Shockwave (Movie)

From Transformers Wiki

Symbol decept reg.png

Shockwave was left to watch Cybertron by Megatron long ago, but he would eventually follow the call of the AllSpark to Earth . Deadly efficient with a cold devotion to logic, Shockwave is a killing machine like few others and one of the very few who could rival Megatron. This has made him quite popular amongst the Decepticons; some respect him enough to willingly work with him while others idolize him to the point of avenging his death. Nevertheless, Shockwave is ready and willing to destroy whichever Autobots dare stand in his way with his arm-mounted AstroMag Cannon .

Revenge of the Fallen film

At some point during 2009, Shockwave was caught on film and the event was written up for a newspaper article. A newspaper page with the headline "Mysterious Robot Spotted" was discarded in Egypt , where it was sucked up by a rampaging Devastator . Revenge of the Fallen

Dark of the Moon film

(thumbnail)

Shockwave and his pet Driller attacked the Autobots when they were summoned to Chernobyl by the Decepticon agent Alexi Voskhod . This was done as an act of misdirection to ensure that the Autobots did not realize that the Decepticons actually wanted them to find the fuel cell from the Ark located within the facility. After Optimus retrieved the fuel cell from the Driller, Shockwave emerged from it to reveal himself to Optimus, and the pair quickly retreated underground, leaving Optimus very disturbed to see Shockwave on Earth.

(thumbnail)

Later, Shockwave took part in the invasion of Chicago . He and the Driller emerged from beneath the convoy of Autobots, and the Driller separated Optimus from his trailer. Shockwave left the Driller and proceeded to track down the Autobots. The Wreckers were sent to distract him, peppering his armor with fire from their machine-guns. He used a car as a shield and fired at them, and once they drove off, he menacingly began to pursue them down the road, missing the two small Autobots, Wheelie and Brains , who quickly fled.

(thumbnail)

Later, he noticed humans inside a building, and sent his Driller into the fray to topple a building and kill Sam Witwicky , Carly Spencer , Robert Epps , and the other humans inside. However, the beast was killed by Optimus Prime using his flight gear. Enraged by the death of his pet, Shockwave opened fire on the Autobot leader, briefly disabling him and taking him out of the fight.

(thumbnail)

He soon joined Soundwave and Barricade in rounding up the other Autobots. Brains and Wheelie forestalled the Decepticons from further executing their prisoners by taking control of a Decepticon gunship, and dropping fighters onto the battlefield. Shockwave retreated further away with Barricade and some other Decepticons, but the human soldiers had set a trap and fired upon them. Shockwave's face was obscured by one of their parachutes, and his eye was then shot out by the Wreckers, causing it to dangle by its wires. He then attempted to escape, but Optimus Prime came charging back into the battle, and when Shockwave fired at him, the Autobot dodged the shot, donned a set of knuckle-spikes , and punched Shockwave so hard that part of his abdomen shattered. Even this did not put Shockwave down, but Prime did not give up - he punched Shockwave again, pinned the Decepticon down and tore his dangling eye out through his throat, finally killing the bloodthirsty Decepticon. Optimus then used Shockwave's cannon to shoot out the control pillar set up in the city. Dark of the Moon

Shockwave was active in a battle during the 1560s, where his exploits were recorded in a painting. He later participated in World War I around 1917, where his silhouette had been used on a war poster. Both of these events were covered up by the Order of the Witwiccans .

After the battle of Chicago, Shockwave's death greatly angered fellow Decepticon, Nitro Zeus . [2]

When Viviane Wembly was abducted by Hot Rod , she remarked that her captor had better be a famous Transformer, like Shockwave or Soundwave, perhaps unaware that both Decepticons were deceased. Hot Rod retorted that he was more impressive than either of them. The Last Knight

Bumblebee film

(thumbnail)

After Megatron had disappeared, Shockwave and Soundwave assumed command of the Decepticon army. Under their joint leadership, the Decepticons conquered Cybertron forcing the Autobots to abandon the planet. When the Decepticons launched a final assault on the last Autobot city, Shockwave ordered the Seekers to destroy the launch pad and prevent the Autobot evacuation. Despite the Seekers' attack, all the Autobots but Optimus Prime managed to escape immediate danger. After Prime was attacked by Ravage , Shockwave and the other Decepticons closed in to attack the Autobot leader. Despite this, Prime managed to escape the planet. Bumblebee

