The Weeknd has announced a string of 2023 European and Latin American tour dates for his upcoming 2023 After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour.

The Diamond-certified artist’s announcement comes as an expansion of his recently-concluded North American tour. The European leg of the shows will kick off on June 10 in Manchester, UK at Etihad Stadium. Other stops include shows in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and more. The tour ends on October 15 in Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.

Kaytranada and Mike Dean will join The Weeknd on all European dates.  More dates for 2023 will be announced soon, according to a press statement.

The Weeknd’s North American tour generated $130 million, including a $5 million check the artist donated to charity.

According to the press statement, “United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye will again partner with the U.N. World Food Programme to contribute funds from the second leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. €1 from each ticket sold across Europe, £1 in the UK and the $1 equivalent in countries across Latin America will go to this important cause.

“The fund raised money during the North American leg of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour t-shirt, and a $500,000 donation directly from The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s corporate partners, tour venues, World Food Program USA board of directors and supporters also stepped up to contribute, as well as tour sponsor Binance, who contributed US$2 million to the fund.

“We are deeply appreciative and humbled by The Weeknd’s steadfast support, as well as that of his loyal fans and partners,” said Barron Segar, World Food Program USA president and CEO. “Abel is an inspiration to us all, and through his efforts, thousands of families will have food security and hope for a better future.”

“On stage and off stage, The Weeknd is bringing hope and happiness to millions of people across the globe,” said David Beasley, WFP executive director. “His inspirational XO Humanitarian Fund is a new dawn in the struggle to end global hunger at a time when we are seeing funding shrink and the threat of famine grow. As WFP’s Global Goodwill Ambassador, he is opening hearts and minds to our life-saving cause and offering millions the chance of a brighter tomorrow.”

The upcoming tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album, After Hours ( hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as his critically-acclaimed album Dawn FM , which was released January 2022.

the weeknd european tour dates

The Weeknd has just made a thrilling announcement for his fans across Europe. He will be embarking on a highly-anticipated European tour, including a stop at the prestigious King Baudouin stadium in Brussels, Belgium, on July 11, 2023.

The Canadian artist is determined to deliver a stadium-sized show. This 27-date tour will kick off in Manchester on June 10 and conclude in Estonia on August 12, before moving on to South America. Supporting the singer on this tour will be none other than Grammy-nominated artists Kaytranada and Mike Dean .

-he interacted with the crowd

-he sings AMAZING live

-chill atmosphere

-performers/musicians were smoking weed on stage

-Abel took a longgg time to get on stage, we were there for almost two hours before he did

-crowd was very drunk & rude (not his fault)

This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.

The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.

As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

On Monday (Nov. 6), it was revealed by Billboard that The Weeknd postponed upcoming dates for his “After Hours Til Dawn Tour.” “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour,” said a statement shared by the singer’s representative. “New dates will be announced next year and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can’t wait to be there with you!”

Live Nation also shared a message about the unfortunate news on the artist’s event page. “We understand fans will be disappointed and [we are] focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule. We will make a further announcement as soon as possible,” it read.

The Canadian chart-topper was set to head Down Under for 11 dates with stops planned for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. The first performance of that leg was scheduled for Nov. 20. Veteran DJ-producer Mike Dean and XO Records signee Chxrry22 were slated to provide support.

The “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” kicked off back in 2022 and brought The Weeknd to a wealth of cities in North America, Latin America, and Europe. Different records have been broken throughout its duration, including two at London Stadium for attendance and tickets sold. As previously reported by REVOLT , the yearlong run surpassed Michael Jackson’s 1987 “Bad Tour” as the highest-grossing ever for a Black artist.

The Weeknd spoke on his massive tour in an interview with Variety . “The performances are mostly in the daytime, so I get to see the audience. It’s easier to connect with their eyes and feels a bit more intimate, so instead of a performance, it feels like more of a conversation with them,” he explained. “Every night I’m changing up the set — I never do that, it’s usually very formulaic — so I’m spicing it up and going into deep, deep, deep cuts and older songs.”

Breaking: The Weeknd has cancelled his Australian tour

After postponing due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the Starboy has officially scrapped all of his sold-out shows

Leah Glynn

Nooo! After months of confusion following the announcement in November last year that the Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it has just been revealed that the entire run of sold-out Aussie gigs have been cancelled.

