Stone Town – City Tour

Discover fantastic heritage and history of the famous Stone Town (in Swahili "Mji Mkongwe").

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Stone Town has a rich history of sea traders, explorers, sultans and exotic spices. To truly appreciate Stone Town, it is best to explore it on foot with the guide who will lead you through the narrow and winding streets, telling you all about ancient secrets, stories and taking you to the sites where it all happened.

Stone Town – City Tour

Zanzibar Island is also known as Spice Island.

And if you have ever wondered why, the answer can be found on one of many spice farms or gardens which are located in the central part of the Island.

Dolphin Spotting Tour

A short and relaxing encounter with the beauty of Indian Ocean.

This is one of the Island's most popular and exciting excursions with an unique opportunity to see the numerous dolphins, which inhabit the sea in the southern part of the Island, known as Menai Bay Conservation Area.

Dolphin Spotting Tour

Jozani Forest

The forest in the heart of Chwaka Bay national park is the only remaining natural forest and the largest groundwater or swamp forest on the Island.

Described as a haven for nature lovers, it represents a rich mosaic of wide variety of wildlife and it is home to some endemic, endangered species. The most famous inhabitant of the Forest is rare Red Colobus Monkey which is indigenous to Zanzibar.

Jozani Forest

Prison Island

This tour can be combined as the afternoon part of a City or Spice Tour.

A historical site with prison ruins combined with nature walking trails, tortoise sanctuary and possibility to explore the Indian Ocean and sunbathe on the beach makes Prison Island one of the most popular tour choices.

Prison Island

Breezes Swahili Day

Celebrate Swahili Day in the Swahili way!

A wonderful opportunity to meet the local people of the Island in the nearby village of Bwejuu. This trip is one of our most popular excursions and it is organized as part of a community project, "Breezes for Bwejuu!"

The proceeds of the tour go directly to a fund, which we have set up to benefit the village. Some of the most notable contributions to date are the roofing and finishing of the School Library, school materials, books and medicines for the clinic. We also sponsor an outstanding student of the year award for each class. This is a special way that you can make a connection and assist us in making a difference for the people of Zanzibar.

Sunset Dhow Cruise

Step onto the deck of traditional dhow, relax and sail away on a magical sunset cruise to end your day.

The sunset cruise leaves in the late afternoon from Stone Town along the Unguja coast, slicing through the clear turquoise water. On your cruise you will be accompanied by a guide who will give you a tour of Stone Town from the water.

As you sail back towards the glimmering lights of Stone Town the Sun sets, changing the sky from shades of pink and blue to magnificent golden colors.

On Carnival Breeze, fun-fan faves like SportSquare ™ , and mouth-watering dining spots like Cucina del Capitano ® , are just the beginning of how this ship keeps the fun blazing. Speaking of blazing, enjoy the island atmosphere of the very cool RedFrog Rum Bar ® , or south-of-the-border taco goodness at BlueIguana Cantina ™ . There are many fish in the sea… and somewhere among the expertly-pruned bonsai trees, Bonsai Sushi ™ proves it. But don’t forget the ambiance of Guy's Burger Joint ™ — roadside-burger-shack style — featuring hot-off-the-grill burgers designed by celebrity chef Guy Fieri! Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse prides itself on premium cuts, cooked exactly the way you like 'em... plus gourmet appetizers and wine pairings. And to go just a little less refined, stop by Pizza Pirate for a hot slice, the Carnival Deli for a true classic, or Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse ™ to get a little messy with some signature — you guessed it — Guy Fieri BBQ. On this ship, you just can't get enough Guy! Carnival Breeze has the whole family covered — with water, that is — with a 320-foot-long Twister Waterslide ™ at Carnival WaterWorks ™ . Just for the kids there's supervised youth programs Camp Ocean ® , Circle 'C' ® and Club O2 ® . And for the bigger people, there's time to be spent doing blissfully nothing at Serenity Adults-Only Retreat ™ ... after pampering yourself at Cloud 9 Spa ™ , of course. Keep the fun going once the sun's done for the day by dancing in your seat at Playlist Productions ™ ... or if you prefer to do your dancing on a dance floor, check out Liquid Nightclub ™ . Speaking of liquid, Alchemy Bar ® serves up cocktail concoctions made with ingredients a little less ordinary and flavors a lot more interesting. Then there's always something funny going on at the Punchliner Comedy Club ™ . If you notice a bit of the outdoors inside, don't adjust your view. 10 Best Tour Companies That Will Make Your Next Vacation a Breeze

Shop on National Geographic

Best for history buffs

National geographic expeditions.

