Excited for the tour, frontman Justin Hawkins cheekily commented, "You there, in the Americas — hear me, and hear me well: The Darkness know your pain, know that you have cried yourselves to sleep every night, bereft of quality English rock music. Fans should expect to hear new songs off Motorheart , as well as all the hits. The Dead Deads will open on all dates, with tickets available via Ticketmaster .

“You there, in the Americas — hear me, and hear me well: The Darkness know your pain, know that you have cried yourselves to sleep every night, bereft of quality English rock music,” Justin Hawkins said in a statement. “Well, desist from weeping and pull up your fully grown adult pants — salvation is upon you! As doctors, we UNDERSTAND the healing power of rock music and we have instructed our minions to make arrangements for us to visit your moderately distant shores.”

He added, “The cryogenically sealed Tupperware box of roadies has been set to ‘Thor’; and the mighty winged chariot has been dusted off. Remember — one lick of Darkness sweat and you will be cured — you will literally walk again, without COVID or anything! But what price freedom and eternal life, I hear you ask? To you sir, about thirty bucks (plus local taxes and booking fee). Now get the f**k in!”

The Darkness Set for North American Tour in 2022

The Darkness  believe in a thing called touring, and they're going to be doing plenty of it in 2022.

They're hitting the road for a two-month North American trek that commences on March 9 in San Diego and concludes on April 24 in Boston, with support from the Dead Deads. Tickets go on sale on Monday and can be purchased through the band's website .

You can see the full list of tour dates below.

“You there, in the Americas — hear me, and hear me well: The Darkness know your pain, know that you have cried yourselves to sleep every night, bereft of quality English rock music," frontman Justin Hawkins said in a statement. "Well, desist from weeping and pull up your fully grown adult pants — salvation is upon you! ... But what price freedom and eternal life, I hear you ask? To you sir, about thirty bucks (plus local taxes and booking fee). Now get the fuck in!”

The Darkness released their seventh LP,  Motorheart , in November. UCR described the album as "hard rock with a decidedly power-pop way of thinking" and declared, "The Darkness' rock 'n' roll sounds like one of the genre's last great hopes, all delivered with a wink, a smile and an armful of killer riffs."

The Darkness descends on America; be ready to get sweaty, bassist says

the darkness tour 2022

Lounging in a bathrobe, sprawled on a bed in his home in the English countryside, The Darkness' bassist Frankie Poullain took time recently for a Zoom interview, touting the band's first North American tour in four years.

You remember The Darkness: Those straight-up, throwback rockers from the U.K., brimming with harmonic bombast, mischievous humor and swagger. Singer Justin Hawkins still hits those high notes that make jaws drop and ears stand at attention.

The Darkness exploded onto the scene in 2003, with "I Believe in a Thing Called Love," a gleefully catchy song championed among the rock 'n' roll revival of the early Aughts. In November, The Darkness released "Motorheart," the band's sixth and most vital album since its rookie effort.

The popular Poullain, frontman Hawkins, rhythm guitarist-sibling Dan Hawkins and drummer Rufus Tiger Taylor (son of Queen drummer Roger Taylor) return to North America this month, with a seven-week tour with support act The Dead Deads that reaches Jergel's Rhythm Grille in Warrendale on April 16, followed by April 18 at Webster Hall in New York;  April 20 at Town Ballroom in Buffalo, N.Y.; April 22  at  Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, N.J. and April 23 at Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia.

Devilish glee with Ghost & Twin Temple: Concert review: Twin Temple, Ghost & Volbeat

Guitar ace Granati talks favorite axe: My Favorite Guitar: David Granati

Poullain tells us what to expect.

Imagine his thick Scottish brogue — if not the white, striped bathrobe — as you read his answers here:

Q: Congrats on the new album. That's you playing the opening riff, right?

A: On "Welcome tae Glasgae," right. That was a one-note bass line. When I did it, Dan said, "Don't move. Just keep playing that." And he wouldn't let me change chords until the second verse. So I'm just playing that one note all the way through to the chorus.

Q: That's the song about Glasgow, with the lyric "The women are gorgeous, the food is OK." Is that going to get you guys in trouble next time you visit a Glasgow restaurant?

