Artemis 2 mission benefits from Canadian winter experience

Cold weather is helping to boost the fortunes of Canada in space, including its contributions to Artemis 2 .

Astronaut Jeremy Hansen will the first non-American to leave low Earth orbit, alongside three NASA crewmates, no earlier than 2024. Canadian leader and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau argues that Canada's winter experience is one big reason for its success in space.

Trudeau emphasized that working in Canada's north helped with numerous kinds of technology, including the Canadarm robotic arm series that has provided Canadian astronaut seats for nearly 40 years.

The Arctic in particular represents "some of the harshest environments" available to humans, and Trudeau joked that when asked about why Canada does so well in space, he responds: "Obvious. Winter."

Artemis 2 astronauts thrilled for moon mission

The four astronauts of NASA's Artemis 2 mission are thrilled, to say the least, to be on the crew that will send the first humans to the moon in more than 50 years. You can read our full story here .

Set to launch on a Space Launch System megarocket in 2024, NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency will fly around the moon, much like Apollo 8, on their Orion spacecraft.

Here's what they had to say of the mission today:

Commander Reid Wiseman: "This is a global effort, Artemis 2, and it's only going to get larger with Artemis 3 and beyond as we get private spaceflight involved. SpaceX is building our lander for Artemis 3. So to the NASA workforce, to our program managers, our center directors that are here, the amazing political support that we feel right now to bring our country together to bring our entire world together to go explore to get to Mars and beyond, we say a huge thank you."

Pilot Victor Glover: " We need to celebrate this moment in human history. Because Artemis two is more than a mission to the moon and it's more than a mission that has to happen before we send people to the surface of the moon. It is the next step on the journey that gets humanity to Mars. "Human spaceflight is like a relay race, and that baton has been passed generation to generation and from crew member to crew member from the Gemini, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Apollo Soyuz, Skylab Mir, the shuttle, International Space Station, commercial crew and and now the Artemis missions. We understand our role in that. And when we have the privilege of having that baton. We're going to do our best to run a good race to make you proud. I pray that God will bless this mission. But I also pray that we can continue to serve as a source of inspiration for cooperation and peace, not just between nations, but in our own nation."

Mission specialist Christina Koch:  "When I think about this mission, that's a relay race with international partners, it's all so awesome in and of itself.

"We are going to launch for Kennedy Space Center to the work of the exploration Ground Systems team. We're going to hear the words go for launch on top of the most powerful rocket NASA's ever made the Space Launch System, and we're gonna ride that rocket for eight minutes into Earth orbit. We're not going to go to the moon right away. We're gonna stay in an amazing high orbit, reaching a peak of tens of thousands of miles while we test out all the systems on Orion and see how it maneuvers in space. And then if everything was good, we're heading to the moon.

"It will be a four day journey, going a quarter of a million miles, continuing to test out every bit of Orion going around the far side of the moon, heading home going through the Earth's atmosphere at over 25,000 miles per hour and splashing down in the Pacific. So am I excited? Absolutely. But my real question is Are you excited? I asked that because the one thing I'm most excited about is that we are going to carry your excitement, your aspirations, your dreams with us on this mission. Artemis to your mission."

Mission specialist Jeremy Hansen: "Our scientists or engineers, the Canadian Space Agency, the Canadian Armed Forces across government, all of our leadership working together under a vision to take step by step and all of those have added up to this moment where a Canadian is going to the moon with our international partnership and it is glorious."

Tuesday Tip: Finishing your Journeys

For February’s Tips I am going to focus on Journey Builder.

Today’s tip is all about stopping – specifically stopping your old versions within your journeys.

Keeping your Marketing Cloud clean and organized is an on-going process. But when it comes to Journey Builder, I have an easy recommendation for you – every time you go into a journey to activate a new version, go back and look at your previous versions. Do you have any that are still marked as “finishing”?

When you activate a new version of a journey, the previous version moves automatically to “finishing” status. The problem is, they never leave that status on their own. The only way a journey will move to “stopped” status is if you stop them.

Checking to see if you can safely stop a journey is easy. There is a Health Check tool you can use. If you click on the suitcase in the upper right corner, the health check pop-up. Here you can see how many people are still working there way through that version of your journey. If there is no one left, go ahead and stop that version. (Be careful to only stop that version and not all versions.)

SMC Journey Builder Top Right Header Bar

If you remember to check your old versions every time you activate a new one, not only will it be easier to tell where your traffic actually is, but you will have a much cleaner Journey Builder instance.

Toto, which supported Journey on their tour earlier this year to celebrate their "Freedom" album, will again join Journey founder, guitarist Neal Scho n, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen as show openers.

Journey's tour finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers tearing through a set list of anthems including "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully," "Be Good to Yourself" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'."

When "Freedom" arrived in July 2022, Schon told USA Today that the album title was originally tapped for the band's 1986 release, "Raised on Radio," but then-singer Steve Perry didn't like it, "so we sat on it for many years … when we were tossing around album titles said, why not just call the whole thing 'Freedom?' It's for the times right now."

Schon was also sanguine when reflecting on the band’s legacy.

"It’s quite an accomplishment and I’m very proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve gotten through emotional and personnel changes and survived," he said. "It’s pretty mind-boggling but also a lot of hard work."

How to Keep the Momentum on Your Health Journey

Navigating your personal health journey

As humans, we often compare ourselves to others or wonder how we can reach the next best thing: When will I reach my goal weight? Why is it so difficult to control my relationship with food? Where am I headed in my career? Why does everyone else seem to have it all together?

This mind-set can be exhausting as you try to create sustainable changes in your life. It distracts you from enjoying the present moment and acknowledging the steps you’ve taken to get this far. It’s important to remember there are always going to be roadblocks on your journey, whether you’re navigating your physical, mental, or emotional well-being.

Perhaps you’re feeling anxious about all the unhealthy foods that may be around during the holidays, or maybe you’re having difficulty keeping up with your routine while living with someone who doesn’t prioritize their health. It’s natural to encounter distractions or setbacks, but learning from and pushing past those points is where you build resilience and improve your mind-set.

What health looks and feels like will be different from person to person, and that’s what makes achieving health a bio-individual process. Wherever you are in your health journey, it’s important to remember that you are the creator of your own path. By recognizing this and choosing to stay in the present, you can grow more confident in your health choices and keep the momentum going on your personal journey.

