We're into the final day of this year's race, so a Tour de France stage 21 live stream is going to be a hot ticket if you want to watch the riders make their final journey into Paris. The 2023 Tour de France is coming to an end and stage 21 is the final chance for the sprinters to battle it out on Paris' most famous avenue, the Champs Élysées. All of the jerseys are wrapped up so we should see the typical champagne-filled procession in and around Paris.

The flying Belgian should have Mathieu van der Poel and co. working to bring him to the final trip up the Champs Élysées safely before he looks to win the final Tour stage for the second year running. Groenewegen was closest to him last year and will be one of the other sprinters left after a brutal Tour trying to dethrone the green jersey wearer.

Stage 21: Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to Paris Champs-Élysées (Sunday, July 23) The final stage of the 2023 Tour de France is the typical processional stage in and around Paris. It starts at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome which will play host to the track cycling at next year's Olympic Games, before looping back east towards the French capital. The 115.1km route is incredibly flat and only has one category four climb, but that won't threaten Giulio Ciccone's lead of the polka-dot classification. It's all set for the sprinters' royale on the Champs-Élysées with the fast men and leadouts ready to fight for position and battle for the win after completing nine laps of the Parisian circuit. The long finishing road on Paris's most famous avenue has long played host to the final Tour and was last won by Jasper Philipsen, holder of the green jersey, who will be the favourite for the day.

The herculean GC battle Tour de France between leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and second-placed Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) ended on stage 16 and 17 with the Dane first delivering a stunning blow in the time trial before a knockout punch on the Col de la Loze.

Vingegaard has a comfortable lead in the Tour de France GC standings of 7:29 on Pogačar, winner of stage 20 , and 10:56 on the Slovenian's teammate Adam Yates.

The penultimate stage delivered the final skirmish for riders fighting to move up in the top 10 of the general classification. Simon Yates  (Jayco-AlUla) moved up to fourth overall while Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) lost one spot and is now in fifth place.  Meanwhile, Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) sealed the KOM classification.

All eyes now turn to the sprinters whose biggest day of the year is the finish on the Champs Elysées in Paris.

NBC hold the broadcasting rights for the Tour de France in the USA. The race will be broadcast live on NBC, as well as the network's streaming service, Peacock TV .

In 2020, Pogacar became at 21 the second-youngest winner in race history, after Henri Cornet in 1904, and the first man in more than 60 years to pedal in the yellow jersey for the first time on the final day of a Tour.

In 2021, Pogacar was more dominant, taking the lead on stage eight and holding it through the end of the Tour. He won by 5 minutes, 20 seconds, the largest gap since 2014.

Again, Team Jumbo-Visma should provide the biggest threat. That could be in the form of fellow Slovenian Primoz Roglic , who was second at the 2020 Tour, or Dane Jonas Vingegaard , who was second at the 2021 Tour.

Two faces of recent Tours will be absent. Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl left sprinter Mark Cavendish off the team, so he will miss a chance to break his tie with Eddy Merckx for the most career stage wins (34).

The team also omitted panache-filled Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe , who is still working his way back from major injuries suffered in an April crash.

Past Tour champions Geraint Thomas and Froome are also in the field.

How to Watch the Tour de France

From cable TV to live streaming, here are your options for watching the 2022 Tour.

The 2022 Tour de France begins on Friday, July 1st with a 13.3km individual time trial through Copenhagen, Denmark. (Yes, Denmark!) So it’s time to start planning how you’re going to watch it.

Whether that means streaming from your phone, starting your morning with the previous day’s highlights, or inviting your friends over for a viewing party, the options for watching the Tour de France are plentiful.

For the Fanatics

In general, NBC offers the most accessible and affordable (and legal) options for American viewers to watch the Tour de France through its Peacock Premium streaming service for $4.99 a month. For ad-free coverage you’ll need a subscription to Peacock Premium Plus, which runs $9.99 a month. Eligible Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex customers and Cox Contour customers may already access Peacock Premium for free.

You could cancel your subscription at the end of the Tour, but consider this: by subscribing to Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus you’ll also have access to the full men’s and women’s Tours as well as other races covered by NBC and its partners, including the 2022 Vuelta a España and next year’s editions of Paris-Nice and Paris-Roubaix.

Riders to Watch

Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) has won the last two Tours and starts this year’s race as the overwhelming favorite. He can do it all: climb, descend, time trial–even the cobblestones of Belgium and Northern France have proven to be no match for the 23-year-old. Assuming he avoids crashes and bad luck during the Tour’s dangerous first week , he should have little trouble taking his third win.

