On The Run tour Atlanta ... EPIC EPIC EPIC! A must see! I've seen Jay Z live many times but to see him and Bey live! Oh my God it was so freaking DOPE! Of course Jay has hits for days. Bey while I'm not a huge fan did her thing and she has amazing stage presence. I give her props a lot of people can't sing live, perform and interact with the audience. Jay's personality on stage is everything he's so laid back and cool and funny. The band was bad! They killed every set. While I'm not gonna give away anything for those who haven't seen it yet PAY ATTENTION! They reveal a lot of things about themselves in this show which I thought was so amazing! Jay and Bey changed their outfits so many times but the timing and sequence of the show was perfect. Of course I'm biased but Jay sang all hits! My fave part was the end of the show it had me near tears... The whole show was just what you expect from a power couple like The Carters. I recommend EVERYONE who can go see this show Go! One of THE best concerts I've ever been to. I will say the only thing I had an issue with was the actual stage set up, but they made up for that. Wish I bought tickets for another city definitely deserves an "Encore"!

this was the best concert i've been to in my life. on the website it didn't say who was opening and so when i got there everyone was just sitting waiting for beyonce. WELL DJ KHALID WALKS OUT AND GOES "DJ KHALIDDDDDDD" AND I STARTED CRYING!! I WAS SO SUPPRISED AND THEN GOLDLINK COMES OUT AND I WAS CRYING EVEN MORE (hes one of my favorites) IT WAS THE BEST SUPRISE SO BRAVO HOV AND BEY!! then when the show started it was AMAZING!! BEYONCÉ AND JAY Z WERE SO AMAZING IT REALLY WAS A WHOLE SHOW!! since it was the two of them they would switch off every so often (3-4 songs) and the concert never stopped. when they would both need a break they would show this cut scene of their life and like "never before seen photos" (ones that aren't on beyoncé's insta) and it was just so beautiful!!! I LOVED THE SHOW 15/10!!! i really enjoyed them and they had a live band and dancers and it was so great!! i would TOTALLY reccomend going to one of their concerts and i'm already planning to see the next one!! if you get seizures while looking at flashing lights i would not reccomend. also the music was very intense and VERY loud (that didn't bother me but it might bother others) LOVED IT GREAT JOB!!!

What could possibly be better than The Queen and The Gangster together on stage? Deafening beats and mesmerising visuals accompanied by a Bonnie & Clyde short film. Duets and solo performances each worthy of their own stadium show, incredible lighting and stage camera work topped off by the dance choreography and costume versatility that you would only expect from the world-class professionals that are Mr & Mrs Carter. A lot of love in the room with beaming smiles and obvious chemistry between the husband and wife - that energy extending throughout the stadium and getting everyone standing, dancing and screaming the lyrics song after song, hit after hit. Beyoncé had every girl in the house on their feet with 'Crazy In Love', 'All The Single Ladies' and 'Drunk in Love' and Jay-Z had everyone waving their arms to 'No Church In The Wild', 'Niggas In Paris', '99 Problems' and 'Holy Grail'. All in all, truly an unrivalled spectacle of artistry and talent which wrapped up with 'Halo' and a duet cover of 'Forever Young' whilst watching wedding footage and home videos of J+B with Blue Ivy. A memorable show worth every cent. They are the modern day classics.

Jay-Z is a timeless performer. All of his concerts are classic. He's so smooth and he has the mystery about himself that drives crowds wild.

Guys like him, girls like him. We all do! He makes good music, though. And while most of his concerts are easily sold out, I did find myself lucky enough to see him perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He performed Young Forever with his lovely wife Beyoncé, and they had that place rocking! They have such an intense chemistry that's so obvious every time they are together, and it lit that place up! I even recorded the concert on my phone just so I could relive the experience again. I watch it at least twice a week, and I'm like, "Yep, I was there!"

