Rest assured, we've curated a list of wardrobe essentials to achieve flawless travel and airport outfits, whether you are exploring a new destination for business or pleasure.
When it comes to the best travel outfits for women, accessories play a critical role in keeping you comfy and organized. All you have to do is remember a comfortable pair of shoes , compression socks to keep things moving, an eye mask that's an upgrade from the one the airline provides, and a chic shawl that doubles as a blanket. And of course, no travel outfit would be complete without a fashionable (and functional!) carry-on bag on your arm or atop your luggage . This bag should house all of your essentials and still level up your airport outfit. Keep reading for some of the best travel and airport outfit ideas your next trip.
Spanx AirEssentials Wide-Leg Pants
Sometimes nothing less than sweats will do, and here is where Spanx really excels. Oprah picked these for her 2022 Favorite Things , saying, “You might know Spanx for its shapewear, but it also does fantastic cozy clothes. When I tell you this set feels light as air, I’m not kidding. It’s my new leisure suit. The perfectly loose-and-lightweight fabric is like buttah!”
Missky Long-Sleeved Oversize Pant Set
You might look like you're already on vacation if you show up to the airport in this neutral pants and button-down set. Available in two bright and two neutral colors, and sizes small to 2XL.
Vuori Elevation Trouser in Midnight Heather
Vuori is celebrated for its super-cozy pieces. The best thing about these pants? They look put together while the stretch-knit fabric is as comfy as your favorite Vuori loungers. The high-rise waist and loose fit of the leg give you an effortlessly stylish silhouette.
Girlfriend Collective Compressive Pocket Legging
Leggings are a perfect choice for traveling wear. And these have Oprah's seal of approval, as they were picked for Oprah's 2022 Favorite Things list. Eco-friendly and size-inclusive (the range goes through 6XL), these compression leggings are available in a plethora of hues. Plus, they feature double-side seaming and pockets.
Dr. Scholl's Time Off Platform Sneakers
Celebrated for their consciously comfortable footwear, these sneakers from Dr. Scholl's are tricked out with tons of features for all-day comfort. Inside, anatomical cushioning and arch support keep you covered while a lightweight, anti-slip platform sole protects on the outside. This minimalist sneaker looks just as good with a matching suit as it does a low-key sweat set.
J. Crew Cashmere-Wool Travel Wrap
Let's be honest, you can't always count on the airline's blankets to keep you warm, and some even leave annoying fluff behind. Stay warm and stylish with your own wearable blanket by way of this travel necessity from J. Crew that comes in eight different colors.
Chico's Travelers No Tummy Pants
Chico's Travelers collection is made from wrinkle-resistant fabrics in comfortable silhouettes. Thanks to a pull-on waist and front darts, these No Tummy Pants are flattering and always look put together. If red isn't your vibe, they come in three other colors as well as the bestselling wide-leg Hutton pants in black.
Athleta Everlasting Button-Down Top
A classic button-down is a travel essential that elevates any in-transit look. Athleta's Everlasting button-down has all the details you need: a lightweight, odor-control stretch fabric and longer length for coverage. Luckily, you can cover all your neutral bases with navy, black, and white. Plus, it comes in an extended range of sizes from XXS to 3X.

Spanx Women's AirEssentials 1/2 Zip Sweater
Sometimes nothing less than sweats will do, and here is where Spanx really excels. Oprah picked this top for her 2023 Favorite Things , saying, “Wow. Wow. Wow. May I tell you I got this set last year? I wore it in a photo shoot for O Quarterly and never looked back...” Why not pair it with the coordinating wide-leg pants for a full sweatsuit?
Dr. Motion Compression Socks with Enhanced Cushioning (3 Pack)
Compression socks are always a good ideal for traveling. We recommend these styles from Dr. Motion that offer graduated compression of 8 to 15 mmHg while providing arch support. Unlike other socks that can feel scratchy or clammy, these are soft, moisture-wicking, and subtly cushioned.
Hoka Transport GTX Sneakers
Hoka's sneakers are cult Oprah Daily office favorites and podiatrist-approved . Not only do they look good with just about everything, but the Transport GTX also offer quick-toggle lacing for an easy on-off, as well as a full-length EVA midsole for the highest level of cushioning and arch support.

32º DEGREES Lightweight Recycled Poly-Fill Shirt Jacket
Sometimes a full on coat is not needed for travel, but you can never be quite sure of the weather. That's why a a little packable shacket—part shirt, part jacket—comes in. In black, olive green, or dark blue, the jacket will be your go-to for travel. Keep in mind, it runs slightly big in order to allow for comfortable layering of hoodies or sweaters underneath. There's a reason why Oprah tapped it on her Favorite Things list .
JW PEI Aylin Canvas Cellphone Crossbody Bag
Making sure you have all your essentials when going through airport security can be tough, but with this crossbody, you'll have your phone and cards right at hand.
K. Carroll Accessories Taylor Tote Red

