Dua For Car

Dua For Car (Dua For Traveling in Car) in Arabic and English

' data-src=

For many people, a car is an essential part of their daily lives. It helps them commute to work, run errands, and transport themselves and their loved ones safely.

One way to show your gratitude and seek protection for your vehicle is through dua or supplication. Dua for car is a powerful way to seek Allah’s blessings and protection for your car, ensuring safe travels and protection against accidents or mishaps.

Dua For Traveling in Car

The du for traveling in a car in Arabic text is:

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

Subhaanal-lathee sakhkhara lanaa haathaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen. Wa ‘innaa ‘ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon.

Meaning In English

Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our effort). And verily, to our Lord we indeed are to return.

Dua For Traveling in Car

Whenever the Prophet SAW mounted his beast to set out on a journey, he would recite some words of remembrance.

The first thing that quickly comes to mind is that one should say: ‘ Praise is to Allah, the one who subjected this to us ,’

It is ordered to say: “ Subhanahu (Glory to Him ),” because this absolves Allah of any imperfection or defect.

When man mounts the ships and beasts, he realizes how depedent he is on them to fulfil his need.

So, he glorifies Allah, the Honored and Glorious, Who is Self-Sufficient and Independent of any of His creatures. Glorification is more appropriate in this situation.

Although there is evidence in the Sunnah to praise Allah in this situation, we are discussing this verse at the moment:

“ Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us and we could never have it (by our efforts ),” That is, we could not have overpowered it had not Allah subdued it to us.

This statement is a truly significant one. When man mounts these subdued beasts or ship on a journey, it brings about remembrance of the terminal journey from this world.

This is the journey of man to Allah, Honored and Glorious, when he dies, being carried by people on their necks.

So, he remembers: “ And verily to our Lord we indeed are to return ,” That is, to the Honored and Glorious.

Therefore, it is necessary for a person to recite this word of remembrance when he boards a car or an aeroplane.

Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that whenever Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) mounted his camel while setting out on a journey, he glorified Allah (uttered Allah-o-Akbar) thrice, and then said:

Glory be to Him who has made this subservient to us, for we have no power over it ourselves, and to our Lord we shall return. O Allah, we ask You during this journey for righteousness, fear of Your, and deeds that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and make the distance short for us. O Allah, You are our companion during the journey and the guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, ugly scenes, and an evil return to our property and family.

Dua For Car (New)

Allahumma innee as’aluka khayrahaa, wa khayra maa jabaltahaa ‛alayhi, wa a‛oodhu bika min sharrihaa, wa sharri maa jabaltahaa ‛alayh.

Translation

The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If you buy a camel, then you should take hold of it’s hump and say,

“O Allah, I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness that you have made her inclined towards, and I seek refuge with You from the evil within her and the evil that you have made her inclined towards.”

Sources: Abu Dawud No# 2160 ; Ibn Majah No# 2252

Dua For Car

Scholars such as Al-Albani said that the same du’a can be said when buying a car as the purpose and the goodness and evil of it are the same as a riding animal (see commentary in the etiquettes of Marriage p93)

The car, and similar vehicles in which people ride, is a creation of Allah, just like animals.

Undoubtedly, the owner hopes for the good that comes from it and fears the evil that may arise. Therefore, he should ask Allah for its goodness and seek refuge in Him from its harm.

Furthermore, the car is similar to a camel or a donkey in terms of its use as a means of transportation.

All of them are hoped to bring good and feared to bring harm. Therefore, this supplication can be recited upon buying a new car.

Dua For Stopping Over Hotel

The supplication of the traveler

Whenever he supplicates to Allah to ease his journey or any other supplication, Allah, the most High, responds to his request.

Thus, it is necessary to always seize the opportunity of supplicating on journeys. When the journey is in obedience to Allah such as Umrah and Hajj, then the possibility and strength of response increases.

The traveler is detached from his homeland, and he remains a traveler till he returns to it (i.e. his homeland). The supplication of a traveler usually is that of one in need.

Whenever a person is in need and supplicates to his Lord, his prayer will most likely be answered. This is because Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, responds to the supplication of the one in difficult situation and the supplication of the one in need more than the supplications of others.

According to an authentic Hadith, three supplications which are answered without doubt:

  • 1. The supplication of the oppressed;
  • 2. The supplication of the traveler; and
  • 3. The supplication of a parent.

Also, a person should seek refuge from the hardships of travelling, unhappiness connected with ghastly scenes and evil turns in property and family.