How do Health Coaches fit into this mix?

Health Coaches can inspire the extra push you need to keep the momentum on your health journey. Here are some ways they encourage sustainable change in their clients’ lives:

     1.  Health Coaches create safe spaces and foster positive coach-client relationships.

A Health Coach is different than a nutritionist or dietitian in that they do not give personalized nutrition advice, nor do they prescribe diets or meal plans. Health Coaches have nutrition expertise, but focus on nutrition from a functional and holistic perspective, which means that everyone is different and will thrive off of their own unique wellness plan. This is IIN’s concept of bio-individuality!

Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Heather Freudenthal believes this relationship forms by taking this bio-individual approach, which means acknowledging her clients’ unique nutritional and emotional needs as well as their personal fears, concerns, and goals.

She says, “First and foremost, I make sure to validate my client’s feelings and acknowledge how challenging it can be to feel like ‘everyone else’ has it easier.” She connects with clients by reminding them that everyone struggles with something – even her. “Whether we struggle with cravings, food addiction, poor body image, poor health, or general feelings of being stuck, it can seem like there's something wrong with us when others around us don't struggle with the same things.”

     2.  Health Coaches help clients find joy in their journey.

According to Heather, focusing on the healthy habits that excite you can prevent a client from feeling overwhelmed about the journey as a whole.

“There’s a ‘fear of the forever’ that clients feel when it comes to creating consistent habits,” Heather says. “I try to point out the healthy habits that are enjoyable for my client, so it doesn’t feel like a struggle to them.” Whether a client enjoys working out, making a home-cooked meal, or getting to bed at an early hour, Health Coaches help clients identify, appreciate, and keep up with the habits that bring joy to their life.

Five ways to keep the momentum on your journey (with or without a Health Coach):

     1.  find an accountability buddy..

There’s strength in numbers. Enlisting a support system can motivate you to stick with your health goals and renew your energy on days when you’re just not feeling up to it. Your support system keeps your goals from feeling unreachable because they are on this journey with you (even if they’re simply cheering you on from the sidelines!).

live a life you love as a health coach guide opt in banner

You can build your support system by finding a friend to join you for your daily run, or challenging a friend to complete a round of sit-ups with you at the end of each night (this is a great virtual activity, too). If you live with a partner or roommate, accountability could look like swapping nights to cook a heathy dinner or leaving each other notes around the house with positive affirmations. When one person feels discouraged, it’s comforting and encouraging to know there’s someone there for you to keep you on track.

     2.  Document your progress.

When you write out your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, you’re reminding yourself of the work you’ve already put toward improving your overall health and happiness. This could look like keeping written or digital checklists, such as every time you exercise or choose a glass of water over a sweetened beverage. Documenting your progress is also great motivation to move toward the next benchmark on your list to reach your bigger goals.

     3.  Keep things fresh.

Change up your routine by getting creative in the kitchen! If you are someone who likes to meal prep, it can be easy to stick to the same few dishes in your wheelhouse. While habits and routine are comforting, learning new ways to keep your health journey interesting will go a long way.

There are so many delicious ways to enjoy functional foods – those that taste great and promote health – by experimenting in the kitchen. Try picking a new selection of fruits for your smoothie bowl or swap the meat once a week for roasted cauliflower tacos . Healthy eating shouldn’t feel boring – there are so many ways to integrate new textures and flavors by exploring new foods (bonus points if they’re colorful!).

     4.  Evaluate how your current habits make you feel.

Your energy is an important part of your overall health, so creating routines that leave you feeling optimistic, confident, and productive can help you stay focused on your health goals and journey. Perhaps you’ve been mindlessly scrolling on social media , or are often spending more than your weekly budget allows, leading to feelings of guilt. By perpetuating habits and behaviors that don’t promote great emotional health, you’ll feel less motivated to actually participate in the habits and behaviors that do promote health.

Creating healthier habits could look like putting your phone down during your morning routine and as about an hour before bed. When it comes to your shopping habits, explore whether there’s an underlying reason for wanting to spend more, such as a desire for comfort or connection. By bringing awareness to how these habits make you feel, you’ll be better able to shift the habits that bring you closer to your goals.

     5.  Be kind to yourself.

At its core, self-care means carving out time to show love and gratitude to yourself, while fueling your mind, body, and spirit in the process! Some parts of your health journey can feel stressful and overwhelming, so it’s important to give yourself the time and space to occasionally recharge. Self-care can look different for everyone, from a bubble bath at the end of a long day to a walk outside in nature.

Try giving yourself a break when you feel like you’ve been pushing too hard at the gym, or allow yourself to indulge in a piece of dark chocolate. You can even take it a step further by adopting a meditation or yoga practice , finding stillness and clarity amidst the sea of thoughts that may flow through your mind each day.

Gratitude for yourself and the process

Don’t forget to express gratitude for showing up for your health. Each day is an opportunity to remember where you started and reflect on how far you’ve come. Staying present and focused on your health journey can be difficult, and though you’ll experience setbacks or feel unmotivated from time to time, your continued and conscious commitment to improving your health will make you stronger each day.

Go live with publishable entities and track the go-live status of records

  • 2 contributors

Many entities within Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys require you to go live with a record before you can incorporate it into your marketing initiatives. The go-live process checks a record for errors, prepares it for use, and then marks it as available. In some cases, the go-live process ends by moving the record to a marketing service, which runs in parallel and processes data-intensive features like bulk email sending, collecting and analyzing results, or populating dynamic segments. The go-live process is also referred to as publishing .

Some entities require you to stop live records before you edit the entity, while others let you push updates from the Customer Insights - Journeys application without stopping the live process. In some cases, you won't be able to make certain types of changes (or even any changes at all) after you go live with a given record.

Monitor go-live status with the status and status reason fields

Most entities in Dynamics 365 have a Status and a Status reason field. A record's Status is either active or inactive , which indicates whether the record is in use, and affects where the record is visible and selectable in the user interface. The Status reason gives more information about the Status , and often functions as a substatus (which it usually does for publishable entities in Customer Insights - Journeys).

