Recent tour reviews

I saw Slothrust at the Black Sheep in Colorado Springs and it was great!! They really put life into every song. I kind of wish they were more interactive with the crowd but that’s not a huge thing for me. Either way, I’m glad I got to see them with Summer Cannibals and Pouthouse. If you have the opportunity, go for it!

What an excellent show. The three of them are so very talented individually, and put together are a force to be reckoned with. Not only do their songs speak to me like few other bands do, but they’re so cool and you can tell they love their fans. Highly recommended, always.

I discovered Slothrust on Spotify 9 days before their show in town. Thanks to Songkick, I was able to see that they were playing in town so soon! It was an obvious YES that I would go because after only 4 days of listening to their music I was OBSESSED! Their bassist is my hero!

Leah (vocals, electric guitarist) created a space for the bassist and drummer to have a dope improv moment! They did a mashup cover of some Sugar Ray, Britney, and Backstreet Boys!

I had a great time and absolutely recommend seeing them if they’re in your city!

Slothrust, I love you guys! Thank you!

Slothrust, the duo composed of principal songwriter, guitar player, and unrepentant aesthete Leah Wellbaum and drummer Will Gorin , recently unveiled their brand new EP entitled I Promise via Dangerbird Records .

A key part of the tracklisting is the band’s standout cover of Ginuwine ’s “ Pony ,” on which they shamelessly wield and respect the track’s raunchy nature and punch it up with a sludgy musicality, praised by outlets such as Billboard , Consequence , and Stereogum , and additionally added to the official Spotify ‘Rock Covers’  playlist.

In addition to their new EP release, Slothrust is about to embark on a tour to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their LP release, Of Course You Do . Today, the duo announces a second leg of the tour, with continued support from Weakened Friends ( tickets on sale Friday, January 19 at 10 AM Local ).

Slothrust discuss their new album, their upcoming European tour and what’s next

slothrust europe tour

LA alternative rock band Slothrust is receiving critical praise for their latest album,  The Pact .  The band, consisting of Leah Wellbaum (vocals/guitar), Kyle Bann (bass) and Will Gorin (drums), formed in Boston, MA in 2010.  The trio met while attending Sarah Lawrence College and formed Slothrust, seeking a heavier sound then the bluesy and jazzy fused rock that they had focused on in school.  The band has released 3 previous full-length albums, 2012’s  Feels Your Pain , 2014’s  Of Course You Do  and 2016’s  Everyone Else,  having grown as musicians and as a band over the years.   The Pact  marks the band’s first time working a producer, Billy Bush, who encouraged them to push each song to it’s full potential.  Having toured as support for Highly Suspect in 2016 and for Manchester Orchestra’s European tour in 2017, the band will be embarking early next year on their first headlining tour of Europe.  With plenty of momentum surrounding their latest album, the band plans to continue touring and writing, excited to see what the future holds for them.  Staff writer Emily May spoke with the band before their show in Louisville, KY on 10/28/18, discussing the new album, Bann’s first bass solo, their upcoming European tour and what’s next for them.  You can stay up-to-date with the band and all upcoming music and tour news, as well as where to stream and purchase their music.  You can check out their video for “Double Down” below!

You just released your latest album last month. What would you say was the main inspiration behind the songs? I know you have grown your sound as a band over the years, so how do you feel that you evolved with this album?

Leah- This is the first record we’ve done where we got to spend a significant amount of time in the studio. In the past we’ve had to move pretty quickly when making records. In this one we got to explore instruments we hadn’t necessarily been able to explore in the past. It’s also the first album we’ve released where we worked with a producer. We worked with a producer named Billy Bush who’s really excellent and he encouraged us to take each song and push it to its full potential and see what we could do with them. It was a much deeper exploration of each individual track.

Leah- “Double Down” was your first foray into co-writing a song. What was that experience like for you? How did you meet John Buscema and come to co-write the song with him? Do you think you will do more co-writing going forward?

Leah- It’s funny. You’re actually the first person to ask me this question!

Leah- Yeah, no one else has asked me anything about it yet. I got paired with John Bushema just in a random writing session. I live in LA and go on writing sessions to write stuff for other people. I’m a flexible and open writer. He and I just met up one day and talked about what it’s like being from the East Coast and we just vibed really well. There are definitely writing sessions I’ve gone on where it’s been like “Ok, let’s get down to the track. Let’s make this happen”. You never really know what’s going to happen with a piece of music like that, that you write in a session. But, yeah, I’ve done tons of co-writes before and that’s the only one I’ve considered bringing to the band. Most of the co-write material I do I have in mind for other purposes.

