We know the financial side of college planning is an important part of the discussion. We offer many options; learn more about scholarships and financial aid.

Freshman Admissions Process

Applying for admission is the first step, and we’re here to walk you through the process. Check out the checklist, deadlines and requirements for applying to Auburn, and all you need to know to make applying easy and stress-free. You’ll apply as a freshman applicant if you are a current high school senior or recent high school graduate who has never enrolled in college.

How to Apply

Auburn University is a test-preferred institution; we recommend that students take and submit official ACT and SAT scores for admissions. Freshman admission is based mainly on your high school courses, grades, and academic rigor. While we encourage students to submit standardized test scores, they are not required to be considered for admission or scholarships.

Applying Without a Test Score

Applicants with at least a 3.6 GPA and unable to test will be reviewed holistically through our test-optional pathway. Any valedictorian or salutatorian from an accredited Alabama school with 50 or more graduates will also qualify for admission.

When You Should Apply

For Summer and Fall 2024, Admission Decisions will be released in rounds. Early Action Decisions include rounds 1-4. For scholarship consideration, you must have a complete applicant file by any of the early action decision round. Regular decision deadline is February 1. Early action decisions are non-binding. To be considered you must have a complete application file by the materials received date listed below.

Decision Rounds

What You Need to Apply

To be considered for an admission decision, you must have a complete application file consisting of the items below:

Traditional Applicants

Submitted Admission Application .

Paid the $50 non-refundable application fee.*

Official ACT/SAT test scores sent from the testing agency.**

Uploaded copy of your high school transcript(s).

Test-optional Applicants

Minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA.***

* In both the Common App and Auburn’s admission application, you will select the fee waiver option if you qualify. Auburn University does not require any additional documentation.

**Starting Fall 2024, Auburn University will accept the ACT Superscore Report. Auburn will calculate a superscore for the SAT and any individual score reports from ACT. Only your best testing result will be used for admissions and scholarship consideration.

***If your GPA is not on a 4-point weighted scale or on a 100 pt scale, Auburn will recalculate your GPA. If the recalculated GPA is less than a 3.6 GPA, official test scores will be required to receive an admissions decision.

What We Look For

Admission to Auburn University is competitive. More students apply to Auburn each year than we can admit, and many have strong academic credentials. So simply satisfying the minimum requirements is often not enough to be competitive for admission. When you apply to Auburn, the Admissions staff carefully reviews your academic achievement, and each application is given personal consideration. As a land-grant institution, we understand and embrace our responsibility to serve the citizens of the state of Alabama. We focus on successful applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for success and can live up to the Auburn Creed.

Middle 50% The ideal candidate will have achieved an academic GPA at or above our middle 50% GPA, demonstrated academic excellence and participated in challenging coursework during high school. As a guideline, the middle 50% profile for students enrolling in Fall 2022 was:

  • ACT: 24-30 (Alabama Resident)
  • ACT: 27-31 (Non-Resident)
  • SAT: 1213-1380 (Alabama Resident)
  • SAT: 1230-1350 (Non-Resident)
  • GPA: 3.81-4.29 (Alabama Resident)
  • GPA: 3.87-4.32 (Non-Resident)

Academic Achievement Your high school transcript will be the primary criteria for determining academic preparedness. Each freshman applicant must complete the following core curriculum requirements by the end of their high school senior year:

  • Four years English
  • Three years of social studies
  • Three years math including Algebra I and II, and either Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, or Analysis
  • Two years science including Biology and Physical Sciences with Laboratory Component

In addition to evaluating core classes, Auburn will consider high school grade point average (GPA), ACT and/or SAT scores, and high school rigor. Transcript evaluation utilizes a 4.0 scale. (A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D= 1 point, F = 0 points).