A: I think that's Justin's way of being fun and warm-hearted, because everyone knows in Scotland the food is pretty lousy. He's being quite generous saying it's OK. That's diplomacy. You have to be diplomatic if you're an English guy talking about Scotland because Scottish people are very sensitive when it comes to the English, because of the Colonial past.

Q: You've released several fun music videos for "Motorheart." Are there visual elements to your show?

A: Depends what we're bringing with us. This morning I was up at the U.S. Embassy. We were frantically trying to rush everything through at the last minute and it looks like we were going to get most of the light show we had for the U.K. so, yeah, there's going to be some stuff going on there. But at the end of the day, it's a traditional rock and roll gig, so we don't want too much to distract. It's almost like the bands that have full-on light shows have got something to hide, you know? Or they're compensating for something that's not going on. Some of the best gigs I've seen, the lights just didn't matter at all. Like Iggy Pop; it doesn't matter if the lights are there.

Q: How does it feel to be getting back on the road?

A: The first time we came back to the road was the U.K. tour, which was just November and December, and that was wild. But this time, we're actually flying somewhere to another country for the first time in four years. Normally, we're in The States every two years, so this is the longest time we've ever had off, so I can't tell you how excited I am. We're just chomping at the bit. This is the longest U.S. tour we've ever done, seven weeks.

Q: New song "Jussy's Girl" introduces many of us to a new term, 'Sehr gut.' What's the origins of that?

A: That's just Justin can't stand conventional rhymes. like "maybe/baby," and just obvious words, so he's always looking for original ways. He's a very inventive lyricist when it comes to rock music. We're very aware things are stale in the rock vocabulary. So he'll find interesting ways of doing it. And so that means "very good" in German. It allows us to get a little bit Rammstein on it.

Q: What's your favorite thing about playing bass for The Darkness?

A: When Justin runs over to me and tries to claw at my strings when I'm playing just to put me off and make me smile. But generally speaking, just playing with two virtuosos on guitar. It's amazing, really. It just means I need to be steady and a bit tough sounding. I like to be tough, but not too clever. Because I don't think that's what The Darkness is about, being clever. I like to be gutsy, and raw and not just overthinking.

Q: Why are you the only one not crying in the music video for "Nobody Can See Me Cry"?

A: That's because I'm Scottish, and the Scottish are the most stoic of all the countries. And there's no way a guy from my generation coming from Scotland can cry in a music video. I mean there's a tiny bit. But that was the smoke making me cry.

Q: Put yourself in the head of fans: After two years of craziness, what are they craving from a show by The Darkness?

A: I think they don't know what they crave because people have been so cut off from their natural human instincts and behavior. But I think what people really need is pheromones and they need to be standing next to other people in a sweaty club with the air conditioning switched off and have a few drinks, go dance to some rock and roll and see what happens. See where the night takes them. People need to be wild again, and spontaneous and just live a little and be fatalist again, because we've been all controlled by fear. There's so much fear-mongering these days because of clickbait and people living so long in their own head because they stare at that screen and go down these rabbit holes of conspiracy theories. It's very sad. Just means fear leads people's lives. It doesn't need to.

Q: Is it true you call your bass the Brown Bastard?

A: Yes. Just because brown is my favorite color. And the neck's been broken four times and each time it's glued back together it seems to sound better. I feel that's because it takes on human qualities. It's struggled and been abused but it's come out stronger on the other side.

Q:  Anything else you want to say about the tour or album, or what do you want people to know about The Darkness in 2022?

A:  I just want to say we're going to lose ourselves seven weeks in The States. We're gonna completely lose ourselves and make up for lost time. We're just gonna leave our guts on the stage every night, and I just can't wait.

Scottie Scheffler leads 2024 RBC Heritage by 5 but will have to wait until Monday for another jacket

S cottie Scheffler will have to wait until Monday to add another colorful jacket to his closet and become the first reigning Masters champion to win the RBC Heritage the following week since Bernhard Langer in 1985.

