Background [ ]

On October 25, 2012, in partnership with ABC News on the prime-time TV special All Access Nashville with Katie Couric – A Special Edition of 20/20, Swift announced that she would be launching a North American stadium and arena tour in early 2013 in support of her fourth studio album, Red . During a radio interview with WRVW, Swift mentioned that "It's nothing like any other tour before."

Swift told Billboard : "Of course, you know the tour will be a big representation of this record," Swift tells Billboard . "I'm so excited to see what songs the fans like the most and which ones jump to the forefront, because that's the first step. We always see which songs are really the passionate songs and the ones the fans are freaking out over the most, and those are the ones that are definitely in the set list. I can't wait for that."

Swift used Tom Petty's " American Girl " as her entrance song on her previous tour but now takes the stage to Lenny Kravitz's version of "American Woman". She sings a cover of The Lumineers's "Ho Hey" nightly, intertwined with her own "Stay Stay Stay".

Her meet and greet room for the tour was called Club Red .

The stage for the Red tour is when Swift really started getting creative with her stage designs and therefore, add a more evolved look to her live shows. In fact, the shape of the Red Tour stage is very unique, it is in a U shape, with two pits, divided by a catwalk within the U stage. This permitted for fans to feel closer to Taylor during the show and have many interactions.

The main stage catwalk also had a crane that Swift went on during " Treacherous " and " We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together " for the show encore.

There was also a B stage at the back of the venue, with a round-shaped platform that lifted up. Swift would perform the surprise song of the set on this stage.

During the shows in Asia, the stage was been modified with several cuts, including:

  • The U stage was completely removed and replaced by a standard T-shaped catwalk
  • The overhead screen above the stage were removed, and there was only one back screen, not three.
  • Many lighting were reduced.
  • The crane at catwalk, the lifted platform on B stage and floating constellation during " Sparks Fly " was removed.

Taylor Swift's 'Red' Tour: The Biggest, Best, Most Star-Studded Slumber Party EVER! (VIDEOS)

red tour special guests

Check out the faves-on-faves AH-MAY-ZINGNESS that was Taylor Swift's "Red" Tour.

After six months and 63 shows, Taylor Swift 's "Red" Tour finally closed out its North American leg. (Shout-out to Oceania! Tay-Tay's heading your way in November.) Hearing those sweet, somber swan songs and razor-in-the-cupcake kiss-off tracks in full blast was incredible! But, honestly? That wasn't even our favorite part.

That honor would have to go to the fact that the entire exercise was possibly just a means for the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer to duet karaoke songs with all of her faves. Carly Simon , Jennifer Lopez , Hunter Hayes , Cher Lloyd , and more turned up to get their Tay-Tay on, much like we are ALL about to right now! COME, let us revisit the glory and the splendor that was Taylor Swift's stadium-size karaoke slumber party -- er, the "Red" Tour.

1.) JENNIFER LOPEZ, " JENNY FROM THE BLOCK ": Performing at L.A.'s Staples Center, Tay-Tay described J. Lo's classic as her "hairbrush song" (as in, the song Taylor would sing into her hairbrush alone in her room when she was younger).

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + JENNIFER LOPEZ PERFORM "JENNY FROM THE BLOCK" LIVE IN LOS ANGELES .

Watch more surprise guest highlights from Taylor Swift's "Red" Tour after the jump.

2.) CARLY SIMON, "YOU'RE SO VAIN": Seeing Carly join Taylor on stage for an iconic song that is, like, the REASON we have songs like " We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together " is amazing and inspiring. Knowing that Carly revealed who "You're So Vain" is about to Tay-Tay before swearing her to secrecy is frustrating and envy-inspiring. It's all about balance.

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + CARLY SIMON PERFORM "YOU'RE SO VAIN" LIVE IN FOXBOROUGH, MASS .

3.) CHER LLOYD, "WANT U BACK": Another Staples Center duet, this cameo spotlights two of our favorite motions ever performed by a human being: the "I Wish" singer's "URNGGH!" two-handed pelvic thrust, and Taylor's "UGH, AS IF !" high-pony brush-off.