For most entities, you can manually assign the active or inactive Status for each record using buttons on the command bar. For example, you might mark a contact as inactive, which hides that contact from most views but keeps it in your database for future or historical reference. For publishable entities in the Customer Insights - Journeys application, the system usually manages the Status reason value (which is read-only) to give you more information about the publish status. For some publishable entities, the Status field is managed by the system and may not be editable directly either.

All entities provide a view selector for list views where you choose a saved query such as "Active journeys," "All live journeys," "Inactive journeys," and so on. In most cases, you can find inactive records by going to the "Inactive …" view, where you can usually reactivate a record if needed.

Use the system-view selector to see inactive records.

Customer journey go-live operations and status

For customer journeys, the Status and Status reason fields are managed by the system to indicate the journey's current go-live and operational status. Both values are read-only.

Some customer journey settings become locked (read-only) based on the journey's status reason. Some settings become permanent after you've gone live once. The following table summarizes these effects.

If you attempt to stop records such as email messages, forms, or segments utilized by live customer journeys, a warning pops up to prevent you from stopping a record that may disrupt a live journey.

Warning dialog when deleting a live record.

If you change the recurrence interval after the journey has already started, the current iteration will continue to run using the previous interval. Your new interval will take effect starting at the next iteration.

If you change the segment source for one or more segment tiles after a journey has started, the journey won't process any contacts that are no longer part of the segment and that haven't yet left the segment group tile. However, removed contacts that have already started the journey (that have left the segment group tile) continue to be processed to the end. The removed segment might be fully unprocessed, partially processed, or fully processed, depending on how far it progressed by the time you removed it. New contacts added by a new segment join the journey as usual, and contacts that were part of both the replaced and new segment continue where they left off.

Marketing email go-live operations and status.

You can manually set the Status of a message to active or inactive by using the buttons on the command bar. The Status reason indicates the message's go-live state and is read-only.

Some email settings become locked (read-only) based on the message's status reason. Some settings become permanent after you've gone live once. The following table summarizes these effects.

Content settings go-live operations and status

You can manually set the Status of a content-settings record to active or inactive by using the buttons on the command bar. The Status reason indicates the content-settings record's go-live state and is read-only.

All settings for content settings records are editable when the record has a status reason of Draft, Live-editable, or Stopped, but all are locked when the record is Live or Expired. No settings become permanent as a result of the record going live once.

Lead-scoring model go-live operations and status

You can manually set the Status of a lead-scoring model to active or inactive by using the buttons on the command bar (as with most entities). The Status reason indicates the model's current go-live state and is read-only.

Segment go-live operations and status

The Status reason indicates the segment's current go-live state and is read-only.

Some segment settings become locked (read-only) based on the segment's status reason. Some settings become permanent after you've gone live once. The following table summarizes these effects.

Marketing page go-live operations and status

You can manually set the Status of a marketing page to active or inactive by using the buttons on the command bar (as with most entities). The Status reason indicates the page's go-live state and is read-only.

All marketing-page settings are editable when the page has a status reason of Draft, Live-editable, or Stopped, but all are locked when Live, Expired, or transitioning. No settings become permanent as a result of the record going live once.

Marketing forms go-live operations and status

Marketing forms are reusable form elements that you can embed in your marketing pages. They are published to the marketing services, where they are made available to marketing pages running on the portal. You can also embed the forms onto any web page, such as on your own website, rather than on a Customer Insights - Journeys page.

You can manually set the Status of a draft or stopped marketing form to active or inactive by using the buttons on the command bar (as with most entities). The Status reason indicates the page's go-live state and is read-only.

All marketing-form settings are editable when the page has a status reason of Draft, Live-editable, or Stopped, but all are locked when Live. No settings become permanent as a result of the record going live once.

Events, session, and tracks go-live operations and status

When you go live with an event, Customer Insights - Journeys makes that event available to the event website. The event website displays many types of information that are defined on, and linked to, the event record. The event and all its settings remain editable even after you go live, and any changes you make to a live event, and its related live records will immediately be reflected on the website too.

Event sessions work similarly to the event itself, and essentially function as sub-events that, taken together, create the overall event schedule. The event website shows a schedule of live sessions that belong to each event. An event can include both live and not-live sessions, but only live sessions belonging to live events are shown on the website.

Event tracks are collections of sessions, usually related by theme or audience. Tracks provide a convenient way for attendees to register for several related sessions at once. Like event sessions, you must publish each track to make it appear on the website for its related event. An event can include both live and not-live tracks, but only the live tracks belonging to live events are shown on the website.

Event, session, and tracks all have a Status field, which works the same way as it does for most entities, but their go-live functionality works slightly differently than for other types of entities. For details, see Publish events, sessions, tracks, and related records to the website .

Train Status FAQ

Q) what is live train running status.

A) Live train running status for Indian railway trains means the current location of any train and its real time delay status. It also includes estimated arrival time of the train at upcoming stops.

Q) How can we check Live Train Status on RailYatri?

A) RailYatri started this easy-to-use app feature to simplify train travel for all its users. Now train status can be checked on the go via RailYatri mobile app or website to know the current location of the train and its delay status. Check train status through any modern day Internet-powered devices. If you are on a train you can also check live train status being offline by switching to GPS mode for fetching live train status. RailYatri recommends its users to use GPS mode while travelling on train for faster and more precise location.

Q) What is the source for Live Train Status for RailYatri?

A) In general, RailYatri is a full-stack information and booking platform. Specifically, on running train status, RailYatri has the most frequent and real-time updates of train location. RailYatri collects train location data in a crowd-sourced manner from the GPS or Cell-Tower network of mobile phones of its users. Thus this data is more precise and real-time. We recommend our users to use the RailYatri app which also works offline if the user is enroute journey. In summary, RailYatri’s source of data is crowdsourced status shared by users who are on the train.

Q) What is offline Live Train Status? How does it work?

A) Offline live train status means that no internet connection is required to find the live train status and ETA of train at the upcoming station. This needs the one-time download of the time table or the route on the user’s phone. Post that if the user is on a train then he can find the exact location of the train and track the ETA in offline mode as well. This feature is very useful since railway tracks do not always have full network coverage. Hence, we recommend our users to use the RailYatri app for hassle-free travel.

Q) How is RailYatri’s Live Train Status updates more accurate than the traditional Indian railway model?