So you do songwriting for other bands, as well?

Leah – In theory. That one ended up in our folder of demos. I sent it to the guys and they really liked it and we felt like it was something that we could adapt for the band and make work for our sound. It has a much more obvious pop edge then stuff we’ve done in the past. We thought that would be a cool direction to go with the band.

Do you feel like your move from NY to LA influenced your sound or lyrics at all? I’ve had other bands mention how NY has a more aggressive edge and California has a more laid back vibe. Have you found this to be true for you?

Leah- Well, there’s a lot more space in LA, which for me I think equates to feeling like I have more space creatively and sonically to think in that direction. Living there I definitely started to think more outside the box and worry less about what the band had been previously and instead just dug into the music for the sake of music to see what happened.

slothrust europe tour

Leah- You’ve taught music before and taught at a rock camp for girls in the past. How did you get involved with that and are those things you think you’ll do more of at all?

Leah- Um, yeah. I started teaching music when I was about 18 and I really like kids and am really passionate about teaching music in a way that is exciting for whoever the student is. I think that, at least with the way I grew up, a lot of music teachers don’t necessarily have that approach. They kind-of have their own agenda. So I started working at a rock camp for girls and really tried to focus on listening to what these kids were interested in and what kind of music they wanted to learn. I think that, in the end, is what people need to do more of in education, figuring out what is relevant to the person you are trying to work with and catering to the student instead of pushing your own agenda. I believe that to be true in all topics. Right now I am not teaching because I think you need to compartmentalize things a little bit with music when you are doing so much of it at the same time but I’m sure it’s something I’ll go back to. I did it for a very long time. I’ve been not teaching for less time then I was teaching.

Kyle- You taught music, as well right?

Kyle- Yeah, I taught guitar lessons and piano lessons in Brooklyn and Westchester, NY. I started when I was 18 and taught up until about 2 years ago.

Do you think you’ll do more teaching at all?

Kyle- Yeah, certainly. I really enjoy it, it’s just like what Leah was saying, with touring and everything, it’s hard to be in a consistent place long enough to really develop a rapport with a student. I like getting inside someone’s head and figuring out what it is they need to hear that’s going to make them interested. But I love it and feel like it’s a great thing for all musicians to do because it really makes you go back to the basics and really re-study those. If you haven’t done that for 20 years or so , going back and actually reviewing basic sight reading is really, really helpful and challenging. There’s nothing in the world that puts you on the spot like a 4 year old asking “Can you play this?” and you’re like “Oh, yes”, but then you have to do it. It’s a lot harder (laughs)!

Kyle and Will- An entertainment site recently named the two of you the best rhythm section in music! What is your secret? What’s the secret to a good rhythm section?

Will- We lived together for a few years. I’m sure that doesn’t hurt!

Kyle- Definitely! We’ve spent a lot of time together.

Will- I think for us it’s mostly that we’ve played in a bunch of different types of bands together on different instruments. We haven’t always just been a drum and bass duo. Kyle’s played the organ with me on drums and we’ve both played guitar in a band.

Kyle- I think that might be the most helpful, that we’ve both played guitar in a band.

Will- We knew what we wanted out of the rhythm section.

Kyle- Exactly! We got it!

Will- We’re trying to give Leah all of those things that we never got!

Kyle- The song “Planetarium’ featured you’re first ever bass solo on a song. What was that like for you? Do you have any more planned for songs going forward?

Kyle- Not necessarily. We have our moments during the set…we definitely have our drum/bass moments. That’s been happening more recently and has been really fun. That wasn’t really…well, I guess it was a planned thing but it was more that Leah sent the song around and I hear it for the first time and knew immediately…a bass solo just popped into my brain! At practice I was like “Do you mind if I write a bass solo for this?” and Leah and Will were like “Yeah!”.

Will- I read that you like to cook a lot when you are off tour and occasionally are a personal chef for others. Do you have a favorite dish you like to cook?

Will- The personal chef work is more by request. I’ve been trying to figure out how to monetize the situation, like maybe having friends over for dinner and having everyone throw down some money and I cook a big meal.

Have you always loved to cook?

Will- Yeah, I mostly just really love to eat and I’ve found that sometimes it’s difficult to find the food you want that’s the quality you want, so if you make it yourself, you are set for life.

Do you have a favorite kind of food you like to make?

