Utopia Of The Seas Itineraries

Utopia of the seas review, review of utopia of the seas.

The 2024-built Utopia of the Seas cruise ship is RCI's fourth/last OASIS-PLUS class liner, with sisterships Wonder OTS (2022), Harmony OTS (2016), Symphony OTS (2018). Utopia OTS just slightly exceeds in size the original OASIS class vessels Oasis OTS (2009) and Allure OTS (2010). Utopia's building cost is USD 1,35 billion (2019 shiporder rates).

The vessel (IMO number 9880001) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311315088) and registered in Nassau .

Utopia OTS is the 15th unit delivered to Royal Caribbean International by the French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique/STX France ( Saint-Nazaire ) as well as RCI fleet's 29th liner.

When completed, Utopia OTS (together with Wonder OTS) will be the world's ever-biggest cruise ship by both GT-tonnage/volume and passenger capacity .

History - construction and ownership

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is a US shipping company, trademarked brand and subsidiary owned by Royal Caribbean Group (RCG/shipowner). RCI was established in 1968 and currently has over 1/5 of the worldwide cruise market. RCI also has RCG's largest fleet by both vessel number and GT tonnage (ship sizes and capacities).

All RCI liners have names ending with "of the Seas".

Utopia Of The Seas cruise ship (Royal Caribbean)

The 5700-passenger ship Utopia OTS comprises 8 neighborhoods - Royal Promenade, Central Park, Boardwalk, Entertainment Zone, Pools & Sports Zone (Lido Deck), Youth Zone, Vitality Spa & Fitness (wellness complex), and Suite Neighborhood.

Utopia also has the new RCI "Family Suite" (2-level / on 2 floors), redesigned Boardwalk, several new venues.

Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ship (raster image)

In comparison to the other sisterships, Oasis-Plus Class boats are heavier, wider and with bigger passenger capacity. Utopia is nearly 330 ft (101 m) longer than RMS Titanic and 165 ft (50 m) longer than Eiffel Tower ( Paris City ). The liner has several promenades, 1x FlowRider, 2x Rock-Climbing Walls, an Ice-Skating Rink, world's largest theatre at sea.

Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ship (raster image)

Among Utopia OTS' most prominent features is the multi-deck waterslide "The Ultimate Abyss". Introduced first on Harmony OTS, the waterslide swings down 10 decks, at over 150 ft (46 m) above sea level.

Utopia has bigger cabins than Allure and Oasis (in some categories) and windowless interior cabins (Virtual Balconies) offering real-time views (introduced in 2014 on Navigator OTS ).

Unlike Wonder OTS, Utopia is LNG-powered, so she has 50 fewer staterooms (2824 instead of 2874) to allow the space needed for the LNG (liquefied natural gas) tanks.

The next YouTube video shows the most prominent features and the shipbuilding process of the "Oasis 3 class"/Oasis-Plus.

Utopia's Suite passengers benefit from the exclusive venues Suite Bar Lounge, Coastal Kitchen/restaurant, and a full-service Suite Sun Deck.

A total of 24 elevators (12x forward + 12x aft) provide access all the way to deck 16, while decks 17 and 18 are accessed by 6 lifts. Two escalators (1x forward + 1x aft) interconnect decks 2-3.

Decks and Cabins

Utopia Of The Seas staterooms (2834 total, in 37 categories) include 175x Suites, 1435x Balcony, 155x Oceanview, 527x Inside, also 477x Boardwalk-Central Park Balcony, 70x Boardwalk-Central Park Interior, 26x Promenade View. Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 44.

Most cabins are sized 150-180 ft2 / 14-17 m2. Most cabin balconies are sized 55 ft2 / 5 m2. The largest accommodation is the Royal Loft Suite (1530 ft2 / 142 m2, with terrace sized 850 ft2 / 79 m2 - a wraparound balcony with a Jacuzzi).

The boat has 17 decks , of which 16 are passenger-accessible and 11 with cabins.

The Ultimate Family Suite is unique for RCI loft suite featuring a slide (from the kid's bedroom down to the living room), floor-ceiling LEGO wall, hidden nooks for a chilling, air-hockey table. A 3D movie theatre-style TV room is fitted with a popcorn machine and a library of video games. The 210 ft2 wraparound balcony has a bumper pool table, kids climbers and a full-size whirlpool. Currently the largest "Family Suite" at sea accommodates up to 8 passengers.