Naadam Original 100 Percent Cashmere Sweater
Warm, soft, and chic—few things are as reliable as a plain cashmere sweater. At under $100, Naadam's perfect crewneck comes in core and limited-edition hues. Pro tip: Order a size or two larger than your usual for an ultra-cozy fit. And what's more, the sweater is machine-washable (yes, you read that right).
Birdies Vesper Seven-Layer Cloud Comfort Loafers
Birdies' classic loafer will elevate any airport look. They're crafted with tumbled Nappa leather, a no-slip rubbber sole, and the brand's signature seven-layer footbed for ultra-cushy support. Plus, the Vesper comes in sizes 5 to 12, and a range of colors like silver leather and cappucino with raffia accents.
Asutra Silk Eye Mask & Pillow
Oprah chose this eye mask for her 2023 Favorite Things list. "Sleeping with a mask is life-changing—I cannot tell you how much the quality of my sleep has improved," she said. 30+ Cute And Comfy Travel Outfits
Outfits , Style
Traveling is composed of different mini-adventures: going to the airport, waiting for the next layover, going to brunches, dinners, field trips, night markets, museums, and more. No matter where you are going on a vacation, you want to make sure that you’re dressed comfortably and are ready to travel.
Two crucial factors that you must remember when you pick outfits for travel are context and appropriation. Some places (e.g synagogues, temples, museums, etc) may require you to dress modestly, so doing a brief research on the place you’re visiting is important.
Comfort is also something you should consider when picking an outfit. When you travel, it’s best to keep it on the comfy and safe side. Wear clothes that you have already worn before or try doing a “dress rehearsal” for your new clothes before your trip so you don’t end up with a piece of clothing that’s uncomfortable once you’re already stuck on a plane. You would want to wear something that you know works.
And, of course, you can’t forget about style. Adding a bit of style and thought into your outfit will not hurt unless you take away the comfort from the equation. Always pick your pieces with both comfort and style present.
I’ll share some of my favorite outfit pieces and outfit combos next. Otherwise, scroll ahead to check out 30+ travel outfits for inspo!
Invest in Basics:
Investing in basics can give you the opportunity to pack light on your trip. Bring a couple of “repeatable” pieces that are not easily spotted. It doesn’t mean that you will be wearing one boring outfit the whole way, it just means packing something versatile and something you can mix and match.
This is particularly important if you’ll be traveling a lot. For example, you might be flying a few different times during your trip and taking a train. You don’t need tons of different outfits just to get from one point to another!
Of course, bring in some trendy pieces to combine with your tidy whities and your sleek blacks.
1. Leggings
Leggings are kind of a travel staple. I literally never get on a plane without them. If you’re on a trip, especially a tour or an airport layover, you would want to keep it flexible but stylish. Instead of a dress, wear a cute but casual top (like a crew neck sweatshirt or sweater) over leggings.
2. White/Black Sneakers
Classic white/black sneakers are a travel must-have. You just can’t go without them, especially on a plane or in a car. A pair of classic white/black sneakers are the epitome of comfort and style. Plus, these sneakers can definitely be used during the rest of your trip.
And besides, tired feet are the ultimate spoilsport. Wearing pretty but uncomfortable shoes may cause blisters, keeping your head out of the fun. A snug pair can keep your feet in the best condition.
3. Classic White Tee
An all-around white tee is another wardrobe (or suitcase in this circumstance) must-have. It is as versatile as it can get! Once you’re at your destination, you can wear it with a maxi skirt, tailored pants, shorts, and culottes — the possibilities are endless. Plus, when in doubt, you can always throw on a white tee for your plane ride or road trip.
4. Denim Jacket
No matter the season, a good ol’ denim jacket is the best lifesaver. It is stylish, comfy, and thick — perfect for warming up for a quick nap at the airport. It looks great with black, white, gray, and beige. Pairing it with a floral ensemble is also a good idea as it balances the elements present by adding a classic and neutral show.
5. Lightweight Jacket
Alternatively, you can bring a lightweight jacket to the airport during the summer. The sun may be up and about, but surely, you can’t survive in the airport or the plane with a crop top without catching a bit of a cold. Choose a comfortable but still cute jacket to dress up a pair of leggings.
On the other hand, if you like to keep a light suitcase during colder months, a pocketable down jacket is your best bet.
6. Leather Jacket
A leather jacket is the best alternative to a denim jacket if you’re looking for something thick, stylish, and durable. If your style is edgier, a leather jacket is the best travel companion.
This can also elevate your outfit pretty quickly.
7. Crew Neck Sweatshirt
I’m loving the crew neck sweatshirt right now. It can be layered with so many different outfit pieces (jacket, leggings, etc.) and is so comfy but trendy.
Comfy And Cute Outfit Ideas
Here are my favorite cute and comfy outfit ideas for your road trip, plane ride, or general day of travel.
Denim Jacket + Crop Top + Sweats + White Sneakers
Crop top and sweats? Sloppy. Add in a nice denim jacket and a pair of sneakers? Super stylish. Traveling with comfort and style just takes a little statement piece to stand out!
Black Hoodie + Black Pants + Blazer + Black Sneakers
Want to make an edgy street style appearance as soon as you get to your destination? Adding a little unique twist can make up for it. You’ll be ready to rock the streets when you land.
White Collared Blouse + Knit Sweater + Black Leggings + Black Sneakers
Going on a business trip? You don’t have to wear sweats to stay comfortable during a long trip. Wear a nice knitted sweater over a white collared blouse for a presentable, stylish, and comfy fit. You’ll never have to worry about seeing a client on your flight.
Crop Sweater + High-waist Leggings + Sneakers
Want to keep it simple? You don’t have to make a lot of fuss – especially if you’re rushing about or if you’re just trying to keep it a hundred percent comfy.
Oversized Sweater Dress + Sneakers
Traveling in the cold seasons? An oversized sweater dress and a pair of sneakers can keep you snug and cozy in one go. This is one of my favorite looks for a road trip or train ride during the fall/winter.
Knit Crop Sweater + Black Biker Shorts + White Sneakers
A carefree ensemble. Put on a nice knit crop sweater and a pair of biker shorts so you can move swiftly and freely during long waiting times. I would bet for a Kim Kardashian-inspired ensemble (beige crop sweater + black biker shorts + bulky sneakers).
White Shirt + Ripped Jeans + Jacket on waist + White Sneakers
Don’t know what to wear? Wear what you already have! With an all-around white tee paired with distressed jeans, you can easily come up with a complete stylish fit. For an added accent, you can put on a jacket or sweater on waist that can come in handy when it starts to get cold in-flight.
Black Sports Bra/Crop Top + Leggings + Oversized Coat + Sneakers
Going on a quick trip? A sports bra top underneath a nice oversized coat can give you a chic on-the-go aura – like you’re waiting to get on the next plane for a yoga session in a different city. Love the vibe!
Grey Shirt + Denim Jacket + Black Pants + White Sneakers
You can never go wrong with monochrome. Black pants and a nice loose grey shirt can make a nice outfit for quick coffee trips during a layover. A denim jacket can keep you warm when the A.C. is on high!
Striped B&W Tee + Silk Scarf + White Pants + White Sneakers
Want to travel like a Parisian? A striped tee and a printed silk scarf can give you a classy, chic, and sophisticated aura. Personally, the best outfit to get croissants with.
Vintage Rock Band Tee + Leather Jacket + Washed Denim Pants + Sneakers
If your style is more hipster-like, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t rock a vintage band tee on your trip. The best example of this ensemble would be one of Kendall’s favorite fits. For the jeans, I would prefer to wear distressed black than dyed denim. But it’s all up to you!
White Tee + Black Jeans + Grey or beige Cardigan + Sneakers
Wearing a cardigan is like wearing a blanket. If you’re dreaming of a comfy, cozy trip, you should get invest in a high-quality cardigan.
Where To Buy Comfy Travel Pieces:
Converse is one of the best cult classic brands out there. Starting out as a basketball shoe, it has grown into a stylish wardrobe must-have. No matter what your personal style is, a pair of Chucks can seamlessly blend into it. Plus, they have a variety of colors to choose from. Personally, I would pick their Black All-Star Chucks , but playing with colors is a fun way to add spark to your outfit.

Alternative to the classic All-Star pair, Vans play a healthy competition with Converse. It started out as a skate shoe, eventually growing into a must-have pair in hipster communities. If your style is composed of rock band tees, distressed jeans, plaid — Vans is a good brand to consider.
If you have a bit more budget, a pair of classics from Nike is a great addition to your travel fits. My favorite is a pair of white Air Force casual sneakers that I usually pair with neutral ensembles, monochrome outfits, and printed dresses! It is a bit bulkier than a pair from Converse and Vans, but it balances the volume in some of my outfits.
If you’re a sneakerhead, there are a lot of other choices from Nike as well – a pair of Jordans look good with any comfy travel outfit as well.
American Apparel
American Apparel is good at providing high-quality basics and stylish clothing. A lot of their pieces are inspired by trendy silhouettes, but they are all grounded in versatile and classic elements. Crop tops, skirts, and denim are some of my favorites from them. Plus, they’re a hundred percent American-made!
Uniqlo is a home for affordable high-quality, technical, comfy, and stylish pieces. This is the haven for people who are passionate about packing light. Find pocketable down jackets, windbreakers, vests, and Airism (lightweight) technology tees that are guaranteed accessible — no matter your budget.
H&M has everything for the trendy traveler. Find rock band tees, distressed tops, cut-out crop tops that look laid-back and fashionable. They also have the best selection of sweaters in my opinion. From knits, crops, cotton, and more!
If you’re a fan of DIY-inspired clothing, you can find a lot of distressed jeans and cut-out shirts from the store. I’ve always loved DIY, but being able to buy clothes that are close to my imaginings always comes in handy. And H&M almost always gets what I have in mind
Along with H&M, you can mix up your travel wardrobe with classy and “trendy basics” from Zara. I particularly love their neutral and classy palettes (beige, cream, black, gray). And their coats are always on point!
Nordstrom is home to luxury brands like Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Bottega, Veneta, Coach, Burberry, and Jacquemus. I love bringing a small belt bag that can fit my travel needs (passport, ID, wallet, keys, etc) along with a tote where I can fit a book to keep me company but I don’t keep important belongings in a tote where I am most likely to replace. In that way, you don’t end a trip empty-handed.

