Stadium History | Parking & Admission | Seating & Capacity | Food & Concessions

Named the best NFL stadium by USA Today in 2023, Lumen Field is located in Seattle’s industrial SoDo neighborhood, just over a mile from downtown Seattle. Known for its breathtaking views of Seattle and the Puget Sound, it has a reputation for being a true locals’ stadium with terrific local food and beverage options and easily accessible by several freeways and public transportation. And be sure to make time to explore the Lumen Link Field’s public art program , a collection of works from artists all over the country valued at upwards of $1.75 million. Pieces include an installation on the stadium’s north tower – a series of painted steel discs depicting man’s deep connection to the earth.

Lumen Field’s address is 800 Occidental Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134.

Lumen Field History

Lumen Field is a multi-purpose stadium that’s home to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks , XFL minor league football team Seattle Sea Dragons, the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer, and National Women’s Soccer League’s OL Reign.

When it originally opened in 2002, it was known as Seahawks Stadium, but was renamed Qwest Field in June 2004 when the telecommunications company acquired the naming rights. Later known as CenturyLink Field after Qwest was acquired by CenturyLink, it was nicknamed “The Clink.” It became known as Lumen Field in November 2020 when CenturyLink rebranded to Lumen Technologies.

In addition to hosting NFL and other football games, it also hosts MLS matches, trade shows, and an array of concerts from major talents including Beyoncé, Metallica, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, The Weeknd and more.

In 1996, late Microsoft cofounder and philanthropist Paul G. Allen purchased the Seattle Seahawks and launched a successful campaign to win public support for a new world-class football/soccer stadium and exhibition center. His dream came true when the stadium opened in 2002. Allen was actively involved in the design of the stadium and emphasized the importance of an open-air venue that still felt intimate.

The stadium was the first NFL venue to install a FieldTurf artificial surface. The Lumen Field stadium complex also includes the Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater, which makes it one of the busiest venues in the Pacific Northwest. There’s a distinctive 13-story tower at the north end of the stadium that features a vertically oriented scoreboard — the first of its kind in the NFL.

Lumen Field’s intimidation factor cannot be denied. With the help of the 12s, the stadium continues to set records for false start penalties by an opposing team and once held the world record for the loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium . In 2013, a cheering crowd of Seahawks fans peaked at 137.6 decibels, which is equivalent to the sound of a jet engine preparing for takeoff.

To celebrate their diehard fans, the Seahawks retired the number ‘12’ jersey in 1984. In 2003, the team started the tradition of raising the ‘12’ flag at Lumen Field before every home game as a call to fans to bring the noise and defend their home turf. To be asked to raise the ‘12’ flag is considered an honor and is usually reserved for owner Paul Allen, former players, and select Seattle celebrities.

Parking and Admission at Lumen Field

If you’re making your way to Lumen Field, consider packing earplugs. Seattle fans are among the loudest and most passionate in the NFL, originally earning them the nickname “the 12th Man” (now shortened to “12s”) for the decisive edge they bring to every home game. Although the stadium is technically one of the smallest in the league, the ‘Hawks make up for it with a field that was designed to be loud. Its clamshell roofs, built from 5,700 tons of steel, are designed to trap noise inside the stadium, making it incredibly loud when the opposing offense is on the field.

There are two official parking lots connected to Lumen Field. Lumen Field Parking Garage is located south of the stadium and is attached to the Lumen Field Event Center. The North Lot Parking is located north of the stadium. The lots open at 6 a.m. on event days and close approximately two hours after the event ends. Parking fees vary depending on the event.

There’s also an array of public transportation options that serve the stadium, including Link Light Rail, King County Metro, the Sounder train and more. Fans are encouraged to take public transportation to avoid traffic delays.

Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and don’t exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ will be allowed into the stadium as well as one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags and clear backpacks within those dimensions and no more than two pockets. Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.

Any bags larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″, diaper bags, fanny packs and computer bags will not be permitted inside the stadium. Outside food may be brought into the stadium but must be inside a bag that meets the allowable criteria.