Eons after the Dynasty of Primes were vanquished, Cybertron fell into dark times. The AllSpark had been buried somewhere within Cybertron and been dismissed as a legend, and the planet itself lacked a star to orbit. As energy became more and more scarce, Cybertronians segregated into tribes. Shockwave chose to rally behind Sentinel Prime , who claimed to be descended from Primus himself. However, he faced opposition from the non-believer Thetacons , and Shockwave joined Megatron , Optimus , and several others in repelling their attacks. Ultimately, Sentinel Prime won the day, as he and Wheeljack were successful in locating the lost AllSpark and harnessing a new sun to orbit. This, however, did not please Shockwave. Now that the war was over, he was dissatisfied, and he no longer knew his purpose. This shocked his old friend, Megatron, and Shockwave explained that it was the journey he enjoyed, not the destination. Plus, well, that new sun was kind of bright. Foundation #1

The next day, Megatron detailed to Shockwave how he had eavesdropped on a conversation between Sentinel and Optimus, where Sentinel had tried to pass on leadership to Optimus, who refused, unable to accept he was also a Prime. At the outskirts of Thetacon , they encountered a Driller , a subterranean lifeform that had been brought to the planet's surface by the new energy flowing through it, which was attacking a group of Hatchlings and their protector Starscream . Shockwave was amazed by the creature and called it "magnificent". After besting it, he joined the Cybertronian Defense Force that Sentinel placed under Megatron's command, rooting out dissident Transformers. Foundation #2

After the war broke out he joined the Decepticons. As Starscream was asking what to do next minutes before the Nemesis went to space, Shockwave told him that they would obey Megatron's orders without any question. Foundation #3 When the Autobots attacked Simfur Temple , Shockwave attempted to apprehend Elita-One , but with no success. When Starscream blew up the ship carrying Sentinel and his secret weapon , Shockwave ordered the annihilation of the retreating Autobots, but Megatron made him stand down, gleefully predicting Optimus would return with a vengeance. Foundation #4

Shockwave returned with Megatron to his citadel during Optimus's revenge attack. Foundation #1 Shockwave asked Megatron if he could kill Optimus Prime and Ironhide after they had been stuck by the smelting pool , but Megatron was disappointed by Shockwave's lack of vision. Foundation #3 Optimus got inside to fight Megatron, while Starscream and Shockwave attempted to kill their former comrade Ironhide. Suddenly, the skies darkened: the Autobots had attacked the citadel to distract the Decepticons from their true goal of stealing the AllSpark from the temple. Optimus blasted Starscream and Shockwave, and the two Autobots escaped. Foundation #4

There were no digital records of Shockwave's existence, and the physical documents pertaining to him were lost, burned, shredded or stolen in the wake of the Soviet Union's collapse. The Siberian facility was abandoned and Shockwave was left forgotten. Convergence chapter 4

Soundwave discovered the satirical article and its photograph, and deduced it was based on stolen Soviet documents. Convergence chapter 4 In 2010 , Megatron freed Shockwave and brought him to his "base" in Namibia , where he was eager to get back to killing Autobots as soon as possible. Rising Storm #2

Shockwave and Astrotrain made their presence known on Earth near Dalian , China , where they quickly disposed of the Autobots Longarm and Salvage and stole material for a mysterious construction project.

Shockwave began following the exploits of Earth's stranded Transformers from afar, and derided its war's combatants as idiots after watching a skirmish in California . After contacting Astrotrain for an update on their project, he tracked Divebomb 's radiation trail back to Starscream's current base of operations, in a junkyard on the outskirts of Mexico City . Blasting his way through the Decepticons unwise enough to try defending Starscream, Shockwave informed the treacherous air commander that Megatron had "requested his services." Before the conversation could go any further, Astrotrain radioed Shockwave with some bad news: the " brain unit " scrap drone that held the control software for the machine he was constructing had escaped. Shockwave charged Starscream and his followers with recovering the drone. Rising Storm #1

(thumbnail)

Shockwave contacted an angry Starscream who thought he was promised the Autobots would be occupied. Shockwave countered that they were occupied, but, you know, with Starscream, leaving Shockwave free to leave a message for Optimus Prime at the NEST Headquarters in Diego Garcia . After killing Knock Out , Dune Runner , and other Autobots who stood in his way, Shockwave confronted the trembling humans left to fend for themselves. When Shockwave asked who was in command, Theodore Galloway told him that he was. Shockwave killed Galloway and the other humans save one, and he asked his question one more time. Rising Storm #3

