The Chelsea Football Club has become a household name all around the world; so much so that even non-football fans have probably heard of Chelsea FC at some point or another. So if you want to treat yourself to at least one stadium tour during your visit to London, then make it The Chelsea Stadium Tour.

Chelsea FC has been around since 1905 and has been based at the Stamford Bridge Stadium since its formation. The stadium itself was constructed in 1877 (which makes it one of the oldest football grounds in the world), and has a seating capacity of 41,663.

Stamford Bridge Stadium is also home to the Chelsea Museum, which includes interactive exhibitions to educate visitors on how the Chelsea football team has evolved both on and off the pitch throughout its history.

RZD Arena (Lokomotiv Stadium)

RZD Arena

Club: FC Lokomotiv Moscow | Opening: 2002 | Capacity: 28,800 seats

History and description

RZD Arena, previously known as Lokomotiv Stadium, was built between 2000 and 2002, and opened on 5 July 2002 with a match between Lokomotiv and Ural.

The roof of the stadium is held up by four concrete pylons. The stadium holds 60 VIP boxes, each having between 10 and 20 seats.

Lokomotiv Stadium has been regularly used by other Russian sides needing a temporary home such as Anzhi in the Europa League and Spartak Moscow for the 2013-14 season while waiting for the completion of the Otkritie Arena .

In 2017, Lokomotiv Stadium changed name to RZD Arena following a naming rights sponsorship deal.

How to get to RZD Arena

RZD Arena is located in the north-east of the city of Moscow, between Moscow’s third ring road and the MKAD ring road at about 9 kilometres from Moscow’s city centre.

The stadium can be reached with  metro line 1 (the red line). It is an approximate 20-minute ride from stations Biblioteka or Okhotnyy Ryad in Moscow’s centre. Get off at station Cherkizovskaya, which lies right next to the stadium.

Address: Bolshaya Cherkizovskaya 125 A, 107553, Moscow

Eat, drink, and sleep near RZD Arena

RZD Arena is located on the outskirts of Moscow in a mainly residential area mixed up with some light industry. There is some small retail around where you may be able to get something to eat, but in general it is wiser to eat and drink in central Moscow.

There is a pocket of hotels not far south of the stadium near Izmailovsky Park, from where you can walk in 15 to 20 minutes to the stadium. They are near Partizanskaya metro station, which provides quick access to central Moscow.

The Izmailovo complex offers different hotels with different prices, though in most cases very affordable. These include the Izmailovo Beta Hotel , Izmailovo Gamma Hotel , and Izmailovo Alpha Hotel . The Best Western Vega Hotel is another option.

Click here for all hotels near the RZD Arena, and here for an overview of hotels in central Moscow.

Lokomotiv Moscow Tickets

Tickets for Lokomotiv games can be bought online , or at the ticket office at the RZD Arena. Lokomotiv sell out very few matches.

Lokomotiv have divided their home matches into two pricing categories. Ticket prices for the cheapest category start at RUB 250 for a seat behind the goal and range up to RUB 800 for a central seat at the main stand. Prices are increased for high-profile matches to between RUB 500 and RUB 1,200.

RZD Arena stadium tours

Lokomotiv offer guided stadium tours around the RZD Arena, which include the president’s office, home dressing room, player’s tunnel, pitch, and club museum.

Tours run on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00 noon, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. On matchdays there is a tour that runs three hours before the start of the match.

Tickets can be bought in the club shop at the stadium. For more information call +7(495) 500-31-23 or email [email protected] .

League One

Wrexham finalise tour schedule including Whitecaps, Chelsea and Bournemouth friendlies

WREXHAM, WALES - APRIL 13: Players of Wrexham celebrate victory and promotion into League One following the Sky Bet League Two match between Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers at Racecourse Ground on April 13, 2024 in Wrexham, Wales. (Photo by Charlotte Tattersall/Getty Images) (Photo by Charlotte Tattersall/Getty Images)

Wrexham will play in co-owner Ryan Reynolds’ home city of Vancouver on their pre-season tour of the USA and Canada.

Phil Parkinson’s newly-promoted side head to the 54,500-capacity BC Place on Saturday July 27 to face the Whitecaps in the final outing of a three-game tour that also includes clashes with two Premier League teams.

First up on July 20 at Santa Barbara’s Harder Stadium will be a meeting with Bournemouth , followed four days later by taking on Chelsea in Levi’s Stadium, the home of San Francisco 49ers.

This will be the second consecutive summer that Wrexham have headed across the Atlantic after last July facing Chelsea and Manchester United during a four-game tour that took in North Carolina, Los Angeles, San Diego and co-owner Rob McElhenney’s home city of Philadelphia.

“Last year’s U.S. Tour was a fantastic experience and a memorable trip for all the players and staff,” says manager Phil Parkinson.

“After another successful campaign, we’re delighted to be heading to the west coast again this summer, and we’re also looking forward to venturing up to Vancouver and spreading the club’s footprint into Canada.

“It will be a great chance to meet new supporters, while also building for the 2024/25 League One season.”

How Wrexham, Reynolds and McElhenney celebrated back-to-back promotions

Wrexham’s reduced itinerary and travelling time follows a debrief into last summer’s trip, when the squad zig-zagged from east to west and back again before heading home just one week before the new season got under way.

Now, the players will be back home a little under a fortnight before the big EFL kick-off on August 10, with the plan being to stage one final pre-season friendly on UK soil.

Along with the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, club officials see the trips across the Atlantic as a key part of building an international audience.

Last year’s two-week long trip saw a small profit made from ticket sales and merchandise as crowds flocked to watch the newly-promoted National League champions.

But, the real benefits are expected to come down the line, via tapping into that lucrative U.S. and Canadian market.

Wrexham also proved good for local businesses last year, with one local tourist official forecasting a £15.3 million ($20 million) boost to the local economy in North Carolina around the Chelsea match, which was watched by an attendance of 50,596.