Lumen Field Capacity & Seating Options

With a capacity of 68,740 and views of downtown Seattle and the Puget Sound, Lumen Field is one of the most exciting sports venues for seeing a game or a concert. Shaped like a U, at the base of the stadium is bleacher seating for 3,000 called the “Hawks’ Nest.” There are also field-level luxury suites located directly behind the north end zone, which is the first of its kind in an NFL stadium. There are 68,000 fixed seats throughout the stadium, approximately 1,400 seats for people with disabilities and their companions, and 70 percent of the stadium’s seats are protected by a roof. Lumen Field also has 127 luxury suites on three levels including the Suite Level, Club Level and Red Zone.

posted on October 9th 2023 by Charmaine Cortes // last updated on October 9th 2023

As a frequent visitor to Lumen Field, I can’t help but admire its central location in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle. Attending events at this iconic stadium is always a memorable experience, whether it be a Seattle Seahawks game or a mesmerizing concert performance. Before diving into the stadium’s gate and entrance guide, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with some must-know information to make your visit as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Lumen Field’s gate and entrance strategy is designed to provide maximum convenience for the attendees. With numerous gates and entrances spread around the stadium, you’ll find it hassle-free to enter, regardless of where your seat or parking spot is located. Just imagine the excitement building up as you approach the gates, ready to attend a vibrant match or event.

To ensure your visit to Lumen Field is an unforgettable experience, I’m here to provide you with a comprehensive gate and entrance guide that will cover everything you need to know. From the clear bag policy to the various accessibility services offered, you’ll be well-prepared to navigate Lumen Field like a pro!

Historical Background

General information, gate overview, entrance guidelines, facilities and amenities, parking and transportation, special events and tours.

tour of seahawks stadium

As a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, I’ve always been fascinated by Lumen Field and its history. Located in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, this multi-purpose stadium is not only home to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks but also to the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer, the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, and OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) [source: Lumen Field – Wikipedia].

I remember when Lumen Field was originally called Seahawks Stadium. It underwent several name changes over the years, including Qwest Field and CenturyLink Field, before finally becoming Lumen Field in 2020 to honor its sponsor, Lumen Technologies.

One of the key features of Lumen Field that I find impressive is its architecture, which directs noise towards the field of play. This design has contributed to Lumen Field being considered by many as the loudest stadium in the NFL. This, along with the enthusiastic fans of Seattle, provides a unique and electric atmosphere during games.

When I first visited Lumen Field, I noticed that the seating is divided into four tiers – the Upper Level, Loge Level, Club Level, and Lower Level. The stadium boasts a capacity of over 65,000 fans, making it an exciting and unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.

Together, the history, architecture, and passionate fan base all contribute to the amazing experience that is Lumen Field. As a fan, I am proud to call this fantastic stadium our home, and I look forward to the memories we’ll continue to create there in the years to come.

Field Capacity

Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC, has a seating capacity of around 68,740 spectators. This versatile stadium welcomes fans with an energetic atmosphere for various events, including football games, soccer matches, and concerts.

Field Surface

At Lumen Field, they use FieldTurf Revolution 360 as the playing surface. This state-of-the-art artificial turf provides optimal performance and safety for athletes while delivering a visually appealing experience for the spectators. It’s designed to mimic natural grass, and it’s been installed in many top-tier stadiums across the nation.

Lumen Field is conveniently situated in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood, just south of downtown. The area offers a wide range of dining and entertainment options for fans to explore before or after an event, making it an ideal spot for the complete game day experience. Getting to Lumen Field is easy, as there’s access to public transportation such as buses and light rail, as well as ample parking space for those who choose to drive.

Gate Locations

As someone visiting Lumen Field for an event, I find it important to know the different entrance gates available for me. From the information I gathered, various gates are spread around the stadium that cater to fans’ entry needs. Here are some of the popular entrance gates I’ve discovered for your reference:

These gates are well-marked and easily accessible for both first-time and regular visitors.

