About Børns

Garrett Clark Borns (born January 7, 1992), better known by his stage name Børns (stylized as BØRNS ), is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.

Born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan, Borns began performing in his youth. In 2012, he released his debut album, A Dream Between , through REZidual Records. His first major label release was the Candy EP (2014), through Geffen and Interscope. The EP peaked at number two on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The Dopamine tour followed, preceding his debut studio album of the same name in 2015. The album was a commercial success, peaking at number 24 in the US and generating numerous singles include the platinum-certified, "Electric Love". Børns then embarked on tours with artists including Charli XCX, Bleachers, and Halsey, as a supporting act, along with a set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2016. His sophomore album, Blue Madonna , was released on January 12, 2018. The record spawned several singles, including "God Save Our Young Blood" with Lana Del Rey, which charted on the US rock chart. To further promote the LP, he headlined the Money Man Tour (2017–18) and supported Del Rey on her LA to the Moon Tour.

Born of Osiris is an American ‘deathcore’ band that formed in 2003 in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois in Palatine.

Born of Osiris, who take their name from the Egyptian deity Osiris and the tale of his son Horus, became a part of the Northland Chicago metalcore scene alongside Veil of Maya, Monsters, Oceano and For All I Am, all of which are now signed bands. The band successfully signed to Sumerian Records and released three full-length studio albums and two EPs on this label to date. They are made up of Ronnie Canizaro on lead vocals, Joe Buras on vocals, keyboards, synthesizer and programming, Lee McKinney on guitar, David Darocha on bass guitar and Cameron Losch on drums and percussion.

They have had considerable chart success across their career, with their first full-length album, “A Higher Place” released on July 7th 2009, which reached #73 on the US Billboard 200 Chart and #8 on the US Top Independent Albums Chart, selling over 6,000 copies. Their second full-length album, “The Discovery, was released on March 22nd 2011, and debuted at #87 on the Billboard 200. They released two singles from this album, “Recreate” and “Follow the Signs”. This album also made it to #6 on the US Billboard Hard Rock Albums.

Born of Osiris is one of those bands that tour relentlessly having played an array of festivals including the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2008 and 2009 and the Music as a Weapon Tour. They embarked on a co-headline tour dubbed The Night of the Living Shred tour with All Shall Perish, After the Burial, Caliban and Suffokate. They have supported bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Unearth and Hate Eternal.

The was a video posted of the guitarist Lee McKinney rehearsing over a riff which is rumoured to be a driving component in a song that will feature on a future release. He also had an 8-string guitar custom made for him by the UK guitar company Invictus, suggesting a change in musical direction, and it did in the form of an album called “Tomorrow We Die ∆live” which was their most successful album yet making it to number 27 on the Billboard 200, selling 13,052 copies in the first week.

Heavy hardcore prog-metallers Born Of Osiris have been making tidal waves on the metal scene of late, following the release of their second full-length album ‘Discovery’ in 2011. Their brutal-to-the-ears style is offset by obliteratingly hard-hitting guitar riffs and prog-y keyboard additions, which play a large part in their sound- making the American sextet an excellent touring choice to warm up the crowds for huge bands like Hatebreed, Cannibal Corpse and Hate Eternal. The Sumerian Records-signed bunch are also veterans of the US Summer Slaughter tour, which they played in 2008 and 2009. After a few line-up changes and the unceremonious firing of guitarist Jason Richardson following the release of ‘Discovery’, Born Of Osiris still deliver the goods as a live act, with blistering riffs, incredibly tight drum solos, and impassioned screamo lyrics from vocalist Ronnie Canizaro galore. When I saw them a couple of years ago on their epic UK tour with labelmates Veil of Maya and The Faceless, the night was an absolute blast. Moshpits abounded for Born Of Osiris’ set, and the charismatic Canizaro kept the energy high throughout and had the whole crowd pummeling their feet and screaming for an encore. Their keyboard-and-guitar-driven approach to progressive metal, as well as their enduring energy onstage, makes a Born Of Osiris gig brutally enjoyable from start to finish. An awesome live show!

Best show I've been to in years! Born Of Osiris never disappoints. I remember seeing them years ago in Jacksonville, Florida when they just got signed and they brought me and my friends to their van and showed us tracks (without vocals) of The Discovery. Also, I didn't know it at the time, but they introduced me to After the Burial's glorious music. They played ATB's song Pi and my life was changed. I never looked at music the same. Mathematical, polyrhythmic time signatures is the best thing that's happened to metal in my opinion, and ATB nailed it. Fun fact about After the Burial: when they were just getting started (after their self released album) they played in my old guitarists basement in Winston Salem, North Carolina! Incredibly tiny world we live in. I don't have any stories about Veil Of Maya, but watching their drummer makes me feel like I'm on an hallucinogen... any hallucinogen. Anyway, I hope one of the band's actually read this. And if either of them remember the stories I typed, let me know! Or add me on Facebook or something.

Born of Osiris are the quintessential death core rock band: their very name pertains to this, as they take their name from the legend of the Egyptian God Osiris, lord of the Underworld, and his hawk headed son Horus. The myth is brutal and murderous, a tale of murder and of restoration. A tale that, brilliantly, summarises the band’s style and very essence. Born of Osiris have been successful on the heavy metal scene for over a decade now, amassing a huge number of fans as they have made their mark on the metal scene. Or, rather, hammered their mark on the scene. Their music is brutal and powerful, combining heavy guitar riffs and passionate lyrics. The energy they create at their concerts is out of this world, and it is never long before the crowd form a crazy mosh pit in true metal spirit, conveying their love for the band and expressing the madness induced by such a powerful, heavy and hard core set of metal head rockers. A must see.

This show was awesome even with the two stoppages that Born had to take one due to a technical issue with the sound and the other being someone getting injured in the pit. The person was ok and the show went on all the bands did great tho and the most memorable moment for me and probably the crowd was when after the burial came out and talked aboutnthe struggles they went thru in the past year with the passing of one of their guitarists justin lowe and how thankful they were for the support from all of us their fans. I will never forget the show i seen them play beofre justin played and now this ranks up there with them based soley on the fact of how emotional their setlist was. Ten ot of ten i will go see them again.