Pogačar’s biggest challenge should come from Jumbo-Visma’s co-captains, Slovenia’s Primož Roglič and Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, who finished second to Pogačar in 2020 and 2021, respectively. If they can play to one another’s strengths and avoid worrying about which one is their team’s “true” leader, then they might have a chance to dethrone the two-time defending champ.

The INEOS Grenadiers have won seven of the last ten Tours de France with four different riders–so clearly they know what it takes to win the world’s biggest bike race. But Pogačar’s proven to be a tough nut for the British super team to crack. This year we expect them to count on a mix of both old and new in their bid to reclaim the yellow jersey, with co-captains Geraint Thomas, who won the Tour in 2018, and Daniel Martinez, who’s riding only his third Tour and his first as his team’s protected rider, expected to lead the way.

Other riders to keep an eye on include Australia’s Ben O’Connor, Russia’s Aleksandr Vlasov (BORA-hansgrohe), and Colombia’s Rigoberto Uran (EF Education-EasyPost).

What channel shows the Tour de France?

You can watch the Tour de France on NBC , USA Network, and Peacock . You’ll get the most live coverage from Peacock, which streams every stage and the daily Tour de France Pre-Race Show . USA Network shows a mix of live and encore coverage, while NBC carries select portions of the race—primarily an encore of the final stage in Paris.

2023 Tour de France schedule

This year’s Tour de France begins on July 1 in Spain before crossing into France on the third day. As usual, the 21-day route features a solid mix of flat to mountainous terrain. Two rest days break up the action before racers make their way to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 23.

2023 Tour de France Femmes schedule

Just as the men’s tour wraps up in Paris, the Tour de France Femmes takes off from Clermont-Ferrand. This is the second edition of the women’s race and features an eight-day route ending with an individual time trial in Pau.

Unfortunately, NBC doesn’t show a lot of race coverage—mostly encore presentations of early and late stages. But it never hurts having an antenna in your TV setup.

The 110th Tour de France will stream on Peacock and air on NBC and USA Network throughout July 2023. Peacock offers the best way to watch Le Tour because it streams every stage from beginning to end. It also carries the entire women’s race, which begins the same day as the men’s competition ends.

If you’re a cycling fan without access to fast and reliable internet, most cable and satellite TV services have NBC and USA Network. Those channels don’t show as much Tour de France coverage as Peacock, but you’ll still see the most vital moments of the race.

This year’s Tour de France is less ‘La Grande Boucle’ (The Big Loop) and more a giant belt around the country’s waist. Riding west to east the ‘Grand Depart’ took place outside France for the second year in a row across the border in the Basque Country in northern Spain. Make sure you know how to watch a Tour de France free live stream from anywhere.

From here the race is headed west through the Pyrenees across legendary mountains such as the Col du Soudet and the mighty Col du Tourmalet before heading to the Massif Central and a return to the iconic Puy de Dome. Not climbed since 1988 this dormant volcano will provide a spectacular arena for the culmination of stage 9 and the end of the long first week.

Continuing west to The Jura mountains there is a summit finish on top of the Grand Colombier and then two days later another summit finish in the Alps at Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc. With just one time trial on the route: a 22km mainly uphill test on stage 16. This is without doubt a race for the climbers whose battles will finish in the forested peaks of The Vosges on the slopes of the evil Col du Platzerwasel.

As for the contenders, the two main protagonists, Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) and Jonas Vinegaard (Jumbo-Visma) are on paper so far ahead of anyone else that the rest appear to be just support actors.

Vinegaard’s dominant display at the recent Critérium du Dauphiné, where he won at a canter, suggests he is in the same sparkling form that saw him take last year’s race but the condition of his great rival Pogačar is not so certain.

The Slovenian he hasn’t raced since he crashed in Liège-Bastogne-Liège on April 23, breaking his wrist. Until that point pretty much all he had to do was to start a race to win it. His return of 12 victories from 19 starts is remarkable in the modern age but having not raced for so long will he be back at his very best?

The final stage of the Tour is half procession and half eyeballs out racing up and down the cobbles of the Champs Elysée. What starts with photo opportunities and glasses of champagne ends with the most highly prized sprint stage in front of the thousands that line the route. Hitting the famous boulevard the peloton as is tradition was all together but not for long as the irrepressible Tadej Pogacar decided to shake things up and go out on the attack. 