Unlike the other Oasis-Class ships, Utopia OTS has an additional (8th) neighborhood that houses Suites and Suite-only facilities. The "Suite Class Neighborhood" (located midship-aft on decks 17-18) is designed as an exclusive VIP accommodation complex with its own Restaurant, Bar Lounge, Sundeck.

Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ships - swimming pools

With the Utopia ship RCI introduced two new cabin categories - Solarium Suite and Sky Junior Suite.

Solarium Suites (cat SO) are two bow-facing staterooms on Deck 14 (positioned above the Navigation Bridge's wings. Solarium Suites are similar to the Ultimate Panoramic Suites (Star Class benefits, introduced on Allure OTS and Oasis OTS), featuring a wraparound Infinite Balcony (with floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows).

Sky Junior Suites (cat JY) are eight staterooms midship on Deck 6 (within the Suite Neighborhood) with expanded benefits (Sky Class) while standard Junior Suites (cat J3-J4) are Sea Class. Sky Junior Suite's perks include access to Coastal Kitchen (Suite-only complimentary restaurant/dining room).

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Utopia OTS' 3-tiered dining room, the Quantum is designed as three separate restaurants situated on different decks - American Icon Grill (Deck 3), The Grand (Deck 4) and The Chic (Deck 5).

A total of 25 onboard dining options - 14 complimentary (including room service) and 11 specialty - are available to choose from.

The Spare Tire is Royal Caribbean's first "Poolside Food Truck". Located on Deck 15/pool deck, this complimentary eatery offers handheld fast food and quick bites.

Unlike the sisterships, Utopia OTS doesn't have Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine. The restaurant (popular for its extravagant gourmet dishes) was replaced by Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar which on Utopia is on two floors - aft on deck 11 (the restaurant) and deck 12 (the wine bar). Utopia's Giovanni restaurant also features an exterior terrace overlooking the ship's interior (Boardwalk Neighborhood).

The Lime & Coconut (poolside bar lounge) is on 3 levels (midship on decks 15-16-17) and on its base floor (on pool deck/deck 15) is the Sprinkles Bar (serving complimentary ice cream with toppings).

The Mason Jar ( deck 15 -aft/adjacent to Windjammer) is a fleet-first bar-restaurant (specialty/a-la-carte menu) offering Southern American cuisine specialties - comfort food, BBQ classics, salads, sides, burgers, sandwiches, cakes, pies, beverages (including spiked cocktails and American brand whiskeys and bourbons) as well as live country music (has its own band of three musicians performing in the evenings). The late-night menu (served after 9 PM) has various items priced between $3-9, including Fried Green Tomatoes, Blue Crab Beignets, Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich. Per person pricing/cover charges are US$25 (Brunch) and US$40 (Dinner), children 6-12 dine for US$11, kids under 6 dine for free.

New/RCI fleet-first dining offerings introduced with Utopia OTS include:

  • "Royal Railway - Utopia Station" combines dining with adventure and train travel. The experience starts with pre-dinner cocktails at Utopia Station's platform where passengers board the dining car to travel back in time and transport them to any place of the world.
  • "The Spare Tire" - is a quick-bite venue/poolside food truck, serving popular fast-food favorites like pulled pork sandwiches, cheeseburger flatbread pizza, daily rotating desserts.
  • "Izumi in the Park" (in Central Park) is a pickup window serving sushi, as well as Japanese street food and sweets. The adjacent "Izumi" restaurant provides a new omakase dining experience (you leave the chef to select and serve the specialties) paired with sake cocktails. The venue also features an alfresco dining area.

"Train Dining"

The "train dining" experience (simulating a Dining Car on a train) is exclusive to Utopia OTS and starts on Deck 4, at a yet-to-be-named restaurant that occupies the area of Izumi (on all OASIS-class ships).

The new restaurant as well as its surrounding areas is themed on train travel - with a train facade (of the restaurant) and even the grand staircase (providing a train station feel). The 48-seat venue itself is designed as a classic passenger railcar and has two cars, each seating 24 people.

Based on the dinner reservation there will be different trains for boarding. After booking the restaurant, passengers will receive in their staterooms a classic-looking (paper) train ticket that they must bring to the venue (to confirm the reservation) and can keep as a souvenir after the voyage.

The wait staff will be wearing special uniforms and the "departures" will be listed and updated on a Split Flap Display. On large LED screens will be projected UHD digital media, and the multi-sensory dining experience will also feature the smell of the ordered food.

The "dining car" will visit actual destinations (well recognized by their scenery) as well as places from the past (that no longer exist) and fictional places.

