Here is a complete rundown of what you can expect on your waikiki sunset party cruise.

5:00 PM (Oct-Mar)

5:45 pm (apr-nov), (8:30 pm night tours), arrival at kewalo boat harbor.

Welcome aboard our state-of-the-art new boat!

Docked in the Kewalo Boat Harbor, our ship – Ariya II – has two decks, mood lighting, surround-sound, a Titanic-style bow and a bathroom onboard.

You will be asked to remove your shoes before boarding the boat. This is for your safety. We will have storage for you to place them in during your time onboard.

Crew Introductions and Safety Briefing

Filled with the Aloha Spirit, our “locally grown” crew members are all masters of the sea! Each is CPR, First-Aid and LifeSaver licensed. They will inform you how to stay safe on the boat.

We’ll check your ID before boarding. For Military and Hawaii residence (or Kamaaina ) you must show your military or Hawaii ID.

5:30 PM (Oct-Mar)

6:15 pm (apr-nov), (9:00 pm night tours), depart from the harbor.

Start the evening with a cheers with new friends. Get to know your new Ohana for the night while leaving the boat harbor. It’s time for a celebration at sea!

This was a great experience. This sail is very calm and relaxing and a completely different experience from the trade wind sails, where you expect to get tossed around and get wet. This is the best deal in Waikiki. Was there for a week and went on this cruise three times. ~$30 for one hour sail with open bar. So, you can sit in a hotel bar and nurse one drink or be on the ocean enjoying amazing views, listen to lively music and chug down multiple drinks. No brainer. Shout out to Dustin for the amazing sailing experience.

This was a total blast! The guys running the boat were friendly and entertaining. The sites were phenomenal. The sea life is gorgeous. And the drinks were very good. I booked a second trip, can’t wait to sale again!

CANCELLATION POLICY

Guests will receive a full refund only with a minimum 24-hour notice of cancellation. Full refunds are also issued in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

During the slower seasons and typically the morning sails, tour cancellations can occur due to a minimum requirement of 6 booked guests. In these rare situations, guests are always given the option to rebook or refund. If you are concerned about your tour, please call with any questions.

Guests wishing to rebook or reschedule must give 24 hours notice. Contact us by phone directly to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows and guests canceling within 24 hours of departure will be charged full price .*Groups of 20 or larger are required to give 72-hour notice to cancel or modify bookings.

Field Notes: Waikīkī’s Booze Cruises

Field notes explores honolulu's vibrant and varied scenes and subcultures. this month: the beachcat booze cruises of waikīkī. why should tourists have all the fun, tip: brisk trade winds are best for sailing off waikīkī. light kona winds bring on the sea sickness., what they are.

Commercial sailing catamarans that launch from and land on the half mile of Waikīkī’s shoreline between the statue of Duke Kahanamoku and Fort Derussy Beach Park. They’ve been a fixture in Waikīkī since 1947, when a surfer and boatbuilder named Woody Brown, inspired by the speed of traditional Polynesian double-hulled sailing canoes, launched the first modern beachcat. Imitators soon followed. Booze has been a feature since the beginning. Of the current crop of boats, some have built-in bars and the rest either carry well-stocked coolers or are BYOB.

Mostly tourists, but there are also kamaaina who have determined that $20 to $30 for a relaxing 90 minutes under sail is not a bad deal, especially with the complimentary bar service some boats offer. The local residents include special-occasion passengers, who come in groups to celebrate birthdays, weddings and graduations. There are also regulars, who return to their favorite boat time after time, sometimes taking multiple, back-to-back trips, and spending less than they would had they put an equal amount of time into a landlocked bar.

THE BOOZIEST

The Na Hoku II (on the beach at the Moana Surfrider hotel) and its sister vessel, the Manu Kai (in front of Duke’s Bar and Grill) have well-deserved reputations as the two hardest partying boats. They both carry 49 passengers, they’ve both got open bars, and they both accomodate impromptu dancing and screaming.

THE CHILLEST

The laid-back crew aboard the 37-passenger Kepoikai II (on the beach at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel) sells beer and mai tais. But otherwise, they more or less keep to themselves and sail the boat.