He should also seek refuge from the supplication of the oppressed, ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.

Sheik Ibn Uthaimeen said that to make this remembrance in the exact wordings narrated from the Prophet It is best and preferred.

Otherwise, one may supplicate with any easy words if it is impossible to remember the exact wordings.

Translation: Far removed from imperfection is the One Who has made this subservient to us, for we have no power to subjugate it, and certainly to our Rubb shall we return. O Allah, we ask You during this journey of ours for righteousness, piety and such deeds as are pleasing to You. O Allah, make easy for us this journey of ours and make the distance short for us. O Allah, You are our Companion during the journey and the Guardian of the family and the property in our absence. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travelling, unhappiness connected with ghastly scenes and evil turns in property and family.”

When The Prophet (ﷺ) returned, he recited this supplication making addition of these words:

“We are those who return; those who repent; those who worship and those who praise our Rubb.”

Conclusion

Traveling’s a trip, right? New places, new faces…but it can be scary too. Muslims say duas before setting off. It’s about asking Allah to watch over us, and help things go smoothly. Kinda like a pep talk from God, you know? Doesn’t matter if you’re flying or driving, it’s something Muslims have done forever. Makes you feel less alone out there. Also, read duas for waking up and sleeping.

A List of Best Dua for Safar (Travelling) With Transliteration & Meaning

Dua for Safar

The word Safar derives from the Arabic wordسفر, which refers to travelling, journey, tour, etc. Travelling is considered an opportunity to explore the world, seek knowledge, and engage in trade or business. Islam encourages going on a journey as long as it is done safely and lawfully.

Allah’s Messenger ﷺ teaches us several dua for Safar to make our journey safer in-sha-Allah. The main reasons for reciting traveling dua are seeking Allah’s guidance, blessings, and protection before starting the journey. So, every Muslim should say these duas as sunnah practices. Let’s reveal the essential duas for transportation.

List of Dua for Safe Travel

There are numerous Safar dua mentioned in Quran and hadith. You will find most of these dua in the Hisnul Muslim app . However, considering the importance of supplications of travelling, we’re publishing these duas in one article.

Praying Two Raka’h Before Leaving Home

Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said to pray two raka’h Sunnah prayers before you start the journey. The following hadith supports it.

“When you leave your house, perform two raka’h and this will safeguard you against evil. When you enter your home, perform another two raka’h, and this will safeguard you against evil.” [Musnad Al-Bazzar]

You can perform this Salah by adding any sura with sura Fatihah. But, in the book of Al-Majmu’ Imam Nawawi mentioned reciting sura Al-Kafirun and sura Al-Ikhlas with sura Fatihah in the first and second raka’h respectively.

Supplication After Leaving the House

Anas bin Malik (RA) reported that, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever says (upon leaving his house), this Dua it will be said to him: ‘You have been sufficed and protected, and the devil will go far away from him. [Jami At-Tirmidhi]

Dua When Ascending or Descending

Ibn ‘Umar (RA) reported: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ and his army ascended a height, they would proclaim: “Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest),” and when they climbed down, they would proclaim: “Subhan Allah (Allah is free from imperfection).” [Riyah As Salihin]

Dua When Experiencing Difficulties During Travel

During the journey time, you may face different kinds of difficulties. In those cases, it’s recommended to seek Allah’s forgiveness by saying ‘Istigfar’ (Astaghfirullah). You can also do other Dhikr, even pray Salah, and make sincere Dua to Allah to seek Allah’s mercy.

Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) reported that Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever increases his prayers for forgiveness (i.e. Astaghfirullah), Allah will grant him relief from every worry, a way out from every hardship, and provide for him in ways he does not expect.” [Musnad Ahmad]

Allah’s Messenger ﷺ mentions the significance of making dua during travelling in the following hadith,

Prayer of the Traveler as Dawn Approaches

Suhayb (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ did not enter or see any village without saying the following dua

Suhaib (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ would say upon looking at the place (town/village) he wishes to enter:

Meaning: O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all that they envelope, Lord of the seven earths and all that they carry, Lord of the devils and all whom they misguide, Lord of the winds and all whom they whisk away. I ask You for the goodness of this village, the goodness of its inhabitants, and for all the goodness found within it, and I take refuge with You from the evil of this village, the evil of its inhabitants, and from all the evil found within it.

