A TikTok user, who insists they are a 'time traveller', has shared what they say is footage of the end of the 2022 World Cup final. The clip appears to show the scenes at full time after Brazil have beaten France 2-1 to claim the trophy.

The poster, known by the username @worldcuptimetraveller (formerly @nsh.official), previously shared a clip in 2021 showing Italy beating England 2-1 in the delayed Euro 2020 final, The Daily Star reports . Weeks later, that is exactly what happened as English hearts were broken at Wembley.

The TikToker has now claimed that the Qatar World Cup 2022 final, which will take place on December 18, will be contested between Brazil and France. In the short video, Brazil fans are shown cheering and France players can be seen looking unhappy, as a graphic on the screen shows that the winning goal was scored by Tottenham forward Richarlison in the 83rd minute.

In the video, the TikTok user says: "Brazil just beat France at the 2022 World Cup final. I'm a time traveller." Some viewers were utterly convinced by the video, but others were more sceptical. @Ftbl.noah7 wrote: "Imagine if he gets it right again." @Codybailey905 quipped: "Funny way of spelling England." And @Klajd.karaj123 commented: "Why does it look so… real?"

But @Aron_tariq said: " bro used the celebration clip of richys goal yesterday," claiming that some of the footage came from the match between Brazil and Serbia on November 24. The self-proclaimed time traveller said they were " helping you out like last year" in reference to the video they made for the Euro 2020 final.

The TikTok user had also shared a clip of England beating Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter final of the Euros, which later came true.

Qatar world cup: 'time traveller' reveals the final & tournament winner.

Qatar World Cup outcome revealed as 'time traveller' shares 'footage' of the final...

The World Cup is in full flow as we enter the final round of group stage fixtures, with it being make or break for most nations if they are to have any success in the tournament in Qatar.

However, we may as well stop now as a time traveller has been to the future and seen the final, or so they claim, posting the video to TikTok which shows the scoreline and goalscorers of the biggest football match on earth.

I’m sorry England fans, but it’ll be another four years at least till it comes home, with Gareth Southgate’s men not making the final, as two other powerhouses are there instead. Both Brazil and France are the lucky nations that get to compete in the biggest game in world football, should this ‘time traveller’ not be pulling our legs, surely that wouldn’t happen?!

World Cup final 2022: Brazil vs France

That’s right, the final a week before Christmas Day will see two of the biggest footballing nations in the world will be fighting it out for that coveted trophy, with Brazil looking for a historic sixth crown. On the other hand, the French would be looking to make it a hat-trick of titles, becoming back-to-back champions of the world in the process.

Many are playing it safe and predicting one of these sides to be the champion, which is understandable when you look at the quality in depth they both have, who would be favourites? Well it’d be a toss of a coin.

World Cup 2022 hub page with latest updates

If you’re claiming to be a time traveller, then picking out a France vs Brazil final isn’t a major shock, nor is it difficult to pose as, however, the result, scorers and times have also been ‘revealed’.

View: 2022 World Cup final predicted by time traveller

Brazil will open the scoring in the final through an unlikely source as Marquinhos puts his nation ahead after 24 minutes, but their lead is wiped out instantly after the break, with a magical team talk seeing Antoine Griezmann level things up in the 46th minute.

Then, with just seven minutes remaining, Richarlison finds the back of the net to send the Brazilians into delirium, with successive titles not on the agenda for the European side.

What a dramatic final that would be, although we’d love the drama of extra-time and potentially penalties, although we won’t be getting that this year, according to the so-called time traveller.

'Time traveller's' World Cup prediction is still on and it's bad news for England

One tiktoker has been sharing footage of full-time match scenes from the future for a while now.

Aisha Nozari

Aisha Nozari

If you had the ability to time travel, what would you do? Perhaps you’d hitch a ride on a brontosaurus or ‘accidentally’ nudge toddler Hitler out a top floor window.

Or, if you’re Tiktoker @worldcuptimetraveller, you’d time warp forward a few weeks, stick a footie match on the TV , jankily film it on your phone then whack the footage on social media and spoil the World Cup 2022 results for everyone .

@worldcuptimetraveller has been sharing footage of full-time match scenes for a while now, and thanks to Brazil’s win over South Korea on Monday (5 December), it seems their predictions for the World Cup final are still on.

Watch their World Cup prediction video below:

Last month, @worldcuptimetraveller shared what they claimed to be footage showing who wins the tournament.

The clip suggested Brazil would win the title and showed footballers and fans from the South American country celebrating the massive win.

Alongside the footage, they wrote: "Brazil just beat France in the 2022 World Cup final."

@worldcuptimetraveller said Brazil would beat France 2-1 and their footage not only showed Brazilian players celebrating, but French player Olivier Giroud looking unhappy with his head bowed.

The scoreline Brazil 2 - France 1 could also be seen in @worldcuptimetraveller’s footage, as could official-looking World Cup graphics.

The clip also predicted that Marquinhos and Richarlison would net goals for Brazil, with Griezmann scoring for France.

A number of their predictions appear to have come true.

Seeing as it was confirmed in recent days that both Brazil and France have made it through to the World Cup’s quarter finals, @worldcuptimetraveller’s prediction could well come true.

@worldcuptimetraveller also told their followers that they were ‘helping you out like last year’ in reference to the fact they correctly predicted the outcome of the Euro 2020 final.

Ahead of the final, @worldcuptimetraveller - who used the handle @nsh.official at the time - predicted Italy would win the final 2-1, which the nation went on to do.

That said, plenty of people are still sceptical about @worldcuptimetraveller’s predictions.

Responding to the social media user’s post about the World Cup final, a few people pointed out that the so-called footage from the future appears to be from the Richarlison celebration goal.

Some, however, were quick to point out the 'time traveller's' winning predictions.

"He got it right on Euro 2020 btw," said one, while another wrote: "Imagine if he gets it right again."

A third added: "If those two actually playing in finals... I'm putting my life savings on Brazil."

'Time traveller' shares footage of the 2022 World Cup final

'Time traveller' shares footage of the 2022 World Cup final

We don’t know what’s going on, but TikTok seems to be full of ‘time travellers’ at the moment.

There are dozens of users on the site claiming to be from the future, and one of them is trying to tell us the result of this year’s World Cup final.

The user in question, named World Cup Time Traveller ( @worldcuptimetraveller ), is claiming that Brazil will win this year’s tournament after beating France in the final.