Early Action - Preliminary Academic Review  We  select our freshman class through an evaluation that includes a preliminary academic review of an applicant’s academic performance. Our initial review focuses on the rigor of classes, GPA, and test scores as well as a deeper dive into a whole student. We consider the mix of in-state and out-of-state students and as a land-grant institution, our mission is to serve Alabama residents. Academic factors in our review include:

  • ACT or SAT test scores for students applying with a test score.
  • Your 9th-11th grade point average including weighted and unweighted.
  • Grades earned in core curriculum courses.
  • Planned 12th-grade courses.
  • Pattern of grades over time. Marked improvement in academic performance as demonstrated by academic GPA and the quality of coursework completed or in progress.
  • The number of college preparatory, Advanced, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), honors, gifted, and transferable college courses completed and achievement in those courses.
  • Academic performance relative to other applicants at their high school and the learning opportunities available in their high school.
  • Outstanding performance in one or more specific subject areas.
  • Academic area of interest.

Optional Supporting Statement & Secondary Review for Deferred and Regular Decision Applicants  The Fall 2024 secondary review includes an optional  Supporting Statement . This is an opportunity for applicants to submit additional information to be considered during the admissions review. The optional supporting statement can provide more information about the applicant’s experiences, give context for academic history and preparedness or interest in the listed academic major. This information will be used to better understand the applicant, their grade trends and class choice on the high school transcript, testing information, the applicant’s interest in or preparedness in a particular field of study, or their interest in Auburn University as it relates to their field of study and goals upon graduation. The optional supporting statement is limited to 150 words, taken into consideration with academic preparedness, and is not the defining reason for admission or financial aid awards.

Standardized Testing Policy

Auburn University extended the test-flexible option for first-year students who would start in Fall 2024. Applicants with at least a 3.6 GPA and unable to test will be reviewed holistically through our test-optional pathway.

Official Test Scores

Your official test scores are required for a completed application. O fficial test scores must be submitted directly from the testing agency.

Auburn University School codes are:

Superscoring

Starting Fall 2024, Auburn University will accept the ACT Superscore Report. Auburn will calculate a superscore for the SAT and any individual score reports from ACT. Only your best testing result will be used for admissions and scholarship consideration.

Schedule a Campus Tour

The best way to learn about Auburn University’s rich tradition, campus life, and academic excellence is to schedule an official campus tour . Led by a current student (our “Student Recruiters”), the 75-minute walking tour provides a great overview of what Auburn has to offer and helps you get more familiar with the layout of our campus. Don’t be surprised if current students say “ War Eagle !” as you pass. It’s what we do as members of the “Auburn Family” to greet each other on campus— and around the world!

Visit Your College

An important part of a campus visit is exploring your academic area of interest. Across all our 12 colleges, there are opportunities to schedule department tours or meetings with a professional staff member. It is important to schedule these meetings or tours before you arrive on campus due to limited availability. During this time with your specific college, you can ask any questions you have about your scholarly interests, explore the different classroom settings, and learn more about the opportunities available in your major.

ADVICE FOR PLANNING AN AUBURN UNIVERSITY TOUR

Congrats! You are embarking on one of the best parts of the college admissions process: college visits. Chartered in 1856, Auburn University is located in Auburn, Alabama, and has developed rapidly, undergoing many different changes. As you try to find the right fit academically and socially, we compiled some tips and tricks to make the most of your visit. Check out our  Collegiate Hotel  College Visit checklist and insider CoHo tips:

  • Talk to the Experts– Take advantage of Auburn University’s Admission Office tours and hear the first-hand scoop from current students.  They will candidly share things they love about Auburn and lessons they’ve learned. Come prepared with questions to ask.

CoHo Tip :  Take the extra time to go on student housing and recreation center tours.  Seeing an actual dorm room is helpful and the Rec Center will knock your socks off!

  • Dress Comfortably— Auburn is a walking campus, so dress comfortably and accordingly to the unpredictable Alabama weather. If you’re visiting anytime in May through October, it can get hot, so check the weather and pack extra water.

CoHo Tip:  If you’re staying at The Collegiate Hotel, you are only steps away from the University’s admissions office and downtown.  We also offer guests complimentary   golf cart  shuttle rides to campus and around town.

  • Venture Out on Your Own–  Although the official University tours are insightful, consider taking an unofficial tour by wandering around campus on your own. Check out Auburn’s numerous on-campus restaurants and dining halls. Prospective students will not be shunned for eating with your parents– plus they are buying, so enjoy the free food and company!