[Mustadrak Al-Hakim]

Supplication Upon Returning Home

Transliteration: Ayibun, ta’ibun, ‘abidun, liRabbina hamidun

Meaning: We return, in repentant, worshipping, and praising our Lord

Dhikr of Return from Travel

When the Prophet ﷺ returned from a battle or Hajj, he used to say three times:

Then he ﷺ said,

Transliteration: La ila-ha illallah-hu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wahua ‘ala kulli shai’in qadir, a-ibuna, ta-ibuna, ‘a-biduna, li rabbina ha-midoon. Sadaqballa-hu wa’dahu, wa nasara ‘abdahu wa hazamal ahzaba wahdahu

Meaning: There is no God except Allah alone, He has no partner; His is the kingdom, all the praise; And He has power over all things. We are returners, penitents, worshipers and praisers of our Lord. Allah has fulfilled His promise, He has helped His servants, and He alone has defeated all the opposing factions.

[Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim]

Prayer Upon Returning Home

After returning home, it’s Sunnah to pray two raka’h Salah.

“When you leave your house, perform two raka’h and this will safeguard you against evil. When you enter your home, perform another two raka’h and this will safeguard you against evil.” [Musnad Al-Bazzar]

Travelling is a necessary part of life. As Muslims, we should follow the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ during Safar. You may be confused to see lots of dua in the list. Actually, Allah’s Messenger ﷺ used to say different dua during travelling. But you can start with some basic ones. And try to memorize and practice more duas as much as you can. May Allah makes our journeys safer, Ameen.

Islam is a comprehensive religion that covers all spheres of life. In addition to the five obligatory prayers, Allah has commanded us to seek His blessings and guidance before undertaking any action. For instance, we must seek Allah’s protection from any harm during travelling by reciting Dua for Travelling .

Whether we travel by car, train, or airplane, we must recite certain Duas before starting our journey . Of course, we plan ahead of time, but no one is certain how our plan progresses or ends. Therefore, Muslims must seek Allah’s direction and assistance to reach their destinations safely and return home to their family. While you do so, opt for Dua Travels to maximize your experience.

Islam allows all Muslims to travel when the intentions are for the right purpose. While reciting  Dua for travelling , Muslims must firmly believe in Allah (SWT) and His blessings. He is the only one who has the power to protect us from unfortunate events like accidents and the harm of travelling. Let us explore some of the most beneficial as we must recite before and during the journey.

What Does the Holy Quran Say about Travelling?

Holy Quran, the sacred scripture, is the book of wisdom that teaches man the purpose of life and guides Muslims on the right way to lead their lives. The Islamic Holy Book covers all aspects of life and directs Muslims to success in this world and hereafter. According to the Quran, this world is temporary, and human beings are in a constant state of Travel. However, Allah (SWT) also mentions physical travelling several times.

In the Quran, ‘sayyir’ refers to the one who travels. The word sayir literally means to move or travel. Allah (SWT) used this word 27 times in the Quran in several expressions, including “Do Travel,” “Do they not Travel,” and “Tell them to Travel.”

Do they then not travel through the Earth, so that their minds gain wisdom and their ears thus learn to hear? 22:46

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also emphasized travelling. He told the believers that travelling is a great way to expand their horizons and seek knowledge. In one instance, he said

“Keep  to  travelling by night  because the earth is folded (traversed more easily) during the  night .” [Abu Dawud].

Dua Before Travelling

Shariah recommends to off 2 rakaat nawafil before starting travel. It is because the Holy Prophet (PBUH) performed this task before going on any journey. You can get the confirmation of this practice from the following hadith.

Dua Before Travelling

“When you leave your house, perform two raka’at and this will safeguard you against evil. When you enter your home, perform another two raka’at and this will safeguard you against evil.”

(Musnad Al-Bazzar)

O Allah I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, a sight of grief, and from an unfortunate occurrence in wealth and family.

The Quran clearly stated the Dua for safe Travel regardless of the mode of transport. The following Dua for Travelling is recited to seek Allah’s protection and safety throughout the journey.

Dua For Travelling

Traveling is a frequent part of life for many individuals, be it for leisure, business, or fulfilling religious obligations like Hajj or Umrah. Despite its commonality, the uncertainties that can accompany travel are ever-present. In such moments, it’s crucial to remember the significance of dua and the profound impact it can have in ensuring safe and secure journeys.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of dua in all aspects of life, including travelling. It is narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said; “Three supplications are answered without a doubt: The supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveler, and the supplication of the parent for his son.” This hadith highlights the special status of the dua made by a traveler and the certainty of its acceptance.