That performance was amazing. I've been a fan of all the bands there for some time now and hearing them live and moving to the music was a great feeling. I've seen all of them live before except Bad Omens and Veil of Maya, but the entire show kept me on my toes and I'm definitely seeing them all again. I need another Sumerian tour, hopefully next time with Periphery... :3

I saw boo at warehouse live it was about the 6th time I've seen them and they put on a hell of a show. They played with the devil wears prada who killed it too. Though the venues sound management could have been WAY better thats not the boo's fault I fucking love them and will see them again in a heartbeat.

An amazing show nice to see and hear everything at a smaller than usual venue for this band. The venue was was nice BOO is amazing, the drummer is outstanding. Enjoyed wathing Cameron on the drums his speed and precision it incredible.

The show at the Gramercy theater in New York was awesome. I do however think that Chelsea Grin was the best band there last night. The other bands were great as well but Chelsea Grin put on one hell of a show!

Among the headline names are Missy Elliott, who is heading out on her first-ever North American tour with Ciara, Busta Rhymes, and Timbaland in tow. There’s an indie extravaganza from Pixies, Modest Mouse, and Cat Power; the poetically pleasing joint tour from Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett; Bob Dylan’s final year of Rough & Rowdy Ways dates; and Adele’s belated conclusion of her Vegas residency (before she moves the operation to that other locus of showbiz opulence: suburban Munich). You can also catch Dead & Company for the last time ever—no, really this time—at the Las Vegas Sphere, plus Adrianne Lenker, Alvvays, Mitski, Janet Jackson, St. Vincent, Megan Thee Stallion, and dozens more—dive in below.

Big Thief leader Adrianna Lenker will embark on a tour to support her latest solo album, Bright Future , this summer. Following a performance at Knoxville at the Big Ears Festival this month, the dates kick off in Dublin and will take Lenker through Europe and North America, including stops in Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Boston, and more. The summer and fall tour will see opening performances from Ellie O’Neill, Twain, Steve Fisher, and Suzanne Vallie, plus Nick Hakim, who co-produced Bright Future .

Alanis Morissette will spend the summer touring North America with noteworthy companions Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and country singer Morgan Wade. The Triple Moon Tour begins in June in Phoenix, Arizona, and wraps up with a final show in August in Inglewood, California. Morissette is also the Sunday night headliner of Pitchfork Music Festival 2024 , on July 21, at Chicago’s Union Park.

Before heading to Europe for the summer, Alvvays will spend the spring touring the United States. A second U.S. leg follows in August, and they’ll be accompanied by Auckland band the Beths . Their final show, featuring Mitski , will take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion, on August 31.

Amen Dunes will follow his July 19 performance at Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival with summer concerts in the United States and Canada. He’ll be playing the shows in support of new album Death Jokes .

Angel Olsen

In September, Angel Olsen will play solo shows in smaller American cities. She’ll also be playing deep cuts from her catalog that might not get as much shine at live shows. Joining Olsen for support on the Songs From the Archive Tour are Maxim Ludwig, Runo Plum, Kyle Ryan, and Greg Mendez.

Turns out 2022’s El Último Tour del Mundo wasn’t actually Bad Bunny’s last world tour. The Puerto Rican superstar is back on the road for the Most Wanted North American tour, in support of his October 2023 album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana . The run began in February in Salt Lake City and concludes in May with three consecutive nights at Miami’s Kaseya Center. So far, the four-act show has surprised fans with guest artists like Young Miko, Bryant Myers, and Mora.

Belle and Sebastian

Belle and Sebastian had been due to tour shortly after releasing Late Developers in early 2023, but canceled when bandleader Stuart Murdoch ran into health issues . The rescheduled dates are now in the diary, with shows up and down North America supported by Haley Heynderickx or the Weather Station.

Bikini Kill

Punk icons Bikini Kill will hit the road starting this summer for a North American tour. It will follow the release of lead singer Kathleen Hanna’s memoir, Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk , which hits shelves in May. The tour begins in Los Angeles this August and includes stops in San Francisco, Toronto, Brooklyn, and more, with support from Comet Gain, Big Joanie, Tropical Fuck Storm, Snoozers, and R.Aggs.

Since announcing his Madison Square Garden residency in December 2013, Billy Joel has kept it a steady engagement, only taking off 18 months for the pandemic. This year marks the end of Joel’s franchise with the venue, concluding with his 150th show on July 25. While the residency is coming to a close, Joel has no plans to retire, heading off to Cardiff for his one European show this year with Chris Isaak , followed by a series of U.S. shows with legends Sting and Rod Stewart . For one night only, he will also be joined by Stevie Nicks at Chicago’s Soldier Field on June 21.

Jack Antonoff was busy in 2023—getting married and producing albums from Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift —and he’s showed no signs of slowing down for 2024. His band, Bleachers , released a self-titled album in March, and he also produced the soundtrack for the first season of Apple TV+’s The New Look . And, after performing both weekends at the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival , he and Bleachers will tour the country with Samia as an opener, perform at the Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo and Osaka, then head to Europe for a series of shows—before closing out the year with a soldout show in Madison Square Garden on October 4.

The biggest pop-punk reunion of last year is ready to keep the momentum going into 2024. Blink-182 ’s classic trio—Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge—will bring One More Time... , their first new album together since 2011’s Neighborhoods , to the live stage for an extensive world tour . After kicking things off last month in Australia, Blink-182 will continue making their way across the globe, playing in South America, North America, and Europe nearly every month until the fall. Opening select shows are Rise Against, Pierce the Veil, Alexisonfire, and the Story So Far. Expect foul-mouthed banter, heavy nostalgia, and one massive reminder not to take yourself too seriously.

Bob Dylan was 80 when he started to tour behind 2020’s Rough and Rowdy Ways . Now 82, the revered bard is still celebrating his latest studio album with shows around the globe. With his latest round of dates spanning this spring, Dylan has been billing 2024 as the final year of the trek. And, in June, he will also accompany Willie Nelson & Family for their Outlaw Music Festival Tour ; the three-month run, which concludes on September 17 in Buffalo’s Darien Lake Amphitheater, will feature additional notable guests like Robert Plant & Alison Krauss , John Mellencamp , and Celisse.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

The Boss and his band are back on the open road, with the peptic ulcer disease that forced him to postpone several 2023 dates in the rearview mirror. Having returned in March, Springsteen brought the formidable show across the United States all spring—with dates including two headline shows at London’s Wembley Stadium—before dipping into Europe and concluding with more North American stops later in the year.