CoHo Tip: Check out the varying hours for The Edge Dining Hall near the football stadium. It’s an all-you-can-eat healthy dining hall open to the public. A bit pricey but worth it!

  • Visit downtown Auburn .Stock up on Auburn gear, shop the latest styles, and then satisfy your sweet tooth with popcorn, donuts or Toomer’s lemonade.
  • Do all the things that make Auburn, Auburn!   Auburn people love Auburn.  We wear the school colors and logos religiously and avoid red at all costs.  Immerse yourself in fun Auburn traditions: get lemonade at Toomer’s Drugs, greet people with a warm War Eagle, eat at Niffer’s, and roll Toomer’s corner if you’re in town for an athletic victory! There is no better way to “try-on” Auburn than by embracing the Auburn spirit.

AUBURN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE TOUR TIPS DURING COVID – VIRTUAL, IN-PERSON OR BOTH!

According to a recent American Freshman Survey, 52% of students indicated a campus visit was a “very important” factor in choosing their school. Here are 5 tips for how prospective students can get the most out of an Auburn University college tour:

  • Take Auburn University’s Virtual Campus Tour–  Auburn University’s Admissions Office has done an amazing job creating a virtual walk-through of campus. Click on this Auburn University Virtual Tour link for a simple campus map and for dozens of videos that showcase academic colleges, student resources, residence halls, administrative offices and points of interest. The HD Panoramic views allow you to step through your screen into a virtual walk of the loveliest village on the plains.
  • Follow Auburn University’s Official Social Media Accounts–  Stay engaged and up-to-date on all things Auburn University by following the official AU Instagram and Facebook pages. While @Auburnu is a good place to start, don’t stop there! From Auburn Basketball to AUinvolve and even the Auburn Bee Lab, almost every academic department, club or sports program has individual pages to show what campus life is really like!
  • Download the Auburn App–  By downloading the “Auburn App” found in the App Store on your smart device, you can find Auburn University’s academic + events calendars, a full-campus map and dining information. Auburn University also offers additional applications that cater to game day, parking services, transit systems, etc.
  • Travel to Auburn, Alabama and take a self-guided tour of campus — Experience all that Auburn University and the community has to offer by visiting in-person. With open spaces, it is easy to social distance downtown and on campus. The Collegiate Hotel is located in downtown Auburn across the street from Auburn’s campus and offers discounted weekday rates and detailed campus maps to customize your walking tour of Auburn University. Auburn Campus Tours

Throughout the calendar year, not just during regularly scheduled semesters, Auburn’s Office of University Recruitment provides free guided tours for those aiming to get to know the campus a little more. And, while Auburn campus tours are geared toward prospective students, future Tigers, and visiting family members, they’re entirely free to the general public. Each tour provides a look into the past, as well as a glimpse into the future. There’s no better place to start and finish your Auburn University visit than right here at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center , the only on-campus lodging option.

Guided Auburn Campus Tours

Most Auburn campus tours last approximately 75 minutes. This guided walking experience focuses solely on the university’s absorbing history, many long-lasting traditions, and insights into student life. The Office of Recruitment provides three daily Auburn campus tours, Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Highlights on the tour include legendary Samford Hall , Ralph Brown Draughon Library , the Student Center , and nearly a dozen more architectural masterpieces. You’ll be urged to pick up a copy of the latest version of The Auburn Plainsman , the university’s award-winning student newspaper. For those who wish to explore the campus without the aid of a student worker, don’t forget to print out the self-guided tour brochure . Similarly to most student-led Auburn tours, the self-guided audio-based expedition includes stops at Samford, the library, and various picturesque residence halls.

Campus Highlights

Not every one of the ground’s highlights is covered during the guided (or self-guided) Auburn University campus tour. Thus, we typically recommend visiting these five distinct sights during your stay: the Donald E. Davis Arboretum , Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art , Lovelace Hall of Honor , Auburn Arena , and Jordan-Hare Stadium . Most folks also stroll into Toomer’s Drugs for a world-famous lemonade before or after an on-campus Auburn visit. And don’t forget to shop along College Street to purchase some burnt orange and navy blue attire. Remember: during busy seasons, most Auburn campus tours fill up quickly! So, book now.