A) The running status updates on mobile provided by RailYatri app are much more accurate as it is derived from mobile GPS or Cell-tower of the devices shared by our users. The traditional Indian railway model for train running status depends on the updates from the last stop, which is delayed and prone to manual errors.

Q) Why do users need to check current train running status frequently on the date of the journey?

A) It is critical to save on time while waiting to board your train or booking a taxi when you reach your destination. Train running status updates every minute. So, we recommend that our users check the status updates from time to time. The train running status information becomes more and more accurate, as the train is about to reach the estimated time of travel. This information helps you save time and plan better!

Q) How is delay or on-time information calculated for a running train?

A) Indian Railways measures the delay or on-time information of a train, basis estimated time of arrival(ETA) at the next stop. We follow the same analogy. So as an example if you see that a train is running late by 30 minutes at RailYatri, it means that the train is estimated to reach delayed by 30 minutes on its next arriving station. However, it can cover up this delay on the remainder of stations. Thus, we recommend our users to look at the estimated time of arrival(ETA) at all upcoming stops and also to check train running status from time to time.

Q) What is ETA according to the Indian railway? How does RailYatri calculate ETA?

A) ETA is an Estimated Time of Arrival of a train at upcoming stations. RailYatri has the best ETA prediction as compared to any other website or application. RailYatri uses machine learning algorithms to predict the ETA-based on the historical running patterns associated with the train. Trains do recover time too. So the train delay at the upcoming stoppages may be less than what has been reported from the last station. We recommend you to plan accordingly using the RailYatri app.

Despite a fortified border, migrants will keep coming, analysts agree. Here's why.

Border Patrol picks up a group of people seeking asylum from an aid camp near Sasabe, Arizona, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

The U.S. southern border is as fortified as ever and Texas is carrying out its own enforcement to stop people from crossing illegally, yet observers and analysts agree on this: migrants not only will continue to come, but their numbers will likely increase in the coming months.

The expected surge can be attributed not only to seasonal migration patterns, but an increase of people displaced by war, poverty, and climate factors in all continents.

And why do these analysts say this?

They keep a close eye on the Darién Gap in Panama and the borders between Central American countries, two key points to gauge the number of people venturing up north.

"In most countries (outward) migration has increased ... particularly in Venezuela, and that's not really reflected yet in the U.S. numbers," said Adam Isacson, an analyst of border and migration patterns at the Washington Office on Latin America, a nonpartisan research and advocacy organization based in Washington D.C.

Despite Mexico's cracking down on migrants, Isacson said people are still making their way up north, even if they need to pause for months at different points during their journey.

"There must be a huge number of people from Venezuela bottled up in Mexico right now," he said.

The Darién Gap serves as a good barometer for migration flows.

This 100-mile-long tropical jungle between Colombia and Panama has claimed the lives of hundreds of migrants, according to a report from the Migration Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank.

Yet the dangers at this jungle are not a deterrent, said Ariel Ruiz Soto, a senior policy analyst with this organization. The majority of people migrating are from Venezuela.

"The reason why I referred to Venezuelans in particular is because they represent a key challenge for removals from Mexico and from the United States to Venezuela," Ruiz Soto said.

Mexico and the U.S. had been flying Venezuelan migrants back to the South American country . However, earlier this year, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stopped accepting flights from the U.S. in response to economic sanctions imposed by the Biden administration.

Panama reported a 2% increase in crossings through the Darién Gap in February compared to the previous month.

What the numbers show

Analysts are projecting the increase in the remaining months of the fiscal year, even though U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported a 2.2% decrease in encounters with migrants along the Southern border in March. An encounter is every time a migrant is picked up by immigration authorities.

These numbers are consistent with cyclical patterns of illegal crossings that dip in the winter months, followed by more migrants attempting to get to the U.S. as warm weather arrives, said Ruiz Soto.

In a statement, CBP Spokesperson Erin Waters said the agency remains vigilant to "continually shifting migration patterns" amid "historic global migration."

Waters said the agency has also been partnering with Mexico to curb the flow of people migrating to the U.S.

Mexico has commissioned its National Guard to patrol its borders with Guatemala and the U.S.

"CBP continues to work with our partners throughout the hemisphere, including the Government of Mexico, and around the world to disrupt the criminal networks who take advantage of and profit from vulnerable migrants," Waters said.

Where are migrants crossing the border?

For the last few months, more migrants are attempting to cross through Arizona instead of Texas, according to CBP.

In 2023, the El Paso and Del Rio sector in Texas saw more crossings than any other place across the 2,000-mile Southern border. But this year the Tucson sector in Arizona has seen a 167% increase in crossings, more than any other.

Tiffany Burrow, operations director at Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition, an assistance organization for newly border crossers in Del Rio, said she has seen the shift.

"It's empty," Burrow said, pointing to her organizations' office. "There are no migrants."

In March, she helped only three migrants after they were released by CBP pending their court date. In December, they helped 13,511 migrants.

Burrow said that's how migration works — it ebbs and flows.

"We have to be ready to adapt," Burrow said.

Texas' role

Burrow and other immigrant advocates are closely observing Texas' ramping up of border enforcement.

In 2021 Gov. Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star initiative and deployed the Texas National Guard. Last year the state started lining up razor wire in sections of the Rio Grande.

Texas is also asking the courts to be allowed to implement a law passed last year by the Republican-controlled legislature, known as SB4, which requires local and state police to arrest migrants they suspect are in the country illegally.

It might be too early to know if all these efforts will have an impact on migration patterns, analysts said, considering that Texas saw the highest number of illegal crossings last year.

But, Mike Banks, special advisor on border matters to Abbott, said the state's efforts are fruitful.

Texas has spent over $11 billion in this initiative.

"The vast majority of the United States' southern border is in Texas, and because of Texas' efforts to secure the border, more migrants are moving west to illegally cross the border into other states," said Mike Banks in a statement to NPR.

Ruiz Soto, from the Migrant Policy Institute, said the impact of Texas' policies on arrivals "is likely to be minimal over the long term."

Carla Angulo-Pasel, an assistant professor who specializes in border studies and international migration at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, said that even with Texas' policies in place, migrants are likely to continue to cross.