Built to Spill

Built to Spill released their influential second studio album, There’s Nothing Wrong With Love , back in 1994. To celebrate the indie-rock touchstone’s 30th anniversary this year, the band will perform it in full on a series of dates starting this summer through the fall. The dates begin in Boise—where Built to Spill originally formed—and will take the trio through Portland, Chicago, New York, and more major cities before wrapping up in Sacramento in September. The group will be joined by John McMahon, who tracked cello on the original recording of There’s Nothing Wrong With Love .

Charli XCX / Troye Sivan

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan famously have two big songs together, “ 1999 ” and “ 2099 ,” and they’re adding to their collaborative history with a joint tour called Charli XCX & Troye Sivan Present: Sweat Tour. The shows take place across North America in September and October.

Dead & Company

For six weekends this spring, Dead & Company will return to the stage for a set of shows called Dead Forever at the Sphere in Las Vegas, set to feature “never-before-seen visual storytelling” using the venue’s enormous LED screen. The dates follow the band’s purported final tour last year, so this may be the final chance you have to catch the long-standing rock band.

The Decemberists

The Decemberists will hit the road for a lengthy tour in support of their forthcoming ninth album, As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again . The iconic Pacific Northwest indie rock band’s Peaceable Kingdom tour will see support from Chicago rock group Ratboys as well as Seattle folk group the Head and the Heart. Expect to see performances of songs like the 19-minute prog track “ Joan in the Garden ,” taken from the new LP.

Diiv will kick off a North American tour behind their first new album in five years, Frog in Boiling Water , starting this summer. The dates begin in Santa Cruz and will take the rock band through major cities in the United States and Canada, including Seattle, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Toronto, and more. Various artists are lined up as openers throughout the tour, including Sasami, Horse Jumper of Love, and Trauma Ray.

Foo Fighters

It’s going to be a busy summer in 2024 for Foo Fighters . Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, and new drummer Josh Freese have some May shows lined up in the South before heading to the United Kingdom in June, and, then, in July, they’ll be performing at Poland’s Open’er Festival, Denmark’s Roskilde, and Belgium’s Rock Werchter. It doesn’t end there—for the rest of the summer, they’ll be hitting stadiums and ballparks across the United States, wrapping up in Seattle’s T-Mobile Park on August 18. They’ll be joined by an array of support acts, including Alex G , the Pretenders , Amyl and the Sniffers , L7 , and more. The band’s latest album, But Here We Are , arrived last summer.

Future / Metro Boomin

Future and Metro Boomin have released two collaborative albums this year— We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You —and they’re going to stick together when they begin the We Trust You Tour in the summer. When Green Day heads out on tour this year, the band will bring no shortage of support along. Joining the band on a series of European dates kicking off on May 30 in Monte do Gozo, Spain, are the Interrupters, Donots, the Hives , Nothing but Thieves, and Maid of Ace. After that, Green Day will tour North America with support from the Smashing Pumpkins , Rancid , and the Linda Lindas . The U.S. leg wraps up on September 28 in San Diego’s Petco Park, and, then, the band will head to South Africa for two stadium shows, featuring performances from the Offspring and Fokofpolisiekar. Green Day are on the road in support of their latest album Saviors (plus the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot ).

Hotline TNT

Since October of last year, Brooklyn-based shoegazers Hotline TNT have been on the road in promotion of their album, Cartwheel . With the North American leg now behind them, they’re now gearing up for a European tour, which will conclude in August. Fans in Spain can anticipate three shows alongside Barcelona’s very own Heal. The band is also scheduled to perform at both the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York and Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.

Idles have so many shows in support of new album Tangk . Fresh off their European stint in March, the band is gearing up for their North American shows this May. June brings Idles back to Europe for a couple of performances before they return to the United States for September. But it doesn’t end there—catch Idles touring Mexico and Europe (again) to cap off 2024 before they kick off the new year with shows in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.

Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam has planned an extensive summer tour behind his upcoming album, Light Verse , the indie-folk artist’s first LP since 2017, which features contributions from Fiona Apple, keyboardist Tyler Chester, bassist Sebastian Steinberg, guitarist David Garza, violinist Paul Cartwright, and percussionists Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, and Kyle Crane. The set of dates starts in June in Milwaukee and will take Beam through North America, with two nights in Portland and Los Angeles and further stops in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, and more.

Janet Jackson

Last year, Janet Jackson began her career-spanning Together Again Tour with opener Ludacris; now, the legendary pop star has enlisted Nelly to open the upcoming leg. Following a three-night opening run in Hawaii and a few dates in Japan and the Philippines, Jackson will then travel across North America through June and July, bringing her timeless pop-R&B and tenacious dance routines to cities like Chicago, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Toronto, and many more.

Jennifer Lopez

If her latest album This Is Me…Now , movie musical This Is Me…Now: A Love Story , and documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told didn’t satisfy your annual dose of Jennifer Lopez , you’re in luck, she’s also going on tour. Returning to the road for the first time since 2019, Lopez kicks off her tour in June in Orlando, closing out in Houston at the end of the summer.

French duo Justice are readying Hyperdrama , their first new LP in nearly eight years. After dropping it on April 26, Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé will continue their current tour , stopping off at cities in Mexico, Spain, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium. Their last concert on schedule is the Festival Cabaret Vert in the picturesque French commune of Charleville-Mézières on August 17.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake ’s Forget Tomorrow World Tour, his first in five years, kicks off in Vancouver on April 29, wrapping up in Indianapolis on December 16. Coinciding with the tour, Timberlake dropped his sixth solo album, Everything I Thought It Was —his return after 2018’s Man of the Woods .

Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves kicks off her Deeper Well Tour this spring, hitting Europe with supporting act Madi Diaz . In September, the Texas-born artist begins the three-month U.S. leg in State College, Pennsylvania, concluding with two-nighters in Nashville. The North American shows will feature support acts Father John Misty , Lord Huron , and Nickel Creek .

