Nas and Wu-Tang Clan are bringing their co-headlining N.Y. State of Mind tour to Australia and New Zealand this year.

The legendary hip hop pair announced new dates worldwide today, beginning in Auckland on May 9th. They’ll then jump over to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, before heading to Europe in June (see full details below).

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 6th at 12pm local time. The Live Nation pre-sale begins on Friday, March 3rd at 11am local time.

The 2023 run of the tour comes swiftly after the sold out 2022 run the hit over 25 cities last year. Nas and Wu-Tang’s acclaimed co-headlining tour also earned them a nomination for Pollstar’s 2022 Hip Hop Tour of the Year.

Neither act really needs an introduction. Formed in New York City’s Staten Island in the ’90s, Wu-Tang Clan rose to become one of the most important hip hop groups of their generation. Their nine remaining members, including RZA and Ghostface Killah, all get their chance to shine in the live setting, but Wu-Tang are at their best as a cohesive unit.

Nas, meanwhile, hasn’t stopped releasing acclaimed rap albums for almost 30 years, ever since the release of his seminal debut album, 1994’s Illmatic . Just last year, he shared his 16th studio album, King’s Disease III , which reached the top 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

More Wu-Tang Clan

Wu-Tang Clan and Nas  have just announced their next dates in their global N.Y. State Of Mind Tour , adding shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne this May.

The 2023 tour comes on the heels of the sold-out 2022 N.Y. State Of Mind Tour run that hit 25+ cities last year, including an iconic show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

General public tickets go on sale on Monday, 6 March, at noon local time. However, if you want to get your hands on tickets before then, the Live Nation pre-sale commences on Friday, 3 March, at 11 am local time and runs for 72 hours. Access tickets here .

Wu-Tang Clan have prevailed as hip hop's most legendary – and influential – group. In 2018, the New York posse marked the 25th anniversary of their fabled debut, Enter The Wu-Tang ( 36 Chambers ) , by performing it in full.

All nine current members – yes, RZA , GZA , Method Man , Raekwon , Ghostface Killah , Inspectah Deck , U-God , Masta Killa and Cappadonna  – brought da ruckus to the Sydney Opera House in 2018, its sails weirdly evoking the Wu's infamous 'W' insignia. They sold out four shows.

More than just rappers, Wu-Tang Clan are entrepreneurs and successful cultural influencers, with an empire that features everything from clothing lines and video games to books and acting credits.

In August 2020, Nas released King’s Disease II , a sequel to the GRAMMY Award-winning album. King’s Disease II was executive produced by Nas and Hit-Boy and features collaborations with Eminem , EPMD , A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie , YG , Ms Lauryn Hill , Hit-Boy & more. The album earned a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 64th GRAMMY Awards. Most recently, Nas released a surprise album titled Magic  featuring A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier .

In addition to his successful career in music, Nas has pursued a career in motion pictures that began with his co-starring role (alongside DMX ) in 1998’s cult classic crime drama Belly , a film by director Hype Williams (with whom Nas has done several music videos). Most recently, he was the executive producer of the 2016 Netflix series The Get Down . Nas is also the co-founder of Mass Appeal Records.

Wu-Tang Clan and Nas announce Australian shows for this May

Ten members of Wu-Tang Clan gathered together in front of a pitch black background

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Wu-Tang Clan and Nas are two of New York's most vital musical entities.

In recent years, both acts have been semi-regular visitors to our country, and now they've announced that they'll be coming back real soon.

The two artists spent a good chunk of 2022 trekking around the United States on a massive double bill they've dubbed the NY State of Mind tour, and now that tour is coming to Australia.

For one big weekend in May, Wu-Tang Clan and Nas will take over big arenas along the east coast of the country, bringing some of the best hip hop of all time to their many Australian devotees.

Both artists released debut records rightly considered to be among the greatest records of the '90s.

Wu-Tang's 1993 record Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and Nas' 1994 release Illmatic were hugely influential, game-changing LPs that sound every bit as good today as they did almost 30 years ago.