  • Trips around the globe
  • Behind-the-scenes access to NatGeo research and projects
  • Highly skilled scientists, photographers and historians accompany tours
  • Limited options for kids and families

For curious travelers who love to explore history, culture and archeology, National Geographic Expeditions is tops in its field. Highly trained NatGeo experts accompany trips and share their insights and insider knowledge with small groups of equally curious travelers. One recent traveler called the 10-day guided Human History trip to Spain and France to see paleolithic art and cave paintings “among the best trips of our lives,” also noting that the adults-only itinerary also felt like a romantic getaway .

  • Sample trip: Human History: Northern Spain and Southwest France

Shop on Adventures by Disney

Best for families

Adventures by disney.

  • Seamless transfers between locations
  • Highly trained guides
  • Special access to iconic sights
  • Adults-only itineraries offered infrequently

First, let’s dispel any notion of Mickey driving a tour bus, and there are no costumed characters on Adventures by Disney itineraries, which include myriad global destinations including Antarctica, Africa, Japan and Europe. What these tours do have, though, is the attention to detail and planning prowess that Disney is known for, plus a unique ability to offer special access to some of the world’s most impressive sights. Plus, of course, it’s one of the best tour companies for family vacations (although there are adults-only trips as well).

My family and I have traveled with Adventures by Disney to Yellowstone National Park and to Italy. Some of my favorite moments included private access to the Sistine Chapel for our group (approximately 26 people) and a “magical” ability for our bags to be transported from one hotel room to the next, especially impressive when I checked out of a Tuscan villa one morning and my suitcase was in a room with a view of Venice’s lagoon later that day. A recent traveler called the Peru trip “super fun and impeccably run” after exploring Machu Picchu and rafting down the Urubamba River.

  • Sample trip: Peru: Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco

Shop on Backroads

Best for biking

  • Range of bicycles available, including electric-assist E-bikes
  • Itineraries for couples, friends or solo travelers
  • Itineraries for families with older teens and 20-plus, a rarity
  • “Dolce Tempo” trip options offer an easygoing pace
  • Many trips are only offered seasonally, May to October

If you like active vacations and exploring the outdoors, then Backroads may be the perfect tour operator for you. They specialize in European itineraries both for adults-only and for families. Backroads also offers “multi-adventure” tours where, say, a biking trip in Spain will also offer surfing lessons and kayaking. One mom of two 20-somethings shared, “We’ve taken four multi-sport trips with Backroads, and each one was phenomenal.” The trip I have on my dream board is the “Bordeaux & Dordogne Bike Tour,” which includes stops at “grand wine estates” and Michelin-star restaurants, a perfect blend of calorie consumption and exercise.

  • Sample trip: Bordeaux Bike Tour

Shop on Brendan Vacations

Best for castles and royal lovers

Brendan vacations.

  • 50 years of experience
  • Option for a private chauffeur for smaller group travel
  • Partners with top hotels in the U.K. and Ireland

When I was ready to explore the rolling green hills of the Emerald Isle, Brendan Vacations was my first stop. They offer wonderfully immersive tours that loop you around the island, stopping at iconic sights such as the scenic Ring of Kerry, dramatic Cliffs of Moher and the Blarney Stone. Best of all, my tour stayed at Ashford Castle, a grand estate in Cong where my family and I were able to try falconry, stay in a room built in a real tower and eat our breakfast porridge in a chandelier-filled dining room, just as if we were staying as guests of a king or queen in a royal palace . Brendan also offers tours to Scotland, Northern Ireland and London and combinations of the four.

Shop on Road Scholar

Best for seniors

Road scholar.

  • Offers resources for at-home learning
  • Special “grandparent” trips for multigenerational travel
  • Solo travel options available
  • Many trips are two weeks or longer

With a focus on lifelong learning, Road Scholar is for travelers who embrace slower trips and deeper cultural explorations, and the company specializes in senior travel . Road Scholar extends its focus on education to online lectures and virtual tours to educate interested travelers on a destination. For example, for the Canadian Odyssey, the company’s suggested reading list includes 19 books for the 11-day trip. Road Scholars is especially popular with retirees and seniors, who tell us they appreciate traveling with like-minded folks. Looking for more options? Here are some more trips for seniors who love to travel.