"You can't claim, as much as I think Gov. Abbott wants to claim, that Operation Lone Star is going to somehow mean that you're going to see less numbers in Texas because that hasn't held true," Angulo-Pasel said. "We could also argue that things are going to progressively get more and more as the spring months progress."

Senate Approves Aid for Ukraine and Israel, Sending It to Biden’s Desk

The overwhelming bipartisan vote for the long-stalled $95.3 billion aid package capped a tortured journey for the legislation on Capitol Hill. President Biden is expected to quickly sign it.

Senate Passes $95.3 Billion Aid Package

The bipartisan bill includes $60.8 billion for ukraine; $26.4 billion for israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including gaza; and $8.1 billion for the indo-pacific region..

“On this vote, the yeas are 79. The nays are 18. The motion to concur in the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R. 815 is agreed to.” “Today, the Senate sends a unified message to the entire world. America will always defend democracy in its hour of need. We tell our allies, we will stand with you. We tell our adversaries, don’t mess with us. We tell the world, we will do everything to defend democracy and our way of life.” “For months, our friends have watched to see whether America still had the strength that won the Cold War or the resolve that has underpinned peace and prosperity literally for decades. Our enemies have tested whether the arsenal of democracy is, in fact, built to endure. Well, tonight, the Senate will send a clear message.”

Reporting from the Capitol

The Senate voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday night to give final approval to a $95.3 billion package of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, sending it to President Biden and ending months of uncertainty about whether the United States would continue to back Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression.

The vote reflected resounding bipartisan support for the measure, which passed the House on Saturday by lopsided margins after a tortured journey on Capitol Hill, where it was nearly derailed by right-wing resistance. The Senate’s action, on a vote of 79 to 18, provided a victory for the president, who had urged lawmakers to move quickly so he could sign it into law.

And it capped an extraordinary political saga that raised questions about whether the United States would continue to play a leading role in upholding the international order and projecting its values globally.

“Our allies around the world have been watching Congress for the last six months and wondering the same thing: When it matters most, will America summon the strength to come together, overcome the centrifugal pull of partisanship and meet the magnitude of the moment?” Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader, said on Tuesday. “Tonight, under the watchful eye of history, the Senate answers this question with a thunderous and resounding ‘yes.’”

In a statement minutes after the vote, Mr. Biden said he would sign the bill into law “and address the American people as soon as it reaches my desk tomorrow so we can begin sending weapons and equipment to Ukraine this week.”

“Congress has passed my legislation to strengthen our national security and send a message to the world about the power of American leadership: We stand resolutely for democracy and freedom, and against tyranny and oppression,” he said.

The House passed the package on Saturday in four pieces: a measure for each of the three U.S. allies and another meant to sweeten the deal for conservatives that includes a provision that could result in a nationwide ban on TikTok. It sent the legislation to the Senate as a single package that required only one up-or-down vote to pass.

Facing vehement opposition from his right flank to aiding Ukraine, Speaker Mike Johnson structured the legislation that way in the House to capture different coalitions of support without allowing opposition to any one element to defeat the whole thing. The majority of House Republicans opposed the aid for Kyiv.

The components of the bill are nearly identical to one that passed the Senate with bipartisan support in February. It includes $60.8 billion for Ukraine; $26.4 billion for Israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including Gaza; and $8.1 billion for the Indo-Pacific region.

In addition to the package of sweeteners, which also includes new rounds of sanctions on Iranian and Russian officials, the House added provisions to direct the president to seek repayment from the Ukrainian government of $10 billion in economic assistance. That was a nod to a call by former President Donald J. Trump to make any further aid to Kyiv a loan. But the bill allows the president to forgive those loans starting in 2026.

Nine Republicans who opposed the Senate-passed aid legislation in February supported the bill this time. When Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma changed his vote on Tuesday, this time agreeing to advance the legislation, Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the minority leader, gave him a thumbs-up on the Senate floor.

“Seventy-five percent of the bill, the total funding, stays within the United States,” Mr. Mullin said on Newsmax, explaining his support for the bill. “That’s what a lot of people don’t realize. This goes to our defense industry; this goes to replenishing our munitions.”

Fifteen hard-right Republican senators who oppose aid to Ukraine voted against the legislation. Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, who opposed the measure but was one of three Republicans who did not vote on final passage, argued that Congress was “rushing to further bankroll the waging of a war that has zero chance of a positive outcome.”

“Pouring more money into Ukraine’s coffers will only prolong the conflict and lead to more loss of life,” Mr. Tuberville said. “No one at the White House, Pentagon or State Department can articulate what victory looks like in this fight. They couldn’t when we sent the first tranche of aid over two years ago. We should be working with Ukraine and Russia to negotiate an end to this madness.”

Three liberals, Democratic Senators Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Peter Welch of Vermont, as well as Bernie Sanders, independent of Vermont, also opposed the measure. They said they could not endorse sending more offensive weapons to Israel when the government’s campaign in Gaza has killed tens of thousands of people and created a hunger crisis there.

“We are now in the absurd situation where Israel is using U.S. military assistance to block the delivery of U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians,” Mr. Sanders said. “If that is not crazy, I don’t know what is. But it is also a clear violation of U.S. law. Given that reality, we should not today even be having this debate. It is illegal to continue current military aid to Israel, let alone send another $9 billion with no strings attached.”

But the vast majority of senators in both parties supported the legislation, and Senate leaders regarded its passage as a triumph, particularly given the opposition to aid for Ukraine that had built up in the House.

For months, Mr. Johnson and right-wing Republicans in the House had refused to entertain aid to Ukraine unless Mr. Biden agreed to stringent measures to curtail immigration on the U.S. border with Mexico. When Senate Democrats agreed this year to legislation that paired the aid with stiffer border enforcement provisions , Mr. Trump denounced it and Republicans rejected it out of hand.

Then the Senate passed its own $95 billion emergency aid legislation for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan without any immigration measures, ramping up political pressure on the House to do the same. For weeks, the message to Mr. Johnson from Mr. Schumer and Mr. McConnell had been the same: Pass the Senate bill.

In extensive remarks on the Senate floor on Tuesday before the procedural vote, Mr. McConnell cast congressional approval of the aid package as “a test of American resolve, our readiness and our willingness to lead.” He rebuked the naysayers in his party, criticizing those who, he said, would “indulge the fantasy of pulling up a drawbridge.”