Gate Opening Times

One of my foremost concerns when attending an event at Lumen Field is arriving on time and having ample opportunity to grab some snacks and settle into my seat. It seems gate opening times vary based on the event, but for typical Seattle Sounders’ match days, stadium gates usually open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. This allows me enough time to find my seat, explore the stadium, and immerse myself in the matchday atmosphere.

Remember to always check specific event details for gate opening times, as they may differ.

Security Measures

At Lumen Field, ensuring the safety and security of all visitors is a top priority. To create a safe environment, Lumen Field has implemented various security policies, such as a clear bag policy and prohibited items list. It’s important for everyone to follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for all.

Prohibited Items

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone at Lumen Field, certain items are strictly prohibited from entering the stadium. Some of these items include:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Explosives or fireworks
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Glass bottles or containers
  • Drones or other remote-controlled devices

For a complete list of prohibited items, it’s best to check Lumen Field’s official guidelines before attending any event.

Accessibilities

Lumen Field is dedicated to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all of its guests. They offer a variety of accessibility services, such as:

  • Accessible seating and viewing areas
  • Elevators and ramps for easy navigation
  • Assistance from accessibility guides
  • Services for fans with sensory needs, such as Ben’s Sensory Room

By following these entrance guidelines and being aware of the security measures in place at Lumen Field, I believe we can all have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience at the stadium.

Food and Beverages

At Lumen Field, I found a variety of delicious food and beverages to keep me satisfied throughout the game. The concession stands offer a vast array of options, from classic stadium fare like hot dogs and nachos to local favorites like seafood and craft beer. There are also plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free choices, so everyone can find something to enjoy.

I noticed that restrooms are conveniently located throughout Lumen Field, making it easy to find one when I needed it. They are well-maintained and clean, with baby-changing stations and accessible stalls for those with mobility challenges.

In case I was low on cash, I found several ATMs dispersed throughout the stadium. This made it simple for me to grab some extra cash when needed for those cash-only transactions, such as purchasing souvenirs or tipping the helpful stadium staff.

First Aid Stations

Lastly, for my safety and well-being, Lumen Field has well-marked First Aid Stations staffed with trained medical professionals. If I needed medical assistance, I knew I was in good hands with the attentive and caring staff who are always ready to help. These stations are located around the stadium, ensuring prompt response in case of an emergency.

As a visitor to Lumen Field, you’d be interested to know about the parking facilities and transportation options available for events. I’d like to share details to make your visit as smooth as possible.

Parking Information

Lumen Field offers on-site parking in two lots connected to the stadium: the Lumen Field Parking Garage and the North Lot. These parking lots are open daily and rates may vary depending on the event. Please keep in mind that parking spots tend to fill up quickly on game days, so it’s best to arrive early if you plan to park on-site. You can also find alternative parking options at nearby garages or metered street parking:

  • Union Station Garage : Located at 820 4th Ave. S and is a convenient choice for parking near the stadium.
  • T-Mobile Park Parking Garage : A little further away, but may have additional availability.

Public Transport Directions

If you prefer taking public transportation to Lumen Field, you have numerous options available. Seattle Seahawks games and other major events are highly accessible through public transit. Some options you can consider are:

  • Link Light Rail : The Stadium Station is just a short walk from Lumen Field.
  • Sounder Train : Offers special services on event days and arrives at nearby King Street Station.
  • King County Metro Bus : Multiple bus routes serve the stadium area, making it easy to reach from various parts of the city.

By being prepared and knowing your parking and transportation options, I hope you have a great time at your Lumen Field event.

I recently learned that Lumen Field offers a variety of special events and tours that give fans an unforgettable experience. From thrilling football games to exciting concerts, there’s always something happening at the stadium. What I found most interesting was the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of Lumen Field.

During these tours, guests can explore the stadium and see areas that are usually closed to the public. I found out that tickets for the tours can be purchased online, with prices at $25 for adults (12+), $18 for children (3-11), seniors (62+), and military personnel, while children 2 and under can attend for free. It’s a great way to learn more about the history of the stadium and experience what it’s like to be on the field where the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC play.

