What people love about corfu tours.
The best experience! I really enjoyed Albania and definetely will go again during summer, it was a great adventure , I saw special places and the tour guide was great!!??????
I had heard only good words from my friends about their travels to Albania and i finally decided to try it myself. It was worth it. The Choose Balkans Team helped me find the tour that best suited me and made sure that i had a great experience from start to finish. We visited three different UNESCO sites around the south of Albania and i was very pleased with what i saw and experienced. If you have never been to Albania i would highly suggest this tour. Dont miss it!

We had a bespoke walking tour with George, where we hiked through some wonderful, picturesque woodland areas of Corfu, ending up at stunning secluded beaches. We were able to spend some time enjoying a swim and take in the great views. George took us to a local bakery for breakfast to try native delicacies, as well as to an old Corfu town. He gave us some interesting insights into Corfu life and we would highly recommend the tour!
We booked a food walking tour as we have found that you not only get to hear about the history of a town during the tour but also the culture through the food. Great food, great company and good value. We have revisited the places on this tour and used the recommended restaurants. So far we have not been disappointed in the quality of food. Great tour if you have never been to Corfu and want to get an understanding of it’s history & culture.
This is a food and cultural tour of Corfu and was absolutely brilliant. Our guide, Nausica, was stunning and amazing and she introduced us to her beloved island’s heritage and food. Don’t let the cost put you off and you get plenty to eat and drink (including some alcohol) and the 3hrs was actually 5hrs! I just can’t recommend this highly enough. Thank you so much.
Nausica was great. super fun and knowledgeable and gave us recommendations for excellent beaches and bars after the trip
We had a walking tour of Corfu Town this morning and it was excellent. If you plan on visiting Corfu Old Town, this is a must! Our guide Ariti was so friendly and knowledgeable - a highlight of our holiday.
We had a great time! As we booked the evening tour there were no other tourists so we got a private food and culture walk through Corfu town. There is plenty (!!) of food - so be smart and only taste a little bit of everything. I really liked the stop at a local cheese shop, the funky spice shop and the sweets place. Really highly recommended and well deserved five *****
We went on a guided cultural and food tour with Ariti. Ariti was very knowledgeable about the Greek history and that of Corfu. The food and refreshment tastings were very good and we got to try some new things. Would totally recommend this tour.
What a delightful taste of the Old Town both gastronomically and socially. Our guide, Nausica, was a mine of information and local knowledge about the history and current community. She went beyond the call of duty in showing us the key sites and introducing us to shop keepers and a representative selection of food & drink. We cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

Testimonials
We have never expected to have so bright moments during only one day. We have visited places in Corfu that most people don’t know actually exist and meet with authentic locals, who became the narrators of brilliant stories from the past. It was an unforgettable experience that we would heartily recommend.
Our tour of the villages of Corfu had many great surprises. We were surprised with the hospitality of common people in the alleyways of the villages and the fact that we always heard “good morning” from people standing outside their home. The cooking experience in the countryside was brilliant and our dish was delightful.
We were always searching for more and more things to see, touch, feel and hear. Original ideas of tours, contact with amazing locals and lovely organization of the whole experience.
We had a full experience with our friends and if we had much more time for holidays we would choose to spend it with you again, for sure. We never felt like common customers, but like friends and your guests. This was the most important to us and the most pleasant day of our holidays in Corfu. Thank you!
We have been visiting Corfu for 20 years and “the corfu expereince” was a big surprise, a unique experience. Thank you for offering this tour of undiscovered places and making us learn about the culture of the countryside in Corfu, a place that we so much love.

Corfu, Greece
Description.
The lush and verdant island of Corfu lies in the Ionian Sea, midway between Greece and Italy. The island has a long and colorful history. First colonized by the city-state of Corinth, Corfu has been ruled by the Romans, the Venetians, the French and the English. Corfu Town boasts fortresses bearing the insignia of the Venetian Republic, an esplanade lavishly planted by the French during the Napoleonic Wars, and an English cricket pitch. The island also offers some of the finest coastal scenery in the entire Mediterranean. Corfu's old town is a mixture of the medieval and the modern. The Esplanade, planted with palms and eucalyptus by the French, leads to the English cricket pitch.