I Travel 5 Times a Year—These Easy Outfits Have Never Once Failed Me
As a semi-recent Los Angeles transplant, I've made so many travel plans over the past two years to take advantage of my new West Coast life, whether it's an international flight to Tokyo or multiday road trip to Sea Ranch, just north of San Francisco. And when I was living in New York City, a quick four-day trip across the Atlantic to London or Paris felt like a breeze. Then there are the long-haul flights I've done from L.A. to Monte Carlo and from Orlando to Hong Kong that take up to a full day of travel. And I've done all this with just a carry-on , mind you, so it's safe to say that I'm kind of a travel and packing expert. This is why I rounded up 20 of the best travel outfits if you're sitting on a plane, in a car, or walking 10 miles in a day to explore your vacation destination.
In theory, your vacations are filled with a never-ending supply of chic new outfits that are more than deserving of a few Instagrams, but the reality is that your travel outfits need to be equal parts stylish and comfortable. Yes, achieving that balance is possible, and we have the stylish looks of the below fashion girls to prove that looking good and dressing functionally can coexist.
From roomy jeans and breezy dresses to versatile boots and bold sneakers that can withstand any mileage, scroll down for 20 travel outfits you'll want to copy for any upcoming out-of-office dates.
Coat + White Tee + Jeans
Ogling this Rimowa suitcase situation. But a shaggy jacket and unique jeans will dress up any white tee.
Shop the key pieces:
Jacket + Bold Sneakers + Comfy Pants
Comfortable pants and shoes are key whether you're on a plane or walking 10,000+ steps, but they don't have to feel drab. Add pops of color with your accessories.
Matching Sweatsuit + Sneakers
A matching sweatsuit is a must in any wardrobe. With a fashionable pair of sneakers, you can wear it both on and off the plane.
Quarter-Zip Sweater + Long Coat
Bundle up in a monochrome 'fit like this cream quarter-zip and coordinating coat. Finish it off by adding bottoms with stretch and a trusty pair of shoes.
Bomber Jacket + Jeans + Shoulder Bag
For a day in a new city where you're constantly moving, it's best to stick to the basics like a roomy shoulder bag, your go-to pair of jeans, and a zip-up jacket for transitional temps.
Leggings + Oversize Sweater
There's something about gray that makes any outfit look so much more comfortable. Throw on a cream sweater with your gray leggings for some contrast. Then put on your headphones so no one bothers you while you're waiting to board.
Track Pants + Statement Coat + Flats
Track pants are a staple that can look dressy given the right styling. Take a cue from Helena and add the one statement coat you packed this trip with a pair of sporty bottoms.
Jumpsuit + Big Tote
A one-and-done kind of outfit is ideal for travel. When you have a jam-packed day that starts when the sun rises, you don't want to waste any time picking out what to wear. This is where a jumpsuit or boilersuit comes in handy.
Midi Skirt + Crossbody Bag + Sweater
A crossbody you can keep close to you will ensure your belongings are secure on public transportation. An A-line skirt, a sweater, and statement kicks complete the look.
Flowy Top + Wide-Leg Jeans + Flats
I tend to turn to less-fitted silhouettes on vacay to keep things easy and effortless. A flowy top and wide-leg jeans are just the solution.
Maxi Skirt + Knit Polo
For an ensemble that looks pulled together but actually takes five minutes to put on, a knit polo and maxi skirt are all you need. Add your crossbody or top-handle bag to really level things up.
Breezy Pants + White Button-Down
Don't deny yourself roomy silhouettes! This is the kind of outfit that can take you off the plane and straight to lunch if you don't have time to decompress and change outfits at your hotel.
Quilted Coat + Shoulder Bag + Chunky Sneakers
A coat that doubles as a blanket and/or a pillow on the plane and one you can wear on the daily is a great travel piece if you're heading somewhere chilly. Pack a pair of chunky dad sneakers and a shoulder bag, and you're ready for a day of exploring.
Jacket + Plaid Skirt + Sneakers
Going somewhere with pretty mild weather? Opt for plaid skirt and sneakers. You can add a bomber in this rich brown shade if the temperature fluctuates.
Knit Sweater + Jeans + Bold Accessories
A cozy sweater, straight-leg jeans, and red accessories are an outfit formula you'll want to remember. And definitely make sure to stop by a café while you're out to fuel up before you hit the pavement again.
Wrap Coat + Comfortable Boots
Rainy weather won't get you down if you have a fab coat to stay dry in. A trench or raincoat is a must if it's a rainy forecast during your travels, but you can liven it up with bright footwear.
Coat + Sneakers + Baggy Jeans
Layer up with a scarf and beanie if your long coat isn't enough to keep you warm. Layering pieces that can go with several outfits are always great to pack, and as someone who lives in sunny Los Angeles, I now relish the trips where I can finally pack my versatile winter clothes.
Track Jacket + Comfy Jeans
I've worn Adidas shorts on so many trips now, and I've found that sporty pieces are the best to pack. They are durable, made to withstand the elements, and come in handy when you start sweating from all those steps you're getting in. A track jacket is a great piece to wear over a T-shirt or tank. Simply add some fun jeans and a colorful bag, and you'll feel like a street style star wherever you are.
White Blouse + Black Maxi + Sneakers
A sheer white top is a godsend for those extremely hot travel days. Also, I've worn this black cotton maxi skirt on countless trips. It's one of the best travel items I own thanks to the breezy fit and elastic waist.
Cutout Dress + Sandals + Net Bag
If it's more of a beach vacation, you definitely want to travel with some comfortable sandals and a larger tote that can fit all your beach-day belongings. I find that these net bags fold very flat in a suitcase, but they can fit a seemingly endless amount.

She contributed to both the website and print issues, pitching new ideas, forecasting trends, covering red carpet events, and informing the overall coverage and brand voice. After five years in NYC, she moved to the West Coast for the sunshine and the change of pace. As a freelance fashion editor, she still contributes to Cosmo and now Who What Wear. She's always trying to get ahead of the next big trend before it goes mainstream and loves discovering fashion brands with a unique point of view (Chopova Lowena, Sandy Liang, and Bode being some of her current favorites). She also spends an unhealthy amount of time online shopping for the perfect piece, and now that she's in L.A., she's rediscovering her soft spot for malls. On the weekends, you can find her walking around the Silver Lake Reservoir, trying to catch up on her tan at Venice Beach, and probably ordering a Chinese chicken salad at Joan's on Third.

These travel outfit ideas include plenty of wardrobe essentials you'll use while at home or away anyway. Think: the best joggers , high-waisted leggings , loungewear sets , and a go-to tee you'll want to wear every single day. There are great straight-to-the-office outfits, too, if you're headed right to a meeting from the airport. Of course, we also included travel must-haves like compression socks and a silk sleep mask for long plane rides.
Everything here can easily be rolled up and tucked into a bag, too. Maybe you don't need that wrap in the warm weather outside, but you'll step inside to the freezing cold air conditioning and thank yourself for being prepared. No matter where you go, remember that life is all about the journey, not the destination. You might as well look and feel good all the while. So grab these smart travel outfit ideas and bon voyage! ✈️
These rank at the top of best jogger lists because they truly are that comfortable. The fabric is super soft and the semi-relaxed fit lets you move around with ease. With over a dozen colors to choose from, you can go basic with black or gray or pick your favorite color. Either way, you'll never want to take them off.
This tee is a one-size-fits-most powerhouse. It's oversized without looking sloppy and has comfy 3/4-length sleeves and high side slits for a fashionable touch. The 100% cotton slub fabric is airy and light, making it perfect for wearing loose, tucked in at the front, or knotted at the hip. You'll want one in every color!
If you tend to get a little chilly when the air conditioning hits, you need something to lay over your shoulders and arms. Enter: this stunning cashmere and silk blend scarf! You can wear it as is, draped over your outfit, or as a scarf under a jacket.
If you need an extra layer but prefer sleeves, go with an open cardigan style. This wrap is made of breathable, stretchy fabric and it has pockets! It also comes in over a dozen colors and is available in sizes XXS to 3X in regular, petite, and tall lengths.
You can absolutely splurge on an expensive pair of leggings if you live for that kind of comfort. But when Amazon has a buttery soft pair for under $25, that means you can buy an extra one for when you get to where you're going, too. With over 20 color options, you'll have plenty of outfits to coordinate.
The great thing about a dress is you can go straight to the beach or brunch as soon as you arrive to your destination. This one is made of a soft jersey knit blend with a tie waist that you can make as tight or as loose as you want. The fabric also has UPF protection so you really can wear it straight to the sand!
A casual look just isn't quite complete without a go-to hoodie. Reformation offers an oversized yet stylish option, available in a neutral almond shade and basic black. It pairs perfectly with their boyfriend sweatpant for a matching set, but will also go with everything you have in your closet.
If you want to buy a matching set to coordinate, this option makes the list of best loungewear because of the 17,000-plus reviews, 25-plus color options, and soft, stretchy fabric. Tuck in the front of the top and scrunch up the cuffs on the bottom a little bit for a super trendy look.
Oh, you want more matching stuff, you say? How about this four-piece set? It comes with super soft cotton/modal blend reversible tank, turtleneck tunic, pants, and a duster. You'll also get a travel pouch to hold them all...so it's actually a five-piece set!
Sometimes the problem with traveling from one place to another is the drastic change in the weather. Go prepared with a packable jacket. This bestseller is water-resistant, has a hood, and wraps into a tiny little pouch for easy storage. It's also available in ten other colors!
Dr. Scholl's Knee-High Compression Socks
If you're getting on a plane, compression socks will work wonders for your circulation, especially on long trips. The mild compression keeps them comfortable on your calves, so you don't feel like you're wearing a medical device. They also keep your feet comfy if you've got to trek through the airport.
The Perfect Pant
Does the perfect pant exist? Spanx sure thinks so! This high-waisted flare has four-way stretch, hidden shaping technology, and doesn't have a pesky zipper or button. Just pull them on and you're ready to go from travel to meeting in no time. Oh, and they are machine washable, too.
Untuckit Button-Down Shirt
If you need a dress shirt to go with your pants, look no further than this wrinkle-free, stretch cotton button-down. It also features button placement that avoids those dreaded open gaps you might get on other shirts.
Kizik Lima Sneaker
With extra cushy foam outsoles and a breathable knit construction, you'll be able to wear these everywhere from errands to travel to checking out the sights on vacation. The best part? Though they have laces, they are actually slip-on shoes!
Silk Sleep Mask
Catching some z's is tough when you're en route. Block out the light in comfort with a silk sleep mask. Not only will it give your eyes a rest, but silk does wonders for your skin. So, you don't have to worry about weird creases on your face when you wake up.

