Discover Florida’s friendly dolphins on our two-hour Pensacola Bay cruise! Chase-n-Fins is a 50-ft. twin diesel Navy Launch converted into a cruise ship certified for 49 passengers. With plenty of open deck space, passengers can move about for the perfect photo or take advantage of the shaded area.

Chase-n-Fins is staffed by our welcoming crew. They’ll teach you everything you need to know about dolphins and local marine life as well as important Pensacola beach landmarks. Of course there’s nothing better than letting the dolphins entertain you in their natural environment. So, bring the whole family on a cruise you will remember long after your vacation ends. We booked a private cruise to see dolphins and the Blue Angels practice, and it was a wonderful experience! Our captain, Paul, was very friendly and informative as we cruised around the bay. He asked for our preferences on how we would like to watch the Blue Angels practice. We beached on a cool sandbar where we had an amazing view of the practice. We had the option of swimming or wading in the water while we watched, we could watch from the boat, or we could climb on top of the sandbar for the best view. Our captain worked hard to find dolphins, and we saw them in several locations! We also saw a crab swimming along, and Paul was able to pull it into the boat to show the crab to us before putting him back in the water. Mike was informative along the cruise, telling details of the dolphins (OH - so MANY dolphins!), what kind they were, their habits, etc. When asked about buildings, houses, in the distance, he knew all the answers. We went out for about an hour, docked on the sandy beach of an island, and we got off the Jolly Dolphin. We climbed a sandy hillside to the top, to watch the blue angels. Some people brought beach chairs along and sat in them, and didn't climb all the way to the top. There were gently sloping ways to get to the top, it was not a difficult climb. Some brought towels to sit on, and also brought coolers. A couple of people simply stayed on the boat to watch. The boat was completely covered on top so we were protected from the weather elements. It was however a comfortable sunny day. The practice lasted for about 50 minutes and was indescribably awesome. We boarded the boat and made our way back to the dock. The music was completely enjoyable, and the captain even took requests for songs. I can't say how well-worth the money was spent. Fun in the Sun is owned and operated by a group of the best fishing guides in Pensacola. When you climb aboard with one of our captains you are in the hands of someone with extensive experience and someone who knows the area and local waters as well as anyone. Our goal is for you to have a fun and exciting time while on our boats. With that being said we basically tailor each trip around what you and your family or friends want to do. All of our trips are private cruises with a designated captain provided. Sights include The National Seashore, Fort Pickens , Pensacola Lighthouse, Fort McRae , Pensacola NAS and the Gulf Breeze Peninsula. You typically will encounter dolphin, ospreys, pelicans, cormorants , skimmers and herons . Eagle sightings are possible , especially during the colder months ( November – April ) Turtle , shark and sting ray sightings are more common in the warmer periods. On occasion we encounter manatees during summer/fall which are typically found in more southern waters. Schools of fish feeding on the surface aren also common during from spring through fall.

My wife and children were dying to go on one of the dolphin tours,but I was not interested in being on a boat with fifty other tourist, so we opted for a private trip. The fam saw all of the dolphins they cared to and I was able to enjoy my beers in peace.

We did the two hour Pensacola Bay adventure and it was an absolute blast. We departed from Portofino and went to sand island near Pensacola Pass where the kids played on the giant sand hills.

What a Blast! Our captain picked us up in Pensacola within walking distance of our hotel and took us to the Florabama for some frosty adult beverages. Sight seeing on the way was awesome, a beautiful body of water.

The visit Destin tour is awesome, but be prepared for some riding time. We opted to visit Crab Island for some swimming and playing in the water instead of going to the boardwalk and it was a great decision.

My wife and I did the private Pensacola Bay boat ride while we were visiting Pensacola Beach on our anniversary vacation and it was great. We ask if we could go later and it was not a problem, we went at sunset and the captain took us to a private beach.

We took a wonderful 2 hour boat ride with Captain Bob! We saw a shark, several dolphins, some birds with their babies in their nest, and some cool landmarks! Our tour guide was friendly and helpful with tips on things to see and do.

Amazing boat, amazing crew! I'm quite sure this is the best pick of all the dolphin tours offered. You can sit indoors or out front or on the back, or upper deck. This is not a pontoon. Ally and Captain Steve were great. It was my 6 year old son’s first time on a boat and Ally was amazing with him. So many dolphins and a beautiful sunset.