When embarking on a journey, it is essential to remember the guidance provided by the Sunnah regarding dua for travelling. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught specific supplications to be recited before and during the journey to seek the protection and blessings of Allah.

One such dua for travelling is as follows:

Arabic: سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ. Transliteration: Subhana-alladhi sakh-khara la-na hadha wa ma kunna la-hu muqrinin. Wa inna ila Rabbi-na la munqalibun. Translation: “Glory unto Him who created this transportation, for us, though we were unable to create it on our own. And unto our Lord we shall return.”

This powerful dua encompasses the traveler’s plea for protection, guidance, and ease during their journey. It reflects the humility and reliance on Allah that is ingrained in the practice of dua in Islam. Reciting this dua before setting out on a journey is a way to seek Allah’s protection and blessings, and to acknowledge that all matters of safety and well-being are in His hands.

In addition to the above dua, it is also recommended to recite specific prayers for the safety and success of the journey. For example, seeking Allah’s protection from the difficulties of travel, from finding family and property in a bad state, and from the harms of the people at home. It is a reminder to travelers to place their trust in Allah and seek His help in every step of their journey.

The dua for traveling transcends mere ritual; it’s a profound expression of faith and devotion. It serves as a heartfelt plea for Allah’s protection, guidance, and blessings, acknowledging His ultimate authority over all aspects of life. Following the Sunnah guidance and reciting the specific dua for traveling instills a sense of reassurance, as Muslims entrust their journeys to the Divine.

Moreover, integrating charity into this practice enhances its spiritual impact. By incorporating acts of charity into their routine of seeking protection and blessings, individuals not only strengthen their faith but also increase the likelihood of their dua being answered.

This holistic approach to travel preparation reflects a deep-rooted belief in the power of prayer and the noble impact of charitable deeds.

It was narrated from Hazrat Jaber bin Abdullah (RA) that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that when one of you returns from a journey, he should not come to his family at night. Hazrat Jabir ra says that by God we used to come to home after the night had passed. [Masnaf ibn abi Shaiba 34333]

It was narrated from Hazrat Anas that the Holy Prophet ﷺ did not return to his family after traveling at night, he ﷺ used to come in the morning or in the evening. [Masnad Ahmad 299]

Understanding the Essence of Dua When Traveling

In Islam, dua is an integral part of our relationship with Allah. It is a way to communicate our hopes, fears, and desires, seeking His guidance and blessings in all aspects of life. Dua is a reflection of our faith, humility, and trust in the Divine. When we make dua, we acknowledge our dependence on Allah and His control over every aspect of our lives. Through dua, we establish a profound connection with our Creator, finding solace and strength in His infinite mercy.

Dua Before the Journey

Embarking on a journey is an exciting yet uncertain time. Before setting foot outside our homes, it is crucial to seek Allah’s protection and blessings. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever leaves his home, and says: ‘In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah, there is no might nor power except with Allah,’ it will be said to him: ‘You have been guided, defended, and protected,’ and the devil will go far away from him” (Sunan Abu Dawood).

In preparation for your journey, take a moment to make dua. Seek Allah’s protection from all potential hardships and calamities that may come your way. Offer supplications for a smooth and safe journey, accompanied by His divine mercy. By starting your travels with the remembrance of Allah, you invoke His blessings and pave the way for a secure expedition.

Dua During the Journey

As you embark on your journey, the significance of dua remains steadfast. Each step, whether on land, air, or sea, presents unique challenges and unforeseen circumstances. In these moments, turning to Allah through dua provides us with tranquility and assurance. We implore His protection, guidance, and assistance, understanding that our safety lies solely in His hands.

During the journey, offer prayers specific to each stage, seeking Allah’s safeguarding grace. Whether you’re boarding a plane, driving on a busy highway, or navigating through unfamiliar terrain, take a moment to recite supplications tailored to your circumstances. These prayers become a shield against accidents, discomfort, and any potential harm. By placing your trust in Allah and making dua, you invite His divine intervention, transforming your journey into a blessed and secure experience.

Dua Upon Arrival

Upon reaching your destination, express your gratitude to Allah for His protection and guidance. Offer prayers of thanksgiving, recognizing that your safe arrival is a testament to His mercy and benevolence. At this juncture, take a moment to make dua for a blessed stay and positive experiences throughout your journey. Seek His blessings in exploring new places, meeting new people, and gaining valuable insights from your travels.

