Lahirnya  Safari Dharma Raya  tidak dipisahkan dari jasa dan sejarah panjang yang diprakarsai oleh  Oei Bie Lay (OBL).   Berawal dari kendala penduduk Temanggung dalam mengangkut hasil bumi pada tahun 1951,  Oei Bie Lay  melihat peluang besar untuk melayani permintaan sekaligus mengembangkan bisnis ekspedisi di daerahnya. Bermodalkan 2 (dua) kendaraan mini bus hasil rakitan dan/atau modifikasi dari mobil sedannya,  Oei Bie Lay  memulai bisnis ekspedisinya dalam label  Perusahaan Truk Hien .  Dalam perkembangannya, tingginya kebutuhan mobilitas masyarakat antar kota membuat Oei Bie Lay melakukan ekspansi layanan perusahaan. Dengan 5 (lima) bus yang tersedia,  OBL  membuka layananan Bus antar kota dengan rute  Temanggung – Magelang – Candiroto dan Temanggung – Wonosobo – Purwokerto  di bawah nama perusahaan perseorangan  Safari Dharma Raya .  Sesuai dengan semangat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat,  Safari Dharma Raya  pun terus melakukan pengembangan layanan. Salah satunya adalah dengan menambah layanan bus malam antar kota antar provinsi pada tahun  1971  dan membuat trayek  Temanggung – Surabaya – Malang dan Yogyakarta – Jakarta  pada tahun  1975 .  Hasil kerja keras pun berbuah manis. Pada tahun  1981 , Safari Dharma Raya terdaftar secara resmi sebagai Perseroan Terbatas dalam naungan  PT. Safari Dharma Sakti  sebagai penyedia layanan transportasi dan pengiriman paket cepat antar kota antar provinsi.  Melanjutkan komitmen dalam melayani kebutuhan transpotasi masyarakat, 2 (dua) putra  Oie Bie Lay, Hendro Darmajuwono  dan  Santoso Darmojuwono , memimpin koordinasi perusahaan sebagai komisaris dan direktur utama  PT. Safari Dharma Sakti  sejak tahun  1989 .  Dalam perjalanannya, terjadi pergantian susunan kepemimpinan  PT. Safari Dharma Sakti,  yaitu  Setiawati Darmajuwono  sebagai komisaris dan  Hendro Darmajuwono  sebagai direktur. Hal ini terjadi selepas wafatnya  Santoso Darmajuwono  pada tahun 2011. Pada tahun 1971, Safari Dharma Raya menambah layanan bus malam antar kota antar provinsi.

Setelah itu, dia juga membuat trayek Temanggung – Surabaya – Malang dan Yogyakarta – Jakarta di tahun 1975.

Dengan usaha yang keras, Safari Dharma Raya menunjukkan progress yang signifikan.

Most Beautiful Metro Stations in Moscow

Visiting Moscow? Get yourself a metro card and explore Moscow’s beautiful metro stations. Moscow’s world-famous metro system is efficient and a great way to get from A to B. But there is more to it; Soviet mosaic decorations, exuberant halls with chandeliers, colourful paintings and immense statues. Moscow’s metro is an attraction itself, so take half a day and dive into Moscow’s underground!

The best thing to do is to get on the brown circle (number 5) line since the most beautiful metro stations are situated on this line. The only exception is the metro stop Mayakovskaya one the green line (number 2). My suggestion is to get a map, mark these metro stops on there and hop on the metro. It helps to get an English > Russian map to better understand the names of the stops. At some of the metro stops, the microphone voice speaks Russian and English so it’s not difficult at all.

Another thing we found out, is that it’s worth taking the escalator and explore the other corridors to discover how beautiful the full station is.

These are my favourite metro stations in Moscow, in order of my personal preference:

1. Mayakovskaya Station

The metro station of Mayakovskaya looks like a ballroom! Wide arches, huge domes with lamps and mosaic works make your exit of the metro overwhelming. Look up and you will see the many colourful mosaics with typical Soviet pictures. Mayakovskaya is my personal favourite and is the only stop not on the brown line but on the green line.

2. Komsomolskaya Station

Komsomolskaya metro station is famous for its yellow ceiling. An average museum is nothing compared to this stop. Splendour all over the place, black and gold, mosaic – again – and enormous chandeliers that made my lamp at home look like a toy.

3. Novoslobodskaya Station

The pillars in the main hall of Novoslobodskaya metro station have the most colourful stained glass decorations. The golden arches and the golden mosaic with a naked lady holding a baby in front of the Soviet hammer and sickle, make the drama complete.

