Since Roman times, Roda de Berà has become a very important point of communication, since it was close to the old Vía Augusta , and history and the passing of time have turned Roda de Berà into the beautiful municipality that it is today. leaving an indelible mark on the cultural heritage and the spirit of its inhabitants.

Its spectacular beaches of fine golden sand, the attraction of its cultural heritage, its squares and alleys, its charming corners, have turned Roda de Berà into a prominent tourist enclave on the Costa Daurada.

Roda, Corfu – What’s It Like?

Thinking of booking a trip to  Roda on Corfu? Here’s what to expect from this sandy beach resort .

Where is it?

Roda is in the middle of Corfu’s north coast , between Sidari and Acharavi .

What’s the vibe like?

Sign on a tree for Pirate Beach Bar.

Roda is a medium-small beach resort known for its generous sandy beach and good range of amenities.

The resort itself is walkable , low-rise and flat .

It’s a former fishing village and there’s a small harbour with a few working vessels.

Unlike neighbours Kassiopi and Sidari , Roda isn’t really on the day-trip circuit so the beach doesn’t get too crowded.

It’s quiet and family-friendly but has a good range of amenities and  gets lively enough in the evening with Greek nights, karaoke, quizzes, and live music.

Roda is popular with package tourists, returnees, expats and regulars. The crowd is mainly British with some Europeans, particularly young families and older couples looking for a good-value beach break.

There are plenty of beachside tavernas and cafes, and a few backstreets with tourist shops and travel agencies.

It’s one of the more commercialised resorts in Corfu but has a relaxed and unhurried air.

Tourist shops in Roda.

What’s the beach like?

Sand on Roda beach.

Roda is a north-facing resort and home to one of the best sandy beaches on Corfu.

The sand on the main town beach is super-soft and is lined with beach bars. The water is shallow and gently shelving , perfect for families with young children. There may be some seagrass towards the end of the season though.

If you prefer an unorganised beach then keep walking west – the beach gets narrower but scenic.

And east past the harbour is a long 7km stretch of beach that eventually becomes Acharavi. The Roda end is narrow and pebbly though, with a small quiet road running right behind it. You can walk to Acharavi this way.

The sea here is rougher than on the main beach but is crystal clear and spotlessly clean.

Crystal clear seas on Roda beach.

Activities and amenities

Signs advertising excursions around Corfu.

If you get bored of the beach, Roda has an excellent range of excursions and evening activities on offer.

There are are several agencies in Roda who can arrange bus and bus trips around the island and beyond, including to the waterparks for the little ones.

Sidari and Kassiopi are an easy bus ride or short drive away.

There are a few streets with tourist shops selling clothes, souvenirs, inflatables, snorkelling gear, and mini-markets.

In the middle of the village is an old church and the small ruins of an ancient temple.

Roda has are a few pharmacies but if you’re staying for a while there are more amenities (including a large supermarket) a short distance up the road at Acharavi.

During the summer season you may find some water-sports on offer however there’s a wider range at nearby Sidari .

Price list for Corfu excursions.

Transport and accessibility

Road behind Roda beach.

From the airport:

Roda is a 1 hour drive from Corfu Airport and Corfu Town .

A private transfer from the airport is around €60.

Hoppa  is available for shared transfers.

Public transport:

Roda is served by Corfu’s Green Bus system, route A3 . There are daily buses from the KTEL bus station just outside Corfu Town. Tickets are €3.60 one way (may be more expensive if you purchase from the driver rather than from a shop or kiosk).

Sometimes during peak summer season there are extra bus routes available linking popular resorts (including neighbouring Acharavi, Roda, and Kassiopi) but do check before you go as these aren’t always operating.

The bus stop is right next to the beach.

Accessibility :

There are a few steps to the main beach from most access points. There are some sections of beach with a road or footpath running alongside but not all.

There’s plenty of parking right by the beach.

To reach some of the quieter western beaches may require a dirt track.

There is no  Seatrac for wheelchair access.

Taverna menu in Roda.

Roda is excellent value – there’s a wide range of traditional budget accommodation.

Sun-loungers are generally free to customers using the attached cafe.

Food and drinks prices are below average for Corfu.

Where to stay

As Roda is flat and spacious there are plenty of small family-run hotels with a pool or garden for a good prices – check Booking.com for a wide selection.