After killing Jolt , he and Fearswoop left Diego Garcia, then he arrived in Philadelphia killing Elita-One in the process and shot down Wheeljack and Mirage . Enraged by the death of Elita-One and the other Autobots, Optimus Prime battled Shockwave, quickly overpowering him and brutally pummeling the sadistic Decepticon. Prime was about to kill Shockwave, till Shockwave's "pet" came to save his master. The badly damaged Shockwave returned to Namibia along Starscream and Soundwave. Rising Storm #4

Under the orders of Starscream, Shockwave attacked Tranquility in an effort to interfere with Optimus Prime 's attempt to rescue Bumblebee from Sector Seven . Prime actually had a grip on the helicopter net that held Bumblebee, but the force of Shockwave's entry mode's impact knocked him off, allowing Sector Seven to get away.

(thumbnail)

Landing in downtown, the triple-changing Shockwave adopted a helicopter and an artillery emplacement as his alternate modes, promptly transforming into the latter and lobbing explosives around the city. Prime, forced to cut off his rescue, charged in and pounded Shockwave until the goliath transformed and retreated to another position. Prime doggedly kept at Shockwave, following him every time he retreated, eventually defeating the Decepticon and saving Tranquility. Transformers The Game (console)

Later, when the Autobots returned to Cybertron, Shockwave appeared on the planet alongside (and presumably leading) an army of Decepticon drones. Optimus quickly defeated the drones and once more defeated Shockwave.

The massive Shockwave might look like he's purely about muscle and firepower, but he's actually remarkably shrewd and cunning. Coveting the position of Decepticon leader for himself, Shockwave has been working to oust Megatron for years. As you might imagine, he and Starscream don't get along very well.

When the Decepticons arrived on Earth in search of their lost leader, Megatron, Shockwave adopted a tank as his alternate mode. Shockwave was supposed to join Blackout in his attack on the SOCCENT Forward Operations Base in Qatar , but instead busied himself surrepticiously searching for leads to the location of the AllSpark . After receiving a communique from Frenzy , who informed him that the Autobots were on Earth and had discovered their own leads to the location of Megatron, Shockwave had Thundercracker airlift him to Qatar, where he helped Blackout take care of the last few military units opposing him. He relayed Frenzy's message to Blackout, then departed for the Arctic with Thundercracker, intending to investigate the site where Megatron's body was discovered.

In the Arctic, Shockwave and Thundercracker faced resistance from an Autobot unit in the area, but fought their way through them to discover that Megatron's body had been moved by Sector Seven . The trip was not a wasted one, however: after scanning a computer terminal in the cavern, Shockwave discovered that Megatron had brought an army of drones with him to Earth to help in the search for the All Spark. These drones were presently lying dormant all over the Earth, and Shockwave schemed to reactivate them so that they could serve him as his personal army. The signal required to reanimated the drones had to be broadcast from a great height, so Shockwave and Thundercracker quickly made their way to a rocket launch site, where Shockwave programmed the code into a rocket that subsequently beamed the signal down over the Earth from space. Drones sprang to life all over the planet, and began attacking the Autobots. Shockwave's control of his self-made army was short lived, however, as Autobots Trailbreaker and Hound successfully transmitted a virus that shut the drones down. Simultaneously, Shockwave received another message from Frenzy that the he had discovered the location of Megatron, and that the Decepticon leader was about to reawaken.

After the Autobots defeated Megatron and most of the other Decepticons in battle in Center City , Shockwave retreated back to Cybertron , as did Starscream. Back on their homeworld, Shockwave and Starscream faced off for leadership of the Decepticons, with Starscream ultimately claiming victory. Transformers The Game (PSP)

Shockwave had crashed on Earth thousands of years ago and fell into stasis mode. He was later discovered by the Russians and a facility was built to contain him, where he was frozen to prevent him from waking up.

Three years after Megatron was wounded, the Decepticons took refuge in that same Russian facility to repair themselves. His leader Megatron decided to release him, since he was needed for the upcoming operation. The base came under fire, however, thanks to Starscream leading the Autobots straight to Megatron. The 'Cons abandoned base and left Shockwave and his Driller to thaw out.

(thumbnail)

Optimus discovered Shockwave and ordered Ratchet to activate more freeze tanks to keep him frozen. Unfortunately, Shockwave's pet awoke from its slumber, and lashed out at the intruders. The attempts to keep him frozen eventually failed, and Shockwave woke up and decided to destroy the Autobot leader. Years under stasis meant that he wasn't fully combat ready, and it was something Optimus took advantage of when he attacked the Decepticon assassin. Shockwave soon managed to fully recover and lashed out at Prime with everything he had. Autobot reinforcements arrived to help in Optimus' assault, but were dispatched quite easily. During their skirmish, Optimus Prime (with a little help from Ratchet) deduced his weak spot as the three cylinder-shaped generators mounted on his back. With this knowledge, Optimus Prime was then able to take down Shockwave with his jetpack/machinegun upgrades, until the Driller decided to intervene, and blocked off the shots while retreating with its master.