Will- I’m really into BBQ and meat dishes or pasta.

I’ve never tried to make fresh pasta before!

Will- It’s really cheap and really easy and really good!

slothrust europe tour

Your recent tour with Manchester Orchestra was your first time touring Europe. How did that compare for you to touring in the US? Were the crowds and vibe different at all?

Leah- You know, it’s a little hard to say because we were the opening band on that tour so it’s kind-of hard to judge someone else’s crowd. I will say that the fans of Manchester Orchestra definitely are music lovers who pay a lot of attention to music and are really respectful and pleasant with the performer.

I saw that you will be heading out in January on your first headlining tour in Europe! What are you looking forward to the most with headlining a tour in Europe?

Leah- Man, I’m stoked to see what our fans are like over there because it’s kind-of hard to gage when you are out with another artist. I do know that people have been writing to us from there for years and a lot of the Manchester shows are already sold out and sold out very quickly. I’m really excited to meet our people over there and see what the energy is like.

Do you have any places you’d like to go back to while you are there that you discovered before, like a restaurant or record shop?

Kyle- I’m trying to remember the name of this club that we went to in Berlin. It was after our show and it was another club that was down the street from where we played and there was a punk band playing. I’m trying to remember the name of the band! They were a punk band that’s been together for like 40 years or something. They were playing down the street and some friends of ours told the door person “Oh this is the band from up the street. Let them in” and it was a fun time.

You just created the Slothrust Trail Game. How did that idea come about and what’s the reaction been?

Will- The reaction has been good. The idea came about…we had talked about making a Slothrust board game once upon a time, but the logistics behind it and making that happen just seemed a little bit over our heads. We realized this is the 21 st century and we probably know somebody who can do coding and that might be a much easier thing to actually accomplish (laughs)! We put the idea out there and did in fact know somebody who could code and the game exists now.

What’s next for you, aside from your tour in Europe? Are you writing new material?

Leah- I always try to have new material percolating, but we mostly just have more touring coming up and we’ll just take everything as it comes.

Thanks for your time!

Leah- Those were all really good questions! Thank you!

Slothrust Announce Additional Tourdates with stop at Hammerstein Ballroom, Share New Music Video

slothrust europe tour

Alt-rock group Slothrust have announced the first leg of their 2022 headlining tour, adding to their Fall 2021 tourdates with Manchester Orchestra. Fans on the West Coast are in luck, as the first seven dates will span across California, Oregon and Washington. The tour kicks off on March 17th at the Soda Bar in San Diego.

slothrust tour

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Slothrust’s most recent album Parallel Timeline, released earlier this month through Dangerbird Records. Bandleader Leah Wellbaum’s haunting, breathy alto grounds the dreamy record. Wellbaum said she sought to connect with her inner child through the writing process, centering herself in an ethos of freedom and uncensored catharsis. This vision is apparent through her vocal experimentation and the new, expansive production techniques the band uses. Even the records promotional imagery of bright inverted rainbows, reflects “a gateway to exploring the illusory things we see and experience in everyday life.”

Building on the theme of illusion, Slothrust also dropped a surreal new music video for track “Waiting.” Using the iconography of mandalas, Wellbaum moves through an uncertain and hazy world. Some of the imagery is notably childlike: clear balloons and bushels of fruit. Wellbaum grounds herself in the environment by brushing against plants or holding tight to her guitar.

The refrain calls out “Set me free/ I’ve been waiting passively/ I’m not scared/ I’ve never been so prepared.” In other words, Slothrust and Wellbaum are ready to explore their own musical liminal state. After all, Wellbaum characterizes herself as a “strong believer that nothing is quite as it seems, and that a greater reality exists beyond what the human eye can see.”

Fans too eager to wait (or too broke to make it to California) for their headlining tour need not fret. That is to say, Slothrust have many upcoming shows supporting Manchester Orchestra and Foxing. The band will arrive in the New York area on October 21st, playing the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. After that, they’ll move south for Birmingham and Atlanta shows.

Slothrust 2021 Tour Dates w/Manchester Orchestra:

Slothrust Announces Fall North American Headline Tour Featuring Weakened Friends May 17, 2022

slothrust europe tour

Fresh off the success of their recent headline tour, rising alt-rock band Slothrust is thrilled to announce they will be continuing their trip around North America this fall. The one month tour – kicking off on September 29th – will bring the band to a number of cities they missed earlier this year including: Dallas, New Orleans, St. Louis, Toronto, Cambridge , and more.