It's an awesome feeling, especially to be so close to two of the greatest performers in the industry right now. Jay-Z is a rap legend, and I don't say that lightly. He has some serious lyrical ability and he mannerisms during a live performance take it to the next level. It's all about energy, and Jay-Z knows how to bring it.

I would love to go to another show. Hopefully I'll get to see him and Kanye live. Would be epic!

Mr. Carter is one of my favorite rappers and I have been a fan since Reasonable Doubt (1996). His lyrics are truthful and personal. He has never forgotten where he came from. The minute you hear a Jay-Z beat you automatically want to jump up and jam. So seeing him in concert a few times has been a treat. There are no flashy sets or costumes just him killin it. I mean killin it!!!! This time I saw him was with the Queen B. My goodness I thought I died and went to heaven. My two favorites on one stage! I must have been dreaming. It was not a dream I was actually there in Miami at Sun stadium! The flow of the concert was perfect. Jay would perform them Bey and then they would perform together! Not a dull moment!!! The crowd was hyped and that was helpful! Everyone rockin out having a good time. I guess they are going to take it down since both have been touring but when they come back I will be there.

Had an awesome time. I’ve seen him live at least forty or fifty times and he always delivers. The stage the screens, the lighting, were all on point.

He performed two songs I hadn’t seen him do before “Imaginary Players” and “I Love the Dough ft Biggie Smalls” much to the delight of the crowd, especially because it was In Brooklyn.

“Allure” and “U Don’t Know” were my personal favorite performances.

It was money and time well spent.

Ah-mazing!!!! Literally everything I imagined and more! I’m still running off the adrenaline I experienced at the show. The setlist was an excellent combination of old and new songs and i love that he played a few Bay Area classics. It made the show feel so personal and as an SF native, i appreciates that. Would recommend 1000000%!! Jay, don’t ever change!

Awesome, at the best. He’s a serious and unique artist in what he does. A big 10+ Jay is my favorite artist by far. I love his authentic and genuine delivery that he always bring to the game. Definitely one of a kind. God broke the mold after the making of Mr. Carter!

robbbey’s profile image

One word: AMAZING. My first time seeing HOV in the flesh & it was amazing. He is every bit of the Brooklyn God that I imagined he would be. His energy is amazing; he's so laid back yet he gets the crowd so live. I don't even know how to put my excitement into words.

sarrah-fanny’s profile image

Amazing! Worth every single dime.....show started at 8:00 pm and ended at 11:30 pm. He did almost every song off his new album (4:44) and a BUNCH of the best songs from his old albums! It was super LIT! The energy in there was crazy! Would see him again and again!!!

Horses for Courses: Team chemistry counts in Bayou

Horses for Courses

Change Text Size

Team golf returns this week for the eighth time at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The 2017 edition changed the format from stroke play to 80 two-man teams.

Battling Pete Dye’s TPC Louisiana, located in the suburb of Avondale, will be split into Four-ball (best ball) and Foursomes (alternate shot). Rounds 1 and 3 will consist of Four-ball, while Rounds 2 and 4 will use Foursomes. The top 33 teams and ties after 36 holes will play the final two rounds.

The par-72 provides 7,425 yards and wanders through the marshlands and swamps of the Bayou. Protected by 106 bunkers and water penalty areas on eight holes, TPC Louisiana lurks with danger at every turn. Decisions, commitments and execution will keep teammates on edge throughout the round.

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (+450) sit at the top of the BetMGM Sportsbook board this week and will be the team to beat. The 2022 champions joined forces in 2021 for T11 and shared fourth in their title defense last year. Over three editions, they have rewritten the record books. Setting the tournament record of 29-under in 2022 was buoyed by an opening round 59, another record, in Round 1. Signing for 60 in Round 3, they matched the old scoring record and set the new Four-ball record of 119. The California duo matched the Foursomes scoring record in 2023 with 63 in Round 2.

Players listed are in the field this week; 2024 season stats.

