We only offer home visits with our services

Consultations.

This includes a physical examination of your pet and discussing any specific health problems your pet has (eg diarrhoea or itchy skin or ears), and providing treatment or advice as necessary.

Vaccinations

All pets need annual vaccinations to protect against nasty diseases, a physical examination and general health check is included in this service.

Repeat Prescriptions

If your pet has an ongoing condition or is on long term medication we can perform their medication checks at your home and provide their prescription.

Letting a pet go is the hardest part of pet ownership, if the time has come for your pet, our vet Rachel can administer peaceful euthanasia right at home with professionalism and sympathy. If required, cremation options are available to suit any budget.

Claw Clipping & Anal Glands

Nails that are too long can cause excess pressure on the nail bed, chip and break, creating a painful condition that needs veterinary attention. If the anal glands don’t empty properly, they can become blocked, making bowel movements difficult or painful, and may potentially lead to infections or abscesses.

Moved here from Broad Lane a few years ago. It was the best decision we made. The care and attention is far superior to any other vets we’ve used in the past. The vets are very thorough and knowledgeable and always take the time to explain things. They helped us with our Animal Health certificate for going abroad and gave advice on how to get the most cost effective option. Our two dogs have also had dental procedures here and have always been well cared for. They were sent home when fully awake and eaten after the anaesthetic, unlike other places who can’t get them out the door quick enough. They are also an independent practice which we highly recommend.

Been with this vet practice since we first had our dog 2 years ago. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Fantastic vets, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

The staff are always friendly and so good with our boy Teddy, especially Laura who always makes our visit stress free and calm. Thank you! They are always on hand with information when we have called for advice in the past. We unfortunately lost Teddy’s brother when he was only a few months old to suspected FIP. My puppy got admitted overnight and really was not well at all. The team were fabulous. The vet explained everything they were going to do and promised to keep us informed of any changes. Thankfully he has now made a full recovery and couldn't believe the difference in him the next morning! Thank you team for saving my little boy Murphy!

Emergency visit just after midnight. 17 week old pup suddenly went limp and lifeless. Call to our normal vet redirected us to Vets Now. Telephone service reassuring as was the service once there. Immediate treatment. Advised that it was an infection with slightly raised temperature. 1 injection later and next day he was back to normal with no further need to see our own vet. Bit scary though but excellent service. Would certainly recommend in emergency scenarios. Thank you.

Out-of-hours general veterinary home visits

When your regular vet is closed, and you require veterinary attention for your pet at home, we can provide a home visit for medical issues which don’t require hospitalisation.

If your pet’s symptoms, condition or injury suggest that they require hospitalisation, we can refer you to a 24-hour veterinary hospital.

We do not provide a veterinary ambulance service, so are generally unable to transport sick and injured pets to a veterinary hospital but may do so in exceptional circumstances.

Out-of-hours home euthanasia

We recognise the need for home visit flexibility as the time for euthanasia approaches. Your pet may have a sudden unexpected decline out-of-hours, or you may wish to arrange friends and family to be there for the final goodbye. Knowing that at-home help may be available out-of-hours can help ease the stress at a very difficult time.

Out-of-hours emergency home visits

Due to the nature of a home visiting service, we cannot promise instant emergency coverage. We are on the road much of the day in various locations. We may be a considerable from the location of an emergency and London traffic does not allow for rapid response times. Most genuine emergencies need to be attended and treated at a veterinary clinic or hospital which has the facilities and extra staffing to cater for these conditions and injuries. We do not register/attend pregnant/whelping dogs. For such cases we recommend that you make arrangements with your chosen local vet well in advance to clarify the veterinary care and emergency options that can be offered at whelping time.

Broad Lane Vets has been trusted by generations of Coventry pet owners.

However, in the event of an emergency outside of these hours we have arranged the provision of 2 local dedicated veterinary emergency services, called Vets Now in Coundon and Willows in Solihull.

Both Vets Now and Willows employ fully qualified vets and nurses, who specialise in emergency and critical care work. Their staff are on duty solely at night and at the weekend and remain on site at all times. This means you will be seen by a vet who is well rested and alert, ready to see you and your pet, whatever time it is.

Coventry Vets Now is based at the PDSA Pet Aid Hospital, Barker Butts Lane, Coventry  CV6 1DT. However, Vets Now merely uses the PDSA building, and receives no charity funding itself. They may be contacted when we ae closed on 02476 595354 .  Map and directions to Vets Now

As you would expect, staffing and equipping a dedicated emergency clinic is expensive. Therefore you should expect to pay higher fees for a consultation outside of normal hours and Vets Now or Willows will inform you of costs when you ‘phone.