Shop on Go Ahead Tours

Best for solo travelers

Ef go ahead tours.

  • No additional costs for a private room
  • Invite six friends on a tour, and you’ll earn a free spot
  • Travels to a wide array of destinations
  • The solo itineraries are so popular that most 2023 trips have a waitlist

Group tours are great for solo travelers who want the camaraderie of other travelers with the same interests for shared adventures. The one downside to most group tours is the dreaded “single supplement,” where a solo traveler might be charged a supplement that can almost double the cost. Not so with EF Go Ahead Tours, one of the best tour companies for single travelers, whose Solo Tours include a private room at no extra cost. The feedback we’ve gotten about EF is that their tours are “well-run and precisely organized.” Itineraries for their solo trips range from Egypt to Japan to most of Western Europe, like our sample Spain trip that includes both cultural and culinary highlights, including a cooking class.

  • Sample trip: Spain for Solo Travelers: Barcelona, Madrid & Seville

Shop on Insight Vacations

Best for in-depth itineraries

Insight vacations.

  • Comprehensive itineraries that include all major attractions
  • Free time and choice of activities for a more individual feel
  • Tours offered in smaller European destinations
  • Larger than average group size

When you want to see the best of a destination and know you’re not missing any “must-see” spots, Insight Vacations has you covered. A recent traveler told us she picked this Best of Italy 11-day trip through Italy “to see everything” and wasn’t disappointed. Another highlight of Insight is its wide selection of tours in smaller European destinations, such as Slovenia and Finland.

Shop on GeoCultura

Best for getting beneath the surface

  • No single supplement for solo travelers on many tours
  • Shorter itineraries available for long weekend getaways
  • Guides who are notable experts in their fields
  • Tours only available in England, Europe and North America

GeoCultura company grabbed my interest for its focus on geology—what’s happening not only on the surface of a destination but underneath it as well. Trips led by professors and specialists in the world of geology, paleontology and archaeology “dig in” to all the layers of a destination, so to speak. For the Rockies and Badlands tour, a guide who teaches “geology for non-geologists” at Canada’s Mount Royal University leads the quest to explore sedimentology, trace fossils and traverse diverse landscapes.

  • Sample tour: The Rockies and the Badlands: Geology and Dinosaurs in Canada

Shop on Wheel the World

Best for accessible travel

Wheel the world.

  • Large selection of destinations
  • Can plan quick trips for individual travel
  • Small group size, often 10 people or fewer
  • Trips fill up fast

One of the best tour companies in the accessible travel category, Wheel the World offers a platform of accessible tours , experiences and accommodations for disabled travelers. From international surf trips to rainforest tours, the company offers adventure trips in 40 destinations around the world and on every continent. Group tours are led by guides specially trained by the company to provide assistance to disabled travelers, and all itineraries have been tested to make sure they’re accessible, have adaptable bathrooms and provide the best travel experience. The Costa Rica trip, for example, includes amphibious wheelchair use in Arenal’s hot springs and use of trekking wheelchairs to explore Manuel Antonio National Park.

  • Sample trip: Costa Rica, a natural paradise

Shop on Audley

Best for curated itineraries

Audley travel.

  • Highly personalized trip itineraries
  • Options around the globe
  • Skilled in adventure travel trips
  • Limited option for group trips

Not all tour operators have large group tours. Audley Travel is a good example of a company that offers full-service trips that can be individualized for independent travelers. For example, I recently explored Namibia on a bucket list eight-night itinerary to four different Natural Selection safari lodges. Audley handled all the details, including international routing that was way more involved than I could have figured out on my own. I followed their itinerary, however I didn’t travel with a group, but instead with individual travelers who were following the same itinerary. (In other words, there is no tour leader and travelers are free to customize their itineraries.) In other cases, the company will create custom itineraries, and they do have some very small (around eight people) adventure mobile safari tours too.

  • Sample trip: Namibia flying safari

What to look for when booking a tour company

There are a lot of tour companies out there, so it can be difficult to find the one that’s right for you, especially if you’re traveling with a group for the first time. Here are a few factors to consider as you narrow down your search.