More about Corfu, Greece Points of Interest
A maze of cobblestone streets full of old tavernas, cafes and shops, with a 15th-century fortress as its backdrop, Corfu is one of the most intriguing cities in Greece.
This 16th-century church, with its prominent bell tower and jewel-adorned silver sarcophagus, is the final resting place of the patron saint of the island.
Olive, lemon and cypress groves line the small coves nestled in the rugged coastline of this small seaside village.
Located above Paleokastritsa is this ancient cloister, enveloped by lemon trees, a flower garden and breathtaking views. Inside, the chapel offers a museum of Byzantine and ecclesiastical art.
This neo-classical palace was built as a summer retreat for Empress Elizabeth of Austria. Gardens filled with flowers, trees and statues in the Italian style, make this a mythical setting.
The "Koum Kouat" citrus fruit, a variety of which only grows in Greece's Corfu, is made into one of the island's most famous products - a liqueur with the same name as well as fruit-preserved sweets.
Just above Corfu Town sits the Mon Repos villa. Its palace, tiered and pillared with pink highlights and traditional Corfiot green shutters, was the birthplace of Prince Philip and Duke of Edinburgh.
This idyllic landscape is perhaps the most photographed in all of Greece. The 17th-century Vlacherna Monastery sits at the southern end of the Kanoni peninsula, and Mouse Island just beyond.

5 of the Best Corfu Walking Tours
The picturesque Greek island of Corfu has a slow pace of life that is perfectly suited to exploring by foot. Here are five of the best walking tours in Corfu.
(Photo: getyourguide.com)
Corfu is one of the most beautiful and interesting Greek islands – it’s no wonder it is one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations. It’s a rich tapestry of sweeping golden beaches, secluded forest trails and rich history, especially in the Old Town which is full of Venetian forts and churches. There is amazing food too, with Greek food infusing with Italian touches and showcasing the island’s delicious Mediterranean produce. A walking tour is a great way to see the many aspects of Corfu – here are five of the best.
History and Culture Walking Tour
This tour is a wonderful way to spend three hours in Corfu. The guides are top notch, being both knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture of Corfu Town. The tour starts at the Old Fortress, a Venetian fortress located in the historical center, before heading to the historical center, weaving through deserted alleyways, buzzing squares and ornate fountains on the way to the famous St. Spyridon Church. The excursion finishes at Town Hall Square, one of the gems of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the best-rated tours on the island – it’s almost impossible to fault, however it’s not cheap. From €75.

Dark Myths and Legends Tour
For a different spin on the history of Corfu Town, this tour looks at ancient myths and local legends. It’s only 1.5 hours but packs a lot in, heading to the historic Spianada Square where the experienced guide brings the island’s dark tales to life with stories of mythical creatures and immortal heroes. Some of it is a bit spooky, other bits will make you laugh – but it’s all extremely entertaining, with the aim to inspire rather than frighten. That said it’s recommended for ages 12 and above. From €24.
Express Walking Tour
If you don’t have much time in Corfu Town, or prefer hitting the beach rather than half a day traipsing around, then this express tour is the one to choose. It still fits a lot in, visiting Esplanade, the largest square of the Balkans, Saint Spyridon church, the most important greek orthodox church of Corfu, the British Palace of St Michael and St George, and the French street of Liston, the most popular pedestrian street of Corfu, and finally Town Hall Square. It’s fast and fun but considering it’s only 90 minutes, the price is a bit steep. From €60.
Gastronomy Walking Tour
Walking and eating are perhaps the perfect combination – you can burn off the calories and work up your appetite again, ready for the next snack. This three-hour walking tour heads to some of Corfu Town’s best hidden eating spots where you can try local delicacies and learn all about the history behind each dish. There is in-depth knowledge about what seasonings and ingredients make the island’s cuisine unique, with advice on how to incorporate the different elements into dishes when you get back home. All food and drinks are included. From €85.
Corfu Countryside Hiking Tour
If you’d prefer to get out of the city and experience Corfu’s epic nature, this hiking tour is a great way to do it. Essentials like the pick-up and drop-off, as well as water and snacks, are included, leaving you to just relax and enjoy the Corfiot forest paths that lead away from the crowds and onto sparkling blue sea, golden coastlines, green and silver olive groves, and beautiful creaks and waterfalls. The difficulty level of the hikes varies from easy to advanced and any tour can be adjusted according to the fitness level, age and skills of the participants.