Rented a pontoon outboard 1:00 to 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon. We were initially booked for Friday. Just to begin the excellent customer service, Dee contacted us Thursday to let us know Friday was showing a wind advisory and offered to rebook us for the next day. The boat was clean and in fantastic condition. Ally gave us a great orientation and showed us some nice secluded beaches on our map which were about a 40 minute cruise from the marina. That path (west) put us on a couple pods of dolphins too. Great afternoon. Highly recommend this company.

Had a great time on the tour. Got to see the dolphins up close. Staff is very friendly, especially Ally. She let the children come closer to get a better look and educated them on dolphin facts. Cap Steve did a great job as well keeping passengers engaged. Definitely worth the money.

My husband and I had our 6 and 12 year old with us. I’d say that the cruise is for all ages. Ally and I believe Riley were our guides and they were very personable and funny! My son was wearing a jaws shirt and we got to learn about the Jaws movie set. They even recommended local places to eat. It was all around a great time and we will be back❤️

This was our 3rd time to see the dolphins with Frisky Mermaid. They communicate with other boats to know where the dolphins are. Staff seems to love what do. We will always do this when at the beach.

We had the best time!!! The staff was super friendly and had the passengers laughing & enjoying their time, the entire time! We saw several dolphins & the ride lasted the full two hours. 10/10 recommend! We saw another dolphin tour boat out in the water where we were & I am so glad I didn’t choose that one. There was hardly anywhere to sit on that boat and didn’t seem as entertaining. The Frisky Mermaid boat had a snack & beverage shop, a lower level, & upper level. Things to know: - you can bring a towel per the website; however, I don’t think anyone got wet. It was a smooth ride. - they sold water, cokes, sprite, etc., as well as chips, cookies, popcorn, candy, etc. and we bought 3 drinks & 2 snacks for $13. Super reasonable prices

Captain Riley and Captain Jen was the absolute best. We booked a sunset tour then booked the next morning before getting off the boat! They was absolutely fantastic and both was so funny. The atmosphere was just great. We will definitely be booking again along with other things they offer!! If you are thinking or considering this, DO IT!!

Great experience! Jen and Riley were awesome! So funny and inviting! As soon as we boarded we were provided with life jackets for the kiddos and were informed about all safety precautions. They are very accommodating to make sure ALL ages are safely able to enjoy this trip. They informed us on cool historical places we passed by and interesting things we can do in the area. When we found dolphins, they made sure to circle back so everyone on the boat had a chance to see the dolphins from all different sides of the boat. They did great at making sure EVERYONE was comfortable, even had snacks and drinks available to purchase, and got to all have the same amazing experience! If y’all are in the area or have kids this is an awesome experience! Definitely will be participating again!

We offer several dolphin cruise trips for your enjoyment. Currently we offer a 2 hour dolphin cruise and a 3 hour Blue Angels cruise with a beach stop on the Happy Hour. Our dolphin cruises are fun for kids of all ages, 0 to 100. Everyone will have a fantastic time!

We will cruise through Pensacola Bay and out to the Pensacola pass. We regularly see other marine life, in addition to dolphins, while out. We also pass by the National Seashore, Pensacola Light House, Fort Pickens and the Pensacola Navy Base.

We'll tell you all we know about dolphins, other Pensacola Beach marine life and the many landmarks you're seeing as you ride along. There is also a restroom onboard.

On most Pensacola Beach Dolphin Cruises, life jackets and bottles of water are complimentary.

However, to ensure the most comfortable and enjoyable tour possible, below is a short list of items are great to pack along for the ride:

Go Pro / Camera

You’ll want to capture the amazing wildlife you encounter on your dolphin cruise Pensacola Beach tour!

It’s best to bring a GoPro or a camera that can capture high-speed moments accurately and clearly.

Since you’ll be around water, don’t forget to put your camera gear into a protective waterproof case.

There are a number of companies that make waterproof casings for both Go-Pros and many DSLR and digital cameras.

When not actively using your equipment, place them into a camera bag or backpack for safekeeping.

If there’s one item you shouldn’t leave your hotel without for this tour (other than sunscreen), it’s sunglasses.

The rays of the sun in Florida are more intense than in most other states.