Shortly after, Shockwave met up with Megatron, Starscream , and Soundwave in Nambia, Africa. He was ordered to find a device in a nuclear power plant called Chernobyl. Shockwave agreed, and Megatron told him and the others of Operation Pillar... Dark of the Moon (Xbox 360/PS3)

  • Transformers: The Game Shockwave was designed by artist Ken Christiansen . His original flying altmode was to be an A-10 Warthog , but to reduce the mass discrepancy with the howitzer mode, Christiansen changed this to an AH-64 Apache and bulked up the Howitzer into a made-up "super-howitzer". [7]
  • Christiansen originally intended TFTG Shockwave to be a dull green, as seen right, but was asked to make him purple for the final version, after attempting a "compromise" black. [8]
  • The "Attack Copter", "Recon Chopper" and "Stealth Chopper" Create- A-Bot vehicle modes from the Nintendo DS video games transform into robot modes bearing some resemblance to Shockwave. The Attack Chopper is the only one that can be customized to appear purple, though.
  • Ironically, it appears that Shockwave's appearance in the game Autobot Stronghold is also based on the same statue according to concept art shown in cargocollective.com.
  • Promotion for Dark of the Moon heavily touted Shockwave as the new main villain of the film, presumably to conceal Sentinel Prime 's unexpected betrayal halfway through the movie. Media coverage often described Shockwave as the ruler of Cybertron while the other Transformers were fighting on Earth, [9] and while IDW's comics would toy with this idea a little bit, it had no bearing on his depiction in the film. It's generally thought to have been a Chinese whisper that resulted from mainstream media independently researching the character and reporting information on his Generation 1 namesake (though that didn't stop its inclusion in the official plot summary from Paramount's German branch, which also claimed that Shockwave was the robot inside the Ark in the trailer). [10]
  • In what was presumably an attempt to hide his finalized movie design, Shockwave appeared in IDW's prequel comic with an alternate Cybertronian body with a jet alternate mode before being badly damaged at the end of Rising Storm , necessitating his reconstruction into his movie form. While his toy transforms into a tank, he never transforms in either the film or the video game.

(thumbnail)

  • Bucking tradition, this Shockwave has a mouth.
  • In contrast to his highly promoted nature and major presence in the movie comics, Shockwave receives minimal screentime in the finished film, with only one understandable line of dialogue (snarling Optimus's name at Chernobyl). As with Bonecrusher in the first film, and multiple characters in the second, he emits a lot of gnashing, gurgling noises that could be mistakenly interpreted as dialogue if one strains hard to hear something in them—one of his snarls to the Driller before it dives into the skyscraper, for instance, sounds sort of like "Commence". As happened with Mixmaster on the Revenge of the Fallen DVD, the subtitle writer misinterpreted one of Shockwave's snarls as the hilarious sentence, "Driller-bot is thirsty". In contrast, while he still has a minimal presence in Bumblebee , he has two lines of intelligible dialogue more in line with his Generation 1 counterpart .
  • In the DOTM novel adaptation, Shockwave is described as gray colored.
  • Generation 1 Shockwave 's original voice actor, Corey Burton had no desire to return to the role for Dark of the Moon , explaining "[I] have practically no interest in that kind of mega-budget movie enterprise involvement". He noted that the inspiration for his Shockwave voice, David Warner , was rumored to have been considered, [11] but in the end, Shockwave's almost-entirely-wordless-snarl-based role went to Frank Welker. There's a nice touch of symmetry in the casting, with Welker taking over a Burton-originated role not long after Burton took on a Welker-originated character in Animated Megatron .
  • Hasbro's online bio for Shockwave claims he had spent decades trapped under Chernobyl, but this was not reflected in any actual media; both the video game and Rising Storm comics have him held at a different Russian facility from which he is freed shortly before the film's events, and the film itself doesn't give any indication that his appearance at Chernobyl in its opening scenes is an "escape" of any kind.
  • Shockwave's AstroMag cannon is a reference to the original Shockwave 's toy mold being first released by ToyCo as the " 4 Changeable Astro Magnum ". Though described as a particle or laser cannon in most related Dark of the Moon media, it appears to be some variety of cluster missile launcher in the movie proper.
  • Select Toys"R"Us stores in the US had a promotion for a Shockwave poster with the purchase of any Transformers brand toy from June 5 , 2011 to June 11 , 2011.