In addition to tours, Lumen Field hosts special events such as concerts by world-renowned artists. For these events, VIP ticket holders can enjoy early entry and additional perks, making the experience even more memorable. As a reminder, children aged 2 and under do not need a ticket to attend a Lumen Field event but must share a seat with an accompanying, ticketed adult.

Overall, the special events and tours at Lumen Field provide the perfect opportunity for fans to create lasting memories, regardless of their interests or age.

Lumen Field was originally the brainchild of Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen (1953-2018), who obtained an option to purchase the Seattle Seahawks in 1996. He then launched a campaign to build a new world-class football field, soccer stadium, and exhibition center on the site of the former Seattle Kingdome. Seahawks Stadium, as it was originally known, opened for the 2002 National Football League preseason. It was renamed Qwest Field in 2004, CenturyLink Field in 2011, and Lumen Field in 2022. Today, Lumen field is home to the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC .

T-Mobile Park Tours

Safeco Field officially opened for business on July 15, 1999. A capacity crowd of 47,000 attended the Inaugural Game against the San Diego Padres. On January 1, 2019, the ballpark became known as T-Mobile Park as part of a 25-year hometown partnership. At nearly 20 acres, the outdoor ballpark features real grass and state-of-the-art amenities, most notably its retractable roof.

Unlike other retractable roofs that completely enclose a stadium, the Seattle baseball field is covered by what is often described as a giant, moveable umbrella. Closing the roof requires three people but takes no more than 12 minutes. It’s so quiet, the roof can be closed while a game is in progress. The roof’s only purpose is to protect the fields from precipitation—not blazing summer heat as most other locations, which Seattle does not have. So, while players and fans will be protected from rain, Seattle’s mild temperatures remain as Mother Nature intends. While the roof can be closed if the weather takes a turn mid-game, it will not be opened again. Therefore, the roof is only closed when absolutely necessary, on average 20-25% of the time. Despite its reputation, Seattle’s average precipitation is lower than many other locations, such as Atlanta, Miami, and New Orleans. The difference with Seattle is we will experience our rain in drizzles rather than downpours. So it can seem like we have more rain than we do.

Tours of the baseball park are available on select Mariners gamedays. Pre-Game Tours will start 3-1/2 hours prior to first pitch and last about one hour. Visitors can enjoy early access to the ballpark, a facility tour, overview of team history, and an opportunity to watch pregame batting practice.

  • A game ticket (sold separately) for the same date is required in addition to a ticket for the pregame tour. Tickets : GA $50. Children 3 years old and younger will be free of charge. All others require a ticket.
  • Non-gameday tours are not offered last time we checked (April 5, 2023).

Garth Brooks’ Stadium Tour is coming to Seattle’s Lumen Field

Michael Rietmulder

Update Aug. 3: Garth Brooks’ tour halted ticket sales for the Sept. 4 Lumen Field concert , citing uncertainties surrounding the resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

From earlier:

The king of country is coming to Seattle.

Music megastar Garth Brooks has added a Seattle stop to his appropriately named Stadium Tour. The country hitmaker and touring juggernaut will take over Lumen Field on Sept. 4. The Labor Day weekend concert will mark Brooks’ first date at the Seahawks’ home and his first return to Western Washington since a three-day, five-show stand at the Tacoma Dome in 2017 .

Tickets will go on sale to the general public 10 a.m. Aug. 6 through Ticketmaster , running $95. No tickets will be sold through Lumen’s box office on the on-sale date.

Consistently hailed as one of music’s top entertainers, Brooks resumes his COVID-interrupted Stadium Tour, which was unsurprisingly declared the top-selling country tour of 2019 by industry publication Pollstar. The era-spanning country great dropped his 14th studio album, “Fun,” back in November, featuring duets with fellow stars Blake Shelton and Brooks’ wife Trisha Yearwood.