Many of these tours are customizable and are taken in the morning or afternoon hours when the dolphins are most active for feeding.

You can book small group or even private sailing adventures, as well as jet ski dolphin excursions, and larger cruise boats for larger groups. 

Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier

You can stroll out onto the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier with the purchase of an “observer’s” ticket.

The pier in its entirety spans 1,470 feet out over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

This makes it a prime spot for viewing wildlife, including dolphins!

You will enjoy a bird’s eye view of dolphins feeding, hunting, and even playing with their young during certain times of the year.

The constant presence of dolphins is mostly due to the many anglers that come to try their rods at fishing.

Perdido Key

Just 25 miles south of Pensacola, the barrier island of Perdido Key is a great alternative for dolphin watching.

These include Perdido Key State Park, Gulf Islands National Seashore, and Big Lagoon State Park.

If you’re looking for an all encompassing land and sea adventure, be sure to check out the 8.5-mile Footprints in the Sand Eco-Trail.

Running from shore to shore, the trail showcases 29 stops across Pensacola Beach to educate visitors about conservation and the island’s unique ecology.

It’s a great place to walk, bike, drive, run and even swim!

Each stop tells a story about the region’s sea life and flora, and provides pictures and maps as a guide.

The entire trail is a great place for bird-spotting or looking for sea turtle nests and hatchlings (emphasis on looking and not touching!)

You can also learn about the different species of dolphins that inhabit the coastal waters at each stop, or take a dolphin cruise along the eco-trail’s coastline.

Regardless of how you enjoy the trail, take note of its namesake and leave only footprints behind.

Can You Swim With Dolphins In Pensacola Florida?

One of the only ways to responsibly swim with bottlenose dolphins is under professional supervision in a controlled environment.

A great place near Pensacola to do just that is at The Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach.

It is here that you can have the experience of a lifetime with the Gulfarium’s VIP “Trainer for a Day” adventure.

This experience is tailor made for people ages 13 and up and includes a fully-immersive day-long crash course in what it takes to be a bonafide marine mammal trainer.

You’ll work side-by-side with a trainer to learn about dolphin behavior, biology, and their special relationships with humans.

If you encounter a Bottlenose Dolphin in the wild, don’t approach, pursue, touch, or interact with it.

Dolphins are extremely friendly and social animals, but physical interaction in the wild can lead to injury or transfer of disease.

What Is The Best Time Of Day To See Dolphins In Pensacola?

The best time to spot dolphins in the wild is any time the water traffic is low.

When there are fewer boats and people out on the water, dolphins come out to feed and play.

This is usually in the early morning hours, between 10 am and noon , and at dusk (after sunset).

When booking a dolphin cruise, you will likely get to choose from a 10am, noon, 3:00pm, or 6:00pm departure for this reason.

Even if you don’t have a boat, you can see plenty of dolphins from land on a beach next to Perdido Bay at the time mentioned above.

Regardless of the day of day you set out to spot dolphins, remember to always bring your Gopro and your DSLR with a telephoto lens and a waterproof case for each!

What Is The Best Month To See Dolphins In Florida?

You will likely see dolphins in the Pensacola Beach region any month of the year.

However, their populations are largest in spring and summer, from late May through early August (spring and summer).

When searching for dolphins either from a boat or land, there are a number of tell-tale signs of their presence.

Look for seagulls circling above a particular spot, oily slicks (footprints), wave crests or waves moving in the ‘wrong’ direction, splashes, and exposed tail fins or dorsal fins.

Dolphins are also very vocal mammals, so listen for chirps or long periods of whistles or clicks.

Witness the Blue Angels’ Flight Demonstration

From the end of March through October, the U.S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the world-famous Blue Angels, practice in the skies of their home base of Pensacola. The practices are typically scheduled at 10:30 a.m on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, taking off from Pensacola Naval Air Station, near the National Naval Aviation Museum.

The Blue Angels fly over the waters of Pensacola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, offering an excellent view to boaters. Our cruise stops at Fort McRee Beach, or Sand Island (a 40-foot sand dune island), from which you can watch the Blues up close and personal. If you’ve never seen a Blue Angels show performance, here’s your chance.

Skip the crowds and the drive across town when you join us for a unique view of the show. Blues cruises depart at 9:30 a.m. and are about three hours long. Along the way, we look for dolphins and other wildlife.