“Make no mistake: Delay in providing Ukraine the weapons to defend itself has strained the prospects of defeating Russian aggression,” Mr. McConnell said. “Dithering and hesitation have compounded the challenges we face. Today’s action is overdue, but our work does not end here. Trust in American resolve is not rebuilt overnight. Expanding and restocking the arsenal of democracy doesn’t just happen by magic.”

Ukrainian officials cheered the impending passage of the bill.

Ruslan Stefanchuk, the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, posted a photograph on social media of lawmakers holding American flags inside the chamber in Kyiv, in “gratitude to the United States and to every member of the House of Representatives who supported the Ukraine Aid Bill. We look forward to a similar decision from the Senate.”

“The United States has been and remains a strategic partner that stands shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people in our fight against the russian aggressor!” Mr. Stefanchuk added.

The photograph recalled the scene on the floor of the House on Saturday when Democrats waved miniature Ukrainian flags as they voted for the aid bill. They were rebuked by Mr. Johnson and other Republicans, who called it a violation of decorum and said that only American flags should be displayed in the chamber.

NFL undrafted free agent tracker: Who will sign Cody Schrader, other Missouri football standouts?

going to journey status

Who is going to snap up Cody Schrader?

Six Missouri football players heard their name called in the 2024 NFL Draft between Thursday and Saturday in Detroit.

Defensive end Darius Robinson (Arizona Cardinals, No. 27); cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (Detroit Lions, No. 61); linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper (Green Bay Packers, No. 91); offensive tackle Javon Foster (Jacksonville Jaguars, No. 114); cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine (Denver Broncos, No. 145); and safety/linebacker Jaylon Carlies (Indianapolis Colts, No. 151) each were selected over the course of the seven-round event.

More: Pros and cons of Arizona Cardinals picking Missouri football’s Darius Robinson in 2024 NFL Draft

The haul fell one short of a Mizzou program record, but was the Tigers' biggest draft class since 2015. In 1981, seven Missouri players were called up to the league during the draft, which remains the most in the team's history.

Now, an even bigger contingent of Missouri’s key players from 2023 and NFL-hopefuls will field calls and try to pick up deals as undrafted free agents. At least 15 MU players declared for the draft or signaled they would seek out professional options after last season ended.

That starts with Schrader, the Tigers’ single-season rushing yards record holder, who fell out of the 257-player draft. The ‘Thiccer Kicker,’ Harrison Mevis, also will likely earn an opportunity with an NFL team. At least seven other Missouri players went through pro day and have gone through the draft process.

The Columbia Daily Tribune will keep track and provide live updates of the Tigers who pick up mini camp offers and UDFA deals:

Cody Schrader signs with San Francisco 49ers

That didn't take long.

Moments after the 2024 NFL Draft wrapped, Bleacher Report insider Jordan Schultz reported that Missouri football star Cody Schrader is signing with the San Francisco 49ers.

Schrader rushed for a Missouri single-season record 1,627 yards last season, as he punched in 14 touchdowns.

The once-Division-II Truman State player had one of the most remarkable stories in all of college football, joining Missouri as a walk-on and working his way from deep down the depth chart to the SEC's leading rusher. He finished last season as the eighth-placed player in Heisman Trophy voting.

Now, his next journey is underway, with Kyle Shanahan and the Super Bowl runners up Niners.

Missouri left guard Xavier Delgado signing with Buccs

Missouri's offensive guard Xavier Delgado is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per a report from KPRC2 reporter Aaron Wilson.

Delgado started every game at left guard for the Tigers last season. Missouri's offensive line, which was a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award, given to the nation's top offensive line. He became the Tigers' starter in 2020, and played 59 games over the course of his six-year career.

Marcellus Johnson signs with Giants

Missouri offensive lineman Marcellus Johnson, who was frequently the Tigers' swing tackle during the 2023 season, is signing with the New York Giants, per a report from Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

Johnson played 10 games for the Tigers last season after grad transferring from Eastern Michigan. He made one start at right guard during MU's win over Kansas State. Most of his reps came on special teams, specifically on the Tigers' field goal unit.

Johnson will join former Missouri quarterback Drew Lock with the Giants.

Which Missouri football players are eligible for an undrafted free agent deal?

  • Cody Schrader, running back
  • Harrison Mevis, placekicker
  • Realus George Jr., defensive tackle
  • Jayden Jernigan, defensive tackle
  • Xavier Delgado, offensive guard
  • Josh Landry, defensive tackle
  • Nyles Gaddy, defensive end
  • Marcellus Johnson, offensive lineman
  • Nathaniel Peat, running back

Cameron Monaghan’s Journey to ‘Tron: Ares’ Began Decades Ago

Monaghan expressed his admiration for the film's technology and practical sets.

The Big Picture

  • Monaghan's connection to the Tron franchise dates back to his youth, marveling at the original film's groundbreaking use of CGI.
  • Attending the Tron: Legacy premiere at 16 solidified Monaghan's bond with the series as he embarked on his Disney acting career.
  • Monaghan anticipates that Tron: Ares will continue the legacy, pushing boundaries in visual effects and storytelling.

Collider's Maggie Lovitt caught up with Cameron Monaghan at Calgary Expo, where he shared an intriguing glimpse into his long-standing connection with the Tron franchise, a journey that began long before his casting in the upcoming film Tron: Ares . Directed by Joachim Rønning and starring Jared Leto alongside Monaghan, the film, just like the original four decades ago, promises to push the boundaries of visual effects and storytelling within the iconic digital world.

"I think I first saw the first Tron on a plane when I was younger. It was an international flight. I remember watching the original, and I thought it was from the '90s or something, because it was pretty amazing how a movie from that era could look that amazing , and utilizing computers the way they did," Monaghan said. His early exposure to the original Tron left a lasting impression, marveling at its groundbreaking use of computer-generated imagery.

His relationship with the franchise deepened significantly years later: "Then I went to the Tron: Legacy premiere when I was 16 years old, and had just done my first movie for Disney at the time. So, that was really cool getting to go to the El Capitan Theater in LA and seeing that on a big screen." This experience at the premiere, coupled with his budding career with Disney, tied Monaghan closer to the Tron legacy.