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + CHER LLOYD PERFORM "WANT U BACK" LIVE IN LOS ANGELES .

3.) HUNTER HAYES, " I WANT CRAZY ": On Sept. 21 (aka last Saturday), Taylor closed out the final Red Tour show with a surprise duet with Hunter Hayes on his hit song "I Want Crazy." Basically, I want whatever the hell is happening on stage because it is MAGIC.

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + HUNTER HAYES PERFORM "I WANT CRAZY" LIVE IN NASHVILLE .

5.) TEGAN AND SARA , " CLOSER ": Obviously nothing Tegan and Sara-related will ever be cuter than that all-dog "Closer" cover video , but this tag team with Taylor -- especially when they sing "I won't treat you like you're oh so typi- caaaaaaal !" [emphasis OURS] -- makes for a pretty respectable runner-up.

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + TEGAN AND SARA PERFORM "CLOSER" LIVE IN LOS ANGELES .

6.) SARA BAREILLES , " BRAVE ": We love everything about this, especially when Tay indicates that a typical way to show love is to "hold up anything shiny, or glittery, or light-up that you have." The only part we take umbrage with is when Taylor says "I listen to it every single time I have a bad self-esteem day, which is a lot" -- because GIRL.

+ Watch TAYLOR SWIFT + SARA BAREILLES PERFORM "BRAVE" LIVE IN LOS ANGELES .

7.) ELLIE GOULDING , " ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN ": If this third Staples Center moment, nay, if the entire "Red" Tour proves anything, it's that anything truly could happen -- at least when you're in the same room as Taylor Swift and her magical, candelabra-laden stairway of dreams and wishes.

Taylor Swift Closes Out Red Tour with Special Guests in Nashville

Taylor Swift closed out the U.S. leg of her massively successful Red Tour with three back-to-back SOLD-OUT shows at Nashville’s Bridgestone arena this weekend (9/19-9/21). Although she came down with a cold Friday morning, the two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year brought out all the bells and whistles and gave fans three shows they won’t soon forget.

In addition to singing a variety of her hits, Swift also invited a special guest to join her on stage each night. On Thursday, Luke Bryan surprised the capacity crowd and joined the 23-year-old for a duet of Luke’s hit “I Don’t Want This Night To End.” The following night, Swift and her former tour mates Rascal Flatts came together for a moving performance of the trio’s 2006 chart-topper “What Hurts the Most” and on night three, Swift was joined by Hunter Hayes for an energetic performance of “I Want Crazy.”

While we can’t speak for Thursday or Saturday night’s shows, we do know that Taylor Swift gave it all she got on Friday night. She’s a brilliant entertainer and always seems to have the crowd in the palm of her hands throughout the entire show. Her Red tour was an absolute spectacle.

«The visuals portrayed on this tour will be, I guess, more grown-up and a little bit more mature than things we’ve done in the past. I think on my previous albums and my previous tours, I’ve really liked to operate in the element of fantasy, and I think that this tour incorporates a little bit more reality into the visuals, which is nice.» Taylor Swift

All the Surprise Appearances at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour So Far

Updated on 7/24/2023 at 10:45 AM

red tour special guests

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour continues to take her all across the United States, and so far she's invited several of her famous friends and collaborators to join her during the shows. Every night, Swift performs two surprise songs as part of the set list , and she's had someone take the stage with her during that part quite a few times. Plus, when singer Phoebe Bridgers joined the tour in May as an opener, Swift performed their duet "Nothing New" as part of the set list every night. Then, to close out her May dates, Swift invited Ice Spice — who appears on "Karma Remix" — to each of her New Jersey shows. The Chicago crowd at Swift's June 3 show got a treat when country star Maren Morris joined the singer on stage. And once Haim joined the show as an opener during the Seattle dates on July 22 and 23, they joined Swift on stage to perform their collab "No Body, No Crime," off of 2020's "Evermore."

