Tibet Tour from Singapore
As one of the most advanced countries in the world, Singapore grows at a rapid speed in terms of economy as well as transportation these years. People from Singapore can get to any place of the world with convenient transportation means. For those who want to go to Tibet for travel, they can either go there by flights or trains. Both of the transportation means have their advantages and disadvantages. Taking flights is time-saving, as it only takes a total of 4.5 to 6 hours to fly from Singapore to Tibet . The duration varies over the connecting stations as well as terminal stations. However, people who go to Tibet by flights are more likely to get altitude sickness , as there will be huge altitude changes while taking the flights. Taking trains from mainland China to Tibet is popular among visitors , as they can enjoy the most incredible sightseeing in the world when the train runs through the highest plateau in the world—the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. However, before taking the trains, people have to take flights from Singapore to mainland China at first, as there are no trains between the two countries. The train journey is time-wasting, because it can take at least 40 hours to get to Tibet from mainland China by trains. But compared with the scenery along the way, tourists will find every minute on the train worthwhile.
How to Travel to Tibet from Singapore
Tourists from Singapore usually travel to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet via Chengdu, Shanghai, Beijing or Kathmandu.
Travel to Singapore to Lhasa via Chengdu
Chengdu City in China is the most popular gateway city to Tibet because of its geographic location and rich tourist resources. So people from Singapore can take flights to Chengdu at first, and then transfer trains to Tibet . Several flights from Singapore to Chengdu are available every day. The flights get off from Singapore Changi Airport and land at Sichuang Shuangliu International Airport, with the ticket price of around USD 850. A hard sleeper ticket for trains from Chengdu to Tibet is 668 RMB, and a soft sleeper, 1,062 RMB. For people who want to save money on transportation, taking flights from Singapore to Hong Kong and then transfer trains or flights to Tibet would be a more economic choice. A flight ticket from Singapore to Hong Kong can be as low as USD 500, which is much less than the Singapore—Chengdu ticket.
If budget permitted, tourists are suggested to buy a soft sleeper ticket rather than a hard sleeper one. The reason is that the train from Chengdu to Tibet covers a length of 3,360 kilometers , a duration of about 44 hours, which can consume visitors a lot of energy. And a soft sleeper cabin is more comfortable and secure than a hard sleeper cabin, as the former has lockable door and only accommodates 4 people, while the latter has no lockable door and accommodates 6 people. With the increasing awareness of security and the equipped police officers, crime rate on the trains has dropped down greatly in recent years in China. Yet tourists had better keep their valuable items with themselves but not to put them in the bags or the cabin.
Travel to Singapore to Lhasa via Beijing or Shanghai
Beijing and Shanghai are two popular gateway cities to Tibet for foreign visitors, as the former is the capital of China and the latter is the most thriving city in China. For people from Singapore, they are suggested to take direct flights to Beijing or Shanghai from airports in Singapore, both of which will take only 6 hours, with the cost of about USD 1,500. After that, they can take trains to Tibet from either Shanghai or Beijing. Qinghai-Tibet Railway , the world’s highest railroad, is also a part of the Shanghai-Lhasa Railway and Beijing-Lhasa Railway. A hard sleeper ticket for trains from Beijing to Lhasa is 720 RMB, and a soft sleeper, 1,144 RMB. And a hard sleeper ticket for trains from Shanghai to Tibet is 794 RMB, a soft sleeper, 1,263 RMB. The train duration between Beijing and Lhasa is about 41 hours, 7 hours less than the duration between Shanghai and Lhasa.
Visitors taking trains from Beijing or Shanghai to Lhasa can have the chance to experience the huge scenery differences between eastern China and southwestern China. All the scenery is amazing but you will only marvel at the miracle sightseeing when the train runs through the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Although the journey takes a lot of time, you won’t be regretful for having taken the train because of the spectacular sightseeing along the way.
Travel to Singapore to Lhasa via Kathmandu
People from Singapore can also choose to take flights to Nepal at first and then get into Tibet via flight, as Kathmandu is the only foreign city where direct flights to Lhasa are available. An airline ticket from Singapore to Kathmandu is about USD 1,100, with a flying duration of around 5 hours. With short distance (about 600 kilometers) and fly duration (about 90 minutes), a lot of travelers choose to get to Lhasa from Kathmandu by flights. The Kathmandu Lhasa air route is considered to be one of the most beautiful air routes in the world, as visitors can get a bird’s-eye view of the summit of Mt. Everest when the plane flies over the Himalayas. Flights between Kathmandu and Tibet are available every day and the price for an airline ticket from Kathmandu to Tibet is usually around USD 280. For a better view of the summit of Mt. Everest, tourists are suggested to choose seats on the left side of the plane.
Where Are the Best Tibetan Places to Go for Singaporean Travelers?
There are thousands of oversea Chinese in Singapore. Most of them will travel to China to visit their relatives or friends. Quite a few of them have been to China for many times and are interested in exploring more than China. Tibet is their first option besides China mainland. The Potala Palace history tour in Lhasa, natural beauty tour to Lake Namtso or Yamdrok and sacred Mount Kailash tour are the top 3 things to do on their to-do list for Tibet.