Cameron Monaghan Thinks 'Tron: Ares' Will Be Mindblowing

Monaghan also reflected on the enduring appeal and technological advancements of the Tron films: " And that's a movie that, I think, has now grown a cult fandom, in a similar way that the original Tron did as well, where people thought it was very technologically cool but it's continued to grow. Tron Legacy , I just saw projected in 35MM at the New Beverly last year, and it really holds up, and has that amazing soundtrack by Daft Punk. So I like that those movies have a number of years of separation between them. They don't come out very often, and every time they do, they show a new era of technology and filmmaking."

Looking forward to his own contribution to the series with Tron: Ares , Monaghan expressed his admiration for the film's creative direction: “I think this one, in a very similar way, is going to really push forward what can be done, from a visual perspective." He added, "I would sometimes even come in on days I wasn’t working, because that set was really amazing. A lot of the practical sets were pretty phenomenal, and I would love to go look at those as well.”

Tron: Ares debuts exclusively in theaters on October 10, 2025 . The original is streaming now on Disney+.

Things To Do

Music and concerts, music and concerts | journey’s 50th anniversary tour makes its way to norfolk with a ‘dirty dozen’ in store.

Journey members (from left) Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon and Arnel Pineda. Journey is on its 50th anniversary Freedom Tour 2024 and will perform with Toto in Norfolk.

Journey is back with its 50th-anniversary tour, headlining arenas this spring before spending a chunk of the summer on a stadium tour with Def Leppard.

Guitarist and founding member Neal Schon and keyboardist/guitarist Jonathan Cain say that today’s band has never played better.

“Finally, it sounds like the Journey everybody knows,” Cain said of the group, which formed in 1973 in San Francisco. “It’s back to the ’80s, that’s what it sounds like.”

Journey with special guest star Toto is coming to Scope Friday.

Schon and Cain are the two remaining members going back to the early 1980s when Journey was churning out hits like “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Any Way You Want It” and “Open Arms.” The two reflected on the band during a recent video interview, including on recent lawsuits, disputes and personnel changes, and regaining a level of popularity that has Journey back on the road.

But there were more issues to come – this time between Schon and Cain. Schon sent a cease-and-desist letter to Cain after Cain joined a sing-along of “Don’t Stop Believing” at a November 2022 event for former president Donald Trump. Cain’s wife, Paula, had worked as a spiritual advisor to Trump. Schon took offense to Cain’s performance, noting that Journey never was and never would be a political band.

Then last year, Schon and Cain traded lawsuits over a financial account for the group. The bandmates hashed out their differences without the courts, they said.

“All we really did was get fed up with the legal and having legals talk instead of us,” Schon said. “We talked for a couple of hours and we talked through it all. I think that’s what fixed everything.”

Now Schon and Cain are leading Journey (with Pineda, Castronovo and Jensen) on one of the band’s biggest touring years. Fans can expect to hear Journey’s biggest hits — the “Dirty Dozen” as the band has nicknamed them — with a handful of new or deeper cuts. This makes crafting set lists a challenge but it’s a problem many bands would welcome.

“We just have a massive catalog,” Cain said, “with so many great songs that we don’t get to.”

After the Taliban took over in Afghanistan in 2021, four women — parliamentarians, ministers and journalists — were stripped of their positions of power. Resettling in Canada, the documentary An Unfinished Journey (part of the 2024 Hot Docs Festival in Toronto) documents their continued fight for freedom for women, women's right to education, and pressuring international power to force the Taliban to reverse gender apartheid policies.

Co-director Amie Williams has been living in Greece since 2018 and found out that a group of women airlifted out of Kabul were set to arrive in Athens. She met them through the Melissa Network , an organization for migrant and refugee women in Greece.

"We heard that these women were coming and we discussed, maybe this would be a really good opportunity to go meet them, see what's happened, talk to them, break bread with them, try to give them some solidarity," Williams told Yahoo Canada .

Moving the production to Canada, following three women on their journey, eventually adding a fourth in Canada, Toronto-based co-director Aeyliya Husain was particularly attracted to telling this story.

"I'm interested in women's issues that show my cultural background and about women that shatter the stereotypes and tropes of Muslim women," Husain said. "I met with the women as they started to come here to Canada, ... and then we eventually started filming with them."

Homaira Ayubi served four terms in Afghan parliament and we see her attending protests and meeting politicians in Canada. Zefnoon Safi, from Laghman Province, has a 20-year political career, but had to come to Canada without two of her daughters, who remain trapped in Afghanistan. Nargis Nehan was a minister who worked closely with Afghanistan’s ousted president Ashraf Ghani.   Journalist Nilofar Moradi had openly criticized the Taliban in her work, and resettled in Ottawa with her husband, six-year-old son and seven-month-old daughter.

Throughout An Unfinished Journey , we see these women mobilize a community, crafting a real call to action for women, and governments, all over the world.

"We wanted to highlight everything that the women have accomplished and that they are still accomplishing and doing," Husain said. "They have to have hope, right, in order to carry on, in order to connect."

"They were powerhouse heroines in their own right, in Afghanistan. They overcame incredible obstacles to get to where they were," Williams added. "I just felt like the world needs to know this, that these are hopeful stories, these are stories of incredible strength that all women can benefit from hearing."

'As long as Afghan girls can't go to school, no woman should ever think her life is free'

In terms of creating an environment where all these women felt comfortable to open up to the filmmakers, Williams stressed that they never pushed for their participation, originally in Greece.

"I think they appreciated us visiting them, there was a group of them that were living far from the city and in a rundown hotel, and they were getting quite bored, I think, and just waiting around for the next big bureaucratic hurdle they had to overcome to get their paperwork to Canada," Williams said.

"They also had a lot to protect. ... It's forced migration, they didn't want to be there. The last thing they probably wanted to do was be in a film or talk to a journalist, or a reporter. But it was me and young Afghan and Iranian refugees. So I think we came across very differently than say a CNN crew. It took time and certainly when they got to Canada, it helped that Aeyliya's from a similar cultural background. And it took a lot of time in Canada. It took us over two years to make this film."

"You're building a relationship with them, ... you start off slowly and you start talking to them, and you're open and transparent," Husain added. "You're trying to involve them in the process of what will we film and trying to get them engaged in it."

At the core of this film is that this isn't a story that only impacts Afghan women, it's really a message for all women around the world.