Auburn men win mossy oak collegiate while sweeping top 5 individual spots, share this article.

There’s a reason Auburn is the top-ranked team in men’s college golf.

The Tigers won the Mossy Oak Collegiate on Tuesday by 34 shots, shooting 46 under to win at Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point, Mississippi. It’s Auburn’s fourth consecutive win and the seventh of the season, but perhaps more impressive is how the Tigers finished on the individual leaderboard.

The five players in Auburn’s lineup finished T-1, T-1, 3, 4 and 5. That’s right. The Tigers swept the top-five spots in the individual competition. And their individual placed T-7.

J.M. Butler and Brendan Valdes shared medalist honors, shooting 12-under 204. Freshman Jackson Koivun was two shots back at 10 under, his ninth top-10 finish of the season. Carson Bacha was fourth at 9 under and Josiah Gilbert placed fifth at 7 under.

Reed Lotter was the individual and shot 5 under.

“Not to my knowledge has that been done,” said Auburn coach Nick Clinard. “Twenty-three years of coaching, and it’s the first time it has happened to me. It’s kind of crazy. But obviously proud of the team and how they played.”

Resident college golf historian College Golf Book on social media hasn’t been able to find another instance of this happening on the men’s side, let alone four of a team’s individuals placing in the top five.

I love research questions like these! It's all relative, but a straight flush is still a straight flush… https://t.co/xZWyJtP0rX I haven't yet found an instance on the men's (NCAA) side that has 4+ teammates inside the top5 but I'm still looking — College Golf Book (@CGolfBook) April 16, 2024

However, he did find a women’s team that accomplished the feat in the fall of 2015, albeit in a smaller field.

Ole Miss placed second in the team competition while Cincinnati finished third.

For Auburn, it’s another signature victory as the team heads toward the SEC Championship next week.

“These guys push each other,” Clinard said. “Iron sharpens iron. It’s something that they challenge each other and learn from each other, too.”

Mossy Oak Golf Course is ranked 43rd on the Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play: Top 100 U.S. public-access courses . It’s also ranked No. 2 on Mississippi’s top public-access courses in the Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play: State-by-state rankings for public-access layouts.

Auburn Tigers guard Aden Holloway (1) goes up for a layup as Auburn Tigers take on Alabama Crimson

REPORT: Former Auburn Tiger Is Set To Visit Alabama Crimson Tide

The Auburn and Alabama rivalry could get even more heated.

  • Author: Zac Blackerby

In this story:

The Auburn Tigers may see a familiar face stay within the conference.

After an eventful week of action, the Auburn basketball roster saw three guards leave the program via the transfer portal. Auburn center Dylan Cardwell will use his final year of eligibility at Auburn. Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers also added point guard JP Pegues from Furman.

Former Auburn point guard Aden Holloway is expected to visit in-state rival Alabama according to Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News.

"Aden Holloway is set to visit the Crimson Tide this week after playing one season for the Tigers, a source told The Tuscaloosa News," Kelly reported .

A former 5-star in the 2023 class, Holloway never found consistent footing in his role with the Auburn Tigers. Both he and Tre Donaldson, who also entered the transfer portal, seemed to switch roles throughout the season and both played pretty even minutes on a nightly basis.

Holloway averaged 7.3 points per game, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 rebounds. He shot 31.8% from the floor and 30.2% from three-point range.

Auburn is expected to start Pegues at the point this season. Denver Jones has some experience playing the one. Incoming true freshen Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard are expected to play as wings in Pearl's offense.

The next big decision for Pearl's roster falls into the hands of big-man Johni Broome. Broome was seen in a video posted to Auburn's social media account where he was asking students questions about a viral trend. This led many people to feel more comfortable about him staying for next season.

Auburn transfer guard to reportedly visit alabama on thursday, share this article.

It is simply not every day that you see an Alabama player suite up for in-state rival Auburn later in their collegiate career, as well as vice-versa.

Well, we have already seen that once so far during the 2023-24 athletic year, as Alabama defensive back Antonio Kite transferred to the Tigers earlier this offseason, and will officially suite up for Auburn this fall. However, could we see this happen once again, with this time coming on the basketball court?