Five Best Months for Mount Kailash Tour from Singapore
The Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are very popular tourist attractions in Tibet. For most tourists from Singapore, April, May, June, September and October are the best five months for attending a Kailash Manasarovar tour. During this time, you could enjoy the continuous good weather and comfortable climates, and admire the most beautiful sceneries. Beside Mount Kailash, these five months are also the best time to see sunrise in the Mount Everest Base Camp.
If Singaporean tourists don’t have time to visit the Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar during these five months, July and August can be their second options. Although these two months are rainy season, the temperature is good for taking a tour and the sceneries are beautiful.

11D10N Tibet Overland Tour (Lhasa – Kathmandu)
Embark on the classic 1,000 km long journey along the Friendship Highway that connects the fabled city of Lhasa, Tibet to the bustling city of Kathmandu, Nepal. The route covers some of the most historic cities in Tibet, taking in important palaces, monasteries and natural vistas such as lakes, glaciers and mountains.
Visit the famous Potala Palace where the legendary Dalai Lama used to live. At Jokhang Temple – the most sacred temple in Tibet, you will be impressed by the devotion of the Tibetans as you observe them performing their full body prostration and kora (circumabulation) rituals around the temple compound. Catch the sunrise over the vast, 4700m high, turquoise Namtso Lake with the magnificent Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range as its backdrop.
Rumble down the mountain roads through several high mountain passes to the Everest Base Camp for a close up view of Mount Everest. Stay overnight with a nomadic Tibetan family and savour a bowl of Thukpa (Tibetan Noodle Soup) and butter tea in the warmth of their yak fleece tent. The journey also brings you across the 5150m Thong La Pass with enchanting views of Shisapangma (8012m), Makalu (8463m), Lhotse (8516m) and Cho Oyu (8210m). As you journey towards Kathmandu, a whole new adventure and experience begins.
Day 01
CHENGDU – LHASA
In the morning, you will board a domestic flight from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Lhasa Gonggar Airport (1 hr 50 min flight). Get your cameras ready as you will be flying above the beautiful Himalayas mountain range among the clouds. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by our friendly Tibetan guide who will bring you to the hotel (1 hr drive away). As you will need to adjust to the high altitude, the rest of the day is left for you to rest or to explore Bakhor Street which is within walking distance.
Overnight: Hotel
Day 02
The next two days will be spent exploring the sights in Lhasa City and understanding the culture of the local Tibetans. Visit the famous Potala Palace , where the legendary Dalai Lamas used to live, and revisit scenes where the movie “Seven Years in Tibet” took its inspiration from. Take a short stroll to Jokhang Temple nearby and appreciate the religious devotion of the local Tibetans by seeing how they perform their koras. Spend your afternoon watching the monks debating about Buddhist philosophies animatedly in the courtyard of the Sera Monastery. Food choices are plenty in Lhasa, ranging from local Tibetan, Indian, Western and Chinese. Do not miss out on visiting a local Tibetan teahouse and try a sip of their local tea as well.
Day 03
Make a trip to Drepung Monastery that is situated in the west, be awed by its magnificence as it is the largest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. Deepen your understanding of the history of Tibet by exploring the Tibet museum. In the late afternoon, take a stroll in the Norbulingka Palace (aka Summer Palace) where the 14 th Dalai Lama last stayed before fleeing to India and enjoy the greenery.
Day 04
LHASA – NAMTSO LAKE (Distance and time: ~250km, 5 hrs)
Namtso Lake (“Heavenly Lake” in Tibetan) is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Situated at 4718m above sea level with an area of 1920 km 2 , it is the biggest lake in Tibet and one of the highest lakes in the world. The snow-capped Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range, with peaks more than 7000m, forms a picturesque backdrop behind Namtso Lake. Interestingly, these were the actual mountains that Heinrich Harrer (from the Seven Years in Tibet) scaled. Make your way up to the small hill beside the lake for a bird eye’s view of the lake and the Tanglha range. Get your cameras ready as you witness the dramatic sunset cast over the calm of the lake.
Day 05
NAMTSO LAKE – LHASA (Distance and time: ~250km, 5 hrs)
Early risers can choose to wake up early to catch the equally dramatic sun rising over the lake. You will make your back to Lhasa after a leisure breakfast. On the way back, there is an opportunity to visit the Yangbaijing hot springs , which have been harnessed to produce electricity for Lhasa.
Day 06
LHASA – YAMDROK TSO – GYANSTE – SHIGATSE (Distance and time: ~320km, 5hrs)
You will travel along the famous Friendship Highway from Lhasa to Shigatse – a scenic route with plenty of viewpoints among the Himalayas mountain ranges. The dazzling Yamdrok-Tso ( another one of the three holy lakes of Tibet) from the 4700m Kamba-La Pass in a fabulous shade of turquoise is so breathtaking that it looks almost surreal. Far in the distance is the glaciated peak of Nojin Kangtsang rising to 7191m. In Gyantse, you will visit the Pelkor Chode Monastery and the Gyantse Kumbum (multi-storied aggregate of Buddhist chapels) – the largest chorten in Tibet and one of its architectural wonders.
