• Children must be at least 10 years of age.  An adult must accompany anyone 10-18 years old.
• No hats, bags or any loose items allowed.
• Must wear closed toed shoes.  No flip-flops or sandals.
• Long hair must be tied up at all times.
• Air Maui will provide each passenger a flight suit that will be required for all passengers to wear during flight.
• Cancellation policy:  No refunds or rescheduling within 48hrs of flight time.  For groups 12 or more 7 days notice is required.
• Flight routes and sights may vary due to weather conditions.
• Half hour prior check-in to all flights is required.
• Comfort seat charge for passengers weighing 230lbs or more or a combined weight of 400lbs. 

Meet at Maui's only heliport, at the Air Maui hangar in Kahului.  You will be welcomed by a friendly staff and receive personal check-in assistance.  Air Maui features some of Maui's most experienced pilots, with thousands of hours in flight time, and FAA-certified and factory-trained mechanics that inspect all components each day. You will feel safe and secure every step of the way.  Stop by their official retail shop where you can stock up on souvenirs as your flight is being prepared. For obvious safety reasons it's very important that accurate weights be reported when making your reservations. Due to FAA regulations all passengers must be weighed at check-in. Those passengers weighing over 230 lbs or couples with combined weight over 400 lbs may be required to purchase a comfort seat.  If you have any questions regarding this rule please contact our reservation lines at 1-808-214-9910. Passengers who grossly underestimate their weight may be subject to being bumped off the flight without any compensation or refund.   Flight pattern cannot be guaranteed and is subject to change due to weather and done at captain's discretion.  Front Seat Upgrade option:  There are two front seats on the A-STAR helicopter.  In order to purchase the upgrade the maximum combined weight for both passengers cannot exceed 380 lbs. • Wheelchair Accessibility: Helicopter is not equipped with a lift, and there must be a member of your party that can provide assistance into the aircraft.
• Doors-ON: Groups of two with a combined weight of 420lbs or more will be subject to a comfort seat charge at the cost of one additional seat.
• Doors-ON: Participants 240 lbs or more will be subject to a comfort seat charge at the cost of one additional seat.

• It is an FAA requirement that any child that has reached their second birthday is occupied in their own seat. The price for children 2+ years old is the same as a regular seat. If your child is under 2 years old they are considered to be a lap child and are allowed to go at no additional charge.

How far in advance should I book this activity?

We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last-minute bookings are often possible, but availability is limited.

If I don't get a window seat, what will the visibility be like?

If you do not have a window seat you will be seated next to someone else in your group. Solo travelers will most likely get a window seat unless weight balance makes it impossible. For couples, it is easy to look over your partner from the inner seat.

What kind of helicopter will be used?

An Aerospatiale / American Eurocopter A-Star 350BA - Aerial 1B Engine with all of the current modifications (Ceramic Swirl Plate, MO5 Gears) will be used. This 1996 Helicopter is outfitted with air-conditioning, 2 compact disc players, Bose Headsets, a 5-camera system and viewing monitors. It is currently the only A-Star that offers 180-degree unobstructed views!

Restrictions/Requirements:

• ONLY YOUR CELL PHONE IS ALLOWED ON BOARD.  NO OTHER CAMERA DEVICE IS ALLOWED! We will provide a lanyard case for passengers cell phone that will be attached to them during flight.
• Children must be at least 10 years of age.  An adult must accompany anyone 10-18 years old.
• No hats, bags or any loose items allowed.
• Must wear closed toed shoes.  No flip-flops or sandals.
• Long hair must be tied up at all times.
• We will provide each passenger a jacket that will be required for all passengers to wear during flight.
• Flight routes and sights may vary due to weather conditions.
• Half hour prior check-in to all flights is required.
• Comfort seat charge for passengers weighing 240lbs or more or a combined weight of 420lbs.
• FAA regulations require us to weigh all passengers and bags at check-in. For each passenger weighing 240 pounds or a combined weight of 420 pounds per couple, an additional seat must be purchased. This is for the safety and comfort of all passengers.
• No tablets, extension/selfie sticks or bags/ purses allowed on board
• Front seat passengers MUST wear dark/black clothing due to the reflection

DIRECTIONS TO THE KAHULUI HELIPORT:

From Lahaina/Kaanapali/Kapalua Area (Allow 60-70 minutes drive time): Take Hwy 30 to Hwy. 380. Stay straight as 380 turns in to Airport Access road. Stay in right hand lane and turn right on Hwy 36 Hana Hwy. drive 2 miles to Hwy 37 (Haleakala Hwy). Turn left and drive straight into Heliport. Air Maui is the last hangar.