Fighting the temptations of Pete Dye again this week will be different with a partner along for the ride. Having two balls in the fairway is better than one, and the same goes for birdie-or-better chances on the greens. Spraying it off the tee will come with two inches of TifSport Bermudagrass to navigate, plus the strategically placed bunkers. Closely mown areas around the greens, water penalty areas, and bunkers can halt the birdie barrage required to win. In a shootout, the more fairways and greens hit, the more chances to score, and that’s what’s on the cards this week.

Defending champions Nick Hardy and Davis Riley (+5500) rolled in last year as a pair for the first time and set the tournament scoring record on 30-under-par. Circling 30 birdies and one eagle against only two bogeys, the new duo matched the par-4 scoring record 14-under set by Cantlay and Schauffele in 2022. More impressively, they played the par 3s in 6-under, three shots better than any other winning twosome over the previous five editions.

Birdie Average

The tournament champions from 2023 and 2022 have posted 30-under and 29-under, and all six winning totals have been 20-under or better. Last year, qualifying for the weekend required 10-under par, but the average 36-hole chopping point is a shade above 7-under. The winning pair has circled 25 or more birdies in five of the previous six tournaments. Scrambling to save par and avoiding bogeys or worse is required to keep up in the swamp but rounds in the 60s will be needed to contend. The average winning score hovers around 26-under.

The Florida Gators duo of Billy Horschel and Tyson Alexander (+5000) in the swamp makes sense this week. Taking the youngster under his wing, Horschel, the winner here on his own ball in 2013 before the format changed, has been here and done this. Winning the team title with Scott Piercy in 2018, the winner last week at the Corales Puntacana Championship ran second two years ago with Sam Burns riding shotgun. Missing the cut last year with Carl Yuan, Alexander will not have a steep learning curve to navigate with the local legend.

Par-5 Scoring

The par 5s range on the card between 548 and 585 yards. The four opportunities provide the famous Pete Dye risk-reward opportunities that can shake up the leaderboard. Taking advantage of these 16 chances will keep teams in the hunt or pressure those chasing the lead. Playing with a partner will add extra gravitas to the risk portion of the equation. The state bird of Louisiana is not the eagle, but there are plenty of chances to make birdies.

Taylor Moore and Matt NeSmith (+4000) have teed it up here twice and have cashed T4 each time. One of the few duos to return for the third consecutive season, the first time they played as a team in 2022, they opened with 60 in Four-balls. Posting 49-under over two editions, they reduced their bogey intake from four in 2022 to only two in 2023.

Matching the Foursomes record of 63 last year in Round 4, the Canadian team of Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin (+2800) did not take long to figure this out. Finishing second the first time as a team, the boys from North of the border posted 67-63 in Foursomes. Finishing second on 28-under would have won four of the previous five Zurich Classics. Only squaring four bogeys on the week, the chemistry was evident.

Hadwin and Taylor's interview after Round 4 at Zurich Classic

Oddsmaker’s Extras

Beau Hossler and Sam Ryder (+5000): Leading or sharing the lead for the first 54 holes in 2023, the former and partner Wyndham Clark (not entered) couldn’t close the deal and finished third. The 2022 edition saw the latter and partner Doc Redman (not entered) backdoor a podium payday after a super 67 on Sunday. Both players will have a point of reference if things heat up on Sunday.

David Lipsky and Aaron Rai (+6600): After cashing T4 on debut, the pair returned last year for another top-15 payday (T13). Posting 43-under over the last two editions, they have opened with 62 and 61 in Four-balls. The third time might be the charm for continuing the momentum.

Charley Hoffman and Nick Watney (+25000): Playing for the seventh time together, Southern California (Hoffman) and Northern California (Watney) have cashed in five of six with four paydays T19 or better, including a pair of top-10 results.

jz tours tours 2023

After a long stretch of pressure, high stacks and emotionally draining tournaments, it’s time for a little fun in Louisiana at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. A loaded field of two-man teams has made its way to TPC Louisiana where a $8.9 million purse is up for grabs ($1,286,050 goes to each member of the winning team).

