Deutsches Museum: Science and technology at your fingertips
The landmark of the Deutsches Museum, the museum tower, is clearly visible – even from a distance. It houses a modern weather station and also Germany's largest thermometer. Founded more than 100 years ago, Deutsches Museum today exhibits one of the most important collections of natural science technology.
At three locations – on Munich's Museum Island, at the Verkehrszentrum (Transport Museum) and Schleissheim airfield – visitors can take part in demonstrations, experiments and media stations. The masterpieces gathered here leave guests amazed and challenge their minds.
Re-opening in 2022: 19 new exhibitions on 20,000 square metres
In 2022, after a thorough renovation, the first part of the building on Museum Island reopened with 19 new departments. Until the renovation work in the second part of the building is completed, visitors will no longer enter the museum via the main entrance in the museum courtyard, but via an entrance on Corneliusbrücke (bridge). Here you can take a first glance at the new departments of the Deutsches Museum.
The range of topics is wide: from model railways to atomic physics, from electronics to health, from “bridges and hydraulic engineering“ to musical instruments. You can also admire the newly designed aerospace hall with an exhibition area of almost 7000 square metres.
The Deutsches Museum is a place of active learning, where children and adults can satisfy their curiosity: hear and see, touch, try out and experience! After the renovation, many of the museum's highlights, such as the first diesel engine, the flight simulator or the famous “nuclear fission table“ in chemistry, have returned to the new permanent exhibitions in the main building on Museum Island. However, a third of all exhibits are new and have been moved from the museum depot to the new exhibitions.
New museum catering: Restaurant “Frau im Mond”
The highlight is the new restaurant “Frau im Mond” with a roof terrace leading from the museum's space exhibition to the outside. From here, you have a view across the Isar river to the mountains. The restaurant is also accessible in the evening via the newly designed museum garden.
Kiddies' world & indoor playground: Family offers at Deutsches Museum
Deutsches Museum is particularly popular with families and children and offers something for every age group. The little ones (three to eight years old) can visit the kiddies' world together with their parents and explore the pulley, giant guitar, a hall of mirrors and indoor playground.
Slightly older children from the age of seven years can join in the experiment workshop or celebrate themed birthdays here. In addition, the museum offers many workshops and guided tours aimed exclusively at children and young people. Children can also discover various films, audio guides and information for children online .
In the inner courtyard of the museum is the Deutsches Museum shop with its range of smart souvenirs, gifts and scientific and technical toys.
Embark on a digital tour of the Deutsches Museum
You can also experience Deutsches Museum in a digital way: On Youtube , the museum offers virtual 360-degree tours or guided excursions through its exhibition rooms. There is also a newly developed media guide with explanations of the exhibits in words, pictures and sound. You can download this app to your own smartphone or rent it on borrowed devices.

Novorossiysk is a port city in Krasnodar Krai with population 230,000.
Understand [ edit ]
History [ edit ]
In the times of the Ancient Greeks, here was the site of Bata of the Bosporan Kingdom, a colony that specialized in the grain trade. It was settled by Adyghe tribes and later conquered by the Mongols. From 1722 to the Russo-Turkish war in 1829, the area was controlled by the Ottomans. In 1855, English and French fleets unsuccessfully besieged the fort during the Crimean war. In late 1942, the area was occupied by the Germans.
A naval base is under construction and is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
Geography [ edit ]
The city is situated on a 25km bay and is formed as an amphitheater by surrounding mountains protecting it from the cold air coming from the continent. The river Tsemes runs through the city.
Climate [ edit ]
Novorossiysk has a humid subtropical climate. In winter, the air masses from the north take hold of the city while in the summer the air is of tropical origin. The cold weather lasts from November to March and three-day storms with severe wind are pretty common. The clouds of cold air rolling over the mountains look like giant candyfloss and temperatures drop 10-15 degrees in a few hours.
The average temperature of July is 23.7C and is 2.3C in January. The bay is prone to tornadoes and storms in August.
Get in [ edit ]
By plane [ edit ].
Anapa Airport ( AAQ IATA ) is 63km northwest of the city. The airport serves regular flights to Moscow , Sochi , and Simferopol as has seasonal flights to most major cities in Russia.
Krasnodar International Airport ( KRR IATA ) is 165km km east of the city and offers additional flight options.
Get around [ edit ]

Liverpool fc stadium tour and museum now open.
Liverpool FC’s stadium tour and museum are now open and ready to welcome visitors for the first time since March.
Following the Government’s announcement that visitor attractions are able to reopen, the stadium tour and museum team have been working hard to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for guests in line with social distancing and industry guidelines.
To ensure visitor safety, extensive health and safety measures have been implemented making the tour a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Capacity will be limited to allow visitors to maintain social distancing - all tours must be booked advance. Hand sanitising stations on entry have also been installed and enhanced cleaning regimes applied.
Social distancing guidelines will also be implemented via a newly designed one-way system with two-metre markers in place. The tour’s multimedia handsets will be sanitised thoroughly between each use and all visitors will receive their own individual LFC branded earbuds at no charge.
Guests are advised that all till points and payments will be contactless or payment via debit/credit card, and visitors will be required to print their tickets in advance or display them on a mobile device.
Fans are advised that the Premier League trophy will not be on display at Anfield at this time - further information on this will be provided in due course. The Boot Room Sports Café will remain closed; however, Anfield’s superstore will be open the public.
Tom Cassidy, senior manager, tourism at Liverpool FC said: “We understand that things might feel a little different next time our supporters visit, however we look forward to welcoming fans and visitors back to the LFC stadium tour and museum.”
As part of the reopening, LFC stadium tour and museum has launched a brand-new tour - The Anfield Origins - which takes in the external surroundings of the stadium learning about the history of our great club as you are taken from the late 19th century to present day. Visitors will finish the tour on the illustrious Kop and take in the famous Anfield pitch.
Tickets to this tour also include entry to the club’s interactive museum, The Liverpool FC Story , The Steven Gerrard Collection exhibition and all six European cups.