The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) had been scheduled to play four epic shows at Marvel Stadium on December 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2023, with performances also confirmed in both Sydney and Brisbane. None of these will go ahead now, with Ticketek confirming that full refunds will be issued to all ticketholders

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” reads a statement on the ticketing company’s website.

It’s expected that refunds will take approximately 30 days to appear in the accounts of ticketholders. And if the Weeknd does indeed decide to head Down Under again (c’mon, we gotta hold out hope), those people will be able to access a priority pre-sale purchase window for new tickets. If sitting in that stressful Ticketek waiting room is something you’d do all over again just to see the Starboy in real life, there’s a waitlist you can join here .

There’s been no word from the Weeknd himself regarding the Aussie cancellations, and he didn’t publicly comment on the initial postponement – so we’re not holding out hope for statement (or apology!).

All those tears you were saving for another day? Yep, it’s time to shed ‘em. We’ll keep you updated with new info as it comes in.

The Weeknd has cancelled his After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour of Australia

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd kneels on a stadium stage in an all white outfit white singing into a microphone

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Update 23/04/2024 :  The Weeknd  has cancelled the Australian and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn  tour.

In an email sent out to ticketholders from Ticketek , full refunds will be made to everyone while the company continues to "work through the rescheduling process with the artist".

Although the tour is still very up in the air, Ticketek encouraged fans to sing up to a waitlist to get access to a priority pre-sale when tickets go  back  on sale. It's not clear when - or if - this will happen.

Update 3/11/2023  - The Weeknd has postponed the Australia and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour due to "unforeseen circumstances".

In a statement released on Friday afternoon (Nov 3), The Weeknd shared that the tour will be rescheduled for 2024, with confirmed dates to come.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour," he said.

"New dates will be announced next year and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can't wait to be there with you!"

A spokesperson from the tour's promoter Live Nation said the company is "focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule".

The After Hours Til Dawn tour was set to kick off in Brisbane on November 20, and take in several dates down the east coast.

Those with tickets will be contacted with the new dates when they're locked in, and if you can't make it you can get a refund from where you bought your tickets.

Original story:  It's been a long six years but The Weeknd is finally coming back down under for some frankly monstrous shows at the tail end of the year.

If you've been following along on TikTok and Instagram, you'll have seen the enormous productions Abel Tesfaye has been putting on for his After Hours Til Dawn stadium world tour. It's a real spectacle, and now that energy is coming down under for a run of big performances in November and December.

The stadium run has been totally sold out to date, breaking records all over the place and with 1.6million fans filling huge venues right across Europe. It's got everything – flames, a massive catwalk stage, a huge moon, a big chrome femme figure, an MF Doom -inspired mask. The visuals are truly next level.

And the crowd work, well, that really speaks for itself.

The Weeknd is taking over multiple stadiums in Australia with this mammoth tour. He'll be smashing into Meanjin/Brisbane on November 20 before heading down to Gadigal Land/Sydney on November 24 and then rounding it out in Naarm/Melbourne on December 1.

Update:  Huge news for everyone who's desperate to get to these stadium shows, The Weeknd has locked in extra dates in all three cities!

Update 11/09/2023:  In exciting news for Naarm fans, The Weeknd has locked in a fourth show at Marvel Stadium, bumping out his huge Aussie run to nine dates.

He'll now be sticking around for an extra appearance on Tuesday 5 December, heating things up at the start of summer.

Tickets for the new show are on sale from 2pm local time on Wednesday 13 September, and you can find out more over on the tour website . Get your group chat sorted right now because these tickets are going to go fast.

Check out the important dates and details below.

The Weeknd’s highly anticipated return to Australia and New Zealand has officially been cancelled.

The stadium outing was first postponed in November 2023 , just three weeks before it was due to kick off due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Australian event ticketing company Ticketek informed ticketholders on Tuesday (23 April) that the Canadian singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, would not be making the trip Down Under.

“The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” Ticketek revealed.

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” they continued.

“The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled”

Ticketek is encouraging ticket holders to join the waitlist for a forthcoming announcement to gain access to a priority pre-sale.

Originally, The Weeknd was due to perform 11 dates in the region including at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Sydney’s Accor Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Eden Park in Auckland.