"Brazil just beat France in the 2022 World Cup final,” they wrote, alongside a video showing footage of the two sides. The clip is actually pretty well cut together, with Brazil celebrating, Olivier Giroud looking glum and the scoreline showing 2-1.

It’s not the most inspired of selections, particularly as Brazil are one of the favourites to win the tournament as things stand.

However, World Cup Time Traveller has made a few correct predictions in the past after saying that Italy would win the final of the Euros 2-1 and predicting England's 4-0 win over Ukraine last summer too.

People are divided, and while most are treating it with the scepticism it deserves, some genuinely seem to think the user is an actual time traveller in the comments.

It does beg the question, though – why are they posting videos on TikTok telling us all the results, rather than just keeping quiet and making a load of money by betting on the games?

World Cup Time Traveller has competition when it comes to viral TikTokers. User Eno Alaric, ( @RadiantTimeTraveler ) has gone viral with his videos that supposedly give us insight into the future, and in one of the most recent videos he has told viewers to remember four upcoming dates in December .

Alaric also claimed back in October he warned that a meteor will supposedly hit the Earth on December 8.

A TikTok user claiming to be a time traveller has shared a bizarre clip purportedly showing the final of the World Cup, including the teams and score.

TikTok user @worldcuptimetraveller has been sharing television footage of full-time scenes of matches which they claim to have taken in the future, The Sun reports.

Back in 2021 the mysterious poster, formerly known as @nsh.official, posted a prediction of the final score in the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.

They shared a clip showing Italy winning the final 2-1. Italy and England were locked up at 1-1 at the end of full time before Italy went on to win in penalties.

Now, the same user has sensationally claimed that they know who will be in the final of this year’s World Cup, and what the score will be.

Sharing footage which they claimed was taken three weeks in the future at the World Cup final, they claimed that Brazil will beat France 2-1.

The clip, shared with their 53k followers, shows Brazilian players and fans celebrating, while a dejected Olivier Giroud bows his head.

On the screen is the scoreline Brazil 2 – France 1, with the official-looking World Cup screen graphics.

The screen even shows the apparent goalscorers in the World Cup final, leaving the self-proclaimed time traveller with very little wiggle room.

According to the clip, the Brazil scorers will be Marquinhos and Richarlison, with Griezmann scoring for the French.

In the short video, which has garnered almost 2 million likes, the TikTok user said: “Brazil just beat France at the 2022 World Cup final. I’m a time traveller.”

The user added in the caption that they were “helping you out like last year” in reference to a video they made for the Euro 2020 final.

Many were impressed with the “time traveller’s” editing skills, even if they were more doubtful about their claims.

“Why does it look so … real,” one user said.

“Imagine if he gets it right again,” another added.

But others were quick to point out that the clip of Brazilian fans celebrating was actually taken from Richarlison’s goal in their opening World Cup match against Serbia.

While another pointed out that Giroud’s France kit appears to have only one star above the badge, meaning that it must be from before the 2018 World Cup final, where France won the competition for the second time.

The TikTok user, as well as claiming to have seen the final result coming also shared a clip of England thrashing Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter-final before the match even kicked off.

However, one TikTok user pointed out that the seemingly unnerving accuracy of the time traveller’s predictions isn’t all it seems.

Although they do seem to have got some scores correct, they have also reportedly deleted a number of predictions that didn’t come true.

'Time traveller's' World Cup prediction is still on and it doesn't bode well for England

A fan calling themselves the 'world cup time traveller' has been sharing footage over on tiktok..

Josh Lawless

Josh Lawless

The prediction of a TikTok user calling themselves 'the World Cup time traveller' is still on and it doesn't bode well for England.

Last month, @worldcuptimetraveller on TikTok shared television footage from three weeks in advance showing Brazil lifting a sixth World Cup.

Tite's side have been breathtaking in the Qatar showpiece and smashed South Korea 4-1 in their round of 16 clash on Monday.

Brazil will take on Croatia in the quarter-finals but as per the 'time traveller', the Selecao will go all the way and defeat holders Fance in the final.

The video, which has garnered over 30 million views, was captioned: “Brazil just beat France at the 2022 World Cup final. I'm a time traveller. Helping you out like last year.”

It featured footage of Brazil players celebrating while France's veteran striker Olivier Giroud cut a dejected figure.

According to the scoreline graphic we've seen used for all coverage, Richarlison and Marquinhos were on target, while Antoine Griezmann netted France's goal at the Lusail Stadium.

Image: Alamy

However, it should be noted that there is some doubt hanging over the world famous time traveller given the celebrations footage used is from Richarlison's first goal against Serbia.

There is still the potential for a Brazil vs France final because of the way the bracket is shaped up. Brazil will play the winner of Netherlands vs Argentina in the semi-final if they get past Croatia, while France will play Portugal should they best England in a first meeting since 2017 .

If both win those clashes, then the stage will be set.

The time traveller did correctly predict that I taly would beat England in the Euro 2020 final - though they had said it would be 2-1 to the Azzurri and not a penalty shoot-out triumph.

Image: Alamy

Another individual believing they have channelled their inner Marty McFly claimed football will come home with England beating Portugal 2-0 in the World Cup final , though that isn't possible as they would have to meet in the semis.

One self-proclaimed time-traveller claimed to have footage of England winning this winter's World Cup - but not everyone was convinced

A 'time traveller' has claimed that England will win this winter's World Cup

  • 11:14, 1 Dec 2022
  • Updated 11:20, 1 Dec 2022

A self-proclaimed time traveller has claimed to know who wins this winter's World Cup - and even shared a clip of the yet-to-happen event.

Posting on TikTok , one person claimed they had travelled in time from the future and alleged they had ‘proof’ of England winning the World Cup final.

They said ‘it’s coming home’ as they posted a video they claimed was proof of England beating Portugal in the final.

Without sharing too many details, they shared a video with a caption that read: "I'm a time traveller, England just beat Portugal in the World Cup final!!"

As the clip begins, a commentator can be heard saying “... are the champions of the world” before it shows the scores.

Captain Harry Kane , it claims, will score in the first half before Mason Mount would clinch the victory in the 84th minute.

The 2-0 score appeared on the TV screen before it cut to celebrating Three Lions fans inside a stadium.

Cristiano Ronaldo can then be seen walking away in disappointment and Portugal boss Fernando Santos threw his hands in the air.