Travel Outfits: How to Look Chic When You’re Flying
Listen—I’m all about rocking a cute travel outfit when I’m heading out of town…but I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing heels to the airport.
To be honest, I don’t even like wearing jeans on a plane (although I’ll occasionally make an exception if they’re REALLY comfortable jeans , or if my flight is under three hours.)
Usually you’ll find me rocking a head-to-toe set of my favorite affordable cashmere during the winter, and a lightweight loungewear set during the summer.
I often see pictures of bloggers at the airport posing next to their cute pink luggage wearing like…wedges and a mini-dress. HARD PASS. How is that even comfortable? When you’re en route to the airport (and your final destination) it’s all about feeling comfortable.
For this reason, I decided to put together a little guide to cute travel outfits…featuring things that you’ll actually want to travel in , whether you’re heading out for a winter getaway or a girls trip .
Because believe it or not, it’s possible to rock comfy loungewear, leggings, or a jumpsuit and still look SUPER chic, as long as you style them properly (especially my favorite faux leather leggings .)
Below are a handful of great travel outfits I found while trolling IG—and the exact things you can buy to replicate them.
(Also: if you’re also on the hunt for stylish carry-on luggage or if you need some good go-to travel toiletries…I got you covered.)
Chic Travel Outfits
Here, I’m sharing a handful of my go-to travel outfit pieces. These are all items that I think you should have in your closet regardless of how often you go on a getaway, but they just so happen to be particularly comfy choices when going on a plane.
These picks will of course depend on how long your flight is and where you’re headed, but overall, I think they’re practical for travel days.
The only caveat here is that I know a jumpsuit isn’t exactly ideal if you’re going on a long-haul flight—however—I personally don’t mind wearing them on planes because they’re so comfy and not really that difficult to slip in and out of when you need a bathroom break.
If jumpsuits aren’t your jam, there are plenty of other ideas in this post that should work for you, like a cute matching sweatsuit or leggings and a leather jacket. Without further ado, here are the staples I’d recommend having on hand for travel days.
1. An Amazon Set
2. A Comfy Jacket
3. Sweatpants
4. A Cozy Jumpsuit
5. White Sneakers (or Slip-On Sneakers)
6. A Travel Bag
Travel Outfit Style Guide
Looking for more travel outfit inspo? I put together the four looks below, which are just as cute as they are practical. I love that you can wear these on and off the plane—perfect for those days when you have to go directly from the airport to a social event or outing.

This post gave me a more clear idea of what I will wear when travelling and I especially loved the part where you mentioned the all black and all white monochromatic looks .
I do not think I would wear white on a plane. No to the belly sticking out as well. I do like the stretchy pants and sneakers.
Why would anyone wear a jumpsuit on a plane? The toilets are used by hundreds of people, now you want to pull down the top part of your clothes and have it dangling somewhere near the toilet, while you’re sitting on a toilet that exposes the part that gets wee on when the seat is up? Eeu that’s all kind of germ wrong!! But I do love the little 3/4 joggers! Def looking for some of those for my next long haul (when this pandemic is over!)

8 Comfy-Chic Travel Outfit Ideas, According to Beyoncé’s Stylist
These looks are straight fire.
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.
Whether you’re headed on a short or long journey, there are a few key tenants to remember when assembling these looks: “Always think breathable and forgiving fabrics,” says stylist KJ Moody , the mastermind behind some of Beyonce’s most standout ensembles and has also worked with stars like Chloë Bailey and Kelly Rowland. “I recommend linen, cashmere, and cotton pieces, as they pack well and are easy and cozy to wear.”
Also, keep in mind the purpose and destination of your trip. Although appearing put-together is always key, the outfit you wear en route to a European baecation may be slightly different from the one you sport for a more casual trip on the homefront. “International travel tends to call for extra excitement and flair,” Moody notes.
As far as some styles to avoid? “Anything too tight, too loose, too long, or too revealing, which can cause problems when in close quarters on planes, trains, and automobiles,” Moody says. “Unless you’re flying first class or via private plane, you may, unfortunately, end up touching the stranger next to you because you both decided to wear short shorts .”
Without further ado, keep scrolling to shop Moody’s favorite travel outfit ideas inspired by celebrity looks. No matter where you’re headed and or what your personal style is, these are perfect for a range of occasions and aesthetics.
Bodysuit, Stretchy Skirt and Fanny Pack
For a trip from New York City to The Hamptons last summer, Moody dressed Beyoncé in an Area orange bodysuit (now sold out online) and a pink skirt. “This outfit was perfect because it provided a great fit with just enough stretch,” he says. “It was sexy-meets-comfortable.” Emulate the look and accessorize with a pair of artsy earrings (Queen Bey’s are from Schiaparelli) and a colorful fanny pack (the Renaissance artist rocks Anima Iris’ Zaza Raspberry version) to keep your passport and small essentials handy.

Velour mini dress and heels.
“I love a good sporty chic moment,” Moody says. To nail this vibe, try a soft velour mini dress that’s tailored yet flexible and elevate it with statement heels and shades à la Queen B. Although Beyoncé’s Adidas x Ivy Park velour number is currently sold out, you can grab a similar style online and the exact pair of Jimmy Choo pumps she wore to complete her jet-setting ensemble .
Balenciaga Twisted Cat-Eye Acetate Sunglasses
Envii Velour Polo Dress
Jimmy Choo Saeda 100mm Satin Crystal Ankle-Strap Pumps
Bralette, blazer and cropped pants.
Headed on a long flight? Moody recommends a bralette, blazer, and pants combo that will keep you warm while allowing for just a bit of breathing room so you don’t overheat. What’s more, the look is perfectly street-ready, so you can go straight to exploring (without having to change) once you arrive at your destination.

Bright sweatsuit and sneakers.
A cozy sweatsuit is a closet staple and translates well for all your travel needs. Instead of going neutral, follow Selena Gomez’s lead and choose a bold orange getup for a fun pop of color, then balance it out with crisp white sneakers. Moody also suggests styling a mint green jumpsuit with matching Nike dunks.
Marc Jacobs Orange 'The Sweatshirt' Sweatshirt
Marc Jacobs Orange 'The Sweatpants' Lounge Pants
Miu Miu Women's Mesh Platform Low Top Sneakers
Breezy linen dress and clear sandals.
“Lightweight, breathable, and chic, linen is especially ideal to wear if you’re traveling to a tropical or warm European location,” Moody says. “I love it with a clear heeled sandal or nude pump for a playful, comfortable finish.”

rag & bone Helena Stripe Linen Blend Shirtdress
Steve Madden Lilah Sandal

Sleek jumpsuit and sock heels.
Sometimes, you have to head straight to an event post-travel. Whether for a bachelorette party or birthday soirée, you’ll want to wear something that isn’t going to stain or wrinkle easily, like a jumpsuit, Moody says. He loves Bella +Canvas’ cozy, affordable style, as well as Marine Serre’s Moon-Print one-piece and matching sock booties to create the ultimate svelte look (Bey herself sported the latter pairing from her private jet to an NBA game). Add on a spherical, basketball-inspired bag for extra style points, Moody advises.
Marine Serre Crescent Moon-Print Jumpsuit

Classic tee and jeans.
“You can’t go wrong with a white tee and jeans ,” Moody says. “It’s functional, classic, and oh-so-comfortable for travel—plus, you may already have these pieces in your closet!” Throw on some leather flats and an oversized blazer to complete the casual-cool feel.
Cuyana Linen Double-Breasted Blazer
Re Ona Toni Bamboo Long T-Shirt

M. Gemi The Gia
Hoodie, denim jacket and leggings.
Wearing leggings for travel is a no-brainer, but for a dressier take, Moody advises choosing a thicker trouser-like pair. (In case you need shopping inspo, Gigi Hadid and a host of other celebrities love Alo Yoga’s textured Moto leggings .) On top, a cropped hoodie and a denim jacket will provide the necessary layering potential to keep you comfy in both the chilly airplane cabin and more temperate locales.

Amazon Storefront – I’ve listed my top favorite Amazon Travel outfits on my Amazon Storefront . Be sure to follow along as I add new styles!