Remember, dua is not limited to seeking protection from harm; it is also about seeking blessings, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Embrace the opportunity to connect with Allah, for He is ever-ready to respond to your heartfelt supplications.

Can dua change the course of my journey?

While we ultimately rely on Allah’s divine decree, dua has the power to invoke His intervention and influence the outcome of our journey. It instills within us a sense of tranquility, strengthens our faith, and aligns our actions with His guidance.

Are there specific duas for different modes of travel?

Yes, there are supplications and prayers tailored to various forms of travel. These include prayers for boarding a plane, driving, sailing, or any other mode of transportation. These specific duas ensure that we seek Allah’s protection and blessings throughout the journey.

In the realm of travel, dua serves as a faithful companion, offering solace, protection, and blessings. By understanding the essence of dua, making supplications before, during, and after the journey, and expressing gratitude upon arrival, we infuse our travels with spirituality and divine guidance. Embrace the power of dua, for it is an integral part of our faith and an ever-present source of strength. Let your journey be safe, blessed, and filled with the mercy of Allah, knowing that you are under His watchful care.

As we embark on our travels, may we always remember the profound impact dua can have on our journeys, both in this world and the next.

Can We Read Safar Ki Dua For Traveling In Car or Plane?

Yes. Chahy ap jahaz main safar karain, lift main bethay, gaari, car, ya bike chalae, har tarha ki sawari par bethtay huay ye duai parhna chahye.

Kyu ke sawari hamaray ikhtiyaar aur qabu se nikalnay main aik lamha bhi nahi lagta. Is liye zaruri hai kay Allah Taala se khair maang kar, toba karke aur uski madad ke sath har safar ko shuru kia jae.

Isi liye boht se ulama to yeh bhi kehtay hain ke ghair zaruri safar se parhaiz karna chahye aur safar se pehle Istikhara karna chahye takay khair o barakat hasil ho. Iske alawa safar se pehle hifazat ke liye Dua e Anas ka bhi ehtimam karna chahye

Dua Before Driving A Car (With Pictures)

Posted by Ahmed Abdulla | Duas

Dua Before Driving A Car (With Pictures)

You may be asking yourself the question, how can there be a dua for driving or riding in a vehicle. There were no cars that existed during the Prophet’s (ﷺ) time.

That’s a very valid concern, but the dua we’re sharing today was related in hadith book Jami’ At Tirmidhi, hadith #3446 for reference.

The context in which the dua was recited was right before getting on animal and heading on a journey. The modern day version of this would be travelling in your car and also wishing Allah for a safe journey.

You can listen to the audio version of the dua below:

Here’s the full hadith from the Chapter on What Has Been Related About What One Says When Riding An Animal:

Ali bin Rabi’ah said: “I witnessed Ali having an animal brought to him to ride. When he placed his foot in the stirrup he said: ‘In the Name of Allah,’ (Bismillāh) [three times]. So then, once he had ascended upon its back, he said: ‘All praise is due to Allah.’ ( Alḥamdulillah ) then he said: Glory is to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we were not able to do it. And, surely, to our Lord are we returning ( Subhanal-ladhi sakh-khara lana hadha, wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibun . ) Then he said: ‘All praise is due to Allah (Alḥamdulillah)’ – three times – and ‘Allah is the Greatest (Allahu Akbar)’ – three times – ‘Glory is to You, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for indeed none forgives sins except You (Subḥanaka inni qad ẓalamtu nafsi faghfirli fa-innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa ant).’ Then he laughed. So I said: ‘O Commander of the Believer! What caused you to laugh?’ He said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah do as I did, then he (ﷺ) laughed, so I said, ‘What cause you to laugh?’ He said: ‘Indeed, your Lord is very pleased with His worshipper when he says: “O my Lord, forgive me my sins, indeed, no one other than You forgives sins.”

Grade : Sahih (Darussalam) Reference : Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3446 In-book reference : Book 48, Hadith 77

dua before driving a car or riding in a vehicle

This authenticity of this dua can also be confirmed since it’s found directly in the Quran in Surah Zukhruf  ayat 13-14.

Litastawoo ‘alaa zuhoorihee summa tazkuroo ni’mata Rabbikum izastawaitum ‘alaihi wa taqooloo Subhaanal lazee sakhkhara lana haaza wa maa kunnaa lahoo muqrineen

That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. “Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.

Wa innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return.”