The video continues to the River Thames showing a celebratory firework display as well as the London Eye.

The last time England won the World Cup was in 1966.

However, not everyone was convinced and when the draw is looked at, Portugal and England would meet in the semi-final, not final, if both teams progressed as far as they could.

Some fans mentioned crazy predictions that other alleged time travellers had made as well.

One said: "That's funny, some other time traveller said Brazil beat France 2-1 earlier”.

A second commented: "I see on yesterday saying England beat Brazil 1-0 in the final. A few time travellers out there aye."

A third referred to another source - the Simpsons - and said: "Nope, Simpsons said Portugal vs Mexico I think. Either way I love England but nah, we ain't winning."

Others were just impressed with the TikTokers slick editing skills combining different clips, but some recognised the origin of some of the videos too.

One commenter said: "Bro used audio from 2018 World Cup final France was the winner. If you focus, you could hear -nce."

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in numbers

The first FIFA World Cup™ to take place in the Arab world was as record-breaking as it was groundbreaking. Below are some of the official facts and figures from the greatest-ever edition of football’s biggest competition.

As Argentina lifted the FIFA World Cup Trophy at the end of one of the most exhilarating games of football in living memory, it capped the end of a more-than-memorable 29 days of football. For the first time in tournament history, an African nation reached the final four – as Morocco defied the odds to go on the FIFA World Cup journey of a lifetime – and fans of all 32 teams were able to gather in one place to bond over a shared passion for the beautiful game.

In what many called the greatest FIFA World Cup final of all time, records tumbled:

Argentina captain Lionel Messi hoisted the coveted winner’s trophy for the first time in his storied career, while notching up his record 26th FIFA World Cup appearance and winning the adidas Golden Ball Award along the way.

Kylian Mbappé became only the second player to score a hat-trick in a FIFA World Cup final, while also holding his nerve to convert his spot kick in the decisive penalty shoot-out, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with eight goals and taking home the adidas Golden Boot.

Mbappé’s second-half volley to level the scores at 2-2 was clocked at 123.34km/h, making it the most powerful scoring shot in the tournament.

The six-goal final helped to make Qatar 2022 the highest-scoring FIFA World Cup ever. A total of 172 goals were scored, eclipsing the previous tournament record of 171 goals, achieved in 1998 and 2014.

The magnificent moments on the pitch were not the only remarkable thing about this FIFA World Cup.

As the impressive figures kept coming in, viewership numbers and global interest also reached peak levels, telling the story of how football successfully united the world:

3.4 million spectators

The attendance at the final pushed the cumulative total for this FIFA World Cup to over 3.4 million spectators, with an average overall attendance capacity of 96.3%.

1.8 million +

Al Bidda Park in Doha saw more than 1.8 million fans enjoy the live broadcasts of games and the vibrant entertainment on offer at the FIFA Fan Festival™.

1 million +

Over one million visitors travelled to Qatar to watch matches in person, with the top visiting nations being: Saudi Arabia, India, the USA, the United Kingdom and Mexico.

First FIFA World Cup in the Arab world

The first FIFA World Cup in the Arab world introduced much of the world to the local culture and demonstrated the passion for football held by fans in the region.

For the first time ever...

For the first time ever, countries from five different continents qualified for the knockout stage, with Morocco becoming the first-ever African or Arab nation to make it as far as the semi-finals.

The most compact FIFA World Cup

The most compact FIFA World Cup since the inaugural edition in 1930 also benefitted fans, teams and media representatives, who had the option of attending several matches and entertainment activities per day.

420,000 volunteer applications

A record 420,000 volunteer applications were received, of which 20,000 were chosen, including 3,000 international volunteers from 150 different nations to help support and deliver all facets of the tournament.

9.19 million trips

During the group stage, the busiest phase of the tournament, the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks notched up 9.19 million trips, with a daily average of 707,032 passengers.

Audience figures

Around five billion people engaged with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, following tournament content across an array of platforms and devices across the media universe. On social media, according to Nielsen, there were 93.6 million posts across all platforms, with a 262 billion cumulative reach and 5.95 billion engagements.

The final on TF1 attracted an average audience of 24.08 million viewers, 81% of the audience share. This was 24% greater than the audience for the France v. Croatia final in 2018 (19.38 million) and an all-time viewing record in France.

The final was aired across three channels (TV Publica, TyC Sports and DirecTV) – with a combined audience of 12.07 million viewers.

The final attracted a combined audience of almost 26 million – with the coverage on FOX being the most watched English-language broadcast of a FIFA World Cup in the USA. The final was also the most-watched match of the tournament in Spanish, with a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of nine million viewers – a 65% increase compared to the 2018 final.

Pan-Middle East and North Africa

Coverage of the final aired live across the MENA region on beIN Sports. The match achieved an audience reach of 242.79 million viewers – equivalent to 67.8% of the channel’s potential television audience.

Rest of the world

The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup was also hugely successful for FIFA’s Commercial Affiliates – with over five billion people reached, the platform that the tournament provides is like no other. All global and regional sponsorship packages were sold out, with the 32 Commercial Affiliates activating more than 600 special marketing programmes.

Seven FIFA Partners

Seven FIFA World Cup Sponsors

18 Regional Supporters across FIFA’s five regions

Together, these companies, along with the sponsors of other FIFA tournaments, ensured that FIFA comfortably exceeded its budget for marketing rights revenues during the 2019-2022 cycle.

The sale of licensing rights achieved excellent results in the 2019-2022 cycle, with revenues 28% higher than in the 2015-2018 cycle.

Other achievements of note:

FIFA ran its largest-ever licensing and retail programme at the FIFA World Cup, with retail revenues exceeding those from the previous edition.

As well as tournament stores, a permanent flagship FIFA Store was also opened at Hamad International Airport in Doha.

154 FIFA Store outlets were opened and operated across the eight stadiums.

FIFA also launched a major ecommerce offering – fifastore.com – featuring product ranges for the FIFA World Cup and all of FIFA’s properties.

Licensing revenues also included contracts with FIFA Branded Licensees such as Taittinger, Hublot, Louis Vuitton and Panini.

