Disney Cruise Line’s Summer 2021 Disney Magic UK Staycations Sailings – A Look at ‘Opening Day’ Prices

The recently announced Summer 2021 Disney Magic at Sea UK Staycation sailings went on sale today to the general public. Now, it is time to take a look at the ‘opening day’ pricing for these sailings. I say opening day in quotes because the actual opening day was call in only so it was virtually impossible to compile all the pricing as it would have required numerous phone calls to DCL and not a good use of the Cast Member’s time when they could actually book these for other guests. Please keep in mind, the pricing is in US dollars.

Below, I’ve collected the opening day pricing, lowest price per stateroom category, based on double occupancy (2 adults) for all of the Summer 2021 UK Staycation cruises to provide a general idea on where the cruises are priced. I realize this does not take into account onboard booking, or a more detailed quote for your sailing party. For a more detailed look at quotes, simply visit Disney Cruise LIne’s website and price out the sailing for your specific party.

One last note, the pricing below is representative of a snapshot in time on opening day. As cruises book, prices will increase and stateroom availability will dwindle. The pricing below includes taxes, fees & port expenses for 2 adults. Some stateroom types were already sold out following the call in bookings for Castaway Club members, these are noted by blanks below.

As we welcome Guests aboard our ships, the health and safety of our Guests, Cast Members and Crew Members is a top priority. Our focus remains on operating our ships in a responsible way that continues to create magic for all on board. We are resuming sailing in a gradual, phased approach that emphasizes multiple layers of health and safety measures, developed in consideration of guidance from the UK government, health authorities and medical experts. Navigating Together: Our Enhanced Health & Safety Measures Our approach brings together 5 elements that help us promote health and safety for all Guests, Crew Members and Cast Members, something we at Disney Cruise Line take very seriously. Read our Privacy Policy .

• COVID-19 Vaccination: In order to sail, Guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS currently defines “fully vaccinated” as 7 days after the final dose. Disney Cruise Line will contact Guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to show proof of this vaccination status.
• Pre-Trip COVID-19 Testing: Guests under 18 years of age are not required to be vaccinated, but must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 5 days and 24 hours prior to the date you set sail. Disney Cruise Line has secured a special discounted rate through a third-party vendor for PCR tests and will contact Guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to complete and submit their test results. Guests may obtain their PCR test from the third-party vendor or any qualified testing supplier.
• Embarkation COVID-19 Testing: All Guests, including those who have been vaccinated, are required to undergo an antigen COVID-19 rapid test administered by a third party in the terminal prior to boarding. Anyone testing positive will undergo a second test to verify the results. All tests administered at the terminal will be at the expense of Disney Cruise Line. Guests with positive COVID-19 test results, as well as those in their travel party, will be denied boarding.
• Temperature Checks and Questionnaires: Daily temperature checks and health questionnaires are required for all Guests and Crew Members.
• Face Coverings: Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 11 and up) and Crew Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining, swimming or in your stateroom. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. It is recommended that children ages 3 to 10 wear a face covering at all times except in designated locations.
• Hand Sanitizers: The number of hand-sanitizing stations has increased throughout our ships.
• Signage: Additional signage has been installed highlighting recommendations from health authorities on social distancing, coughing etiquette and proper handwashing.
• Reduced Guest Capacity and Physical Distancing: Considering guidance from the UK government, health authorities and medical experts, we're reducing overall Guest capacity in our terminal and aboard our ships, and modifying our experiences to promote physical distancing.
• Reimagined Experiences: While some experiences have been modified to accommodate new health and safety measures, you can be sure entertainment to inspire is always front-and-center for the entire family. Our ships are overflowing with magic—from Characters delighting Guests in new and entertaining ways to West-End-style spectaculars.
• World-Class Dining: While self-service buffets have been temporarily paused, we’re serving up diverse global cuisines and classic casual bites inside themed restaurants peppered with Disney magic. Quick-service food and beverage locations still offer all-you-care-to-eat treats with service attendants available to help you satisfy your cravings at select times.
• Onboard Medical Capabilities: While we are taking a multi-layered approach to help promote health and well-being, we have a plan for managing any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. We are adding a Public Health Officer and staffing our ships with nurses and physicians experienced in emergency or critical care and certified in advanced cardiac care and life support. We have developed protocols for screening for and responding to symptoms of COVID-19. Medical facilities are equipped with isolation, monitoring care, ventilators, oxygen, laboratory and pharmacy services. The ship’s medical staff adheres to the requirements of the American College of Emergency Physician Health Care Guidelines for Cruise Ship Medical Facilities.
• Enhanced Cleaning: Building on our existing standards of cleaning with heightened protocols, we're increasing the frequency of cleaning with disinfecting products that meet guidelines for use against coronaviruses, bacteria and other pathogens. Extra attention will be given to high-touch areas such as handrails, doorknobs and elevator buttons, as well as children’s facilities and other common spaces.
• Modified Housekeeping: Staterooms will receive deep cleaning treatments between voyages, in addition to twice-daily housekeeping service during each voyage. All linens will be washed at high temperatures for extended cycle times and high-touch loose soft goods—such as sofa pillows and paper stationery—have been removed.
• Air Purification: All ships will be equipped with a new purification system that cleans both air and surface areas using a process called ionization. We are also increasing the circulation of fresh air on board our ships, and all HVAC air filters have been upgraded to MERV-13 high efficiency grade, which can remove very small particles. Additionally, each stateroom maintains singular air circulation, eliminating the need for air intake from adjacent common areas.
• Mandatory Daily Health Questionnaire: Receive a daily notification and link to complete the required daily health screening for everyone in your stateroom.
• Guest Services Live Chat: Reduce contact with others and get the answers you're looking for with our new live chat feature that lets you communicate directly with Guest Services and our Dining team.
• Virtual Queue: In an effort to promote physical distancing and make planning easier, capacity at select venues—like the Goofy's Pool Deck Area and AquaLab Deck Area—will be managed via our new, easy-to-use virtual queue system.
• Advance Reservations for Complimentary Experiences: To help manage capacity and meet physical distancing requirements, you'll need to reserve complimentary experiences—such as showtimes for our West-End-style live shows, time in the youth clubs and visits to the gym—beginning 30 days prior to setting sail directly through the app.
• Mandatory Emergency Drill: To promote social distancing on board the ship, you are required to participate in the Mandatory Emergency Drill by using the app to check in at your designated Assembly Station. If you haven't already, be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app today!
• More Innovation: We're implementing even more technology solutions that can make it easier for our Guests to maintain physical distancing, including our enhanced Online Check-In, digital dining menus and contactless room service.
• Training: Crew Members are receiving additional training on both new measures and the continued importance of personal health and hygiene, such as handwashing, refraining from working while feeling ill, and identifying symptoms of COVID-19. This includes training on how to help Guests and Crew follow new health and safety measures, such as wearing a face covering and maintaining physical distancing.
• Workplace Health & Safety: We've increased the frequency of cleaning in work areas, adjusted our work practices to accommodate physical distancing, and introduced new protocols for COVID-19 testing, temperature checks and face coverings for our Crew.
• Guest Communication: We will be sharing information with Guests via email and on our website about what to expect ahead of their voyage. On board, we have added additional signage about personal health and hygiene, and new measures are in place for physical distancing, cleaning and more. Guests will also receive tips on ways to promote health and safety via their stateroom television, digital signage and the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