Prior to the fall dates, Slothrust will return to Europe and The U.K. on the summer leg of the Parallel Timeline Tour. Fans can look forward to hearing songs from the record as the band makes stops in Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, France, and the U.K. and more. Tickets for all upcoming shows are available now at www.slothrust.com .

Parallel Timeline was released last September via Dangerbird Records and features the singles “Cranium” and “Once More For The Ocean.” Parallel Timeline (Origins) , released in March, features demo + new versions of select tracks from Parallel Timeline, as well as commentary from bandleader Leah Wellbaum and drummer Will Gorin . Fans can stream Parallel Timeline (Origins) now at: https://ffm.to/ptorigins

Educated musicians all with backgrounds in classical, jazz and blues, Parallel Timeline sees Slothrust leaning into improvisation — something that in the past has lent itself to the infectious energy of their live shows. Parallel Timeline, mixed and co-produced by industry legend Billy Bush and mastered by Heba Kadry is a masterclass in balancing tenderness with the fierce guitar work Wellbaum has become known for. With a distinct yet unified sound that blends progressive rock, acoustic and pop, Slothrust has never been more confident.

Slothrust Announce New EP I Promise, Share Origins of “Pony” Cover: Exclusive

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

The post Slothrust Announce New EP I Promise, Share Origins of “Pony” Cover: Exclusive appeared first on Consequence .

Origins is a recurring series giving artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Slothrust take us through their cover of Ginuwine’s “Pony.”

Slothrust have announced their latest EP, I Promise , set for release on October 20th. As the first taste of the project, the rock duo has unleashed a reinterpretation of Ginuwine ’s sensual classic “Pony.”

Swapping bombastic R&B for sleek, bass-driven rock, Slothrust’s “Pony” honors the original by treating it with reverence and respect, rather than poking fun. The result is a hard-rocking rendition complete with distorted low-end, syrupy guitar lines, hard-hitting drums, and hypnotic lead vocals.

“When Slothrust covers other people’s songs, our goal is always to offer them through a different lens,” vocalist Leah Wellbaum says of the cover. “We grew up listening to a lot of ’90s R&B, and ‘Pony’ was always one of our favorites. It’s so bold and fully commits to the metaphor while keeping it consensual and kinky. We love this level of commitment and wanted to match it by doing a heavy, guitar-driven interpretation of this song through a queer lens.”

And match the level of commitment they did, especially with the sparkly, suggestive music video that accompanies the release. An artful reconstruction, “Pony” manages to be a loving homage while taking the initial concept in an entirely different direction.

Check out the music video for Slothrust’s “Pony” cover below, followed by Wellbaum’s breakdown of the song’s Origins.

Reinterpretation:

When Slothrust covers other people’s songs, our goal is always to offer them through a different lens. We grew up listening to a lot of ’90s R&B, and “Pony” was always one of our favorites. It’s so bold and fully commits to the metaphor while keeping it consensual and kinky. We love this level of commitment and wanted to match it by doing a heavy, guitar-driven interpretation of this song through a queer lens. We cannot resist the opportunity to recontextualize and insert a guitar solo or elaborate drum fill in an unexpected place.

Improvisation:

Improvising is one of the most important things to us about music. Our extended version of “Pony” really leans into this. It is a 14-minute-long journey where me, Will, and the incomparable Brooks Allison — who graced this track with his low-end magic — really embraced seeing what showed up in the moment and leaned into a maximalist hard rock aesthetic. The guitar is a powerful instrument with such a unique design and there are so many ways to express yourself through it. We let the music play itself and it’s so satisfying to see what happens when all players are fully present and unattached, but still deeply connected to a shared intent.

Live performance:

Part of what has kept us together and active over the past decade is that we genuinely (and Ginuwinely, lol) love to perform. Our shows are really amazing because we have an incredibly diverse fanbase. We’ve never been able to pinpoint exactly who will connect with our music or show up at our concerts. We have a ton of young queer people and creatives, but we also have families with kids, service workers, and a lot of couples. That intersectionality is really powerful and it’s always fun to learn that you are a part of love in someone else’s journey and home.

Lucid dreaming:

There is a character in the music video called “Sparkle Spirit.” This character is a lucid dream guide meant to playfully introduce you to different aspects of yourself. It was partially inspired by The Muppet Christmas Carol . I have been actively lucid dreaming my entire life and have always been fascinated by the way you can access layers of consciousness in the lucid dream state, where you have an altered version of agency. Particularly as it pertains to sexuality, it’s always interesting to see what your subconscious does when it starts to wake up and take the reins with the knowledge of lack of consequence.