FIFA World Cup™ match schedule confirmed: hosts Qatar to kick off 2022 tournament at Al Bayt Stadium

Final confirmed to take place at 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium at 18:00 on 18 December

Four matches a day throughout the group stage ensures optimal rest time for the teams

Qatar’s unique footprint allows later assignment of group matches for the benefit and comfort of fans

The iconic image of FIFA World Cup™ champions France lifting the trophy at Luzhniki Stadium is still fresh in the memory of every football fan. Exactly two years after that historic occasion on 15 July 2018, the unveiling of the match schedule for the next edition invites the football world to dream of a new beginning – one that, now, has a precise time and place to start.

Al Bayt Stadium, a 60,000-capacity arena that takes its name and shape from the traditional tents used by nomadic peoples in the Gulf region, will be the stage for hosts Qatar to kick off the tournament on Monday 21 November 2022 at 13:00 local time* (11:00 CET). The local kick-off times for group matches have been set for 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00, with the simultaneous kick-offs for the last round of group games and knockout-stage timings being 18:00 and 22:00. Khalifa International Stadium will be the setting for the play-off for third place on 17 December. The final will kick off one day later at 18:00 at Lusail Stadium in front of an 80,000 crowd.

With the aim of providing all teams with optimal rest between their matches, the group stage will last 12 days and, with four matches per day, it promises a full and exciting schedule for fans. The tournament’s compact nature – with no air travel needed to move between the venues – will allow organisers, for the first time, to optimise specific match demands for the benefit and comfort of fans, teams and media.

This will be achieved through the assignment of the group fixtures for each matchday to a stadium and kick-off time only after the final draw, currently planned for after the March 2022 international match calendar qualifying window. Once the pairings are known, the possibility will be discussed of providing a more beneficial kick-off time for audiences at home, or indeed for fans in Qatar with regard to the stadium allocation.

That additional flexibility is possible without affecting any technical aspects since all stadiums are located within a compact radius and the climate is perfect at that time of year in Qatar, whether it is an early or a late kick-off. On top of that, this will potentially give fans the opportunity to attend more than one match a day during the group stage.

For those eager to book their seats at Qatar 2022, hospitality sales are scheduled to start in late 2020. Ticket sales for the general public will be conducted solely via FIFA.com/tickets, where details on the timeline, phases, categories and prices will be communicated in due course.

In the meantime, detailed information on the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for each confederation is available on FIFA.com. The latest updates in relation to the international match calendar in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic can be found here and here.

*All times mentioned are local. Arabia Standard Time (AST) is UTC/GMT+3 or CET+2. The final capacities of all FIFA World Cup stadiums during the event will be confirmed closer to the tournament.

When is the World Cup 2022?

So, when exactly does the World Cup start? The 2022 World Cup will begin with an opening ceremony scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. local time, (9 a.m. EST) Sunday, November 20, followed by the starting match between host country Qatar and Ecuador kicking off at 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. EST) on Sunday, November 20. There will be a total of 64 games played over five rounds: The group stage, a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final. The group stage matches will play out until Friday, December 2, then the round of 16 games will run from December 3 to December 6. The quarter-finals will take place on December 9 and December 10, and the semi-finals will consist of two matches—one on December 13, and one on December 14. The final match and closing ceremony will both take place on Sunday, December 18, with the last game starting at 6 p.m. local time (10 a.m. EST).

Where is the World Cup 2022?

The 2022 World Cup is hosted by Qatar. The matches are going to be held between eight venues in the capital city of Doha , and the surrounding cities of Lusail, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, and Al Wakrah. Each of the Qatar World Cup stadiums completed construction in the past two years explicitly for the games, with the exception of the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, which was build in 1976.

The opening ceremony will take place at the 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, just outside of Doha, and the closing ceremony will be held at the 80,000-capacity Lusail stadium, also near Doha.

Who is performing at the opening ceremony?

More than wanting to know when and where the opening ceremony will take place, the Internet is buzzing with an even bigger question: Who will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony? Ahead of official announcements from FIFA, K-Pop sensation BTS confirmed that Jung Kook, one of the band's seven members, will be performing at the ceremony.

CBS Sports report that Lil Baby, who recorded a song titled “The World Is Yours to Take” for the 2022 World Cup soundtrack, will also be performing. The Telegraph has reported that Canadian actress Nora Fatehi is expected to sing the tournament's official song at the opening ceremony. Dua Lipa, The Cure, and Rod Stewart have all confirmed via their individual Twitter accounts that they are not performing. There's also online gossip of a Shakira performance—she recorded the World Cup 2010 theme song—though that has been chased by reports in Spanish media that she has since backed out.

Other performances expected to take place during the Cup, according to the Telegraph, are concerts at the Doha Golf Club by British singer Robbie Williams (on December 8), the Black Eyed Peas performance (on November 20), and J Balvin  (on November 24).

Who qualified for the World Cup?

There's always a lot of talk—and national pride—as we find out who qualified for the World Cup. There are 32 World Cup qualified teams representing every division: Africa (CAF), Asia (AFC), Europe (UEFA), North/Central America & Caribbean (CONCACAF), Oceania (OFC), and South America (CONMEBOL). FIFA has grouped the qualified teams into eight draws (for the sports laymen, that means the teams in each draw, or group, will face off against each other first):

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands Group B: England, Iran, United States, Wales Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

Who is the favorite to win the world cup 2022 in Qatar?

Brazil, who has won the most World Cups with five trophies, is the favorite to win the 2022 World Cup, according to the latest polls by Bet365 . They are followed by Argentina , France, England, and Spain.

What are the chances of the United States winning the World Cup 2022?

We are the underdog.

Odds are very low that the U.S. wins the 2022 World Cup, according to Draft Kings . While there is always hope, the teams that the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) is up against in group B are in much better standing. The USMNT is slightly favored to make it past the first group stage, though England is the rightful favorite to win the group.

Where can I watch the World Cup?

The World Cup 2022 will be available live on FOX Sports and FS1 in the United States—available in English, as well as in Spanish on Telemundo. Both of these channels are available to stream on major platforms like Peacock TV , Hulu , YouTube TV , and Sling , among others.

Where can I stream the World Cup 2022 for free?

The ad-supported streaming platform Tubi will broadcast all World Cup matches free of charge. There's a catch though, the matches will only be available as a replay, on-demand.

(As you probably know, the streaming services above offer free trials—many of one month—which would make watching the 2022 World Cup free during the trial period.)

When is the next World Cup?

The FIFA Women's World Cup is taking place next year in Australia and New Zealand , from July 20, 2023 to August 20, 2023. There's still time to plan a memorable trip to watch the U.S. women's team compete—a team that is actually likely to take home the win, yet again.