Swift is set to play dates in the US through August (plus international dates later this year and in 2024). Of course, fans are speculating who else Swift might bring out. Swift has songs with artists like Keith Urban, Lana Del Rey, Bon Iver, The Chicks, Kendrick Lamar, Zayn, and Ed Sheeran, so it's possible any of them could pop up during the tour.

Swift fans also have hopes that the singer will perform with one of her ex-boyfriends, like Harry Styles or Joe Jonas . In an April interview with Hits Radio UK , Jonas addressed speculation he might appear on tour, saying, "Well you have to be invited," then added, "On stage. On stage that is."

Here are all the surprise guests Swift has had join her on the Eras Tour so far.

Marcus Mumford Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

Marcus Mumford joined Swift as the March 25 show, the second night in Las Vegas. Mumford sang "Cowboy Like Me" with the pop star; Mumford also features on the official track, which appears on 2020's "Evermore." Mumford shared a video from the performance on his TikTok and wrote in the caption, "you're a bandit like me @taylorswift." In the live version, he sang a verse from the song, but on the album version, he only sings harmonies.

Before their performance, Swift shared with the crowd that she actually recorded multiple songs from "Evermore" at Mumford's home recording studio. Most traditional studios were still closed at the time due to COVID-19. Swift convinced Mumford to sing harmonies on the track after he came into the studio to watch her record.

Aaron Dessner Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

Aaron Dessner Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

Frequent Swift collaborator Aaron Dessner has surprised Swift's crowd at three Eras Tour concerts so far. At the April 14 show in Tampa, he joined Swift to perform "The Great War" during the surprise portion of the show. The song is a "3am" track from Swift's 2022 release "Midnights." The next day, he returned to perform "Mad Woman" with Swift. That song is from 2020's "Folklore." He returned again on May 7 in Nashville to perform "Would've, Could've, Should've," another "3am" track, with Swift in the pouring rain.

After performing "The Great War" with Swift, Dessner wrote on Instagram , "Playing the Great War for the first time in Tampa....Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine getting to play a song for 80,000 people on acoustic guitar with @taylorswift." He added heart and wide-eyed emojis and continued, "eternally grateful for all the music we have made and your friendship. The #tstheerastour is the greatest show I've ever seen!!!!!"

On June 18, Dessner joined Swift to perform "Seven," another "Folklore" song. And at night two in Cincinnati (Dessner's hometown) on July 1, he played guitar during Swift's performance of the "Evermore" track "Ivy."

Dessner, who's part of the band The National, and Swift first collaborated on "Folklore" and they also cowrote songs on "Evermore" and the "3am" "Midnights" tracks.

Phoebe Bridgers Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

Phoebe Bridgers Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

Bridgers is one of the openers for the Eras Tour, and her first shows were Swift's Nashville stops on May 5, 6, and 7. At the first of those shows, she and Swift surprised fans by adding their duet, "Nothing New," to the set list during the "Red" section. The song is one of the vault tracks off of 2021's "Red (Taylor's Version)." The song was added to the set list for all of Swift's May shows, so fans in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey were treated to the duet.

Bridgers also surprised fans in her own way during her first two sets in Nashville (she did not open at the third show due to rain). At both shows, she brought out her supergroup Boygenius. The band, made up of her, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker, just released their first full-length album in March.

Jack Antonoff Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

Jack Antonoff Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

On May 26 — Swift's first night in East Rutherford, NJ — she brought out New Jersey native (and frequent collaborator) Jack Antonoff. The pair performed "Getaway Car" off of 2017's "Reputation," together. The song is a fan favorite in part because Swift and Antonoff's writing process was captured in the 2020 documentary "Miss Americana." In the clip , the pair jump over each other to write the words to the song's bridge in a sudden burst of inspiration.

Ice Spice Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

Ice Spice Surprise Performances at the Eras Tour

On the morning of May 26, Swift released "Karma (Remix)" featuring Ice Spice. During her concert that night, Swift debuted the music video, which also features the rapper. And then, when she ended the show with "Karma," Ice Spice came out to perform their version with Swift and her dancers. But that was just the beginning. The Bronx native ended up joining Swift at all three New Jersey shows that weekend.