4. Prospect Mira Station

The beautiful chandeliers and the lines in the ceiling, make Prospekt Mira an architectural masterpiece.

5. Belorusskaya Station

Prestigious arches, octagonal shapes of Socialistic Soviet Republic mosaics. The eyecatcher of Belorusskaya metro station, however, is the enormous statue of three men with long coats, holding guns and a flag.

6. Kiyevskaya Station

The metro station of Kiyevskaya is a bit more romantic than Belorusskaya and Prospect Mira. Beautiful paintings with classical decorations.

7. Taganskaya Station

At the main hall Taganskaya metro station you will find triangle light blue and white decorations that are an ode to various Russians that – I assume – are important for Russian history and victory. There is no need to explore others halls of Taganskaya, this is it.

8. Paveletskaya Station

Another and most definitely the less beautiful outrageous huge golden mosaic covers one of the walls of Paveletskaya. I would recommend taking the escalator to the exit upstairs to admire the turquoise dome and a painting of the St Basil’s Cathedral in a wooden frame.

Travelling with Moscow’s metro is inexpensive. You can have a lot of joy for just a few Rubbles.

It’s absolutely beautiful! Moscow is a great city trip destination and really surprised me in many ways.

My partner and I did a self guided Moscow Metro tour when we were there 2 years ago. So many breathtaking platforms…I highly recommend it! Most of my favorites were along the Brown 5 line, as well. I also loved Mayakovskaya, Arbatskaya, Aleksandrovski Sad and Ploshchad Revolyutsii. We’re heading back in a few weeks and plan to do Metro Tour-Part 2. We hope to see the #5 stations we missed before, as well as explore some of the Dark Blue #3 (Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Bul’var, for sure), Yellow #8 and Olive #10 platforms.

Tsaritsyno: The idyllic palace park where Muscovites escape the big city (PHOTOS)

Tsaritsyno Park offers one of the most impressive examples of Russian garden design from the 18 th and 19 th centuries. Located in southern Moscow, it is just a short walk from (you guessed it!) Tsaritsyno metro station .

Visitors often crowd around an enormous fountain near the park’s entrance, but you’ll find the palace towers a bit farther away among the trees.  

The estate originally belonged to Dimitrie Cantemir, a Moldavian prince allied with Imperial Russia. He built a church and a wooden palace on the site .

His French-style garden was designed according to the baroque architectural styles of that time and included pathways and flowerbeds that were made according to strict geometrical rules .

Catherine the Great fell in love with the estate so much that she decided to buy it. At the time, English-style gardens that artistically imitated natural landscapes were popular, and so two gardeners named John Munro and Francis Reid were brought over from England to work on the estate .

There’s nothing better than wandering through the forest along the winding cobblestone pathways, which are lined with antique statues and pavilions with huge pillars. As you walk, you hear the melodic singing of birds, which heightens the whole experience and takes you away from the chaos of the city center .

Monument to the architects Vasilii Bazhenov and Matvei Kazakov

Tsaritsyno’s construction began in 1779 under the supervision of architect Vasili Bazhenov. Unfortunately, just as construction work was almost complete, Catherine visited the palace and expressed dissatisfaction with its design. In 1785, she ordered the palace to be demolished and rebuilt. This time, she tasked Matvey Kazakov, one of Bazhenov’s students, with overseeing the project .

Kazakov designed a three-story building that he hoped would capture the glory of Catherine’s reign. However, when work was suspended for three years due to a lack of funds, the empress ordered him to alter the plans, advising him to construct a two-story building and simplify the design of the roof .

Following Catherine’s death in 1796, work on the project came to a standstill once again, and the unfinished palace was left in ruins throughout the 19 th century. Local residents ransacked the place, removing window frames as well as stone walls .

Between 1950 and 1980, the ruins of the Grand Palace even became an unexpected rock-climbing site .

This finally changed between 2006 and 2007, when the city undertook a huge construction project to restore the park and architectural complex, bringing it back to its original beauty and splendor .

The main building still contains ornate reception rooms, but the annexes have been turned into a museum.

You might even stumble upon a ballroom scene in the middle of the forest, like something straight out of a movie, except with older people gathering to dance to electro or disco music .

These vast green spaces serve as a haven for Muscovites looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find respite in a tranquil, serene setting. A lot of people come here just to lounge on the grass, play badminton or take a peaceful stroll in the shade .

If you wander around the forest, you might even come across a strange sight under the treetops: a sacred site maintained by local followers of Shamanism. Here you’ll find totem poles decorated with ribbons, symbols and all sorts of offerings, such as pieces of bread, semolina or candy (which you can see being stolen from right under our noses by a squirrel in the picture above).
