With this type of visa, you can enjoy the different travel destinations, munch on their delicacies, and discover the unique blend of cultures you can only see in this rich Gulf country.

This is perfect for those with family members residing in Dubai who want to stay longer than the usual 30-day period. It is also advisable to get this visa if you are a company owner or work for a company currently operating in the country.

Dubai visa fees structure

A Dubai tourist visa fee may vary, and it would greatly depend on several factors:

  • Duration of stay
  • Type of visa you’re getting

The 30-day single-visit visa fee now costs around AED 550-900. On the other hand, travelers getting the 60-day single-entry tourist visa are said to pay around AED 800-1000.

You can check for updated information from reputable and official sources so you will have an exact idea of what requirements are needed and how much you need to pay extra for the extension of your visa. You can also see the table above for the 30-day extension visa fee.

What is the validity of Tourist and Visit Visas?

The Dubai tourist and visit visa validity actually depends on your chosen visa type.

  • A short-term tourist visa is valid for 30 days from the date you arrive in Dubai.
  • On the other hand, long-term visas allow travelers 60 days from the entry date to enter the country.

Reminder: Always check the validity period for your chosen visa so you won’t have any issues with regulation compliance, which can hamper your plans for a seamless travel experience.

You can also contact travel agencies in your country for any tourist packages available to the UAE in collaboration with a local tour operator.

3. Through UAE-based family and friends

As per the VisitDubai website, UAE residents (friends or relatives) can apply on your behalf subject to guidelines.

How can I extend the visa?

While the first time you apply for a visit visa you may not be inside the UAE, when extending the visa for another period of 30 or 90 days, you would need to apply for an ‘inside country visa change’, according to Sirajudeen Ummer, a Public Relations Officer with Dubai-based First Gate Business Services.

“The visa can be extended by providing the necessary documents and making the fee payment,” he said.

Documents required for processing inside the country visa change

• Passport copy (which should be valid for at least six months)

• Passport size photograph

• Old visa tourist/cancelled visa copy

• On arrival nationalities would only require Passport copy and photograph if they have entered UAE using on-arrival facility.

• If the visa was applied for by a relative or friend, they may need to submit a copy of their residence visa page and UID number.

Visas can cost approximately Dh320 for a one-month visa and Dh720 for a three month visa. However, as per Ummer, the cost may vary slightly based on the travel agency’s service charges.

You can apply for the second renewal before the expiry of the first one against Dh600 each time of renewal.

2. Transit visa – for 48 to 96 hours

This type of a visa, which is available for all passport holders, from 48 to 96 hours, is ideal for a short stopover in the UAE.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai took to its social media channels recently to inform passengers of how they can apply for a 96-hour transit visa – or an entry permit – when they arrive in the UAE.

Service requirements

To be able to get a transit visa issued at the immigration counter, you would need to present the following:

• Original passport

• An airline ticket showing the continuation of your journey, where the connecting flight should not be less than eight hours after you land in the UAE and not exceeding 96 hours and the destination of arrival and departure are not similar.

• Present a valid hotel reservation in UAE.

Service procedures

To apply for a transit visa, follow these steps:

• Visiting the airline company.

• Submit a request to issue a 96-hour entry permit with the airline’s service officer.

• If the request is approved, you will receive an approval of the request.

• Approach the passport officer at the immigration counter and complete the procedure.

Who needs a transit visa?

As per the UAE government’s official website – u.ae – if you are not one of the nationalities that are eligible for visa on arrival or a visa-free entry to the UAE, then you need a transit visa.

Who can apply for your transit visa?

UAE based-airlines you are travelling with can arrange your transit visa prior to your journey. If your trip is through a travel agency, the agency can also help you get the visa, but all visas are routed through the airline.

"The Transit Visa is a non-extendable single entry visa, valid for 30 days from the date of issue and the duration of stay is up to 96 hours (four days) from the time of entry. Transit passengers stopping at Dubai International Airport for a minimum of eight hours are eligible for a 96-hour Transit Visa," Shafiq Muhammad, Public Relations Officer with Muhaisnah Documents Clearing Services in Dubai told Gulf News.

"Such a visa is preferred by passengers having business meetings or taking a stopover en route to their next destination," he added.

3. Long-term, multiple entry tourist visa for five years

In case you are looking to visit the UAE regularly over the next few years, a new visa option has opened up for tourists. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has provided details of the five-year multiple entry tourist visa for all nationalities through the authority’s website.

Is a UAE-based sponsor required for the visa?

According to the details provided when the visa was announced, the visa does not require a UAE-based individual or organisation to sponsor the visa. Tourists can apply for the visa on self-sponsorship.

What is the maximum duration of stay on the visa?