Maren Morris Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

On June 3, Swift brought Morris out in Chicago to perform their duet "You All Over Me" together live for the first time. The song was a vault track on 2021's "Fearless (Taylor's Version)." Swift called Morris one of her "favorite artists" before they sang the duet, during which they both played guitar.

Morris wrote on TikTok alongside a video of their performance, "Thank you so much for having me @Taylor Swift. Your generosity to me in these last 7 years is insurmountable and I love you so." She added on Instagram , "We finally got to play 'You All Over Me' and I won't ever be shutting up about it."

Gracie Abrams Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

At night two in Cincinnati on Jully 1, Swift moved her set up an hour to account for forecasted storms. That meant one of the openers, Gracie Abrams, didn't get to go on. So, for the very first time, Swift performed three surprise songs during her set, and brought out Abrams for one. Together they sang Abrams's song "I Miss You, I'm Sorry."

Abrams wrote on Instagram after, "@taylorswift I love you forever friend. Just thank you."

Haim Surprise Performance at the Eras Tour

Haim — made up of sisters Alana, Este, and Danielle Haim — joined Swift during her Seattle shows to perform "No Body, No Crime" during the "Evermore" portion of the set list. Based on the precedent set by Bridgers, it seems they'll be performing the show at all the dates they're the openers for. The band wrote on TikTok, "Our first time getting to play this!!!" On Instagram , they added, "ERAS NIGHT ONE WAS A DREAM!!!!"

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the Surprise Guests So Far

Fans at these shows had some good karma

red tour special guests

Kevin Mazur/TAS23/Getty

Taylor Swift 's Eras tour is straight out of our wildest dreams.

On her 60-stop tour , the 12-time Grammy Award winner has not disappointed — from the 10-studio-album setlist, to the outfits, to the surprise guests. So far, Swift has brought out six artists to perform on the stage with her, and fans have been enchanted by each and every one.

Already looking ahead, fans have been taking their guesses at who else might show up onstage — Swift has songs that include Keith Urban (who already saw a show but did not perform), Lana Del Rey , Bon Iver, The Chicks , Kendrick Lamar , Zayn Malik and Ed Sheeran , just to name a few. When Haim opens the tour later this summer, many are hoping they will join Swift to sing "No Body No Crime," which they collaborated on for Evermore.

Here is all you need to know about the Eras Tour surprise guests so far.

Marcus Mumford

TAS Rights Management via Getty

Just a week after kicking off her tour, Marcus Mumford — the Mumford & Sons frontman — joined Swift to sing "Cowboy Like Me" at her March 25 Las Vegas show. On the song in the Evermore album, Mumford sings only harmonies, but attendees of the concert got to hear him sing a verse. Swift recorded several songs from Evermore in Mumford's home recording studio during the height of the pandemic, and he joined in on the track after stopping in to listen one day.

In a TikTok post after the show, Mumford shared the duo’s performance, captioning it, "you're a bandit like me @taylorswift."

Aaron Dessner

Octavio Jones/TAS23/Getty

Three Eras Tour stops have included Aaron Dessner . The first was the April 14 show in Tampa, where Dessner and Swift sang "The Great War" — also one of the two surprise songs of the night. He came back for a second night in a row to perform “Mad Woman” from Folklore. A month later, Dessner joined Swift again at one of her Nashville shows on May 7, where they sang  "Would've, Could've, Should've" in the pouring rain.

Phoebe Bridgers

John Shearer/TAS23/Getty

Indie singer Phoebe Bridgers opened for some shows in the Eras tour — and on her first night as an opener, Bridgers returned to the stage to sing “Nothing New” with Swift, from Red (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault) . For the rest of the May shows, the song held a permanent spot on the setlist, so Bridgers joined Swift for shows in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

Jack Antonoff

Kevin Mazur/TAS23/Getty

Any Swiftie knows that Jack Antonoff plays a major role in the making of many of Swift's songs. During her first New Jersey show on May 26, Fans were elated when she brought Antonoff out to sing Reputation hit "Getaway Car" and play their guitars, as the making of the song was documented in Swift's 2020 Miss Americana documentary.