What is the difference between ATOL & ABTA? ATOL and ABTA both offer protection schemes for the travelling public. The main difference between the two is what is included in that protection. ABTA covers package holidays that include rail, cruise or self-drive transport but does not offer protection for flight-based packages. ABTA also provides advice for people who believe their holiday package has been mis-sold and are seeking compensation.

ATOL covers package holidays that include flights- for example, a flight and accommodation package. If your travel company ceases trading, you will be entitled to a refund if you have not yet travelled. If you are on holiday at the time, you will be flown home with repatriation flights through ATOL. However, ATOL does not cover flights which have been purchased directly through the airline.

Another difference between the two is that ATOL is a compulsory licensing system run by the government, while ABTA is a voluntary scheme that travel companies can sign up to if they meet the requirements.

Heart-stirring moment pregnant Disney cruise passenger is airlifted off ship

A pregnant woman experiencing health complications aboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship was airlifted in a dramatic rescue by the US Coast Guard.

The passenger connected to air suspension gear dangled mid-air above the cruise near Puerto Rico as a helicopter hoisted her up.

Drone footage shared by the US Coast Guard showed its MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter hovering near the ship and a single rescuer being lowered down by rope and landing on both feet at the front of the massive vessel.

More than 10 ship crew members, some wearing bright orange vests, were then recorded carrying the passenger on a portable stretcher and laying her down at the front of the ship.

The Coast Guard member prepared a rescue basket and secured the woman still on the stretcher, then signaled to the chopper above. She was lifted while remaining in horizontal position and taken into the aircraft safely by Coast Guard members on Monday morning. The cruise ship doctor was also taken along with her.

‘Our crew was able to quickly, safely, and efficiently execute a long-range MEDEVAC for the patient to receive the higher level of care she required,’ stated Lt Cmdr Todd Stephens on Tuesday.

‘This case demonstrates the value of good crew resource management and the capabilities of our Jayhawk helicopter.’

The patient was a 35-year-old American citizen who required greater medical care ashore, stated the Coast Guard.

Disney Fantasy crew contacted watchstanders in San Juan requesting a medical evacuation as the vessel was in the Atlantic Ocean about 180 miles northwest of Aguadilla. A chopper was deployed from Miami.

The woman was taken to Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan and transported to the nearby Centro Medico hospital.

‘We are glad everything came together to help this passenger,’ stated Ensign Michael Riccio of the Coast Guard’s San Juan sector.

‘The competency displayed by the Disney Fantasy crew and the Coast Guard personnel and units involved made all the difference.’

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship

I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.
