Although I would recommend taking this cruise in the summer because it was cold and rainy when we went. If you're visiting before May definitely bring a jacket, hat, scarf etc. My one issue with this cruise was that they said they would provide us with snacks but they didn't and when I asked the man at the bar he said he had no idea what I was talking about and that my barcode for the snacks wasn't valid. I wondered at first if the lack of guide commentary would make it not worthwhile, but actually it let us focus on vibes rather than facts which is a very nice way to spend an evening, especially with one's partner. The seine is lit up with lovely yellow lighting, and even the boat lit up with fairy lights as the tour went on! It was beautiful. At the start of our tour the Eiffel Tower sparkled, so the timing is just right for catching the lights starting. It rained and was a bit windy while we were up there, but we came prepared with waterproof ponchos and Scottish stubbornness and had a great time all the same. But if you don't feel like sitting in the rain, you can take shelter underneath and pop up for photos, plenty of people did just that. I would recommend arriving in plenty of time and double checking to make sure you have the right port - there are a few competing companies very close to each other and we saw one unlucky pair get told they were at the wrong one! It pays to arrive early anyway because then you get early choice of seats, which I am sure makes a big difference in the high tourist season. Was in Paris with my wife and two young daughters, and wanted to give them the proper Paris experience, so booked the Eiffel Tower, and then a boat cruise setting off form the foot of the tower. Our tour of the tower had taken A LOT more than the 2.5 hours advertised by the tour company, as initially we had allowed ourselves 1.5 hours between tours, but our tower tour was over 4 hours long, and it was 13:45 before we were off the tower, and our sailing was booked for 13:30. Thankfully the cruise company are very accommodating, and let us on the 14:00 sailing. Done Seine cruises before, and always enjoyed them, and this was was excellent also. Should have scheduled when the full tour was available. Never-the-less, the sites were amazing as they lit up at night. Two things detracted from the tour: 1) the upper deck was ridiculously over crowded and the rows of chairs placed so close together that there was almost no leg room. Despite that, people kept coming and pushed themselves into every chair jamming our knees and feet in the process. 2) the 'lounge singer' music certainly didn't add to the ambience and the speakers were placed so that they couldn't be avoided. The crowd of people on board were loud, and apparently felt a need to use every underpass as an opportunity for howling and hooting during the entire length. Huh? This was due to previous rain and the water level of the river so beyond the company's control, I realize. Also though it was a beautiful sunny day, the roof top seating was completely closed leaving only a few seats outdoors, all seating was enclosed which was far less enjoyable. The narrator of the tour was a little difficult to hear and didn't manage to captivate our attention- this was probably mostly because she didn't have many monuments or major sites to talk about. Unfortunately our guide spoke French about 85-90% of the time. I’m sure it would be a good cruise if you knew French. They advertised that it would be in French and English. Although I would recommend taking this cruise in the summer because it was cold and rainy when we went. If you're visiting before May definitely bring a jacket, hat, scarf etc. My one issue with this cruise was that they said they would provide us with snacks but they didn't and when I asked the man at the bar he said he had no idea what I was talking about and that my barcode for the snacks wasn't valid. • Cora_Visits_Places 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Night Seine Cruise with Music We opted for the night cruise with music and were so happy with our experience! I wondered at first if the lack of guide commentary would make it not worthwhile, but actually it let us focus on vibes rather than facts which is a very nice way to spend an evening, especially with one's partner. The seine is lit up with lovely yellow lighting, and even the boat lit up with fairy lights as the tour went on! It was beautiful. At the start of our tour the Eiffel Tower sparkled, so the timing is just right for catching the lights starting. It rained and was a bit windy while we were up there, but we came prepared with waterproof ponchos and Scottish stubbornness and had a great time all the same. But if you don't feel like sitting in the rain, you can take shelter underneath and pop up for photos, plenty of people did just that. I would recommend arriving in plenty of time and double checking to make sure you have the right port - there are a few competing companies very close to each other and we saw one unlucky pair get told they were at the wrong one! It pays to arrive early anyway because then you get early choice of seats, which I am sure makes a big difference in the high tourist season. Was in Paris with my wife and two young daughters, and wanted to give them the proper Paris experience, so booked the Eiffel Tower, and then a boat cruise setting off form the foot of the tower. Our tour of the tower had taken A LOT more than the 2.5 hours advertised by the tour company, as initially we had allowed ourselves 1.5 hours between tours, but our tower tour was over 4 hours long, and it was 13:45 before we were off the tower, and our sailing was booked for 13:30. Thankfully the cruise company are very accommodating, and let us on the 14:00 sailing. Done Seine cruises before, and always enjoyed them, and this was was excellent also. • 1tomm1 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Overcrowded with annoying music This evening cruise was shortened stopping just before reaching Isle de Cite so we were not able to see anything on that side of the river. Should have scheduled when the full tour was available. Never-the-less, the sites were amazing as they lit up at night. Two things detracted from the tour: 1) the upper deck was ridiculously over crowded and the rows of chairs placed so close together that there was almost no leg room. Despite that, people kept coming and pushed themselves into every chair jamming our knees and feet in the process. 2) the 'lounge singer' music certainly didn't add to the ambience and the speakers were placed so that they couldn't be avoided. The crowd of people on board were loud, and apparently felt a need to use every underpass as an opportunity for howling and hooting during the entire length. Huh?