Could he defy the might of the peloton and take the unlikeliest of victories? Also no, and he wasn’t the last to try and audacious attack before everything came back to gather for a final mass gallop to the line. All eyes were on Jasper Phillipsen, this year’s sprint king but just as it looked like he had got it, across surged Jordi Meeus (Bora-Hansgrohe) to take his first ever stage win, and what a stage to do it on. 

Yellow jersey wearer Jonas Vingegaard crossed the line a few seconds later flanked by his whole team, his second victory in two years confirmed, which in the end was a very comfortable one and looks likely to be the foundation of a period of total dominance.

NO CHRIS FROOME! That was the shock headline, but let’s be honest ONLY Chris Froome thought he was going to be on the start line. Micheal Woods and Dylan Teuns are the riders most likely to deliver but they will need the rub of the green to pull off a stage win, but dreams do come true at the Tour.

Lotto–Dstny

Once upon a time Lotto–Dstny could rely upon Victor Campenaerts to win from a solo break or Caleb Ewan to take a sprint stage but no longer. Although these scenarios are both still a possibility they will more likely be looking to younger members of their team to make it into a break and bring home a win for the Belgian team.

Team TotalEnergies

Gone are the days when Peter Sagan just had to turn up to take the green points jersey such was his dominance, but even the brightest stars fade and in his last Tour it’s unfortunate that he will be little more than a footnote. Unless, that is there is one final bit of magic left in those legs and oh how the cycling fans would love to see that.

Uno-X Pro Cycling Team

Made up entirely of Danes and Norwegians this is the first Tour de France for Uno-X and led by their aging talisman the great Alexander Kristoff they will be keen to leave a mark on it. Young stars Søren Wærenskjold and Torstein Træen will also be keen to show that the Norwegian team are here on merit and justify their selection.

Alpecin–Deceuninck

In the recent Netflix Tour de France documentary series Jasper Philipsen was referred to as Alpecin–Deceuninck’s ‘Plan B’. This is no longer the case, he is well and truly ‘Plan A’ now, of course along with the ‘other Plan A’, the sensational Mathieu Van der Poel. A once in a generation rider who on his day can beat anyone at anything.

EF Education–EasyPost

EF Education–EasyPost have a team full of winners, each one capable of getting in a break and taking a stage it’s just deciding who will get the chance each day. I’m sure Rigoberto URÁN and Richard CARAPAZ have aspirations of a high finish in Paris but I suspect reality will bite when the manure hits the fan and they will get dropped like a hot stone.

Groupama–FDJ

This Tour is going to be Thibaut Pinot’s swan song, the darling of the French media came agonisingly close to winning the Tour but never delivered the victory the nation craves. He is on paper riding to support team leader David Gaudu but with a question mark the size of Paris hanging over the young French rider’s form maybe Pinot will be let off the leash for one last chance of glory before retirement.

Ineos Grenadiers

With uncertaintly over whether Egan Bernal will ever get back to his best after his near fatal crash in 2022 team Ineos turn up to the Tour not looking at the overall victory for probably the first time in 10 years. The priority will be hunting stages, unless that is the talented Tom Pidcock can get into the mix because we really do not yet know the limits of his abilities.

Intermarché–Circus–Wanty

All eyes are on their star rider Biniam GIRMAY to see if he can deliver the first African stage win. He has already proved himself a champion but will have his work cut out in sprints to beat the other feast men. WIth the backing of a whole continent though this could inspire him to make history in this year’s event.

Lidl - Trek 

The young Mattias Skjelmose could be in the hunt for the third step on the podium if he still has the form he shown at the Tour de Suisse this but it’s likely Lidl - Trek will find the most success hunting stages. Led by their former world champion Mads Pedersen they also have a very good hand of cards to play whether it be Skjelmose or Ciccone in the hight mountains or Pedersen, Simmons and Stuyven on tough lumpy stages.

Movistar Team

Movistar will be hoping Enric Mas is at his very best as he will need to be if he wants to try and challenge Pogacar and Vingegaard. He did show signs of very good form earlier in the year but has since gone off the boil a bit.

Soudal–Quick-Step

With Remco Evenepole rested, Soudal–Quick-Step don’t have a rider for the general classification so their main focus will be to deliver Fabio Jakobsen to the front on sprint days and hope the mercurial Julian Alaphilippe can re-find the form that once made him the most exciting rider on the planet.