Psych-pop revivalists Khruangbin kicked off their latest tour with a performance at this year’s Coachella in April, and they’ll be trekking across North America and Europe for the rest of the year. The Houston trio, supporting new album A la Sala , has also tapped Hermanos Gutiérrez, John Carroll Kirby, Peter Cat Recording Co., Men I Trust, and Arooj Aftab as openers.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

The beloved and prolific Australian weirdos King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are touring a lot this year in support of their latest album, The Silver Chord . After a successful string of March festival dates in South America, the band has dates slated for May with Grace Cummings across the United Kingdom and Europe. Then, the group will head to North America for shows in August, September, and November. Crowds in Forest Hills, New York, on August 17; Chicago, Illinois, on September 1; Quincy, Washington, on September 14; and Austin, Texas, on November 15 are also getting the band’s famous three-hour “marathon shows.”

LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem will hit the stage again with a new string of dates they’ve dubbed the Kinda Tour. The James Murphy–led dance-pop outfit will begin the tour in Guadalajara before traveling to Bend, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Chicago, Illinois. Later in the summer, LCD Soundsystem will also hit the road in the United Kingdom and Europe for select dates.

After being hospitalized for a severe bacterial infection last year, Madonna made a full recovery, in a turn she has referred to as “ a fucking miracle .” As a result, the pop legend finally kicked off the initial leg of her rescheduled Celebration Tour last October. After a stretch of dates in England and Europe, Madonna brought her career-spanning show to North America, where she continued with dates in Toronto, Detroit, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas, Inglewood, Houston, Miami, and more until spring. She’s wrapping things up with a batch of concerts in Mexico City, before ending the tour with a free show in Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on May 4.

Maggie Rogers

Singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers will embark on a tour behind her new album, Don’t Forget Me , starting this May with support from indie-pop artist the Japanese House. Starting in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rogers will play songs from the new LP in Cincinnati, Phoenix, San Diego, Milwaukee, and more North American cities. The singer will also hit the Lovin’ Life and Bonnaroo festivals on the way before she joins Coldplay to open a set of dates in Europe in late summer.

Maxwell and Jazmine Sullivan are reuniting for a joint tour, following their 2008 run of dates together. The Maxwell-headlining Serenade Tour features opener October London, and gets started in Hollywood, Florida, on September 14. Maxwell and Sullivan will then wind through Tampa, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, New Orleans, Oakland, and more, before wrapping up in Inglewood on October 27. The tour follows Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise , a four-night ocean cruise that spanned February 10-14 of this year. Maxwell brought Robert Glasper, Ledisi, Gallant, Sabrina Claudio, Musiq Soulchild, and Leela James aboard for that event.

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion has had a monopoly on “ Hot Girl Summer ” for the past five years; she even trademarked the phrase in 2022. As the weather warms up in May, she’ll kick off the Hot Girl Summer Tour, a two month trek featuring support from Memphis rapper Glorilla . Megan will wind through the Midwest and Northeast before stopping over in cities down South and on the West Coast. After a few gigs in Europe and the United Kingdom, Megan will wrap up the tour in Washington, D.C., on July 27. Hotties welcome.

The crowd who spent a mid-July weekend watching Earl Sweatshirt , Noname , and more perform for free in Brooklyn at MIKE’s Young World festival in 2023 got a front-row seat to the rapper’s caring curation and accessible live experience. This year, MIKE took that energy on the road in support of his most recent solo album, Burning Desire . The Somebody Fine Me Trouble Tour began in Europe last February, before kicking off a U.S. leg in Philadelphia in April. MIKE will close things out with a hometown show at New York’s Webster Hall on May 25.

Militarie Gun

The hardest working touring band in post-hardcore is dead set on maintaining that title in 2024. Los Angeles’ Militarie Gun started this year on the road for their North American headlining tour and won’t park the van until they’re done with their ever-expanding tour by the fall. They’re bringing Life Under the Gun , their long-awaited debut album, to life at venues and festival stages alike, with performances at Primavera Sound, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, End of the Road, and Aftershock, plus additional music festivals scattered throughout this summer.

Missy Elliott

For the first time in her long and legendary career, Missy Elliott will embark on a headlining tour of North America . Elliott is taking some friends along with her, including Ciara, Busta Rhymes, and Timbaland. Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience will open on July 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and then visit Seattle, Oakland, Las Vegas, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and more spots, before Elliott closes things out in Rosemont, Illinois, on August 22. Upon announcing the tour, Elliott confessed: “I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family!”

She may not be an outspoken artist online, but, behind the scenes, Mitski is making every word count. While TikTok was busy fawning over “ My Love Mine All Mine ,” Mitski was putting in the work to find a music venue that offers fair merch rates while still booking a place big enough to house her sizable fandom at each stop. The result of her efforts is a North American tour with multiple nights at theaters around the country in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We . Joining her along the way are openers Tamino, Sunny War, Julia Jacklin, and Sarah Kinsley.

The National / The War on Drugs

On this joint headline jaunt, dubbed the Zen Diagram Tour, the masters of anthemic domesticity and mesmeric heartland synth-rock will traverse North America. The itinerary includes dates at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, Greek Theatre in Berkeley, and Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Support comes from Lucius , who recently joined Joni Mitchell for her performance of “Both Sides Now” at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Neil Young & Crazy Horse are back in the saddle for a string of dates in April and May, supporting their second album in as many years, Fu##in’ Up . “We made this for the Horse lovers,” Young said in announcing the album. “I can’t stop it. The Horse is runnin’. What a ride we have.” Fetch the jodhpurs.

Olivia Rodrigo

There are over 75 dates on Olivia Rodrigo ’s Guts World Tour , spanning Europe and North America. Opening for Rodrigo on select dates will be Chappell Roan (who also worked on Guts ), PinkPantheress , and Remi Wolf . The chaperoning parents of younger tri-state area fans are clearly taken into consideration, too, as the Breeders recently supported Rodrigo over four nights at Madison Square Garden. The pop star is also scheduled to perform four consecutive shows at the O2 in London, and will wrap up the blockbuster tour in August with four nights at Inglewood’s Kia Forum.

Orville Peck

Country crooner Orville Peck recently released the new single “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other,” a cover and collaboration with Willie Nelson that doubles as the first taste of a forthcoming duets album called Stampede . He’ll bring the new music on the road through North America starting in Asheville this May, with stops in Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, Kansas City, and more. Peck has recruited various supporting acts to open, including Durand Jones, Jaime Wyatt, Debii Dawson, and others, but you can probably count on a few surprise appearances from artists who feature on Stampede to pop up along the way, too.