One week after Scheffler slipped into the famed Green Jacket awarded to the Masters champ for the second time in three years, only Mother Nature could delay the 27-year-old Texan from winning the Heritage’s trademark Tartan Jacket on Sunday in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Inclement weather suspended play for more than two hours, preventing the completion of play before darkness.Play will resume on Monday at 8 p.m. ET. Scheffler was 4-under through 15 holes in the final round and 20-under overall when play was suspended due to darkness, and five shots ahead of Wyndham Clark (65) and Patrick Cantlay (who is just off the 18th green playing his third shot) in his bid to win for the second straight week and for the fourth time in his last five starts. JT Poston (thru 17) and Sahith Theegala (thru 15) are also tied for second.

Scheffler is seeking his 10 th career Tour title since February 2022. He finished second in the only tournament he did not win during his recent run of success. As a result, Scheffler's already has surpassed more than $15 million in earnings this season and would be in line to bank another $3.6 million if he hangs on for the win.

After winning the Masters, Scheffler flew home to Dallas to be with his pregnant wife Meredith and didn’t show up to Hilton Head until Tuesday. He played only a nine-hole practice round on Wednesday and spotted much of the field a head start on Thursday, shanking a bunker shot at his third hole in the first round, making double bogey and needing two late birdies to post 69. He trailed by six and complained of fatigue. But after recharging his batteries, he didn’t make a single bogey or worse. He shot 65 on Friday and was lurking three back before reminding everyone who is boss with a bogey-free 63 to claim a two-stroke lead.

Scheffler laid down the hammer early, chipping in at the par-5 second hole from 53 feet for eagle. It marked his 11 th hole-out of the season. He tacked on a birdie at the par-5 fifth and strung together six consecutive pars before the horn blew.

https://twitter.com/golfoncbs/status/1782113614389714947?s=43&t=ZSb77WMEXsiO-cVoeW7AwA

Wyndham Clark mounted an early charge, making an eagle and six birdies in his first 11 holes to inch within a stroke of the lead. But his effort to run down Scheffler was spoiled at the 12 th hole when Clark’s tee shot sailed right into a stand of trees and he tried to punch between them. His ball struck a tree and ricocheted out of bounds. He made double bogey.

"It was kind of fun for a little bit," Clark said. "Seemed like maybe we had a chance to do something crazy."

Play was suspended due to inclement weather at 4:28 p.m. ET, with Scheffler, one of 18 players in the field needing to complete his round, in the fairway on the 11 th hole. Play resumed after a two-hour, 32-minute delay. Scheffler proceeded to wedge to 6 feet at the short par-4 13 th and reach 20 under. He had played 53 consecutive holes without scoring a four or better, dating to the 15 th hole in his first round. But at 15, he complained of a mud ball that sent his 4-iron layup at the par 5 to the left and into a penalty area. Scheffler’s streak with no worse than a four on the scorecard ended, but he holed an 11-foot par putt to remain at 20 under with three holes to go.

How dominant has Scheffler been this week? He tops the field of 69 in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, SG: Tee to Green, SG: Approach the Green and scrambling.

"The only thing that can stop Scottie is Meredith going into labor," CBS's Jim Nantz said. "It's true, he's said it all along."

Scottie Scheffler wins RBC Heritage, fourth in 5 PGA Tour events

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA - APRIL 21: Scottie Scheffler looks to hit a tee shot on the 10th hole during the final round of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links on April 21, 2024 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. (Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images)

Scottie Scheffler’s season of excellence continued Sunday at the RBC Heritage. He finished it up on Monday with a three-stroke victory, claiming the event’s signature tartan jacket to go with his green jacket.

He’s the first player to win four starts in a five-star stretch since Tiger Woods in 2007-08. He’s the first person since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to follow up a Masters win with a win the following week (Langer also won at Harbour Town). Gary Player in 1978 and Jimmy Demaret in 1950 also accomplished the feat.

Scheffler has also won the Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational during this stretch. In the Houston Open, he finished in a tie for second, and missed a putt to force a playoff. Scheffler now has 10 career wins, all since February 2022.

“I’m just maturing as a person. On the course mentally the last month or so is as good mentally as I’ve been in a long time, and I think that’s why I’m seeing some of the results,” Scheffler told Golf Channel after the win.

