The ITV Coronation Street Experience opened its doors in June 2023 offering Corrie fans more than ever before. Not just the opportunity to visit the cobbles once again, but also a brand-new visitor centre. 

There aren't many things hotter than Betty's hotpot, but fans of the nation's longest running TV show can walk the world-famous cobbles on a Coronation Street Tour. Visitors will have the chance to tread in the footsteps of Corrie greats from past and present, take snaps outside famous landmarks like the Rovers Return. The tour lasts 90-minutes and expert guides take you around the external Coronation Street set.

Afterwards you can explore the visitor centre where you can see inside Roy’s Rolls and The Rovers Return, iconic props, and costumes from the nation’s favourite street

En-route to our hotel we pause at Trentham Gardens – Trentham is a special place with 725 acres of spectacular natural beauty and home to award-winning Gardens, glorious ancient woodland and a unique outdoor shopping village. From the tranquillity of the garden and wildlife walks to the wonder of the Monkey Forest and the thrill of Treetop Adventures, there really is something for everyone at Trentham. From here we continue to our hotel for our 2-night stay.

This morning we travel to Salford Quays and Media City where you will find a wealth of world-class entertainment, leisure and cultural facilities on offer including the Imperial War Museum North and the Lowry. Free time to explore before making our way to the ITV studios for our Coronation Street Tour. Explore Coronation Streets’ famous cobbles as you stroll past the Roy’s Rolls Café or check out Kev’s car shop, Webster’s Auto Centre. Wander past the ‘Kabin’, see the most action-packed pub in the North West, The Rovers Return.

Today we visit Jodrell Bank – a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is a must for anyone interested in space and the night sky. There is a wealth of things to discover with the centre of attraction being the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope. However, there are many indoor and outdoor exhibits to engage with too – Visit the First Light Pavilion and the beautiful 130 seat planetarium with a 30-minute immersive show of the night sky which is included in your admission.

You will also get to spend free time in the city centre of Manchester, one of the best cities in the UK, whether you’re shopping, sightseeing or exploring. Stroll around the Arndale shopping centre, visit Manchester’s Art Gallery, Chinatown or one of its museums. Why not drink and dine at one of the many fabulous bars and restaurants in the funky Northern Quarter. Whatever you choose, you’ll really enjoy Manchester city centre. This itinerary will ensure you have a fabulous two-day short break trip.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One (Journey to Manchester) - Join your coach at one of our FREE local coach joining points and settle back in your seat and relax as we journey to Manchester. Once we arrive, we will take you in to the heart of the city where you will have a few hours free to shop, sightsee and explore this popular city. We will depart mid-evening for the short journey on to your hotel, where you can check-in, relax and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure.

Day Two (Coronation Street The Tour and The Quays) - After breakfast we depart for The Quays, Greater Manchester’s unique waterfront destination. Within just one square mile, you will find a hub of culture, history and sport venues making The Quays the ideal destination for a full day out and you’ll have plenty of time here to explore. We will meet up for the highlight of the trip, Coronation Street The Tour. Late afternoon we commence the homeward journey.

Within easy coaching distance of Manchester city centre and The Quays, all hotels used have en-suite bedrooms. There is a comfortable bar where you might choose to relax and you’ll enjoy a breakfast on the morning of your stay.

Depending on your time of arrival there are plenty of attractions to discover near MediaCityUK, including IWM North.

Next we head to the famous cobbles and the Coronation Street Experience including Tour.

Coronation Street The Tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and be full of filming stories and secrets and packed with picture opportunities. This is your chance to step on to the largest working television lot in the country and be immersed in the familiar surroundings of the Rovers Return, Roy’s Rolls, Underworld and The Kabin.

The new exhibition includes replica sets, costumes, props, café, retail and cinema is in addition to the tour. Journey through over 60 years of television history as you see original iconic props and costumes, a collection of artwork AND replica interior sets of The Dobbs, Roy’s Rolls and The Rovers Return (approx. 45 minutes).

Return to the hotel after the tour, check-in and then sit down for dinner.

On arrival, the two of you will be warmly welcomed, ready for your 90-minute tour to commence. You’ll meet up with your expert guide and head on an adventure around Coronation Street’s most recognisable places. Since it opened as a temporary attraction in April 2014, the former Coronation Street set has attracted hundreds of fans with its exclusive tours. Recently ITV relocated their outdoor Coronation Street sets to MediaCityUK and expanded it to include Victoria Street. You can wander down the street's famous cobbles passing Roys Rolls, The Kabin and of course The Rovers Return. Coronation Street tour: Review, pictures and secrets from the set

The first tours kicked off this weekend, but ahead of the official launch, Digital Spy was among the first to get a sneak peek at what to expect as the organisers held an official press preview earlier this week.

Here at DS , we've been lucky enough to visit the Street on previous occasions, but even for us this was a completely new experience as the tour proved to be much more than just a simple walk down the cobbles.

With the help of trained tour guides, visitors to the attraction almost become members of the crew themselves as they get an access-all-areas pass to sets, production rooms, wardrobe as well as the Street itself.