When Pearl Jam announced their new album, Dark Matter , along with news of a world tour , it marked a first in the band’s long, storied career. That simultaneous reveal seemed to match the excitement and wild nature of the record itself, or at least its self-titled single. Onstage, while performing new material, cherry-picking classics, and breaking out deep cuts from their extensive catalog, Pearl Jam will bring that enthusiasm to nine countries over the course of the year. The tour begins on May 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and will last on through to November 21, where the band ends their long run in Sydney, Australia.

Peso Pluma is getting ready for a tour of North America with a brand new setlist. Following the Mexican star’s debut tour, the Éxodo Tour backs his 2023 breakout album, Génesis . The run begins in May and concludes in October, with stops in Montreal, Miami, and San Diego. Alongside the tour, he’s set to grace the stages at Chicago’s Sueños Festival, New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival, and Baja Beach Best in Rosarito Beach. –Boutayna Chokrane

Pixies / Modest Mouse / Cat Power

The alt-rock gods unite in this triple bill of creature critters, an expansion of the outfits’ joint jaunt last summer. A newly Paz Lenchantin–less Pixies headline alongside Modest Mouse, with Chan Marshall’s Cat Power supporting. Reports from the first run suggest this is firmly cemented as a fan-pleasing legacy tour, and with nearly two dozen dates in the diary, they’ll have plenty of fans to please.

PJ Harvey is pulling out all the stops for her first North American tour in seven years. She worked with theater director Ian Rickson and a crack team of designers for the new dates behind I Inside the Old Year Dying , enlisting a band of John Parish, Jean-Marc Butty, Giovanni Ferrario, and James Johnston. The run includes two nights apiece at New York’s Terminal 5 and the San Francisco Masonic, as well as concluding stop at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Postal Service / Death Cab for Cutie

Continuing their joint-headline tour, the Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie are hitting the road in April, gracing stages across North America until May. Fans can catch select performances featuring Chicago indie rock band Slow Pulp . In August, the tour crosses over to Europe for a couple of shows, with supporting acts from Teenage Fanclub and the Kills . Plus, the Postal Service are expected to headline Pasadena’s Just Like Heaven Festival on May 18, playing 2003’s Give Up in its entirety. Death Cab celebrates their 20th anniversary of Transatlanticism with a full set at the festival, too.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

The shows Red Hot Chili Peppers have planned for 2024 include a diverse and long list of support. After their two May shows at the Tokyo Dome, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have lined up Kid Cudi , Ice Cube , Ken Carson , Otoboke Beaver , Seun Kuti , Wand , and Irontom to join them on select dates in North America. The band, who’s also headlining the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 15, will close out a two-month run at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 30.

Robert Plant / Alison Krauss

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss return to North America for the Can’t Let Go Tour, starting with a centennial celebration at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Playing in amphitheaters, pavilions, opera houses, and other august venues, the duo will be joined by a band including JD McPherson—who also supports the dates—drummer Jay Bellerose, bassist Dennis Crouch, string musician Stuart Duncan, and Viktor Krauss on keys and guitar.

The Rolling Stones

Forget about what you thought of Hackney Diamonds for a second: Do you want to go see the Rolling Stones play a stadium somewhere in North America? If you do, their upcoming dates from late April to mid-July have you covered. Among their plans are back-to-back shows at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, two nights at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium, and also a headlining spot at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Will any special guests show up at these shows? Who knows, but the band did play a surprise release show with Lady Gaga last year, so anything can happen.

Shakira is gearing up for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The North American leg begins in November and stretches into December. Given the tour’s title, expect international dates behind Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran .

Shoegaze quintet Slowdive are currently on tour behind their latest album, 2023’s Everything Is Alive . The UK band will continue to take the stage in support of the album across the United States until the end of May, with stops in Louisville, Dallas, New Orleans, and more cities along the way before wrapping up in Asheville.

St. Vincent

Following the release of her new album, All Born Screaming , St. Vincent will hit the road for a North American tour. Commencing on May 22 in Ventura, California, Annie Clark will course through cities in Canada and the Pacific Northwest before hitting denser locals like Los Angeles, Boston, Brooklyn, and Washington, D.C. Her final show on the trek will take place in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on September 20. Clark will be joined by Yves Tumor, Spoon, Eartheater, Momma, and Dorian Electra on select dates.

Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks’ upcoming tour dates kick off with a set at Lovin’ Life Music Festival in May, and it follows the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman’s previous run spanning the end of 2023 through earlier this year. Nicks will continue through various U.S. cities this summer, with shows lined up in Nashville, San Antonio, Denver, Indianapolis, and more. Plus, she has a special performance at Soldier Field in Chicago alongside Billy Joel in June.

Taylor Swift

The hottest concert ticket of 2023—subject of the biggest concert film of all time—continues its reign throughout 2024. Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour is crisscrossing the globe. After spending February in Japan and Australia, and March in Singapore, the pop star is taking five before she heads to Europe and the United Kingdom from May to August, with supporting act Paramore . The shows return to North America from October until December, joined by Gracie Abrams, and with multiple dates in Miami Gardens, Indianapolis, and Toronto. If you’ve read through this paragraph, you might have noticed: that’s most of the months!

After the release of her latest album, What an Enormous Room , Mackenzie Scott spent January to April on the road. Torres started the year with January dates across the United States with Aisha Burns. For the first two weeks of February, she was in Europe and the United Kingdom for a bunch of shows and then returned to the United States in late March for shows alongside Liza Anne. The indie rock singer-songwriter has a couple of shows planned for July featuring supporting acts from Lindsay Lou and Fruit Bats .

After a successful two-year residency in Las Vegas, Usher gears up for a nationwide tour, celebrating his 30-year career. The Past Present Future Tour begins in August in Washington, D.C., spanning 24 cities including Dallas, Atlanta, and Vancouver. Fans can anticipate a tour through Usher’s discography, mixed with tracks from his latest album, Coming Home .