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, No. 6 and 8 in the Official World Golf Ranking, respectively, are the betting favorites at +400 and it’s easy to see why. The pair won the event in 2022 and tied for fourth last year. At last week’s RBC Heritage, Cantlay tied for 8th while Schauffele took a share of 22nd.

The highest-ranked player in the field, however, is Rory McIlroy. The world No. 2 is teaming up with fellow Irishman and good buddy Shane Lowry as he’s set to make his tournament debut.

Some of the other notable teams include Will Zalatoris/Sahith Theegala, Collin Morikawa/Kurt Kitayama, and Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick.

Cam Davis (50/1): T-49

Lucas Glover (55/1): T-33

A gross — some might call it disgusting — week, sure. But unless you’re picking Scottie every week, you’re not winning. Simple as that. Good news for all you gamblers out there: Scheffler isn’t in the field this week! We might have a chance to cash a bet.

Tom Hoge / Maverick McNealy (25/1)

Tom Hoge tees off on the first hole during the third round of The Players Championship PGA golf tournament Saturday, March 16, 2024 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union]

Picking winners at the Zurich is always a little tricky, so I’m relying on the basics this week: how well is each member of the team playing coming into the week.

Sure, Hoge tied for 18th at the RBC Heritage last week, but that was thanks to a quintuple-bogey nine on the par-4 18th. Plus, Hoge tied for 14th at the Texas Children’s Houston Open at the end of March.

In 10 starts this season, McNealy has made nine cuts and has finished inside the top 15 three times in his last six starts.

Billy Horschel / Tyson Alexander (40/1)

Horschel is coming off a win at the opposite field event last week, the Corales Puntacana Championship. Albeit without Alexander as a partner, Horschel has finished 1st (2018), T-13 (2019), T-4 (2021), 2nd (2022) and T-11 (2023) in his last five trips to TPC Louisiana.

Alexander didn’t have his best stuff at the Corales Puntacana, tying for 55th, but he did tie for 14th at the Valero Texas Open a few weeks ago.

Sepp Straka / Brice Garnett (40/1)

2024 Valspar Championship

Since missing the cut at the Valspar Championship in March, Straka has finished T-16 at the Masters and T-12 at the RBC Heritage. He’s trending in the right direction and heading to a golf course that should fit his game.

Garnett has a win already this season at the Puerto Rico Open and is coming off a T-12 performance at the RBC Heritage.

Thomas Detry / Robert McIntyre (45/1)

2024 Texas Children's Houston Open

Thomas Detry of Belgium walks the 12th hole during the first round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course on March 28, 2024 in Houston, Texas. (Photo by Logan Riely/Getty Images)

Detry tied for 62nd at the Players, but has since gotten hot. He tied for 17th at the Valspar Championship, for second at the Houston Open and for 20th at last week’s RBC Heritage.

MacIntyre hasn’t had his best stuff of late, but he’s due to contend in a PGA Tour event. The Zurich could act as a perfect springboard for the Scot.

LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

Speaking ahead of LIV Golf’s Adelaide event in his native Australia, Greg Norman offered his perspective on the state of the game.

Share All sharing options for: LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

LIV Golf, Greg Norman

Since LIV Golf launched in the spring of 2022, golf has been in flux, with the game’s best players competing on two separate circuits.

Many other issues exist within this reality, too. Money, equity, and, given who LIV Golf’s beneficiary is, moral issues and geopolitical ramifications have all bled into the sport.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to rectify this, PGA Tour brass and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) established a framework agreement on Jun. 6, 2023 , that not only shocked the sporting world but also set a pathway for the two sides to come together and re-establish a unified golf tour. Negotiations have occurred since then, but a finalized deal remains far away.

Yet, LIV Golf did not appear within that framework agreement then, and they do not have any influence on those negotiations now, according to LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman .

“I would love to give you insight, but I don’t have any. We at LIV are totally separate from that part of the negotiation,” Norman said in South Australia ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.