(thumbnail)

  • Early artwork for Shockwave for Dark of the Moon showed Blitzwing as a working name for the character, obviously an attempt to hide his identity during production. [12]
  • Shockwave's appearance in a Burger King commercial that depicts him fighting Optimus Prime does not depict any scene in the film. Rather, the animation places Shockwave's model over Sentinel Prime's motions during part of his own fight against Optimus.
  • In subsequent films, Shockwave's model is reused for the " Two Head "s, with the biggest differences being a second one-horned head and the lack of an arm cannon. His head design is also reused and modified for Nitro Zeus , hence the reason Shockwave is mentioned in his TRF prisoner dossier bio.
  • Attinger 's playing card of Shockwave was barely visible in Age of Extinction . It wasn't until a prop auction for the Transformers film series held in 2019 that a clearer view of the card was shown. [13]
  • Shockwave's design in Bumblebee is heavily inspired by his Generation 1 namesake .

  • ↑ TF1 - Shockwave 01: ...apparently in the Traveler's Tales game design... they had Shockwave as a triple changer. Somehow Hasbro let us have it, and I went to work. Working on mass and trying to keep the ratios consistent on the other drones, I piped up and said no way a Howitzer can change into a Warthog. So I pitched the Apache helicopter, (because they wanted to retain the flying dynamic) with it's very slender body, it could at least be plausible to change into a Howitzer, with a little help..the math came out to the Apache having about 32% more mass than the Howitzer. So I took the opportunity to invent a SUPER Howitzer; to beef up the mass, add a few helicopter armament cues, and pull in some G1 Shockwave character cues, namely the diamond shaped chest elements, to create a more well-rounded three way mode
  • ↑ TF1 - Shockwave 03: I had set up Shockwave to be a military green, to match the other military based movie Decepts, but I did get asked to explore the purple. I thought it looked a little silly - OK, a lot silly - being the true purple of G1 lore, so I tried a compromise with a purple based black color...

Anyone who wants his eyes to be more visible without losing his light piping, here's a method i used.

I just stuffed some aluminium foil behind his eyes. The reflectiveness makes it shine when it hits the light at certain angles. View attachment 30351145 View attachment 30351146

Shockwave and Shockwave getting together so Shockwave can have a playdate with Shockwave.

Decided to finally just nab him today (out for a while in Australia), he's a Shockwave that does Shockwave poses with no issues. Yes the lack of bicep is a copout but he has enough articulation elsewhere imo, so many people here need their precious ankles and wrists to pose a figure doing simple A stance and shoot/ :man_standing: emoji instead of getting creative. I'm more disappointed in the alt mode and horrible light piping.

TL;DR Shockwave looks good, poses fine despite the bicep copout. Shameful light piping. 8/10.

Well I preordered this guy yesterday from Pulse. I like the core figure so it's nice to have an updated version of him in voyager.

This and comic book.shockwave will be my last versions of him. I don't feel I will need anymore. Its only logical lol

TF Hot Rod Avatar

Basically yeah I would not be suprised if in 3 days to 2 weeks we see him go in stock and ship. What happened with BBTS, they charged for wave 2 United like 1-2 days after the stream they got revealed on.

Denzimus Avatar

spaceballsrules FINALLY! Pre-order placed, and when he arrives in a month, I will have completed my SS BBM collection.

Nope you still have Skywarp lol

R3M1NGT0N Avatar

Tilted Foliage When does this figure release?

Preorders go live Thursday. Probably slated for a May release going by the stock images, but don’t be surprised if the whole wave ends up releasing sooner. With the exception of Swoop, these guys have been in port since December.

Tilted Foliage Avatar

When does this figure release?

Fenrys Avatar

Denzimus When is this coming out?

Whenever the next wave of Studio Series goes up for order

When is this coming out?

spaceballsrules Anyone have any idea when SS BBM Shockwave will be officially revealed? It should be coming up soon, no?

Probably within a few weeks of March. They’re going to be doing weekly fanstreams

What Shockwaves do you have in your collection?

Discussion in ' Transformers Toy Discussion ' started by Tyjos , May 25, 2021 .