On May 27, the day Swift announced the release of a remix version of "Karma" featuring Ice Spice , the rapper made an appearance at the end of the New Jersey show to perform the song alongside Swift. Ice Spice ended up sticking around, joining Swift for all three of her New Jersey concerts.

Maren Morris

Chicago fans were in for a treat when Swift brought one of her "favorite artists," as she said that night, Maren Morris , onstage on June 3. For the first time, the duo performed their song, "You All Over Me," from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault) as they strummed their guitars.

Morris took to TikTok after the show to share the performance, writing "Thank you so much for having me @Taylor Swift . Your generosity to me in these last 7 years is insurmountable and I love you so."

She added on Instagram , "We finally got to play 'You All Over Me' and I won't ever be shutting up about it."

ABOUT THE POINTER SISTERS:

The Pointer Sisters have enjoyed a long and successful career in the music industry. They began their formal vocal training in their father’s church, The Church of God in West Oakland, California. They went on to achieve world-wide fame and have secured a place in pop music history. In 2017, Billboard listed them as one of the Top 5 female groups of all time.

Their 1973 debut album quickly earned them mainstream success and they landed all over radio, television and the Billboard charts. In 1975, the quartet won their first Grammy Award for a country-western tune, “Fairytale”, written by Anita and Bonnie Pointer. As a result, the sisters became the first black female group to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. The “King” himself, Elvis Presley, recorded their song on his last studio album. The group hit the big screen in 1976 in the film Car Wash , starring Richard Pryor. That same year, they recorded their fourth and final album as a quartet.

When the sisters became a trio, consisting of Anita, June and Ruth, they decided to record a rock n’ roll album. The trio’s debut single, Bruce Springsteen’s “Fire”, went to #2 on the pop charts and began a string of chart success. The song “He’s So Shy” became an anthem for the women’s movement and the single “Slow Hand” was a sultry, sexy song with some radio stations at the time refusing to play it. Nevertheless, the song reached #2 on the charts and remains a favorite.

The title of their 1983 album summed up exactly what the trio was about to do: Break Out . Upon its release, critics called the new album “The Pointer Sisters at their sassiest, brassiest, up-tempo best.”  When Ruth took the lead for “Automatic”, her deeper-than-deep vocals practically leapt off the vinyl, and helped the single go all the way to #5. With the advent of 24-hour-a-day music on television, The Pointer Sisters became one of the first black acts to have their videos played in heavy rotation on MTV. “Jump (for my love)” raced to #3 on the pop charts and “I’m So Excited” hit the Top 10! To date, the song has been played over 2.5 million times on radio. “Neutron Dance” featuring gospel-spiked shouts rose to #6 on the charts and was included in the hit film, Beverly Hills Co p. The success of the album earned the sisters two Grammy Awards and two American Music Awards. Break Out was certified triple-platinum, making it the biggest selling album of The Pointer Sisters’ career. Their next album achieved platinum success and produced the hit single “Dare Me” and another American Music Award. Before the decade was over, the sisters starred in their own TV special on NBC.

Over the years, the group has received many awards and accolades, including a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They’ve recorded sixteen albums, plus a cast album to highlight their 46 week tour of the musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ . They were honored to take part in the recording of “We Are The World.”

In recent years, the group has performed with some of the greatest symphony orchestras in the world, including San Francisco, Jacksonville, Atlanta’s Symphony Orchestra and the renowned Boston Pops. Ruth Pointer continues to perform the music of The Pointer Sisters all over the globe with her daughter and granddaughter.

Till Lindemann is leaving Rammstein behind in 2024.