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

Utopia OTS is a novelty mixture of Oasis-class deck layout and Quantum-class technology and design innovations. The additions include the first-ever Royal Caribbean waterslides (created by ADE/Aquatic Design and Engineering), Utopia Playscape (2-deck kids playground), Suite Sundeck (keycard-access-only/exclusive sundeck with plunge pool, bar, sunbathing area), Starbucks Coffee Shop and Arcade (in the Boardwalk neighborhood), The Mason Jar (fleet's first Southern American-cuisine restaurant), 15x Studios (single cabins designed for solo travelers).

The 10-deck-high Atrium is marked a purple dragon statue spanning the entire Atrium. Numerous original artworks are displayed in every hallway and stairwell.

Among the modern technologies implemented on the Royal Caribbean's Utopia ship are the RFID wristbands or "WOWbands" - an optional choice to replace the SeaPass cards, allowing passengers to do purchases onboard and to access their cabins.

When arriving in the port, passengers can use their mobile phones to check-in and board the liner via just a security checkpoint between the ship and the curb. The new process leverages a combination of bar codes, beacons, and facial recognition, to make boarding fast. Guests check-in via the new mobile app of the brand.

Among the onboard amenities are complimentary 24-hour Room-Service, a supervised Youth Program for children of different age groups (Voyagers 9-11 yo, Explorers 6-8 yo, Aquanauts 3-5 yo), Royal Babies and Tots (complimentary nursery for toddlers 6 months to 3 years), shipwide Internet (WiFi access), self-serve laundry rooms.

Utopia Of The Seas Wiki

Utopia OTS is RCG-Royal Caribbean Group's 6th OASIS-class liner (ordered on February 18, 2019), with sisterships Wonder , Harmony , Symphony ,  Oasis ,  Allure - the world's biggest passenger liners ever constructed. The shipowner planned the OASIS-Plus vessel's cost per berth to be lower compared to the original OASIS class design (Allure and Oasis). Like the sisterships, Utopia OTS has telescoping funnels to be able to pass under bridges.

Unlike the original/smaller OASIS-class ships, Utopia has no Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine (specialty restaurant) and 150 Central Park (dinner-only specialty restaurant), while the adults-only Solarium complex has a swimming pool and 2 additional whirlpools.

Unlike Wonder OTS, Utopia has 50 fewer staterooms (2824 vs 2874) to allow the space needed for the LNG tanks. The vessel also has a different powerplant based on Wartsila 46TS-DF (dual-fuel, medium-speed, two-stage turbocharging) marine engines that can run on both diesel and LNG-gas.

  • Wartsila 46TS-DF (modular design engine/based on the series 46, 46F, 50) is available in 6- to 16-cylinder engine configurations and with power output ranging between 7,8-20,8 MW (at 600 rpm).
  • The engine order (placed in April 2021) also included the Wartisla-made Gas Valve Units (GVUs), NOx Reducer (NOR/scrubber system), LNGPac (Fuel Gas Supply System), and Transverse Thrusters (units for the propulsion system).
  • RCI's first originally LNG-powered liner is Icon OTS (2023).

The following aerial photo shows an Oasis-class vessel (as looked from above).

Royal Caribbean Oasis-class cruise ship

The shipbuilding order for a 6th Oasis-class unit (Utopia OTS, shipyard/hull number A35) was placed on February 18, 2019. This was the shipyard's 23rd vessel built for Royal Caribbean. However, the plans for commissioning in 2023-Q4 were postponed due to the COVID crisis. The ship's delivery is currently scheduled for 2024 May.

On November 5, 2021, RCG updated its shipbuilding schedule due to pandemic-related delays caused mainly by supply chain disruptions.

  • The 3x ICON-class units were rescheduled for deliveries in 2023, 2025, 2026.
  • The OASIS-Plus unit (Utopia) was rescheduled from 2023-Q2 to 2024-Q2.
  • The 4th EDGE-class unit (Celebrity Ascent) was rescheduled from 2022-Q4 to 2023-Q4, and the 5th unit (optional) for 2025 (if ordered).
  • TUI's Mein Schiff 7 was postponed from 2023-Q2 to 2024-Q2.
  • Silversea's 2x EVOLUTION-class ships were also postponed - from 2022 and 2023 to 2023 and 2024.

In December 2021, RCG trademarked 23x possible ship names (all with OTS) - Magnificence, Melody, Fantasia, Paradise, Vibrance, Splendor, Grace, Sanctuary, Illumination, Unity, Intrigue, Aria, Awe, Aura, Eternity, Eden, Euphoria, Bliss, Utopia, Marvel, Nirvana, Haven, Divine.