Tyjos

Tyjos Just another Collector

It's begun once again TFW! With my descent back into collecting Transformers and my need for modern figures taken care of my mind once again is going back towards Generation 1 and ended up getting a super cheap [It's a KO I know] G1 Reissue Grimlock that was dirt cheap and it's been making me look around for Shockwave and finding I'm tempted to get the Masterpiece Shockwave again -had that one when it came out, ended up with a KO Shockwave then but now considering getting one again- and I'd LOVE to find a Generation 1 Shockwave Original but still tempted to get a KO of that and it feels like Shockwave is one I don't mind getting a KO of for the collection. Current Plan for June: Transformers G1 Dinobots -KO's I don't mind getting Transformers G1 Shockwave -KO or keep an eye out for a original version Transformers Siege Shockwave -I did like this one so may end up getting it again, sold it off when I purged the collection last year. Transformers G1 Shockwave Masterpiece KO [Possible May get this one but I haven't felt that crazed for Masterpieces in a long time so may stick to the Siege Version of Shockwave] What do you guys think about all the Shockwave figures that are out there? I like that over the past few years we've been getting a different version of Shockwave I'm surprised that during the recent Walmart Reissues they didn't get one released then and did like that we got a Shockwave in Siege would be great if we got a new leader class Shockwave in Studio Series 86' since I keep holding off on getting a Shockwave cause he's one of my favorite Decepticons and I'm very tempted to get the Siege version now but after having a full month for Transformers and picking up a lot my task now is to compile a short list of figures for next month and work my budget out. Shockwave's original G1 is expensive and I do need a Shockwave in the new Transformers collection that is being rebuilt after purging it last year during the early months of the Pandemic [Prioritized Money/Financial Stability over having a bookcase full of figures] so now finding it's down to Shockwave and Dinobots being the main things I'm after right now. How many Shockwaves do you have?

MP Shockwave all the way. Though I have the FOC and the WFC version.

Animated (Multipack): Pretty decent figure. As far as I recall, the only TF besides Punch that could disguise itself as another TF. Shockwave's Longarm form pulls this off much better than Counterpunch as, instead of just turning around, he actually changes up his build, shortening his limbs and and straightening his posture. Plus, his face changes style, claws become hands and his shoulder lights get hidden. On top of all of that, he can actually change into a different vehicle for his Autobot disguise, turning into a tank as Shockwave and a crane as Longarm. Overall, the toy is solid, being highly possable and show accurate although I always found his torso difficult to extend due to the amount of force required to pull it. DOTM (Voyager): It's OK. A bit too small, turns into a forgivably unconvincing tank (with the character not transforming in the movie) and has a robot form that isn't accurate to the character's onscreen proportions. Still, it's robot mode is functional enough, if you ignore it's inaccuracy. DOTM (Cyberverse Commander): The Shockwave figure itself is possibly as good as the Voyager. It's almost as possable, has as (un)convincing a vehicle form and actually get the proportions right. The only downside is the more simplistic detailing. This probably showcases why people were becoming so unhappy with regular TF toys at the time, while Cyberverse was gaining fans for being almost as good, at a much cheaper price. The battle platform it comes with is decent for what it is. It certainly makes the vehicle form look better. Prime Beast Hunters (Voyager): It's possability is decent, though could be better. It's stretched proportions actually improve on the appearance of the character design seen in the show. It's Beast Armour was thankfully removable, since there hadn't been a toy of the design before the BH toy line, although the armour itself is underwhelming. The gimmick on the cannon is annoying, due to it rendering both halves of the barrel (for a lack of better term) loose and rattly. There isn't much else to say about it. It's a decent toy that does all it has to and was my go-to Shockwave figure for some time. Siege: Another figure that does pretty much all it has to and nothing more. It is fairly well articulated, as has become standard for Generations TF. It is a pretty cruel joke that, after the Prime Wars trilogy had made Leader class figures of all the other members of the big 4 G1 'Cons, when we finally got a Leader Shockwave, he's just a Voyager (if that) with extra stuff, forcing people into restarting their collection. It's a good thing I hadn't liked the Leader figures the big 4 got in Prime War and hadn't bought them. Speaking of the extra stuff, it's really weird, giving him extra arms attached to giant shoulders that look like his legs. It's fun but it does not match the grittier style of Siege. More importantly, I can't say that it's worth the Leader price point and I don't think I would've bought it if I hadn't been able to get it from Amazon at a substantially reduced price. Cyberverse (Spark Armour): It's decent. That's all I really have to say about it. For a toy as small as it is, it's decently possable and accurate to Shockwave in the cartoon, garbage vehicle form and all. The armour does a decent job at souping up the robot. The satellite is an odd vehicle form for the armour but I like to think of it as a callback to Energon Shockblast. Cyberverse (Deluxe): Basically just like the Spark Armour figure but slightly improved. With a design as simple as Cyberverse Shockwave's, there's not really much room for a Deluxe to improve upon a toy as decent as the Spark Armour figure. Studio Series: For the longest time, I wasn't going to get this figure. A heavy retool of SS ROTF Megatron, the figure is smaller than the character should be and doesn't justify the Leader Price point. I eventually caved as I don't own SS DOTM Megatron, so Shockwave only needs to match SS ROTF Megatron's height (although I'd prefer him to be taller). Plus, at the time it was released, Studio Series hadn't found many chances to reuse molds, so one could maybe justify this one being a rip-off, although the Buzzworthy BB line has put an end to that line of thinking. As for the figure beyond it's height, like all SS figures, it's detailing is excellent and as the character didn't change into anything in the movie, they can entirely compromise the vehicle in order to make the robot look it's best. The possability is good and I do like the shiny (though inaccurate) paint.