Day 07
SHIGATSE – LHATSE – SHEGAR (Distance and time: ~485km, 8 hrs)
In the morning, visit Tashilunpo Monastery – one of the six great monasteries of the Gelugpa sect and the traditional seat of Panchen Lama. This is followed by a drive to Shegar, also known as New Tingri over Tso-La pass (4500m) and Gyatso-La pass (5252m) via Lhatse.
SHEGAR – RONGBUK – EVEREST BASE CAMP (Distance and time: ~100km, 4 hrs)
Today, we will get up close and personal with the Grand Dame – Mount Everest. To travel to Everest Base camp, you will be driven from Shegar to Rongbuk on unpaved roads, climbing up to Pang-La Pass (5050m) with sweeping views of the Himalayas range – including Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Cho Oyu. The drive then descends down to valleys lined with photogenic villages. Visit Rongbuk Monastery, probably the highest religious building in the world. You can then take a shuttle bus or trek approximately 3 km from the “Tent Hotels” area to the Everest Base Camp. The Base Camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest are beyond breathtaking. Catch the sunset over Mount Everest and witness how the mountains get illuminated by the sun rays.
Overnight: Guesthouse or “tent hotel”
Day 09
RONGBUK – OLD TINGRI – NYALAM –GYIRONG (Distance and time: ~240km, 10 hrs)
Begin your day by watching the sun rise over the Everest Grand Dame. You will then be driven to Gyirong via Old Tingri and Nyalam, crossing the Thong-La pass (5150m) – the last high pass before descending to the sub-continent – with enchanting views of Mt. Shishapangma – the only eight thousander entirely within the Chinese territory. From the pass, the route will descend down to Gyirong, the border town of Tibet. The landscape changes drastically in the last 30km from Nyalam to Gyirong, leaving behind the rocky and arid Tibetan Plateau to enter into a humid, dense and evergreen forest with deep river gorges and waterfalls.
Day 10
GYIRONG– KODARI – KATHMANDU (Distance and time: ~120km, 5 hrs)
After a leisure breakfast, you will bid goodbye to your Tibetan guide to clear the Chinese Customs and walk across the Sino-Nepal Friendship Bridge – a no man’s land – to the Nepali border town of Kodari. Our friendly Nepali local guide will greet you at the Nepali end of Friendship Bridge and will assist you with the VISA application and Custom clearance. For the adventurous, there is an option to experience extreme sports like Bungee jump or Canyon swing, available at The Last Resort situated at about 12km past Kodari. TESTIMONIALS
The trip to tibet n nepal opened my eyes to the locals’ way of living, as well as both countries’ rich culture n beautiful natural scenery. There were numerous exhilarating experiences for me during the trip – including seeing the elusive mt everest peak after waiting for hrs on end for the clouds to disperse, and waking up at 3am to partake in the traditional tibetan “yogurt” festival w the locals. We also had the chance to paraglide in nepal, an awesome way to enjoy the surrounding mountainous view; it was something that I had not intended to do before the trip but was glad i did! The tibet itinerary was rather flexible as we were allowed to choose the places we wanted to visit during the trip, based on our personal preferences. Looking back, it was gd that we were able to drive from tibet directly into nepal via the friendship bridge as it was interesting seeing the immediate contrast between the 2 countries’ architecture, infrastructure n pple despite their proximity. Thank you iwannatravel for this eye-opening trip!
