Michael R Fermoyle
Mike Fermoyle’s amateur golf career features state titles in five different decades, beginning with the State Public Links (1969), three State Amateurs (1970, 1973 and 1980), and four State Four-Ball championships (1972, 1985, 1993 and 2001). Fermoyle was medalist at the Pine to Palm in 1971, won the Resorters in 1972, made the cut at the State Amateur 18 consecutive years (1969 to 1986), the last being 2000, and amassed 13 top-ten finishes. Fermoyle enjoyed a career as a sportswriter at the St. Paul Pioneer Press Dispatch before retiring in 2006. Two years later he began a second career covering the golf beat exclusively for the MGA and its website, mngolf.org, where he ranks individual prep golfers and teams, provides coverage on local amateur and professional tournaments and keeps tabs on how Minnesotans are faring on the various professional tours.

2024 PLAYERS TOUR SCHEDULE
*Check out the Players Tour FAQ at the bottom of the page for any questions*
The Players Tour is an invitational program where the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Committee and staff determines eligibility requirements. This is open to boys and girls ages 13-19. Juniors who have reached their 19th birthday prior to August 15, 2024 are eligible only if they have immediately finished their senior year of high school. The goal of the Players Tour is to have the top junior golfers in the Section compete on golf courses set up appropriately for a high level of play. The Players Tour will now offer all 36-hole individual stroke play tournaments. All Players Tour events are nationally ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, as well as recognized by AJGA Performance Based Entry stars in these collegiate style events. These tour events will allow all boys and girls to showcase their talent in an elite overall boy and girls contest (no age divisions). This tour is meant for highly skilled players with tournament experience. Course yardages will be approximately 6,600 – 6,900 for boys and 5,600 – 5,900 for girls. Each 36-hole Players Tour Event has an entry fee of $175.00. The annual membership fee for the Players Tour is $150.00.
Who is invited to play on the 2024 Players Tour:
- Players Tour invites are being sent out based on your average score to par using your best three 18-hole scores from our program in 2023. To receive an invite in 2024, junior boys had a scoring average to par of 5.00 or less and junior girls had a scoring average to par of 14.00 or less. CLICK HERE to check out the junior boys invite list and CLICK HERE to check out the junior girls invite list based on your scoring average to par from 2023.
- If you did not receive an invite based on your average score to par in 2023 you might be able to play based on your handicap index under the World Handicap System. Boys must have a handicap index of 5.0 or less and girls must be 14.0 or less to qualify for the Players Tour. If you meet the above handicap requirements, contact Karla Hagen and Megan Welch at the Section office to verify your handicap and make you eligible to register for the Players Tour Membership. You can email them at [email protected] and [email protected] . Please make sure in your email that you include: first and last name, city, GHIN number and handicap index to get verified.
- Membership registration for the 2024 Players Tour will start on Tuesday, January 30 at 9AM CST. The membership fee for the Players Tour is $150.00 (includes a Junior Tour Membership). You will click on the Become a Member link at the top of the website to get registered for a membership at that time.
How will Players Tour Event registration work in 2024?
The 2024 Players Tour schedule will be released on Wednesday, February 28 at 9AM (CST).
We will be doing a random lottery process for the 2024 Players Tour events. Only 2024 Players Tour members can participate in the lottery for Players Tour events. We will open the lottery to put in your picks on Wednesday, February 28 at 9AM (CST) and we will close the lottery on Monday, March 11 at NOON (CST). You will log into your 2024 Member record in BlueGolf and select all of the tournaments that you would like to play in on the Players Tour for the summer. You will have the same chance as everyone else if you make your picks within the selection time frame. This IS NOT a first come, first served basis for registering for events. NO LATE SELECTIONS WILL BE HONORED .
You will start to receive emails on Tuesday, March 12 with confirmations for each event that you did receive. This is done event by event, so you could receive multiple emails throughout the assigning process. This will take multiple days to get done. Your credit card on file will also be charged at this time for each event you receive. The cost for each 36-Hole Players Tour event is $175.00, and the cost for each 18-Hole Players Tour event is $85.00. We will only accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express payment for tournament fees. You will only be charged for the events that you did receive through the lottery process.
After all confirmations are sent out after the lottery process for Players Tour events, we will re-open events that still have open spots for first come, first registration on Monday, March 18 at 9AM (CST).
If you did not receive the event through the lottery process, you will automatically be put on the waiting list for that event. We will contact you by your primary email address if you do receive a spot into the event from the waiting list.