Play was called due to darkness Sunday at the event at Harbour Town Links in Hilton Head, S.C., with Scheffler five strokes ahead and three holes to play. There was a 2 1/2 hour weather delay from 4:28 p.m. until 7 p.m. that forced the PGA Tour into a Monday finish.

When he returned Scheffler finished the final three holes in 45 minutes. His bogey on 18 was his first bogey of the week. Sahith Theegala finished second at 16-under, with Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay tied for third at 15-under. Justin Thomas was among the group tied for fifth, a good week for the embattled star.

Scheffler punctuated Sunday with a head-shaking 15th hole — he had an exceedingly rare mishit with his second shot, going just left into the water. As he was taking the drop, CBS attempted to foreshadow what was coming by flashing a graphic that it had been 65 holes since Scheffler had a double bogey. The streak continued. He hit his approach shot with spin, landed on the slope and rolled it to 11 feet. The horn sounded to end play but Scheffler was allowed to finish the hole — he drained the putt, pumped his fist like he had just won the tournament and exited to a waiting golf cart.

Scheffler did not show up at Hilton Head until Wednesday after winning his second Masters, played nine holes in the pro-am and said he would see the rest of the course during his first round on Thursday. It was daring a signature event field to beat him, but instead, he shot a first-round 69, followed that up with a 65 on Friday and a 63 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead into Sunday.

“I played some really good golf in the middle of the tournament. It’s nice to be done,” Scheffler said.

Scheffler shot a final round 68. He is not in the field for this week’s Zurich Classic in New Orleans. It’s not clear yet if he’ll play before the PGA Championship from May 16-19 as he and his wife Meredith await the birth of their first child.

PGA Tour players learn how much loyalty is worth in new equity program

Players who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour amid lucrative recruitment by Saudi-funded LIV Golf are starting to find out how much that loyalty could be worth.

The PGA Tour on Wednesday began contacting the 193 players eligible for the $930 million from a “Player Equity Program” under the new PGA Tour Enterprises .

The bulk of that money — $750 million — went to 36 players based on their career performance, the last five years and how they fared in a recent program that measured their star power.

How much they received was not immediately known. Emails were going out Wednesday afternoon and Thursday informing players of what they would get. One person who saw a list of how the equity shares were doled out said the names had been redacted. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because many details of the program were not made public.

The Telegraph reported Tiger Woods was to receive $100 million in equity and Rory McIlroy could get $50 million, without saying how it came up with those numbers.

Commissioner Jay Monahan outlined the first-of-its-kind equity ownership program in a Feb. 7 memo to players, a week after Strategic Sports Group became a minority investor in the new commercial PGA Tour Enterprises.

The private equity group, a consortium of professional sports owners led by the Fenway Sports Group, made an initial investment of $1.5 billion that could be worth $3 billion. The tour is still negotiating with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the financial muscle behind the rival LIV Golf league — as an investor.

Any deal with PIF would most certainly increase the value of the equity shares.

Another person with knowledge of the Player Equity Program, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the dealings, said the equity money is not part of the SSG investment. That money was geared toward growth capital.

Golf.com received a series of informational videos on the Player Equity Program that was sent to players and reported only 50% of the equity would vest after four years, 25% more after six years and the rest of it after eight years.

It also reported how the 36 players from the top tier were judged on “career points,” such as how long they were full members, victories, how often they reached the Tour Championship and extra points for significant victories.

Jason Gore, the tour’s chief player officer, said in one of the videos, “It’s really about making sure that our players know the PGA Tour is the best place to compete and showing them how much the Tour appreciates them being loyal.”

Emails also were sent to 64 players who would share $75 million in aggregate equity based on the past three years, and $30 million to 57 players who are PGA Tour members. Also, $75 million in equity shares was set aside for 36 past players instrumental in building the tour.

The program has an additional $600 million in equity grants that are recurring for future PGA Tour players. Those would be awarded in amounts of $100 million annually started in 2025.

Players only get equity shares from one of the four tiers now, although everyone would be eligible for the recurring grants.

Even with equity ownership geared toward making the PGA Tour better, the concern was players questioning who got how much and whether they received their fair share.

LIV Golf lured away seven major champions dating to 2018 since it launched in 2022, all with guaranteed contracts and most of them believed to have topped $100 million.