– Shing (Group of 4 on a 13D12N trip to Tibet and Nepal in Aug 2014)
See latest reviews on our Google page ! We had a fabulous time at Mt. Panti, thanks to 'I Wanna Travel'. The organisation was smooth from the beginning. My support, HS, was attentive to details and always available at my beck and call. The guide was friendly and encouraging. The last stretch of the climb before reaching the summit was thrilling. We absolutely loved it! We were treated to a large spread of delicious vegetarian Chinese food at the end of the trip. The highlight of the trip was the Firefly Cruise. What a mesmerising experience! Thank you for a great trip. We'll be coming back for more. – Arathi (Group of 5 on a Mt Panti trip in Nov 2018) IWT handled the pre-trip administration very well and the itinerary was swiftly and properly communicated to us. The itinerary was clear and useful as it gave us a rough gauge of what to expect and what to prepare for the trip. Our tour guide Mr Dimas, along with our driver, possess welcoming and friendly personalities and they always ensured that our welfare is well taken care of. During the trip, they were always providing us with insights into Surabaya to tell us more about their country and even provided excellent recommendations for activities and their local cuisine. All in all, a very good and trip and would certainly recommend. – Zhen Siang (Group of 2 on an 4D3N Ijen, Bromo & Surabaya trip in Dec 2018) Organisation of the trip was good as communication with iwannatravel was smooth and fast, and the itinerary planning was well suited for my group needs and wants. The driver, Mr Thina, was very accommodating towards our schedule and took care of our needs, example needing to buy rubber shoes, where he drove us to the shop. Our guides were well experienced and could pace and entertain us well with their knowledge and fun-loving nature. Mount Panti had more leeches than what we imagined though and the difficulty level of the treks was as what iwannatravel said, not to be estimated as it had moderate difficulty. Overall we had a good experience with our activities and accommodations! And would definitely recommend this trip for the more adventurous people. – John (Group of 9 on a 2D1N Mt Panti & Pelepah Falls trip in Dec 2018) The guide, Mr Azhar was very experienced. He was able to pace us accordingly and guide us throughout our entire trek to the peak and the Big Tree. The trek was not easy, considering it started to rain halfway thru the journey, making the route slippery but Mr Azhar was willing to guide us and pace us accordingly throughout so that we wont overexert ourselves. – Salmiah (Group of 4 on a Mt Lambak day trip in Nov 2018) Personalised pickup and attention to our well being. Focused to help us to have good experiences. Guide Udin is very professional. Dependable, attention to details, providing good advices. Porters are friendly and helpful. We are very happy with the service level, professionalism of the whole team to bringing good experiences to hikers like us. – YT (Group of 3 on a 2D1N Mt Merbabu Camping trip in Nov 2018) Honorable mention to the guide, whom was the driver too. Her energy and dedication throughout the trek makes the trip very worthwhile, even though the view at the summit was spoiled by the poor foggy weather. Our team would gladly scale another mountain in taiwan with her as the guide again, if we had the chance. – Jonathan (Group of 5 on a 2D2N Yushan trip in Mar 2018) Thoroughly enjoyed the Poon Hill trek! Beautiful scenery and Puskar was a patient and responsible guide. He made our trip possible and hassle-free. We also found the hotel in Pokhara in an extremely good location with many restaurants in the vicinity. – Peiying & Photon (Group of 2 on a 12D11N Kathmandu, Pokhara & Poon Hill trip in Nov 2017) The whole organisation was prepared smoothly prior to the trip. The ample of times attending to the enquiries and the notes given had definitely been useful. For transport, guide (and driver), food, activities, accommodation - they were pleasant. The van provided was spacious especially the legroom, and even had enough room to store our bag packs. The guide and driver were very accommodative, for an instance, stopping the van to allow us take some photos before proceeding to the trail head. Additionally, both tried their best to attempt to make conversations in English. As per food and activities, it was great. The food complimented the next activity well, an example, we were provided rice instead of noodles on the day before our summit push and back to the trail head. It was essential since we had to have plenty carbohydrates for the long trek ahead. – SR (Group of 5 on a 2D2N Xueshan trip in Oct 2017) First, we would like to thank hs for coming up with the itinerary of the places that we wanted to visit and always being prompt and patient in answering our queries. This trip turned out to be one of the best trips ever! Our guide, Bayu, was simply wonderful. He speaks good English and we enjoyed our conversations with him. During the hike, he frequently stopped to ask if we were okay and if we needed a rest. He would also ask if we had any other places in mind that we would like to visit around the vicinity. In all, we felt very well-taken of throughout the entire trip. Our fondest memory was the day when we had cup noodles around a campfire together with him during the early hours of dawn at King Kong Hill. It was truly unforgettable. Bayu also offered to help us take photos during the trip and we were really thankful for that. Our driver, Bayu (same name as our guide) had superb driving skills. We were really amazed at how he was able to navigate and drive through narrow and winding roads under foggy weather conditions. Throughout the trip, both of them made us feel very safe and comfortable. We did not have to worry about anything. It was really such an enjoyable trip. A big thank you to our guide, Bayu, and our driver, Bayu! 