In 1978, the first Legends of Golf was held at Onion Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas.
Two years later, the Senior PGA Tour had its first two official tournaments. Don January and Arnold Palmer won those first events.
From there, the circuit grew and in 1990, Lee Trevino became the first golfer to win $1 million in a season. In 2002, the tour was rebranded as the Champions Tour. In 2015, it took on its current name, the PGA Tour Champions.
Bernhard Langer became the winningest golfer in Champions history in 2023 when he got to No. 46, breaking a mark long held by Hale Irwin. Langer is also the top money-winner all-time on the tour.
He’s one of three players to reach the $20 million mark. Six players on this list have surpassed the $15 million mark. There are 31 at $10 million.
As you make your way through this list, keep in mind:

2024 nba playoffs preview, prediction: minnesota timberwolves vs. denver nuggets.

This will be the best series of the second round.
Denver is the class of the West, the defending NBA champions led by the best player on the planet in Nikola Jokic. Minnesota lacks hat experience but is the only other team left in the postseason that can match their size along the front line. This promises to be a physical series.
A year ago these two teams met in the first round and, while Denver won in five games, Minnesota started to figure things out by the end, and the Nuggets later said it might have been their toughest playoff series. This season the teams split their series 2-2.
This is going to be a hard-fought second-round series. Here’s a breakdown of the series — including three things to watch for — and a prediction at the end.
When does the Timberwolves vs. Nuggets begin?
Game One between the Timberwolves and Nuggets is Saturday, May 4, at 7 ET in Denver, with the game broadcast on TNT.
Minnesota vs. Denver Playoffs Schedule 2024
All times are Eastern (* = if necessary). Game 1: Timberwolves at Nuggets, May 4 (7 ET, TNT) Game 2: Timberwolves at Nuggets, May 6 (10 ET, TNT) Game 3: Nuggets at Timberwolves, May 10 (9:30ET, ESPN) Game 4: Nuggets at Timberwolves, May 12 (8 ET, TNT) Game 5: Timberwolves at Nuggets, May 14 (TBD, TNT)* Game 6: Nuggets at Timberwolves, May 16 (8:30 ET, ESPN)* Game 7: Timberwolves at Nuggets, May 19 (TBD, TBD)*
Three things to watch for in Minnesota vs. Denver
1) can timberwolves execute under pressure.
There’s a fascinating chess match in his series. Do the Timberwolves put Karl-Anthony Towns on Jokic and have Rudy Gobert on Aaron Gordon and in a good help position? Jaden McDaniels on Jamal Murray? On the other side of the court, how do the Timberwolves drag Jokic into high pick-and-rolls to try and wear him down? All that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Those matchup challenges are not what makes Denver elite — it is their otherworldly execution. The continuity of the same great players in the same system for years has given them an almost intuitive understanding of where the other players will be on the court and when they might cut or pop out. Jokic’s passing is always pinpoint. It’s that ability to adjust on the fly, almost without words, that makes the Nuggets so hard to defend.
Can Minnesota execute at near that level? The question isn’t talent — the Timberwolves have that — but this team struggled all season in the clutch. Minnesota had a -13.1 net rating in clutch minutes (the last five minutes of a game within five points), while Denver led the league with a +24.5 net rating.
That could be the difference in the series, can the Timberwolves execute at the level they must not to lose games in the final minutes?
2) Can Karl-Anthony Towns, others provide enough secondary scoring?
Anthony Edwards is going to get his. The breakout superstar of these playoffs will be tested being guarded by Aaron Gordon and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, but he has reached the superstar point already that you can bank on him getting buckets.
Will he get enough support? Specifically, will Towns step up as the second scorer this team needs in this series, knocking down outside shots and spacing the floor to open up driving lanes? McDaniels had a 25-point game last series, can he have another strong outing or two? Can Gobert get buckets in the paint? Mike Conley and Gobert have a strong pick-and-roll chemistry that can lead to buckets.
As great as Minnesota’s defense is, Denver is going to score. Jokic is too good, the Jokic/Murray pick-and-roll is as great a two-man game as there is in the league. To have a chance in this series, the Timberwolves will need to consistently get buckets and someone other than Edwards will have to carry some of that load.
3) Can Timberwolves dominate non-Jokic minutes?
This item could have been, “Is Jamal Murray’s calf healthy?” If the answer is no, then it is the biggest story in this series, but because he just played through the calf issue in Game 5 against the Lakers and then got five days off, we’re going to assume he is good to go.
Which brings us to the non-Jokic minutes. There are not many of them in the playoffs, but the Timberwolves need to dominate them. The Lakers did not, across the five games they were just +8 in the non-Jokic minutes, that was simply not enough of a gap.
To win this series, Minnesota has to dominate the hon-Jokic minutes.
It also would help — and just be good to see — their injured coach Chris Finch in the sidelines.
Prediction: Nuggets in 7
This is going to be close. Denver doesn’t have the depth it did a season ago (they miss Bruce Brown), and Minnesota is improving game by game, especially in confidence. However, I trust the Nuggets to execute better at the end of tight games. This series goes six or seven games, but the defending champs advance.