Team Bahrain Victorious

With newly crowned British champion Fred Wright and the ever-aggressive Matej Mohoric leading their hunt for stages, and Jack Haig aiming to get in the mix for the overall, Bahrain Victorious have many cards to play.

RIDERS: Jack HAIG, Phil BAUHAUS, Nikias ARNDT, Wout POELS, Pello BILBAO, Matej MOHORIČ, Mikel LANDA and Fred WRIGHT.

Team DSM–Firmenich

Once again the French will be dreaming of Romain Bardet stood on the top step of the podium in Paris but, alas, I’m afraid it’s very unlikely this will happen. Expect him to shine in the mountain stages and if he is VERY lucky he could get a win but the best he can really hope for is a top 10 finish.

RIDERS: Chris HAMILTON, Alex EDMONDSON, Kevin VERMAERKE, John DEGENKOLB, Sam WELSFORD, Matthew DINHAM, Romain BARDET and Nils EEKHOFF.

Team Jayco–AlUla

Team Jayco–AlUla take a two pronged attack to the Tour with Dylan Groenewegen favorite for the sprint stages and Simon Yates hoping to be in the mix for a very high finish in Paris.

Tour de France 2023: How to Watch a Free Livestream

Three grueling weeks of calf-destroying climbs and tense sprints await the world's best riders as the 110th Tour de France gets underway this weekend.

Kicking off with the Grand Départ, which takes place this year in Bilbao, Spain, the route makes its way across Basque Country before heading up the Pyrenees, across the Massif Central and eventually concluding on the cheering streets of Paris.

This year's tour is once again being billed as a rematch between defending champion Jonas Vingegaard (on the Jumbo-Visma team) and two-time winner Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) as the great rivals go head-to-head for the third year in a row. 

Pogačar is battling back from a broken wrist sustained two months ago, while last year's Giro d'Italia champion Jai Hindley and Ineos Grenadiers star Egan Bernal will both be looking to wrestle away the iconic yellow jersey. 

Veteran British sprinter Mark Cavendish will be attempting to claim the record for most Tour stage wins, with the Astana Qazaqstan ace currently level with Belgian legend Eddy Merckx on 34.

Tour de France 2023: Where and when is it?

The Tour de France begins with Stage 1 in Bilbao on Saturday, July 1, and ends with its traditional passage along the Champs-Élysées in Paris on Sunday July 23.

Tour de France : Final stage of glory in Paris

The final sprint of the Tour de France always takes place on Paris’ famous avenue. On 18 July, as it has every year since 1975, the last stage of the famous cycling race will end on the Champs-Élysées.

With 3,383 kilometres for the legs to tackle and some 403,000 pedal strokes over three weeks, taking part in the Tour de France is no easy task.

In view of the conclusion of the 21st and final stage of the Grand Boucle , the peloton will give it all they’ve got. Before parading in the capital, the riders will have sweated to climb the 30 passes of the 2021 race, rising in their saddles to pick up momentum and clenching their teeth in the vertiginous descents.

The Champs-Élysées in all its majesty

From Brittany to the Alps, from the Occitanie to the Pyrenees, the riders will have been so focused on their performance that they won’t have soaked up much of the photogenic landscapes of France, broadcast across 100 TV channels.

But by the end of the efforts, what a reward: the majestic Champs-Élysées, with the blue-white-red wake of the famous Patrouille de France fly-past. Nobody else has such a claim on the famous avenue except the French football team, winner of the World Cup in 2018.

Standing on the podium at the bottom of the famous Parisian avenue, with the setting sun at the Arc de Triomphe and Grande Arche de la Défense as a backdrop, the winner of the Tour will have – like all his fellow riders – accomplished the Parisian ritual.

Established in 1975, this involves riding up and down the Champs-Élysées eight times, totalling 1,910 legendary metres separating the obelisk of the Place de la Concorde from the star of the Place Charles-de-Gaulle.

A ride beside the Louvre Pyramid

Seen from above, the spectacle of the peloton winding like a long ribbon decorated around the Arc de Triomphe is magical. From the pavements lining the route of this final sprint, the enthusiasm of the public pushes the riders on through the Quai des Tuileries, Place des Pyramides and Rue de Rivoli in Paris.