The next men's World Cup will be in 2026. For the first time ever, there will be three host countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Host cities will be Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey, Toronto and Vancouver. Tickets haven't gone on sale yet, but keep an eye on this page for details.

Traveling to the World Cup 2022?

Flights to qatar.

Most Qatar flights are offered on Doha's own, Qatar Airways . The airline partners with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, JetBlue, and more. Of the four Qatar airports, only one is international: Doha's Hamad International Airport (DOH). Non-stop flights to Doha take 12 hours and 35 minutes from New York City , 15 hours and 40 minutes from Los Angeles , and 6 hours and 35 from London .

What to do in Qatar

All international travelers heading into Qatar will need to fly via Doha, and that's a good thing—the city has rich offerings when it comes to fantastic hotels, world class restaurants, and cultural draws. There has been a ton of activity on the museum front, for starters: the Jean Nouvel-designed National Museum of Qatar opened in 2019, the very on-theme Olympic Museum opened this April ahead of the Cup, and the latest, the Museum of Islamic Art—credited with establishing Doha as a creative hub—reopened this October in a five-story limestone building designed by I.M. Pei.

When you've finished working your way through the above, make a point to shop at Souq Waqif, a century-old shopping landmark, or earmark a day for a desert safari to get you out of the city. Read more about the best things to do in Doha in our just-updated guide, below.

Qatar hotels

As with most major global sporting events, the host country prepares for years to show off the best of their nation. That usually means improving infrastructure, building top-of-the-line sports arenas, and, yes, investing in luxurious, world-class accommodations. Given that this is the biggest event ever hosted by Qatar, U.S. heavy-hitters and international brands went all in.

While new properties like the Banyan Tree Doha and Zulal Wellness Resort are making big splashes, the grande dame in the city has long been the St. Regis Qatar . Known for housing some of the best restaurants in the urban center, like Chef Ho Yiek Chung's contemporary Chinese spot Hakkasan, the Marriott property is an ideal choice. If you want to stay closer to the Lusail Stadium, where the final—and biggest—matches will take place, the U-shaped architectural feat of the Katara Towers (one side is Raffles Doha , the other Fairmont Doha ) is opening right in time for the action. Or, check into the expansive Waldorf Astoria Lusail Doha set to open in October 2023.

Get the full rundown on the best hotels in Doha through our new guide, where we cover wellness resorts, historic guesthouses, and much more.

Qatar restaurants

If you were planning on just grabbing a quick bite at the hotel between matches, think again. The food scene in Doha has undergone somewhat of a renaissance as of late (not unrelated to that aforementioned investment poured into every corner of the hospitality sector ahead of the Cup). Expect to find local flavors like spiced karak tea and machboos (reminiscent of biryani) in the form of Qatari street food, and elevated dishes at restaurants like Jiwan by Alain Ducasse, which serves Qatari dishes with French flair (think desserts that combine strawberry and labneh, for example). There are of course more international flavors, such as Syrian food at Damasca One , and Sri Lankan at contemporary Nourlaya . And if it is great hotel dining you're after? Make a beeline for Jean-George Vongerichten’s South American Curiosa in the Four Seasons hotel on West Bay, or Gaston Acurio's ceviche haven La Mar at the InterContinental .

Get more tips on the best restaurants in Doha, Qatar , through our complete dining guide.

What are Qatar's travel requirements?

As for the standard Qatar travel requirements, your passport will need to be valid at least six months after your return date. Though Qatar usually requires a tourist visa upon entry (it costs roughly $27), only travelers with a ticket or approved by someone with a ticket can enter the country around the World Cup 2022, from November 1 to December 22. If you have a World Cup game ticket, or are traveling with a ticket holder, apply for your Hayya Card before traveling—this will function as your visa for entry to the country, and ticket into the World Cup stadiums. (It also grants fee metro and bus access in the country.) Travelers without a Hayya Card will not be permitted entry.

Additionally, COVID-19 travel restrictions for U.S. visitors to Qatar have been essentially eliminated—a vaccination certificate is no longer required to enter the country, nor are negative test results. Travelers no longer need to use the Ehteraz health certification app upon arrival, but are required to show it if/when entering public and private healthcare facilities.

Keep tabs on the most up-to-date Qatar travel requirements and restrictions on the Qatar's website.

What is Qatar's weather like?

In November and December, temperatures are very pleasant at an average of 79 degrees Fahrenheit. While the country gets quite hot in the Summer months (think 106 degrees Fahrenheit), from November to March the weather is warm and perfect for travel.

What is the currency in Qatar?

The Qatari riyal is the official currency in the Middle Eastern country. At the time of publishing, the exchange rate is USD 1 = QAR 3.64. As is always the case when traveling abroad, try to bring at least $50 to $100 per person, per day—you never know when a restaurant isn't going to take your credit card or when an ATM might be hard to find.

Can you drink in Qatar?

Yes, alcohol is available at licensed restaurants and bars for those over the age of 21. Each stadium will have areas where sports goers can grab a beer or Jack Daniels. Drinking is illegal outside of these licensed spaces (like, in your hotel room).

A Tik Tok user nicknamed the “Time Traveler” has caused a stir on social media when the user uploaded a video revealing who would win the Qatar 2022 World Cup . The account has more than 54,000 followers on the platform. The first video posted on the profile was in June 2021.

The mysterious poster, known under the username @worldcuptimetraveller (formerly @nsh.official), has been sharing television footage of full-time scenes of matches which they claim to have filmed in the future.

“Time Traveler” announced the final result, as well as the players who would score the goals during the final match at the Lusail stadium on December 18th

time traveller world cup 2022

According to the Tik Tok user, the two finalist teams will be France and Brazil, with the latter winning 2 to 1. The victory would give the “verde amarelha” team the longed-for sixth World Cup. The scoreboard would open with a goal by Antoine Griezmann followed by a goal by Marquinhos, who would tie the match 1-1. Richarlison would later give the victory to Brazil.

The “Time Traveler” uploaded videos where Brazil is seen celebrating its victory and the French team laments the results of the World Cup final. Many Internet users question whether they are real, and how the ‘Time Traveler’ produced those videos. One user wrote that the clip of Richarlison celebrating was from the team’s match against Serbia on November 24th.

How to Watch the 2022 World Cup

T he 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Qatar at 11 a.m. ET, marking the first-time the four-week international soccer tournament will take place in a Middle Eastern country.