About Twenty One Pilots:

Grammy-Award winning band, Twenty One Pilots, have shifted music and culture as an incomparable creative force and with an ever-evolving vision. The Columbus, OH duo—Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun— have tallied over 33 billion global streams and counting, sold north of three million tickets worldwide, notched dozens of multi-Platinum certifications, and even claimed a spot in the Guinness® Book of World Records. In historic fashion, their quadruple-Platinum breakout LP, Blurryface , took flight as “the first album to notch a RIAA Gold or Platinum certification for every one of its songs ,” while Vessel followed suit and achieved the same distinction. They elevated to rarified air as “one of only 18 artists to earn multiple RIAA Diamond certifications , ” going Diamond with “Stressed Out” and “Heathens.” 2018’s Platinum-certified Trench extended the ambitious concept laid out in Blurryface and delivered the multi-Platinum and Platinum singles: “Chlorine,” “My Blood” and the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “Jumpsuit.” They followed Trench with their Gold-certified LP Scaled And Icy , achieving “the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021” by capturing #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts and crashing the Top 3 of the Billboard 200. Beyond rapturous headline shows at arenas and festivals worldwide, Twenty One Pilots have notably architected an immersive world without comparison, originating a multi-album conceptual arc across Blurryface , Trench , and Scaled And Icy . Exactly nine years to the date of the Blurryface album release, they complete this story on their seventh full-length offering, Clancy [Fueled By Ramen], out May 17, 2024. Led by the single “Overcompensate,” the LP signals the dawn of another era for Twenty One Pilots and alternative rock music at large.

Romania and Bulgaria partially join Europe’s Schengen travel zone, but checks at land borders remain

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s ID-check-free travel zone on Sunday, marking a new step in the two countries’ integration with the European Union.

After years of negotiations to join the Schengen area, there is now free access for travelers arriving by air or sea from both countries. However, land border checks will remain in place due to opposition primarily from Austria which has long blocked their bid over illegal migration concerns.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed the change as a “huge success for both countries” and a “historic moment” for what is the world’s largest free travel zone.

The Schengen Area was established in 1985. Before Bulgaria and Romania’s admission, it was comprised of 23 of the 27 EU member countries, along with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Around 3.5 million people cross an internal border each day.

Austria vetoed Romania and Bulgaria’s admission into the Schengen zone at the end of 2022 but allowed Croatia full accession. Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU in 2007 and Croatia in 2013.

Siegfried Muresan, a Romanian Member of the European Parliament, told The Associated Press that it is “an important first step” that will benefit millions of travelers annually.

“Bulgaria and Romania have been fulfilling all criteria for joining the Schengen area for years — we are entitled to join with the terrestrial border as well,” he said, adding that it “will offer additional arguments to the last EU member state that has been vetoing the full accession.”

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu called it a “well-deserved achievement” for Romania that he said will benefit citizens who can travel more easily and will bolster the economy.

“We have a clear and firmly assumed government plan for full accession to the Schengen Area by the end of the year,” he said.

The EU’s executive branch, the European Commission, has said for more than a decade that Romania and Bulgaria both meet the technical criteria for full accession, which requires unanimous support from their partners. Both countries have agreed to implement random security screening at airports and maritime borders to combat illegal migration and cross-border crime.

“Bulgaria’s full accession to Schengen will happen by the end of 2024,” Kalin Stoyanov, Bulgaria’s interior minister, told reporters on Sunday. “We showed and continue to show to illegal migrants that they should not take the road to Europe through Bulgaria.”

The lifting of border control is expected to facilitate operations at Bulgaria’s four international airports, which in 2023 saw nearly 11 million passengers, according to official data.

The airport in the capital, Sofia, serves as the biggest hub for Schengen flights which constitute 70% of all flights, airport representatives said.

While the eased regulations are expected to positively impact the tourism sector, members of the European Parliament have voiced concerns about long queues at the EU’s land borders and the impact it can have on trade in the bloc’s single market, as well as the health and safety of drivers.

Truck drivers are frequently stuck in kilometers-long queues at the borders of both Romania and Bulgaria. The Union of International Carriers in Bulgaria estimates delays cost the sector tens of millions of euros each year.

McGrath reported from Sighisoara, Romania.

15 affordable places to travel in 2024, ranked in a new report.