Waxahatchee

Katie Crutchfield is hitting the road behind her latest Waxahatchee LP, Tigers Blood . Her current live band features MJ Lenderman and Spencer Tweedy, both of whom played on the album (Lenderman also opened for Waxahatchee during her 2022 trek). The North American tour wraps in early September, and includes a rotating support schedule from Tim Heidecker, Snail Mail, Greg Mendez, Gladie, Good Morning, and Tré Burt on select dates.

North Carolina quintet Wednesday will continue their North American tour into late May, hitting up Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, and additional cities before playing a pair of shows later this summer. This leg of Wednesday’s tour follows their 2023 LP, Rat Saw God , and will include support from Los Angeles rock band Draag.

Leeds post-punks Yard Act have been playing shows across the United Kingdom for the past month, touring behind their sophomore LP, Where’s My Utopia? After a stint in Europe, they’ll hop across the pond to North America in late May, performing in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and more. A second U.S. leg will follow in October. The band’s current live outfit features core members James Smith, Ryan Needham, Sam Shipstone, and Jay Russell, as well as a quartet of backup singers.

K-pop girl group ITZ Y announced the dates for their second world tour on Thursday (Jan. 25). The spring/summer outing will find the quartet hitting 18 countries across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Europe and North America on the BORN TO BE swing that is slated to kick off at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, South Korea on Feb. 24.

ITZY’s New Mini-Album ‘Born to Be’ Has Arrived: Stream It Now

The dates will feature the debut live performances of songs from the group’s recent 10-track Born To Be mini album, which is their first release to feature solo songs from each member of the group. The eighth EP from the group comprised of Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna — fifth member rapper Lia is currently on hiatus from the group dealing with health issues — includes the title track, as well as “Untouchable,” “Mr. Vampire” and “Dynamite.”

Tickets for the Asian dates can be found on the local promoter’s websites, with the Mexican date presales beginning on Feb. 5, followed by a general onsale beginning Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. local time here . Just a Few of the Biggest Concert Tours of 2024, from Olivia Rodrigo to Bad Bunny

Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.

Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?—set to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.

1) Taylor Swift

Undoubtedly one of the biggest concert tours ever, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will continue right through 2024. The international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan, where she played four shows in Tokyo. She'll also stop in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, and more before returning to the States to play in the fall.

There's nothing like seeing T. Swift IRL, but don't fret if you're unable to nab tickets—the Eras Tour movie is now available to stream from the comfort of your home.

2) Olivia Rodrigo

This is not a drill—"Drivers License" singer Olivia Rodrigo will be hitting the road on tour starting at the end of February. The Guts World Tour runs from February through mid-August and has dates in Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City, among others. Even cooler? Rodrigo will have a stacked list of special guests—like PinkPantheress, Remi Wolf, The Breeders, and Chappell Roan—with her.

3) Red Hot Chili Peppers

Did you hear the good news? The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their global tour through summer 2024. The buzzy stadium tour, which kicked off in June 2022, will now run until July 2024 and bring the California-based band to places like Los Angeles, Tampa, Toronto, and Salt Lake City.

4) Bad Bunny

It's fitting that "Monaco" rapper Bad Bunny titled his tour Most Wanted —it's slated to be one of the year's hottest tours. Planned to help promote his latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Most Wanted will kick off in Salt Lake City on February 21 and run through May 26.

5) Billy Joel

If you haven't yet seen Billy Joel perform live, there's still time! The Piano Man has added more tour dates to his schedule, stopping in cities like Tampa, New York, Denver, and St. Louis this year. Even more exciting? He'll share the stage with fellow iconic performers Sting and Stevie Nicks for some of these dates.

Mitski recently announced that she's expanding her North American tour dates , and we couldn't be more excited. The months-long tour, which supports her 2023 studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, has a long list of stops, including Miami Beach, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Paris.

There's nothing quite like a Madonna concert, that's for sure. The singer's Celebration Tour , which started last October, continues straight through the spring with dates in Seattle, San Francisco, Mexico City, and more. Besides her eye-catching sets, chart-topping songs, and impressive choreography, concertgoers also get a glimpse of the performer's fantastic costumes, which include looks from Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier.

8) Bleachers

The New Jersey-founded rock band, which is fronted by Jack Antonoff—known for producing albums for top acts like Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey—not only has announced a new album but a new tour , too. The tour will start in the UK in March, ending fittingly in the band's home state of New Jersey in mid-June. Check out their newly released music video for "Tiny Moves" if you need a Bleachers fix in the meantime.

9) Nicki Minaj

Nicki fans rejoice: the rapper and singer might be coming to a city near you soon as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. The massive tour will include performances in Brooklyn, Oakland, and Baltimore, with stops at Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud California along the way.

10) Blink 182

Live out all of your nineties and early aughts pop-punk dreams with one of Blink 182's One More Time Tour dates. The tour, which supports the band's ninth studio album, One More Time..., will bring the trio to cities all over the globe, including Sydney, Santiago, Portland, and Boston. The tour's supporting act is Pierce the Veil, which is also worth checking out.

11) Stevie Nicks

The oh-so-magical Stevie Nicks continues her touring streak with a bunch of 2024 concert dates . Set to begin in Atlantic City, NJ on February 10, Nicks will visit a dozen cities throughout the U.S. this year, such as New Orleans, Omaha, and Chicago. "Let's keep this party going in 2024," the singer-songwriter posted on her Instagram in September to announce the newly added tour dates.

12) The 1975

The 1975 is showing no signs of slowing down. The British band, famous for hits like "Somebody Else" and "Robbers," has extended their 2023 tour through 2024. Titled Still...At Their Very Best , the 22-date tour will open in Glasgow on February 8 and conclude in Amsterdam on March 24.

13) Drake and J. Cole

Rap greats Drake and J. Cole come together for the It's All a Blur Tour – Big As the What? which is guaranteed to be a good time. Drake, fresh off his 2023 It's All a Blur tour with 21 Savage, is set to hit dozens of cities starting in February, many of which J. Cole will also be in tow for. Scoop up tickets ASAP, as Drake's shows are known to sell out.

14) Janet Jackson

Superstar Janet Jackson is also extending her 2023 tour, Together Again , into 2024 with dates in Anaheim, Austin, New Orleans, and Hartford. Even cooler? Jackson's supporting act is the 2000s southern rap legend Nelly.