All Wine Tours

In late 1980’s, Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella arrived in La Rioja to start a bodega with a new word in winemaking. The construction of the new winery was completed in 2001.

Bodegas Roda is located in the Railway Station District (Barrio de la Estación) in Haro, right over a 19th century “calado”, an impressive underground cellar.

At Roda, winemakers follow Bordeaux style, meaning that only grapes from the estate’s own parcels are used to make wine. Vinification is done in temperature-controlled French oak vats and aging is completed in French oak barrels.

Come to visit from Monday to Saturday: at 10 am and at 12 pm (2 hours duration).

Languages: English, Spanish or French. By appointment.

Bodegas Roda offer guided tours, extended tastings, comparison of Rioja wines with Ribera del Duero wines, tasting of virgin olive oil, and even lunch with wine and local specialties at the terrace overlooking the Ebro river.

You can just taste wines by the glass at the wine bar too.

How about a carriage ride through the vineyards and a tasting with a view of vineyards?

Rifugi del catinaccio

RODA DE VAEL - Via Rizzi, east-face

Catinaccio mountain refuges.

roda de tour

After the difficult shoot, the wall can be traversed at several points, but the path normally followed and equipped (often red on the stops) is shown;

Difficulty: D+ (4th with one 5th sustained shot, rarely less).

Times: to the start from the hut 30 minutes; climbs in hours 3.30-4.00; return to refuge in 45 minutes.

Material: if you intend to stay on the real route, the climb is well-equipped; useful (not essential) cams on the 5th stich; six quickdraws are enough, max 8.

Report: from the Roda di Vael hut (m 2283) go along the trail no. 541 heading to the Cigolade pass, until it reaches the vertical of the summit; you can avoid the last bad shot by going to the right.

How to escape the dihedral: if the difficult dihedral of the 3rd shot frightens a bit, it is advisable to move around it to the left, joining the "Schroffenegger" and getting to an homogeneous 4th degree route.

Descent: reach the summit through the meadows, follow the path of the via ferrata on the south side. You arrive at the large fork that separates from the S. Giuliana Croz, continue down the marked path to the east until you reach the Roda de Vael hut (1 hour).

Alternatively, from the big fork, you continue to follow the ferrata that goes back to the base of the Torre Finestra and leads along a path to a crossing: one of the path leads to the Masarè via ferrata (right), the other head s down to the refuge by using a set of equipped canals.

The 77th Tour de Romandie packs in 11,000m of climbing across six stages in Switzerland

Cristian Rodriguez time trials at the Tour of Romandie

  • FREE live streams
  • Watch from anywhere
  • Route & stages

Last year's winner Adam Yates and third-placed Damiano Caruso both return to this six day-stage race in Romandie, the French speaking area of west Switzerland to battle again in the region's beautiful mountain scenery.

Read on and we'll show you how to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams from anywhere with a VPN , and potentially for FREE .

Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams take place between Tuesday, April 23 and Sunday, April 28. Start times vary. • FREE STREAMS —   Watch on SRF (Switzerland) •   U.S. — Watch on FloBikes •   U.K. — Watch on Discovery+ • Watch anywhere — Try NordVPN

Starting with a minuscule 2.3km prologue in the town of Payerne, the 77th Tour de Romandie will cover a total of 657km and pack in over 11,000m of climbing with a time trial on stage three and summit finishes on both stages two and four at Les Marécottes and Leysin.

Favourite to repeat his victory of last year will be Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) who will be backed up by a strong team including Pavel Sivakov, Felix Großschartner and Juan Ayuso. Leading the challenge will be the ever improving Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) winner of the recent Giro d’Abruzzo Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Qazaqstan Team) and young French star Lenny Martinez (Groupama - FDJ).

The course isn’t just for the climbers though as with a prologue and a mid-race time trial many TT specialists are on the start sheet too including Josh Tarling and Ethan Hayter from (INEOS Grenadiers) and Rémi Cavagna (Movistar Team).

After the very short prologue normality returned on stage one with the riders facing the 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg. For a while it looked like the day's early break would succeed but it was consumed by the peloton with around 20km left.

After a chaotic sprint the win was taken by Dorian Godon (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) with his team mate Andrea Vendrame on his wheel to make it a 1-2 for the team which is having an exceptional year.

Stage two is where the climbing starts with two huge mountains and a summit finish so read on for where to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 cycling action live, wherever you are in the world.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race.

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.