Want to take an affordable vacation in 2024? You’ve come to the right place. Although travel costs are on the rise this year ( up 3.1% ), it’s still possible to save money in 2024—if you know where to go.

A new travel report from the U.K.’s Post Office —a British-based mail and financial services company — has just unveiled some of the most budget-friendly destinations for 2024. And although the annual report is aimed at U.K. travelers, it’s a helpful list for Americans, too.

By analyzing currency strengths, local prices and essential tourist expenses in 40 popular vacation destinations around the globe, the Holiday Money Report 2024 highlights some of the cheapest places to travel. The report ranks the destinations based on a barometer that takes the local price of eight tourist essentials into consideration—including coffee, beer, cola, wine, water, sunscreen, insect repellent and a three-course meal. And while the report doesn’t include factors like hotels and airfare, it helps give a good sense of where your dollars will stretch the furthest.

This is the 18th year that the Post Office has done this report. And the good news: Prices have fallen since last year in 25 spots on the list. (A note that the original report included prices in pounds sterling, which have been converted into dollars here, using the exchange rate on the date of publication of 1.26.)

Leading the list as the cheapest place to travel right now is Hoi An, Vietnam. According to the Post Office report, a total estimated cost of just $64.51 a day for the travel essentials makes this charming gem the ultimate bang-for-your-buck destination that won’t break the bank. Located on the central coast of Vietnam, Hoi An entices visitors with its UNESCO -recognized Ancient Town, a picturesque spot where lantern-lit streets lead to quaint shops and street food stalls. It is also convenient to stunning white-sand beaches—some of the most beautiful in Asia .

Following closely behind in the second spot is Cape Town, South Africa, where an outlay of $68.48 a day for the essentials promises an unforgettable experience against the backdrop of Table Mountain and pristine coastlines. Here, you can dive into the vibrant culture and indulge in world-class dining (a three-course meal for two people averages less than $44.140) without denting your travel fund.

The coastline of Mombasa, Kenya, with a pair of camels on Diani Beach.

Mombasa, Kenya takes the third spot on the list. This beachfront destination on the east coast of Africa beckons with its white-sand shores, vibrant markets and rich Swahili heritage, offering an immersive experience for travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural exploration.

In a surprising twist, Tokyo, Japan—a bustling metropolis where tradition meets modernity—secures the fourth spot on the list. According to the Post Office, just $74.43 a day is needed for essential tourist purchases. Helping drive this ranking was the cost of a glass of wine (an average of only $4.56) and a bottle of water (averaging 77¢).

The cliffs of the Algarve overlooking the Atlantic Ocean above the Benagil cave in Lagoa, Portug.a

Rounding out the top five is the Algarve in Portugal, which combines culture, history and natural beauty at a fraction of the cost compared to previous years. With its sun-drenched beaches, charming villages and delectable seafood, the Algarve offers an idyllic escape for travelers seeking an affordable yet enriching getaway.

Hero Indian Open - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from day three in New Delhi.

Keita Nakajima took control, Gavin Green went low, we were close to the biggest of birds and putts were going in from everywhere in round three of the Hero Indian Open .

Here is everything you need to know from Saturday at DLF Golf & Country Club.

Nakajima in command

Nakajima will take a four-shot lead into the final round as he goes in search of a maiden DP World Tour title. The Japanese has been on top of the leaderboard since day one and followed up back-to-back 65s with a 68 to get to 18 under and match the biggest 54-hole lead of the season so far. Malaysia's Green carded a brilliant, bogey-free 64 to sit at 14 under alongside Frenchman Romain Langasque, who signed for a 70. Italian Matteo Manassero and France's Jeong weon Ko were then five back but all eyes will be on Nakajima as he looks to claim the second wire-to-wire win of the 2024 campaign.

Green means go

Green 's 64 was the lowest round of the day by two shots and second lowest of the week after Espen Kofstad's course-record 62 on Friday. A chip-in on the eighth was the highlight and he added six further birdies - including two to finish - to put himself in contention for a first win. "It was a solid round," he said. "Lots of fairways, gave myself lots of looks and made some putts. That’s the difference, you’ve got to hit fairways out here. It’s intimidating off the tee. I felt like today was a nice step in the right direction. We’re just going to go out and play our game, keep it on the fairway, keep it on the green, add it all up at the end and see what happens."

So close for Ko

We're yet to have an albatross this season but Ko came this close.

From downtown

Nakajima and Manassero both had their putting boots on.

No putter required

You need to do something special to sign for a 64 at DLF G&CC. How about this from Green.