1. Designer-Inspired Travel Outfit Set
I have to start with one of my favorite Amazon finds this year, and it’s this Spanx-inspired set for under $60! If are familiar with the Spanx AirEssentials line (it’s truly a dream) but it’s quite expensive. This comfy Set has a similar vibe for a fraction of the price.
This 2 piece set comes with a half zip sweater, and wide leg bottoms with a tie waist that feels so soft on the skin.
It’s a comfortable & chic travel outfit because it’s easy to throw on (especially for those 6 AM flights) and it just looks a little bit more put together.
I recently wore this set on my flight to Miami and I can confirm it’s comfortable for being in for many hours. I even own this set in three colors, but the Light Khaki is my ultimate favorite. The color is a stunning light beige that’s so on-trend.
Fit: I sized up for a looser fit in the bottoms. Wearing an XL

2. Comfortable All Black Set
When traveling opt for lightweight fabrics. If you are looking for the perfect base for any road trip or airport travel outfit, let this simple Amazon Set be it! It has a thinner oversized short sleeve top and loose-fit joggers.
This set is 1) comfortable to wear and 2) goes with everything to create different looks. So if you wanted to add in a coat, a vest, denim jacket, leather jacket, hat, etc- it will match effortlessly.
I like how this set has a looser feel so you won’t feel restricted when traveling, and it does come in multiple colors. However, I suggest getting a darker shade to blend with your other travel accessories or hide any spills, etc! (Is it just me spilling coffee whenever I travel?)
Fit: Runs true to size, size up for looser fit.
3. Black and White Travel Outfit Set
(Before we begin, let’s not judge the last photo- it was taken at 5:15 AM) This fun color block set is perfect for travel because it gives off old-money vibes and is super chic.
This set is under $50 and looks more expensive than it is. The pants on me are a bit cropped because I am 5’10, however will fit full length if you are shorter than 5’10. I like the cutout detail on the pants and top that gives a flowy look.
If you’re looking for more colors, this Amazon set has a few options including coffee brown, ivory, and navy.
Fit : Runs true to size. Wearing a size Large
4. Lululemon Inspired Half-Zip Casual Travel Outfit
If you’re a Lululemon girl on a budget, you need to add this half-zip sweatshirt to your cart ASAP! It’s very similar to the Lululemon Scuba sweatshirt but it’s more than half the price, and it makes the perfect travel outfit.
I love this for travel for so many reasons. First, there are thumb holes that are perfect for keeping your arms warm, it’s a trendy cropped style and fleece fleece-lined.
So if you’re looking for a winter travel outfit idea- this Amazon half-zip sweatshirt and leggings will keep you warm on your travels. Plus you can always add in a jacket for extra warmth. Trust me, it’s a must for your travel wardrobe.
Fit : Runs true to size wearing size Large
5. Puffer Vest
Another great way to add warmth to any winter travel outfit is by adding a puffer vest . I love this style from Amazon because it’s comfortable to wear and it fits better than other styles I’ve tried.
Plus you can always take this vest on and off depending on how warm you get. Another great thing about a puffer vest is that you can wear it once you get to your destination. I love the versatility.
This style comes in many different colors, but when in doubt: black is always a good idea that matches everything.
Fit: Puffer vest runs true to size.
6. Sleeveless Knit Travel Outfit Set
This Amazon set went viral on TikTok for a good reason it’s stylish, comfortable, and looks so similar to the Free People version for a fraction of the price.
I adore the color combination of the Khaki White set, but I know white pants and travel don’t mix well. This set does come in different colors with darker bottoms that may work for travel more.
While this is a sleeveless style, the knit material has medium fabric weight so it’s a bit warmer. This is great for year-round travel to many destinations.
Fit: runs true to size wearing size Large
7. Long Sleeve Knit Travel Outfit Set
Now if you love the previous set but get cold easily, especially on those airplanes this viral Amazon set comes in a long sleeve two-piece sweat set version . As soon as it came out you knew I had to have it.
For the long sleeve version, I opted for the Khaki color which comes in a monochromatic top and bottom.
I also have to note that the pants on this set are very comfortable to wear and stretchy with pockets! I know some sets on Amazon can come with uncomfortable bottom options (especially if you have wide hips like me).
I also like how the sweater material is not scratchy. It’s a 10/10 for me.
8. Blazer and Trouser Pants Travel Outfit
This look is for my business girlies out there, or if you just want to be dressed up. A blazer and trousers are always a good idea.
I am obsessed with this blazer from Amazon . I am proud to say that I own it in 5 colors and patterns and wear it all the time, and it’s comfortable enough to wear on long flights to Europe.
And if you thought you could only wear leggings on a plane, think again.
These trousers on Amazon feel like sweatpants and are very comfortable to wear. Now these don’t have the best reviews as users say it’s not quite figure flattering. However, as someone with wide hips, I appreciate the extra room these trousers give.
Pair the look with a pair of loafers or a pair of flats and you’ll be ready for any meeting or event.
9. Coatigan Travel Outfit
When a cardigan and a coat get mashed up together, you get a coatagin. This long coatagin style on Amazon is a best-seller for a good reason. It looks so chic and dresses up any travel outfit (plus it feels like a cozy sweater).
Add your favorite cotton T-shirt and leggings with this coatagin and you will be ready to go.
Note : I’m wearing this in the Light Camel color and in person the color looks pinker than it does online.
Fit: Runs true to size, wearing size Large
10. Oversized Crewneck and Leggings
The key to any travel outfit is comfortable clothing. Look no further than this casual oversized crew neck sweater . This sweater is lined with fleece so it will keep you very warm, especially for any winter travel.
And if you love neutral colors, you’ll have fun selecting what color to get. This style comes in a variety of muted trendy colors, and the Coffee Grey color is stunning- a true dusty mauve (obsessed).
You can add this oversized sweater with a pair of leggings, or even straight-leg jeans if they are comfortable enough for the ideal airplane outfit.
Fit: runs oversized size down wearing a medium.
11. Trench Coat Travel Outfit
Doesn’t a trench just dress up any outfit? Adding in a trench coat instantly dresses up your travel outfit whether that’s a flight or a road trip vacation.
This Amazon trench coat is my favorite because it’s extremely lightweight so you won’t get too overheated when wearing it. It’s also not too bulky-looking. I love it so much that I just got it in black.
Another benefit is that you can wear it to your destination, even in the rain!
Fit: R uns slightly oversized. Wearing it in a medium, but a large would give it a more relaxed look. Size down to be more fitted or get your true size to be relaxed.
12. Oversized Tunic Sweater Outfit
Another casual travel outfit that looks put together is wearing an oversized tunic sweate r with leggings or straight-leg pants.
This oversized sweater from Amazon has two slits on the sides and is long enough to cover your bum. This is an easy style to just throw on for an effortlessly chic casual look.
Add in a faux leather legging for extra shine. These Faux leather leggings on Amazon aren’t too compressing, which makes them a great option for long-haul flights or long trips.
Fit: R uns slightly oversized. Wearing a Medium.
13. Black Leggings
I’ve gone through trial and error to find the best leggings on Amazon… and these black pair of leggings are the best I’ve found.
These leggings are very similar to the Lululemon Align leggings but are a fraction of the price. They truly feel buttery soft, hug the right places, and have medium compression for tummy control.
Plus leggings are so comfortable on any flight and they make going through airport security a breeze.
Fit : Size down for a more compressed feel. Wearing size M
14. Wide leg Pants
@danaberez Airport outfit idea: The most comfortable travel pant on amazon! Wearng size L comes in so many colors #amazonloungewear #amazonfashionfinds #amazonfindfashion #airportoutfit ♬ original sound – Dana Berez
Another pant option I love to wear on long-haul flights are these Amazon wide-leg pants . The material is extremely stretchy, has some tummy compression, and pockets, and feels weightless on you. They are also wrinkle-resistant- great for summer travel!!
I have paired these pants with basic tee shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets making this a year-round travel pant. Add in high compression socks to keep your ankles warm.
Note: I’ve washed mine a few times and there is some pilling on the fabric, but they are so comfortable I overlook it.
Fit: Runs true to size wearing a size large
Travel Outfit Accessories
Here are some of my favorite Amazon travel outfit accessories to complete your look and add function and comfort that out together great travel outfits.
Weekender Bag
I have to admit I have a few favorite weekend bags on Amazon, so here are my top 2 favorites.
This weekender tote bag seriously feels just like my Beis Weekender bag. But the best part, it’s for a fraction of the price, and it’s a bit smaller making it fit under the airplane seat in front of you a breeze. A great carry-on option along with your luggage.
I like the textured canvas exterior and wire framing adding strurcture to the bag. Plus there is a zippered compartment for your shoes.
Another favorite is my BagSmart Weekend Bag- the perfect carry-on. This bag has so many helpful pockets to keep your items organized, and I appreciate the helpful narrow laptop compartment.
While this bag does not have a shoe compartment, you’ll have more room on the inside of the bag and it has a helpful trolly sleeve to use with your suitcase. Plus the straps have held up, even after plenty of use.
I love carrying all my travel essentials in this belt bag , especially going through the airport. I keep my phone, passport, wallet, and boarding pass in my belt bag and I can feel confident knowing I have the most important things right on me.
Plus you can wear this cross-body bag to your destination as well.
This belt bag from Amazon is affordable and feels just like the one from Lululemon for a fraction of the price. Such a game changer for organized travel.
Adidas White Sneakers
My all-time favorite white sneakers are the Adidas Advantage Sneakers . Over the years I’ve owned a few pairs of this style and keep going back because they are comfortable to wear (even when you first put them on, no need to break them in ).
These sneakers also match with any airport outfit and any outfit you decide to wear in your destination. This means you don’t have to pack another pair of shoes when you wear them!
Another trendy Adidas style is the Adidas Sambas . These are actually a mens style, but if you can get your hands on them they make a chic statement.