15) Rolling Stones

If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Rolling Stones perform live in person, now's your chance. The iconic rockers, who released their studio album Hackney Diamonds this past fall, are returning on the road for a 16-date tour with shows throughout the United States and Canada. Concertgoers can expect a mix of new tunes and Stones classics.

16) Bruce Springsteen

Famous for countless listenable hits like "Born to Run" and "Glory Days," Bruce Springsteen is set to embark on a massive world tour this year with his band, The E Street Band. The much-anticipated tour will take the Boss and his crew to cities such as Phoenix, San Diego, Dublin, and Madrid, from March through November.

17) John Mayer

Be sure to catch John Mayer's solo tour this year, which will bring the guitarist and crooner to cities throughout Europe. This leg, an extension of his popular 2023 solo tour, will kick off in Stockholm on March 13 and finish in Dublin on March 29.

18) Shania Twain

Okay, this one is technically a residency , but we're excited nonetheless. Shania Twain, most known for her incredible outfits (her hooded leopard print look, anyone?) and hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" is setting up shop in Vegas starting May 10. Twain's residency will take place at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood on and off throughout December 2024.

All good things must come to an end. The Eagles, known for "Hotel California" and other amazing rock songs, began their final concert tour this winter. It launched in Phoenix on January 20, with March 16 as its last date in the United States. Eagles fans won't want to miss this one.

20) Alanis Morisette: The Triple Moon Tour

Alanis Morisette joins forces with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for their 2024 Triple Moon Tour , which has dates in North America and Canada. This tour is a great one to catch this summer, as it's slated to run from June through August.

St. Vincent unveiled her new North American run of shows for this year, on the All Born Screaming Tour . The tour’s title comes shortly after the reveal of her next album , the first one that she’s self-produced.

Kicking off in May in California, St. Vincent will be joined by Momma, Spoon, Eartheater, Yves Tumor, and Dorian Electra along select tour stops.

Citi cardholders will be able to participate in a pre-sale starting Tuesday, April 2 at 10 a.m. local time. From there, the Live Nation pre-sale will open on Wednesday, April 3. Tickets will then be available for the general public on Friday, April 5 at the same time. Additional information can be found on her website .

Why Your Big Sister Resents You

“Eldest daughter syndrome” assumes that birth order shapes who we are and how we interact. Does it?

Catherine Pearson is a younger daughter who still leans on her older sister for guidance all the time.

In a TikTok video that has been watched more than 6 million times, Kati Morton, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Santa Monica, Calif., lists signs that she says can be indicative of “eldest daughter syndrome.”

Among them: an intense feeling of familial responsibility, people-pleasing tendencies and resentment toward your siblings and parents.

On X, a viral post asks : “are u happy or are u the oldest sibling and also a girl”?

Firstborn daughters are having a moment in the spotlight , at least online, with memes and think pieces offering a sense of gratification to responsible, put-upon big sisters everywhere. But even mental health professionals like Ms. Morton — herself the youngest in her family — caution against putting too much stock in the psychology of sibling birth order, and the idea that it shapes personality or long term outcomes.

“People will say, ‘It means everything!’ Other people will say, ‘There’s no proof,’” she said, noting that eldest daughter syndrome (which isn’t an actual mental health diagnosis) may have as much to do with gender norms as it does with birth order. “Everybody’s seeking to understand themselves, and to feel understood. And this is just another page in that book.”

What the research says about birth order

The stereotypes are familiar to many of us: Firstborn children are reliable and high-achieving; middle children are sociable and rebellious (and overlooked); and youngest children are charming and manipulative.

Studies have indeed found ties between a person’s role in the family lineup and various outcomes, including educational attainment and I.Q . (though those scores are not necessarily reliable measures of intelligence ), financial risk tolerance and even participation in dangerous sports . But many studies have focused on a single point in time, cautioned Rodica Damian, a social-personality psychologist at the University of Houston. That means older siblings may have appeared more responsible or even more intelligent simply because they were more mature than their siblings, she said, adding that the sample sizes in most birth order studies have also been relatively small.

In larger analyses, the link between birth order and personality traits appears much weaker. A 2015 study looking at more than 20,000 people in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States found no link between birth order and personality characteristics — though the researchers did find evidence that older children have a slight advantage in I.Q. (So, eldest daughters, take your bragging rights where you can get them.)

Dr. Damian worked on a different large-scale study, also published in 2015 , that included more than 370,000 high schoolers in the United States. It found slight differences in personality and intelligence, but the differences were so small, she said, that they were essentially meaningless. Dr. Damian did allow that cultural practices such as property or business inheritance (which may go to the first born) might affect how birth order influences family dynamics and sibling roles.

Still, there is no convincing some siblings who insist their birth order has predestined their role in the family.

After her study published, Dr. Damian appeared on a call-in radio show. The lines flooded with listeners who were delighted to tell her how skewed her findings were.

“Somebody would say: ‘You’re wrong! I’m a firstborn and I’m more conscientious than my siblings!’ And then someone else would call in and say, ‘You’re wrong, I’m a later-born and I’m more conscientious than my siblings!” she said.

What personal experience says

Sara Stanizai, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Long Beach, Calif., runs a virtual group with weekly meet-ups, where participants reflect on how they believe their birth order has affected them and how it may be continuing to shape their romantic lives, friendships and careers.

The program was inspired by Ms. Stanizai’s experience as an eldest daughter in an Afghan-American family, where she felt “parentified” and “overly responsible” for her siblings — in part because she was older, and in part because she was a girl .

While Ms. Stanizai acknowledged that the research around birth order is mixed, she finds it useful for many of her clients to reflect on their birth order and how they believe it shaped their family life — particularly if they felt hemmed in or saddled by certain expectations.

Her therapy groups spend time reflecting on questions like: How does my family see me? How do I see myself? Can we talk about any discrepancies in our viewpoints, and how they shape family dynamics? For instance, an older sibling might point out that he or she is often the one to plan family vacations. A younger sibling might point out that he or she often feels pressured into going along with whatever the rest of the group wants.

Whether or not there is evidence that birth order determines personality traits is almost beside the point, experts acknowledged.

“I think people are just looking for meaning and self-understanding,” Ms. Stanizai said. “Horoscopes, birth order, attachment styles” are just a few examples, she said. “People are just looking for a set of code words and ways of describing their experiences.”