The name "Utopia Of The Seas" was officially revealed on April 5, 2022, during the vessel's steel-cutting ceremony held at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipbuilding yard (in Saint-Nazaire, France ). The ceremony also officially marked the start of Utopia's 30-month construction process. The special event was attended by Jason Liberty (RCG's new President and CEO) and Laurent Castaing (shipbuilder's General Manager).

On July 1, 2022, was held the keel-laying ceremony, which started the vessel's physical construction/assembly. The event was attended by Michael Bayley (RCI's President and CEO) and Laurent Castaing (Chantiers de l’Atlantique's General Manager). During the ceremony, newly minted coins were placed under the first hull block (weighing 948 tons) for good luck, according to the maritime tradition. The 17-month-long drydock construction process included the assembly of a total of 74 steel blocks.

The ship was launched/floated out from drydock on September 17, 2023. The entire float-out process took ~15 hours, beginning with filling the drydock with 46+ million gallons (~174,3M liters / ~174300 m3) of water overnight (Sept 16-17). Then the ship was moved into an outfitting dock.

Next RCI official YouTube video shows Oasis-Plus ships' fun statistics and best features.

Utopia OTS is the fourth Oasis-Class boat built by STX France - after Harmony OTS (2016), Symphony OTS (2018) and Wonder OTS (2022).

Utopia OTS' namesake is the residential ship MS Utopia Residences .

Inaugural Cruise (2024)

The next table shows the ship's first sailing/maiden voyage.

3-day "Bahamas and Perfect Day Cruise" (prices from US$1060 pp with double occupancy)

Curiously, the maiden voyage was moved up, as it was originally scheduled as a 4-day roundtrip leaving on July 22nd (2024).

With rebooking the Maiden Voyage (made by March 12th), RCI offered the same stateroom (originally booked) and the cruise fare rates were prorated (from 4 days to 3 days), providing a 1-day fare refund. The alternative option was the guests to remain on the July 22nd voyage (as originally booked).

All Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ships are with a DNV Green Passport. This is a key element for the Clean Ship Design certificate. The certificate is not compulsory, but it shows the environmental commitment of the operator line Royal Caribbean International. Another interesting feature is that the hulls have a special non-toxic covering that minimizes friction and saves fuel.

Follows a list of fun facts about the RCI Utopia ship - the world's ever-largest passenger vessel.

  • Draught: 31 ft (9,3 m)
  • Depth (below the waterline): 74 ft (22,6 m)

Royal Caribbean just launched the world's largest cruise ship and its next giant vessel is only months away. See the upcoming Utopia of the Seas.

  • Royal Caribbean is preparing for the July debut of its next mega-ship, Utopia of the Seas.
  • Utopia will enter service six months after the debut of its wildly popular predecessor, Icon of the Seas .
  • Take a look at Royal Caribbean's plans for the upcoming 7,958-person mega-ship.

Insider Today

Royal Caribbean has been basking in the wild booking frenzy of its newest ship: the Icon of the Seas , officially the world's largest cruise ship.

But behind the scenes, the cruise line is already prepping to debut its next giant vessel: 1,188-foot-long Utopia of the Seas.

In July — only six months after Icon's debut — the upcoming mega-ship will join its fleet with a series of three- to four-night cruises from Florida's Port Canaveral, Royal Caribbean says.

And it's sure to add more traffic to what's already one of the world's busiest cruising hubs: Royal Caribbean says Utopia will accommodate up to 7,958 people, including 5,668 guests.

Utopia won’t be part of Royal Caribbean's new Icon class, which includes the cruise line’s recently launched Icon of the Seas.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

Instead, the upcoming floating resort would join Royal Caribbean's previous Oasis class — the same group as the runner-up in the world's largest cruise ship competition, Wonder of the Seas .

The Oasis class includes some of the world’s largest cruise vessels.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

But Utopia won't outgrow its enormous predecessor.

Icon is 1,198 feet long, 20 decks tall, and weighs 250,800 gross-tons. Utopia is set to be 10 feet stubbier, two decks shorter, and 13,940 gross-tons lighter.

Despite this slightly smaller size, Royal Caribbean still plans to pack the 211-foot-wide Utopia with kid-friendly activities.

Why have one pool when you can have five? The cruise line says it's adding five swimming holes, eight hot tubs, and three water slides to the upcoming vessel.