They've gone on to enjoy stellar careers since then. Wu-Tang's members have delivered scorching solo records – Raekwon 's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ..., Ghostface Killah 's Supreme Clientele , GZA 's Liquid Swords to name but a few – as well as some strong group records.

Nas has pumped out work with startling consistency, and many of his 16 (!) albums could rightfully be considered classics. His latest work, especially the King's Disease series of albums, proves he still has plenty to say and a hell of a way of saying it.

Recent visits have shown not just the enduring quality of the music, they have also proven that they can be incredible performers. Nas is pretty much always on song and, when the Wu-Tang Clan are in form, they're unstoppable .

This is a rare chance to see two iconic hip hop acts like this in the one hit. Don't miss out.

Catch this extraordinary line-up at the following shows. Tickets are on sale from 12pm Monday 6 March.

Friday 12 May – Brisbane Entertainment Centre

Nas & Wu-Tang Clan Announce Australian Tour For May 2023

Nas & Wu-Tang Clan Announce Australian Tour For May 2023

Chris Singh

Hip hop legends Nas and Wu-Tang Clan will be heading to Australia as part of their co-headlining NY State of Mind world tour in early June. And while both acts have been down under numerous times before, this will be the first time Australians will witness these two titans on the same night.

Announced this morning, the brief visit to this part of the world will form part of their ongoing world tour, which hit up more than 25 cities last year and is planning to run through a similar amount of stops in 2023. The Australian dates will be the first shows on part two of the tour, right before Nas and Wu-Tang Clan head on over to tour Europe and then wrap up with another stint in the US.

Fresh off completing his acclaimed King’s Disease trilogy, Nas should have more than enough new material to pack into his set, which will likely also include classics like ‘Live At The BBQ’ and the tour’s namesake track, ‘NY State of Mind.’ With Wu-Tang also in the building, it’s likely we’ll be seeing a bunch of collaborations, particularly between Nas and Raekwon who have traded bars on classics such as ‘Verbal Intercourse’ and Mobb Deep’s ‘Eye For An Eye.’

Although they’ve been here many times before, both the Wu-Tang Clan and Nas have announced a co-headline tour of Australia, part of the wider NY State of Mind tour that has been tracking the globe since last year.

With songs like ‘Gravel Pit’ and ‘The World Is Yours’ between them, looking for these hip hop legends to put on the biggest rap show of the year as they stop by Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney before hopping on over to Europe and then back to the US to wrap up the tour, which so far has been a massive success.

The potential for on-stage collaborations with multiple rap icons in the building is something Australia has really never seen before. This places the NY State of Mind tour as essential for hip-hop fans and those who appreciate the pure, raw lyricism that saw these acts become major stars during hip hop’s formative years.

From Method Man to Inspectah Deck, reportedly the entire Wu-Tang Clan will be making the trip down under, right alongside Nas, who just finished wrapped up his King’s Disease trilogy the universal acclaim.

Moving on to Europe, the long-affiliated rap heavyweights will perform in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday June 2, following up the night after (June 3) with a gig in Copenhagen, Denmark. Dates in Germany, the Netherlands and France will follow, before Wu-Tang and Nas wrap up the tour’s second leg with shows in Dublin, Glasgow and London.

Closing out the stint will be another North American leg, this time running over 20 dates and kicking off in Nashville on Wednesday September 20. They’ll chase it up with a trio of gigs in Florida – Hollywood, Jacksonville and Tampa – then roll on through Washington (DC), Brooklyn and Atlantic City over the last few days of September.

October will then kick off with Canadian shows in Toronto and Laval, with Wu-Tang and Nas’ Stateside return being marked by a show in Columbus, Ohio. Rounding out the itinerary from there will be shows in Minneapolis, Chicago, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and finally Highland.

See here for ticketing details regarding the New Zealand show, here for the Australian dates, here for those in Europe, Ireland and the UK, and here for North America.

Nas’ most recent album was his 16th, ‘Kings Disease III’, which arrived last November and earned a five-star review from NME . Wu-Tang, on the other hand, are currently streaming the final season of their biographical drama series Wu-Tang: An American Saga .

