Adaptive cruise control supplements conventional cruise control with an active vehicle-to-vehicle distance control feature. Designed for use on freeways and express ways, in vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, your car automatically accelerates or decelerates in order to maintain a preset following distance from the vehicle traveling directly ahead of you.

To activate the system, press the "ON/OFF" button at the end of the stalk on the lower end of the right side of the steering wheel. The radar-ready indicator will appear in the Multi Information Display.

Accelerate or decelerate to your intended speed, then press the stalk down to set it. If you want to go faster, push the stalk upward and hold until you've reached the desired speed and then release it. Or, if you want to slow down, push the stalk down and hold as you decelerate, then release it once you've reached the desired speed.

To cancel cruise control, tap the brakes, pull the stalk towards you or turn the system off with the ON/OFF button.

Adaptive Cruise Control was designed to maintain the preset distance between your car and the car driving in the same lane directly ahead of you.

When it’s active, it automatically adjusts for changes in the speed of the vehicle traveling directly ahead of you in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle distance you set.

In the event that you would like to change the preset distance between vehicles, you can do so by using the radar range button located on the lower right side of the steering wheel. Simply press the button repeatedly to cycle through the ranges available. You'll find them displayed on the Multi Information Display. And finally, you can disable the distance holding feature by pushing the cruise control stalk away and holding it until the indicator disappears and the conventional cruise control indicator lights up.

Not all features are available on all vehicles and model grades. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details and important safety information.

FEIG ELECTRONIC: Moscow-City Skyscrapers Streamline Parking Access and Control with Secure RFID

Feig electronic partners with isbc group to deploy ucode dna rfid security and parking access control solution in moscow business district.

Weilburg, Germany  — December 3,  2019  —  FEIG ELECTRONIC , a leading global supplier of radio frequency identification (RFID) readers and antennas with fifty years of industry experience, announces deployment of the UCODE DNA RFID security and parking contactless identification solution in the Moscow International Business Center, known as Moscow-City, one of the world’s largest business district projects.

The management of Moscow-City not only selected long-range, passive UHF RFID to implement in its controlled parking areas, it also chose to implement UCODE DNA , the highest form of secure RAIN RFID technology, developed by NXP Semiconductors.

“Underscoring NXP’s innovation and leadership in developing advanced RAIN RFID technologies, our UCODE DNA was chosen to be incorporated with the FEIG and ISBC implementation of the contactless identification system in the prestigious Moscow-City,” said Mahdi Mekic, marketing director for RAIN RFID with NXP Semiconductors. “This exciting project represents yet another successful deployment of NXP’s contactless portfolio, and showcases our continued ability to meet the high-security requirements of highly demanding applications without compromising user convenience.”

“UCODE DNA is considered the only identification technology to match the physical protection of a barrier with the cybersecurity necessary to truly protect entrances from unauthorized access,” said Manuel Haertlé, senior product manager for FEIG Electronic. “As a respected contactless payment technology company, FEIG applies security know-how from its payment terminals, which are fully certified according to the latest high-class security standards, into our RFID systems. FEIG vehicle access control RFID readers incorporate advanced secure key storage elements, supporting various methods for secure key injection.”

FEIG’s partner ISBC Group provided the knowledge and support for this successful implementation using  FEIG’s long-range UHF RFID . The resulting system enables authorized vehicle entry into areas reserved for private residential use or corporate tenants, while also allowing availability of temporary, fee-based visitor parking. Thanks to the cryptographic authentication of UCODE DNA, both the tag and reader must go through an authentication procedure before the reader will validate the data from the tag, which is transmitted wirelessly. This level of authentication is typically used in the most secure data communication networks.

“The system’s two-step authentication means that only authorized equipment can handle the secure protocol and the data exchange with the UCODE DNA based tag. Without the required cryptographic secrets, other readers would query the tag in vain, because the tag’s response cannot be interpreted or understood,” said Andrey Krasovskiy, director of the RFID department at ISBC Group. “On top of this, each data exchange in the authentication process is unique, so even if a malicious actor were to intercept the communication, the transmission is only good for a single exchange and the tag’s unique identity is protected from cloning.”

Established in 1992 and still growing, Moscow-City is the revitalization and transformation of an industrial riverfront into a new, modern, vibrant and upscale business and residential district. A mix of residential, hotel, office, retail and entertainment facilities, it is located about four kilometers west of Red Square along the Moscow River. Twelve of the twenty-three planned facilities have already been completed, with seven currently under construction. Six skyscrapers in Moscow-City reach a height of at least 300 meters, including Europe’s tallest building, Federation Tower, which rises more than 100 stories.

Partnering with ISBC and deploying FEIG Electronic RFID solutions, the Moscow International Business Center is delivering security and access control to its city center today, as it grows into the city of tomorrow.

Very easy to install

Posted by Kirk on 26th Jun 2019

I was surprised how easy this was to install in a 2012 Prius. I did not need the additional wiring, so it would be nice if you could just buy the prius kit and not have extra wiring. I actually thought I did something wrong cause I did not need the wiring. Other than that, I used the video on this page and in about 30 mins I had cruise control installed. Hardest part was the battery. The actual install is very simple.