Thirty-two teams will travel to Qatar to compete for the coveted title of the world’s best soccer team, though this year’s tournament will be notably different, taking place five months after its usual start date due to the host country’s intense heat.

The World Cup in Qatar has been the subject of much criticism and controversy, with reports of human rights abuses that have led to serious illness and even death of thousands of foreign workers.

Some networks that will broadcast the games, like Fox News, have said they will steer clear of reporting on the country’s troubling record. “Our focus is entirely on the 64-game tournament,” Fox Sports executive producer David Neal told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Eight stadiums across five cities will host the event. You can find a rundown of the upcoming matches by visiting FIFA’s website . The teams were split into eight groups, with four teams in each category. Group matches end on Friday, Dec. 2. Quarter-finals begin on Friday, Dec. 9.

The World Cup final will take place on Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. ET at Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Here’s how you can watch:

How to watch on TV

Live broadcasts of the World Cup will be available on FOX Sports (FOX and FS1).

Spanish speakers can also watch soccer matches in their preferred language on Telemundo Deportes or Universo.

The World Cup will not be available on ESPN or ESPN +.

How to stream

Live streaming is available for Peacock subscribers for $4.99 a month. Viewers can enjoy the match in Spanish.

Fubo TV also has bilingual viewing options for the World Cup. Fans can take advantage of the 7-day free trial if they don’t want to commit to a subscription immediately. Sling and Vidgo are two other subscription services that will offer the matches.

FIFA will also be streaming the matches online through FIFA+ Live . They provide live coverage of men’s, women’s and youth soccer matches from around the world. The app is available to download on Android and iOS devices and provides coverage in 11 languages.

Correction, Nov. 21

The original version of this story misstated in which languages Peacock will stream the World Cup. It is streaming in Spanish only, not in English.

Argentina's wish of winning this year's World Cup in Qatar hangs in the balance, after a 'Time Traveller' shared the winner of the tournament on TikTok.

La Albiceleste are looking to win back-to-back major tournaments in the Middle East country, having ended a 28-year wait for a major trophy by winning the Copa America last year in Brazil.

Lionel Messi and his teammates will face the Netherlands in a mouthwatering quarter-final clash at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Friday evening, with the winner facing either Brazil or Croatia in the semi-finals.

The Time Traveller's prediction

A user on TikTok, @worldcuptimetraveller , has circulated a television clip which shows who will get their hands on the World Cup trophy.

In a video posted on TikTok, spotted by Sports Brief , the 'Time Traveller' claims Messi and Argentina have no chance of winning the World Cup. He instead states that Brazil will beat France 2-1 to win this year's Mundial.

He captioned the video: “Brazil just beat France at the 2022 World Cup final. I'm a time traveller. Helping you out like last year.”

In the video, Tottenham forward Richarlison and Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos were the scorers for Brazil, while Antoine Griezmann netted for France.

Doubts over Time Traveller's prediction

However, TikTok users spotted some errors in the world famous time traveller's video. It appears the celebrations footage used is from Richarlison's first goal against Serbia in Brazil's opening match at the World Cup.

Brazil could face France

Brazil could still face France in the World Cup final due to the way the bracket is shaped up.

The Samba Boys will cross swords with either Netherlands or Argentina in the semi-final if they get past Croatia, while France will play Portugal or Morocco should they beat England in the quarters.

How Messi could play Ronaldo

Argentina and Portugal, who are home to two of the greatest players in football history, have been impressive in the tournament so far.

The two teams are already through to the quarter-finals, with Portugal demolishing Switzerland 6-1 in the round of 16 to advance, Sports Brief earlier reported.

On their part, Argentina had to overcome a stubborn Australian side to advance, with Messi scoring in that clash.

World Cup 2026: Concerns over fans’ U.S. visa wait times – ‘Your window might already be closed’

World Cup

Concerns have been raised with the United States government, including an official meeting in the White House, over fears supporters may be deterred from the 2026 men’s World Cup owing to excessive wait times to process visa applications to visit the country.

The tournament begins in 777 days and it will be at least another 18 months before many countries will be assured of qualification, yet the wait times for U.S. visa interviews in two Mexican cities are already in excess of 800 days, while it is 685 days in the Colombian capital of Bogota.

In a statement to The Athletic , the U.S. Department of State (which oversees international relations) insisted it is determined to reduce wait times but also encouraged supporters in affected countries to start applying for visas now, over two years out from the tournament and with the line-up still unknown.

The 2026 edition of world football’s governing body FIFA ’s flagship tournament will include 48 nations for the first time and will be held in 16 cities in the U.S, Canada and Mexico.

It will also be the first World Cup without an overarching local organising committee, which means FIFA is tasked with pulling everything together, in conjunction with the many layers of stakeholders and bureaucracy across three nations and 16 host cities, each of which have differing levels of private and taxpayer support.

The three host countries also have differing entry criteria for visitors, which has the potential to create visa confusion for fans seeking to follow their team deep into the tournament across multiple borders.

time traveller world cup 2022

Several host cities, including the location for the final — New York/New Jersey — are also concerned about the wait times for visas, and the potential impact on income from tourism during the tournament, but the cities are currently allowing FIFA and the travel industry to lead the conversations with the government. Some of those who have spoken to The Athletic wished to remain anonymous, owing either to sensitivity around discussions or to protect working relationships.

Travis Murphy is the founder of Jetr Global Sports + Entertainment and a former American diplomat who also once ran international government affairs for the NBA .

“My concern is this could be a disaster (in 2026),” he said. “The concerns are absolutely there on the city level. The cities are thinking, ‘They are FIFA, so they must have it under control.’ But when you realise how FIFA worked in the past with previous hosts in Qatar and Russia, it doesn’t necessarily work in the United States.

“We’re just a completely different animal in terms of how our government operates and how we communicate. And frankly, the emphasis that we place on soccer as a sport in our country.

“If this was the Super Bowl, the World Series or the NBA finals, we’d be having a different conversation. Soccer is not the biggest sport in our country. And I think that’s a fundamental lack of understanding by FIFA, perhaps just taking it for granted that it is the case everywhere in the world. But it’s not yet in the United States.”

In recent months, U.S. travel industry representatives and FIFA have raised concerns with the U.S. Department of State and the White House as the respective groups seek to organise how millions of tourists will enter the U.S. during the five-week tournament in June and July 2026. In January 2024, FIFA strengthened its staff in D.C. when it hired Alex Sopko, the former chief of staff for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House, to be its new Director of Government Relations.