  • Cost: Because of their all-inclusive nature, tour company vacations can be more costly than traveling on a budget-friendly trip of your own. However, you get to skip the hours of research and logistics stress, which can be well worth it. Know your budget and what you’re willing to pay for versus do yourself as you plan your trip.
  • Flexibility: Some tours may be scheduled at the hour, while others may offer optional excursions or free time to explore your destination. Whether you’re ready to be chauffeured around or would rather have the opportunity to strike out on your own, there’s a tour company for you.
  • Special Interests: Many tours have themes that go beyond location, whether they dive into a specific era of history , focus on a certain type of cuisine, or lean into an outdoor activity. Traveling with a tour company can be a fitting opportunity to fuel your passion for travel and any other hobbies you might have.

Why you should trust us

How we found the best tour companies

To come up with the list of the best tour companies, we reached out to travel planners and other travel experts for their top picks. We also used our personal travel experience and checked in with travelers who have vacationed with these tour companies to get their first-hand reviews. Finally, we cross-checked our research with Tripadvisor’s star ratings to make sure we’ve picked the best of the best so that you can have the best group tour all-inclusive vacation no matter where you want to go.

Is it cheaper to travel with a tour company?

While booking a tour company can be more expensive than planning a trip yourself, it can also have financial benefits. Tour companies often have relationships with vendors, hotels and even airlines, allowing them to negotiate or get discounts on your behalf.

What is the difference between a tour company and a travel company?

Tour companies plan and package tours for travelers. In contrast, travel agents at travel companies  often serve as the intermediary between clients and tour companies, helping them to find the best fit. Travel agents may also create customized trips for travelers from transportation to lodging to itineraries.

What’s the major difference between a tour and a vacation package?

Tour packages are guided tours offered by a tour company, and vacation packages include all the logistical elements of a tour package, like transportation and lodging, without the tour guide. A vacation package is best suited for someone who doesn’t want to spend time planning a trip but also wants the flexibility to manage their own time at their destination.

Is it cheaper to book tours in advance?

Like airfare and hotels, booking a tour company earlier can save you cash. Some tour companies run early bird specials for those able to book months or even a year out. You may even see deals on Black Friday or other major shopping holidays.

Power Rankings: Corales Puntacana Championship

Power Rankings

Change Text Size

There are opportunities, and then there are opportunities. The Corales Puntacana Championship is, well, both.

The second Additional Event of 2024 is one of three tournaments with a PGA TOUR-long three consecutive breakthrough winners. Four of its six champions since debuting in 2018 were first-timers. But while a coronation awaits all in the field of 132 in the Dominican Republic, there are many secondary goals in play as well.

For details of what they are, how Corales Golf Club will play and more, continue reading below.

OTHER TO CONSIDER

  • Mark Hubbard … He’s cashed in all 10 starts in 2024 with a season-best T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he’s been teasing something special for a long time, notwithstanding his successful marriage proposal in 2015. Profiles best on shorter courses like those on that rota but he’s T5 in par-5 scoring and firing well enough on all cylinders in his prime to be a threat just about everywhere.
  • Rafael Campos … The native of Puerto Rico has been a long-time visitor to the Dominican Republic, so it’s not surprising at all that he’s never missed an edition of this tournament despite limited action as a PGA TOUR member. His career-best finish occurred at Corales Puntacana in 2021 when he fell one short of pushing Joel Dahmen into a playoff. With a similar ethos with which he’s familiar at home, it’s like a sixth major even though he’s never made a start in a defined major and the Puerto Rico Open (on paspalum) is the non-major nearest and dearest. It’s also where he recorded a season-best T18 a little over a month ago.
  • Chan Kim … After a few flashes of his potential sprinkled across six seasons, including nine starts in 2021-22 that eliminated his rookie eligibility as a first-time member in 2024, the 34-year-old has found a pocket that allows his ball-striking to shine. He’s cashed in seven straight upon arrival and eight overall with a T8 on paspalum at the Mexico Open at Vidanta and a pair of T14s, including his most recent start at the Valero Texas Open. A weapon has been his play with the cut line in view. Currently fifth on TOUR in second-round scoring average with nothing but scores of par and better contributing.

Additional Events, like this annual trip to the eastern edge of Hispaniola, pay forward into so many objectives.