Seahawks NFL Draft grades 2024: Why Seattle picking Byron Murphy II makes sense for new coach Mike Macdonald

What seattle is getting in its new defensive tackle.

getty-byron-murphy-texas.jpg

New Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has chosen a stud defensive lineman with his first-ever NFL draft selection, as the Seahawks have picked former Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II at No. 16 overall.

Murphy burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2021 when he was named honorable mention Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. The All-American made his first start late in the 2022 season against Texas Tech, then rode that momentum into the most recent campaign. In his final season with the Longhorns, Murphy set career highs in tackles (29), tackles for a loss (8.5), sacks (5) and quarterback hurries (7). He is arguably the most well-rounded defensive tackle prospect given his credentials defending the run and rushing the passer.

Below is a comprehensive draft profile for Murphy, including his scouting report, prospect ranking, pro comparison, combine results, college and high school accolades and overall NFL outlook.

NFL Draft grade: A

"They patiently wait and get the player who might be the best defensive player in this draft. Murphy has been compared to Justin Madubuike , who new Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald coached in Baltimore."  -- Pete Prisco

Byron Murphy II NFL Draft prospect profile

  • Height:  6-foot 1/2"
  • Weight:  297 pounds
  • Arm length : 32 3/8"
  • 2023 Second-team All-American (AP) and first-team All-Big 12
  • 2023: Highest PFF pass-rush grade (91.5) among FBS DT

CBS prospect ranking

Position : No. 1 DL |  Overall : No. 15 | Rating:  92.20 (All-Pro)

NFL comparison

Nfl  combine results.

  • 40-yard dash : 4.87 seconds
  • Broad jump : 9-foot-3
  • Vertical jump : 33"

Scouting report

Byron Murphy II is a long armed, squatty, explosive DT. His first-step quicks are a problem for interior OLs, and he gets his hands into their chest in a flash. He resets the line of scrimmage with speed-to-power conversion and effortlessly works across the frame of blockers to soften their edges. He has a nice rip move and uses an occasional swipe. He's a very fluid athlete with loose hips who can track the football down the line of scrimmage. He will occasionally drop to one knee to anchor against doubles, but it's not a clear strength. He's surprisingly powerful at the point of attack given his size. His hands are never complacent, and he works noticeably hard against the run and is rarely on the ground. He's best in a pure up-the-field pass-rush role. He has good block-shed ability. He doesn't have enough pure strength to counter off the initial rush, but that rush is almost always super explosive.

  • Exudes explosiveness
  • Pass-rush moves he deploys are highly effective
  • 100% effort on every play
  • Doesn't always have a counter ready if his first move fails
  • Smaller size gets him washed out against the run at times
  • Won't be great against doubles

Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki

Club: none | Opening: 1956 | Capacity: 81,006 seats

History and description

Luzhniki Stadium, initially called Central Lenin Stadium, was built between 1955 and 1956. It was the result of the ambition of the Soviet leadership to upgrade the country’s sports facilities after the Soviet Union had tasted its first post-war successes at the 1952 Olympics.

Works on Luzhniki Olympic Complex started in 1954 and construction of its centrepiece stadium, also called the Grand Sports Arena, in 1955. The stadium got finished in just 450 days and officially opened on 31 July 1956.

Luzhniki Stadium served as the centrepiece stadium of the 1980 Olympics, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics events, football finals, and equestrian programme.

In 1982, a stadium disaster took place at the stadium during a second round UEFA Cup match between FC Spartak and Dutch side HFC Haarlem. In the dying seconds of the match, people started rushing for the exits to make it to the metro before the rest of the crowd. When someone fell on the icy staircases, chaos ensued, and the resulting crush and domino effect killed 66 people.

Until the 1990s, the roofless stadium could hold just over 100,000 spectators. In 1996, the stadium got extensively renovated, which included the construction of a roof over the stands and the refurbishment of the seating areas, which resulted in a decrease of capacity.