🙂 – Eunice (Group of 2 on an 5D4N Ijen, Mt Bromo, Batu in June 2017) We always have a wish that to have a wonderful trip with a lot of fun and laugh, and so we stop dreaming and start planning. No doubt IWT is our best choice with no regretted. First of all, we wanna thank you to our tour guide Ms Vinda, a young lady with always have a cute smiling. She is very friendly, knowledgeable, understanding and patience lady. She care a lot of us, and make sure we are not injure while hiking, but manage to reach to the top. Due to some of my friends is lack of exercise and felt exhausted, especially Ijen and Mt Bromo, she keep accompanied us and make sure 4 of us are in good condition to continue. She keep reminding us some sleepy area, and hold our hand if needed to ensure we are not fell down. She also giving us a lot of info about some interest places were going and we'll communication. She always standby to be our photographer, even some time our pose is funny. She willing to share her photos and videos with us. Thanks ya. And most importantly that she notice 1 of my friend didn't wear a suitable shoe to waterfall, she immediately take off her shoe and let my friend to wear, and help to carry my friend shoe and walk with no shoe herself...so embarrassing. She treat us ginger tea while we feel cold, Indomee after hiking and dragon fruit along the way to Surabaya. Bring us to minimart to buy our secret stuff. Lastly, we should say that~Ms Vinda, thank you so much. We are enjoyable the trip and this is really amazing. We highly recommend her as a tour guide and wish her all the best. Thumb up 👍 – May (Group of 4 on a 4D3N Ijen Crater, Mount Bromo & Batu in May 2017) Guide Syami was amazing! Very patient and extremely helpful towards my parents (55 and 50 year old folks) . His guidance really helped my parents with their hike. Shared his knowledge on the mountain and the wildlife there. Perfect. – Farhana (Group of 6 on an 2D1N Mt Ophir Camping Trip in Apr 2017) Very nice group, glad I made some good friends. Thanks to the organisers who took us for dinner near a vegetarian friendly place. – Rajan (Group of 12 on an Open Mt Ophir Trip in Mar 2017) Coordination with IWT was a breeze. Ying was quick in responding to queries and very helpful, giving tips according to her own experience climbing Pelapah Falls. Prasanth, the driver, was on-time, friendly and skillful. Despite the hours of driving and waiting for us, he always wore a smile on his face. Nan, our guide, was very experienced. He was like a fatherly figure who knew exactly what he was doing and that brought a lot of assurance to us. Pelapah Falls has its challenges but it was such a good experience for my friends and I. We had to tread through cooling rivers, climb using ropes, avoid giant ants and manage a few leeches but the amazing and therapeutic waterfalls made it all worth it. All of us were counted as beginner hikers and we all made it. So don't worry. Just do it! – Xiuqing (Group of 5 on a Pelepah Falls & Kota Tinggi Trip in Feb 2017) Everything was great! From planning til the end of the trip, everything was organised. The activities were fun and itinerary was well planned. We did not feel that we were rushed at all and we get to enjoy Borobudur and Mount Bromo in our own pace. Our guide, Bayu, was very friendly and helped us a lot especially when it comes to ordering food :). This is the most relaxing, hassle-free trip I've ever had! Thanks Iwannatravel 🙂 – Sunshine (Group of 7 on a 4D3N trip to Bromo & Borobudur in Aug 2016) I really enjoy the whole travel experience. The driver is always contactable and prompt, and transport it’s quite comfortable. The mountain guide is friendly, and is knowledgeable and ensures that the last person is not left behind, and there are 2 guides provided to us for a group of 10 which I think is quite good. The accommodation at Melaka is quite clean and it’s within the tourist attraction; Jonker Street and there’s also some free and easy time to explore with driver provided. – Xian Ying (Group of 10 on a 2D1N trip to Mt Ophir in May 2016) I liked how fast HS was able to plan the itinerary for our group, making it flexible to suit our preferences and how he was very prompt to answer our questions and give suggestions on things that we can do. We only ask assistance for bookings on our Vietnam trip (Mt. Fansipan trek, Lao Cai- Hanoi train tickets and Halong Bay Day Cruise). However, upon knowing that we are also traveling to Laos, HS has gone an extra mile and help us map out our Laos itinerary too. Transport provided both for Fansipan trek and Halong Bay Day Cruise were awesome as they picked us up from our hostel right on time. Our Fansipan guide was very helpful and patient and ensured everyone's safety during the trek. While our Halong Bay Cruise guide was quite informative and very entertaining as she makes us laugh without even trying. Our group was very much satisfied with the food served to us both during the Fansipan trek and Halong Bay cruise. And of course, we definitely enjoyed all the activities we did: trekking up to the summit of Fansipan, riding a sleeper train from Lao Cai to Hanoi and kayaking in Halong Bay. Organization of our trip is superb knowing that we were IWT's first customers to book for their Fansipan trek and Halong Bay Cruise trip. *^_^* – Michelle (Group of 3 on a 4D3N trip to Mt Fansipan & Halong Bay in Apr 2016) Read more at testimonials !

I travelled to Tibet by myself in September 2019 but managed to arrange to be part of a larger trekking group for a few days which was lovely in terms of company but also brought down the cost of my trip. Due to initial altitude sickness and a few other hiccups along the way I missed a few sightseeing trips at the beginning of my tour but this was in part made up towards the end of my trip when I was feeling fine. I will always be grateful to ‘Wonders of Tibet’ for making me feel safe and welcome in Tibet and for doing so much more than ‘just being a tour guide’.
The best guide, we have ever met – thank you Gyaltsen very much!!!
August 2018 – It was wonderful trip to Tibet. Our friendly guide, Gyaltsen, has told us a lot about religion and culture of this amazing country! He has also made our journey very comfortable, since everything was very well planned. He told us about Tibetan traditional medicine preventing altitude sickness – we could sleep well at night after we took it everyday in the evening. We were very lucky that we could see Mt. Everest (not covered by clouds) and spend night at Mt. Everest Base Camp.
We recommend strongly – if you want to visit Tibet, contact Gyaltsen!
Exceptional guide: Gyaltsen
I had the chance to take a 2 weeks trip around western Tibet (Lhasa – Shigatse – Mt Kailash – Manasarovar- EBC) with Gyaltsen as a guide.
I have no word to express how grateful I was to have him as a guide.