That’s an important lane because winners of opposite events don’t automatically qualify for Signature Events, just as they don’t get into the next Masters with the same victory. However, berths into the 2024 PGA Championship and the 2025 editions of The Sentry and THE PLAYERS Championship are promised.

The Corales Puntacana champ also banks 300 FedExCup points and will be set with a PGA TOUR membership exemption in the winners category through 2026.

At 7,670 yards, Corales Golf Club is long by anyone’s standards, but it’s a stock par 72 that’s surrendered scoring averages from a half-shot to a full shot under par most of the time. That’s a proper target again this week as the weather will be seasonable, so it will be predictable. Passing clouds will cover daytime highs in the low 80s while prevailing breezes pushing in from easterly directions will be steady but not significant.

Corales Puntacana is the third track in the last nine weeks that’s blanketed with paspalum, specifically Supreme. The fourth and final course on TOUR equipped with paspalum is El Cardonal at Diamante, host of the World Wide Technology Championship in the FedExCup Fall. Paspalum has paid off handsomely for a subset of veterans, including Garnett who prevailed in the inaugural edition at Corales Puntacana in 2018. His victory in Puerto Rico a month ago also was on the surface.

As a resort course, fairways at Corales Puntacana are welcoming. The field can have at it off the tee as the only rough is just an inch or so deep, but average-sized greens prepped to run 12½ feet on the Stimpmeter help protect scoring.

While Quail Hollow Club, which will host the Wells Fargo in three weeks, never will be confused with Corales Golf Club, the duo shares a trio of challenging holes at the conclusion of their rounds. Before the field at Quail Hollow contends with The Green Mile that wraps that trek, this week’s entrants will be tackling The Devil’s Elbow, a par-4-3-4 test at the finish line. Each of the holes has averaged over par in all five editions of the tournament when it’s been held in the spring. So, there’s likely to be more surrendering of a lead than emerging to grab it late.

NOTE: ShotLink is not utilized for this tournament.

2024 Masters weather forecast: Thursday thunderstorms, strong breezes lead into ideal weekend in Augusta

This year's masters could get off to a slow start before the action heats up over the weekend.

masters-umbrella-rain-getty-13.jpg

Adverse weather has affected every Masters since 2019, and this year looks to be no different. Early thunderstorms have the potential to delay first-round action at the 88th Masters as rain is forecasted to hit Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday morning. How much golf is able to be played on the first day will be something to follow, as once the rain clouds and electricity subside, ideal conditions will be presented to players for the remainder of the 2024 Masters.

The winds will join the precipitation as a factor that must be considered Thursday. Sustained winds in the mid teens are expected all week long making crucial holes -- such as those featured in Amen Corner -- all the more difficult. These winds are forecasted to gust up to nearly 40 mph on Thursday and Friday, though they will temper down once the weekend rolls around, according to Accuweather.

Should this forecast materialize, it will mean that 49 out of the 88 Masters will have experienced some sort of rain. After no rain fell during play from 2014-18, Augusta National has received rain in each of the last five tournaments.

Watch all four rounds of the 2024 Masters starting Thursday with  Masters Live  as we follow the best golfers in the world through Augusta National with  Featured Groups , check in at the famed  Amen Corner  and see leaders round the turn on  holes 15 & 16 . Watch live on  CBSSports.com , the  CBS Sports app  and  Paramount+ .

2024 Masters weather forecast

Last year, the final pairing of Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm needed to play 29 holes on Sunday after Saturday's action was washed out with heavy rain. Koepka slept on a four-stroke lead heading into the final day but saw his edge cut in half by the time the final round officially started.

In 2021, Hideki Matsuyama played video games during a 78-minute weather delay in the third round only to then play his final eight holes in 6 under. From two behind to four in front, this delay and subsequent play, when the winds were down and Augusta National Golf Club was susceptible to birdies, was a springboard for Matsuyama's triumph.

Even Tiger Woods' historic 2019 run at the green jacket was altered due to weather. Final-round tee times were moved up due to impending storms and both Nos. 1 and 10 tees were used to send off the Sunday groupings.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

Hornets Candidate Jordi Fernández Accepts Head Coach Position With Brooklyn

Have Charlotte missed out on one of their primary head coaching targets?