In 1999, Luzhniki Stadium hosted the UEFA Cup final between Parma and Marseille (3-0), and in 2008 the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea (1-1).

The stadium was regularly used by Spartak Moscow, lacking a home of their own, until they moved to the newly built  Otkritie Arena  in 2014.

When Russia got awarded the 2018 World Cup , it was soon clear that Luzhniki Stadium would host the final and as a result had to undergo a large redevelopment. It hosted its last football match in May 2013 and closed following the IAAF Athletics World Championships in August 2013.

Redevelopment works entailed the complete reconstruction of the stands, adding a second tier, the removal of the running tracks, and an expanded roof structure. The characteristic exterior of the stadium was left intact. Works were completed in the summer of 2017, and the first football match at the reopened stadium, a friendly between Russia and Argentina (0-1), was played on 11 November 2017.

During the 2018 World Cup, Luzhniki hosted the opening match, three more first round group matches, a round of 16 match, the semi-final between Croatia and England (2-1), and the final between France and Croatia (4-2).

How to get to Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki Stadium is located on the Luzhniki Sports Complex, an area of sports facilities and park land in a bend of the Moskva River about 6 kilometres south-west of Moscow’s city centre.

The stadium can be reached with the red metro line 1. Station Sportivnaya, or alternatively Vorob’yovy Gory, both lie within short walking distance of the stadium. Line 1 directly connects with Moscow’s city centre, and the ride from either Okhotny Ryad or Biblioteka takes no more than 10 minutes.

Luzhniki Stadium lies practically adjacent to Moscow’s Third Ring Road. If arriving by car, orientate yourself with regards to the Moscow River and take the first exit after crossing the Moscow River at the bend where the stadium is located.

Address: Luzhnetskaya naberezhnaya 24, Moscow

Eat, drink, and sleep near Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki forms part of the Luzhniki Sports Complex and is surrounded by other sports facilities and parks. Its location right on the river Moskva is pleasant on a summer’s day, but there is little around in terms of eating and drinking, which can therefore better be done in central Moscow.

If you’re into a bit of culture though, the nearby Novodevichy Convent is well worth a visit, while the Moscow State University building on the opposite side of the Moskva river is one of Moscow’s best-known landmarks.

There are a few hotels to choose from if you want to stay close to Luzhniki Stadium, most near Sportivnaya metro station, e.g.  Yunost Hotel , Business Hotel Spektr , Olimp Hotel and Blues Hotel .

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. You can buy tickets online here http://www.novayaopera.ru/en .

Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. You can see what is on the program here http://opera-centre.ru/theatre . Unfortunately “booking tickets online” is available in Russian only. If you need help, you can contact us at and we can book a ticket for you.

Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. You can check the program here http://meloman.ru/calendar/ . You need just to switch to English. Booking tickets online is available only for owners of Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian phone numbers. If you need help, you can contact us and we can book a ticket for you.

Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls . The program is impressive in its variety but is not translated into English. You can contact us at and we can find a performance for you.

Byron Murphy II selected in first round of NFL Draft by Seattle Seahawks

Byron Murphy II selected in first round of NFL Draft by Seattle Seahawks

Texas DL Byron Murphy II was selected in the first round with the 16th overall pick.

DETROIT – Texas defensive lineman Byron Murphy II was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday evening.

Murphy is the 46th first-round NFL draft choice in Texas history, the second consecutive year in which a Longhorn was selected in the first round following running back Bijan Robinson's selection in 2023 by the Atlanta Falcons. He is the first Texas defensive lineman taken in the first round since Malcom Brown was selected 32nd overall by the New England in 2015. He is the 25th Texas defensive lineman taken in the NFL Draft since 2000.

Murphy is the sixth Texas player drafted by the Seahawks in program history and the first since punter Michael Dickson was picked in the fifth round in 2018. He is the third Longhorn chosen in the first round by Seattle, joining defensive back Earl Thomas (2010) and defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs (2004).