As per the announcement, a tourist can stay for 90 days on each visit. This can be extended for another 90 days.

Up until now, tourists could only get visas for 30-day or 90-day durations.

How to apply for the five-year tourist visa

Step 1: Log on to the ICA website – www.ica.gov.ae

Step 2: Select ‘E-channel Services’ from the main module on the website.

Step 3: Select ‘Public services’.

Step 4: Select the service ‘Visa – multi-trip / tourist long-term (5 years) for all nationalities / visa issuance’

In conclusion, Dubai visa price can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including the type of visa, the nationality of the traveler, and the length of stay. Whether planning a short holiday or a longer business trip, it is important to research the different visa options available and budget accordingly to ensure that your time in Dubai is enjoyable and stress-free.

Furthermore, the government’s decision to sponsor unmarried daughters indefinitely reflects its commitment to family unity and stability. These changes demonstrate the UAE’s dedication to upholding family values and creating a supportive environment for families to thrive.

Furthermore, sponsorship by licensed universities or institutions ensures the quality and legitimacy of the program. This visa fosters knowledge exchange and skills development, contributing to a more educated and skilled workforce.

8. Residence Permit for Humanitarian Cases

For the following humanitarian situations, the UAE will grant residency permits:

  • Women citizens with one or more children whose spouses were nationals of the United Arab Emirates and who passed away there
  • Foreign passports held by the parents or offspring of a UAE national
  • Spouses and kids of state citizens of the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) who own foreign passports

9. Dubai & UAE Re-entry Permit

Residency visa holders in Dubai and the UAE who’ve been away for over six months can now apply for a re-entry permit to avoid cancellation, allowing them to return within 30 days of approval. A valid reason and supporting documents are required. Applications go through the ICP website for all Emirates except Dubai, which follows a slightly different process. This new permit provides greater flexibility for residents needing extended time abroad.

10. UAE Entry Permit Extension

Holders of UAE entry permits can extend their stay for up to 90 days, depending on the visit purpose and other factors. A valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity is required. Applications are submitted through relevant tourism companies or the ICP smart service system (account creation and fee payment required).

30-day extensions, costing AED 610 (AED 260 for GCC residents, passport copy required), come with additional fees for healthcare, study, and GCC companion permits. These permits have varying maximum extensions (90 days for healthcare, 60 days for GCC companions, and 90 days for study) and respective fees (AED 510, AED 260, and AED 610). Additionally, visit entry permits boast a maximum duration of one year, with the potential for extensions upon approval and payment of corresponding fees.

1. 90-Day Visitor Visa Extension:

  • Holders of 90-day visit visas can now extend their stay for an additional 30 days, bringing the total possible extension to 90 days.
  • The extension can be obtained within the country, eliminating the need to leave and re-enter.
  • The fee is AED 600 (USD 163).

2. 30-Day Extension for All Tourist Visas:

  • The fee remains the same at AED 600 (USD 163).

3. Online Visa Extension and Termination:

  • Individuals can now extend or terminate their entry permits through a personal online account.
  • This applies to normal visas, green residency visas (valid for 2 months), and Golden visas (valid for 6 months with multiple entries).

4. Neighboring Country Entry Visa:

  • Residents of neighboring countries can obtain a 90-day entry visa at UAE border points.
  • This visa allows multiple entries with a maximum stay of 48 hours per visit.
  • Working in the UAE is not permitted on this visa.

5. Green and Golden Visa Holders:

  • Green and Golden visa holders, along with their families, can stay outside the UAE for more than 180 days without affecting their residency visa validity.

Overstaying Fines

Foreign nationals who overstay their UAE visit visa need an out pass, costing AED 200-300, to leave the country. You can obtain this document at airports, land borders, or the Al Awir Immigration office. Overstayers face fines of AED 50 per day, though a 10-day grace period applies. Airport closures or flight cancellations exempt visitors from fines.

Visit Visa Price

UAE and Dubai visit visa fees have gone up by AED 100, impacting both 30-day and 60-day tourist visas. An ICP customer service representative has confirmed this increase. As an example, a one-month visit visa issued by the ICA now costs AED 370 instead of the previous AED 270.

Unused Visit Visas

Holders of unused UAE visit visas are subject to specific regulations.

  • Cancellation:  Visas must be canceled within the validity period (e.g., 30 days for a 30-day visa), incurring a cancellation fee (up to AED 300).
  • Extension:  Alternatively, entry can be extended for two months for an AED 200 fee.

Ignoring these requirements can lead to negative consequences:

  • The UAE immigration system may reject future visa applications.
  • Uncancelled visas may incur unnecessary overstay fines.

Therefore, canceling or extending unused visit visas before the validity period expires is crucial.