15 Best Things to Do in Corfu (Greece)
The second-largest Ionian Island has seen the Byzantines, Venetians, French and British come and go over the last 1,000 years, and all these cultures have left something behind.
If you need a place to begin, try the World Heritage Old Town of Corfu City, which is guarded by two mighty Venetian fortresses that withstood everything that the Ottoman Empire could throw at them.
Corfu’s coast is sprinkled with resorts, some more appealing than others.
But if you’re a free spirit you can get behind the wheel and set a course for secluded coves, sweeping sandy beaches and castles and monasteries stranded on rocky pedestals.
Let’s explore the best things to do in Corfu :
1. Corfu Old Town
A city packed tight between two fortresses, Corfu’s Old Town is a knot of walkable streets and alleys between Venetian and Neoclassical houses painted pale yellow and orange.
Allow plenty of time to see every corner and little square, and check out the Archaeological Museum and Casa Parlante, a quirky 19th-century mansion with period interiors and animatronic figures.
Defended by insurmountable ramparts, both the New Fortress to the west and Old Fortress to the east deserve your time.
The latter goes back to the 6th century and is separated from the city by a ditch and canal crossed by a bridge.
In the complex you can see the temple-like Church of St George and the 19th-century British barracks housing Corfu’s library.
From the highest walls you’ll be wowed by vistas of the city, coastline, Straits of Corfu and mainland Greece.
Recommended tour : Corfu History and Culture Walking Tour
2. The Esplanade and Liston
Between the Old Town and the old fortress is the esplanade, a long green square that is a remnant of the Venetian fortifications in the 17th century.
During the French occupation of Corfu at the turn of the 19th century the esplanade was planted with trees, while the cricket pitch is a holdover from the British period that followed.
Also dating to that time is the Maitland Monument, a Neoclassical peristyle, with 20 Ionic columns around a rotunda, commemorating the Lord High Commissioner Thomas Maitland.
The Liston, on the Esplanade’s western boundary is an elegant arcade, also from the French period and designed in the style of the Rue de Rivoli in Paris.
3. St Spyridon Church
Corfu’s foremost church is from 1580 and its Renaissance bell tower is the highest in the Ionian Islands.
Hosting the relics of St Spyridon, brought to Corfu City from Constantinople in the 15th century, the church moved to this location after its predecessor was demolished to make way for the citadel.
The marble iconostasis catches the eye for its classical lines, with a pediment and Corinthian columns bordering the paintings.
The ceiling is also stunning, with gilded stuccowork around paintings that were first composed by Panagiotis Doxaras in the 18th century, but had to be repainted after deterioration.
To the side of the iconostasis is the entrance to the crypt to where the saint’s remains are kept in a double sarcophagus plated with silver leaf.
4. Achilleion
In 1888 Elisabeth of Bavaria, Empress of Austria, commissioned a summer residence at this elevated setting about 10 kilometres south of Corfu City.
This Neoclassical palace was designed by the Italian architect Raffaele Caritto with the hero Achilles as its central theme.
The illustrious German sculptor Ernst Herter produced statues inspired by Greek mythology for the grounds (the most famous shows Achilles in his death throes). You can tour the gardens, enriched with balustrades, a colonnade, fountains and Herter’s statues amid palms and trimmed cypress trees.
The interior is a museum full of memorabilia relating to Elisabeth of Bavaria, Franz Joseph II, as well as the next occupant, Kaiser Wilhelm II. Upstairs there’s a massive painting of Achilles dragging the body of Hector from his chariot by the Austrian artist Franz Matsch, and the dining hall is decorated with stucco cherubs on blue walls.
5. Mount Pantokrator
Corfu’s highest peak is in the north of the island, cresting at 906 metres and accessible by road.
At the summit is a cafe, telecommunications station and a monastery dating from the end of the 17th century.
You get up here on mini-bus tours from many of the coastal resorts on Corfu, or drive yourself.
Now, the road and its drop-offs and countless hairpin turns is not for the faint hearted, but the views are incredible if you can relax for long enough to enjoy them.
When you do arrive at the mountaintop you can see the Ionian Islands, the Greek Mainland, Albania, but also Puglia at the heel of Italy’s boot 130 kilometres to the west.
Suggested tour : West Route Day Expedition
6. Paleokastritsa Monastery
Topping a rugged headland on the northwest coast, Paleokastritsa Monastery dates to the 13th century and is on the site of a Medieval castle that has long since disappeared.
The monastery has a small brotherhood of eight monks who give masses and offer tours of the buildings and lush gardens.
Almost every surface of the building is cloaked with bougainvillea and geraniums, and if you’d like to enter the chapel there’s a dress code, and shoulders and legs have to be covered up.
The monastery has a small museum with vestments, icons and, strangely, the skeleton of a whale.
The monks also cultivate olives and press their own oil, which is sold at the shop.
Recommended tour : North Corfu: Full-Day Sightseeing Tour
7. Paleokastritsa Beach
Nestling just east of the monastery is the exquisite Paleokastritsa Beach.