"Seattle got a great one and a guy that can be an anchor on their defensive line for a long time in Byron Murphy," said Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian . "The biggest thing about Murph is the work ethic. He wasn't the most highly recruited player coming out of high school, but he worked extremely hard, earned everyone's respect and developed into a big-time NFL first-round pick. He really had a pitbull mentality every day in practice and is a guy who graduated from UT in just three years and has a great football IQ. He is such an awesome person, incredible teammate and was a great team leader for us. The work ethic, drive, determination, and the coachability really stand out with Murph. He's a disruptive, penetrating type player, so whatever front you're looking at, he can be a great player for you. With us he played a lot over the center and was very effective at that, but he also got on the edge and was able to get up field, too. The amount of times he put pressure on a quarterback and an offense was immense, he's a very disruptive, attacking type of player who's at his best when you cut him loose and let him go.

"Murph is a really explosive, powerful guy. He's a disruptive defensive lineman who can consistently make plays on the opposite side of the line scrimmage. His effort and work ethic are unmatched, and that's how he plays every single snap. He doesn't take any plays off and has the ability to get to the quarterback. To think he was the second defensive player, and first defensive tackle, taken in this year's draft speaks volumes about what the Seahawks and everyone in the NFL sees in him, and they definitely won't be disappointed. Murph is a great one and I can't wait to watch him in the NFL."

Murphy's No. 16 overall selection is the highest a Longhorn defensive player has been selected in the NFL Draft in 12 years (Kenny Vaccaro/15th/Saints/2013). With Robinson going No. 8 overall last year, it also marks the first time since 2009 (Brian Orakpo/13th/Redskins) and 2010 (Earl Thomas/14th/Seahawks) that Texas has had a first-round pick in back-to-back years.

The 2023 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year, Murphy was selected a second-team All-American by the Associated Press and Sporting News.

A native of DeSoto, Murphy played in 39 games with 16 starts during his three seasons on the Forty Acres. He totaled 70 tackles (32 solo) with 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks, while also hauling in one touchdown and rushing for another score – the only lineman in program history to score two offensive touchdowns.

Last season, Murphy earned first-team All-Big 12 accolades from the league's coaches and the AP. He established career bests with 29 tackles, 13 solo tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He has registered at least two tackles in eight games and recorded a tackle for loss in six of 14 games, including a four-tackle, three tackle for loss and two-sack performance at Baylor. In the Longhorns' victory over Wyoming, he hauled in a 1-yard touchdown reception, becoming just the fourth Texas lineman to score an offensive touchdown. He added a 1-yard rushing touchdown against Washington in the Sugar Bowl.

Murphy earned honorable mention All-Big 12 Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors in 2021. An Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree in 2022 and a second-team honoree in 2023, he graduated from UT with a degree in Sports Management. A member of the 2021-22 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, Murphy was a three-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

Byron Murphy II

On being a fit for Seattle's defense: I'm a good fit for this defense because my play style is very aggressive, and I can stop the run and rush the passer, so I'm an all-three-downs type of player. That's why I feel like I fit perfectly in their defense and in their scheme and everything.

On meeting with Seattle before the draft: When I met with them at the combine, what stood out to me was when I walked in there, they welcomed me with open arms and it felt like family right away. It was just a blessing for them to have me come in there and interview me.

On the call: When I got that call, I was just happy and excited. It was just like a dream come true, so I'm just blessed and honored to be a Seattle Seahawk.

On being a Seattle fan as a kid: I was a Seahawks fan as a kid. I really loved the "Legion of Boom" with Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Michael Bennett, all of those guys. Then you had all of those offensive guys. Watching them growing up, they dominated the league and won the Super Bowl and everything, so just growing up watching them, that's all I wanted was to win a Super Bowl and win games.

On being chosen by Seattle after growing up as a fan: It means a lot. It's an honor for them just to believe in me, and they've invested in me, so I'm going to give them everything I've got. I owe them my all. And again, growing up that was my favorite team, and now to be drafted by Seattle, it's crazy. I give all glory to God, and this was God's plan.