  • Author: James Plowright

In this story:

After it was announced Steve Clifford was stepping down, Jordi Fernández was one of four candidates immediately linked to the position. Fernández has now accepted the Brooklyn Nets Head Coaching position yesterday evening. according to ESPN .

The other finalists for the Nets position were Suns assistant Kevin Young and former Bucks Head Coach Mikes Budenholzer. Young, who finished runner up to Frank Vogel for the Phoenix head coaching role last off-season, has now also missed out on the Nets role. According to reports ,Young was on the initial shortlist of the Hornets coaching vacancy and could still be under consideration.

At this point, it is unclear if Fernández interviewed with Charlotte before accepting the Brooklyn Nets role. Hornets VP of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson worked for the Nets until February this year, suggesting he likely had an awareness of Brooklyn's interest in Fernández.

After Mike Budenholzer missed out on Brooklyn, could he be under consideration for the Charlotte job? For many fans, Budenholzer was the premier coaching option on the market but to this point no reports have linked him to the Hornets despite his ties to co-owner Rick Schnall. Budenholzer could be waiting for coaching casualties of this season's playoffs in hope for a team with better championship aspirations, or maybe he will pick up the phone to Charlotte.

Top-seed boston college breezes into frozen four championship with 4-0 victory over michigan.

Boston College couldn't bring home the first trophy it chased this season. The Eagles lost to crosstown rival Boston University in the Beanpot tournament nine weeks ago, sulking back to campus that February night in a very foul mood.

"We had a lot of anger," center Cutter Gauthier said. "That definitely put some fire in the pot for us."

That flame was still burning Thursday, and it carried the Eagles one step closer to the trophy they covet the most. Top-ranked Boston College blew past Michigan 4-0 in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals, earning a showdown with No. 3 Denver in Saturday's championship game.

The Eagles haven't lost since that disappointing night at the Beanpot, running their win streak to 15 consecutive games. A very young team, they played like old hands at Xcel Energy Center, getting every goal from an all-sophomore top line and a second line composed of three freshmen.

First-year phenom Will Smith connected for two of those. The nation's leading scorer finished off a two-on-one just 80 seconds into the game, then banked the puck off a Michigan defender at 12 minutes, 25 seconds of the second period. Gauthier potted a breakaway goal 49 seconds later, and the Eagles (34-5-1) were soaring to a program-record 34th victory of the season.

Gabe Perreault added a third-period goal for Boston College, and goaltender Jacob Fowler handed Michigan (23-15-2) its first shutout loss in a Frozen Four game. BC will play for its sixth NCAA championship and its first since 2012.

A crowd announced at 18,598 attended the two semifinals.

"There's no doubt in our game in the locker room," Gauthier said. "We've been super confident all season long, even being the younger guys.

"It was a fortunate night for us to pop four (goals) in. And it's the ultimate goal on Saturday night."

Michigan outshot BC 32-22, firing 17 shots at Fowler in the third period. Eagles coach Greg Brown said the game quickly became a track meet, which he anticipated, and lauded his defense for shutting down the Wolverines' ability to score off the rush.

Coach Brandon Naurato said Michigan could have put more net-front pressure on Fowler. The Wolverines entered the game with the nation's third most potent offense, averaging 4.23 goals per game, and were shut out for the first time this season. But the bigger issue was the inability to contain the Eagles' high-flying youngsters.

"All credit to their team, but those guys are special," Naurato said of the four first-round NHL draft picks on BC's top lines. "They won that game. They broke it open."

BOXSCORE: Boston College 4, Michigan 0

During the buildup to Thursday's semifinal, Michigan leaned into its tradition. The Wolverines kept the school's 1998 NCAA championship trophy — the last one of the nine it brought home — in its locker room. It sharpened their focus on the prize at hand, and it gave them a motto: How far are you willing to go to win this?

The Eagles turned to more recent history. They were doomed by a slow start in the Beanpot final, and they were determined to avoid a repeat in the NCAA semis. Though they were outshot 9-6 in a first period packed with fancy stickwork and swift skating, the Eagles got the only shot that mattered.

Smith, who leads the country with 71 points this season, put them on top at 1:20 of the first period by firing the team's first shot on goal past Michigan netminder Jake Barczewski. A solid first period led to a stellar second, with a pair of goals scored during four-on-four play.