While not family-friendly, gamblers will be overjoyed to see two casinos, totaling more than 370 slot machines, in the plans. Because what's a cruise vacation without spending more money than you anticipated?

Cruisers who’ve sailed on Wonder of the Seas might recognize some of Utopia’s planned amenities, like the Ultimate Abyss slide and a carousel.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

Guests who are quickly bored of the pool could instead spend their afternoons ziplining, laser tagging, escape room-ing, and rock climbing.

The youngest travelers could frolic around Splashaway Bay, the children’s water playground.

Meanwhile, their parents could grab a bite at what Royal Caribbean is calling a “poolside food truck.”

We doubt it’ll drive too far.

Like most cruise ships, the Solarium will serve as these parents’ adult-only haven when they need some time by a pool and away from their nagging children.

Fan-favorite AquaTheater would also make an appearance on Utopia, giving cruisers a unique show of swimmers, divers, slackliners, and acrobats.

The cruise ship's ice skating rink would also host shows. As would the more traditional theater, which plans to put on Broadway-esque performances.

If it counts, the karaoke bar could be as entertaining as these formal venues.

Of the ship’s over 20 dining venues, less than half will be complimentary. But don't worry — the soft serve station is included.

Specialty options, including on-land classics like Starbucks and Johnny Rockets, will cost travelers extra. The same goes for fun beverages at the more than 20 bars and lounges.

Tired of traveling by sea? Eat dinner on a train instead.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

Royal Caribbean hasn't revealed much about the new Royal Railway restaurant but said the dining experience will use tech "to travel to any place and time."

Izumi, Royal Caribbean's sushi and teppanyaki restaurant, isn’t new.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

But the one on Utopia will debut an additional "omakase-inspired" menu, according to the cruise operator.

Travelers on the go can instead indulge in takeout sushi at Izumi’s grab-and-go window, a concept first introduced on Icon of the Seas .

The upcoming mega ship’s three-night cruises currently start at $481 per person

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

Utopia's 2024 and 2025 itineraries will soon sail from Port Canaveral — just outside Orlando — to Nassau, Bahamas, and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay .

Utopia’s short itineraries contrast against Icon of the Sea’s week-long inaugural sailings this year.

royal caribbean cruise ships utopia

But that's the point: Utopia's itineraries were designed to target travelers craving a fast getaway."

Royal Caribbean has noticed an "exponential rise" in quick weekend vacations while more companies have implemented return-to-office mandates, a spokesperson told Business Insider.

Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas cruise ship

The Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas is still being built and will debut in 2024. It's considered an extra large size ship. Coming in at 1,188 ft long and 211 ft wide, it's roughly the length of 3.3 football fields, as wide as 4 tractor trailers, and the same height as a 16-story building. The Utopia of the Seas will be the first Oasis-class ship to run on LNG, a cleaner burning fuel. It will start sailing in July 2023. The Utopia of the Seas is still under construction and Royal Caribbean hasn't released all the details yet. This page will be updated as we learn more.

Utopia of the Seas Size and Passengers

The Utopia of the Seas can hold 5,668 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Utopia of the Seas has a space ratio of 41. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship's space-to-person ratio is about average. The Utopia of the Seas uses a neighborhood layout to break up large crowds across the ship, often making it feel less crowded.

The Utopia of the Seas is one of six Oasis-class ships currently sailing with Royal Caribbean. Oasis-class ships are the second largest class of cruise ships in the world. Their split-superstructure design creates unique outdoor spaces in the middle of the ship called Central Park and the Boardwalk. This class of ships also introduced the "neighborhood" concept, which groups venues into different themed zones to help improve people flow. The Utopia of the Seas is very similar to its sister-ships; Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas, although each ship may have some differences.

Utopia of the Seas Food and Restaurants

Royal Railway - Utopia Station on the Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas

Food is a big part of any cruise, and there will plenty on the Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas. You have 24 different dining options to choose from. Of those options, 10 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 14 options have an additional fee. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. Only 42% of the dining options are included meaning you might spend more while on the ship due to the additional fees.

Utopia of the Seas Bars and Drinks

Royal Caribbean's Boleros

Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas has 19 different bars and lounges where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail. It also has 1 other bars that are available for select guests.

Alcohol is not included in the base price of this cruise ship. To see if you would save money with a drink package, try our Drink Package Calculator.

Royal Caribbean also serves the Coca-cola family of products. That means Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Barqs Root Beer, although the selection can vary by ship. Most Royal Caribbean ships also have Coke Freestyle machines where you can make 100 different flavor combinations.