Wu-Tang Clan and Nas Are Bringing Their Huge World Tour Down Under This Autumn

2023 ain't nuthing ta f' wit: it's the year that Wu-Tang Clan are returning Down Under, after all. After the hip hop legends kicked off their NY State of Mind tour with Nas in 2022, they're bringing the 2023 leg to Australia and New Zealand — and it's still a joint affair.

Two of the biggest names in the business since the 90s — with Wu-Tang Clan first making a splash with their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) , and Nas doing the same with 1994's Illmatic — will play four shows in total on their Aussie and Aotearoa visit. They're the first gigs in the 2023 tour, too, and all in May, kicking off in Auckland before hopping across the ditch for stops in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

The 2022 leg hit up more than 25 cities, and 2023's is just as epic — after its stint Down Under, it heads through Europe and then back to the US. Along the way, fans can enjoy Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna taking to the stage three decades after they first came to fame — and Nas sharing the mic as well.

Over that time, Wu-Tang Clan have dropped seven further albums from a fill discography that, including solo records by its members, notches up more than 85 full-length releases. Their tours pull from the whole lot, as set against that ever-present Wu-Tang 'W' — and honours the deceased Ol' Dirty Bastard as well.

About Wu-Tang Clan

Founded in New York City’s Staten Island in the early 1990s, the Wu-Tang Clan is comprised of members RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna, and the deceased Ol’ Dirty Bastard (ODB). Their name is a reference to a 1983 martial arts film.

Led by the production of RZA, samples from martial arts films have thematically appeared throughout the group’s music, as have samples of classic funk and soul tracks from artists like Rick James, James Brown, and Syl Johnson. As a group, Wu-Tang Clan have three platinum albums among their eight LPs, and the group’s complete anthology (including solo albums) has more than 85 full-length releases. More than just rappers, Wu-Tang Clan are entrepreneurs and successful cultural influencers, with an empire that features everything from clothing lines and video games to books and acting credits.

Wu-Tang Clan on Tour Considered by many to be the greatest hip-hop group of all time, Wu-Tang Clan have been touring as a unit since their debut record — Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) — came out in 1993. The now triple-platinum release vaulted the New York City group with songs like “C.R.E.A.M.” (Cash Rules Everything Around Me) and “Protect Ya Neck” that are about as recognizable as anything in the rap canon.

Their live sets are a family affair, with every member of the crew representing their lyrical contributions to the Wu’s eight studio albums, as well as notable cuts from the Wu-Tang solo discography. With the omnipresent Wu-Tang “W” flanking all angles of the stage, there’s a familiarity to Wu-Tang Clan’s music that gives their shows unique mass appeal.

Whether they’re delivering the 36 Chambers record front to back on the album’s 25th Anniversary Tour, or tracks from GZA’s seminal Liquid Swords and Raekwon’s mafioso-minded Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…, or honoring the legacy of their departed brother, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, every Wu-Tang Clan show is a celebration of prolific careers as individuals and especially as the most storied group in hip-hop history.

About Nas Nas (Nasir Jones) first reached an international audience when his track “Halftime” was tapped by producer MC Serch as the opening cut on 1992’s  Zebrahead  movie soundtrack.  Signed to Columbia Records, the first full-length album by poet and rhyme-master Nas arrived in 1994,  Illmatic .  The RIAA platinum hip-hop landmark featured “It Ain’t Hard To Tell,” “The World Is Yours,” and “One.”  1996 brought the breakthrough double-platinum  It Was Written  (#1 R&B for 7 weeks, #1 pop for 4 weeks), with his first major crossover singles “Street Dreams” and “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That).” Success continued with the double-platinum  I Am  in 1999 (again #1 pop and #1 R&B), with the chart singles “Nas Is Like,” “Hate Me Now” (featuring Puff Daddy), and “You Won’t See Me Tonight” (featuring Aaliyah).