Not The Onion: Moscow Bans Gay Pride for Next 100 years

gay protest moscow.jpg

Human Rights First is already out with its condemnation :

Human Rights First condemns the Tverskoy District Court ruling to uphold the decision of Moscow authorities to ban gay pride parades in the city until May 2112. The Moscow City Hall has banned such events for seven consecutive years, citing numerous letters from public officials, religious organizations, and private citizens urging the authorities to prohibit a demonstration. The European Court of Human Rights pronounced these bans illegal in October 2010. (photo credit: Reuters) "This unprecedented ban is not entirely surprising, but Russia's society is evolving at a pace not even Vladimir Putin can control," said Human Rights First's Innokenty Grekov.  "More people are becoming accepting and tolerant to LGBTI persons. The 100-year ban, along with the discriminatory laws prohibiting "promotion of homosexuality" that are spreading through local legislatures, show that the Russian government remains behind the times."

Putin better go back and study up on the Hegelian dialectic.  It's hard to imagine a more animating event than a 100-year ban to throw at gays, their families and friends, and believers in democracy than such an absurd and comic ban.

I can see the G8 meeting protest rallies, the UN General Assembly events, the websites taunting Putin and his judges, and more.  The gay crowd will harrass and torment and undermine and prevail over those trying to repress them.  This ban is a gift.

This may become one of my favorite new causes as well.  Russia -- strategically important, a key member of the UN P-5, a country America must work with on challenges ranging from Iran to Syria to global oil and energy issues, with a steady and mostly sensible foreign minister -- is increasingly becoming a farce among nations, its seriousness dissolving with idiotic gestures like this gay ban.

Cruise Control Wouldn't Turn on?

Discussion in ' Gen 2 Prius Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting ' started by Friendlyx , Sep 14, 2017 .

Hey everyone, i have a Toyota Prius 2006, and i was driving about a 30 mile drive, and i tried to turn on the cruise control, however it wouldn't turn on, I kept pressing and the light never came on. I thought maybe it's the light that was just not working and tried to activate it and it wouldn't either. About half way through the trip, i thought i'll try it again and i did and it turned on and was working fine. Is there a reason why this happens? Thank you. You need to rule out clock spring cable and brake light switch. Brake light switch. Depress the brake pedal, the brake lights come on? Release the brake pedal, the brake lights go off? If yes to these two questions, your brake light switch is not the cause of the cruise control not working. Clock Spring Cable. Do the radio and AC steering wheel buttons work at all positions? A simple test is to park the car with the wheels pointing forward, and the steering wheel dead centered. Place a piece of tape at the very top of the steering wheel (this is your 12 o'clock position). Test all the steering wheel buttons (radio, AC, etc), at this 12 o'clock position. Do all the steering wheel button functions work? Move the steering wheel to 1 o'clock, and perform the steering wheel button test again. Go to 2 o'clock and test the buttons. Keep doing this at the other "hour" positions (3, 4, 5, 6), then go to 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6. A broken clock spring cable will reveal itself by intermittent operability of some or all the steering wheel buttons, at certain hour positions. This post has some good pictures of the clock spring cable and why a broken clock spring causes problems. 2006 Prius clock spring (spiral cable) repair | PriusChat If brake light switch and clock spring cable are working, it will be something else. But these two items are the most common culprits.

One way to get these symptoms is to shift to B. Unless you are braking, it is hard to notice you have. While in B you can't use Cruise.

exstudent said: ↑ 1) Drive in a continuous left handed circle, so the broken connection(s) in the clockspring are reestablished and maintained; impossible. 2) Attempt a repair, like the referenced thread in post #4 above; however, this is very short term. 3) Replace the defective clockspring with a Genuine OEM Toyota part; the best long term solution. Since you seem to lack the skills to do this repair, price shop independent shops and dealers on their labor rates. Ask for discounts (AAA, military, Costco membership program, etc). Remember these old proverbs: You get what you pay for. Penny wise, pound foolish. FAKE clocksprings are available on crapbay (ebay) for $8-$30. toyota prius clockspring | eBay Genuine OEM Toyota part costs $220.88 from Camelback Toyota; your original clockspring lasted 11, possibly 12 years (depending on your vehicle production date). 2007 Toyota Prius Parts - Camelback Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Parts - Free Shipping Many posts of people who were penny wise, pound foolish. Crapbay part failed soon after installation (~1year). Now these people have to redo their labor or pay for someone's labor AGAIN. The clockspring connects your steering wheel airbag to the SRS/Airbag ECUs. Read post #3, and decide for yourself, if your life is worth $8 or $220.88. Be careful of counterfeit Clocksprings / Spiral Cables sold online | PriusChat If you saw the pictures in the referenced thread in post #4, above, you will have seen that the clockspring cable is a few sheets of paper thick. As you know, nothing lasts forever. The car is a tough environment for things to function in: temperature fluctuations, road vibrations, and movement the part may directly experience. It should amaze you that the few sheets of paper thick, clockspring cable, lasts as long as it does. As for the stereo shop possible breaking the clockspring cable, ..., anything is possible. Ask yourself this, how likely is it that the stereo installer, turned the steering wheel all the way left, then all the way right, or visa versa, for a million/billion/trillion cycles, causing unnecessary wear on the clockspring cable? 5. How do I replace cruise control?

I can confirm that the cruise control can be added to a 2010 "Prius I" model by simply adding the Cruise Control switch. All you need is the switch, the 2 wire/connector and the two mounting screws. The part number is: 84632-08021 (w/o precrash) 84632-08011 (w/ precrash option) * Note: My research shows that either part number will work.

Early history (1147-1283) The first reference to Moscow dates from 1147 as a meeting place of Sviatoslav Olgovich and Yuri Dolgorukiy. At the time it was a minor town on the western border of Vladimir-Suzdal Principality. In 1156, Kniaz Yury Dolgoruky fortified the town with a timber fence and a moat.