The Weeknd launched his After Hours til Dawn stadium tour in summer 2022 and grossed US$130 million from 19 shows that year.

He returned to the road in June 2023 and completed 42 shows in Europe and Latin America, earning $220,985,529 at the box office from a ticket total of 2.2 million.

During the European leg, the star smashed Wembley Stadium’s record for sales with a traditional concert set up with 87,000 tickets sold. The artist also set a new attendance record for London Stadium after drawing 160,000 fans over two nights in July 2023.

The Weeknd Cancels Australian Leg of ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Stadium Tour

The Weeknd has canceled the Australia & New Zealand leg of his tour

Last year in November, The Weeknd announced he was postponing the Australia & New Zealand leg of his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour. Now that leg has been cancelled entirely with full refunds offered.

The original postponement was describes as ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and the cancellation email received by ticket holders does not give an official reason for cancellation. Instead, it offers to make all ticket holders whole and to continue working “through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in the process of being rescheduled,” the email to ticket holders begins. “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.”

“Ticket holders of the [cancelled tour] shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced. In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt-in and join the waitlist.”

“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action. Patrons should allow 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”

Prior to this cancellation, The Weeknd has not visited Australia in six years while touring. A peek at the official site for The Weeknd’s tour reveals there are no upcoming events—so Australian fans are out in the cold on this one yet again. Despite the cancellation, Abel Tesfaye has yet to post about the cancelled dates on social media. His most recent post is an Instagram post from April 13, insinuating that a new album will be dropping soon.

Fans stopped by social media to take their pot shots. “Bro completely forgot about his Australia tour,” one fan writes under the album announcement post.

Lankum puts the metal in Irish folk music

On tour across Europe, the Dublin quartet triumphs with their dark, intense versions of traditional songs.

Lankum in Dublin, Ireland, February 2023.

Lankum is a bogeyman who appears under other spellings (Lamkin or Lambkin) in a gloomy traditional song said to have originated in Scotland or Northumbria, in the north of England. In fact, it belongs to the murder ballad genre, as it recounts the murder of a newborn baby, and then its mother, by the merciless character.

In Ireland, the oral nature of this story was captured on tape by Irish Traveller singer John Reilly (1926-1969) under the title "False Lankum," which in 2016 would provide a new name for the most innovative and astounding band on today's folk scene: Lankum, based in Dublin.

"He's evil incarnate," said Radie Peat, a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in the quartet, as are her three comrades. "He kills the baby with a pin, then his mother, who has been awakened. The blood is collected in a basin by an accomplice nurse." Her companion Ian Lynch added, however, that "in some versions, it's made clear that he's not acting out of pure malice: He's a mason who's never been paid by the lord of the castle, and he's out for revenge."

'Political stance'

Noted over the past decade for their powerful and disturbing retellings of centuries-old songs, Lankum chose False Lankum as the name of their fourth album (Beggars/Rough Trade), without singing the horrific tale. Released in March 2023, this impressive record, hailed outside traditionalist circles, has propelled the band into another dimension. False Lankum took second place in the Irish charts, just behind Lana Del Rey, but ahead of Depeche Mode, U2 and The Weeknd.

This is no mean feat for music played on old-fashioned instruments, far removed from the cheerful green folklore exported on St. Patrick's Day. Lankum prefers brown hues, which bring up smells of stout and peat. They wander on a rainy moor, on the quayside of a damaged port or in an industrial wasteland. "Death is omnipresent," Peat confirmed. "But there are also beautiful love songs, like 'Newcastle' [included in a 1651 collection of country dances titled The English Dancing Master ] and 'Lord Abore and Mary Flynn,' even if this one is very tragic." This time, the monster is the mother: She poisons her son, who married against her will.

The unlikely success of False Lankum also enabled the band to embark on an ambitious European tour, but it was unfortunately thwarted by family problems. Ten dates were scheduled in France, with an expected concentration in the West. Only two survived, with an additional date in Nantes in November.

Current events also interfered when a concert was canceled in November 2023 in Leipzig, Germany, this time by decision of the organizers, due to the musicians' "political stance." They found out about this while doing the sound check. "We had expressed our support for the people of Gaza and given charity concerts," explained Peat, who noted "a big difference in perception between Germany and Ireland, where empathy and solidarity with the Palestinians is strong, which is linked to [their] history with occupation."