Smith got the first, knocking a backhanded shot off the skates of Michigan defenseman Ethan Edwards and past Barczewski. Gauthier followed up with his 38th goal of the season, most in the nation, slipping a shot through Barczewski's pads.

The victory gives Boston College a chance to make up for another earlier disappointment. Denver beat the Eagles 4-3 in Boston last October, handing BC its first loss of the season.

With one final trophy on the line, the Eagles have plenty of fuel left.

"We owe these guys," Gauthier said. "Ever since then, we haven't let that sour taste out of our mouth. We're going to be ready to go."

When The Jonas Brothers open their show in Brisbane by walking out to your animated kid show’s theme tune, then that theme song and that show have done way more than entertain some 6-year-olds. The show in question, “ Bluey ,” has been a phenomenon for a while — it’s approved by the kids of “ Abbott Elementary ” as well as millions worldwide — and the music by composer Joff Bush and a coterie of talented collaborators has fueled two albums and untold instances of “ Dance Mode .”

Bush and his team meet that challenge not just by composing more music but by mirroring the structure of the episode in the types of music we hear in “The Sign.” The episode should be a big culmination of things: Frisky (Claudia O’Doherty) and Rad (Patrick Brammall) are getting married in the Heelers’ backyard, but Bandit (David McCormack) and Chilli (Melanie Zanetti) are also selling the house, set on moving to a bigger city so Bandit can pursue a better-paying job. Bluey is, naturally, upset at the upcoming change, and her teacher Calypso (Meg Washington) tells her a story of a farmer who refuses to read good or bad luck in the things that happened to him, always saying instead, “We’ll see.”

The music feels like the same kind of Rube Goldbergian contraption of moments that ripple out in ways the characters couldn’t have predicted. Bush brings back old themes and songs at key moments (all of the adults singing “Cat Squad” while they prep the house for the wedding gives us the gift of feeling like we’re part of Heeler parents’ inside joke), particularly around the wedding itself. There’s an even fuller version of “Dance Mode,” too, timed to the glorious way that the camera bounces along with Muffin, Socks, and Bingo on the dance floor.

But it’s not just references to previous episodes that make this score feel like the culmination of what the music on “ Bluey ” does well. In interviews, Bush has described scoring for kids’ shows as a task that can often boil down to “hear a carrot, see a carrot.” In other words, writing an externally motivated score. The music on “Bluey” never clashes with the primary emotion of a scene, but it often is a lot more psychologically grounded in the experience of that scene’s key characters.

Bluey staring out at her front lawn while wearing headphones and listening to a music player.

In “The Sign,” Frisky and Rad’s wedding montage gets similar treatment, with the barest hints of a traditional processional on horns as part of a warmer track that breezes from percussion bops to electric guitar, mirroring the fidgety fun that the event is for Bluey.

But Bush’s music is often the voice of the show itself. As Calypso reads the story of the farmer to Bluey in class, we hear a very delicate, string-led variation on a theme the show has used for the Heeler home (and Brisbane, generally), with a bit of Eastern flair to match the pop-up animation style of the story. Then, towards the end of the episode, when Bingo finally realizes that selling the house means they will have to leave and Bluey tells her the story of the farmer as a comfort, the musical idea returns. Only now it’s more confident, with more strings and a trilling flute and a longer crescendo; the score, like Bluey, gets the satisfaction of using something you’ve learned to comfort someone you care about. And, whether the audience clocks it or not, the score’s associations in previous episodes tie both moments to Bluey’s dilemma of leaving home.

The song is called “Lazarus Drug,” and it’s sung by Meg Washington, who also voices Calypso. It first appeared on her album “Batflowers,” but she, Bush, and the “Bluey” team adapted it to the season finale. Beyond the pleasing circularity of her voice being the episode’s bookend, the surging electronic build-up to the vocals feels completely outside of what’s come before on “Bluey” and for Bluey. The nerviness of the score, combined with nearly still shots of the empty house, is what pushes us to the precipice of this impending, scary change alongside Bluey. And it is Washington’s voice that punches through that anxiety, gently guiding the final beats of the story.

Great music almost always makes us feel something and great film and TV scores are adept at introducing ideas that add to our understanding of the story. But it’s rarer and much more magical when music makes us feel like we’re making a memory along with the characters, like the joy is ours. The music of “Bluey” is what makes the show feel real, for real life.