Pools and Hot Tubs on Utopia of the Seas

Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.

The Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas has a total of 5 pools and 7 hot tubs.

Tired of loud kids and splashing? 1 of the pools and 3 of the hot tubs are adults only. 1 of the pools and 2 of the hot tubs are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them.

Utopia of the Seas Features and Activities

There are quite a few things to do on the Utopia of the Seas. These are the main amenities that are available. Some are included in the cost of the cruise, while others have an additional charge.

Royal Caribbean is a mainstream cruise line. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.

Cruise pricing is dynamic and varies for each specific sailing based on factors such as departure point, ports of call, and time of year. Typically newer ships cost more, so a cruise on Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas will likely cost more than other ships in the fleet.

Utopia of the Seas Onboard Costs

Another way to gauge the cost of a cruise is to consider how much you'll spend on board. Even though a lot is included in the base cruise fare, you may still spend money on things like spa treatments, specialty dining, drinks, and excursions. In addition, guests can also have to pay for things like gratuities and tips.

Typically guests can expect to spend about 25 - 40% of the cost of the cruise on onboard expenses. In other words, if the cruise fare is $1,000 per person, you might spend between $250 and $400 on extra expenses.

The table below will help you understand what you might spend onboard a Royal Caribbean ship.

Royal Caribbean uses dynamic pricing, which means the pricing for many things will vary per sailing. The daily gratuities and tip are consistent across the fleet, but the pricing for the drink package, internet, and excursions will change. The only way to know your price is to consult the Royal Caribbean cruise planner once you're booked.

This Icon Class vessel was built to dazzle and entertain cruise passengers of all ages, and it features eight unique neighborhoods, seven pools and the largest waterpark at sea.

In total, Icon of the Seas offers 2,805 individual staterooms with space for 7,600 guests at maximum and 2,350 crew members. The vessel is 1,198 feet long with gross tonnage of 250,800.

Odyssey of the Seas

Aerial of Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas is a Quantum Ultra Class cruise ship that's smaller than the other newest vessels from the line. The impressive ship completed its first sailing in 2021 when it became the first ship of its class to sail from the United States. Odyssey of the Seas currently departs from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and other ports and offers a range of six-night and seven-night sailings throughout the Caribbean in the coming months.

Up to 4,198 guests can sail on the Odyssey of the Seas with double occupancy, and 1,612 crew members are on board to tend to their every need. The ship is approximately 1,138 feet long and is 167,704 gross tons.

  • Sails to: Odyssey of the Seas will depart from various ports in the United States and elsewhere in the world in the coming years. For example, there are upcoming six-night sailings from Fort Lauderdale that include stops in Labadee, Haiti and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in addition to Perfect Day at CocoCay. The vessel will complete a 14-day transatlantic cruise in April and May of 2024, which begins in Fort Lauderdale and ends in Rome, Italy. From there, the vessel will offer Greek Islands cruises from Rome before moving back to Cape Liberty (New York), New Jersey in the fall of 2024. At that point, itineraries will include stops in Port Canaveral, Florida, Nassau in the Bahamas and Perfect Day at CocoCay.
  • Cabin types: Odyssey of the Seas offers interior staterooms, ocean view rooms and balcony staterooms. Guests can also book interior rooms with a virtual balcony that boasts a floor-to-ceiling virtual view of the outdoors. Over-the-top suites available on the Odyssey include an Owner's Loft Suite, a Royal Loft Suite, a Grand Loft Suite and more.
  • Dining options: As a smaller vessel with considerably fewer passengers than Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class and Icon Class ships, Odyssey of the Seas has fewer dining options overall. Guests can dine at seven included eateries including a main dining room, a bistro, a cafe and the main ship buffet. There are also seven specialty restaurants and experiences on board including the Chef's Table, a Chops Grille and a sushi and hibachi restaurant. Like other newer ships from Royal Caribbean, the Odyssey also has its own Starbucks.
  • Features: The Odyssey has eight dedicated bars and lounges on board, bumper cars, laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, an outdoor movie screen and a casino, along with kid and teen features like an arcade, a kids' splash area and a social club. A FlowRider surf simulator is on board, as well as a sky diving simulator. Note that the Odyssey of the Seas doesn't have an AquaTheater like Oasis Class ships.