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves schedule: Where to watch, NBA scores, game predictions, odds for NBA playoff series
The no. 2 and no. 3 seeds out of the western conference prepare for an epic battle.
For the second year in a row, the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are squaring off in the NBA playoffs. The Nuggets dispatched the Wolves in the first round last year, but Minnesota looks like a more complete team this time around -- one eyeing a second-round upset of the reigning champs. The No. 3-seed Wolves pulled off an impressive sweep of the No. 6-seed Suns in the first round, while the No. 2-seed Nuggets ousted the No. 7-seed Lakers in five games to advance to the Western Conference semifinals of the NBA playoff bracket .
The Nuggets and Wolves jostled with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the West's top seed throughout the year. OKC ultimately grabbed the top seed thanks to a tiebreaker, and Denver (57-25) finished one game ahead of Minnesota (56-26). The Nuggets took out the Wolves in five games during the first round last season on their way to the 2023 NBA title.
"We can get better and we're going to have to get better because Minnesota was the No. 1 team in the West for most of the year," Denver coach Michael Malone told reporters this week , "and it's going to be a hard-fought series and I'm sure they're going to want revenge from last season."
This year's series kicks off Saturday, May 4 as Denver hosts Game 1. Here's everything to know about the second-round series, including the series schedule, viewing information, odds and game-by-game predictions as each one concludes.

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves, Game 1
Where to watch.
Time : 7 p.m. ET | Date : Saturday, May 4 Location : Ball Arena -- Denver TV channel : TNT | Streaming: Watch TNT, Max Series odds : Nuggets -185, Wolves +155
The Wolves have firmly established themselves as one of the Nuggets' top challengers in the West. Minnesota had its best regular season in 20 years as Rudy Gobert anchored a stellar defense and Anthony Edwards climbed a few more rungs on the superstar ladder. Both the Wolves defense and Edwards were great in their first-round sweep of the Suns. Minnesota held Phoenix under 100 points in each of the first two games, and Edwards averaged 31 points in the series, shooting 43.8% on 3-pointers.
The Nuggets took care of the Lakers in five games. Nikola Jokic was his usual dominant self, but Jamal Murray came up clutch twice, hitting game-winning shots in Games 2 and 5.
While the Nuggets only needed five games to eliminate the Wolves last year, former Denver guard Bruce Brown said last year that the Wolves were the Nuggets' toughest test during their run to the championship.
It could be another battle for the Nuggets this year. SportsLine's simulations think there could be an upset brewing in the second round .
The Nuggets looked a bit vulnerable in the first round, but were terrific in closing time against the Lakers. The Wolves ran away from the Suns and look like a juggernaut themselves. It could be another Nuggets playoff game that comes down to the wire, so take Minnesota and the points. Pick : Wolves +4.5