"A lot the women, in even in the film, say, we're not just fighting for rights for women in Afghanistan, but for women all over the world," Husain said. "We need to fight for returning education to young girls, allowing women to go out of their homes, they're basically being erased from public spaces and this is really dangerous."

"We need to look at it as a global community and go, we cannot allow this to happen here, because we cannot allow this to spread and happen to other countries in the world."

Women's rights have been under attack in recent years, including, but certainly not limited to, abortion rights in the U.S .

"It's really terrifying to watch what's happening in the United States from afar and I do think that ... as long as Afghan girls can't go to school, no woman should ever think her life is free," Williams said.

"This isn't just not going to school, it means you can't leave your home. So they're being erased from public view. And I don't see how any woman anywhere can watch this happen and not want to do something."

The filmmakers highlighted that part of creating this project was also to establish an impact campaign.

"We want to get countries like Canada, that has a feminist foreign policy, to make a statement about gender apartheid, and to get it codified in international law," Husain said. "There are a number of senators who are working on this, and we had a screening and Parliament Hill, ... to push them to actually make a statement and to define what gender apartheid is too."

Upcoming screening of An Unfinished Journey in the 2024 Hot Docs Festival is on April 27 at 10:00 a.m. ET at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema in Toronto

Iowa's Cooper DeJean selected by Philadelphia in 2024 NFL Draft: What are Eagles getting?

going to journey status

Iowa football defensive back Cooper DeJean has been selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft . He is the 40th overall pick.

DeJean slipped out of the first round, making him a high-value pick on day two since he initially wasn’t widely expected to be available that late.

Former Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta was selected in the second round of last year’s NFL Draft and went on to have a fantastic rookie season.

"All I wanted was an opportunity to play," DeJean told reporters Friday. "Obviously, there was a little of frustration yesterday but I'm excited with where I'm at. Being in Philadelphia, being able to play for a great organization. And I'm excited to get started there, get out there and get rolling. Get back to playing football.

DeJean's highlights, journey to NFL Draft

DeJean is a homegrown success story. He attended OABCIG High School in Ida Grove, Iowa, where he was a four-sport phenom. He was not, however, a highly sought-after recruit.

DeJean blossomed into a star at Iowa. After having a minimal role as a freshman, DeJean broke out in demonstrative fashion in his second season with the program. DeJean recorded five interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. DeJean has a knack for making plays around the ball, a skill that was on display during a Willie Mays-like pick he made against Rutgers in 2022.

Major expectations followed DeJean leading into the 2023 season, and he came through. DeJean delivered an iconic moment at Kinnick Stadium when his punt-return touchdown gave Iowa the lead against Michigan State. In similar circumstances, DeJean nearly did it again against Minnesota, but his return was called back due to an invalid fair call — a ruling that became ultra-controversial.

DeJean's 2023 season — and subsequently his time as a Hawkeye — came to a frustrating end. He suffered a fractured fibula during a practice leading up to a November matchup with Illinois and was forced to miss the final four games of the season.

Still, DeJean was honored as the Big Ten's Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year and the Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year.

"If you asked me three years ago if I'd be in this position, I'd tell you no," DeJean said in December while he was still weighing his future. "To be honest, when I first committed here and got here, I didn't even know if I could play at this level, coming from a small-town school in Iowa. But I've just tried to come in and work my hardest, and I have great coaches and teammates around me who've helped me learn the game on a deeper level."

What DeJean brings to the Philadelphia Eagles

One of the major benefits of drafting DeJean is that he has been a key part of some dominant defenses at Iowa and played for an incredibly well-respected position coach. Phil Parker, the 2023 Broyles Award winner and Iowa's defensive coordinator, also serves as the defensive backs coach, meaning that he worked extensively with DeJean. Iowa has sent a handful of defensive backs to the NFL under Parker, including Geno Stone, Desmond King and Dane Belton.

"I just know he's a good football player," Parker said recently of DeJean. "I know that wherever he goes, he's going to be successful, and I think the opportunity, the way these guys study the game of football kind of helps them out in their further career, and I think they've seen that with other guys that went through this program and are playing in the league right now."

DeJean is so electric with the ball in his hands that he even briefly appeared on offense for Iowa last season. That doesn't come as a surprise, however, as he showcased his playmaking skills as a quarterback in high school. DeJean has garnered some interest as a punt returner in the NFL. There has also been some chatter about whether he projects in the NFL at cornerback or safety, but only time will tell where he fits in best at the next level.

"I don't have a preference (what position I play in the secondary),” DeJean said Friday. “I'm a football player. So you put me on the field, I'm going to go play football. Whether it's inside, outside, at safety, wherever it is. It’s the game I love to play. As long as I'm on the field out there, I'll be happy and I'm going to give it my all every time I step on the field."

DeJean's stats

  • Career stats with the Hawkeyes: 120 tackles, seven interceptions, one punt-return touchdown.
  • His most productive season defensively came in 2022, when he tallied 75 tackles and five interceptions.
  • 2023 stats: 41 tackles, two interceptions.
  • At the 2024 NFL Combine, he was measured at 6-0 1/2, 203.
  • "Playing in the Big Ten, it's a pretty physical game and that's what I love about the game of football --- how physical it is," DeJean said Friday. "Being able to go out and hit people each and every down. And having those matchup on the outside, as well. But also being able to come downhill and being an impact in the run game, as well. So I think playing at Iowa has prepared me well for the next level."

DeJean player comparison

  • Jevon Holland, according to Cory Giddings .
  • C.J. Gardner-Johnson, according to Charlie Campbell.
  • Christian Gonzalez, according to DraftDive.
  • "There's probably not a position on the perimeter he couldn't play," Ferentz said of DeJean in 2022. "You'd have to change your offense if he was your quarterback. But I'm pretty sure he could be a pretty good running back, I know he could be a really good receiver, and you think about the four positions on defense in the back end plus the nickelback, the slot guy, so there's five right there.
  • "It's just an unusual skill set, if you will. Micah Hyde probably the closest thing maybe we had, maybe Desmond (King), but Micah is probably the better reach there. Then the most amazing part is (DeJean) wasn't recruited, especially in this day and age where there's no secrets. On top of it, he's a great young guy and just a great team member."
