

What Happens if I Overstay in Dubai on a Tourist Visa?

Overstaying your Dubai visa is a very serious matter. You will be fined AED 100 for every day you have overstayed. So in case you need to stay longer, simply apply for a Dubai visa extension.

Can You Work in Dubai With Tourist Visa?

No, you can’t. Dubai is not different from any other country in the world. As a rule of thumb, you can never work legally with a tourist visa anywhere in the world. Maybe some countries are a little lax about it, but trust me Dubai is not.

So if you want to work in UAE, you need to apply for a UAE Work Visa and Work Permit. Note that if you work in Dubai without authorization, you may end up paying a fine and get deported, even if they don’t pay you.

Okay to Board (OTB)

This important step in the travel process is often mandatory for travellers from various countries, including India. It's crucial to understand the 'Okay to Board' procedure to ensure your travel plans go smoothly. At StampThePassport, we're here to guide you through this process with ease.

What is 'Okay to Board'?

The 'Okay to Board' (OTB) is a verification process that ensures your visa status is valid and authentic before you board your flight. It is primarily applicable for Indian citizens travelling to certain countries, like the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. It is mandatory to get your 'Okay to Board' (OTB) updated by the same source where you obtained your visa.

Here's how it works: after you receive your visa, you must get an 'Okay to Board' status added to your flight booking. This status update serves as proof that you have a valid visa for your destination. Airlines in these countries require this before they allow you to board your flight. Failing to get 'Okay to Board' can result in denied boarding, disrupting your travel plans.

The 'Okay to Board' process is a vital step to ensure that your journey to these destinations is trouble-free. It adds an extra layer of security and confirmation to your travel plans, making certain that your visa is genuine and in order. So, when planning your trip to the UAE, Qatar, Oman, or Bahrain, be sure to consider the 'Okay to Board' requirement and update it alongside your visa application. StampThePassport is here to assist you throughout this procedure, making your travels to these incredible destinations as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Don't let the 'Okay to Board' process catch you by surprise, prepare in advance, and get ready to embark on your exciting journey to these remarkable countries.