Will they take a look as they go past? Not sure. Almost lying on their handlebars, they traditionally take this last stage at a crazy pace, overlooking the cobblestones and prestigious landmarks around. Louis Vuitton, Guerlain, Ladurée and even, recently, the Galeries Lafayette, make up the exclusive backdrop of the peloton’s arrival on the Champs-Élysées.

Le Tour de Romandie 2024 est la grande étape de préparation avant le Tour d'Italie qui aura lieu du 4 au 26 mai.

L'épreuve débute ce mardi 23 avril par un prologue extrêmement court autour de Payerne (2,28 km), suivi de trois étapes en ligne, un contre-la-montre individuel et se conclut avec une étape en circuit à Vernier pour la cinquième et dernière étape.

CYCLISME. Tour de Bretagne 2024, c'est parti ! Parcours, cartes des étapes, équipes engagées... tout savoir sur cette 57e édition

25 équipes, 150 cyclistes, 7 jours de course... le coup d'envoi de la 57e édition du Tour de Bretagne est donné ce 25 avril. Qu'est ce qui attend les coureurs ? Nous avons fait le point avec Christophe Fossani, le directeur de course (republication)

Cette année encore, pour la 57e fois, le Tour de Bretagne cycliste va sillonner les routes de la région du jeudi 25 avril au mercredi 1 mai en traversant les cinq départements historiques. 1260 km au total répartis en 7 étapes, aux profils bien différents qui permettront à des coureurs de s'échapper et aux puncheurs d'emporter des sprints.

Une épreuve toujours autant "rugueuse"

L'épreuve qui est en préparation depuis l'année dernière réservera son lot de surprises, mais cherchera à rester fidèle à sa réputation.

On va rester fidèle à nos valeurs, c'est-à -dire que le Tour de Bretagne est réputé pour être une épreuve rugueuse. On en a mis un peu pour tout le monde chaque jour. Christophe Fossani, directeur de course du Tour de Bretagne

Pour l'organisateur, les points forts de cette édition sont "dès le deuxième jour" avec une arrivée sur Pontivy "très difficile". Puis " un passage très compliqué sur la commune de La Gacilly avec un circuit d'arrivée là aussi très difficile". Toujours selon Christophe Fossani, "la sixième étape sera un juge de paix avec un passage de 45 km très dur du côté du Couesnon". Il rappelle enfin que "la dernière étape se termine à Dinan et on a vu dans le passé que lorsque cette ville est l'arrivée finale, hé bien, le classement général se finalise à Dinan".  

1ère étape, de Locmaria-Plouzané (29) à Plougonvelin (29) - Jeudi 25 avril

La première étape de cette 57e édition emmènera les coureurs de la banlieue brestoise en partant de   Locmaria-Plouzané jusqu'à Plougonvelin (Finistère) à quelques kilomètres du départ. Mais entre-temps, les participants auront parcouru 146 km dans le nord du département en longeant la mer du côté de Landunvez, Lampaul-Plouarzel et le Conquet.

"C'est la première fois que l'on fait une arrivée à la pointe Saint-Mathieu. Ce sera somptueux" promet Christophe Fossani.

2e étape, de Milizac-Guipronvel (29) à Pontivy (56) - Vendredi 26 avril

Cette deuxième étape partira du Finistère pour s'enfoncer dans la Bretagne intérieure, passant par Huelgoat, Gourin, Plouray, jusqu'à Pontivy dans le Morbihan.   Une longue étape de 206,2 km.

"On traverse les monts d'Arrée, c'est juste magnifique et ce n'est pas obligatoirement une étape très très dure sauf si ça roule vite. Par contre, l'arrivée à Pontivy, ça va être compliqué", analyse le directeur de course.

3e étape, de Pontivy (56) à Guérande (44) - Samedi 27 avril

La troisième étape traversera le Morbihan, avec un passage pour les grimpeurs avec la célèbre côte de Cadoudal. L'arrivée sera jugée à Guérande en Loire-Atlantique à l'issue de 180,8 km.

"Je suis heureux que l'on aille à Guérande, car la dernière fois que le Tour est allé à Guérande, le classement général a explosé ... à cause du vent"   explique, sourire aux lèvres, Christophe Fossani.

4e étape, du Croisic (44) à La Gacilly (56) - Dimanche 28 avril

Lors de cette quatrième étape , les coureurs partiront du Croisic en Loire-Atlantique pour rejoindre le Morbihan jusqu'à la petite cité de caractère de La Gacilly, 167,5 km plus loin.

