Holiday Booking

Extremely helpful lady who completed my booking. My only concern was when i looked on line it said hold luggage included with Sun Express, but was then told this changed 2 weeks ago. I did find this unsatisfactory as I should have been given the hold luggage included as stated on the website.

Accommodation change needed, or cancel accommodation

Easy to book but when you want to change accommodation, your told there's no availability, yet it can quite clearly be booked on their website, through booking.com and directly with the hotel. Had 1 bad holiday with travel Republic last year (2 ppl had food poisoning) do not want it again this year, waiting for an answer about accommodation, accommodation money due to be taken this Sunday,

Outstanding Customer Service

On our recent holiday booking to the Maldives, we had a near nightmare experience, when Gulf Air changed the flight time of our flight with less than 24 hrs notice. Which meant we would miss our connecting flight and thus a full day of our holiday not to mention the associated hassle of rebooking taxis, overnight hotels etc. At this point our holiday was rescued by the Travel Republic team, especially Ben in the flight change team, who worked tirelessly to sort out the mess and get us rebooked at very short notice on alternative flights with Emirates. What can I say!. Simply outstanding service. Many travel companies get slated for poor service but I can honestly say Travel Republic were brilliant and we will definitely use them in the future. Well done guys - you saved our holiday!

Great experience with customer service team

I’ve applied online for the new customer discount code, but it was emailed to me late. I’ve made a phone call and spoke to a very nice, helpful and efficient lady from customer service. She was happy to help me with a discount code and made booking online. She was really nice and could also feel confidence in her voice so I felt than my holiday booking is in a save hands.

Booked my hotel in Orlando through travel republic. So far the experience has been a positive one, we got the hotel at a great price (we booked in Jan for a 2 week stay in September) and a lady called Bethany was really helpful when I called them up to ask lots of questions about the hotel before I booked it!

Been booking my holidays with travel…

Been booking my holidays with travel republic for a few years now. Never had a problem apart from last year. We booked and paid for the coach to pick us up and drop us off. Our names were not on the coach list. Showed the lady the paperwork but she said our name was not on there. I phoned when I was at my hotel the next again day and the lady I spoke with said I had the wrong department and gave me another number which was a wrong or non existing number. Didn't chase it up when I got home as I couldnt be bothered. Now I don't pay for transfer. I would rather take a taxi to my accommodation. We were 2hrs late getting to our accommodation while trying to sort out our transfer.

Ease of booking. Slight problem when going to check in via Easyjet as instructions not clear However a call to Travel Republic resolved the issue after speaking to a very helpful young lady who I think was called Kelsey.

Travel Republic Limited is an online travel agency founded in the UK and launched in 2003. Travel Republic is owned by the air services provider, Dnata World Travel , which is a part of the Emirates Group . [1]

Travel Republic was founded in 2003 by university students Chris Waite, Paul Furner and Kane Pirie. [2] They desired to create a website where customers could book accommodation, flights, car transfers and airport parking in one place. The company specialises in enabling users to build their own holiday experience by combining different elements from the Travel Republic site. [3] [4]

Travel Republic is a travel search website acting as an agent only. The company is a member of ABTA [5] and holds an ATOL License [6] .

In January 2007 the company moved to its current headquarters in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. In the same year the company had an annual sales growth of 284.2% and topped the charts of The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 . [7]

In December 2011 the company was bought by Dnata World Travel which is a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, based in Dubai. [8]

In December 2015 Travel Republic launched a cruise service in partnership with Imagine Cruising . [9]

Operations & Technology [ edit ]

In January 2012, Travel Republic first introduced its mobile website, before expanding into mobile app on IOS in 2014. In 2015 the Android version of the app was launched.

The company aired its first YouTube ad on 17th January 2011 [10] . Their first television campaign 'The Last Click' aired in June 2014 [11] . With its success, Travel Republic continued to launch TV advertising campaigns. 'Welcome to the Travel Republic' was launched in January 2016 [12] before the latest campaign aired in December 2016 across UK and Ireland [13] . The campaign highlighted Travel Republic's slogan, 'Yours for the making'.