Prince had been at a crossroads before, but never like he was at the beginning of 2004.

On February 8, he opened the 2004 Grammy Awards with a five-minute medley of “Purple Rain,” “Baby I’m a Star” and “Let’s Go Crazy” — with Beyonce — that may be the greatest opening to a music-awards show in television history. Two weeks later, he announced his first major tour in six years, noting that he’d be playing his hits again. “It’s older music, but it’s going to be played in a newer way,” he said, teasing that it might be the last time he played those songs in concert (it wasn’t). Then in March, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he played a different, much longer medley of his hits during the ceremony — but of course what everyone remembers is his show-stealing solo during the all-star George Harrison tribute, which he finished by throwing his guitar into the audience.

Musically, “Musicology” was a return to accessibility. And although it didn’t reach the peaks of his classic ‘80s material — to be fair, not much music does — it was a vivid sampler of his musical styles that marked the return of the Prince that people knew and loved. It also was a genuine hit: The ticket-CD bundle helped loft the album to No. 3 on the Billboard 200, but it was top 5 in multiple countries all over the world without that boost, even though it didn’t have a big hit single. Recorded over several years, “Musicology”’s musical baseline is the brand of lean funk Prince was raised on — he even shouts out Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown and others in the album’s lead-off title track, which concludes with brief, scratchy recordings of some of his own hits in a mock scanning-the-radio-dial segment. There are a couple of “Do Me, Baby”-styled bedroom ballads, bombastic rock (“A Million Days”), even the new wave pop he hadn’t done since “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man” on “Cinnamon Girl,” complete with splashes of vintage synthesizers. It winds down with a sultry, slow-burning burst of Aretha on the soulfully bluesy “On the Couch” and concludes with the breezy “Reflection.”

Even though Prince’s musicianship was at a new peak — his blazing guitar work, multi-tracked harmonies, production and arranging show an artist at the top of his craft — he was making music that was easy to like again, which isn’t to say it was simple; but even at its most sophisticated and complex (like the jazzy interlude at the end of “If I Was the Man in Ur Life”), it went down more smoothly. Indeed, the only area where “Musicology” fell flat is in the lyrics, which, like much of Prince’s later material, could be shockingly insipid. In particular, the album’s catchiest track, “Life of the Party,” is marred by lyrics so tossed-off that it sounds like they were written off the top of his head. (“So you’re havin’ a party?/ Goody for you/ All the beautiful people gonna be there/ Yeah, that’s cool.”) Even when he tried gravitas — about politics, war, global warming and moral decay on “Dear Mr. Man” — it wasn’t much better.

Prince was not an artist who’d ever lacked confidence, but by the end of 2004, the full swagger was back in his step. He’d significantly increased his wealth: The tour grossed nearly $90 million, the album was certified double platinum in the U.S. early in 2005, and it spurred sales of his entire catalog in an era when most people still bought CDs. But more importantly, it also marked the return of the Prince people knew, one who wasn’t completely refusing to be who he’d been, and not just musically: The weird outfits and otherworldly hairstyles had been replaced by sleek, classy suits and a short, trim cut.

The year’s creative efforts also gave him a model for how to pursue the rest of his career. Any time he wanted another million (or ten), he’d hit the road in some new and unusual way. Over the following years he played everything from a months-long Las Vegas residency to a premium-price one at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood; from a series of 21 dates at London’s Wembley Arena to a handful of shows in specific regions of the U.S. — even the Carolinas. He played brief “Hit and Run” tours that were announced just days before they launched; and of course he staged what is universally considered to be the greatest Super Bowl Halftime performance of all time in 2007. By contrast, his last tour, shortly before his death in 2016, was just him accompanying himself on piano. He kept finding new ways to keep himself interested.

And although he wouldn’t again reach the upper echelons of the charts in his lifetime and his albums continued to be frustratingly hit-or-miss, his sense of innovation returned with “3121,” the album that followed “Musicology” — on it, fans of “Sign O’ the Times,” which many regard as the peak of his creativity, could find much to grab onto, at least for the first half of the album. Unfortunately, most of the other albums he released in these years were maddeningly inconsistent (and sometimes appallingly bad) but although you won’t find any hidden “Purple Rain”s, there are overlooked gems to be found on many of them — like “Lavaux” and “Laydown” from “20Ten” (the latter of which features the priceless line, “from the heart of Minnesota/ Here come the purple Yoda”), and “Better With Time” and especially “ Ol’ Skool Company ” from “MPLSoUND.” Every once in a while on those albums and others, the Prince you love pops up with something so great it’s as if he’d never gone anywhere. And that’s really the gift of his scattershot, impossibly vast musical output — even though he’s no longer here, there’ll always be something new to find.

“Musicology” was the end of Prince’s wilderness years, and in every way, it set him up for the remaining dozen years of his much-too-brief life.

Russia arrests another suspect in the concert hall attack that killed 144

A Moscow court has detained another suspect as an accomplice in the attack by gunmen on a suburban Moscow concert hall that killed 144 people in March, the Moscow City Courts Telegram channel said Saturday.

Dzhumokhon Kurbonov, a citizen of Tajikistan, is accused of providing the attackers with means of communication and financing. The judge at Moscow’s Basmanny District Court ruled that Kurbonov would be kept in custody until May 22 pending investigation and trial.

Russian state news agency RIA Novosti said Kurbonov was reportedly detained on April 11 for 15 days on the administrative charge of petty hooliganism. Independent Russian media outlet Mediazona noted that this is a common practice used by Russian security forces to hold a person in custody while a criminal case is prepared against them.

Twelve defendants have been arrested in the case, including four who allegedly carried out the attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue, according to RIA Novosti.

Those four appeared in the same Moscow court at the end of March on terrorism charges and showed signs of severe beatings. One appeared to be barely conscious during the hearing. The court ordered that the men, all of whom were identified in the media as citizens of Tajikistan, also be held in custody until May 22.

A faction of the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the massacre in which gunmen shot people who were waiting for a show by a popular rock band and then set the building on fire. But Russian officials including President Vladimir Putin have persistently claimed, without presenting evidence, that Ukraine and the West had a role in the attack.

Ukraine denies involvement and its officials claim that Moscow is pushing the allegation as a pretext to intensify its fighting in Ukraine .