It is part of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class of ships featuring an impressive array of amenities, such as an indoor ice skating rink, a zip line, a FlowRider surf simulator, a rock climbing wall, a water park, a 259 ft Ultimate Abyss waterslide, an aqua theater, and neighborhoods filled with shops, restaurants, and bars. Cruise passengers will be entertained with Broadway-caliber shows.

Disney Treasure, the latest addition to the Disney Cruise Line, will launch in December this year, marking a significant milestone after a decade since the launch of the last Disney cruise ship. The ship has 1256 cabins and suites, each designed with a theme inspired by Disney movies like Aladdin, The Lion King, and Pocahontas.

Passengers on the cruise are in for a treat, with exciting Broadway-style musicals and the Aqua Mouse, a thrilling Disney water ride. The themed restaurants on board are another highlight, featuring a Marvel-themed restaurant and a Mexican restaurant inspired by the movie Coco. And if that wasn’t enough, the ship also features a new Haunted Mansion-themed bar, resembling a classic ocean liner’s haunted drawing room, serving ghostly cocktails.

  • Launching August 2024

Silversea Cruises is preparing to launch its newest ship, the Silver Ray, in the summer of 2024. The Silver Ray is the second Nova Class ship in the Silversea fleet, and it promises to bring ultra-luxury cruising to a new level. But that’s not all. The Silver Ray is also an eco-friendly cruise ship, making it the first hybrid, luxury cruise ship to be completely emission-free while in port. It does this by using fuel cells and batteries to power the ship.

The Silver Ray will begin its maiden voyage season sailing in the Mediterranean, before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale, where it will offer South America cruise itineraries. Check the prices for Silversea cruises .

Passengers on board the ship will be treated to a range of luxurious amenities that include oversized suites, welcome champagne bottles, an exclusive whiskey and cigar bar with rare whiskeys, an expansive spa, and plenty of bespoke experiences. Best Time To Go To Casino Royale

By Donna Heiderstadt | Published on April 23, 2024

One of the many incredible things that make a Royal Caribbean cruise ship the floating equivalent of a world-class resort — like those in Las Vegas, Aruba, The Bahamas or other destinations offering on-site gaming — is that you're never more than a few hundred feet from the vibrant and buzzing Casino Royale℠. That means the best time to go to the casino is pretty much any time it's open and you feel like playing.

Perhaps your game is blackjack or three-card poker. Or maybe you love the feeling of rolling the dice on the craps table or betting that the tiny white ball will land on your lucky number on the roulette wheel. In addition to the usual table games, Casino Royale also features a fantastic selection of slot and video poker machines waiting for you to collect on a winning bet.

If you're considering taking a cruise and hitting the tables or slots is a favorite vacation pastime, there will be plenty of opportunities to test your skill and luck while onboard. Casino Royale is available on all Royal Caribbean cruise ships, and offers thousands of square feet of Las Vegas-style action at sea — whether you're cruising the Caribbean, the Mediterranean or even past glaciers in Alaska. You must be 18 or older to play on most cruises, and 21 or older on Alaska sailings.

So when is the best time to go to the casino? Both the gaming and the people-watching at Casino Royale peak after dinner each night when the blackjack tables are hot, the slot machines are whirring, the roulette wheels are spinning in a mesmerizing blur and the craps dice are tumbling as players anticipate what they'll land on.

Not everyone, however, loves to hone their gaming skills in the middle of so much action. What's the best time to go to the casino if you prefer a more mellow vibe? There are plenty of opportunities to visit when the experience will be more to your liking. Here are our top suggestions for the best time to go to Casino Royale.

Right After The Casino Opens On Sea Days

Navigator of the Seas Casino Table Games

Sea days aboard Royal Caribbean cruise ships are notable for the many possibilities they offer: relax and sleep in, be wellness-focused and enjoy a massage, socialize and sip mojitos at the pool bar or be the player who's the first one at the tables in Casino Royale when it opens, as that's when complimentary gaming lessons are offered. Since a cruise ship casino can only operate in international waters (it must close when docked in a port, with very few exceptions), sea days offer the perfect opportunity for early-bird gamblers who feel that Lady Luck is most on their side when the sun is shining.

Is it better to go to the casino in the morning? It is on a sea day if you love slots because you'll enjoy easy access to all of your favorite machines as you stroll the casino floor, morning coffee in hand, and decide which one feels like it's ready to hit the jackpot.

Some blackjack players love to play on sea days right after Casino Royale's table games open, usually at 10 a.m., because they get their pick of the tables. It's also a great time to enjoy a speedier and more intense blackjack game, with fewer players at each table.