Controversy [ edit ]

In a case brought by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Travel Republic was accused of breaching ATOL regulations by selling unlicensed package holidays. Judge Nicholas Evans delivered the not-guilty verdict at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 10th November 2009. [14] In his judgement, Evans said the prosecution had failed to prove that Travel Republic did anything other than "sell components of holidays separately, but at the same time". [15] [16] '

No discount code received for signing up to newsletter, and despite my hotel booking being flexible and able to cancel 2 days before arrival, the confirmation email states that £20 fee will be levied if cancelled on same day of booking up to 2 days before arrival. A con.

Absolutely DisgracefulWe booked through Travel Republic to go…

We booked through Travel Republic to go to Mombasa to Douthern Palm Hotel in December 2023. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip as my uncle passed away in Nairobi. We informed Travel Republic a day before and they confirmed they would look into the refund or provide a voucher for future. We left it at that and on our return to London we contacted them to ask what was the outcome. At this point they said they had not been refunded and hence we cannot either get a refund nor a voucher. We had a contact at Southern Palm Hotel whom we contacted and they confirmed they had not been paid for our trip. We went back to Travel Republic and they said the booking was through 3rd Party and they were not refunded. The 3rd Party was their sister company. We will never use Travel Republic again for any bookings and will keep on passing our experience to as many people as we can. Absolutely disgraceful and no ethics at all.

Holiday Booking

Extremely helpful lady who completed my booking. My only concern was when i looked on line it said hold luggage included with Sun Express, but was then told this changed 2 weeks ago. I did find this unsatisfactory as I should have been given the hold luggage included as stated on the website.

Accommodation change needed, or cancel accommodation

Easy to book but when you want to change accommodation, your told there's no availability, yet it can quite clearly be booked on their website, through booking.com and directly with the hotel. Had 1 bad holiday with travel Republic last year (2 ppl had food poisoning) do not want it again this year, waiting for an answer about accommodation, accommodation money due to be taken this Sunday,

Outstanding Customer Service

On our recent holiday booking to the Maldives, we had a near nightmare experience, when Gulf Air changed the flight time of our flight with less than 24 hrs notice. Which meant we would miss our connecting flight and thus a full day of our holiday not to mention the associated hassle of rebooking taxis, overnight hotels etc. At this point our holiday was rescued by the Travel Republic team, especially Ben in the flight change team, who worked tirelessly to sort out the mess and get us rebooked at very short notice on alternative flights with Emirates. What can I say!. Simply outstanding service. Many travel companies get slated for poor service but I can honestly say Travel Republic were brilliant and we will definitely use them in the future. Well done guys - you saved our holiday!

Great experience with customer service team

I’ve applied online for the new customer discount code, but it was emailed to me late. I’ve made a phone call and spoke to a very nice, helpful and efficient lady from customer service. She was happy to help me with a discount code and made booking online. She was really nice and could also feel confidence in her voice so I felt than my holiday booking is in a save hands.

Booked my hotel in Orlando through travel republic. So far the experience has been a positive one, we got the hotel at a great price (we booked in Jan for a 2 week stay in September) and a lady called Bethany was really helpful when I called them up to ask lots of questions about the hotel before I booked it!

Been booking my holidays with travel…

Been booking my holidays with travel republic for a few years now. Never had a problem apart from last year. We booked and paid for the coach to pick us up and drop us off. Our names were not on the coach list. Showed the lady the paperwork but she said our name was not on there. I phoned when I was at my hotel the next again day and the lady I spoke with said I had the wrong department and gave me another number which was a wrong or non existing number. Didn't chase it up when I got home as I couldnt be bothered. Now I don't pay for transfer. I would rather take a taxi to my accommodation. We were 2hrs late getting to our accommodation while trying to sort out our transfer.

Ease of booking

Ease of booking. Slight problem when going to check in via Easyjet as instructions not clear However a call to Travel Republic resolved the issue after speaking to a very helpful young lady who I think was called Kelsey.