According to reports, Auburn guard Aden Holloway is expected to visit Alabama on Thursday, which comes just a little over a week after the freshman guard entered the transfer portal .

Holloway, a former five-star prospect, started 26-of-35 games for the Tigers this past season as a freshman, averaging 7.3 PPG, 1.5 RPG, and 2.7 APG to earn SEC All-Freshman honors. The former five-star also shot 31.8% from the field, as well as 30.2% from three and 77.4% at the free throw line.

Alabama has so far added two transfers this cycle, both of which are guards in Pepperdine’s Houston Mallette and South Florida’s Chris Youngblood. The Crimson Tide have also seen guards Rylan Griffen and Davin Cosby enter the transfer portal, seen Aaron Estrada depart for the NBA, and are awaiting decisions from both Mark Sears and Latrell Wrightsell.

Could the Auburn transfer potentially suite up for Alabama next season?

Auburn 'strong option' for transfer DL

college tour auburn

Spring portal season is here and one target has already wrapped up an official visit.

Former Indiana defenive lineman Phillip Blidi officially visited Auburn Monday through Wednesday of this week, as the grad transfer searches for a new home for his final season of eligibility.

A veteran of college football, Blidi knows exactly what he's looking for in a program — development.

"Auburn does check those boxes, just the guys they’ve been able to develop," Blidi said. "Coach [Vontrell King-Williams] is a really great coach and he’s been able to work with a lot of guys, really helped a lot of guys’ game. Just seeing what he would do to improve my game, really shows me that he can take me to the next level and where I want to go."

Phillip Blidi visited Auburn this week.

Blidi, who's originally from Trenton, N.J., was a three-star prospect in the 2020 class. He signed with Texas Tech, where he spent the first three years of his collegiate career before transferring to Indiana for the 2023.season.

In four seasons between Texas Tech and Indiana, Blidi recored 70 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

"I learned a lot over the years and I need a certain caliber of coaching before I go to the league," Blidi said. "I need to be the best prepared before I go in and that’s where that development piece comes in."

King-Williams' message to Blidi has been that he can help get him there, and the 6-foot-3 lineman can tell that King-Williams is a players-first kind of coach.

"He’s a guy that has a relationship with the guys that he’s coached and he’s there for the guys that he’s coached," Blidi said. "Just off that, you want to play for somebody that you can trust. On top of that, me and him spoke about how he can change my game, the weaknesses in my game that he can make the strength for me, make me a complete player."

Aside from Auburn's defensive scheme and coaching, one thing that stuck out to Blidi about his visit were the people he interacted with.

"It was really great," Blidi said. "Just getting here, everybody was really welcoming. Everything I’ve been able to see was what I was looking for coming here. Every question that I’ve had has been answered. I love how welcoming this town is, and with me having a family, that’s important to me."

Blidi's visited Washington and LSU already, with a trip to Oklahoma planned for this weekend and possibly one to Oregon later on. He's hoping to have a decision before the end of the month, once he takes all his visits.

"Coming to this visit spoke a lot to me," Blidi said. "I saw what I needed to see to see that this would be a strong option for me."

Former Auburn guard set to visit Alabama basketball

college tour auburn

Alabama basketball is set to play host to a former Auburn guard.

Aden Holloway is set to visit the Crimson Tide this week after playing one season for the Tigers, a source told The Tuscaloosa News.

Holloway is a 6-foot-1, 178-pound guard from Charlotte, North Carolina. He averaged 7.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists this past season on the Plains. He went 82-for-258 (31.8%) from the field and 52-for-172 (30.2%) from deep.

The 247Sports Composite listed him as a five-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He was the No. 4 point guard and the No. 18 overall player in the class. He played for Prolific Prep in Napa, California, in high school. His efforts in high school earned Holloway McDonald's All-American status in 2023.

“Aden is a special winner," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said in a statement in Holloway's Auburn bio . "He has a high basketball IQ and the unique ability to create for himself and others. People just love playing with him."

Alabama seems to be trending to add another point guard this cycle. The Crimson Tide already has added Houston Mallette and Chris Youngblood at the guard spot, but those two figure to be more shooting guards than point guards.