Labelled on some maps as Agios Syridon Beach, this lies at the end of a long inlet with high walls of rock on both sides.
The water could hardly be calmer or clearer and is a snorkeller’s dream and just right for families with smaller children.
The beach, though narrow, has soft golden sand as opposed to the shingle coves nearby.
The limestone coastline around Paleokastritsa is perforated with sea caves, and there’s a jetty on the beach where you can catch boats for a tour.
8. Angelokastro
On a narrow rocky spur more than 300 metres above the sea, this castle was built in the 13th century as a far-reaching lookout over the sea, mainland Greece and inland across big swathes of Corfu.
The approach to Angelokastro is very dramatic, winding up through scrub and cypress trees to this unconquerable fortification which filling its small rocky podium.
Under the Venetians from the 14th century, Angelokastro was Corfu’s official capital and held strong against three sieges between the 16th and 18th century.
Beyond the walls, not a great deal of the fortress survives, save for the tiny Church of Archangel Michael, which has frescoes from the 1700s.
You can view seven sarcophagi hewn from the rock, peer into the castle’s vaulted cistern and gaze in awe at the sea, coast and mountains.
9. Vlacherna Monastery
One of Corfu’s signature images, the Vlacherna Monastery is on an islet at the end of a narrow jetty off the southern end of the Kanoni Peninsula.
The chapel, which you enter beneath a typical campanile, dates to 1685 and has tomb monuments going back to the middle of the 18th century.
You can combine a visit with a boat trip to nearby Mouse Island, which we’ll talk about below.
Vlacherna and Mouse Island make up a scene to behold from afar, and there’s a pair of hilltop cafeterias on high ground at end of Kanoni where you can take it all in.
10. Pontikonisi (Mouse Island)
For €2.5 you can catch a boat to this small island where a 12th-century Byzantine monastery is crowded by pine and cypress trees.
According to legend Pontokonisi is Ulysses’ ship after it was turned to stone by Poseidon.
The island is protected but you can disembark, climb the stairway to visit the bite-sized monastery, which has a cafe and a souvenir shop.
You may detect a strong similarity to the Swiss Symbolist Arnold Böcklin’s famous painting, Isle of the Dead, which could have been inspired by Pontokinisi.
11. Kassiopi
In the northeast of the island, looking across the straits of Corfu to Albania, Kassiopi is a traditional fishing village that has grown into a low-key resort.
The built-up area sits at the base of a small peninsula which is etched with little pebble coves and has a charming fishing harbour on its east side.
Rising at the centre of the peninsula is Kassiopi Castle, which has Byzantine origins and could be as old as the 6th century.
It was one of three strongholds that defended Corfu before the Venetians arrived in the 14th century.
A partial ruin, the castle is still an imposing presence, with more than a kilometre of walls and 19 towers around a rectangular plan.
12. Canal d’Amour Beach
The party resort of Sidari may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but what does make it unique is its otherworldly rock formations.
At Canal d’Amour there’s a long, almost rectangular creek with layered, sand-coloured walls.
The sea has weathered the rock, and near the entrance to the creek is a tunnel.
Pick a day when the sea is calm (which is most days in summer) and you can swim through the tunnel.
The local custom says that any couples who swim through together will soon get married, so swim at your own risk.
Further out the water is a little deeper, and you can watch brave divers jumping off the cliffs.
13. Old Perithia
A “Designated Area of Natural Beauty” to the northeast of Corfu, Old Perithia is a mostly abandoned upland village under Mount Pantokrator.
Once home to as many as 1,200 people the village sits at an elevation of 650 metres and dates back at least as far as the 1300s.
Most of the 130 remaining houses are in various picturesque states of disrepair though some have been turned into accommodation.
You could give yourself a while to amble around Old Perithea’s stone paths, tracking down its eight churches and basking in the distant views to the sea over oaks, vines and cypress trees.
14. Mirtiotissa Beach
At the bottom of the green cliffs beneath the Mirtiotissa Monastery is a heavenly little beach.
Mirtiotissa has a small ribbon of fine sand with perfectly clear waters, protected by a sequence of rocks a few metres from the shore.
Partly down to its isolated and secluded location, Mirtiotissa Beach has become the choice of naturists on Corfu, although everyone else is free to use the beach as well.
The unspoken rule is that naturists will bathe at the more private ends of the beach, screened by rocks, while non-nude bathers can stick to the middle.
15. Issos Beach
In contrast to Corfu’s rocky coves, the Blue Flag Issos Beach is an open bay bordering Lake Korission to the south of the island.
Traced by dunes, the golden sand at Issos seems to go on forever.
If you want a bit more life and amenities close at hand you can stay close to the resort village of Agios Georgios on the east end.
But you can also walk west and within a few minutes you’ll have broken away from the crowds.
Further from civilisation, Issos Beach is also popular with naturists, while the reliable winds attract windsurfers and kite-surfers.

