On these comprehensive cruises from Fiji to Tahiti on 102-guest Nat Geo Orion, uncover the tropical beauty and important cultural history of the South Seas. The archipelagos of the South Pacific have defined our notion of “island paradise” since Robert Louis Stevenson told his tales and Paul Gauguin captured Polynesia in paint. While sailing from Tahiti’s lush volcanic crags to the sparkling white shores of Fiji, discover a fascinating geology and a stunning wealth of bird species and marine life. Dive or snorkel among underwater canyons and tunnels formed from lava. Meet island communities. And explore the far-flung reef systems of the extraordinary archipelagos of the South Pacific.
These cruises to Samoa offer many highlights. Visit the marae complex of Marae Taputapuātea, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important cultural sites in Polynesia. Snorkel, swim, or stand-up paddleboard in the clear aqua lagoons and reefs of French Polynesia. Spot rare and colorful birds and flowers on Fiji’s spectacular Garden Island, Taveuni, and in the rainforests of Samoa. And visit remote island villages to discover rich cultural histories, including the tradition of fire-walking in Fiji.
Come aboard the 102-guest National Geographic Orion for attentive service with a nearly 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio. This small expedition ship is also educational with advanced technology and a full set of exploration tools, including an ROV and enough kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and Zodiacs to send all guests out exploring at the same time. Additionally, select cabins offer private balconies for special moments taking in the awe-inspiring paradise featured on cruises from Fiji to Tahiti.

2025 Reverse Fiji & Tahiti Adventure: Vibrant Reefs & Cultural History Itinerary
The reverse, eastbound Fiji & Tahiti Adventure: Vibrant Reefs & Cultural History cruise sails from Lautoka, Fiji, through Samon and the Cook Islands, disembarking in Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia.
Arrive in Lautoka and transfer to a tour of western Viti Levu Island before embarking the ship.
National Geographic Orion
lunch, dinner
Explore Kadvadu’s stunning beauty. Witness a dramatic fire-walking ceremony at Beqa Island. Explore Taveuni—Fiji’s third largest island—known as The Garden Island for its rich vegetation which includes several species found nowhere else in the world. Experience warm Fijian welcomes at the village of Waitabu and snorkel in one of the Pacific’s most successful community marine parks. Explore the waterfalls of nearby Bouma National Heritage Park and dive nearby reefs.
breakfast, lunch, dinner
One of France’s South Pacific territories, the tiny island nation of Wallis and Futuna lies between Samoa and Fiji. In Futuna, stop at a historic “cannibal oven” and learn of the history of these fascinating people, before a warrior dance performance in front of the Cathedral of Poi. In Wallis, be greeted with local dancing and singing. Visit the beautiful crater lake Lalolalo and a cathedral built of blue volcanic stone, chiseled by hand.
With its spectacular beaches and dense green foliage, hidden waterfalls and lava-sculpted landscapes, Samoa captures the essence of the South Pacific. During the time on these islands, hike through rain forests vibrant with flowers and birds, take a dip in a swimming hole, go snorkeling or diving and soak up the languid rhythms of island life that drew Robert Louis Stevenson to these shores.
Today, let nature be your guide while discovering the pristine Cook Islands. Perhaps snorkel or dive among colorful coral, or choose to kayak or stand-up paddleboard in the warm, crystal waters. Then enjoy life aboard the ship for 2 days sailing east toward French Polynesia.
Spend the morning on deck while at sea, mesmerized by deep, sea-blue water while scanning the horizon for marine mammals and seabirds. One of the most important cultural sites in the Polynesian world, Marae Taputapuatea was a center for Polynesian seafarers and the location from which they set out for Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Hawaii and New Zealand. Spend time exploring this site on Ra’iatea, then refresh with a swim in the island’s lagoon. The ship transits to the nearby island of Taha’a overnight. Surrounded by a sparkling turquoise lagoon, Taha’a waters beckon: choose to snorkel, swim, kayak or just enjoy the surroundings from the white sandy beach.
Arrive in Papeete and take a tour of Tahiti. Then join the guides for lunch at the Intercontinental Tahiti. Check into a day room to relax before transfers to the airport for your flight home.