McIlroy, playing this week in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was asked how much would make players feel validated for their decision to stay with the PGA Tour.

“I think the one thing we’ve learned in golf over the last two years is there’s never enough,” McIlroy replied.

Art Seeks Enlightenment in Darkness

Many artists are dimming the lights of their museum shows, for a mix of symbolic and spiritual reasons.

This article is part of our Museums special section about how institutions are striving to offer their visitors more to see, do and feel.

To enter Kehinde Wiley’s show “An Archaeology of Silence” is to step into darkness, where only the art itself seems to emit light. The space feels somewhere between a crypt and a cathedral, featuring paintings and bronze sculptures of reclining Black bodies, spread out in repose or entombed like corpses, that appear to glow from within.

The show, now at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston , culminates with a monumental sculpture of a fallen man on horseback, draped over the horse as if he had just been shot, his Nikes dangling below the saddle. Made in the year after George Floyd was killed by the police in Minneapolis , this monument — and more broadly, the show as a whole — confronts the “legacy and scope of anti-Black violence,” according to Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation.

A large painting hanging in a dark gallery. The painting, which shows a Black man prone on a grassy patch with a colorful patterned background.

While his particular blend of the contemporary and historical is all his own, Wiley is just one of several artists working these days to stage dramatically dark exhibitions. Across the country, visual artists are plunging visitors into museum spaces where you can hardly make out the wall labels in front of you, and not just for film and video.

In Southern California, Betye Saar has powerfully dimmed the lights for a new installation at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, “Drifting Toward Twilight,” which simulates the stages of nightfall. And for his show “Elegy,” which recently closed at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Dawoud Bey created a moody, nearly funereal environment for his black-and-white landscape photographs, taken on or near sites associated with the Underground Railroad and the Richmond Slave Trail.

Other examples appear on the commercial gallery front, from Anselm Kiefer’s brooding paintings in “Exodus ,” presented by Gagosian at the Marciano Art Foundation last year, to Tavares Strachan’s multipart racial excavation “Magnificent Darkness” at Marian Goodman this spring — both ambitious historical reckonings. Without going pitch black, which would create visitor accessibility and safety issues as well as obscure the artworks, these artists are finding ways to evoke darkness with a range of symbolic, psychological and spiritual overtones.

The most obvious implication of all these darkened exhibitions is that we are living in dark times, which is hard to refute. But artists and curators involved say it’s more nuanced than that, and these shows are not simply an expression of grief or mourning.

“What I wanted to do is create almost a kind of religious feeling,” Wiley wrote in the catalog for his “Archaeology” show. The lighting “compels you to encounter the works with a degree of devotion or reverence,” added Claudia Schmuckli, who curated a version of the exhibition at the de Young in San Francisco last year, following the works’ debut in Venice. (The American version will continue its tour after Houston to the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.) “It inscribes the artwork in a context of sacredness.”

As for the impression that Wiley’s artworks are lit from within, Schmuckli said that was just an illusion. In actuality, fixtures known as “framing projectors” are used to focus the light within the perimeter of a particular canvas and avoid spillage or shadows. Given their brilliant colors and this precise lighting, the paintings achieve some of the luminosity of stained glass.

Saar, too, used spiritual terms in discussing her installation, which occupies its own blue-tinted room deep in the American art building at the Huntington and runs through Nov. 30, 2025. It features a 17-foot-long wooden canoe from the 1940s, painted emerald green and set on a bed of branches and twigs that the artist made by collecting a dozen different plant species from the Huntington grounds. The boat carries a bizarre group of passengers: two carved wooden creatures sporting tall antlers and three metal bird cages containing antlers.

While the canoe doesn’t actually move, it takes a journey through time as the room’s lighting cycles every eight minutes through different hues, approximating the sun rising and setting. Most striking is the moment when the canoe is bathed in a dusky blue-violet glow, like a portal to another realm.

“Twilight is the magical time, we know that,” said the artist, who is 97 and compared her artwork’s lighting cycle to a human life cycle. “That’s when nothing is definite, it’s always changing, that’s the way life is.”