On his heroes growing up: My heroes growing up were my parents. They sacrificed so much for me when I was a kid, for me and my brothers. They always found a way to make ends meet. They never made any complaints, and they're the reason I'm here today, and I owe it all to them really. This means a lot to them because they've watched me grow up from a boy to a man. They've seen it first hand, and they watched me put the work in each and every day. They saw how dedicated and motivated I am, so they're just proud and happy for me because I made my dream come true.

On Poona Ford having played in Seattle: I've got a bit of a relationship with him. We've talked before, and he's hit me up, and I've hit him up, so me and Poona, we're cool.

President of Football Operations/GM John Schneider

High motor, high effort, great individual, he's 21 years old, he got his degree in three years. Just up and down the line of scrimmage, he's a pass rusher, TFLs, you name it. He's got a lot of utility, a lot of variety. To sit here and think when we started it that we'd be able to acquire him, we'd by lying to you.

Head coach Mike Macdonald

He just plays our style of football, and he's so talented. Versatility along the front, such an aggressive player, he plays violently. He's got heavy hands for a guy of shorter stature, he's flexible, pass rush flexibility, you name it. We're excited to have him.

2024 NFL Draft: Day 1 recap of first-round picks

By Faris Tanyos

Updated on: April 26, 2024 / 12:21 AM EDT / CBS News

The worst kept secret in the NFL finally came to fruition Thursday as the Chicago Bears selected highly-touted USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft .

But the theme of the first round was the run on quarterbacks. An unprecedented six of the first 12 picks were quarterbacks, an NFL Draft record. The first 14 selections were offensive players, also a draft record, with no defensive players being taken until the Indianapolis Colts selected UCLA defensive end Laiatu Latu at No. 15.

The Bears and their long-suffering fans hope Williams, the 22-year-old phenom, will finally bring them much-needed stability at the quarterback position, which has been in flux since the days of Jim McMahon in the 1980s.

To make way for Williams, Chicago  traded away quarterback Justin Fields last month to the Pittsburgh Steelers after the No. 11 pick in the 2021 draft failed to meet the lofty expectations that were set for him. The Bears immediately sought to give Williams a weapon, selecting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick.

In honor of Detroit hosting the draft , NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell trotted out rapper Eminem and Lions legend Barry Sanders to kick off the festivities. More than 275,000 people attended the draft Thursday, according to Goodell, a record for the event.

2024 NFL Draft - Round 1

This year's draft is one of the deepest in years at the quarterback, offensive tackle and wide receiver positions, in part due to the pandemic, which spurred many players to extend their college careers. Nine offensive linemen and seven wide receivers went off the board Thursday. In total, 23 offensive players and only nine defensive players were selected in the first round.

The top of the draft went chalk, with quarterbacks as the first three selections. LSU's Jayden Daniels was taken No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders, and the New England Patriots  selected North Carolina's Drake Maye at No. 3 to replace former first round pick Mac Jones, who was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars last month.

The Arizona Cardinals selected the first receiver with Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. — son of his namesake, legendary Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr. — to pair with talented Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

Following reports that the Los Angeles Chargers and new head coach Jim Harbaugh would perhaps trade down, the Bolts instead stood pat, taking Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt in an effort to improve an offensive line that has struggled to protect franchise quarterback Justin Herbert.

The first major surprise was provided by the Atlanta Falcons, who even though they had signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in the offseason, selected Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick. Penix was not expected to go until late in the first round, due in part to injury concerns.

The Minnesota Vikings — Cousins' former home — conducted the first trade of the night, swapping picks with the New York Jets to move up from 11 to 10 to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who led Michigan to a national title in January.

The surprises culminated with the Denver Broncos — who also in search for help at quarterback after cutting Russell Wilson — selected seasoned 24-year-old Oregon quarterback Bo Nix at No. 12. Nix started 61 games over his college career, according to CBS Colorado, more than any other NCAA quarterback ever.

Rounds two and three of the draft will be held Friday, and rounds four through seven on Saturday.