Starting in September, the bombastic frontman will embark on his first solo U.S. tour with special guests Twin Temple and Aesthetic Perfection in support of his 2023 solo album “Zunge.”

Midway through the fall run, the 61-year-old drops into New York’s The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

While this will be Lindemann’s first solo stateside jaunt, it won’t be the first time he’s performed without Rammstein.

Most recently, he wrapped an international 2023-24 solo tour in Mexico, according to Set List FM . On that run, he regularly performed 19 songs — including two encores — per show.

While we can’t guarantee what he’ll bring to the stage on his forthcoming North American tour, we do know the best way to find out is live.

Can’t wait to see the lively Lindemann?

You’re in luck. Tickets can be snagged for all of his 2024 U.S. and Canada concerts and festival appearances as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 26, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Till Lindemann tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Till Lindemann festival appearances

This September and October, Lindemann will lend his talents to a pair of heavy multi-day musical extravaganzas.

For a closer look, here are the dates, venues and fellow headliners at both festivals.

Till Lindemann set list

As noted above, Lindemann wrapped his 2023-24 in Mexico on Jan. 4.

Here’s what he performed that night, courtesy of Set List FM .

01.) “Zunge” 02.) “Schweiss” 03.) “Fat” 04.) “Altes Fleisch” 05.) “Allesfresser” 06.) “Golden Shower” 07.) “Tanzlehrerin” 08.) “Ich weiß es nicht” 09.) “Sport frei” 10.) “Blut” 11.) “Praise Abort” 12.) “Platz Eins” 13.) “Fish On” 14.) “Gummi” 15.) “Steh auf” Encore

16.) “Knebel” 17.) “Ich hasse Kinder” 18.) “Skills in Pills” Encore II

19.) “Entre dos tierras” (Héroes del Silencio cover)

Till Lindemann new music

On Nov. 3, 2023, Lindemann dropped his solo album “Zunge.”

Comprised of 11 tracks, the heavy rocker stretches his musical muscles and alternates between intimate quiet and chaotic, epic loud — the sound Rammstein is known for — with ease.

Highlights include the quirky “Sports Frei,” thumping “Altes Fleisch” and the warbly anthem “Du hast kein Herz.”

Personally, we were most taken with the Ennio Morricone-esque “Tanzlehrerin” with its guitar licks, yearning vocals and gifted yet pained backing singer giving her all behind Lindemann.

Don’t sleep on the shockingly fun album closer “Selbst verliebt,” either. It’s an unexpected pop delicacy.

Want to hear for yourself?

You can listen to “Zunge” in its entirety here .

On Christmas 2023, Lindemann followed up the album release with the whirly, tongue-trilling single “Entre dos tierras” en español.

It has our stamp of approval as well; the song is quite a bit of fun.

Till Lindemann special guests

At all shows, Lindemann will be joined by a pair of opening acts.

To make sure you’re acquainted with their sounds, you can find each band’s most-streamed song on Spotify below.

Twin Temple: “Lucifer, My Love”

Aesthetic Perfection: “Spit It Out”

Till Lindemann controversy

Lindemann was accused of sexual assault by a female fan last June over social media. She alleged he drugged her at a pre-show Rammstein VIP party in Lithuania and later approached her fox sex during intermission.

This led to a backlash against Rammstein’s “VIP Experience;” fans believed Lindemann was using the ticket tier to bed fans.

After looking into the case, German prosecutors dropped the case due to a lack of evidence and testimony.

“The rapid termination of investigative proceedings by the Berlin state prosecutor’s office shows that there is insufficient evidence that our client allegedly committed sexual offen(s)es,” Lindemann’s lawyers said.

Rammstein drummer claimed Lindemann “has distanced himself from us in recent years and created his own bubble” and “things seem to have happened that, although legally ok, I personally don’t think are ok.”

Huge metal acts on tour in 2024

If Lindemann’s brief jaunt isn’t coming to a venue near you, we have just the solution.

Here are five metal acts that might be headed to your city these next few months.

•  Rob Zombie with Alice Cooper

•  Limp Bizkit