From Kihei/Wailea Area (Allow 30-45 minutes drive time): Take Hwy 31 to Hwy 311 (Mokulele hwy.) Turn right on Ho’okele St. drive for about 2 miles and turn right on to hwy. 36 (Hana hwy.) Drive about a mile and turn left on hwy. 37 (Haleakala hwy.) Drive 2 blocks the heliport is strait ahead. Air Maui is the last hangar.

Parking:  Heliport parking fee must be paid BEFORE you fly, $8 (for 2hrs). The parking machine is located at the beginning of the parking lot on the right (only one kiosk) and takes VISA/MC (NO AMEX) or EXACT change when paying cash. No cash change is given.

Breathtaking views. Smooth ride. Awesome pilot. This was so incredibly worth the cost as you can’t see many of these sites from the ground. Doors off was crazy amazing. The cliffs of Molokai were breathtaking. If I ever get back to Maui I would certainly do it again!

Worth noting that parking is as described. Pay as you go in, then drive to the end where their office is. Easy to find.

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

  Even if you are not a massive fan of the USSR, Lenin or socialism, Gorki Leninskie on the outskirts of Moscow is still a great place to visit, as it is one of the few estate houses in Russia belonging to a middling-class of landowners which has survived today with its interior intact. Of course the reason it has survived intact is thanks to the fact that Lenin spent the last years of his life here and after his death it was turned into a museum. Before Lenin, the estate belonged to the Zinaida Morozova – the widow of the famous Russian patron of the arts Savva Morozov. After the death of her husband, Zinaida wanted to turn the estate at Gorki into a family home with her new husband Anatoly Reinbolt, and the famous Russian architect Fyodor Shekhtel was hired to carry out the reconstruction

  Transfer to the Gorki Leninskie Museum-Reserve. Your guide will wait for you in the lobby of your hotel with a sign saying   .  The journey can take up to 1h30 hours depending on traffic.

• The Large House – this is the house where Lenin spent the last years of his life and where he died on 21 January 1924. You will see not only the rooms where he worked and relaxed, but also the rooms of his sister, the beautiful summer gardens and lots of items connected with Lenin and the former owners of the estate.
• Lenin’s Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost – this car was bought in England for governmental use. At first it was a standard car with four wheels, but it was transferred to a factory in St Petersburg for modification: its body was placed on caterpillar tracks and skis were attached to the front. Lenin travelled from Moscow to Gorki in this car, and made trips around the Moscow Region in it. On the night of 21 January 1924, after the autopsy on Lenin's body, Lenin’s brain was taken in this car to Moscow to be studied, and on the return journey the car brought back a zinc coffin.
• Lenin's Kremlin office and apartment – on 12 December 1922 Lenin worked for the last time at his office in the Kremlin and departed for Gorki. His Kremlin office and apartment was then sealed shut. During the presidency of Yeltsin the rooms were opened up and it was decided to transfer the furniture to Gorki Leninskie where the rooms were recreated. You will see here the actual furniture that Lenin used as well as other interesting artefacts, some of which date from an even earlier period: a map of the time of the Russian Civil War, materials for congresses and conferences, collections of statistics, and presents from workers and peasants sent from all over the country. The clocks in the office display the time of 8.15 when Lenin last left his office.
• Lenin Museum – this is the newest building on the estate. The museum was built in 1987 and represents a true monument of the late Soviet period. The museum was cutting edge for its time and features audio components. The centre of each hall has a cube of black glass which displays a six-minute long film. The museum may be dedicated to Lenin, but today it also serves as a museum of the technology and spirit of the Soviet Union in the 1980s. 
• Burial of the Leader Monument - this is one of the most unusual monuments of Vladimir Lenin. Nowhere else is the founder of the Soviet Union depicted as a corpse being carried, after all “Lenin lived, Lenin lives and Lenin will always live". The designer is Sergey Merkurov who also was responsible for creating Lenin’s death mask. He was at the time the country’s leading specialists in death masks and also worked on death masks for Lev Tolstoy, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Mikhail Bulgakov and Maksim Gorky.
