Other locations will include Amble, Warkworth, Alnmouth and Bamburgh. After venturing off the beaten track through the stunning Hinterland of Northumberland and brushing some of the more remote locations featured on Vera.

During this full day Vera tour you will get to visit more than 15 actual locations from episodes all the way through ten years of Vera. Throughout the Vera tour there will be opportunities to get on and off the coach and see some locations up close with plenty of opportunities to take photos.

Our guide was the incredibly enthusiastic Fran and in capable safe hands with driver Bryn. I would say to anyone who hasn't watched Vera this is also a good tour for you as there is lots of information about the locality also not relating to Vera. History of Newcastle, shipyards, first lightbulbs, museums etc. We learnt so much. The coach was on time, immaculate - in fact never seen a coaches windows so clean. Around Newcastle up to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, pass Seaton Delval Hall, the coast etc. It was just wonderful we enjoyed it immensely. There were people from all over on the tour, America, Australia etc and also all ages. Thank you to Fran, the enthusiasm, the knowledge, the well researched facts. This tour was full and a lot of people going on the full day tour the following day. She then went on to outline what we could expect from our tour There was plenty of Vera related information throughout the tour interspersed with clips from the TV series that tied in with where we were at the time. Fran was an enthusiastic & entertaining guide who included information about the area in general alongside the Vera related information. This all added to the experience. There were stops along the way where we could leave the coach & get a drink/ice cream if we wanted to. We had a very enjoyable trip which even my husband, who isn’t a stalwart Vera fan, enjoyed. Josh was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic leader and Bryn navigated the route expertly in the full size coach. The 8 hour trip visits Vera’s home on the Holy Isle which is much further away from Newcastle than we went, but it apparently doesn’t visit all the spots we did. Well recommended. Upon arrival in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne, you’ll board a coach which will take you to over ten filming locations for the Vera Half-Day Tour of Newcastle Locations. DCI Vera Stanhope’s Police Station was set and filmed in Newcastle, vastly changing the City’s reputation being known for its industrial environment. A raft of gruesome murders took place across some of Northumberland’s beachside areas, and parts of the tour include great views of these crime-scenes.

Vera fans will indulge in some of the most memorable scenes from the shows well-known episodes such as A certain Samaritan, Changing Tides, The Prodigal Son, Shadows in the Sky, Castles in the Air and Death of a Family Man. Spanning a total of nine seasons (with a tenth on the way), even the most dedicated fans won’t realise how many of the same locations were re-used for various scenes across the series.

Visit the filming location of the Shadows in the Sky episode where the victim plunges from the peak of a multi-storey car-park. Explore the area from Death of a Family Man where the body was recovered after it was discovered in the Tyne. You might also like to view where The Sea Glass scene was filmed showcasing the fishing trawler with a corpse waiting to be found.

You will get several photo opportunities throughout the tour to leave the coach and get a closer look at where each scene was filmed.

On Monday, April 8, the sky will momentarily darken for millions of Americans in the path of totality during the 2024 solar eclipse .

This is the first total solar eclipse to pass through North America in seven years, and the next one will not be seen from the contiguous U.S. until Aug. 23, 2044 , according to NASA .

The exact time the solar eclipse will occur will vary, depending on the state and the time zone. And of course, eclipse visibility will also be dependent on Monday's weather .

Whether you're experiencing the path of totality from home or traveling to witness it in person, here's what to expect for the exact eclipse time.

What time is the 2024 solar eclipse?

The eclipse will begin in Mexico at about 11:07 a.m. PDT, Monday, April 8 before crossing into Texas at 1:27 p.m. CDT. It will end in Maine at 3:35 p.m. EDT. Even if you're not in the path of totality and won't see the full eclipse, you may still see a percentage of it.

To find out exactly when the eclipse will be happening in your area, you can search by USA TODAY's database by zip code for a viewing guide.

Even if you still see a fraction of the eclipse, you can use the database to search the time, duration, peak and percentage in your area.

Where is the 2024 total solar eclipse?

The eclipse begins in Mexico , and then crosses over into the U.S. through Texas. From there, the path of totality, which is approximately 115 miles wide, extends northeast, crossing through 13 states. In the U.S., totality will end in Maine, but the eclipse will eventually enter the maritime provinces of Canada.

Other major cities along the eclipse's path of totality include San Antonio and Austin, Texas; Indianapolis; and Rochester and Syracuse, New York.

In case you’re wondering, there are three notable solar eclipses viewable from the U.S., and two of them happened already: the Great American Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21, 2017 , the Great American Eclipse or “ring of fire” that occurred Oct. 14, 2023, and now the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024 . Florida was not in the path of totality for any of these. However, and this will be true for the April 2024 eclipse, skywatchers from hundreds of miles outside the path were still able to see a partial solar eclipse from the 2017 and 2023 astrological events.

Can Great American Eclipse, Total Solar Eclipse 2024 be seen in Florida?

Though Florida is not in the path of totality for the April 8, 2024, Total Solar Eclipse, the eclipse can still be seen via protective solar eclipse glasses, shadows on the ground or other creative (and safe) means.

In Florida, it's referred to as a partial solar eclipse, which starts at 12:35 p.m. CDT through 4:20 p.m. EDT Monday, April 8, 2024,  according to timeanddate.com .

What time can I see 2024 solar eclipse in Florida?

Weather permitting, to see all phases of the total solar eclipse, you must be within the path of totality. According to a map on  greatamericaneclipse.com , the U.S. path of totality for the Monday, April 8, 2024, eclipse covers parts of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The total eclipse will not be visible from Florida — unless you watch it virtually from a livestream.

In the U.S., totality will begin in Texas at 1:27 p.m. CT and will end in Maine at 3:35 p.m. ET on April 8, 2024. The state of Florida should have a 45% to 75% chance of "maximum partial eclipse," according to Great American Eclipse online. Expect to see a thin crescent shape to a thicker crescent shape.