New Balance Sneakers
If you’re looking for another comfortable shoe, the New Balance 574 sneakers are extremely comfortable and on-trend. I also love the fact that you can wear these with so many outfits and you don’t need to break them in.
FAQ: Can you wear sandals on an airplane?
I’ve worn Birkenstock pair of sandals on an airplane, and I have to admit I did get a lot of looks. However, if you find them comfortable you can wear sandals.
I’d just bring a pair of socks to cover your feet… I find it can be a bit strange to stare at your neighbor’s bare toes mid-flight.
What about heels? For the most comfort, I’d avoid wearing heels.
Baseball Hat
Want to know a way to look stylish at the airport or traveling? Wearing a baseball hat is so genius because you don’t have to worry about doing your hair, and it looks super cute.
I love these sporty baseball hats on Amazon because some teams have neutral color options making it easy to match with any travel outfit.
Sunglasses & Jewelry
I believe that sunglasses just hide any sign of being tired, which is perfect for long travel days. Plus it adds a sophisticated touch to any outfit!
Add in dainty jewelry like small earrings, rings, and a pendant necklace to dress up your outfit.
Oversized Scarf
Another accessory to bring is an oversized scarf. This is a fall winter travel essential because you can cover your shoulders and neck when you need to, and stow away the scarf when you don’t need it!
And once your car, bus, or airplane starts blasting the cool air conditioning you can always grab your oversized scarf or packable jacket!
A cashmere scarf is luxurious and keeps you warm.

10 Chic & Stylish Travel Outfit Combinations That You Can Easily Recreate *Including Packing Tips*
Stylish travel outfits.
Do you have any travel planned over the next few months? Chances are, you probably have some sort of trip planned! If so, this post is for you! We travel quite a bit so it’s safe to say I’m a pro in this area. I’m frequently asked what to wear on travel days specifically so below, I’m sharing simple, stylish travel outfit combinations that you can easily recreate when you take your next trip! Plus, some important packing tips I’ve learned along the way…
By the way, if you’d like to see more outfit ideas and hear even more amazing packing tips, check out the corresponding video here .
#1) Sweatsuit
Today’s sweatsuits are a far cry from the Juicy sweatsuits we saw in the early aughts! The sweatsuit options now can look very chic, sophisticated, and like “regular” clothing. They’re also extremely comfortable, which is especially important if you’re on an overnight international flight and need to get some sleep or just want to be comfy on your next road trip.
The sweatsuit I’m wearing above is from the Spanx AirEssentials collection and I love it so much I have it in green, black, and a pretty beige color. What I love about these pieces is that they’re very chic, super lightweight, breathable, and SO comfortable. They also come in petite, regular, and tall length options and in cropped or full-length (I’m wearing a petite small). The pullover and pants are also wrinkle-resistant…a must for travel! If you don’t already have a comfortable sweatsuit that you love, I can’t recommend this set enough!
Note : You don’t have to wear a matchy-matchy set like this. If you have a pair of black joggers you love and a comfy sweater you love…pair those together for a similar look!
I talk more about this set and the AirEssentials collection in this post . AND…use code ERINXSPANX to get 10% off these pieces!
#2) Activewear
Next up is activewear! You’ve probably seen on your Instagram, the typical influencer travel uniform of leggings, blazer, sneakers, tee, and baseball hat. That’s a super cute look but it’s not personally my style. How I would do activewear when I travel is to wear wide-leg pants like these by Beyond Yoga. They look elevated, sophisticated, and not like traditional activewear. I paired it with the matching camisole and a cute wrap front cropped sweater so you still get that matchy activewear feel… just a bit more elevated.
#3) Cargo Pants & Top
Cargo pants are comfortable and casual and are a step up from leggings or sweatpants. These pants are from Banana Republic and I love the fit, length, and utility-inspired details. If cargo pants aren’t your style, consider some more casual jogger-style pants instead. Either way…cargo pants, joggers, or trousers are a great alternative to jeans while you’re sitting on the plane.
For travel shoes, I typically like to wear closed-toe shoes like sneakers or booties but it’s totally up to you! If you prefer toe wiggle room, run hot, or are going somewhere tropical, you might want to wear sandals instead. I like to look at the shoes I’m packing and wear the bulkiest pair on travel day, so I have more room in my suitcase! And I never…NEVER…wear heels for travel days. Anyone else ever have to run through the airport to catch a flight??
#4) Jeans & Top
The next travel uniform that’s so simple, accessible, and easy to recreate from pieces in your own closet is jeans and a top! Jeans and a top with either sneakers or boots are my go-tos almost every time I travel. In the look above, I’m wearing a pair of Mother jeans that has the perfect inseam for me, a high rise so I feel secure but not uncomfortable, and a wide-leg silhouette. On top, I’m wearing a billowy top that doesn’t cling to the body and is comfortable and forgiving. If you’re going to go this route, try to pair your jeans with a top that’s a basic-with-a-twist to add some interest to the look. For example, this top has pretty crochet detailing at the neckline and fun bell sleeves. I’m wearing a pair of Rag & Bone sneakers in this look, but you can wear whatever sneakers you love or some booties to dress it up… just make sure they’re breathable, comfortable, and it’s not your first time wearing them. Travel is never the time to break in a new pair of shoes!
By the way, I’m sharing even more helpful tips in this corresponding video in case you’re interested!
#5) Cropped Blazer & Jeans
Next up is the cropped blazer and jeans combo. I run cold and for some reason, I’m really cold on planes and in airports. So, I love to have layers I can throw on or shed depending on how I’m feeling. Packing light layers is so important anyways, to ensure a properly functioning travel wardrobe.
I didn’t have a great picture of this outfit but still wanted to share it. Plus, you can see it in motion in the corresponding video . I’m wearing a tan cropped blazer from Mango that’s older but still a go-to for me, so I linked a similar option. Underneath the blazer, I’m wearing a white ruched tee (another basic-with-a-twist we’ve talked about!). I also threw on a scarf because it looks so chic, and it’ll keep me warm…fashion and function! Pair your blazer and tee with your favorite comfortable jeans and sneakers or booties and you’re ready to go in a chic, pulled-together travel outfit! I’m wearing my go-to Chloe sneakers I’ve worn on SO many trips since they’re just so comfortable, stylish, and versatile. They also have a little platform for some added height, which is a win in my book!
By the way, we shared an EPIC travel capsule wardrobe in this post that’s a must-read after you’re done with this post!
#6) Long Blazer & Jeans
Similar to the last look, wear a long blazer versus the cropped one. A longer blazer is a little harder to wear for petite women, but all you have to do is leave it unbuttoned and half-tuck your top into the front of your jeans to help elongate your look and balance the proportions.
In this look, I’m wearing a pair of Moussy Vintage jeans, which is one of my favorite denim brands because the washes are beautiful, the fit is perfect, and most of the styles are a little shorter…perfect for petite women (I’m 5’4” for reference). I paired the jeans with a basic white tee and this pretty off-white oversized blazer. I love the oversized fit for easy layering over anything you’re wearing or have packed. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of Golden Goose sneakers that are the perfect combination of comfy and stylish. For my full review of Golden Goose sneakers, make sure you check out this post next.
Tip: Don’t ever wear a travel outfit that doesn’t function with the rest of your travel wardrobe. Whatever pieces you wear on the plane or in the car should be pieces you can wear again later in the trip with what’s already packed in your suitcase.
#7) Light Jacket & Jeans
This is another go-to travel uniform for me and it’s a great way to show that you can alter your travel uniform to whatever works for you and feels like your style. Your lightweight jacket could be a cargo jacket, bomber, leather jacket, denim jacket, etc. In this look, I’m wearing a Veronica Beard utility jacket that I bought for our trip to Africa and have been wearing nonstop! It’s such a gorgeous statement piece but again, you can wear whatever jacket works for you. I paired it with the same formula we’ve followed for the past few looks…chic jeans, a tee, and comfortable sneakers. In the photo, I’m wearing sandals but for travel, I’d swap it for sneakers or booties.
#8) Trench & Jeans or Pants
You have to be careful when it comes to wearing longer coats or jackets during travel because you don’t want to risk having anything drag on the floor while you’re walking through the airport or in the ladies’ room! But a mid-length coat is usually perfect. I personally love how pulled together and sophisticated a trench looks and how it can completely elevate any outfit. Plus, it’s usually a great piece to have with you while you travel. But you could also go with a cardigan or wool coat depending on your style, the weather where you’re traveling, and how you’re planning to wear it during the rest of your trip and with pieces you have packed.
Tip: When you’re packing, make sure to stick to a color story so that everything mixes and matches effortlessly. I like to stick to neutrals like beige, white, tan, black, etc., and only include 1-2 “special” pieces that are outside of my color story.
#9) All Black
An all-black travel outfit will work for pretty much any destination and especially if your travel wardrobe color story includes black. In the look above, I’m wearing a chic black sleeveless sweater and some paper-thin black leather pants that I wore on a recent trip to California. These pants are super lightweight and breathable but you could easily swap these out for a pair of black jeans, joggers, leggings, trousers, cargo pants, or whatever you feel best in. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of See by Chloe combat boots I’ve had for years and really love! They’ve been “on-trend” for years so I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon. Plus, they’re SO versatile, comfortable, and lightweight.
#10) Cool Pants & Blazer
This is a bit of a wildcard but it’s such a fun look that I just had to share! I’m wearing a pair of Me+Em houndstooth wide-leg pants. They have a comfy elastic waistband, are super comfortable, and the length is great on me. I paired them with a basic black tee, an oversized black blazer by IRO, and combat boots. Throughout this post, you probably noticed the pattern…jeans + top + outerwear. This outfit breaks the mold a little bit and just adds some interest and fun to the mix!