Yinshi Lerman-Tan, who co-curated this installation for the Huntington, explained that there were 27 lights in this room, 20 of which were programmed to change, and four different colors creating a gradient on the walls, starting with a “Galapagos Turquoise” at the bottom. She compares entering the room to walking into a James Whistler or J.M.W. Turner painting that delivers “this atmospheric space between ocean and sky.”

Betye is harnessing the other world of the cosmos and the other world of the ocean or sea,” she continued. “Those have both been career-long interests in her work.”

“My job is to create a space where the spirit can be aware,” said Saar, who has long used lighting to transport her viewers into different realms. She said she first learned “how important theatrical lighting is in setting the mood” when designing costumes for the theater in the late 1960s.

For Bey, controlling a room’s lighting offers a way of creating “emotional weight,” he said. The first time he dramatically transformed a space in this way was in 2021 for his survey at the Whitney Museum of American Art, for both aesthetic and practical reasons, including a desire to play video alongside photography. “It was a revelation to me,” he said. “The whole thing looked good, and there was quietude in that space that resulted. It creates a more contemplative experience. It heightens the individual drama of the work and encourages you to linger longer.”

To achieve this effect, though, Bey typically does not have to adjust the museum lighting levels much at all. Rather, he has the walls painted a rich, inky black that absorbs light, a Benjamin Moore color called Black Panther. “Once the light is not bouncing around the room, you don’t have to fine-tune the lighting as much — it’s a lot easier for the lighting crew actually,” Bey said.

He did this most recently for part of his show “Elegy” at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which culminated in the darkly toned, lushly printed gelatin-silver landscapes that make up “ Night Coming Tenderly, Black,” the series that imaginatively follows the path of the Underground Railroad, set against Black Panther. Valerie Cassel Oliver, the curator of “Elegy,” said there was an unintended visual effect in that gallery — the white photographic borders were reflected on the museum floors — but even that seemed richly symbolic. The visual echo, she said, “played into the sense that there was this glowing light of freedom, of self-emancipation, after the enslaved came through the horrors of the trans-Atlantic slave trade into this laborious life under bondage on these plantations.”

The idea that an artist’s vision might extend beyond the picture frame to include lighting can be a challenge for the most traditional, or hierarchical, museums. “Museum spaces are usually the purview of the exhibition design team working with the curator, and the artist is seldom involved,” Bey said. “Generally speaking, they like everybody to stay in their own lane.”

But that much is changing, said Bey, who was also able to work with the Getty to darken walls for a joint show with Carrie Mae Weems in 2023 and who notes that museums have become “much more receptive to artists” in recent years. Cassel Oliver agreed: “We know that encyclopedic museums have been risk-averse, but they are evolving and becoming a wonderful platform for living artists as well.”

In effect, these museums are following in the footsteps of alternative institutions, which have a long history of ceding control to contemporary artists to remake a space, floor to ceiling. For instance, when the Colombia-based artist Delcy Morelos requested skylights be covered for the first room of her exhibition “El abrazo” at Dia Chelsea, running until July 20, it wasn’t a huge ask, she said. “Dia is a very special institution when it comes to supporting artists — they never put a limit on me creatively.”

Morelos also kept artificial light to a minimum, only to be used at the end of day in a space she covered with nutrient-rich soil. The soil coats the floors, stacks of lumber and part of the walls—up to the water-mark created by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. In this case, Morelos said darkness was a tool or “material” she used to sharpen visitors’ other senses, like smell, so they’re more receptive for example to the scents of the moist earth, cinnamon and cloves embedded in the work.

Explaining the decision, she said through a translator: “Senses that are dormant when you have a lot of light will awaken, perhaps because of the sense of danger.” She compared her space to a “symbolic but also real” dreamscape as well as to a womb, describing a “fertile obscurity.”

“Seeds need darkness to germinate,” she added. Or, as James Baldwin once wrote, “One discovers the light in darkness, that is what darkness is for; but everything in our lives depends on how we bear the light.”

This comment was published in a 1964 book that Baldwin made with the photographer Richard Avedon. It also appeared this year at the Marian Goodman Gallery in Los Angeles, spelled out in flickering neon by the artist Tavares Strachan and placed prominently at the entrance of a dimly lit gallery, where his paintings and sculptures look like beacons in the night.