In a statement to The Athletic , a FIFA spokesperson said the organisation is working closely with U.S. Government in the planning and preparation for the World Cup, including regular discussions on critical topics such as immigration and visas, and adding it recognises “the urgency of these matters.”

The visa delays ahead of the World Cup were raised in a meeting at the White House on Wednesday, April 17, with senior administration officials in conversation with the United States Travel Association (U.S. Travel).

Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of U.S. Travel, was present in the meeting. He describes visa wait times as a “massive issue” but added: “We came away confident that the White House recognises the significance of the 2026 World Cup and will take concrete steps to streamline aspects of the travel experience for the more than eight million anticipated visitors.”

Freely available data on the website of the Department of Consular affairs details the lengthy wait times currently impacting visitor visas from markets that may be highly relevant during the World Cup, which begins in 778 days.

Forty-one countries, including much of Europe, Japan, South Korea and Australia, are part of a visa waiver programme — ESTA — to enter the United States, which means citizens of these countries can travel without obtaining a visa, so as long as their trip for tourism or business does not exceed 90 days.

However, many people, estimated by U.S. Travel to represent 45 per cent of those who visit the States, do require visas for entry. These documents, called a B1/B2 visa, also require in-person appointments at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to take digital photographs and fingerprints, as well as an interview, in which the candidate must state their intention to return to their home countries and explain their reasons for visiting the United States.

Infantino

Wait times for a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in the Mexican cities of Mexico City and Guadalajara are currently 878 days and 820 days respectively, so an application made today may not be approved before the World Cup begins. In the Colombian capital of Bogota, the current wait time is 685 days, while Panama City is 477 days and Quito in Ecuador is 420.

The 2026 World Cup is guaranteed to include the U.S, Mexico and Canada as hosts but five more nations may yet qualify from North and Central America, while up to seven may enter from the South American Football Confederation. Wait times are also dramatic in the Turkish city of Istanbul, where it takes 553 days for an appointment, as well as in Morocco, semi-finalists at the World Cup in 2022, where the wait time is 225 days.

In a statement to The Athletic, the state department said: “We encourage prospective FIFA World Cup visitors who will need U.S. visas to apply now – there is no requirement to have purchased event tickets, made hotel reservations, or reserved airline tickets to qualify for a visitor visa.”

Freeman attributes the current visa delays to the shutdown of consular offices during the coronavirus pandemic but also outlines long-standing issues.

“The U.S. is the world’s most desired nation to visit, but our market share is slipping and it’s in a large part due to long visa wait times,” he said. “If you are Colombian and want to come and bring your kids in 2026, your window might already be closed.”

A World Cup is further complicated because many supporters may wait until their nations have secured qualification to organise their trip. For the Americas, this will largely be in winter 2025 — the play-offs may be as late as March 2026 — while nations will only know the cities in which their teams will be competing following the draw, which is usually held eight months out from the tournament.

During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, visitors were able to expedite their entry into the country by applying for a Hayya card, effectively a fan pass for World Cup ticket holders that acted as a visa for the tournament. A repeat pass is not expected to be approved by the U.S, particularly at a time of global tensions both in the Middle East and following Russia ’s invasion of and continued war against Ukraine .

Freeman warned: “The U.S. is not going to change its visa policies in the short term to frankly cater to FIFA. I think where you may see the U.S. adjust some of its approach is in cooperation with Mexico and Canada . So once teams have qualified within the tournament, how do we streamline their ability to cross borders and attend games in other markets later in the tournament? I believe that’s where there will be greater cooperation and some of those discussions are already taking place.”

The answer may simply be additional staff and investment, such as deploying more consular officers at embassies, a method which has helped significantly reduce wait times from Brazil and India over the past year. Congress set aside $50million for the U.S. State Department to “reduce passport backlogs and reduce visa wait times” in a bill signed into law by U.S. President Joe Biden in March but it was not specified how and where the money will be invested.

There is a precedent for visa issues causing delays at major international sporting events in the United States. Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, who set the African 100metres record of 9.77 seconds in 2021, only received his visa documentation the day before the men’s 100 metres heats began at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 2022.

After securing his visa in Kenya, he took a five-hour flight to Qatar, endured a six-hour layover, then a 14-hour flight to Seattle, another three-hour layover and last of all, a one-hour flight to Oregon. He landed at 4.15 pm and immediately went to the track, where the heats commenced at 6.50pm.

time traveller world cup 2022

The sprinter said: “If you are hosting a championship, you need to waive (visa requirements) for athletes. It’s a lesson for the host country in the future, and the U.S. is hosting the Olympics in 2028 (in Los Angeles), so they need to learn from this and do better next time.”

Murphy added: “There were hundreds of athletes who were unable to travel. The World Athletics Championships was was a relatively small event compared to the magnitude of what we’re talking about with the 48-team World Cup and the millions and millions of people involved, in terms of what needs to happen.”

Playing rosters are usually only approved in the final months before a tournament, but the U.S. is expected to expedite processing to ensure players and support staff from federations are able to arrive in time for the World Cup.

The U.S. Department of State attributes the issues at World Athletics to the pressures felt by consular officers coming out of the pandemic and told The Athletic that wait times for “P-visas”, generally used by members of professional sports teams coming to participate in athletic competitions, are “low worldwide”.

Murphy said the National Security Council has established a working committee on the matter for the White House but caveated his optimism with a reminder that more instant priorities are Israel, Gaza and Ukraine. He said: “This is not a priority beyond the host cities, FIFA itself and the members of Congress who represent those host cities. But in terms of there being a broad approach that is all-encompassing and has a wide swath of support in Congress, there’s just nothing there. There’s no bills or initiatives in Congress that are focused on this.”

He added: “The conversations that needed to have started a year plus ago are not at a point where they need to be. And when you’re talking about the U.S. Government, it is essentially at a state of standstill in terms of any major movement that needs to happen from now until November of this year (when there is a Presidential election).”

The Department of State insisted it is “committed to facilitating legitimate travel to the United States while maintaining high national security standards.”

Its statement continued: “We are pleased to be an active participant in a working group with FIFA and other stakeholders on plans for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Bureau of Consular Affairs recognizes the importance of international inbound tourism, including for mega sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup, and is working tirelessly to facilitate secure travel to the United States. We have significantly reduced visa wait times over the past two years.”