Anytime You Want If You're A Slots Player

Royal Caribbean's ships feature thousands of reel machines, video slots and hybrids fleetwide — that's across 28 ships — but if you're a slots aficionado , be sure to book an Oasis Class ship. Why? You can play the slots 24/7 on these five ships:  Oasis of the Seas® ,  Allure of the Seas® ,  Harmony of the Seas® ,  Symphony of the Seas®  and  Wonder of the Seas® . A sixth Oasis Class ship,  Utopia of the Seas℠ , will debut in 2024.

Each ship features hundreds of slot machines in its Casino Royale, many of which rank among the largest and most dazzling casinos at sea. For details on 24/7 play, simply see the casino host.

Whenever There's A Show

Evenings aboard Royal Caribbean ships are when the onboard ambiance most closely evokes that of the world's most celebrated entertainment-and-gambling mecca: Las Vegas. That's because Royal Caribbean is also known for the live theatrical options it offers — all on a complimentary basis, making these productions extremely popular.

The result? When vast numbers of Oasis Class guests head to the Royal Theater to enjoy a performance of a hit Broadway musical such as  Cats ,  Grease ,  Mamma Mia!  or  Saturday Night Fever , Casino Royale tends to empty out a bit. This makes showtime the perfect moment to try your luck.

In addition, the cruise line's fleetwide headliner shows, which feature a wide range of world-class acts — vocal groups, magicians, impressionists, acrobats and more — are especially effective at drawing in guests and freeing up space in the casino.

But that's not all. Oasis Class ships also feature ice-skating performances in Studio B and diving shows at the AquaTheater, both of which draw large crowds. Onboard Quantum Class ships, the Two70® performance space attracts passengers with its multimedia productions featuring daring aerials and supercool soundtracks.

Every ship in the fleet has a Royal Theater, where the vessel's ensemble of singers and dancers perform in production shows. This means that guests who just dabble in blackjack, place an occasional roulette bet or pass the time with penny slots are often pulled in another direction by the opportunity to enjoy complimentary, high-quality theatrical entertainment.

Altogether, you can expect smaller crowds at the tables and less competition for your favorite machines when there's a show happening. Simply check the Royal Caribbean app or the daily printed activities schedule,  Cruise Compass , to see what time the most popular onboard productions — headliner acts, Broadway shows and high-dive performances — are scheduled and then hit Casino Royale at the designated hour to get in a winning groove.

When Everyone Heads To Bed

While cruise ships offer entertainment into the wee hours, the majority of passengers tend to make their way back to their staterooms around midnight. Most of us aren't night owls when we have to answer to a morning alarm, right? Even though a cruise is a vacation from everyday responsibilities, shore excursion meeting times are typically early in the morning for anyone who plans to explore that day's port of call.

As a result, the post-midnight hours are often when the most focused gamblers come out to play. While cruise ship casinos don't stay open 24/7 like they do in Las Vegas, Casino Royale typically closes late (generally 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.), and the casino can stay open until the ship is about to arrive in port. That means if you feel like the odds are most often in your favor when most people are sound asleep, you're in luck.

While Docked At Perfect Day At Cococay

Are you one that prefers a hot seat to beach heat? A winning hand to sandy feet? If your Bahamas itinerary includes a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, both are possible. While the ship is docked at Royal Caribbean's spectacular private island in The Bahamas, you may have the option to return to the ship early (or just stay onboard the whole day) to enjoy your favorite gaming action at Casino Royale, since it's able to stay open while in port there.

Imagine this perfect day: Enjoy a morning of relaxation as you chill on one of Perfect Day at CocoCay's white-sand beaches while enjoying a piña colada (covered by your onboard beverage package) or socialization at the exclusive adults-only Hideaway Beach - the ultimate beachfront party in paradise. Then head back to your ship, shower off any lingering sand and hit Casino Royale for some laid-back afternoon action at the tables or slots.

Anytime The Vibe Is To Your Liking

What is the least busy day at the casino? There's not an easy answer. The times when Casino Royale will be busiest — from around 7 p.m. to midnight as well as afternoons on sea days — are pretty predictable. But the days when it's likely to be the least crowded depends largely on the itinerary, the time of year and the passenger mix.

In general, Casino Royale will have fewer gamblers on sunny sea days in warm-weather regions than on cloudy sea days in cooler locales. Or perhaps the passenger mix on a particular voyage doesn't include a high percentage of casinogoers. In other words, if you pass Casino Royale and the vibe is to your liking, go for it!