Made from the small, sour citrus fruit that grows abundantly on the island, kumquat liqueur is a sweet and tangy after-dinner drink. The fruit is steeped in sugar and alcohol for several months, resulting in a syrupy liqueur that can be enjoyed straight or mixed with soda or tonic water.
Corfu is known for its high-quality olive oil, which is made from the island’s abundant olive trees. The oil is pressed from ripe olives and has a distinctively fruity flavor and aroma. It’s perfect for drizzling over salads, dipping bread, or cooking with.
The island’s rich flora and mild climate make it an ideal place for beekeeping, and Corfu is famous for its honey. Corfu: A History of Conquest
Corfu differs to much of the rest of Greece, with notable limited archaeological sites but an abundant mixture of forts, medieval castles, palaces, Greek orthodox churches, and monuments.

Corfu is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea with an amazing scenery of olive groves, rocky cliffs, coastal beaches, and historical architecture. It has a rich history of conquests, host to various major powers over the centuries. The Romans, Venetians, French, and British have all dominated leaving their own mark on the development and culture of the island. As such, Corfu differs to much of the rest of Greece, with notable limited archaeological sites but an abundant mixture of forts, medieval castles, palaces, Greek orthodox churches, and monuments – all representative of its glorious past.
Odyssey Traveller conducts a private tour of Corfu as part of our Odyssey to Greece guided tour. We take a guided walking tour through the city to admire its finest historic buildings, explore some of Corfu Island‘s villages such as the scenic Palaiokastritsa traditional village with its 17th century monastery, and stop off at Achilleion Palace. This article explores this ionian island‘s history to assist your Corfu tour.
Classical Antiquity
The first Greeks – a settlement of Eritreans from Euboea – arrived in Corfu around 750 BCE but were soon displaced by a Corinthian colony in 734. The colony was an important trade centre for towns of the Adriatic Sea as well as a naval base for further colonization ventures westwards. However, these people were proudly independent and quickly became insubordinate and hostile to the rulers of Corinth. Around 665 Corfu rebelled and the first naval battle in Greek history took place just off the Corfu coast. Corfu was defeated and Corinthian tyrant Periander punished the city by heavily reducing it back to a colony.
Corfu eventually regaining its independence but remained in conflict with Corinth for centuries more. In 435 BCE Athens accepted a request from Corfu for assistance in a quarrel with Corinth, a decision which became a major catalyst for the Peloponnesian War (431-404). The alliance with Athens lasted for a century until Corfu was conquered by Macedonian King Phillip II in 338.
Roman Period
After 300 BCE the island was conquered by various other powers including the Spartans and Illyrians before voluntarily becoming part of the Roman Empire for protection in 229. The Romans allowed Corfu to keep its independence as a free state and used it as a naval base to conduct campaigns into the Eastern Mediterranean. They stayed for over 500 years, during which they built numerous roads, villas, and public buildings including bathhouses.
The Byzantine Empire took over following the Roman empire’s division into east and west in 339 CE and stayed into the 13th century. During this period the island suffered frequent barbarian raids by Vandals and Ostrogoths as well as pirate invasions. This prompted the gradual abandonment of the ancient capital at the site now known as Paleopolis and the fortification of the town with towers including the Old Fortress, the fortress at Kassiopi, the fortress in Gardiki, and the Angelokasstro fortress.
Venetian Domination
During Medieval time, due to the island’s favourable strategic position between mainland Greece and Italy and its commercial value, Corfu changed hands back and forth between various powers including the Normans, Kings of Sicily and Naples, and the Venetians. From 1386 Venice gained a dominant position fully controlling the island up until the 18th century.
Over these four centuries of domination, the Venetians influenced their architecture, art, music, linguistics developing Corfu into a cultural centre. This remains most evident in the many buildings, monuments, and other constructions erected in the Venetian classical-style . Examples include the famous Church of Agios Spyridion built in the late 1580s and the elegant buildings that line the pedestrian alleys in the Corfu Old Town.
During this time, over 3 million olive trees were planted in the fertile soil of the lush landscape. Some of these remain among the now 5 million that cover the island today producing some of the best and well-known extra virgin olive oil in Greece.
French & British Rule
Napoleon Bonaparte conquered the Venetian Republic in 1797 and established hegemony over all the Ionian islands including Corfu. The French ruled until 1814 – separated by a seven-year period of Ionian State independence – introducing many agricultural and social improvements . Schools were built, printing presses imported, and new crops like potatoes and tomatoes introduced. The Liston – the grand pedestrian street in the Old Town – was built and the French had great plans for further development of the city.
The French rule was cut short, however, after Napoleon’s defeat by the British in 1815. Corfu became a protectorate of the British , capital of the State of Joined Ionian Islands, and entered a period of flourishing economic and infrastructural development. The road network was expanded, water and sewage system improved, first Greek University founded, and magnificent buildings erected including the Palace of St Michael and the Mon Repos Palace, followed by the Royal Gardens.
Modern Times
The British donated Curfu along with the other Ionian islands to Greece in 1864. A number of fine buildings were then erected, including the Achilleion Palace. However, Greece could only afford one cultural and economic power center and so Corfu ceded its role to Athens as the capital, becoming itself a Greek provincial town.
During the two World Wars, Corfu sustained heavy damages with numerous historical monuments and cultural centres destroyed. Following the Second World War, poverty and crisis ensued in Corfu, along with the rest of Greece, and a large number emigrated.
Yet, from the 1960s the town rebuilt and its social and economic life was redeveloped largely due to a tourism influx. Today tourists continue to visit for a Corfu holiday enticed by its wondrous seaside beauty, glorious history, and the golden sand of its beaches. Particularly stunning corfu beaches include agios stefanos, agios ioannis peristeron, and agios georgios.