Cruise to Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Bora bora shore excursions, amazing experiences coming soon., sorry, there are no excursions for this port at this moment., things to do in bora bora.
Mountain High
View of Mount Otemanu in Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Mount Otemanu towers 2,400 feet above the lagoon. Its jagged peaks are among Bora Bora's most distinctive sights, and locals have held it as sacred since time immemorial — the bodies of ancient Polynesian kings rest here. You can get to the summit by 4x4 jeep tour, helicopter or good old-fashioned hike.
Get Friendly With Fish
Fish and a stingray in the ocean
Let a guided boat get you up close to the rainbow of underwater wildlife of Bora Bora. Observe black-tipped sharks via snorkel, or feed some of the friendly mantas while you enjoy the clear, calm waters.
History on Wheels
Explore the island on a 4x4 tour to hear the fascinating history of Bora Bora, spanning its ancient Polynesian past to its role as a military base in World War II. Whether it's a champagne tour or a hearty jungle trek, you can learn at exactly your speed.
Local Cuisine
Bora Bora's cuisine brings a mix of French, Asian and Tahitian flavors to the local seafood bounty. Looking for a breakfast fit to fuel a hike up Mount Otemanu. Try firi firi , a Tahitian donut that's also made with the ever-present coconut milk. Don't leave without trying the French Polynesian specialty, poisson cru , a ceviche of Tahitian ahi tuna in coconut milk and lime juice.
Head to the shops of Vaitape for stunning pearl jewelry — one of the signature items of French Polynesia, with the pearls themselves plucked straight from the lagoons. Other treasures include Tahitian tapestries, colorful printed pareus (sarongs), monoi oils for the skin and island fragrances laced with vanilla and tiare.

French Polynesia Cruises
The pearl of the South Pacific Ocean, Tahiti and its surrounding islands offer tropical gardens, sandy beaches and cerulean lagoons amplified with luxury hotels that feature over-water villas with glass floors, room service via canoe and much more. The isolation is the attraction – distant, exotic, romantic and unspoiled. The charming French flavour – ties that go back to the mid-1800s – will have you at “Bonjour!”

Directly south of the Hawaiian Islands and in line latitudinally with Lima, Peru, French Polynesia presents a lot to see and do, on-shore and off. It is a small-ship kind of luxury experience, where you can dive in crystal-clear lagoons, lounge on white-sand beaches, connect with the cultures and taste
all the local flavours. Top luxury packages can include Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Huahine and more. Cruising here presents oceans of days at sea, before dropping in on all the highlights of these regions, and then carrying on to New Zealand or Australia. Tully Luxury Travel can connect you with any number of intimate small ships, including private yachts, so you can explore wherever you like. Larger ships like the award-winning Paul Gauguin, an elegant five-star liner, take 300 guests on a cruise that includes a visit to the cruise company’s own private island of Motu Mahana. The 70 inhabited
islands of this South Pacific chain are very dependent on their lagoons. This has led to the development of natural marine sanctuaries, including the largest shark sanctuary in the world. Lagoon cruises on all the islands will take you to snorkel coral reefs, feed giant sting rays and swim with black-point sharks – all before sitting down to a barbecued lunch on a private island. Off the beaten path, you can open your South Pacific cruise itinerary to include Tuamotu, the largest group of atolls in the world; Rangiroa, home to the world’s only coral vineyard; Fakarava, famous for its amazing diving and marine life; or Les Marquesas for some real privacy – the ultimate luxury.

What is your approach to planning a luxury cruise? With new clients, I like to get to know them and really listen to their needs or wishlist, as well as asking all the appropriate questions to assist me in my research.
Jackie Grittani
Senior Travel Designer
What is your approach to planning a bespoke luxury cruise? I try to find out what the client’s version of luxury is. What their interests are, do they like small ships or medium size. I ask what they are interested in spending and what kinds of trips they’ve done in the past.
What is the most memorable vacation you have planned for a client? I arranged a Regent cruise and customized pre-cruise tour in Beijing for a 50th wedding anniversary. They visited highlights including the Great Wall. After 21 days of being on the road, they were not yet ready to return home!