Eh, I have a few. I also think @analogue and @Cerberus have some as well. Not positive, though.   For my collection, it's 99.9% official-only, with the exception being the WST one. None of that KO or TP nonsense for me.

Cerberus

Oh boy... As dachande and analogue i got most of the monoeyed scientist incarnations I dont do doubles or redeco of the same toy, so usuallyi get the best version of each mold (only exeption is animated shockwave, the grey one act as longarm). Just missing a few pieces like the authentic recently released and two ko variations of the original astromagnum mold... Didnt get the revoltech and the botcon (jazz redeco) but got the third party revoltech and a custom of the same botcon mold so...better in some way. Unlike the guys mentionned before i do get the third party figures..which means quite a few additionnal Shockwaves to my collection (that said, with the repaints and everything, pretty sure analogue is still far ahead on the total of figs lol )

@Tyjos One thing to note about the KO - the hose is on the short side, so the left arm doesn't always display as easily as the original. Also, the silver screws tend to stand out a bit more. Other than that, I don't think there is a whole lot of issues. I for one would recommend seeking out an original - it's worth it, but you will want to keep an eye out for a few issues, such as the condition of the gun hose, the battery compartment cover, if there is stress marks or breaking around the legs/crotch, and if the legs remain extended when standing. those are the biggest issues with an original G1. As far as how many Shockwaves I have, I collect official or licensed releases only and the count for unique releases is now at 94. I have doubles of most, with at least one loose and MISC/MOSC of most, triples of some, and a few I have over a dozen of, such as the tiny turbo changers, of which I think I'm approaching 40ish. So the actual total count is probably north of 300 pieces. I collect all repaints, so there are some duplicates, such as with the DoTM voyager mold for example I have the original, the Movie the Best, the Cyber Metal Armor version, and the Astro Magnum homage from the streetside bot brawl pack. I’ve attached some pictures, but they were mostly taken after the Siege Shockwave’s release, so a bit out of date. I have WFC Siege Shockwave. People balk at that Leader Class price but he is a great figure imo and the unofficial Gun mode and the official spaceship mode look great. The extra gear is fun to build stuff with but he looks great on his own. I’ve a got a Deluxe Cyberverse Shockwave and bought my son an Ultra Class Wave. Both look great in robot mode but his spider cannon mode is pretty lame. I want to buy two of those Shackwave as kind of minion bots.

Why were so many metro stations in Moscow renamed?

Okhotny Ryad station in Soviet times and today.

Okhotny Ryad station in Soviet times and today.

The Moscow metro system has 275 stations, and 28 of them have been renamed at some point or other—and several times in some cases. Most of these are the oldest stations, which opened in 1935.

The politics of place names

The first station to change its name was Ulitsa Kominterna (Comintern Street). The Comintern was an international communist organization that ceased to exist in 1943, and after the war Moscow authorities decided to call the street named after it something else. In 1946, the station was renamed Kalininskaya. Then for several days in 1990, the station was called Vozdvizhenka, before eventually settling on Aleksandrovsky Sad, which is what it is called today.

The banner on the entraince reads:

The banner on the entraince reads: "Kalininskaya station." Now it's Alexandrovsky Sad.

Until 1957, Kropotkinskaya station was called Dvorets Sovetov ( Palace of Soviets ). There were plans to build a monumental Stalinist high-rise on the site of the nearby Cathedral of Christ the Saviour , which had been demolished. However, the project never got off the ground, and after Stalin's death the station was named after Kropotkinskaya Street, which passes above it.