Next stop is the 'Corridor of Stars', which housed the dressing rooms of some of the show's original cast members including Bill Roache and Philip Lowrie. While some remain closed and locked, a couple have been opened up to the public for the first time to give fans an insight into the other main place where the cast relaxed in between scenes.

Interestingly, the tour guides explain that no two dressing rooms were the same, as each cast member used their rooms slightly differently. Some treated them as a 'home away from home' and even brought in beds for naps during breaks from filming, while others preferred to keep things as basic as possible.

After a quick trip into wardrobe and make-up, visitors are then guided into one of the tour's main highlights - Stage One, which housed the sets for the show's interior scenes.

Carla's former flat, the Platt family's home and the Dobbs house are among those on display, and they have been fully dressed for the tour in exactly the same way they would for a scene.

While it's often been said by those who have been lucky enough to see the sets, fans really will be struck by how small they seem in real life. For example, seeing how tiny the Platt kitchen is, it's difficult to imagine how the cast all fit in for those awkward family meals we often see!

Just like the dressing rooms, no two sets are the same. Set designers always made sure that Carla's kitchen was spotless - reflecting how infrequently she ever cooked in there - while the messier Platt house illustrates the chaotic reality of family life with David, Kylie and the kids.

Of course, no trip to Corrie would be complete without a trip to the Rovers Return, where fans have the chance to have a picture taken while pulling a pint behind the bar. This can be purchased later on in the tour, though fans are free to take their own photos once they move onto the exterior Street set.

While other sets on Stage One could be moved as filming required, The Rovers was the most important set of them all - always staying in the same place as it's required for almost every episode.

Elsewhere in the studio, there are plenty of props and memorabilia to be found from storylines old and new - from Deirdre Barlow's glasses to the tram crash rubble and Roy Cropper's train set.

Fans are also guided into the production suites for an insight into the responsibilities of the behind-the-scenes team who bring Corrie to our screens for five episodes each week.

Unsurprisingly, the highlight of the tour is the 'grand reveal' of the Street itself. Emerging from the door to Nick's Bistro, visitors are brought onto the cobbles and given free reign to explore Coronation Street and the surrounding area.

The Rovers, The Kabin, the Corner Shop, Roy's Rolls and the rest are all still standing at Quay Street as they were last year, so there are plenty of photo opportunities before the tour reaches its conclusion with a visit to the medical centre on Rosamund Street, which has now been transformed into a gift shop.

With so much covered in the 45-minute tour, it's difficult to see how any fans wouldn't be impressed by the experience. As well as the obvious excitement of touring the show's famous locations, the attraction really does offer a strong insight into what life was like for the cast and crew as they worked on some of soapland's most memorable storylines at Quay Street.

Just don't let your visit spoil the illusion too much!

3-Day Moscow Tour Highlights:

• Panoramic Tour of Moscow: See Moscow beyond the postcard images on a private excursion by car through the city streets including a drive along the banks of the Moskva River. Visit the famous Bolshoi Theatre, pass by Gorky Park and the Novodevichy Convent, and admire the city from on high at the Sparrow Hill observation platform.
• Moscow Historical City Centre Guided Walking Tour : Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of one of the world’s biggest metropolises and discover local haunts on foot, including the Red Square, the Kremlin and the multi-coloured domes of St Basil’s Cathedral.
• Armory Chamber tour: Explore the endless treasures of this unique museum, displaying the wealth accumulated by Russian rulers from the 12th century until the October Revolution of 1917. Walking through the exhibition halls is a journey through the centuries.

On your first day, you’ll be treated to a panoramic, drive-by tour of Moscow to get a feel for the immense scale of one of the world’s most rapidly developing urban centres. The city’s history unfolds in real-time as you pass lavish imperial mansions, solemn Soviet structures and luxurious modern shopping centres.

Day two kicks off exploring Moscow’s historic centre on foot, followed by a tour of the Kremlin, the seat of Russian power and political intrigue for centuries. Stand in the Red Square, surrounded by the stunning architecture as you hear stories of the people and events behind many of Moscow’s most iconic landmarks.

On your final day, we’ll head beneath the city for a tour of the Moscow Metro and its famously ornate underground stations. Art lovers should hit up one of Moscow’s many world-class galleries such as the Tretyakov State Gallery, the Pushkin Museum or Garage, Moscow’s cutting-edge contemporary art museum. History fans can follow a Soviet trail through the city including Stalin’s Bunker, while those seeking a more indulgent experience can browse trendy neighbourhoods like Kitay Gorod or shop for everything from fashion to kitsch souvenirs at the enchanting Izmaylovo Flea Market. Foodies can head to one of the countless speciality stores sampling vodka, caviar and chocolate.

Day 1 Panoramic city tour

Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.

After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.

You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.

Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.

Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.

As an option* spend an evening on a sumptuous dinner cruise, taking in the stunning sights and city lights of this mesmerising metropolis by night.

Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street

Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.

The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.

Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