He not only is the most experimented and reliable guide but he also has the kindest attention for his guests.
Thank you a million time Gyaltsen, You are a living Bodhisattva.
Perfectly organized trekking tour
I did a trekking tour with Kalsang in August, we went from Ganden to Samye. It is a very beautiful trek and we enjoyed the scenery around us every day. The trek was a little difficult, but Kalsang was encouraging me and helping when it was necessary. I am happy I did it. Great memories about Tibet!
Private 16-Day Trip in Tibet
I had a fulfilling & satisfying 16-day trip in Tibet with my ever so attentive tour guide & driver. My fears and uncertainties were allayed as I began my travels with them. It had been such an enjoyable pilgrimage that I looked forward to travel with them soon; real soon. Terry Singapore
Great experience
My guide was wonderful, he arranged everything and I only had to buy tickets to get to Tibet. I am vegetarian and every time we went to restaurant or tea house, he made an extra effort to arrange a vegetarian meal for me. I had an amazing time in Tibet!
Tibet travel with the best tour guide Gyaltsen!
Our group of 4 had Gyaltsen’s superb guidance for 5 days, traveling thru Lhasa and a few other places in the vicinity in the summer of 2015. Gyaltsen is knowledgeable, resourceful, friendly, honest and I wholeheartedly recommend Gyaltsen’s service to anyone looking for a safe traveling to Tibet. I, in fact did recommend his service to my friend at work who traveled thru Tibet along with his wife the following year. They both agreed with me and had nothing but the best things to say about Gyaltsen who took them on a trekking tour from Lhasa to Mt Everest!
Thank you, Gyaltsen!
Trip of a lifetime in Tibet
Our party of three joined several others from all parts of the world for an 8 day adventure to EBC. Upon meeting Gaps at the airport, he ensured we were all taken care of and settled in before our tour started the next day. Gaps was always very friendly and accommodating for our group. He has such a great spirit that was contagious. It was my husband’s birthday on the trip and they provided him with a cake and candles. We felt that they went above and beyond on our entire trip. This trip was very enlightening for me and I can’t wait until we can go on another trip to Tibet. I am sure we will book with Gaps. He made the trip so much more with his candor and kindness. I learned so much about the region, culture, and Buddhist culture while we were there. Don’t hesitate to book this trip with Gaps, you won’t regret it!
Great travel
Hello everyone ! I’m was in Tibet in 2014, the group was led by Gyaltsen. It was thanks to him that the trip turned out to be well planned, comfortable and very informative. Gyaltsen is a very competent guide, who loves his work and is able to show and explain everything, while creating a maximum of comfort for tourists. If once again I’m going to go to Tibet, my guide’s choice will be only one – my great friend Gyaltsen , whom I boldly recommend to other travelers, you will have all the best! Gyaltsen is able to show the most interesting places in Tibet, flexibly considering the demands of tourists and the possibility of staying, while at the same time providing the greatest possible comfort for traveling and staying in hotels and guest houses. So, dear Gyaltsen , thanks for the trip and success and prosperity to your tourism business!
Best travel ever.
I travelled a lot and they are one of the best travel agent I have come across. They try their very best to countermeasure any unforeseen event. Make changes to make sure all their customers enjoy their trip and not being interrupt by anything.
Way to go and keep up the good job!
The best way to discover Tibet
I travelled to Tibet in 2013 together with two friends. We were lucky enough to have the best tour guide ever, Gyaltsen, who showed us (a small part of) his homeland and answered all our questions. He’s extremely nice and helpful and speaks a perfect English. We had a private tour, which we planned in advance. Only bad thing is that it was too short, so I’m definitly going to go back and see more, and of course I will contact him again.
A perfect trip
Our trip to Tibet in April 2015 exceeded our expectations on every level, the whole experience was nothing short of magical. In April 2015 we joined a 7 day tour in Tibet. Far and away, the highlight of our trip was our local guide, Gyaltsen. So fantastic that we felt like he became part of our family. Useless to say he contributed to make our trip perfect. First, his knowledge is nothing short of awesome, starting from his fluent English. He made the history, geography and culture of Tibet come alive for all of us. His patience with our varying multi-cultural group and our different timings to adapt to high altitude was also amazing. On very top of that we were in Tibet during and unexpected and exceptional situation: the earthquake. Again they all, expecially Gyaltsen, not only understood our needs but had to the keen ability and knowledge to know how to handle the situation. After this experience, we will be recommending a trip to Tibet to everyone we know with an interest in travel, and will suggest they use this company to plan their trip. Can’t say enough good things about it!
excellence experience and a trip in a life time
I and my family had a 7 day trip to Tibet in 2015. Gap was our tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, and very friendly. He has arranged very well our whole trip, from where to stay, what food to try, the beautiful views and rich culture! We especially value his deep knowledge and his great introduction of the history and the culture. He speaks great English which my daughter likes the most. So she can ask all kinds of questions. It is a trip once in a life time! We appreciate Gap very much for his excellent guide, and highly recommend Gap if you are planning a trip to Tibet.