Of course, politics was the main reason for changing station names. Initially, the Moscow Metro itself was named after Lazar Kaganovich, Joseph Stalin’s right-hand man. Kaganovich supervised the construction of the first metro line and was in charge of drawing up a master plan for reconstructing Moscow as the "capital of the proletariat."

In 1955, under Nikita Khrushchev's rule and during the denunciation of Stalin's personality cult, the Moscow Metro was named in honor of Vladimir Lenin.

New Metro stations that have been opened since the collapse of the Soviet Union simply say "Moscow Metro," although the metro's affiliation with Vladimir Lenin has never officially been dropped.

Zyablikovo station. On the entrance, there are no more signs that the metro is named after Lenin.

Stations that bore the names of Stalin's associates were also renamed under Khrushchev. Additionally, some stations were named after a neighborhood or street and if these underwent name changes, the stations themselves had to be renamed as well.

Until 1961 the Moscow Metro had a Stalinskaya station that was adorned by a five-meter statue of the supreme leader. It is now called Semyonovskaya station.

Left: Stalinskaya station. Right: Now it's Semyonovskaya.

Left: Stalinskaya station. Right: Now it's Semyonovskaya.

The biggest wholesale renaming of stations took place in 1990, when Moscow’s government decided to get rid of Soviet names. Overnight, 11 metro stations named after revolutionaries were given new names. Shcherbakovskaya became Alekseyevskaya, Gorkovskaya became Tverskaya, Ploshchad Nogina became Kitay-Gorod and Kirovskaya turned into Chistye Prudy. This seriously confused passengers, to put it mildly, and some older Muscovites still call Lubyanka station Dzerzhinskaya for old times' sake.

At the same time, certain stations have held onto their Soviet names. Marksistskaya and Kropotkinskaya, for instance, although there were plans to rename them too at one point.

"I still sometimes mix up Teatralnaya and Tverskaya stations,” one Moscow resident recalls .

“Both have been renamed and both start with a ‘T.’ Vykhino still grates on the ear and, when in 1991 on the last day of my final year at school, we went to Kitay-Gorod to go on the river cruise boats, my classmates couldn’t believe that a station with that name existed."

The city government submitted a station name change for public discussion for the first time in 2015. The station in question was Voykovskaya, whose name derives from the revolutionary figure Pyotr Voykov. In the end, city residents voted against the name change, evidently not out of any affection for Voykov personally, but mainly because that was the name they were used to.

What stations changed their name most frequently?

Some stations have changed names three times. Apart from the above-mentioned Aleksandrovsky Sad (Ulitsa Kominterna->Kalininskaya->Vozdvizhenka->Aleksandrovsky Sad), a similar fate befell Partizanskaya station in the east of Moscow. Opened in 1944, it initially bore the ridiculously long name Izmaylovsky PKiO im. Stalina (Izmaylovsky Park of Culture and Rest Named After Stalin). In 1947, the station was renamed and simplified for convenience to Izmaylovskaya. Then in 1963 it was renamed yet again—this time to Izmaylovsky Park, having "donated" its previous name to the next station on the line. And in 2005 it was rechristened Partizanskaya to mark the 60th anniversary of victory in World War II.

Another interesting story involves Alekseyevskaya metro station. This name was originally proposed for the station, which opened in 1958, since a village with this name had been located here. It was then decided to call the station Shcherbakovskaya in honor of Aleksandr Shcherbakov, a politician who had been an associate of Stalin. Nikita Khrushchev had strained relations with Shcherbakov, however, and when he got word of it literally a few days before the station opening the builders had to hastily change all the signs. It ended up with the concise and politically correct name of Mir (Peace).

The name Shcherbakovskaya was restored in 1966 after Khrushchev's fall from power. It then became Alekseyevskaya in 1990.

But the station that holds the record for the most name changes is Okhotny Ryad, which opened in 1935 on the site of a cluster of market shops. When the metro system was renamed in honor of Lenin in 1955, this station was renamed after Kaganovich by way of compensation. The name lasted just two years though because in 1957 Kaganovich fell out of favor with Khrushchev, and the previous name was returned. But in 1961 it was rechristened yet again, this time in honor of Prospekt Marksa, which had just been built nearby.

In 1990, two historical street names—Teatralny Proyezd and Mokhovaya Street—were revived to replace Prospekt Marksa, and the station once again became Okhotny Ryad.