Greg Norman

“We at LIV are a standalone company being invested in by the same investor interested in the game of golf. Our investor wanted to invest in LIV because he loved the opportunity of the franchise model, what he could do with it, and how we could build it out on a global platform.”

Since last June, Norman has continued to champion LIV Golf’s cause, indicating on numerous occasions that its strength as a start-up league has never been stronger.

Nobody knows how LIV will look or how it will fit into professional golf’s new structure should the PGA Tour and the PIF strike a deal.

But Norman remains as confident in LIV Golf as he ever has. He said he received numerous compliments at Augusta National , where he lingered among the patrons at this year’s Masters Tournament . Norman said dozens of people approached him there and told him they love what he and LIV Golf have accomplished.

“The support, the recognition, the comments that were made, it was almost unanimous for three straight days walking around with people,” Norman said.

“To see it and to hear it and to hear the comments they made about what’s happening to the game of golf and the go that LIV has brought to the game of golf, it was very, very strong for me. It was a very powerful three days.”

LIV Golf

Norman, who envisioned a global golf tour in the mid-1990s, has seen that dream become a reality through LIV. He has helped bring golf to different places around the world often neglected by the PGA Tour and other major tours, such as Singapore, Thailand, and his native Australia.

In its first full year of operation last year, the event in Adelaide welcomed 77,000 fans, making it LIV’s most successful event of 2023. The “Watering Hole,” which has drawn comparisons to TPC Scottsdale’s famous par-3 16th , was a smashing success, too.

Over 100,000 spectators are expected at the South Australia tournament this week.

“This event here from last to this year is the benchmark for LIV,” Norman said.

“We get all the other events, 13 events around the world, to take a look at what we’ve delivered here, what Adelaide has delivered, what the state government has delivered, and what the local community and the region have delivered, and you go. It can be done.”

Norman’s focus remains on LIV, not on the negotiations between the PIF and the PGA Tour.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there,” Norman added.

“I really don’t want to know what’s going on over there because we are so fixated on growing and developing and building out what LIV is today and looking and doing our schedule for 2025 and going into 2026. Our responsibility is to look after our people, our players, and where we want to go.”

2024 Zurich Classic leaderboard, scores: Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry among leaders after Round 1

Mcilroy and lowry headline a crowded leaderboard as the competition moves to foursomes for friday.

rory-mcilroy-shane-lowry-round-1-2024-zurich-classic-g.jpg

There aren't many firsts left for Rory McIlroy to achieve in his PGA Tour career, but he checked one off the list Thursday at TPC Louisiana. Making his debut appearance in the Zurich Classic, the 34-year-old looked like the seasoned veteran he is alongside Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry. The two fired an 11-under 61 in the four-ball format amid the windy afternoon conditions to sit with the teams of Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard, Aaron Rai and David Lipsky and Ben Kohles and Patton Kizzire atop the leaderboard after Round 1.

While this week marks McIlroy's first attempt at claiming the PGA Tour's annual team event, it also represents his 11th start of the year as he continues to play through some relative early season struggles. McIlroy had no issues in the first round as he drove the ball beautifully, struck towering iron shots and picked apart the par-72 layout in unison with Lowry.

"You know that you sort of need to get off to a good start, and thankfully we did," McIlroy said. "We were 4 under through 4, which was really nice to see, and from there you've got some momentum and you're just trying to keep it going. But for the most part today, we kept both balls in play. We were having two looks basically on every hole at birdie, and that's the way you need to play better ball. Everyone thinks it's maybe a bit more gung ho than that, but as long as you have two balls in play off the tee, two balls on the green, I think you're always going to do pretty well in this format."

The two began their days with four birdies out the gate and tacked on a couple more to turn in 6-under 30. A birdie on No. 10 was followed with a disappointing par on the par-5 11th, but that did nothing to dampen their spirits. McIlroy struck his best iron of the day into the 12th when he feathered an 8 iron against the wind and to tap-in distance.

