Sting announces sa tour in 2023.

Multiple Grammy winner Sting will perform at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town and at the SunBet Arena, Time Square, in Pretoria on 1 and 4 February, respectively.

The two shows are courtesy of The Cherrytree Music Company and Big Concerts. They form part of Sting’s My Songs Tour in support of his 13th solo studio album My Songs , which was released in 2019. The tour began in May 2019 in Paris and went on until November 2019 at The Met in Philadelphia. The tour was due to resume in 2020 with a (rescheduled) eight-date residency from 15 August to 2 September in Las Vegas, but was postponed and rescheduled to August 2020 and then to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sting will be accompanied by an electric, rock ensemble, with English singer Joe Sumner as the guest.

“Sting’s My Songs concert is an exuberant and dynamic show featuring his most beloved songs, written throughout the 17-time Grammy Award winner’s illustrious career both with The Police and as a solo artist,” Sting’s team said.

Born on 2 October 1951, Sting was the frontman, songwriter and bassist for new wave rock band The Police from 1977 to 1984. He launched a solo career in 1985 and has included elements of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new-age, and worldbeat in his music. As a solo musician and a member of The Police, Sting has received 17 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, a BMI Award and a Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, among others.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Police in 2003 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording in 2000. In 2003, Sting received a CBE from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for services to music, was made a Kennedy Center Honoree at the White House in 2014 and was awarded the Polar Music Prize in 2017.

He has released more than 10 albums, including The Soul Cages, Symphonicities, The Last Ship and Songs from the Labyrinth.

Tickets to the two shows will go on sale here from 2 September at 9 am while The Discovery Bank pre-sale will begin 31 August at 9 am.

Sting To Tour South Africa in February 2023

The Cherrytree Music Company and Big Concerts have confirmed that Sting will perform special My Songs concerts in Cape Town, South Africa and in Pretoria, South Africa in February 2023. 

Sting’s My Songs concert is an exuberant and dynamic show featuring his most beloved songs, written throughout the 17-time Grammy Award winner’s illustrious career both with The Police and as a solo artist.

Following a sold out six-night residency at the London Palladium, My Songs was hailed “a masterclass” by The Times; “Sting remains an undeniably skilled performer with a gold-plated back catalogue”. A musical journey taking in hits like ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Shape of my Heart’, ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Demolition Man’, the concert was described as  “a rare treat” by The Telegraph and saw Sting praised as “near peerless” by The Guardian with “sublime pop alchemy” . Fans can also expect to hear ‘Englishman In New York,’ ‘Every Breath You Take,’ ‘Roxanne,’ ‘Message In A Bottle’ and many more.

On tour, he will be accompanied by an electric, rock ensemble. Special Guest Joe Sumner appears at all newly announced dates. Members of Sting’s Fan Club will have the opportunity to access exclusive pre-sale tickets prior to the general public by visiting www.sting.com .

STING’S MUSIC CAREER

Before kicking off his solo career, Sting was the frontman for award-winning band The Police between 1977 and 1984. After leaving the band, the England-born musician started his solo career and since then, he has become one of the world’s most respected musicians.

Over the years, Sting has collaborated with the likes of Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock, Shaggy, Melody Gardot, Eric Clapton and more. 

With 15 albums under his belt, Sting is showing no signs of slowing down in the music industry!

‘MY SONGS TOUR’

Sting’s My Songs tour is in celebration of his 13th studio album of the same name, originally released in May 2019. The tour started in Paris, France and later travelled to Philadelphia in the United States.

The 2022 edition of the tour kicked off in Le Grand-Quevilly in France and South Africans will be able to see Sting in February 2023! 

The legendary musician will perform in Cape Town at the Grand West Arena on Wednesday 1 February, before heading to the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday 4 February.

Following a sold out six-night residency at the London Palladium, My Songs was hailed “a masterclass” by The Times; “Sting remains an undeniably skilled performer with a gold-plated back catalogue”. A musical journey taking in hits like ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Shape of my Heart’, ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Demolition Man’, the concert was described as “a rare treat” by The Telegraph and saw Sting praised as “near peerless” by The Guardian with “sublime pop alchemy”.

Fans can also expect to hear ‘Englishman In New York,’ ‘Every Breath You Take,’ ‘Message In A Bottle’ and many more.