Other Duas You May Be Interested in Learning: Benefits of Powerful Dhikr Subhanallah Wa Bihamdihi Dua For Parents Dua hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel

We all should make the effort to remember Allah before driving and inshallah he will protect us.

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, thus stated: I am near to the thought of my servant as he thinks about me, and I am with him as he remembers me. And if he remembers me in his heart, I also remember him in my heart, and if he remembers me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards me, I rush towards him.

“Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Mawla (protector).” And in Allah let the believers put their trust.  Surah Taubah Verse 51.

The best way to get in the habit of reciting this dua is to print the image and to leave it right on the dashboard of your car or inside the cup holder. Just place it somewhere so that you’ll be reminded right away.

The idea is we don’t want to rely on will power and memory to recite this Dua. We are often easily distracted and forgetful. By placing the card we eliminate all reasons for failing to make this dua because we made it very easy.

Dua for Travelling: Strengthening Faith and Seeking Allah’s Protection on Your Journey

As believers and followers of Islam, it is important to always be mindful of seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings in every aspect of our lives. Traveling, whether short distances or long, provides an opportunity to invoke Allah’s protection and guidance on our journey. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught the Ummah various duas (supplications) for different occasions, including the dua for traveling. In this blog post, we will explore the significance of the traveler’s dua and the incredible spiritual benefits that come from reciting it.

Table of Contents

Before embarking on any journey, it is essential to recite the dua for traveling. This dua is known as the Dua of Safar (دعاء السفر), and it is a beautiful way to seek Allah’s protection, guidance, and blessings on your journey

Let’s delve into the words from the dua:

لله أكبر الله أكبر الله أكبر،

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَـذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ.

Transliteration: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Subhana alladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin wa inna ila rabbina lamunqaliboon.

Translation: Glory to Him who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), and to our Lord, surely, we are to return.

Transliteration: “Allahumma innā nas’aluka fee safarinā hādha al-birra wa-t-taqwā, wa minal-‘amali ma tardi, Allahumma hawwin ‘alayna safarana hādha watwi ‘annā bu’dah, Allahumma anata as-sahibu fis-safari, wal-khalifatu fil-ahl, Allahumma innā na’ūdhu bika min wa’tha’is-safari, wa kabatil-mandhari, wasu’il-munqalabi fil-māli wal-ahl”

Translation: “Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, O Allah, we ask You for righteousness and piety in this journey of ours, and we ask You for deeds which please You. O Allah, facilitate our journey and let us cover its distance quickly. O Allah, You are the Companion in the journey and the Successor over the family. O Allah, I take refuge with You from the difficulties of travel, from having a change of hearts and being in a bad predicament, and from an ill-fated outcome with wealth and family.”

This dua is both a humble plea and a powerful assertion of Allah’s supremacy. We seek tranquillity and ease in our journey, request His guidance in undertaking actions that earn His pleasure, and implore His protection from hardships, changes of heart, and unfortunate incidents involving our wealth and family.

From Surah Hud Ayah 41:

وقال اركبوا فيها بسم الله مجراها ومرساها إن ربي لغفور رحيم

Transliteration: Waqala irkaboo feeha bismillahi majraha wamursaha inna rabbee laghafoorun raheem[1%5E]

Translation: And he said, “Embark therein, in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful[1].

This Ayah is from the moment when the Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) was about to embark on the journey in the ark with those who believed in Allah s.w.t. The statement declared by Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) captures the spirit of complete trust and reliance in Allah s.w.t. He attributes the voyage’s movement and rest to Allah’s name, an expression of strong faith and surrender to divine decree.

In the name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

Hadith on Duas for Travelling

Ibn Umar reported: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would mount his camel for travel, he would exalt Allah three times and then say,

“ Glory be to Him who has made this subservient to us, for we have no power over it ourselves, and to our Lord we shall return.  (43:14)  O Allah, we ask You during this journey for righteousness, fear of Your, and deeds that are pleasing to You. Oh Allah, make this journey easy for us and make the distance short for us. O Allah, You are our companion during the journey and the guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, ugly scenes, and an evil return to our property and family. ”

When the Prophet returned, he would say these words and add to them, “ We are those who return, those who repent, those who worship and who praise our Lord .”

Ibn Umar reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out upon a journey, he would say by nightfall,

“ O land, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. I seek refuge in him from your evil, from the evil you contain, from the evil created in you, and from the evil of what walks upon you. I seek refuge in Allah from lions, from serpents, from scorpions, from the inhabitants of the land, and from an evil parent and his offspring .”