Lowry picked him up on the very next hole with a birdie of his own to get the team to 9 under and added another on the difficult par-3 14th to get to double digits under par. With four holes remaining, the two appeared likely to overtake the clubhouse lead, but a couple middling pars to go along with one last birdie on the par-5 18th meant there will be four teams sleeping on the lead tonight before the competition transitions to foursomes on Friday.

Let's take a look around the rest of the leaderboard after the first round in Louisiana.

The leaders

T1. Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry, David Lipsky/Aaron Rai, Ryan Brehm/Mark Hubbard, Ben Kohles/Patton Kizzire (-11)

Outside McIlroy and Lowry, the top of the leaderboard is surprising, to say the least. Hubbard has notched a couple top 20s, a top five and has yet to miss a cut this season while Rai has been solid, but the rest of the lot haven't seen the weekend with much consistency. Hubbard's teammate, Brehm, has seven missed cuts in 11 starts. Rai's teammate, Lipsky, has missed eight cuts in 11 starts and is without a top 40. Kizzire has six missed cuts and a withdrawal in nine starts, and Kohles has six missed cuts and a withdrawal in 11 starts. Four-ball can hide deficiencies, but the same cannot be said for foursomes, which will be played Friday and Sunday.

"Just like usual, we ham-and-egged it," Hubbard said. "I don't think either of us were feeling amazing about our games coming into the day, but we just feed off each other really well. We relax each other out there, and best ball is just a fun format. I didn't putt great last week, but he had a lot of holes where he snuggled it up there nice and close for par and it really freed me up. You just kind of get confidence that way, and I think even you watching me make some putts gave you confidence and you poured them in at the end."

Other contenders

T5. Davis Thompson/Andrew Novak, Thomas Detry/Robert MacIntyre, Cameron Champ/MJ Daffue (-10) T8. Sam Stevens/Paul Barjon, Garrick Higgo/Ryan Fox, Luke List/Henrik Norlander, Corey Conners/Taylor Pendrith, Zac Blair/Patrick Fishburn, Marc Meissner/Austin Smotherman, Callium Tarren/David Skinns, Keith Mitchell/Joel Dahmen (-9)

Detry and MacIntyre got off to a dream start by playing their first four holes in 4 under. After hitting a lull, the two turned it on and carded six back-nine birdies to shoot 10-under 62. MacIntyre has the team experience from this past fall's Ryder Cup, while Detry has been enjoying a very solid 2024 campaign. The staying power of all these teams on this leaderboard is interesting given the volatility of foursomes, but the two Europeans should be up to the task.

I think it's about leaving each other to it," MacIntyre said regarding Friday's strategy. "We're both good players, both know what we're doing with the golf ball. It's just trusting each other. If I hit a good shot, you hit a good shot. If you hit a bad shot, don't say sorry, you're not meaning to do it. You just keep walking forward and keep trying to hit good shots and committing to them and see where we end up. Can't really do anything about it. It's difficult because you might not hit a 5-foot putt until the 17th hole. It's completely different. All you can do is try your best."

2024 Zurich Classic updated odds, picks

Odds via Sportsline consensus

  • Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry: 13/5
  • Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay: 10-1
  • Aaron Rai/David Lipsky: 15-1
  • Thomas Detry/Robert MacIntyre: 16-1
  • Andrew Novak/David Thompson: 16-1
  • Nick Taylor/Adam Hadwin: 18-1
  • Corey Conners/Taylor Pendrith: 18-1
  • Joel Dahmen/Keith Mitchell: 20-1

Let's roll with the 2022 champion at 10-1. Schauffele and Cantlay burned a ton of edges on Thursday but kept themselves in it with a late flurry of birdies. They now transition to foursomes for two of the next three days where they were dominant a year ago. In 2023, the two fired a 9-under 63 in Round 2 and a 6-under 66 in Round 4 in this format. If they card something similar in the mid 60s tomorrow, they should be in business heading into the weekend.