THE FASTEST

Both the 47-passenger Maitai Catamaran (between the Halekulani and the Sheraton Waikīkī hotels) and the 49-passenger Waikīkī Rigger (next to the Shore Bird Restaurant and Beach Bar) claim to be the fastest catamaran on Waikīkī Beach. The Rigger, which was built for ocean racing and won the Los Angeles-to-Honolulu Transpac race in 1987, has solid credentials. But the Maitai’s no slouch. As the two boats often leave the beach at the same time and sail the same course, they inevitably end up racing, with passengers becoming unwitting participants in their ongoing competition to determine which is the fastest boat on that particular day.

THE MOST ROMANTIC

The Maitai does a “moonlight cruise” every Friday evening, when the fireworks are exploding over Waikīkī.

Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand, Waikīkī’s landmark gay bar, takes over the Maitai every Saturday afternoon for “Hula’s wettest, wildest, half-naked ride!”

THE MOST IMPECCABLY PEDIGREED

The 26-passenger Mana Kai (near the Duke statue) has Woody Brown DNA: it’s similar in design to Brown’s original beachcat, and its captain is Woody Brown Jr. As a BYOB boat, it’s more about the sightseeing and sailing than the party.

The Holokai is a beautiful, custom-designed, handcrafted 49 passenger beach catamaran. She was commissioned and splashed in 2015. Holokai is equipped with spacious seating, netted splash area, Bluetooth sound system and a clean and comfortable bathroom. Our professional, fun and accommodating captains and crew are on hand to provide 5-star service and the most memorable experience on the waters of Waikiki!

We have a bar on board with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Awesome experience.

We had a great time at the turtle canyon morning snorkel tour. The crew was super friendly and helpful and it was very safe, even you had never snorkeled before you could enjoy this. We saw half a dozen different turtles, surfacing and all. Awesome experience.

• Waikiki Parking Recommendation: Paid parking is available at Outrigger Waikiki/Duke's Valet, the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre Parkade, or the International Market Place. Parking validation is NOT available.

• As this cruise departs directly from the beach, you may get wet or have to wade through water to get on or off the vessel.
• The catamaran departs throughout the day and may not have returned at the time of your check-in. Please wait at the Ke Kai sign on the beach, and the boat will arrive shortly.
• On rare days of extreme surf and dangerous shore break, we will operate out of our alternate location at Kewalo Basin Harbor (1125 Ala Moana Blvd). Our agents will notify you for this circumstance and offer different options to accommodate the change in location.
• If you are driving on your own, you will be required to pay a parking fee. Please secure your parking ahead of time and allow enough time to arrive in time for your check-in, 30 minutes prior to departure.
• Infant life jackets are not provided, and only available for guests 2 years old and above. Guests with infants are welcome to bring their own infant-sized life jacket.
• Although this sail is open for all ages, due to the fact that alcohol is served and the sail is considered a "booze cruise," this activity may not be appropriate for children. Please use your best judgment when booking.

Required items to bring & attire

• All guests must be at least 21 years old with a valid government issued photo ID to consume any alcoholic beverages. Guests with questionable forms of identification may be required to show a secondary photo I.D. with a birth date.
• Guests who are prone to seasickness should take a motion sickness preventative one hour prior to departure.

It can get very chilly.. be careful with the splash zone as well! Overall, the view was fantastic! We saw a full rainbow and everyone was all vibing together, enjoying the scenery. All of the members were very helpful an ... d entertaining, they made sure everyone was having a great time. Drinks were pretty good, definitely hold onto your drinks, this booze cruise can get rocky!

I highly recommend this cruise! This is the 2nd time we’ve done it and it is always a great time. The crew is awesome and the drinks are great. Watching the sunset from the katamaran is just gorgeous! Great price! Just d ... o it!

We have taken the sunset booze cruise several times in Hawaii. We enjoy it thoroughly… We love how the crew engages everyone and wants everyone to have a great time! We will book this again next time we come to Oahu!