Subsequent albums by Nas included: the RIAA platinum  Nastradamus  (1999, #2 R&B, #7 pop, with “Nastradamus” and “You Owe Me,” featuring Ginuwine); the platinum  Stillmatic  (2001, #1 R&B, #5 pop, with “Got Ur Self A…,” “ “One Mic,” and “Rule”); the platinum  God’s Son  (2002, #1 R&B, with huge R&B/pop crossover hits “Made You Look” and “I Can”); and the platinum double-CD  Street’s Disciple  (2004, #2 R&B, #5 pop, with “Bridging the Gap” and “Just a Moment”). And his 2012 album,  Life Is Good  earned him 4 Grammy nominations including Rap Album of the Year and is certified RIAA gold.

Over the years, Nas has also been the featured guest on a number of crossover hits by other artists, among them: Allure (“Head Over Heels,” 1997); Missy Elliott (the #1 “Hot Boyz,” 1999); fellow Queensbridge rapper Mobb Deep (“It’s Mine,” 1999); Jagged Edge (“I Got It 2,” 2002); J-Lo (“I’m Gonna Be Alright,” 2002); Kanye West (“Classic (Better Than I’ve Ever Been),” 2006); DJ Khaled (“Nas Album Done,” 2016); Swizz Beats (“Echo,” 2018); Jhene Aiko (“10K Hours,” 2020) and others.

In August 2020, Nas released  King’s Disease .  King’s Disease  marked Nas’ first new album in 2 years. The album was entirely produced by Hit-Boy, and Gabriel “G Code” Zardes serves as the albums co-executive producer. The album won “Best Rap Album” at the 2021 GRAMMYs, marking Nas’ first ever GRAMMY win.

In August of 2021, Nas released  King’s Disease II , a sequel to the GRAMMY Award winning album.  King’s Disease II  was executive produced by Nas and Hit-Boy and features collaborations with Eminem, EPMD, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, YG, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Hit-Boy & more. The album earned a nomination for “Best Rap Album” at the upcoming 64th GRAMMY Awards. Most recently, Nas released a surprise album titled Magic featuring A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier.

In addition to his successful career in music, Nas has pursued a career in motion pictures that began with his co-starring role (alongside DMX) in 1998’s cult classic crime drama  Belly , a film by director Hype Williams (with whom Nas has done several music videos). Most recently, he was the executive producer of the 2016 Netflix series  The Get Down .

Nas is also the co-founder of Mass Appeal Records.

I was blessed with the opportunity to see Nasir, DMX and Lil Kim @ the Colliseum (WVU Mountaineers basketball court)in Morgantown,WV... I was right up in front row at center stage to hear one of my Top 5 favorite Hip-Hop artists and it was GREAT! Didn't care much for Lil Kim but Nasir and X made the show worth it. I got the opportunity to throw my demo up to Nas and it was taken backstage... I just wonder if he ever took the time to listen to it... Definitely a memorable concert for me

Not a fan of the venue (United Center). Nas requires a smaller venue bc his lyrics, not his energy, take precedence. The UC is for a mega popstar with a large gross allegiant fanbase (e.g. Taylor Swift, Kanye West). There's no intimacy amongst fans at the UC, either. Overall, it's a terrible place for most artists.

Nas is my favorite rapper hands down. Id love for him to perform fan hits, not billboard hits. I wish he were as daring a performer as he is a rapper. Most Nas fans dont like "Hate Me Now" or "I Know I Can" but bc theyre his biggest singles, they'll be played instead of "The Rise and Fall", or "Take It In Blood", "Blaze a 50" or how about "Wanna Play Rough?". Maybe Chicago's an awful city for an artist. It's ironic that Nas's fearless lyrics and depth of content is suppressed by his entertaining stage presence fueled by the need for "Mass Appeal".

This was one of the most epic events I've EVER attended! Nas by himself is enough! But, couple this legendary icon with the infamous Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Wallah, magic has taken place! He performed his 1st album with the Symphony in chronological order which was so melodic. Then once he finished illmatic the symphony cleared the stage and gave a helluva encore by performing all his mainstream hits and even a couple of his newer tracks from Nasir ( his newest album to date). To say I was pleased is an understatement! I was enthralled!!! Nas will forever be a class act in my eyes!

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.