One of the peculiarities of the U.S. political system is that there is no sports ministry to facilitate such discussions. In its absence, Murphy calls for a special envoy to be appointed, with the World Cup likely to be followed by the women’s edition in 2027 before the Olympics in LA in 2028.

He said: “There has to be somebody centralised to organise those conversations. That’s relatively easy to do. If it’s somebody that has the respect and attention of the cabinet agencies, they can have a conversation with Capitol Hill and that’s going to go a long way to getting things done.”

How did teams qualify?

West Indies and USA earned automatic entry by being hosts, with the latter to now play in the tournament for the first time, while England, Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Australia, South Africa, Netherlands and Sri Lanka secured their places by finishing in the top eight of the previous T20 World Cup in 2022.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh were then included after being the next two highest teams in the T20I rankings, with every other spot determined by regional qualifiers.

Ireland and Scotland came through the European section and Papua New Guinea emerged from the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.

Canada - who will also make their tournament debut - progressed through the Americas Qualifier, while Nepal and Oman are the Asian qualifiers, with Namibia and Uganda coming through the African Qualifier to complete the line-up.

17.9 miles of BeltLine trail to be completed in time for 2026 World Cup

A tlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s President & CEO Clyde Higgs announced today at a press conference that 17.9 miles of the 22-mile trail are expected to be complete for the 2026 World Cup matches.

Dickens said construction will start earlier on two Southside Trail segments helping to move up the completion timeline. Originally slated to be completed in June 2026, these segments are now set to be finished in the first quarter of 2026.

“By accelerating the completion of the longest continuous stretch of the BeltLine trail yet, we are accelerating equal access to economic prosperity and some of the best natural beauty Atlanta has to offer,” Dickens said. “From our federal and non-profit partners to our engineers and contractors, this has truly been a group project. Thank you to everyone involved in creating safer, healthier and more connected communities in our city.”

The accelerated construction schedule is part of the city’s efforts to prepare for the influx of visitors expected for the eight World Cup soccer matches that will be played in Atlanta in 2026. Each match is akin to hosting a Super Bowl, and organizers say visitors will number in the millions.

When the 16.3 miles of continuous trail is complete, it will connect 36 neighborhoods along the Northwest, Westside, Southside, Eastside and Northeast trails. The mainline and connector trails will provide access to parks and destinations, including Washington Park, Westside Park, and Piedmont Park . Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the World Cup soccer matches will be played, is 1.6 miles from Washington Park, one of the closest access points to the BeltLine from downtown Atlanta. The Westside BeltLine connector trail is only half a mile from the stadium and ties directly into the BeltLine’s Westside Trail.

“We wanted to announce this construction plan as early as possible so that the neighborhoods and small businesses along the trail can maximize the opportunity that FIFA will bring,” Higgs said. “This will be a momentous milestone for us. To have more than 16 continuous miles of mainline trail completed of our 22-mile loop will be a gamechanger. People will be able to ride bikes, roll, run, walk, socialize and commute along the completed, continuous trail, allowing Atlantans and visitors to discover historic neighborhoods, BeltLine arts, retailers, businesses and destinations along the way.”

Southside Trail—Segments 2 and 3 will extend 1.9-miles from Pittsburgh Yards® in southwest Atlanta to Boulevard in southeast Atlanta. Once complete, these trail segments will provide safe passage under the 16 lanes of the Interstate 75/85 connector and under an active vehicle and freight rail intersection at McDonough Boulevard. The trail also will connect to several Atlanta Public Schools, including Carver High School and Slater Elementary, and parks including DH Stanton Park.

While the paved trail portion of the BeltLine continues to move forward, the future of rail on the corridor remains in flux. Dickens roiled rail supporters earlier this month with comments that appeared to backtrack on his initial support for transit on the loop.

In an interview with Atlanta News First , Dickens revealed he wasn’t sold on the idea of extending the Atlanta Streetcar from Downtown to Ponce City Market, which MARTA currently has in the planning stages . “Do we want it to be on rails, do we want it to be on rubber tires, do we want small pods or do we want to leave this as a walking trail?” Dickens said.

Instead, the mayor has touted four new infill MARTA stations as ways to create more access to the BeltLine.

The post 17.9 miles of BeltLine trail to be completed in time for 2026 World Cup appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta .

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s President & CEO Clyde Higgs announced today at a press conference that 17.9 miles of the 22-mile trail are expected to be complete for the 2026 World Cup matches. Dickens said construction will start earlier on two Southside Trail segments helping to move up the completion timeline. […]

Accor Pacific’s chief executive officer, Sarah Derry, talks sustainable travel and creating unforgettable moments for travellers to France.

For travellers visiting France for the Rugby World Cup, what unforgettable moments can Accor guests look forward to?

From being the official supplier of the Roland Garros , to working with the PSG football club on the Accor Live Limitless program, creating memorable experiences for travellers is our goal. Via the ALL-Accor Live Limitless program, guests can earn points for Accor stays; in fact, Australians can increase the value of their points when they stay in an Accor hotel before the Rugby World Cup, or the Olympics.

Every traveller loves a warm welcome Describe Accor’s diversity and inclusion initiatives in 2022.

Accor is concerned with giving all travellers a warm welcome and taking care of people. Accor participates in a number of initiatives; we’re a co-leader of the Gender-based Violence Coalition alongside UN Women. We joined the Valuable 500 initiative in 2021, a global initiative innovating for disability inclusion, and we’re a Platinum Partner of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association . To ensure guests with disabilities feel welcome we devised the Smart Room concept, with tailor-made features to improve accessibility Our goal is to upgrade all mobility-friendly rooms into Smart Rooms for use by everyone and their families. It’s a concept being considered for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024 .

In the area of sustainable travel, what are some of Accor’s priorities?

We recognise travellers want to leave as little a footprint as possible, and we have ambitious sustainability goals: for full plastic eradication, carbon reduction in our operations and reducing food wastage. We’re working to reduce emissions by 46% to reach net zero by 2050. To minimise food waste, partnering with Too Good To Go; most of our unconsumed food is sold at a low price, provided storage conditions were respected. Also, the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe has committed to reducing food waste by implementing the Winnow solution. It’s now possible to precisely measure the weight of food waste and identify the most efficient mechanisms for reducing future waste and associated negative impacts.