Premier live entertainment promoter, Big Concerts, has announced that Sting, will be coming to South Africa. He will be performing live on the  4 th  of February 2023 at the SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.

What Can I Expect From The Sting Live Performance?

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner better known as Sting is a talented English musician and vocalist with over 17 Grammy Awards to his name! My Songs is the title of his latest studio album that was initially released in 2019 and now he’s bringing his #MySongs world tour to South Africa in 2023!

It’s going to be an evening of Sting hits where you’ll here songs such as; hits like ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Shape of my Heart’, ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Demolition Man.’ If you bank with Discovery, you’re in luck as you’ll have first access to tickets on Wednesday 31 August 2022 . Whilst other fans will only be able to access the sale on Friday, 02 September from 09:00. Ticket prices start from R745 per person depending on where you choose to sit.

‘My Songs’: Sting adds two South African dates for world tour

Grammy award-winning musician Sting will be performing in Cape Town and Pretoria in February 2023. Here’s everything you need to know…

17-time Grammy award-winning musician Sting will be jetting down to South Africa for two performances in 2023. This marks the multi-talented star’s second performance in Mzansi since 2012. Sting will play two shows in February next year in Cape Town and Pretoria. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 2 September but a select group of people can get their tickets earlier…

STING’S MUSIC CAREER

Before kicking off his solo career, Sting was the frontman for award-winning band The Police between 1977 and 1984. After leaving the band, the England-born musician started his solo career and since then, he has become one of the world’s most respected musicians.

Over the years, Sting has collaborated with the likes of Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock, Shaggy, Melody Gardot, Eric Clapton and more. 

With 15 albums under his belt, Sting is showing no signs of slowing down in the music industry!

‘MY SONGS TOUR’

Sting’s My Songs tour is in celebration of his 13th studio album of the same name, originally released in May 2019. The tour started in Paris, France and later travelled to Philadelphia in the United States.

The 2022 edition of the tour kicked off in Le Grand-Quevilly in France and South Africans will be able to see Sting in February 2023! 

The legendary musician will perform in Cape Town at the Grand West Arena on Wednesday 1 February, before heading to the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday 4 February.

Ten Shows Revealed With Additional Cities & Dates To Soon Be Announced  

Tickets available starting wednesday, april 12 with fanclub presale  , general onsale begins friday, april 14 at 10am local on sting.com  .

The Cherrytree Music Company and Live Nation have confirmed that Sting will take his acclaimed My Songs World Tour across North America in September and October. Following performances in United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore  earlier this year, Sting’s My Songs tour returns to North America on September 5 at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, ON with additional dates in Boston, Vancouver, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, and more. Additional shows will soon be announced in Wantagh, Hollywood, Atlanta, Portland, Seattle, Reno, Dallas, Houston, and Austin. 

Sting’s My Songs concert is an exuberant and dynamic show featuring his most beloved songs, written throughout the 17-time Grammy Award winner’s illustrious career both with The Police and as a solo artist. Fans can expect to be taken on a musical journey with timeless hits like ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Shape of my Heart’, ‘Roxanne’, ‘Englishman In New York,’ ‘Every Breath You Take,’ ‘Roxanne,’ ‘Message In A Bottle’,  ‘Demolition Man’ and many more.  

On tour, Sting will be accompanied by an electric, rock ensemble. Special Guest Joe Sumner will be appearing at all newly announced performances. 

TICKETS: Members of Sting’s Fan Club will have the opportunity to access a special pre-sale by visiting sting.com , starting Wednesday, April 12. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week. The general on sale for My Songs 2023 North American leg will start Friday, April 14 at 10am Local Time on sting.com

The Sting 2023 My Songs Tour Has A lot Of Police Goodies

Sting reactivated his ‘My Songs’ world tour in Abu Dhabi on 27 January and in the past week performed four times in South Africa before bringing the tour to Australia next week.

The Sting ‘My Songs’ setlist features eight classics from The Police. Also before the Daily Telegraph send their cadet travel writer to a show to review, we will warn you there are three new songs, which if you care to listen to the new Sting album ‘The Bridge’ before the concert won’t be as scary of the travel writer might make out.

The mid-section of the show so far has been devoted to a bracket of ‘Ten Summoners Tales’ songs, a Top 10 album for Sting in Australia in 1996.