Dress Like a Royal With Kate Middleton's Travel Wardrobe Essentials
Business travel as the Duchess of Cambridge isn't exactly the easiest gig to pack for. The 35-year-old mother of two has to be sartorially prepared for both black-tie receptions as well as more active pursuits like archery lessons and hours-long hikes — sometimes just a few hours later.
As this month's royal tour of Germany and Poland wrapped up, we were inspired to take a look back at some of Duchess Kate's best travel style in hopes of channeling some of her fashion sense on our next trips.
Kate balances designer investment pieces with affordable finds and repeats clothes and shoes — just like a normal human. While this could be considered uncouth for an international style icon, it's really only made us adore her more. She has her favorite English design houses (McQueen, Erdem, Jenny Packham) but she also takes care to honor designers from the countries to which she travels. And most evidently, she knows which styles and silhouettes work for her, relies on them as a uniform, and is able to truly stun when she takes a departure from her signature look.
Because Kate has a way of immediately selling out everything she wears that isn't custom-made — a.k.a. the Kate effect — we sought pieces similar to her mainstays. And to keep in line with the world's favorite high-low style diplomat, the Duchess herself, our finds fit a range of price points. Here are the clothes and shoes Duchess Kate rarely travels without.
Easy Button-Up Shirts
Kate the Great still manages to looks polished even when she dresses down, opting for long-sleeved, tucked-in button-ups while touring with Prince William in Canada (left) , India (center) , and Malaysia (right) .

Right: Mango polka-dot print shirt ( mango.com , $20)
Breton Stripe Shirts
The Duchess of Cambridge is a clear fan of this wardrobe staple. She's worn three-quarter-sleeved, boat-necked stripes for a number of years, both standalone with skinny jeans and layered beneath blazers.

A Great-Fitting Pair of Skinny Jeans
During the royals' 2011 North American Tour (pictured left and right) , Kate wore a pair of J Brand skinny jeans when visiting Yellowknife, Canada. She opted for a similar pair of dark-wash, slim-fit denim during the 2016 America's Cup World Series (center) in Portsmouth, England.

Well Made Knee-High Riding Boots
While touring Bhutan in April 2016 , Kate wore a pair of riding boots to hike to the Tiger's Nest monastery. Her tasseled, side-zip boots are made by Penelope Chilvers , a much sought after English footwear brand known for superb quality and iconic styles. The pair is clearly designed to last, as she's been photographed in them as early as 2004 and they made an encore appearance—yet another reason why we love her—in Canada during a trip to the Great Bear Rainforest in Bella Bella, British Colombia.

Comfortable Boat Shoes
Of course Kate's go-to travel flats —Sebago's taupe and white Bala boat shoes—combine comfort with style. She's worn them on safari at Kaziranga National Park in India (left) , to row dragon boats on Dalvay Lake in Canada (center) , and while sailing in Auckland Harbor in New Zealand (right) .

Simple Sunglasses
Her Royal Highness has been photographed countless times in Ray Ban's classic Wayfarers. Here, she pairs them with a hand-embroidered Naeem Khan dress that retails for $4000 while visiting the Taj Mahal with Prince William on the final day of their 2016 India tour.

Kate's go-to pair of Superga trainers were actually a dressed-down favorite of Princess Diana's , as well. A Tailored Blazer
Kate knows the perfect way to button up a shift dress or a pair of jeans is a fitted blazer. Double-breasted or single-button, worn open or closed, it always adds that extra hint of polish required of a royal.
Shop Kate's Blazer Style
Left: Mural structured blazer ( nordstrom.com , $75)
Center: J.Crew schoolboy blazer ( factory.jcrew.com , $97)
Right, Kate's blazer: Smythe Duchess blazer ( amazon.com , $595)
Printed Tunic Dresses
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's week-long tour of India and Bhutan showed Kate in some of her most colorful looks yet. She boldly mixed prints for a delightful departure from the demure solids she typically wears. She sported graphic dresses while playing cricket in Mumbai (left) , watching a ceremonial dance at a Bihu Festival (center) , and feeding a baby elephant in Kaziranga National Park (right) .
Shop Kate's Printed Dress Style
Left: Sea crochet-trimmed printed silk maxi dress ( matchesfashion.com , $665)
Center: Kate Spade Bloom Jayden dress ( katespade.com , $998)
Right: Erdem Georgie Hasu Night-print silk-crepe dress ( matchesfashion.com , $907)
Neutral Wedges
The Duchess knows a versatile suede, closed-toe wedge will score tons of cost-per-wear points. Pictured here on a recent visit to Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, England, she's also worn the sensible style during a slew of public appearances with Prince William and, you know, to casually play a cricket match in India.
Shop Kate's Espadrille Wedge Style

Center: J.Crew Factory canvas espadrille wedge ( factory.jcrew.com , $59)
Right: Eric Michael Teva espadrille wedge (To buy: zappos.com , $130)
A Go-to Dress
When traveling, it's wise to have a uniform silhouette that's both flattering as well as comfortable. For Kate, that's a knee-length dress with a nipped-in waist and modest neckline.
Shop Kate's Go-to Dress Style
Left: Michael Michael Kors Cole smocked printed chiffon dress (net-a-porter.com, $175)
Right: Kate's dress, Addison printed silk dress ( lkbennett.com , $525)
Feminine Shirt Dresses
The quarter-sleeve, A-line shirt dress is another one of Kate's mainstays. Being the perfect all-weather dress, it's a style she's worn for her arrival in Vancouver (left) , at Kranji Commonwealth War Cemetery in Singapore (center) , and on Manly Beach in Sydney (right) .

What to Pack for Russia: Summer
Written By: Julia K.
If you made it to Moscow, Russia during summer, you’re in luck. Moscow offers a plethora of beautifully landscaped parks and festivals all over the city. If you want to know how to visit all those locations in style, continue reading!