Simply otherworldly
Few places in the world have ever made such a lasting impression on us as Tibet did. The magnificent views, otherworldly and everchanging landscapes and the deep spiritual devotion of the tibetan population are, among other things, what made this 8day trip from the former forbidden city of Lhasa to the recently re-opened Nepali border the trip of a lifetime! But none of it would have been the same without our guide Gyal-tsen. To be able to catch a glimpse into and understanding of the mysterious and somewhat mystical culture and day-to-day life of its inhabitants was something we could only dream of until we met him. Highly knowledgeable, insight- and resourceful, friendly, funny and kind, and despite all of its stunning natural beauty, Gyal-tsen turned out to be what we miss most about Tibet. And when in doubt at lunch or dinner, just order what he’s having! Tu jay chay!

An experience for life in Tibet thanks to guide Gyaltsen
It is my pleasure to write this review about our trip with guide Gyaltsen in Tibet. It was our second trip to this fascinating country and culture. We – my wife, daughter and me – were interested in the history, culture and religion of Tibet and in its amazing landscape and nature. During 10 days we experienced numerous impressions, which widened our horizon and view on life. Landscapes of breath-taking beauty, monasteries full of history and culture, and kind and hospitable Tibetan people will stay in our mind for the rest of our life. From Lhasa we traveled to Gyantse and further Shigatse, finally reaching Everest base camp, passing through ancient towns and villages, monasteries, valleys and mountains of the Himalaya. Gyaltsen is a highly educated young man with a deep knowledge of the history and cultural background of his home country. He is very kind, always helpful, respects the wishes of his tour guests and speaks perfectly English. He flexibly adapted the tour to our wishes and did his best fulfil our expectations in this visit to Tibet – getting a deep insight into culture, religion, history and Tibetan everyday life, and experience the landscape of the Himalaya mountains. Dr. Werner Nader and family, Hamburg, Germany
Awesome adventure in Tibet
I went to Tibet with my ex girlfriend in the summer and Gaps was amazing. What started off as a trek to base camp ended in a complete emersion into Tibet. From experiencing the cuisine and host family stays to sightseeing and the insightful discussions with Gaps, the trip to base camp was amazing don’t get me wrong but the insight and expertise from Gaps made this trip exceptional. Highly recommended. My ex is now my wife by the way.
A must visit
It was with great experienced having the private tour with Mr.Gaps. Realizing the much differences between Tibetan and others. So much mysteries to know about. We were having a birthday party too! It is a peaceful and tranquil place everyone dreams of. Away from the hustle and bustle of cities, people go round chasing something unrealistic. Mr.Gaps is very kind to provide me a local traditional medicine for my headache ? I would love to go back with more adventure activities…. definately will look for Mr.Gaps!
I went to Tibet with my friend in spring of 2016. We joined a group of 10+ people from all over the world for the 8-day EBC trip and had Gaps as our tour guide. The whole process prior to the trip was very smooth and they provided us with tips on planning on our end while they took care of the documentation part. We had a great time immersing in the Tibetan culture and Buddhism religion during the trip. Gaps was very knowledgeable in the local culture and Buddhism and explained everything we were curious about. The team was very professional and patient. It was the best tour experience I have had and unforgettable moment when we saw the tip of Mt Everest. Definitely would recommend it to others!
Fantastic trip – best of my life!
We did the 8 day Lhasa – Mount everest tour with a small group and I absolutely loved every moment from this trip. Gaps was a great and fun guide and very aknowledged about Tibetan Buddhism and culture. I highly recommend him as your guide so you can get the full Tibet experience. It was without hesitation the best tour I ever had, and an experience I will always remember.
Tibet travel
Gyaltsen is very experienced guide and his knowledge about Tibetan Buddhism, culture and places is amazing. I did a 8 days EBC trip and everything was great. He was always able to provide assistance and information for all our needs including helping me to find some of the local homemade barley beer and Tibetan medicines that helped me to recover from an old knee injury. As for the travel itself everything was done in professional manner beggining with the airport pickup, acclimatizing, monastery tours and EBC- one of the best times in my life. Traveling to Tibet is definitely a great choice and I highly recommend Gyaltsen as your guide so you can get the full authentic experience of local culture, stunning views and holy mountains and the greatest treasure of them all – the kindness and the warmth of the Tibetan people.
Trip of a lifetime
Glorious tibet.
I would like to highly recommend Gyaltsen as your tour guide he drew us into a new and different world full of Tibetan culture and wonder. We found him very knowledgeable and informative with a great sense of adventure and humour. Nothing was ever too much trouble I would highly recommend him truly the trip of a lifetime. We felt complete safe and confident in his care. Enjoy❤️
Rongbuk Temple Meditation Liberation
Gaps is very humble and helpful, thoughtful and insightful, and able to flavour a tour in quite a unique manner, catering even to spiritual desire. It was Gaps that introduced me to Lama Acu Sangye at the foot of Mount Everest. And I have him to thank for such an enlightening experience.