"C'est une étape du Centre Bretagne, où on a un peu de tout, un peu de plat, un peu de toboggan, les vraies routes bretonnes" selon le directeur de course.

5e étape, de La Gacilly (56) à Saint-Méen-Le-Grand (35) - Lundi 29 avril

C'est de La Gacilly où ils sont arrivés la veille que le peloton prendra la route de cette cinquième étape pour se rendre en Ille-et-Vilaine, direction plein nord. Une incursion dans les Côtes-d'Armor puis retour en Ille-et-vilaine pour l'arrivée qui sera jugée à Saint-Méen-Le-Grand.  

"On est très content d'arriver à Saint-Méen-Le-Grand, la patrie de Louison Bobet. Ce n'est pas une étape compliquée même si on a un petit passage à 18 % à Jugon" .

6e étape, de Saint-Onen-La-Chapelle (35) à Louvigné-Du-Désert (35) - Mardi 30 avril

Le tracé de 192,5 km de cette sixième étape n'empruntera que des routes d'Ille-et-Vilaine, partant de Saint-Onen-La-Chapelle pour se rendre dans le pays de Fougères avec une arrivée à Louvigné-du-Désert.

"Sur cette étape où il y a une partie toute plate, on a cherché les endroits pour casser le classement général et on a placé cinq côtes de 12 à 18 % sur des petites routes et là sur 45 km, on aura un tracé mécaniquement usant. Les coureurs vont être fatigués."

7e et dernière étape, de Le Hinglé (22) à Dinan (22) - Mercredi 1er mai

Le Tour de Bretagne 2024 se terminera par une septième étape qui formera une boucle de 159,3 km dans le nord des Côtes-d'Armor avec une arrivée à Dinan.

Dinan est une arrivée classique pour le Tour de Bretagne, que ce soit une arrivée d'étape ou finale, "plus de 30 arrivées sur Dinan depuis 1967" souligne Christophe Fossani. Une arrivée à laquelle il tient car "une arrivée mythique avec un parcours sur les pavés du centre-ville, c'est ... un peu chez moi aussi" . Et de rappeler une page d'histoire du Tour de Bretagne : "pour sa toute première édition en 1967, le Ruban Granitier [c'est comme cela que s'appelait l'épreuve à l'époque, NDLR], est parti le 1er mai 1967 de Louvigné-du-Désert et est arrivé à Le Hinglé".

Le plateau : "des coureurs qui seront au Tour de France dans deux ou trois ans"

Pour cette 57e édition, il y aura 25 équipes, soit 150 coureurs. Une épreuve qui a vocation à accueillir les jeunes pousses confirmées du moment et d'être "un tremplin" pour ces futurs cadors.

On est content d'avoir toutes les réserves World Tour qui ont répondu présentes, et ça c'est bien, car ils seront pour la plupart les coureurs qu'on verra sur le Tour de France dans deux ou trois ans. Christophe Fossani, directeur de course du Tour de Bretagne

The 77th Tour de Romandie packs in 11,000m of climbing across six stages in Switzerland

Last year's winner Adam Yates and third-placed Damiano Caruso both return to this six day-stage race in Romandie, the French speaking area of west Switzerland to battle again in the region's beautiful mountain scenery.

Starting with a minuscule 2.3km prologue in the town of Payerne, the 77th Tour de Romandie will cover a total of 657km and pack in over 11,000m of climbing with a time trial on stage three and summit finishes on both stages two and four at Les Marécottes and Leysin.

Favourite to repeat his victory of last year will be Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) who will be backed up by a strong team including Pavel Sivakov, Felix Großschartner and Juan Ayuso. Leading the challenge will be the ever improving Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) winner of the recent Giro d’Abruzzo Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Qazaqstan Team) and young French star Lenny Martinez (Groupama - FDJ).

The course isn’t just for the climbers though as with a prologue and a mid-race time trial many TT specialists are on the start sheet too including Josh Tarling and Ethan Hayter from (INEOS Grenadiers) and Rémi Cavagna (Movistar Team).

Stage four, the Queen stage of the race lived up to all the hype providing a pulsating finale on the finishing climb. The win and race lead were both up for grabs and it was Richard Carapaz (EF Education–EasyPost) who took the stage, but only just from the fast approaching Florian Lipowitz (Bora-Hansgrohe).

Behind the race for the overall was just as exciting as overnight leader Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) cracked opening the door for another young Spaniard Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers) to pull on the yellow jersey.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race. 

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.