Packing List for Russia in the Summer
White Top | Blouse | Tank | Top | Shirt | Pant | Pants | Skirt | Dress | Dress | Jacket | Cardigan | Flats | Wedge | Bag | Hat
Summers in Moscow can get hot. It can range between 77-86°F (25-30°C) and sometimes be humid. Dressing appropriately, comfortably, and accordingly will save you a headache and make your stay more enjoyable.
Always check the weather forecast before your trip. Once you’ve researched the weather, you can focus on creating a travel capsule wardrobe , which should easily fit in a carryon suitcase with the help of packing cubes to compress your clothing.
Must-see attractions during summer include many parks, such as VDNH, Chistyye Prudy, Izmaylovo and Izmailovsky Park, and of course the famous antique and flea market called Vernisaj.
Start by reading these general tips on packing for summer travel:
- Capsule Wardrobe for Summer
- Top Summer Dresses Perfect for Europe
- Lightweight Jackets for Easy Layers
- Best Walking Shoes for Europe’s Cobblestone Streets
One can see a range of different styles in Moscow. After all, it’s a hub for many travelers, businesspeople, and locals. However, if you’d like to be perceived and treated in a particular way, then pay attention to the way you dress.
You may attract unwanted attention if you wear clothing that’s inappropriate to the local culture. Observe what people are wearing around you and these tips should help point you in the right direction before you arrive.
The following suggestions are based on the perspective of a local born in Moscow.
What to pack for Russia if you’re going to any of the parks:
Blouse | Shorts | Hat | Scarf | Watch | Sunglasses | Purse | Flats
- Flat sandals or flats
- Dressy shorts or a midi skirt (no shorter than one hand above the knee)
- A nice blouse
- A crossbody bag
- A hat and sunglasses
- Jewelry and a watch
If you’ll be staying out all day into the evening, wearing layers is key. Pack a shawl or a cardigan for romantic walks next to the Moscow River.
Pro tip: Take a mosquito repellent just in case and apply sun protection wherever you go.
Read this post to find out our stylish strategies on how to layer clothes !
What not to wear:
As a local, I wouldn’t recommend wearing flip flops, short shorts, mini skirts, bright makeup, or see-through clothes. It’s a good idea not to show cleavage, unless you have a layer underneath. Choose understated jewelry instead of flashier pieces.
What to pack for Russia if you’re going to a festival:
Dress | Hat | Umbrella | Crossbody | Earrings | Lipstick | Watch | Flats
- A nice day dress
- A pair of comfortable wedges
- A light purse
- A scarf for the evening
- Light jewelry
- Light makeup (bronzer, mascara, lip gloss, blush)
Find out the top ten wedges readers recommend!
Travel shoes:
Flats | Wedge | Oxfords
If you’d like to explore Moscow, then comfortable shoes are a must!
The summer weather is pretty predictable. Based on that, you’ll need three pairs of shoes. One to explore the city, a pair to wear in your hotel room, and something for going out. Think: wedges, dressy flats with a thick sole, and flip-flops.
What are the most comfy shoes? These experts are giving you the inside scoop on their twenty-one top picks. Take a look !
What to pack for Russia if you’re going to enjoy dinner and a ferry ride along the Moscow River:
Top | Skirt | Jacket | Sunglasses | Wedge | Lipstick | Clutch | Earrings
- A midi skirt or cropped dressy pants
- A dressy blouse
- Comfortable but dressy shoes
- An evening clutch
- A jacket for any unexpected chill
Make sure your clothes are clean and neat, and that there are no flashy colors or over-the-top prints.
Summer is also a perfect opportunity to take a short trip to St. Petersburg, one of the most iconic cities in the world. It’s full of heritage, architecture, galleries, and art, even for the most discerning travelers and art lovers. You can get there by train or plane. Whichever is in your budget, pack with comfort and style in mind!
Whether you’re spending a summer abroad or finally taking that vacation you’ve been dreaming about for years, TFG has the ultimate long term packing list for your European adventures !
What to pack for Russia for a 3-day getaway to St. Petersburg:
Dress | Earrings | Clutch | Wedge | Cardigan | Tank | Pants | Flats | Purse | Blouse | Pants | Jacket | Scarf | Hat | Flats
- Day/night dress that’s easy to dress up or down with some jewelry
- Comfortable flats to explore the city in
- A change of clothes that covers your knees and shoulders
- A scarf and sweater for when the city becomes cooler during the evening
- A windbreaker
- Everyday jewelry
- A hat to protect yourself from the sun
- A small umbrella
These are the most cute and comfortable ballet flats for travel!
Some museums and churches might refuse service or admission if shoulders and knees are uncovered. I also recommend avoiding jean cutoffs and tank tops, as they may get unwanted attention.
When entering any religious building modesty should be considered, these tips will help you learn how to pack!
Shopping tips:
Moscow has every single store you could think of! From global luxury brands to everyday wear, it caters to many budgets.
If you want to arrive during sale season, then arrive one to two months before the end of the season. You can pick up European-made goods cheaper than in North America. Good shopping malls include Afimall located in Moscow City (another must see) and Evropeiskii located at Kievsky train station.

I’m traveling to Moscow in five days and was wondering if I should really not wear shorts. I’ve been to Nizhny Novgorod in the summer and Moscow in the winter so I have a few ideas about what to wear, but I thought that shorts wouldn’t be so bad.

When I arrive at my destination, I hang it in the closet and I know that I will be ready to go.”

Materials: Ballistic nylon
What reviewers are saying: “This bag stores so much for a carry on. I was able to comfortably fit 2 suits and more for a destination wedding!”

And those are only a few of its distinguishing features. Choose an original or compact size for the style that suits your needs.
Dimensions: 22" x 12" x 12"
Materials: Polyester
What reviewers are saying: “The Garment Duffel is a great purchase, especially for anyone in an industry that takes short frequent trips. I have taken it on many flights, buses and train rides and have never had an issue with fitting it in the overhead bin on both longer-haul flights and short budget-airline carriers.”
Hartmann’s garment bag adds contemporary touches to an otherwise traditional design. The result? A chic, useful travel accessory that will stand the test of time. The padded shoulder strap and multiple interior pockets enhance the convenience of this style.

Moscow for everyone: Here's how to enjoy the Russian capital whatever your passion
Flanked by the imposing buildings of the Kremlin, the stepped granite blocks of Lenin’s Mausoleum and the fanciful onion domes of St Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow's Red Square is nothing short of legendary, but only a taste of what the Russian capital has to offer.
Manicured gardens and parks, brutalist monuments, quirky museums, open-air cinemas and glitzy boutiques co-exist in this storied city, which burst into the 21st century with a slew of restaurant openings and grand urban schemes.
Visitors have never had it so easy, with a raft of digital innovations designed to facilitate and enhance the tourist experience.
One such is the RUSSPASS , a new e-service that allows users not only to plan and book attractions in Moscow and across Russia, but also to create bespoke itineraries to suit every type of interest and budget. The RUSSPASS app is available in English and Spanish and allows tourists to buy e-tickets and to top up the balance of a Moscow transport card.
Beyond caviar and ballet
Moscow’s burgeoning gastronomic scene has been causing a stir locally and internationally. Published for the first time in 2021, the Michelin Moscow Guide awarded its prestigious stars to no fewer than nine of the city’s restaurants. A total of 69 restaurants were recommended, with three of them awarded ‘green stars’ for sustainability. Fifteen restaurants received the ‘Bib Gourmand’, which acknowledges excellent cooking at affordable prices.
Time-honoured haunts for blinis and caviar include the baroque Café Pushkin and the formidable soviet-themed Dr Zhivago , while the glass-domed White Rabbit , whose chef starred in Netflix's 'Chef's Table', continues to dazzle with creative twists on classic dishes. Also creating a stir is Twins Garden , which focuses on wildly inventive vegetable dishes and home-grown produce.
As the country emerges from the pandemic, music, theatre and exhibitions are also back on the agenda. A performance from the matchless Bolshoi Ballet has been a hot ticket since the 18th century, but the Bolshoi Theatre is just one of more than 700 Moscow cultural centers.
These include world-renowned palaces of art such as the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts , a remarkable collection bringing together masterpieces from every major Western movement as well as Egyptian antiquities.
Lesser-known but equally fascinating galleries lie all over the city. An offshoot of the Tretyakov Gallery, the New Tretyakov Gallery also focuses on modern Russian artists, and features works by Kandinsky, Chagall and Popova, among many others.
Moscow's wealth of parks and curious architecture make it a great place for children. The fairytale colours of buildings such as St Basil's Cathedral are every match for the architectural whimsy at Dream Island , a huge indoor theme park where cartoon characters wander through the crowds.
The shiplike Northern River Terminal, built in the 1930s in a Stalinist style, is also a favourite, and has recently undergone dramatic renovation. It now includes a wealth of children’s playgrounds, heating swimming pools and a winter ice rink.
Other ways to keep the little ones entertained include catching a movie at the Khudozhestvenny cinema or a trip on the Moskva River cable car. This vertiginous ride has panoramic views over the city, taking in the Moscow river, the Ostankino TV and radio tower and the skyscrapers of the business district.
These and other activities for children and families are laid out in the official city tourist portal, discovermoscow.com . Here you’ll find information on every type of attraction, from which animals can be petted at the VDNH city farm to the best street food snacks and where they can be found.
It’s a huge and colourful resource, covering the most obscure museums and secret parks, with suggestions for different days of the week and a blog-style news section. On a practical level it lays bare the transport system, COVID-19 protocols, Wi-Fi possibilities and where to hire bikes and scooters.
Rising to current challenges with innovation
Not only its attractions, but also Moscow’s enormous efforts to face the health crisis in practical and forward-thinking ways have been acknowledged on the international stage. In 2021 it has been nominated for both World’s Leading City Destination and Europe’s Leading City Destination at the World Travel Awards.”
The authorities’ support for the travel industry in troubled times has seen dozens of online events and international tourism conferences, as well as the launch of the Moscow Travel Hub, a collaborative platform to promote the creation and development of new products and services.
The spring of 2021 saw the Moscow Travel Hack, an extensive hackathon in which finalists were offered financial support for the implementation of their products, at a time when digital tourism solutions have never been so integral.
Digital tourists can use discovermoscow.com to take a virtual trip to the ballet or opera and even watch cooking or fashion shows. Together with the wealth of detail and endless images of the site, even armchair travellers can experience the wonders of Russia’s greatest metropolis.