The meeting of Lama Acu, in the darkness of the southernmost Rongbuk Temple meditation cave at the foot of Everest 16,900 feet above sea level was both the geographical and spiritual apex of my Himalayan pilgrimage through China, India, Ladakh, Nepal and Tibet – but it was nothing that he said and nothing that he did.
Lama Acu lead me to the inner chamber of the cave complex and we sat and meditated.
While the world without was wrestling with real and imagined acts of terror and occupation, I was wrestling with a very personal subjugation, heightened by a re-reading of the 14th century Nyingma text revealed by Karma Lingpa known as the Bardo Thodol or the Tibetan Book of the Dead or Liberation through Hearing During the Intermediate State.
After meditating with Acu for some time in the relative warmth of the temple cave, I decided to go on my way. Climbing up the stone steps, back out to the surface I was struck by a truly profound realisation.
I was stood at the very foot of the tallest peak in the world – and yet somehow I had forgotten this completely while inside the cave. It occurred to me then all of a sudden that if I was able to ignore such a physical colossus, it must be possible to ignore anything that I encounter – physically or mentally. And that, quite simply, was the realisation, that was the liberation.
Excellent information and services
I went to Lhasa with my twin brother and grand parents for 4 days. My grand mother was worried about the trip because she doesn’t travel much, but it turned out to be so easy to coordinate everything with our tour guide. Tickets, travel permits and practical information was sorted out in no time. We chose to travel by train from Beijing and it was an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival we were picked up by our charismatic tour guide who was extremely well-informed and could answer all our questions about Tibet, religion and the local lifestyle in the city. It was without doubt one of the best trips I ever had, and an experience I will remember the rest of my life. Many thanks to our brilliant tour guide for making this trip possible and for providing excellent information and services on our trip.

I consider myself the luckiest to have found let’s go to Tibet on TripAdvisor. They sent Sonam to be my tour guide in Lhasa for a day and it was all worth it! First, he is a local Tibetan himself, and the culture and tradition of Tibet. this close to home for him.

He was able to explain to me not only the history of the Potala Palace but also the role Buddhism plays in their lives as Tibetans. He also took me to the most famous bazaar in Lhasa and helped me buy a SIM card.

Tibet: Beijing to Kathmandu Overland
This trip takes you from the hustle and bustle of Beijing to the serene beauty of the Tibetan Plateau! So much variety, the train ride was a highlight, getting to talk to locals and share stories and snacks was a truly incredible experience. Breathing the fresh mountain air and taking in the scenery, I will never forget it. Our Tibetan leader was the best part of our trip, wildly knowledgeable and funny to boot. I would do this trip again in an heartbeat.

Forbidden Lhasa and Everest Base Camp - 9 Days
everything about this tour was more than we could have hoped for. From the moment we were met at Kathmandu airport by Mr. Rana we were completely taken care of. Our permit for Tibet was ready the three days later needed by the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu. We were transferred for our flight to Lhasa and met at hotel in KTM upon our overland return from Tibet. The tour of TIbet with driver and guide followed faithfully our itinerary, the highlight of course being an unobstructed sunrise of the north face of Everest. Our guide was very solicitous of us all the way, always being sure the altitude was OK for us. Both he and the driver were always on time, we travelled many kms. But not tiring. This was the trip of a lifetime, you indeed feel you are at the top on the world in these beautiful mountain valleys surrounded by unforgettable peaks. Unless you want to include Mount Kailish, this 9 day trip was the perfect amount of time, Staying in Lhasa for three nights helped the acclimatization to the altitude, although Everest Base Camp is a bit of a stretch. But the alternative to staying at a hotel two hours away outweighed the discomfort (we did not take diamox and were OK). Overland to Kathmandu from Tibetan border was an experience, but not to be missed. If I was to decide to do this over again, this would be the itinerary, and Adventure Himalayan Travels out of Kathmandu would be the agent. To start in Lhasa and end in KTM is much the best direction, you need to have a week to acclimatize to 5200 m. At Everest, plus the view is better from the north side. This tour rates 100% for organization, facilitation, and the kindness of the people of Kathmandu and Tibet
08 days Tour from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp and drive to Kathmandu via Kerung
I have toured twice with this company in 2010 and 2016 and most important the guides are always concerned about your well being and health. I was never left alone and this is important when dealing with issues such as high altitude and felt comfortable with the guides. I have recommended this tour company to friends
4 Days Lhasa City Essential Group Tour
I spent four unforgettable days in Lhasa, Tibet. Thank you for all the services you provided me. The hotel we stayed at in downtown Lhasa was quite comfortable and had a Tibetan style. The facilities were complete, and the service was attentive. Additionally, it was conveniently located near the attractions, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lhasa. In Lhasa, I encountered many devout monks and pilgrims. Their faith left a deep impression on me and helped me gain a deeper understanding of the charm of Tibetan Buddhism. My favorite part was relaxing in the teahouses and drinking butter tea, which was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. The weather in Lhasa was also fantastic, and the shade under the trees was very refreshing. I am very satisfied with this trip. Thank you! Terry