Stamatis and the 2 Georges offer a fantastic experience at S-bikes. Rode solo for 5 days on the off road trails and had a great time. Just before I was due to leave Stamatis and George organized a tour on the west side of the island and it was the highlight of the stay. Trails you would never come across unless you were on a bike, fantastic views and a chance to see parts of Corfu hidden from the beaches.
S-bikes offer something for everyone, for a days adventure try the organized tours to the top of the mountain, for experienced riders, plenty of off road trails and downhills to put a smile on your face and for the road riders, plenty of climbs and fast sections. Great service and a good selection of bikes, plus the guys are super friendly.

Fantastic day out. I went for the harder of the routes that s-bikes offer and it was a great way to see pays of the island that you wouldn’t find on your own and single tracks and fire roads that you wouldn’t even think about unless on a MTB outing. Great day, great tour guide, fantastic views. Especially old Perithia and Mount Pantokratoras. My thanks to George, especially.
We were a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and we took the easy cycling tour down Pantokrator mountain with our guide George. We were first driven up to the peak to see the view of Albania, then started at 800m and road downhill ending in Archavi. Very pleasant tour through olive groves and cycling through small villages on the way down.
A highly recommended activity to do with teenagers who enjoy cycling.Staff at the shop (another George) was friendly and very helpful. Stamatis answered my emails and accomodated us on the day we preferred.
Our cruise ship had docked in Corfu for the day and we took a tour through the ship in conjugation with this group. The tour lasted about 5 hours, and the biking was all on the asphalt road. I went with my 57 year old dad and both of us are in good shape, so the overall feel for us was good since the uphill was a bit challenging.
For less experienced cyclists, the tour is still ideal since the uphill doesn’t last long and there is an optional extension to a small church at the top of a climb (views recommended). The scenery is very rewarding and the guides are excellent.
Joined a group of five for a mountain bike tour and had a great ride. I’m mainly a road cyclist so mountain biking made an interesting change.
Taken to the top of the mountain by car then enjoyed a varied descent – quite technical and a lot of varied surfaces. Tremendous views and plenty off road. Good quality bikes and George, our guide, was very friendly and informative.
Highly recommended.
We recently did the s bike tour and absolutely loved it, it was the highlight of our trip. My dad and i wanted a way to see the island and this tour delivered. It takes around 5 hours from start to finish which includes the 20 minute drive up the mountain to the starting point. The guide was excellent, the views were incredible and the staff were extremely friendly.
We did the beginner tour which was mostly downhill. We saw Mount Pantokrator, got to drink fresh mountain water and visit a 500 year old olive press. Well worth doing with all the family if you have teenagers.
